Azulaang Week 2024 Official Prompt List

Here they are! All the prompts for all the days of Azulaang Week! The week will run from August 26 to September 1st (Monday to Sunday)! Please remember to tag your works appropriately and to check back in here as I will be sharing any I see! personally, i love how many different ships the atla fandom has. it's cool to see how everyone views the show and the interactions between the characters. some are really creative. it never occurred to me that people would ship aang and azula, but if makes them happy, i love it. ship wars are all so unnecessary. the existence of one ship doesn't undermine the existence of another. peace and love my friends. peace and love

God I LOVE Azulaang for many reasons but one of the best ones has got to be that it confirms that Aang has a type and it’s “My Friend’s Sister”

Two weeks ago, I fell into the Azulaang rabbit hole, and I am not sure how to get out. Now, I am not an Azula apologist, nor do I believe that Azula needs a redemption arc. That being said, if we have to give her one, I decided she'd join the Air Acolytes, perhaps after being exiled to live in the Western Air temple (Nepolian style)

Zutara/Azulaang - Dominant wives

Aang: Hey Zuko, I hear your wife has been quite the controversial authority figure for the Fire Nation. Some love her, some hate her.

Zuko: Yeah, for a waterbender, Katara has the passion of a firebender.

Aang: And you've been acting more like a cool-headed waterbender, you have the lightningbending to prove it. Balance through irony.

Zuko: Yeah. Is...uh...is your wife behaving yourself?

Aang: Well, Azula hasn't zapped me to death twice, as you can see. The Phoenix Queen and I helped Toph construct a metalbending academy. She's like Katara, Toph, and Bumi if they were firebenders.

Zuko: It's still a bit strange to see that side of her, she's been so good at bottling up her emotions for so long, that I just assumed she never had any to begin with.

Aang: You can thank her for opening her chakras and revealing these hidden depths.

Zuko: There are days when our wives teaming up and planning something worries me more than them fighting each other.

Aang: Tell me about it, together, they are weapons of mass destruction but we can't help loving them anyway and I'll always be grateful that they are getting along.

It’s so funny to me that we got art of the grown-up Gaang so late after the series ended.

Because in those intervening years, I pictured Aang and Toph being small adults. I mean they’re both literally based on Chinese people (and Tibet).

So Toph would continue to be this force to be reckoned with, but look unassuming- the Pint-Sized Powerhouse trope, or Cute Bruiser.

And Aang would always be this dainty-looking airbender who was maximally enabled to fling himself in the air and flip and stuff

as it goes,

He'd fly through the air with the greatest of ease

A daring young man on the flying trapeze

His movements were graceful, all girls he could please

So now I’m reflecting on the fact that I’ve just written a passage that references almost-sixteen year old Aang’s ‘canon’ height, and reminiscing about when I wrote older!Toph as a moderately-muscly-but-still-small woman.

Azulaang Week 2024 General Info!!!!

Just an FYI before I do compile the full azulaang prompt list for Azulaang week, by the looks of it it's happening in the last week of august (there was a majority for mid-late august, with a non-insignificant portion voting for early septemeber, so I've decided final week of august is the best option), giving you around 2.5 months to prepare your azulaang week submission when i release the prompts in a week or so!

Be sure to tag your work with "#Azulaang Week 2024" or "Azulaang Week 2024" on ao3 (or a relevent and applicable substitution for whatever platform you post on! You can also add your submissions to the Azulaang Week 2024 AO3 Collection.

I will also share any submissions i see on tumblr so be sure to check in during the week to see what's posted!
