MCYT Yuri Week; Day Two - AU/ Post Canon
"You loved me?"
Wordcount: 776
AO3 Link
Being wanted for your own murder was something Gem never once thought she’d have to deal with, let alone welcome the accusations. It certainly made her job easier, even if she’d prefer not being hated by nearly every faction.
When she goes to an old ally for help, long kept secrets are revealed in a way neither expected.
Gem knew contacting the villains was risky. She knew it would only push the public’s opinion of her further from vigilante than it had ever been.
(She knew having to face her old friend, twisted into someone dark from rage and grief, would hurt more than leaving her behind the first time.)
But it was something she had to do. If she wanted to take down the organisation, if she wanted to stop anyone else from becoming like her, Boatem was her best chance. She just hoped they’d send anyone for the meeting except-
“You’ve got some nerve, Refraction. Asking us, asking me for help, after what you’ve done?”
“Eclipse. I thought I was going to speak with Conductor.”
Gem kept her voice even despite the knife at her throat. Refraction didn’t show emotion. Refraction couldn’t show any form of weakness. Maybe she would come clean after her job was done, but it was safer for everyone if she remained detached.
“He decided to let me take the lead on this. My first real mission as one of them, deciding whether we help you…” The knife pressed further into her throat, a trickle of blood warm against the cool of the night. Gem tried to pretend the thumping of her heart was from adrenaline. “Or whether you bleed out right here, right now.”
She let out a long laugh, high with a hint of madness, and nothing like the warmth her laughter used to hold. But it wasn’t productive to think about the past. Not yet.
“Is this how Inferno felt? When you trapped her in a burning building? I’m sure you thought it was all very ironic, or maybe you thought it was justice,” Eclipse hissed into her ear. “You make me sick.”
“I don’t see how she’s relevant to this. Villains aren’t supposed to be attached to heroes, and you don’t have to like me to give me the information I need.”
In a moment Eclipse had withdrawn the knife, flipping her onto the ground with a force that took the air from her lungs, showing nothing but rage as she shoved a knee into her chest to keep her down.
“Inferno was a better person than you’ll ever be. If anyone would have been able to change the system from inside it would have been her. But you robbed her of the chance to even try.”
“Inferno was an idiot!” Gem shouted, anger shattering her carefully even tone. “She was just another pawn for the heroes, never once questioning them! She wouldn’t have changed anything!”
Admittedly, it wasn’t a smart idea to piss off the villain currently in a murderous mood, but she couldn’t stand the thought of being martyred. She hadn’t ‘died’ a hero, in any sense of the word, and she’d certainly never been smart enough to see through the cracks of the organisation in life.
The knife slashed across her face and she had to scramble to keep her mask attached, caring more for her identity than the wound itself.
“I was going to get her out.” Eclipse’s voice was flat. She was never calm, always full of emotions, and the emptiness was almost scarier than her mania. “We had a plan. It was just a matter of waiting for the right time to explain things. Then you took that chance away.”
“Why do you even care? She wasn’t your partner, and I know you wouldn’t be this worked up if it was someone like Glacier.”
“I care because I loved her!”
The world stopped. Eclipse’s breath was harsh and her eyes were wide, like she hadn’t meant to admit it, but the words seemed to echo through the otherwise quiet night. Gem couldn’t help the response that slipped out.
“You… you loved me?”
After a pause, a devastatingly long moment in which they were the only two people in the world, Eclipse reached down to tug away her mask.
“...Spark? You’re- why didn’t you tell me? You let me think you were dead, I was about to kill you for- for murdering yourself!”
Gem allowed herself a moment before she acted. A moment to imagine reaching up, pulling Eclipse, Ray, Golden, whichever of the thousand little nicknames they’d come up with together, into a hug so tight they could never separate again.
The moment passed.
She shoved Eclipse off her, scrambling up and pulling the crystal from her neck to hold it towards the sky. The moonlight shone through it and she used her power to amplify it until it was blinding.
By the time it cleared, Gem was gone.
Conductor delivered the information she needed three days later.

(AO3 - prev)
After discussing the details of being the 'royal stunt double' for a little while, Bigb was dismissed by king Ren, who clarified that he really meant it this time. So he left the throne room and descended down a narrow spiral staircase all the way to the ground. He was about to head outside, when he noticed an odd sound, like someone pounding their fists against a wall repeatedly.
He traced the sound to a diorite wall to the right of the door. He approached the wall and then, hesitantly, called out.
“Hello?”
The pounding stopped. Faintly, a voice responded from the other side; Etho's voice. “Ren? Is that you?”
“No, I'm- uh. Yeah. I'm totally Ren. Etho, is that you?”
“E- what? No, I'm Joel. Ren, do you see any buttons where you are?”
