The 90s MV Melee - Semifinals match 1
youtube
youtube
youtube
NOTE: Britney and the Backstreet Boys are in this poll as a duo because they managed to achieve a perfect tie in round 3! Consider a vote for either of those videos to be a vote towards their joint entry.
Voter-submitted propaganda:
Virtual Insanity -
"DANCING WALKING REARRANGING FURNITURE BABS IS SHOPPING I LET THE BIRD OUT OF ITS CAGE"
"Simply one of the coolest videos of the 90s. The moving floor effect is just so iconic"
"directed by jonathan glazer who also made the mvs for karma police, street spirit, the universal, karmacoma etc!"
Baby One More Time -
"it's just iconic"
Everybody (Backstreet's Back) -
"Inspired by Michael Jackson’s Thriller, what more do you need to know?! :)"
"The Scooby Doo style framing device? Everyone's opulent monster costumes? Kevin and Nick both being stuck in different BDSM dungeons? Iconic."
"The classic Hollywood monsters made the mv iconic."
"why is it halloween? what's going on with the choreography? why are they in flowy pirate garb in the dance sections? why is this music video so great? AM i sexual???"

2/2 Jamiroquai; Linocut poster designed, carved and printed by me
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Format: A3 Linocut (printed on 350 x 500 mm paper)
Paper type: Fabriano - 285/300gsm, (2 prints from each)
Quantity: 4 prints in total
Thoughts:
I found it interesting to experiment with not just creating a linocut of Jay but also adding the famous Buffalo Man to him since let’s be real these two can’t be separated.
The whole style I tried to give off is mostly inspired from the albums with similar glowing like effect in the background. (The yellowish glow to the animation was later on added digitally to visualise the sun glowing in space).
I took “Space Cowboy” who took over (The) ”A Funk Odyssey” and gave the poster a nice space like atmosphere.
Couldn’t be more glad about starting this project since it turned out better than expected!
Full format animation to this can be found on my Instagram (through the link in my profile) as 1/2 from now

Tracklist:
Canned Heat • Planet Home • Black Capricorn Day • Soul Education • Falling • Destitute Illusions • Supersonic • Butterfly • Where Do We Go From Here? • King For A Day • Deeper Underground [Hidden Track]
Submitter's Note: Canned Heat was famously used during the iconic dance scene in Napoleon Dynamite, and was many people's introduction to the band. Deeper Underground was specifically written for the 1998 Godzilla movie, and does very briefly appear in it- quietly, in the background. Most esoterically, the intro to Soul Education was used as "Gendo's Theme" in the now 20+ years old(!) Evangelion parody fandub "Evangelion: ReDeath".

🎵 SONG-TO-GO 🎵
It's Friday again, which means unbelievably, I get to do yet another song wizard new music Friday. For a 5th week! Somehow you're all still here. I'm not out of music, so let's do this!
For the uninitiated, Song-To-Go is a weekly song poll to take a lesser-known song along with you as you scroll!
As with last week, choose songs based on the 30-second Spotify snippets if you don’t know them (I’ve tried to make sure there’s something you won’t know), and if you like them they’re yours* to carry along on your trip!
*as in add them to your library etc., if you like them a lot come ask me and I’ll try and dig up a Bandcamp like for you, hee hee
[last week’s poll, now complete, and you can see the results. Or just listen to more music! And then tell me about it :) ]
This week's picks are all about rock and weird but really catchy indie (and the one ska punk track). What other genres do you want to hear in the next few weeks?
As always, poll’s open for a week, so if you miss this one, I’ll be back with another one by next Friday. I think I'll also keep a running playlist of everything I've posted so far, plus others I'm planning to use for upcoming weeks because honestly, I don't really feel like there's a magician's cloth I'm pulling back to reveal songs. A lot of this is actually just stuff I've played on introducing radio over the last 4 years :P
The growing playlist, here.
Happy scrolling! If you want to give your mutuals a few new songs, reblog and tell them what you liked. Happy listening!

I have the hardest time deciding if Gotham City would be a hip hop capital, metal or electro.
I mean there is 1 warehouse by 100 inhabitants, add fear gas, woodstock is a school playground next to their rave parties.
But if there is Chicago drill, Atlanta trap...There is a Gotham style.
Batman universe always being depicted very futuristic and vintage at the same time, they are doing trance with jazz instruments.
