(his mother; taking place of cadence) Flash: Flash (taking pace of Pinkie pie) is a very energetic Pegasus. he loves zooming around, and being fast, though he loves sugar, he cant have any. he does love his friends, he wants them to be happy. Radar: radar (taking place of rainbow dash) is very determined, hes very loyal, though very competitive, though not as fast, he loves racing against flash. hes very cocky and can be a bit mean at times, he just pulls it off as "joking around" and has a hard time expressing positive emotions, though he tries hard. Kitten Lust:

Kitten Lust (taking place of rarity) loves designing, she loves expressing herself through different assests of her life, expressing herself through her mane, shes very expressive though has a rather tough time when theres a right time, and a wrong time. she loves helping everyone with their self expression. though can be a bit sassy raven:

Raven (taking place of applejack) is a rather strong, rather quiet earth pony, being raised in a colony of cannibals, he tries so hard to hide that asset of his life, hes very sensitive to light and sound, he'd rather stay mute. he wears his hate to cover the rot of his coat and mane.

Revine (taking place of fluttershy) is naturally energetic, her mother (being a changling) (and her father, taking place of discord) she loves spending her time in dark places, she loves spending time in the everfree forest. shes not really used to other ponies, often being to scared to interact, and her shapeshifting being limited, she changes to often she gets stuck for (2) hours. she often requires the help of her friends to calm her down.

the marbles buildings are similar to ancient greek architecture from this world! heaven's usually with smoother textures, and were very tall.

heaven beings usually had feathery wings, but they could come in any color, and were more like bird wings than angel wings. hell beings had more bat-like or dragon-like wings, scales or leathery. and yeah hell is mountainous and forest while heaven is a big city :]

- You ended up popping out of a similar well in monstropolis, confused and ugh... A little slimy

- the police caught you "skipping school", let you off with a warning and dropped you off at spooky high

-Well shit

- there are monsters... Everywhere, your curious mind is starstruck! So many legs so many colors this is so cool!!

- you grit your teeth and pick a random class to attend

- you pick theatre, taking a costume from the back to fit in- some armor with LEDS.. You look like spooky armor so cool!!

- since you're already armored you'll be the stand in knight for this rehearsal... A fish girl is the princess and she is so, so pretty!

- shes good at her role and you sit with her after the show, she keeps saying her name and the Vanderbilts... Like you should know who that is

- Since Miranda is the only person you know, you keep the fake glowing armor on and join her for lunch

- She makes sense now, you asked one of her serfs who she was and they made a big deal of you not knowing she was a princess "wait you're a real princess, not just in the play??"

- lunch passes as she explains the details of her heritage, your eyes starry as you listen intently

- Although the next class was the worst, GYM, all the physical activity was hell under the armor and the gym clothes they provided over that

- You got decked in the face by a dodge ball, why does it hurt so bad??? Also a human in spooky high??? What a twist!

- then Mirandas guards kidnap you 👀 She wants that armor off and she wants to know absolutely everything about how someone as rare as a human got to monstropolis! Shes just as excited as you are!

- Since then you were enrolled in a controversial "culture exchange program" as the only nonmagical and full blood human in spooky high

- Miranda stayed as your friend, you both sharing info about each of your worlds until you eventually started dating

-Now shes got to find a way to get you to visit the merkingdom without dying so you can see all the things shes told you about

Poly Coven:

- You got kidnapped in your sleep by a pair of imps, flown through the sky suspended by chains attached to your legs, of course you're screaming

- Their surprise is easy to see when the big bad of the seasons plan is revealed... By the imps dragging you in by your ankles, the plan was to sacrifice a magically untouched female human to complete a ritual

- of course you've never preformed magic nor seen a monster, you're just a fantasy fan!! You're upside down and terrified

- The coven saves the day by defeating the demon Lord of the 3rd circle, his servants who tried to fly away with you and freeing you from your shackles

- You're shaking, from the wild ride and embraced by Joy "You're going to be okay, we won't let them hurt you again"