“Buttons?” Bigb was fairly certain he did hear Etho's voice, but then again, he looked like Ren now. Maybe the same thing had happened to 'Joel'. “Nope. No buttons here. Why?”
“Well, I'm in this big dark room, and I can see that there's a piston door here, but I can't find any way to open it, so I thought maybe the way to open it was on your side? But I guess not, so-” he made a hysterical laughing sort of noise, which definitely sounded like something Joel would do- “well, that's fine!”
“Okay. Alright, don't worry, I can get you out of there,” Bigb replied. He scanned the room again. There weren't any buttons, but he did see an observer in the floor, with some candles on top of it. “There's an observer here. I can try and trigger it, see if that-”
“No! Dude, don't just trigger an observer, that's probably a trap!”
“I mean, it sounds to me like you're already trapped. I don't think we have much to lose.”
“Trapped?” Joel made another noise. “I'm not trapped at all! I could easily break out of here, it's just very dark, and I don't have a blumming pickaxe in my inventory, and, well, a god of the sky just isn't supposed to be in a dungeon like this, and-”
This was getting out of hand. “I'm triggering the observer,” Bigb said.
“DON'T YOU DARE-”
Bigb reached down and grabbed one of the candles standing on the observer. It clicked.
Behind him, pistons retracted, and then someone collided with him.
Joel breathed out sharply, sounding relieved. He made no attempt to move away from Bigb, so Bigb just awkwardly hugged him instead. I sure am getting personal with these guys today, he thought. Strangely enough, he didn't recognise Joel's features at all. He had pale skin, and white hair, and a scar over his eye-
No, wait. He recognised that scar. And the top half of his face. And the piece of dark blue fabric that was now hanging around Joel's neck.
Joel finally pulled back. “I wasn't scared or anything, you know. If you th-”
“Dude, your mask!” Bigb interrupted him.
“My mask? You mean this thing? I don't- wait.” Joel looked at the mask he had pulled down, then at the rest of his outfit-- Etho's outfit. He tapped on his face around the scarred eye. “Oh. Well, I guess that explains where my depth perception went...”
Bigb continued to stare at his- at Etho's mouth. “This is surreal. I feel like I just walked in on somebody naked.”
Joel let out a hum. He sure was making a lot of noises today. “Then- if I look like Etho but am actually Joel, does that mean you're actually Bigb?”
“Yeah.” Bigb nodded.
Joel nodded too. “I thought you didn't sound like Ren.” Then he pulled the mask back over his face and said: “Well... Bigb. Can we agree to forget about, just... this whole encounter?”
Bigb chuckled. “Sure. I can do that.”
“Sweet. Thanks,” Joel replied, then opened the door-- a regular door-- and went outside. About three seconds later, he came back and asked: “By the way, where the heck are we?”
“I have no idea.”
---
Gem opened her eyes, and cracked her knuckles. Both other members of the soup group were away, doing some sort of hardcore challenge, which meant she had a few hours to work on her base with no distractions-
Oh, nevermind. The player list showed that Impulse had already arrived, and a bunch of the other participants too. That was strange. The game was supposed to last around 24 hours, maybe more-- and 17 hours was not 'around 24', in Gem's opinion.
“Well, I guess that's what happens when you trust Grian to estimate a time,” Gem said, and sighed. “Goodbye, productivity.” Then she solemnly grabbed a rocked and flew into the sky.
Impulse wasn't in his own base, which meant he was probably at the shopping district. Flying in that direction, she found him soon enough- about halfway to spawn, in a screaming match with Bdubs for some reason.
“...whole time, I was thinking, 'I can't wait to be back so I'll be taller than Impulse again', and now this has happened!” Impulse shouted as she approached the two of them.
“Well what do you want me to do about it? I didn't cause this!” Bdubs shouted back.
“Impulse!” Gem yelled, interrupting the argument. Both of them jumped as she landed on the ground.
“Hi Gem!” they both said, almost in unison.
“Guys, what's happening? Do I need to slay somebody?”
“Th- no, no, that won't be necessary,” Impulse said. He didn't quite sound like himself.
“Good. Impulse, what were you even saying, about being taller than... yourself?”
“Uh- okay, that does sound weird, but it makes sense, I promise,” Impulse replied. “You see... hm. How do I put this...”
“Oh, Pearl's just gotten back,” Bdubs interrupted, looking at his chat.
“Pearl's gotten back... or... somebody else?” Impulse replied.
“Yeah. We should probably go greet... them.”
They had yet to explain anything. Impulse and Bdubs took off flying, and Gem followed them. “Okay, would somebody explain what the heck is going on?” she asked as she caught up.
“Yeah, we probably should,” Impulse replied. He slowed down, and for some reason stuck his hand out towards her. “Hi. I'm Bdubs. Nice to meet you.”
