Cabin Fever (2016)
In today's review, I find some viruses never go out of fashion. As I attempt a #positive review of the 2016's Cabin Fever #SamuelDavis #GageGolightly #MatthewDaddario #NadineCrocker #DustinIngram #RandySchulman #GeorgeGriffith #DerrickRMeans #LouiseLinton
There was a time when the world didn’t feel as (for lack of a better term) wild as it does now. Sure, those days are long behind us now, and some may doubt there ever was a period of calm. In 2016, over 14 years after Eli Roth’s directorial debut, he’s back producing a remake of the odd virus story that became a cult classic, a tale of Cabin Fever. The cabin has had a facelift, but the story…

HAVEN Rewatch - season four finale
Another super-emotional ending as the plot picks up from where last week left off ...
“Just like riding a bike for us Crockers” 😭😭😭😭😭
I love Gloria talking about the limitations of science to explain consciousness. And then I love how they do the rest of this scene; with the music and the gunshot off screen. Very emotional. “Aaron can cry now,” just says so much.
After William’s men get him, how does Nathan get out of those handcuffs so quickly? Did they just drop the keys on the ground lol
Dave’s “I’ve always considered you my brother, ever since I was adopted,” gets me wondering how old he was when the Teagues adopted him; was he a baby or was he old enough to remember it?
I don’t really get what happens to Jennifer at the end here. I understand what’s going on with Duke - William’s explanation about all the Crockers Troubles being triggered at once makes sense. But what’s going on with Jennifer? She didn’t even go anywhere near the door - just opening it was enough to kill her on the spot, while Dave survived dangling inside it?
But it’s another super-dramatic cliff hanger season finale and sets up the drama of season five well. How are they going to get Audrey back …. ?

Marvin put performing on hold to appear in the 1971 big-screen movie Chrome and Hot Leather. He had appeared in a television movie, a Danny Thomas-Aaron Spelling production called The Ballad of Andy Crocker, while I was overseas. The first TV movie to deal with the Vietnam War, it had a first-rate cast, including Lee Majors, Joey Heatherton, Bobby Hatfield, Agnes Moorhead, Pat Hingle, Peter Haskell, Jill Haworth, and Marvin, who got fourth billing. He didn't have much of a role, but the film was well received and he liked working on a Hollywood sound stage. Acting suited him; he wanted to do more.
However, unlike The Ballad of Andy Crocker, Chrome and Hot Leather didn't have much going for it. Along with Marvin, the cast included William Smith, Tony Young, Michael Haynes, and Peter Brown. Basically a motorcycle movie, the story was about the death of a girl murdered by a gang of bikers, and about her Green Beret fiance, who was out for revenge. The reviews were awful, ranging from 'stupid' to 'bomb.' The best thing about the film, according to Marvin, was that it got acting out of his system and revived his interest in motorcycles.
Marvin had always wanted a bike. Now, on his return from Hollywood, he got one. He also bought some undeveloped property in Washington state that he wanted to check out. The land purchase was hastily made, more as an excuse for the two of us to get away together, I suspected, than as a moneymaker for him.
Marvin and I had never roughed it in the woods as kids. My only experience with being out in the wilds was in Vietnam, and that was not a happy one. But we set out anyway, loaded to the hilt with the latest in camping equipment and gear. I'm sure he spent a small fortune on the tent, netting, cots, sleeping bags, pillows, cooking utensils, cook stove, butane, the works. If the Ritz-Carlton had a hotel nearby, it couldn't have been better equipped. Marvin charged everything, even though he didn't have a credit card. He was so well known now that all he had to do was give his manager's name and address.
Off we went in one of Marvin's flashy cars, with the camping equipment packed into the small trailer carrying his motorcycle hitched to the rear. I met Marvin in Detroit, and from there we headed west along Route 12 to Chicago, where we picked up Route 30, which took us westward through Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Idaho, into Oregon, and on up to the Washington border. We felt like a modern-day Lewis and Clark.
The scenery was sensational, with sprawling views of towering mountains and endless forests. Marvin's property was along the Cowlitz River, in the southern part of the state. It was impossible to tell its boundaries, since there were no markers anywhere, only rolling grasslands rising to distant elevations that reached into the clouds. Enough of the land was flat, which would have allowed Marvin to build, but I couldn't see him living in the wilderness. Neither could he, except for a night or two. We found a perfect spot to pitch our tent - or it would have been perfect, if we could have figured the thing out. So we planned on sleeping in the car, which was fine with both of us. We had everything we needed either with us or near us, even clear, fresh water from the nearby rushing river. The icy temperature of the water reminded us of our adventures as kids at the swimming hole in D.C. 'Man, this is the life,' Marvin sighed.
