“You simply cannot fit more America into a single incident than a man dying a horrifying death in protest of war crimes while a first responder screams at cops to stop pointing their guns at him and go get fire extinguishers. If you were to pick a single moment in history to sum up the essence and expression of the US empire, that would be it.”

An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress
End the Massacre, Protect the Innocent
1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!
As a concerned American and one of your constituents, I am writing to express my PROFOUND HORROR and OUTRAGE regarding our complicity in Israel’s genocide of Palestinians. The toll is devastating: over 43,000 Palestinians, including 16,765 children, and 1,200 Israelis have lost their lives, with countless others wounded, held hostage, or missing. In Gaza, Israel's blockade has left over 2 million people, half of whom are children, without essentials—food, fuel, water, electricity, and medical supplies. This collective punishment violates international law and humanity itself. On
February 25, 2024, Aaron Bushnell, a 25-year-old U.S. Air Force airman, took his life in an act of protest outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC. Dressed in uniform, he set himself on fire while shouting "Free Palestine," expressing his deep disillusionment and refusal to remain complicit in what he saw as genocide. Bushnell's final act was a plea for justice and a testament to the moral crisis that weighs on us all. His sacrifice underscores the urgent need to address the humanitarian crisis in Palestine and end U.S. complicity. We cannot continue to support actions that blatantly disregard human life and dignity.
As you prepare to vote on aid to Israel, I urge you to stand against violence and advocate for an immediate ceasefire, the lifting of Gaza’s blockade, and diplomacy that upholds the rights and lives of all people in the region. Americans stand with peace and human rights, not oppression and endless cycles of violence.
The time to act is now.

"free palestine," he shouted until his last breath. aaron bushnell, we will never forget you.
as much as bushnell's actions has moved us all, please seek other ways to take actionable measures against the injustices we face in the world. none of us wanted him gone, and the least we can do is prevent another such tragedy by supporting each other in our efforts to enact lasting change.

One of the most horrifying videos on YouTube that appeared in my feed this week was that of US Air Force airman Aaron Bushnell immolating himself just outside the Washington DC Israeli Embassy in protest of the genocide in Gaza. Evidently, he had received orders that he would be assigned along with other US military personnel to assist the Israeli Defense Forces in their so-called war against Hamas. As he stated in his video, he preferred to take this extreme step rather than be complicit in genocide. He was only 25 years old.
Rest in peace Aaron. You are a hero. I hope that your action draws more support in the US to end this heinous slaughter of the indigenous Palestinians by their genocidal oppressors.

May Aaron rest in peace. His values and the legacy he leaves behind is one of humanity. Society has failed, to the point where we must go up in flames to request a natural obligation such as freedom.

After the death of Aaron Bushnell I can't stop thinking about the quote "Revolutionary suicide does not mean that I and my comrades have a death wish; it means just the opposite. we have such a strong desire to live with hope and human dignity that existence without them is impossible."

i keep typing and then deleting a post about self immolation as an act cause i think some people. are kind of missing the point of it. but i also have to go to work soon and don’t have time to get all my thoughts out right now. but bottom line is. the point is to witness the point is to see the point is that it is horrific the point is your attention the point is this is one of the most brave and desperate acts it is not simply suicide and it is not an act of hopelessness it is a human giving their life to something bigger than themself in the hopes that it will make a difference it is a political statement it is a request that you look and listen and act

Literally an active-duty soldier in the US Armed Forces (Aaron Bushnell, may he rest in peace) has committed self-immolation as an act of protest against genocide in Palestine. X
He's last words were : "Today in front of the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C. My name is Aaron Bushnell. I am an active duty member of the US Air Force and I will no longer be complicit in genocide. I'm about to engage in an extreme act of protest. But compared to what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonizers, it's not extreme at all. This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal."
As much as the media wants you to believe that you have become desensitised to the suffering of others, Aaron's protest should spark outrage. Free Palestine.

“If the citizens of Gaza were white there’d be more outrage and this would be stopped!!!” This is NOT just rooted in racism! Just like in the 1400s, the Western bourgeoisie saw profit in the dehumanization of POC! Not to say there isn’t racism and Islamophobia that heavily plays into this, but writing it off as ONLY racism ignores that this is fundamentally a problem brought on by capitalistic greed. Those children are primarily being murdered because the West and IsraHell sees profit in the ethnic cleansing of an entire country. They see profit in selling weapons of mass destruction and draining the land of its resources.
On top of that, they’re using this to set an example and see how much they can get away with before people snap and recreate the French Revolution. Fuck peaceful protests. There’s nothing peaceful about the ethnic cleansing of an entire nation. In the first place, peaceful protests just means the protesters aren’t being violent! The reason it ever worked in the past was because outsiders saw the government and industries enact violence on the protesters! Even Dr. King aligned with Malcolm X!
VIOLENCE ENACTS CHANGE! IT IS YOUR CHOICE WHETHER THE ONE FACING THAT VIOLENCE IS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY OR THE CAPITALIST SCUM PROFITING OFF OF GENOCIDE!
