"I like the jobs that go wrong," Kerros admits to Neve, between bites of fried fish.

"Why?" Neve asks, a sideways glance carrying the rest of the question - what do you get out of it?

Shrugging lightly, he leans a hip on a mooring post -- too elegant to be functional as anything other than decoration - and smacks his lips together, the taste of sea salt and brine easily caught.

"There's always the thrill in being caught, I guess, ruffling a few haughty feathers along the way is fun," he muses out loud, recalling the last job that went wrong. "But when it's all done and you're the one left standing... it makes me feel good. More capable."

There's a sharp puff of air next to him as Neve snorts, incredulous. "I know I'm married to my work, Rook, but that feels particularly self-sabotaging."

Wiggling a now-empty skewer at Neve, Kerros grins. "You'd know all about that, huh?"

He receives only a sly, knowing smile in reply. She sees right through his humour, and it's only mildly irritating. Kerros tears his eyes away from giving up the game any further, gaze landing on the inoffensive grey tide lapping at the docks instead.

"Or maybe that's just the cover story. You read between the lines better than anyone I know, Neve."

She holds her silence for a little while longer as they both watch the waters gnawing at the warped wood of the jetty beneath their feet. Rotting in the water below, if Kerros had to guess. It is a slow, insidious thing. Always something you discover too late.

"Not everybody wants their secrets spilled in print. In Dock Town, sometimes it's best I pretend I didn't see," Neve breaks the silence along with the sound of another gentle wave sinking beneath. A courteous cover. Relief starts to weed its way through the silt that has settled in his lungs, choking his breaths into unnecessary tension.

Besides him, closer now, Neve continues. "But whoever it is you're trying to impress? They'd better be worth the gods to you."

okay is she being actually immature or is it just a woman over 30 expressing a human experience you find to be immature.

like yeah. at certain ages... let shit go. im not defending the real immature shit. im not defending the karen you're picturing. i worked in retail i hate those people too. (once somebody got mad at me because she didn't like how our winter window decor was a snowman smoking a pipe. i wish i was joking).

but men at 57 will write books about how 17 year old girls are soooo sexy. they will invent worlds where women have to be naked for "armor reasons." they will write songs that treat women as objects. people rush to defend them. meanwhile a woman at 35 will be like "heartbreak is hard, actually" or "i feel betrayed by a friend" or "i am struggling with something emotionally." immediately people will say stuff like this woman is 35 by the way. by the way this woman is SO OLD to be experiencing this. BY THE WAY.

im 31, almost 32. the other day a poet was blasted online because at her "big age", she had written a poem about feeling unloved. top comment was "this woman is 29 by the way." this woman is too old to still be useful, by the way. she has to behave better . maybe if she was a good wife and mother she could stop existing loudly, and the story could continue on without her. this woman has served her purpose, by the way. she's so cringe, by the way. at 29 - so old! - she still hasn't figured out that her existence should be one of shame.

i really don’t think it’s “typical dragon age fandom nonsense” for people to be genuinely upset about the world state choices. combat, level design, art direction, gameplay gimmicks, those have all varied across each dragon age game. the one thing that’s remained constant are nods to our previous choices.

i wasn’t expecting my HoF to come riding in on a griffon, but i can’t find a monument dedicated to warden tabris somewhere around the anderfels? lucanis couldn’t have some lines about the time that one arainai boy was stirring up trouble in antiva city? you’re gonna tell me that making a mage the new divine wouldn’t have some impact on nevarra and antiva? on the anderfels, the supposed most devout militant andrastian nation in thedas? you’re saying nobody in the north is paying attention to who rules orlais or ferelden? come on.