Once we got his motorcycle out of its trailer, we had a great time riding up and over the rolling hills, kind of like Steve McQueen in the final scenes of The Great Escape. Feeling the clear, fresh air against our faces was invigorating. It was so peaceful, except for the roar of the bike. We were loving our run through the wilds when suddenly we heard another sound, a deep, thunderous rumble that seemed to come from nowhere, and everywhere. Marvin slammed down on the brakes and we came to a sliding halt, almost throwing me off the back of the bike. 'Did you hear that?' he stammered, his eyes wide as hubcaps. 'Why do you think my hair is standing up?' I replied. 'That's it,' he said. 'We're done here.' 'I'm with you, bro,' I said. 'Let's move!'
Marvin turned the bike around as the tires spun, sending us flying. We were almost halfway back to our campsite when we saw a big, black blob coming over the faraway hill. It wasn't Bigfoot, but it was huge, and coming our way, moving fast. At that point, Marvin screamed, 'It's a bear!' Being city kids, we'd never seen a live bear before, let alone one charging at us. So we did what we did 20-some years earlier when the neighborhood ruffians came charging. We ran - or, in this case, we rode - for our lives. Once we got to the car we threw our stuff inside, rolled the bike into the trailer, and sped away in a flash. Marvin kept the motorcycle, but I don't know what happened to the property. I have a feeling he held on to it but lost it to the government when he had his money problems. At any rate, Marvin never mentioned wanting to rough it again.

sorry in advance if this does not make sense my feet hurts from working in retail and im sleep deprived
i think for a lot of people its either
a.) wanting aphmau "out of the way" (even though she Literally Doesn't End Up With Them) for garrance
or
b.) thinking she shouldnt have anyone out of spite for aarmau's existence
these are extremes obvi and ppl can just like aroacemau bc they just like it
but a lot of ppl are the same when it comes to aroacemau. they dont treat aphmau as her own individual and treat her as only connected to another person
with a you have her as just merely shipping fodder and tossed to the side when she no longer suits your narrative (her "breaking their hearts" and them ending up together and finding solace in each other blah blah blah) and then kind of saying well "hey shes not a villian so you shld just make her aro/ace"
and with b its only to spite aaron. like "haha bitch you ended up alone bc the girl you liked doesnt like you"
both options completely discard aphmau entirely to focus on her masculine counterparts
and then they never actually do anything with her being aroace. shes just the token aroace.
and this string of "heartbreaks" doesnt even need to happen because aro/ace ppl can STILL BE IN RELATIONSHIPS!! aro/ace isnt a monolith, its a spectrum and they can still feel romantic or sexual attraction or both
and this is just with aphmau who is pretty well liked!
whenever i think of characters who get absolutely decimated by the fandom i cant help but think of uraraka from mha
her only crime was liking deku and since she did that she was suddenly viciously attacked by all sides. she was demonized and called annoying or stupid and some people made her HOMOPHOBIC??? because oh my god clutching pearls this 14 year old is crushing on a boy sound the fucking alarms!
or jane crocker from homestuck who was called the WORST names under the sun. the homophobic jane hashtag was way too popular considering everyone in her immediate vicinity was gay and/or trans
misogyny is ALARMING when women "stand in the way" of someones gay ship its not even funny and its WEIRD considering that
1) you can just simply not have the relationship in fanworks
2) you can write a healthy falling out of love and staying friends
3) its a fictional fucking character and NOTHING they say or do matters
its sad how fandoms treat female characters even in 2023
anyway. aroacemau is cool when it actually focuses on aphmau. jane crocker is neat and a total sweetheart. ochaco uraraka could literally kill me and id platonically say thank you. these women have done NOTHING WRONG
Sometimes I wonder if aroacemau is a vaguely popular headcanon for reasons similar to Christine Canigula from Be More Chill (those reasons being shipping two boys together, one of which being her boyfriend (and in Aphmau’s case them being her love interests) but liking her enough/her being too important to demonize/erase her)
—
#battyreblogs#goingbatty#aphmau#aphblr#misogny#not tagging the other fandoms lol#anyway plz tell me if this makes senss#bro im so tired lol

It's a heck of a thing to sit and watch a full-grown man dissolve like a candle in a frying pan over high heat.
