ARG Notes: Partial work on deciphering the Gen Loss 2 trailer Founder Cipher
I have not actually cracked it. I'm sure it's been solved already; I haven't checked. But in case it's helpful, here's some stuff I assembled: First I took the code in the 2024/09/01 trailer titled "From the Desk of The Founder". Then I transcribed it into a "Deciphering Alphabet" - this is not what the glyphs represent, yet, but assuming that each glyph = an english letter, you can now use this in deciphering tools or just using a keyboard.
Tumblr media
Hey, you can make all these glyphs by chopping up (and rotating) the genloss logo. Cute!
Tumblr media
Anyhow then I transcribed all the text in the trailer to form this "Founder code corpus". Which is obviously garbled since this is not the real translation:
ABCDEFGH. EFCAGBDEI JKLIMOMOCPIQOFJL. AFBBIOEICFDMI EILBMCPEHILQR. LRQIMMJDIAOSNN. LAOSNBITLNBQMCCHA. QTBIEICPBEHLM. BMMFJIDJMMI SCRAIUEMNIRQL. BQTIEICDUMILQRI MDMJIEVOHMAN. EINMKBIAFBBILQRI JMMDIANHVMEO. EIKBMNIMUNEI EIHPNQLILPCOLSGMEI LJMSIFBDEIRQL. APCIEIHPNLQ. LOIEIEPP. EIBAFDHPMIOAIRSI QNCMEKMHCILPCQMNKP. QLRIMOQHPAI BSOFLGEMCIKBRJEGMJEC. FBMIOLMFBJINLPQHI CRNLIFHBAD,IOAIPQNLHIE. BEIAODIQNMBAQKET. LRQIJMMDIAMKENTQBQ. QBTIBEIDOAI BCLIMJHVBKM. QLRIMMJDI BCLIKMJVHMB. QBTIBBAFI DOAIRLAU. But then I was like oh shit, the | characters ("I" in the Deciphering Alphabet") aren't characters, they're spaces - in every panel where there are two lines of text on the screen, the | always happens at the end of the earlier lines of text, where you would naturally break a line.
So let's replace all the |s with spaces and otherwise ignore the line breaks, putting every sentence on a separate line.
ABCDEFGH. EFCAGBDE JKL MOMOCP QOFJL. AFBB OE CFDM E LBMCPEH LQR. LRQ MMJD AOSNN. LAOSNB TLNBQMCCHA. QTB E CPBEHLM. BMMFJ DJMM SCRA UEMN RQL. BQT E CDUM LQR MDMJ EVOHMAN. E NMKB AFBB LQR JMMD ANHVMEO. E CAH BMJHMA MFOGSEB E HCA MHJMBA ECGBFMSOL JMBMHKV. E NDNE HMJABM SLEFGOCBM HVJMBMK.
Now I tried a few things and don't know where to go next. Dcode.fr's monoalphabetic substitution cipher solver and boxentrio's cryptogram solver are both some of the more usable solving tools for manipulating the text but this might not be a simple substitution cipher. Good luck! I'm taking a break, let me know if you find anything out of this.

🟢 Thursday - ISRAEL REALTIME - Connecting to Israel in Realtime
🌡HEAT WARNING.. very high temps the next 2 days across Israel + high humidity along the coast. Hydrate, don’t forget your children in the car, check your elderly, don’t hike.
▪️IS THE IDF DEPLOYING SUICIDE APC’s IN GAZA?  Arab reports the IDF is using suicide APC, driving into dangerous urban areas and taking down entire streets. These are old M113 armored personnel carriers no longer safe for soldier use.  (( Evaluation: Possible. ))
♦️STRONG EXPLOSIONS overnight in Gaza City, bunker/tunnel busting bombing.  Rumbles felt to Tel Aviv and Beit Shemesh.
▪️SOCIETAL CONFLICT.. leading rabbinical figure of the charedi world declared learning yeshiva students should NOT respond to an IDF conscription order - his hand written instructions published on the front page of a charedi paper.  IDF officials went to confirm the statement, and it was confirmed.  His associates try to soften: it should be noted that those who do not study are not referred to in the letter.  The charedi paper HaModia has taken a milder position.
.. Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, MK Edelstein: "Comprehensive legislation of the conscription law is the only way to prevent chaos in the security system." Edelstein published a schedule of the meetings in the committee.
▪️IDF REPORTS ON SHEJAIA BATTLES.. forces eliminated dozens of terrorists, destroyed combat compounds and booby trapped buildings.  Forces destroyed two underground routes in which eight tunnels were destroyed.  Weapons, laptops and communication equipment captured in the tunnels. Equipment for a long stay and electricity and gas infrastructure used by terrorists was located and destroyed.
▪️EGYPT GAZA BORDER PLANS.. The process of placing sensors along the border corridor may take several months.  Israel also plans to build an underground wall to combat smuggling tunnels from Egypt to the Gaza Strip, similar to the wall that prevented the penetration of Hamas attack tunnels into Israeli territory, in the next step to ensure the prevention of smuggling operations from Egypt.
🔸DEAL NEWS.. A senior US official told the Washington Post that an agreement was reached on the "framework" of the deal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of hostages, and that the parties are now "discussing the details of how it will be implemented." Other senior officials warned that although a framework exists, a final agreement "is not Inevitable", and the work on the details is complex.
.. Israel and Hamas agreed that neither would govern Gaza in the 2nd phase.  TWho will be the police force in Gaza? 2,500 Palestinians, "affiliated with the Palestinian Authority", which Israel will approve by name, and will undergo training by the US and other countries.
▪️HIGH COURT TO HEAR PETITION AGAINST LAW ALLOWING DETENTION OF NUCHBA TERRORISTS.. Today the High Court will discuss a petition against the legislation, passed in three unanimous readings, and makes it easier to incarcerate the massacring baby killing raping terrorists of Oct. 7.    Among the petitioners: Doctors for Human Rights “the international community is called upon to exert pressure on Israel", and the left declares that Israel is making "manipulative use of reports of sexual violence" in the massacre.   Many are wondering how the High Court could grant the right to petition against a UNANIMOUS WAR LAW passed on the blood of over 1,200 children, women and men to consider the rights of the mass murderers.
▪️SIREN TESTS.. today, Zikim 13:05 and Tukuma 15:05.
♦️COUNTER-TERROR OPS.. overnight, Al-Bira.

Fear in the Realm of Fire
Entrance to Bloodstar is just the challenging feat as one would imagine. I readily admit that my first smuggling run there was mostly chance, having slipped in during a small commotion at the blast walls caused by some particularly audacious scavengers. I've since learned to shadow a certain type of crowd to the borders, ones who will occupy the soldiers without provoking them into a full sweep. If no such groups are available, I simply conduct business in the Outer Wastes until an opportunity arises.
Step inside Praedis with clandestine intent, and the mindset of occupation falls into place. A city built above itself, with metal roads held between skyscraper pincers, and verdant boulevards with three stacked layers under false sunlight. All of it joined as though one great scaffold, with a thousand corners to hide in and six directions to reach them by. The solution: no inch out of sight from the Republic's military. Ramped accessways for civilian traffic, and cargo lift priority for the APCs. Gently followed wherever you walk by the curious eye of a gun nest's IMG barrel. Hardfire walls that shutter entire districts, and flash orders to lie on the ground in searing neon letters. Once, a nervous driver noticed the projectors fizzle and made to outrun them. A moment slower, and they too would've been cut in half along with their car.
You hear countless tales up and down there. Patriotic boasts, rebellious rallies, disillusioned longing for the lifestyle of the stateless wanderers. The latest atrocities of the Old Order and the Sulphurous. Occasionally, a forbidden love story between the warring factions. Very rarely, an eccentric theory on the fate of the Forgemasters. And then, there's a story you never hear. The one you can feel in everyone's mind when the topic drifts too close to state experiments, or the astonishing leap in inferno technology. People's words lurch mid-sentence, like an arm pulled away from a flame. Instinctive fear. To the Ashen, technology is almost religion, and this queer faith has its demon, its antagonist. My curiosity was too powerful. I made a transaction. For knowledge.