- At first when they take you back to the coven house you're interested in the magic but afraid of monsters which is unfortunate given not all of them are bad

- Faith treats the cuts on your ankles with an herbal remedy and bandages while hope sees if any of their spare clothes could replace your dirt coated and torn Pajamas

- you get into deep conversation with Faith about witches, the balance of 3 and the world of monsters

- "Just like your world, there are good and bad people, That demon was very evil but uhh, theres this werewolf who wouldn't hurt a fly at our school"

- They keep you in coven house for a while to teach you a few things and show you that monsters aren't all bad, this lets your wounds heal and keeps you from telling humans that monsters are evil beasts

- months pass and not only are you lovingly nose deep in history books of monster kind but you've got legitimately the gayest crush on those witches

- Tutoring you, being your friends its overwhelming how nice they are, hope even taught you some defensive magic! (She wasn't supposed to though)

- You're captivated by them and their lessons- You're also childish "Oh what is that? What's that?" Its like You can't learn enough ever

-Soon you also learn norms from your world don't apply in the monster world... You wanna be gay? Go ahead, you wanna have 3 girlfriends?! DONE

- Its less controversial when you get added to the school, your soul is tainted by magic and the coven is backing you closely

- Sometimes you're still scared of larger monsters or ones that are too in your face but you can just hide behind your girlfriends

they camp out and they’re just bantering and its cute and fun for 2 hours then

matsun hears growling and snapping noises and he’s like hanamaki stay in the fuckin tent

 and matsukawa steps outside and he holds a hand back to stop makki and he steps out and looks around, eyes narrows

growing up in this place was a nightmare, Leira was created by melora the goddess of nature so as you can imagine the culture of leira was pretty heavily dedicated to sucking her metaphysical dick, everyone’s a vegetarian and natures roams free throughout the city which is nice and all but when your late for school and you get stuck behind a 20 ton bear it easy to loose your fucking patience and it not like you want to kill an animal or anything but your desperately curious to know what meat tastes like. one night there was a big wild fire and a bunch of birds got roasted in the flames and yeah it was sad and all that but my god the SMELL! it was amazing and theres no way you can ever get any kind of meat since theres no privacy anywhere in the god damn city, you live with your family and streets are ALWAYS busy with people and even in the rare moment when theres no other elves around theres always some kind of nature around and since most of the elves if the city can speak to animals your pretty sure if you did anything too sacrilegious it would be reported before you could say “barbecue”. and the people ugh the FUCKING PEOPLE you mother keeps nagging you and telling you off for regecting all your sutiors but in fairness your not really regecting 8 or 9 suitors your regecting one because EVERYONE HERE IS THE FUCKING SAME THEYVE GOT LONG FLOWING HAIR THEYRE SLIM AND DELICATE LOOKING THEY WRITE POTRY ABOUT NATURE AND THEY PROBABLY PLAY THE FUCKING PAN FLUTE.

and the worst thing about it is that everyone you have ever met god damn loves it here if you go to a town elder to ask about if people can get through the forest he just pats you on the head and says some shit like “dont worry little one no outsiders will ever get in” and you have to fight back the urge to scream beacause NO LORENCE YOU DONT GET IT but you just nod and smile because if you say anything than you get branded as even more of a fucking outsider than when you decided to tie up your hair for the first time.I mean by the GODS what is wrong with tying up your hair? ugh you know whats wrong with it in Leria elves belive that hair should flow out beautifuly and naturally its common for full adults to have hair that reaches the floor and some elders employ neighbourhood kids to pick up their hair after them when they walk so it doesn't trail behind them on the ground but whoever decided that elvish hair was contantly elegant never seemed to be able to get your hair to obey. your hair constantly got caught on buttons and jackets and even door handles! your hair is only down to your waist and its already the biggest nuisance in your life you cant imagine it reaching the floor and always getting stepped on so one day you had had enough, you got some twine and tied up your hair you thought it looked pretty good but when your mother saw it for the first time my god it was like you were dying she asked what was wrong if you needed some kind of help and after she hear that your hair was getting in the way she decided to spend three hour THREE FUCKING HOURS brushing it which is not only fucking painfull but its the kind of stupid bullshit you were trying to avoid when you tied it up in the fucking first place. eventually people got a little more used to you tying up your hair there was always a limit there was always a “oh honey grannies coming round for dinner so dont you think you should take down your hair?” and its like ..... why? but becuase theyre your family you dont question it and let your hair down but secretly you think that maybe granny wouldnt mind it if you could eat without accidentally getting stray hairs in your mouth every....single...time you took a bite to eat.