However that's what Doctor John Cameron Ice and billionaire Marcelo Zucchero did years ago, and while frighting to watch the pair regarded the event with optimism as the start of what they hoped would be a world-changing discovery.
Dealing with impairments their whole lives, Ice having a badly curved spine, and Zucchero struggling with a congenital heart defect. Ice had come to the billionaire with a proposal for a radically new form of treatment that would cure them both, and offer the same for thousands of other conditions, up to and including old age. He financed it fully.
Until at last the first full-blown clinical trial was held and William-X became a puddle in a vat. And yet he still lived because as he was so reduced his every cell was rejuvenated and re-calibrated and most fantastic of all the mysterious substances known as Dark Matter and accompanying Dark Energy was made a part of him as it bonded with his Y chromosome turning it into a very special Neo-X chromosome.
Then the pair watched as the man listed only as William-X in their records started to reform into a human.
But what a human! No longer an elderly man in his mid-80s William was hale hearty and a woman who appeared to be in her early 20s.
Oh, and due to the Neo-X chromosome possessed of what could only be called superpowers far beyond those of ordinary mortals. While having the mind of his former self William-X was otherwise a whole new person. And frankly, she went more than a touch mad.
Deciding her only choice was to dash out and fight crime and or evil, unable to stop her the being what soon became known as The Indelible She-Funk (the name hints at her powers, but in case you're eating we won't go into detail) made quite an impression on the public.
At first, thinking that the experiment was going to be a failure. After all, it only worked on men (doesn't work if you already have an X chromosome) and there was no telling what weird powers the new women would have.
Then Marcelo's money-making instincts kicked in and so was born.
Supreme Ultra-human Genetic Augmentation Regimen Strategies, or SUGARS.
Housed in their all-white cube-shaped headquarters, The Sugar Cube, men without families go in, their identities are erased, and outcome a new breed of super-heroines for hire The SUGARS!
Led by Ice and Zucchero, who themselves have gone through the process, emerging as the telepathic super hypnotic powered Empress Bee, and Blizzardella the princess of polar powers.
Crime has never been more scared or turned on.
Below are some of the new Super Women.
Hector Hensley: The Starry Knight
Hector on finding himself turned into an attractive young woman exclaimed “Oh man! I am spacing out here!” and then she did... shoot out into space.
Seems she has the ability to teleport herself and up to twenty-two other people, animals, or objects anywhere in the world, after first taking them on a dizzying spin in outer space.
Impressive if you ignore the two or three people who always lose their lunch on landing at the destination.
Guy Bright: Good Knight Nurse
Gained the ability to control the body functions of other people. Blood pressure, blood sugar levels, temperature, etc...
Which led to GKN's most famous way to take out the baddies, the orgasm blast.
Which led to the Good Knight Nurse also taking special stealth training at The Sugar Cube to become sort of the de facto “dark knight” of the SUGARS, not so she could sneak up on others, but so she could better hide from people following her demanding “blast me! blast me!”
Marsh Marshall: Ballistic Ballerina
Marsh, an ex-motorcycle racier rose from the vats at The Sugar Cube with super-human agility, and the ability to run at super-speed (max velocity 444 MPH) on her toes!
However, she still insists that SUGARS get her the best bike they could find which she still uses to get around from place to place, saying “Hey, those damn toe-shoes are expensive!”
Jim Yates: The Transcendental Technician
Found she had the ability to “commune” with technology and machines. Said Neon, “when they said I was going to be a super-heroine I was thinking more along the lines of Wonder Woman smashing into villains, not going around and setting on copying machines to see what they had been used for.”
Joel Walton: Nun Better
Can force a confession out of anyone, has a flock of telekinetically controlled 12-inch rulers, and can cause elemental changes in small objects (if she tosses some small bland cookies or a glass of wine at you they might change into explosives or knock-out gas when they arrive.)
Says Nun “This is all so weird, I'm an agnostic!”
Paul Aaron Flynn: The Pink Avenger
Not only did his trip through the SUGARS process give his super-powers, but it also seems to have turned him into a Japanese woman... with pink hair!.
Her very unusual power is the ability to fire pink force bolts that cause anything struck by them to have their reality altered becoming feminized, eccentric, and leaving behind the scent of Shiseido Ever Bloom Fragrance.
