“This is a song off of an album, anyway,” Jeff trails off, trying to let Eddie start the riff for the next song. But he's not about to let this go unchecked.
“Jeffrey,” he drags out the name into as many syllables as he can manage, giving the end a singsong-y trill. “Jeffrey, did you forget which album the next song is off of?”
Gareth isn't mic'd but Freak is, so he can hear that at least one of them picks up his teasing with an ooooh.
“We don't need to tell them what every album is, they paid good money to see us. Hell, some of them probably saw us when we were debuting it.”
“But you announced the last one,” Freak says.
“An excellent point, Freakazoid.” Eddie agrees, “And he certainly set this one up like he was going to share again, didn't he?”
“He did,” Freak's nod is a little more exaggerated than it needs to be, playing it up for the nosebleed seats in the crowd.
“We've got a set list to get to, these people don't wanna be here all night.” Jeff tries.
“This is a Corroded Coffin crowd, my man, they don't bow to the whims of things like a bedtime.”
“Thank you to everyone who took advantage of the AARP presale,” Gareth adds, the bit has gone on long enough that he's had stage crew bring him a mic.
“Gareth had his knee replaced three months ago and he's here. These old fogies can put up with the show going an extra twenty minutes, while we dig down on this right?”
The crowd cheers, Eddie only waves them on a bit to amp them up. He sends his shit eating-est grin Jeff’s way as they shout.
“See, it's fine. Now, did ye of the memory vitamin supplements forget what album the song was from?” He turns to the audience more directly, “The people want to know!”
“Fine, yes, you've written so many songs about fucking Steve, they've all started to blur together. Does that make you happy?”
“Thrilled,” and he is. It's the best thing he's heard all day, and he gets to be on stage again for three generations of fans. “This next one is off of Hunt the Freaks, and it's actually about him fucking me.”

idk if it's because my mum worked in a tv magazine or what but all the media wars and backstabbing and stuff happening behind the cameras is so so interesting to me
#just saw what happened yesterday in la revuelta ojalá se muera el enano pelirrojo#so for non-spaniards here's a crash course on the situation (i could do a post about media groups in spain cause it's a lot)#there's this one late night show that's been on air for about 15 years called el hormiguero#it started fine (i used to watch it with my family when it started)#but soon there were some issues that people were seeing#especially concerning the presenter (who's also the head ofthe show) pablo motos#and his attitude with female guests he'd interview#basically being very weird and gross around them#apart from that in the last year he started to get very political in the show#he invited right and far right leaders while refusing to do so with the left wing#started making monologues at the beginning of each show critizising stuff the left had done or said#and finally included a debate segment in the show in which he invited liked-minded people to discuss politics#this has directly affected his audience. my dad is a fan of el hormoguero and i've seen him turn more right wing every year#so. last summer RTVE (national broadcast company) announced they were gonna do a late night show presented by david broncano#it's hard to describe everything here but basically broncano already had a late show called la resistencia in a streaming platform#it has always been very popular with young people and it is quite left wing#the new program made by RTVE was called la revuelta. it is exactly the same as la resistencia#before it started airing people were sceptic that broncano would be able to defeat motos' hegemony#BUT. ever since it started aiting in september it has consistently been getting more audience than el hormiguero#who would've known people were tired of the redhead bastard#anyways. apart from this. different celebrities on ppdcasts have been saying that in order to promote their product they are forced to go#to el hormiguero even of they didn't want to#there's also rumours of pablo motos blackmailing people (mostly comedians) who make fun of him#and now to what happened last night. i don't watch tv so i just saw it on twitter#broncano opened the show saying that they were sorty but they had no guest tonight#they had this one person but 30 minutes before shooting the people from el hormiguero had called him#he was originally going to go both to la revuelta and el hormiguero#but the guys from el hormiguero called him to tell him that if he went to la revuelta he couldn't go to el hormiguero#el hormiguero is bigger than la revuelta so. he had to cancel#broncano went on to say this had happened before and that's why he was talking about it

#backstory: our house doesnt have security and last night i went downstairs at like 3am and i was like. hm. havent checked the back door lock#in a while. lemme double check. and it was OPEN#so i was like 🤨 and locked it#and then tonight my mom and i are watching madagascar and im standing sort of positioned behind the door and i noticed it opening#and it was opening in a way that looked like someone pushing it open and i couldnt see outside cause the light was on inside#so i threw my whole fucking body into it ready to wrestle the dude from hush#anyways it was the wind but i have no idea how the lock opened#id think we have a squatter but weve been home all day and theres really no place in our house to hide so the lock is probably just fucked#my dads only contribution to this activity was coming halfway down the stairs and going 'its the last day of mercury retrograde'

