"Love is what makes us human" no no no no no no NO SHUT UP!!! IT'S ART!!! IT'S ALWAYS BEEN ART!! Ever since the beginning of time, humans have been creating! They got home from their hunt and harvest and made cave paintings! That shit is still around tens of thousands of years later!! The nature of humans is the pursuit of knowledge of creation! Paintings, pottery, sculpting, music, performances, it's how we express our soul, what we're thinking, our heart and mind! Literally no other animal (or AI, Gods forbid) can create art like we can! Thousands of different animals can love and have sex but humans are unique because we CREATE. Nothing will ever stop us from creating and enjoying creations. That's what makes us human. Without art we're a husk.

I won’t go too in depth about why I dislike her, because I’d be here typing for hours, but,

I have several reasons for my dislike of the light fury, the main one being that she is a plot device.

Being a plot device on its own isn’t necessarily bad, but it’s the fact that she has no character at all other than ‘Grr I hate human, human bad I’m a female.’ This is the character I’m supposed to believe Toothless up and left Hiccup for and i can’t tell you anything about her other than she’s wild, hates humans and it’s kind of an ass.

The other main reason is her design. Bland, looks like a Pokémon and is unbearably feminine. Tiny feet that at some points are literally smaller than her pupils, smoothed out scales with little to no defined edges, smooth wing membranes (what the fuck??? Why are the parts of her that are meant to move the most so stiff???) no spikes because she’s a female!!! Can’t possibly have any sharp edges because woman!!!

Her entire character is being a girly dragon and her only purpose is to be Toothless’ girlfriend. It was a cheap ending to an amazing franchise and I will FOREVER be salty.

But I do like drawing light furies because I like making them look like they’d actually fit in universe

Hey yeah I get that 14 year old artist being more "talented" than you is making you feel like shit about your art but like can you like not take it out on them. You're just making young people feel horrible for being good at something they love. Is their art supposed to be ugly or something. They have more resources than you did at their age of course they're going to be able to progress quicker. So fucking what if their art is "better" than yours. Ask them for tips! Don't just wallow in a pit of self misery because someone younger than you is "better" at something than you are.

Oh and also, treat teenagers like fucking people. Why does their age matter so much dude you can still learn from them. Fuck

For me, the most horrible thing to paint when doing Sherlock fanart is... take a guess

No, not the wallpaper, I got used to doing it.

No, also not his hair (it is not easy, but I can manage)

No, also not the kitchen tiles (I don't love to do them, but it's okay).

It is the freaking red carpet !!!!

It never looks right. The pattern is abysmal to paint, takes ages to do so and the colours are so different in different light. Get it wrong and the entire room looks off... and it seems I always get it wrong.

I am so done with it.

Shout out to my fellow artists that flunked art classes constantly. Whohoo for when my highest grade in drawing was a D-. Pouring one out for all the sculptures that I finished but got F's for in participation-graded ceramics. Cheers for being personally asked to not sign up for creative writing again. Here's to only passing painting for memorizing the art history unit. High five for being suspended because of introduction to culinary arts. Congrats on only being kept in graphic design because the student quantity quota was one away from cancelling the class. This one goes out to all my fellow failed art students that never got it right, were too enthusiastic or weird or unable to explain, directionless or repetative or uninspired, never met expectations or were shamed out of turning in projects. Special acknowledgement to anyone else who's self portraits were graded as ugly or unflattering.

Art is subjective. Just make what you want.

I love art so much. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but damn, every time someone shits on the modern and contemporary eras of art, I can’t help but get disheveled. Each piece has a story, a method, a history on why it deserves to be placed in a museum.

“I could create that,” then do it. Please. We need more art. From every emotion. It’s can be completely absurd, abstract, or meaningless. But the thought, effort and the story you had with it. That’s what matters. That’s what makes people appreciate these artists so much.

I’ve seen pieces dedicated to lives experiences and memories of minority groups be called “useless”, “ugly” and “a waste of space.”

Paintings showing the clear mastery of the artists’ skill being labeled as “simple,” or “child’s play,” as of children’s art is any less meaningful. As if it matters less that way. They don’t even bother to research why they’re worth so much. They never bother to research their techniques, at all.

Paintings that by the average person’s standards be labeled as, “mediocre,” or “ordinary,” when the reason why they hold so much value, is their story. How much the artists have suffered, loved, lived… and died through.

How so much are dedicated to passed loved ones. Loved lands. Loved cultures.
