I was looking for a good screenshot of gloom spawn to show a friend who hasn't played totk, and I noticed something I never got close enough to see before (because if there's a gloom spawn I am up a tree a mile away firing bomb arrows before you can say 'complete the compendium')

Spoilers ahead.

The hands are wearing rings.

The rings look like the rings on Link's borrowed hand. They do NOT look like the rings Ganon is wearing - his are on the index and middle fingers only.

TOTK has a pretty heavy emphasis on hands. There's Rauru's hand, of course, but also the very near miss of Link grabbing for Zelda at the beginning of the game (using his decayed hand specifically), which is finally rectified at the end when he IS able to grab her as she falls.

Consider also the obvious connotations of depression associated with gloom sickness.

I had been assuming that gloom spawn were extensions of Ganon, especially given Phantom Ganon, but this makes me think that perhaps the gloom spawn are supposed to be a representation of Link's fears and general state of mind - of his own hands betraying him when it mattered most.

Random ToH headcanons (The differences of Humans and Witches)

Yk how humans and witches in the demon realm look similar af so like, you sometimes kind of forgot how different they both actually are. One of my random headcanons is that witches are much lighter, slower and less muscular (in some cases) than humans. Why do I say that? Well Luz is essentially able to carry Amity like it’s NOTHING so either, Amity is light as hell (maybe hollow or thinner bones) or Luz is on steroids because, from struggling to push down a lever to lifting someone so easily is something to say the least.

Another head canon of mine is that humans are more muscular and faster. During eclipse lake Gus says “she is surprisingly strong” and you also have like, 3 people struggling to keep her from vaulting outta the door way. Anyways my last and final head canon of the post is that humans are faster because well, Gus mentions something about Luz being fast and human fins…? I can’t really remember, OH WELL

I just like to think that Witches aren’t like, better Humans they both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Sorry if this is an annoying question, but how is the scarlet witch comic doing with sales right now? I’m worried it might get canceled because of a tweet the writer posted like a year or more ago that the series wasn’t doing too hot (apologies if this is too vague). That being said I’m not going to buy any of the comics due to the boycott.

You are no less capable than me of looking up sales information on your own.

As far as I know, the book is guaranteed another six issues, including this month's. There are listings for up to #10, plus the trade paperback. It's too soon to say what will happen after that-- it's almost half a year away. We probably won't get a clear idea of what's next until February, January at the earliest.

Generally speaking, books like Scarlet Witch-- a solo title for a character who, popular though she may be, has never had a long-form ongoing series-- are always in danger of getting cancelled. Sales are a big part of that, but it's honestly pretty arbitrary. I do remember Orlando saying, pretty early in the run, that he wasn't sure how long the series would go for, and reminding readers that preorders are the best way to guarantee its longevity. That might sound grim, but it's unfortunately pretty normal. I believe in this case, it was in response to a fan question along the lines of "will we see so-and-so," with the answer being, "if the series runs long enough and there's time to include them, but it's too soon to promise anything." Again, that's a standard outlook for this type of book.

So, if you're thinking of a post from last year, that might be what you're remembering. It doesn't mean the book was doing poorly, only that keeping the sales numbers up is, unfortunately vital. And right now, if you count both volumes of SW, plus Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver, Orlando's run is set to break a record at 24 issues, and has been consistently in publication for two and half years, with only a brief hiatus in the middle. That's the longest ongoing title Wanda's ever had, by a significant margin. I think that's a sign of success, and I'm grateful for it, no matter where it ends. I wish more people were focused on that.

I do think that relaunching the series in the middle was a mistake, and it definitely makes the numbers look worse than they are. The most recent issues have not been top sellers, but that decline is not unusual at this point in a longer run. But people on social media, particularly twitter, have a really bad attitude about this book and are constantly going out of their way to create a negative atmosphere in the fandom. Fearmongering that the book will be cancelled is absolutely a part of that. It's not worth engaging with.

this media club plus podcast is a blast. the newcomer jack may know nothing about the show, but their instincts on what will be significant and commentary on the design and setup of the show is so insightful that EYE'm learning new things. the other hosts are careful not to spoil too much while guiding them along with questions and observations of their own, too. but like hearing someone brand new to the story go 'oh this seems like a thematically significant question that will come up later' (UNERRING) and 'oh keeping this theme song is great because it offers a consistent character to the show but it's flexible enough to handle variation in tone' and 'damn, it seems like women are technically allowed to be hunters but the show is telling us that really doesn't happen' and 'hmm, this reminds me of a jrpg' (THREE EPISODES IN, not even close to greed island) is just so much fun