“Wha-” Gem stopped herself, and sighed. “Okay, first of all, if you're Bdubs then we've already met, so there's no point introducing yourself again. Second of all, I just left my larping world, so I'd appreciate if you didn't-”
“We're not larping!” 'Bdubs' yelled. Admittedly, his tone of voice did sound a lot like Bdubs'. Ahead, the real Bdubs-- was that Impulse now?-- landed in front of Pearl.
“Hi. How you feeling?” he said to her. Yep, that sounded like Impulse.
“Very confused,” Pearl responded in a Scottish accent. “I don't know where I am, I wasn't expecting to see you again- no offense- and I have the body of-”
“Of Pearl. Yeah.” Bdubs nodded. “Welcome to the club, Scott.”
“Scott?” Gem repeated.
“Gem!” Pearl- no, Scott- turned to her. “Can I have a word with you, privately?”
The two of them walked away from Impulse and Bdubs. Scott grabbed Gem's shoulder and whispered: “Where are we? What is this place?”
“This is Hermitcraft. I live here. Welcome!”
“You... live here? Don't you live in Dawn?” Scott said, confirming Gem's suspicions: not only was this the same Scott she knew, but he was still acting in character.
Gem replied: “Well, I live here too.”
“Okay,” he replied, looking up and around at the fantastical landscape Pearl had terraformed. “Do you know how I can get back to Chromia from here?”
Gem hummed. Scott wasn't whitelisted to Hermitcraft, so the only way he could be here is if he got Pearl's permissions as well, but she wasn't whitelisted to Empires. “I'm not sure you can.”
“I- excuse me? I can't just stay here, I have a responsibility to my empire! As do you, by the way!” Scott said, looking at Gem sternly. Classic Scott; he wouldn't break character if his life depended on it. Also, he was taller than Gem now, which she did not like.
“Oh, relax, I'm sure it'll be fine. Also, I can go over to Dawn whenever I like. I was just there!”
“Oh.” Scott looked down, then at Gem again. “In that case, can you also keep an eye on Chromia when you return? As a favor?”
Gem sighed. “Yeah, okay,” she said. “I can do that.”
As if she didn't have enough to do already.

ghost whisperer Shun go brr
[ID: Screenshot of a Google text document with the following text:
"“You should’ve swept the floor with his face.” Shun rolled his eyes.
“Don’t be mean, Niisan, remember I’m trying to win the tournament with as little bloodshed as possible.” He walked to his dressing room, nimble fingers already loosening the straps around his shoulder covers.
“He’s that little princess’ bootlicker, it would hardly be bloodshed if his face is already friends with the floor.” Ikki walked right behind him, phasing through the door as it closed behind Shun. Nobody would suspect him of being a ghost with how naturally he moved, if they were able to see him.
By this point, Shun had stopped wondering about the hows and whys of his brother, about how he was still able to see his brother long after he had died."

They're here!✨️
Fusion deets under the cut! [Big Ramble]
So!! Aventurine is one of the most stable fusions in this au, as Mammon and El's personalities mesh very well bc they're both silly goofy lil guys. They are also the 2 that are most often fused for long periods of time because they get along so well, nearly garnet level of permafusion, but they do have to separate more often.
The inspo for them was japanese delinquents depicted in media [ex. Mondo from Dr1, Josuke from jjba], both Mammon and El are troublemakers, and their fusion is no acception to that trait. Also! I designed them to fit each other so they would fit this fusion bc Aventurine came to me before either of them were polished designs, and I really liked the concept!
Because of Elliot's attempted shattering, his gem [and psyche] is permanently cracked and can't be healed by any diamond's healing ability. This will carry onto every fusion he's part of. That's why the right side of Aventurine's sunglasses are cracked, so they can display that trait when the color of their glasses cover their one blind eye.
Aventurine's personality takes after Mammon the most, with Elliot's calm demeanor taking a backseat [unless they're destroying smthn, that usually all Elliot]. That being said, this is one of the more intelligent / tech-savvy fusions as well, combining Mammon's nearly instantaneous calculations and problem solving skills, and Elliot's extreme dedication to learning a new concept or hobby every few weeks and you get a very surprisingly intelligent fusion[to some].
Cocky and a bit of a smart-ass, It isn't uncommon to hear them go "Bow before the Great Aventurine!" puffing their chest out and strutting about the au equivalent of the House of Lamentation [possibly a ship? Currently unknown]. Though they're known to be a harbinger of mischief, Aventurine is a very level-headed and well-balanced fusion, so y'all will probably be seeing more of them sooner than later.

“Named” Todolf fae au. If you are new since I did the other fae au stuff, then I recommend you read the earlier drabbles in this verse on ao3.