Do you ever remember something so weird and kind of fucked up from your childhood that you have no choice but to project it onto a fictional character?
Okay imagine Ed as a tiny little elementary schooler, and every single day he gets to school super early. Maybe his Mama drives him and she only has a little bit of time to do it before she has to go to work. Maybe he walks and just wants to be out of the house as quick as possible before his dad wakes up. Either way, he's consistently at the school like an hour before class actually starts.
And he's not allowed in the building.
It's not that the school is closed when he gets there- kids who ride busses are allowed in. But anyone who doesn't ride a bus is expected to either get there at the exact right time or wait in the car with their parents. So while everyone else is either in the cafeteria eating and chatting, or waiting patiently in a car in the parking lot, Ed is stuck out there, all alone, even in the blistering heat or freezing cold or pouring rain, counting down the minutes until the hall monitor finally allows him to come inside inside.

queenmaker should be coming in the next few days, depending on whether i have bad hayfever or a cold today - this is supposed to be my holiday week, so i would expect that i am actually sick, but then also i've passed out for every hour i haven't been at work today so i'm both caught up and screwed up on sleep ready for my half days 😭😂
#i may also have just pushed it too far yesterday#but like idk i was just vibing and then the hayfever gutpunched me at midnight#i think i let my guard down about having a holiday and my body was like 'don't need to stop cold germs coming in!' happens every gd time#it's a reminder not to let it happen at christmas#anyway to those still reading today has been really weird#i'm totally fine at work the hayfever even went away#but at home? literally can't keep my eyes open#i wanted to play a game tonight and between 5 and 9 i've watched two hours of tiktoks and lain facedown on the couch like a coma patient#and eaten tin spaghetti and toast that i slightly burnt for dinner#because i left my pasta out last night and i thought i had food poisoning this morning so i convinced myself the pasta is evil#which doesn't logically make sense but that's anxiety for you lol#anyway i actually have woken back up again a bit while i'm sitting here so maybe there's something left in me

so how's everyone else's saturday night going
#the first time was in college#my poor choice of living in the 'party' apartment complex#that dude was like. practically non-verbally drunk. had to call an ambulance for him.#he eventually did wander his ass back to the correct apartment#which meant the cops broke up their party#rip#tonight i was just getting ready for bed#and i heard something thumping around#and thought it might be the neighborhood cats having an altercation#or maybe the neighborhood fox#which you would think would prevent people from letting their neighborhood cats run loose at night but no#sadly it was none of those things#it was a drunk guy#who was convinced that my house was actually his house#and was trying to let himself in#fortunately a neighbor had seen him wandering around in the street#and called the cops already#anyway i got myself one of those things that you jam under your doorknob#to brace your door so people can't get it open#10/10 best $40 i've spent#because my dumb ass forgot to lock the front door#but i did remember to put my brace up#and the dude did not get in#i should get a second one for my bedroom now that i'm paranoid#i should write the company a review

every time it's the end of the year i feel like i'm going insane like the entire year just culminates into me just mcfreaking losing it on new years eve
#first of all i am so tired. my cat is on this horrible schedule where she wakes up at like 11pm and so i end up staying up to play with#her until like 2am bc im like she slept all day she needs to play which is fine but i get up at 7 every morning and so ive been doing this#for like 2 weeks straight and im so tired. so last night at like 1am i was just playing with her just sobbing bc im so tired#but i feel so guilty just going to sleep when she wants to play so im like im not just going to not play so im sitting my bed#throwing her stupid little yarn for her just crying and she's like :) watching me throw it back and forth im like ok.#but that's whatever bc idc i'll do anything for her#then since saturday there has been this Smell in my hallway and i have looked everywhere for it and i dont even know what it is#but it's like a sour kind of just really irritating smell and it's not strong but it just lingers#and ive searched EVERYWHERE. and nothing is wrong so now i'm thinking maybe#something died on the roof in my bathroom vent fan thing bc i leave my bathroom window open all the time but#last night it was almost completely closed bc it was cold last night and i was like ok yeah it's stronger in here now#so i just taped a trash bag over it to see if it goes away and if that's it then i have to deal with that#also im getting my period so i know that's why im upset at all#then i have a lost package that ive been waiting for since a week before christmas and i was like hey can you guys like help me find my#package like it's not the company's fault but i wanted to know if they could like idk contact the shipper or something#and theyre like oh it's just tracking error :) it's on it's way#like ok. it's in a city an hour away from me and it's been in limbo between ups and usps since the 19th so no it's actually not coming at#all i think but they keep blowing me off#then i have to go to the store right now and i know it's going to be so crowded and anyway ok im done dumping and complaining#i just feel like im drowning rn but im going drink so much champagne tonight and forget it all