buuuuuut theres some hope theres a legend of a warrior with a great connection to nature who must leave the safty of the city and defeat a great evil in the outside world and your determined that that person will be you you got to the libary at noght and read books on the outside world and FUCK it sounds so fucking interesting so different  so god damn DIFFERENT you read about beings who live between dimensions and every single member of there race is completly different to each other every single one is entirly unique some are good some are evil some have physical forms some are made of gas and some of them are just a mad pile of limbs I mean can you imagine? the very idea of beings like that sets you mind ablaze and your determined to meet one but the fucking problem with that is the the legendary hero is suppose to be able to connect with nature and you... struggle with that. you call out to the trees to obey your commands you try to connect with the animals and you appeal to the elements but nothing ever works its so fucking frustrating this is your only chance of leaving the city and you can even begin to make progress everyone in the city at least has SOME connection to nature there are toddlers that can make flowers bloom and you cant even bend a branch. everyone teacher youve ever had tells you not to give up and to keep trying and that you just need to look deep down withing yourslef and find the connection you dont know is there but that just bullshit the reason you can connect with the trees is because deep down you dont WANT to connect with the trees you know it and the trees know it why cant anyone see?everyone in the world from your teacher to your parents tyo the town elders to the fucking animals seemed to think that your just one attitude adjustment away from being a perfect happy elf “keep trying” they say “you’ll get it eventually” all your fucking life youve been hearing that but you know what? you dont want to be a perfect elf with long hair and a dozy smile you dont want to be the hero who connects with nature and is celebrated as the perfect figure you dont want to be here anymore! you want to eat meat and wear clothes that dont make me look like a plant obsessed ballet dancer and fight people with your bare hands and play the drums and do whatever you want with my hair and be FUCKING FREE

you sneak into the library the books your looking for is old and worn but within it is the ritual that you need. Pumpkin- favorite fruit/vegetable- DRAGON FRUITTTTTT ITS SO SWEET AND TASTES AMAZING BY ITSELF AND IN DRINKS AND ITS JUST YES as for vegetables its between spinach, brussel sprouts, squash/pumpkin, green beans, or sugar snap peas (all of which must be raw besides squash/pumpkin and brussel sprouts)

Sugary- what traits do you value most in friends- honestly just as long as we vibe, youre not racist, sexist, homophobic or extremely rude to ppl thats about all that matters (preferable if we have a couple things in common but yeah just dont be a prick and we're good 😂)

voldy-non you have the best and most wonderful questions and thoughts and I’m so sorry I’ve been out here straight up ignoring them!! I’ve been so busy and overcoming jetlag so I wanted to wait until I could give this the thought it deserves bc What A Concept

Yeah so Polly might as well be pureblood for the way that her family carries on (they’re forever bitter that they didn’t make the Sacred 28 bc of some ‘unfortunate relatives and their choices’ ugh) and so ikea is like the coolest thing ever. So like, it’s basically nothing compared to some wizarding furniture stores, but the fact that this is a muggle thing?? And her and Yann have come to choose furniture and decor for their own house?? immediately its a hundred times better (also there’s no magic needed to put the stuff together which instantly takes any lingering pressure off her…so obviously she loves it) (also also!!! theres a little restaurant in there?!? what the hell??)