Such as the team of bank robbers who found themselves turned into a middle-school cheer-leading squad from the '50s or the mad bomber who found himself turned into a living version of Betty Crocker and his bomb a plate of toll house cookies.
Alfred Ferguson: Puzzle Boxer
Alfred really, really wanted to be a knockdown taken `em out rough and tumble sort of super person.
But the SUGARS process does its own unpredictable thing and instead, Alfred found she now had the ability to break any code, solve any puzzle and defuse any bomb or trap. She insisted on being trained in all the combat skills The Sugar Cube had to offer, and on being called not the Puzzler as PR suggested but the Puzzle Boxer so people would think she was mainly a fighter.
But as the SUGARS process had also turned him into a five-foot-one-inch cutie no one is really buying it.
Henry Hiroto Kazuhiko: The Clone Ranger
The only single person in the world that if she wants to talk to herself, has to use Zoom.
Maximum clones: 15.
James Jasper Mueller: Obsidian Rose
Turns into a shadow, walks through walls, phasing through a person knocks them out.
But that's not the important thing with Obsidian Rose. James on finding himself turned not only into a woman but a rather spooky one at that did not take it well.
Plus on being handed the bill for being healed by the SUGARS process (talk about out-of-network NONE of it is covered by any insurance) with the only real way out to sign an exclusive five-year contract to work for SUGARS as a super-heroine for hire.
The former Mr. Mueller said screw this and went rogue founding a team with other disgruntled SUGARS that she calls Adventuresses, Mercenaries, Outsiders & Killers or AMOK.
Which is just as well, because what's a bunch of supers if they don't have another bunch of super baddies to fight? Pain in the neck, that's what they are.
And boy howdy does this ever help with the merchandising from The Sugar Cube.

The Vast of Night. D: Andrew Patterson.
For a movie made on a shoestring’s idea of a shoestring budget, “The Vast of Night” pulls you in right away – by displacing you. In a pristine, beautifully lit suburban living room a 1950s-style cheap television set is playing a grainy, black-and-white Sci-fi anthology series: “Paradox Theater ‘The Vast of Night’. The camera pulls closer to the screen and then through it, (its images now once again in vibrant color) towards what looks like the platonic ideal of a high school basketball stadium (It’s Cuyahoga, New Mexico, late 50s.) The camera’s been following Everett, a nerdy looking wisecracking young man whom everybody knows (an alumnus who has an evening radio DJ shift). Everett been called to fix an electrical problem and is then dismissed (“I asked for Emmitt, not Everett”) but he meets up with Fay Crocker an equally bright 16-year-old student (they have matching horn-rimmed glasses) who wants his advice on using her new tape recorder. The sequence if filmed like an Aaron Sorkin walk-and-talk but with Altman-like overlapping vocals and dialogue heavy with AV jargon and a slang that Everett might be making up as he goes along (“Go ahead, razz my berries”). Unlike the usual sci-fi buildup of bland “normal” people dealing with creeping ominousness we see smart, funny people dealing with a day-to-day that actually seems interesting. Everett walks Fay to her job as a telephone switchboard operator and as they talk you get the buzz of two smart people connecting with each other. But they’re shot from behind in a tracking shot that looks like Sam Raimi’s buzzsaw camera if David Lynch got ahold of it. You see them walk through the kind of small town where nice houses can give way to watertowers and powerlines. In less than 15 minutes we get a sense of the town and have met people we care about. Then at work Fay starts to hear odd sounds through the wires.
I’m not giving away too much of what happens next. The two teens investigate where the sounds might be coming from (in close to real time, the only part of the film that stretches credulity) and find more than they bargained for. Patterson uses sound as well as any director I know (the switchboard scene is a masterpiece of slow-developing eeriness) and he’s smart enough to let the screen go dark when an old man talks about an army test he was involved in (He’s African-American like his fellow soldiers were. They were chosen because in 1950s America their race would paint them as unreliable witnesses). The denouement isn’t really one that would surprise any X-Files fan, but that’s what those first 15 minutes were for. When Philip Kaufman remade Invasion of the Body Snatchers, he populated it with post-counterculture eccentrics so we’d feel what was lost when those people’s personalities were erased. The noise and chatter of Patterson’s beginning sets up the quiet at the end. The film’s title isn’t random.