This one is for the lovely @adridoesstuff :) after you mentioned fae au yesterday this idea has refused to leave my mind.
Cut because fae au, though strictly speaking this drabble isn’t actually all that bad.
Even after he’s fae, fully and properly, he and Tod only watch at the mingling, lying contently in each other’s arms. They enjoy each other in the privacy of their bed, sometimes before, so Rudolf can feel the deep ache as they listen to the sounds of pleasure around them as they exchange lazy kisses, and sometimes after, their lust stoked by the lust of the others as it permeates the air.
It’s one of the times when Tod has thoroughly and utterly sated them both beforehand, so much so that Rudolf is amazed that he even managed to walk in himself, that the thought first comes into Rudolf’s mind, between the moans all around them, filtering through the gossamer curtains.
Rudolf hadn’t been looking at all at the others, content to gaze up at Tod as his fingers lazily drew spirals on the king’s bare chest. Tod’s arm was around him, his thumb making gentle little soothing motions just at Rudolf’s waist.
Rudolf. His name. It was the only thing left, that had come before Tod. He didn’t remember the surface world. Tod had told him of it on occasion, and had shown him a few sketches. But Rudolf didn’t care to remember anything before the sunless sky, before Tod’s arms, before Tod. Tod is his world, his life, his everything.
The gentle fingers that stroke his cheek, that tilt his chin up to gaze at Tod’s luminous eyes are so welcome, though Rudolf can tell Tod has recognized the turmoil in his thoughts. He leans up, pressing a little kiss to Tod’s jawline.
I’m fine. We’ll talk later.
Tod presses a kiss to his brow in turn and cradles him closer, slotting their legs more properly together.
They continue to lay there, Rudolf rarely moving, just listening to the sounds around them, feeling the steady rise and fall of Tod’s chest, the beating of his heart, the warmth of his skin. He is loathed to do so but he does break the spell after a time, slipping more fully into Tod’s lap, humming at the ache in his body as he and Tod trade deeply possessive kisses. Tod’s fingers find Rudolf’s and they mesh together as Tod pulls Rudolf closer still.
They kiss again, and Tod lazily flips them so Rudolf is gazing up at him, hands arched above his head for a moment before they go to Tod’s shoulders, giving little tugs. Tod doesn’t indulge him immediately, slowly lowering himself until they are chest to chest, legs fully intertwined once more. A few more slow kisses follow before Tod shifts them once more, returning Rudolf to his earlier place, tucked into Tod’s side.
--------------
The mingling is long over by the time they stand once more in their chambers, Rudolf’s clever fingers keeping busy as he helps Tod into his sleeping garb. His own is easy enough to attend to alone, but Tod never minds the help. It’s different, in a way. Where once they were opposites - Rudolf in garb white as snow, even for sleep, and Tod in inky black - now they are mirror images, the black stark against their pale skin.
But even as Tod reclines in bed, Rudolf nuzzling close, kissing the king’s jaw once more, he speaks.
“Something troubles you.”
“Yes, Majesty.” Tod has never asked him to use his title. Never when he was small, never even at court, with the others. But Rudolf likes the way it sounds, and he thinks Tod quite likes the way it flows off his tongue.
Perhaps once Tod would have had to tip Rudolf’s chin up so their eyes would meet, but not anymore. Rudolf meets the king’s eyes with ease, feeling the king’s thumb begins to make little soothing circles by his waist, where the sleep pants and shirt meet.
“I was just thinking about what I remember, from when I was young. And the thought occurred to me - this name, Rudolf. It’s from the surface, from the human world.”
Tod’s grip adjusts a little as they settle further, but he doesn’t speak, waiting patiently as Rudolf finds the right words.
“I don’t remember anything of the surface. And I find I mislike having my name be such a constant reminder, of there. I-” Rudolf’s eyes had been shifting, not downward but away from Tod’s. He looks back at the king, who is listening intently. “I was hoping you would give me a new one.”
“Oh, my precious prince.” Tod presses a kiss to Rudolf’s brow. “It would be my honor.”
They lay together for a long moment before Tod rises, much to Rudolf’s dissatisfaction, but he goes along with the king to their little balcony, the one that overlooks the gardens. The trees and fruits are so different in the dim light. Some wilted and withered, asleep, while a select few are fully blossomed, their own sleep being something for the day.
Tod’s arm remains around him, as they take in the gardens for a long moment before the king turns to him, touching their foreheads.
“Golnar.” One of the king’s hands has moved to stroke Rudolf’s cheek as he pronounces the new name.
Rud- Golnar. It will take some getting used to, but he quite likes the name the king has chosen. Golnar is his name now. He raises himself onto his toes to kiss the king’s cheek in thanks.
“Thank you.”