What is it about the human mind that gives it such capacity for violence? An indecipherable network of feelings and impulses, so they spun the tale. The animal instinct to destroy dangers and opponents, suppressed and funnelled by a tangled web of personhood. What if, through diligent study, you could remove the person from its path? What if that mental shutter to hatred could be replaced with a synthetic, ever-open gateway? Conjoin the power of mortal rage with the surgical precision of a computer… where would the equilibrium fall, between the incensed and the unfeeling? I paid to know. And I almost regret it.
They called it Project Amalgam. They told me it was out there, in any of a thousand corners in six directions. And they told me a machine can hate.
I quickly took my leave.

Why Russia still has(had) so many tanks.
UN: “Okay, so with this Treaty on the Convention of Armed Forces in Europe (1990), this will limit the number of tanks all sides are allowed to have, at maximum.”
US: “Agreed.”
USSR: “Agreed.”
NATO: “Agreed.”
UN: “All sides will have a maximum of:
20K Main Battle Tanks, 30K Armored Personnel Carriers/Infantry Combat Vehicles, 1.5K heavy armament combat vehicles, 20K pieces of artillery, 6,800 Combat Aircraft, 2K attack helicopters.”
US: “Sure.”
USSR: “OK.”
NATO: “Yeah.”
UN: “So, if you have more than this number, by the rules of this treaty and others like it, if you want the benefits and advantages conferred, you have to adhere to the letter of the law.”
USSR starts moving tens of thousands of its armored vehicles into Siberia. But pointedly, not dismantling them immediately, as the spirit of the treaty kind of outlined.
UN: “Uh. USSR?”
USSR: “Yes?”
UN: “You’re supposed to destroy those.”
USSR: “Oh, no. The treaty just defines this as a European treaty. We just can’t have most of our forces west of the Ural Mountains of Europe. The USSR extends beyond Europe, so it doesn’t apply east of the Ural Mountain Range.”
UN: “The point of this treaty was you won’t possess armor in excess of twenty thousand tanks and such. Across the whole of the USSR.”
USSR: “And we don’t- west of the Ural Mountains.” :^)
UN: “This is not in the writing OR the spirit of the treaty, USSR.”
USSR: “It says right there Europe is defined as west of the Ural mountain range. Must be translation error on your side, comrade. Not our bad.”
UN: “This applies to the entire USSR, not just the European side.”
USSR: “Then the treaty should have specified. Not my problem. You all already signed. We get access from this treaty.”
UN: “It did and does, but specifying it applies to all the Soviet Socialist Republics, which you represent. You exist beyond the Ural Mountains and all the way to Siberia, and so does this treaty.”
USSR: ”Can’t hear you, mothballing tens of thousands of tanks, APCs, planes and boats, but storing them, over the limits set by this treaty. They aren’t in play and aren’t in the places where it applies, so no harm no foul. Goods, please. :^)”
NATO: “This is bullshit.”
UN: “Dude.”
US says nothing, listening to the two bicker. Playing on its Newton and making plans for anti-armor missiles that can be carried by infantry and produced en masse. Not alone, but y’know. Conspiring. Sweden, the UK, France, etc.
US: “It’s fine. Don’t worry about it.”

Ra, Scott, and me play L4D
It goes as well as can be expected. xD
[Ra]: Also, let it be noted, Scott is an asshole.
[Ra]: He left me and Becca and NPCBIll to DIE at the end of a L4D campaign.
[Ra]: And he robbed Becca of her achievement.
[Jess]: Ra: So noted. Death by zombies. Got it.
[Ra]: So Scott sucks.
[Ra]: Oh wait, Scott's not in here.
Scott entered the room.
[Ra]: >:o
[Scott]: There's been some stuff that's been said about me here.
[Scott]: And as we all know there are three sides to the story.
[Scott]: My side, ra's side, and the truth.
[Scott]: And the truth is that Ra is a dirty liar.
[Jess]: Does this make Becca's side the truth?
[Ra]: YOU RODE AWAY IN THE TRUCK.
[Ra]: AFTER BECCA WAS PUMMELED TO DEATH.
[Bex]: Yes. Yes. it does.
[Scott]: YES I DID.
[Ra]: AND I WAS BEING SWARMED.
