I like to think the pilot of that AT-M6 was trying to psych himself up with the growly stomp.

Like, imagine the conflicted stress. You're already running point on the advance (hastily put together from the mess that Resistance ramming attack made of the flagship, I mean what in void's name happened there? Shaken doesn't begin to cover it) and sure, he's just one guy and your walker is built around an enormous bloody gun, and there are a bunch of others anyway, but this is the man that the top brass have been after for years and he's just standing there like the FUCK is that, and now the Supreme Leader's gone very quiet and you don't like that either-

OK, breathe. Come on, soldier. Deep breath in, out. Yeah, we've got this. Got that big bloody cannon, right? Let's do the stomp. That always feels good. Yeah...

Asked Mitaka if he'd thought about a way I can help with his musical when he's done writing it, since he doesn't really need me to build anything.

He thought about it for a second and asked, "How's your aim?"

"Amazing," I replied.

"Excellent. Would you like to operate a spotlight?"

"What does that involve?"

"You shine a big light on the actors."

"That. . . sounds like more of a job for a lamp than a human."

"They're not stationary! You have to follow them with the light while they perform. Think of it like this: You're the gunner on an AT-M6 and you have to keep your 'target' (the actor) within the beam of your 'laser' (the spotlight) at all times."

"Okay. That sounds a little more like fun. Will my 'targets' be trying to evade my. . . uh. . . blaster fire'?"

Mitaka let out a long sigh. "It appears that way much more often than I would prefer. "

Asra - on top of the desert house. The stars shine bright, the wind brings the desert's scent, the bricks are still hot and the air is cool.

Nadia - that huge bathtub of hers, at dusk, when the city starts to glow behind the window.

Julian - the back of some infamous pub or nightclub, with the voices and music still ringing in your ears and the fear of being found.

Portia - her big, comfy bed. The morning sun sliding in through the lace curtains and the breakfast on her bed table still hot and fuming.

Muriel - on that big, soft patch of musk just next to the waterfall. The water sometimes gets to your backs, making you shiver.

Lucio - the opera theater, in his big opulent box, barely hidden by the darkness and the music.

It is once again time to ramble a bit about something from TLJ which I think is really neat and tonight that is: the decision to not take us inside the AT-M6s. It would be easy to just have some interior shots (and it would be like a thing from an earlier SW film, which at this stage is an applause freebie), but the avoidance keeps us with the Resistance characters (and Kylo and Hux), and it keeps these huge walkers monstrous.

Today, I wanted to try my idea of creating a lightning blaster by combining the break room toaster with a Super Soaker. Once I'd built the prototype, I decided to go ahead and try it out on that dead turbolaser on our AT-M6.

I would now like to offer a public apology to everyone who was in the hangar with me at the time.

For any officer whose uniform was damaged or destroyed by the flames, I will be happy to make repairs or sew you a new one as needed.

Sorry about the smoke inhalation, FN-3791. I promise to visit you in medbay. Get well soon, buddy.

And I'll replace the toaster next pay day.

Thankfully, the AT-M6 was fine, so I can try other repair methods once the nerve endings in my hands heal.