[Scott]: IF BECCA HAD ALREADY DIED THEN HOW COULD I LEAVE HER TO DIE
[Scott]: YOUR LOGIC IS FLAWED
[Ra]: I SAID THAT SHE WAS PUMMELED TO DEATH
[Ra]: YOU LEFT ME TO DIE
[Luna]: This is awesome drama. *Eats cucumbers.*
[Ra]: AND ACTUALLY
[Scott]: [Ra]: He left me and Becca and NPCBIll to DIE at the end of a L4D campaign.
[Ra]: BECCA WOULD HAVE MADE IT
[Ra]: IF YOU WERE THERE TO HELP ME
[Ra]: SAVE HER
[Ra]: YOU ASS
[Ra]: YOU HOLE
[Ra]: YOU ASSHOLE
[Scott]: IT WAS CALLED SHOOTING FROM COVER
[Ra]: FROM THE TRUCK
[Ra]: AS THE DOOR WAS CLOSING
[Ra]: GOOD COVER
[Lotti]: Wat. XD
[Scott]: THE DOOR CLOSED WHEN YOU DIED
[Ra]: I WAS STILL ALIVE
[Ra]: BILL WAS RESURRECTIGN ME
{over Skype: "He was?"}
[Ra]: HE WAS
[Ra]: Man I was killing dozens of them as they swarmed me.
[Ra]: I could have maybe gotten an achievement!
[Bex]: I wish I'd had more bombs.
[Jess]: Guys, I know that you guys are parodying or some crap, but can you PLEASE step away from your caps locks?
[Ra]: Okay sorry.
[Scott]: Will do.
[Scott]: (it was the shift key)
[Ra]: i will rage in tinycap then
[Ra]: scott you asshole
[Ra]: you suck
[Jess]: Oh, it was fine for a bit. It just went on a bit too long, is all.
[Ra]: i know i look like im whispering this
[Ra]: but rest assured
[Ra]: i am yelling quite loudly
[Ra]: you asshole
[Scott]: It looks like a mouse squeaking.
[Scott]: Which is what your crying out sounded like to me.
[Ra]: i hope you die in a fire >:c
[Scott]: from the truck.
[Ra]: oh
[Ra]: oh
[Ra]: you did not go there
[Ra]: you did not go there
[Scott]: I can go whereever I want.
[Scott]: I'm in a big army APC.
[Ra]: in your truck?
[Scott]: Maybe they'll let me honk the horn.
[Ra]: i will remember this!
[Ra]: becca, next time we leave him to die
[Sam]: *Shares popcorn with Luna*
[Ra]: i am sure poor old npcbill agrees
[Ra]: when he stops running into things
[Bex]: Hey, hey, NPCBill kills way more things than we do.
[Scott]: NPC Bill cannot find his way up an escalator. Let's leave him out of this.
[Ra]: he does. fucker steals all the kills.
[Ra]: he can actually get up ladders.
[Ra]: unlike becca
[Bex]: Yes. >_>
[Ra]: ohwait I like becca
[Bex]: Doors and ladders! My nemeses!
[Scott]: He can manage ladders but not escalators? WTF.
[Ra]: The magic of bad AIs.
[Scott]: At the end of every level of L4D there is a safe room. You gotta get in and close the door to end the level.
[Scott]: For Becca, the door is like a boss level.
[Bex]: I do not steer well with lettered keys!
[Scott]: Killing zombies is nbd for her but DOORS?!!?
[Bex]: Doors are the devil.
[Ra]: *was listening to Scott and Becca being stuck in an eternal giddy fit. it was hilarious.*
[Ra]: I really should get a mic.
[Ra]: I can still trade this headphone in. I should go do that.
[Scott]: You totally should!
[Scott]: Then I can actually HEAR you crying as I escape.
[Scott]: :V :V :V
[Ra]: I will murder you with a rusty spoon.
[Scott]: Oh is THAT how you kill people?
[Ra]: I scoop out their eyeballs.
[Scott]: Wow, maybe that's why you suck at this game so much.
[Ra]: And FEED it to them.
[Scott]: You don't have a spoon.
[Ra]: ……………and you will CHOKE on it!