Yann has a little more experience with the muggle world bc his mums always thought it was important to experience different cultures in order to have a better perspective and sensitivity about the world, so he’s no stranger to ikea, but seeing it through Polly’s eyes does give it a new sort of glow ;’) she’s good at remaining quite nonchalant about things like this but there’s no denying the excitement in her eyes bless her heart. Also I’ve never been able to solidly pick a career for her, I know she works a bit in the ministry with children, like the foster care system etc, but I think she has quite a thing for creativity too even if she never explores it professionally, so all the interior design potential here has her vibrating out of her skin. Of course, her face is quite neutral, scrutinising even, but Yann can see the way her eyes dart around, like she’s trying to take in everything at once, and the way her hands reach out, too eager to be casual, to touch the different pillows and rugs and candles and fake plants etc etc.

SO uh they could spend like,,,a whole day in ikea, and not just bc Yann is hoping that he’ll be able to convince her to play hide and seek with him there, but bc they love that they’re building a future together and here they are choosing stuff for their own home!!! also you know Yann will pick up the ugliest stuff he can find and go “for you ;D” and Polly rolls her eyes but doesnt hide the fact that shes smiling (he also picks up beautiful things that he knows are Polly’s style, and she’ll catch him across the room holding a maroon throw rug or looking at a wall piece with a forest scene and a bear on it and he’ll have this really intent look on his face, the look he gets when he doesn’t think anyone is watching, and she can tell he’s chewing the inside of his cheeks again bc this is really important to him and she just melts, bc she’s holding the same blanket on the other side of the room where it’s displayed on a bed and she just thinks yeah, this is the one :’) (yann or the blanket? it doesnt matter)

I really hate fantasy settings where magic is limited by biological sex. Because usually its used to enforce some sort of stupid gender stereotype that the writer believes is "biologically innate" rather than predjudice, by making up a world where it actually is biologically innate. Or its like "oh but women cant do those jobs" but again, a made up excuse for it to be LITERALLY TRUE. And usually they either dont even touch on the subject of trans and gay people (since it often conflates heterosexuality with gender...) or else it actually does bring it up and just creates a cavalcade of even more everything-ism...

Like i mean i love the game Jade Coccoon and considering it came out in the early 2000s i can understand it being more sexist, and its supossed to be a dark game anyway and a lot of the societal structures in Syrus Village are meant to be wrong and evil even if the characters act like its the way the world should be. The villain of the game is basically the toxic atmosphere of your shitty town and their paranoia of things they don't understand. Tho that means the player kinda has no motivation to finish it cos the main conflict is also saving those same villagers from dying and theyre all fucks. Anyway i'm going offtopic! What i mena is that i dont think it was a particularly sexist example of the inexplicable gender segregated magic trope. But just cos its a fave game of mine im gonna pick it to talk about anyway. Hope i dont sound too negative on it, cos seriously i love it loads!

Ok so to use Jade Cocoon as an example, here its a thing that only men can be cocoon masters and only women can be nagi. Tho it also gets a bit complicated because nagi is also an ethnicity as well? Its kinda like being romani, they're a race of displaced people who travel the world giving their magical services to other countries while searching for their lost homeland, which you end up finding at the end of the game. So yeah its extra weird cos male children of the nagi race are born with no powers whatsoever and cant even become cocoon masters, yet they get the ruling position in this homeland place? Like thats a better metaphor for how christian societies work, honestly!

Anyway im going offtopic again!

Basically, cocoon master = adventurer dude who catches monsters, nagi = magician who purifies those monsters so you can use them in battle. So when you catch stuff it becomes an inventory item rather than being able to use it on your team right away. And also nagi women can fuse monsters together to make super badass new ones and basically the gameplay system works really well to make you believe your wife is absolutely necessary to your quest and you would die without her, even if she cant fight. And honestly its actually kinda romantic! I just wish it wasnt presented as this weird sacred heterosexuality arranged marriage nonsense where all women are physically unable to go to a dungeon and all men are physically unable to not fight every day. Or at least thats how the powers work and if you try and step out of that role you fuckin die. Like it would be romantic to have a couple of a battle partner and a supporter magician if they actually chose it, yknow?

And whats annoying is that they actually do bring up the subject of people defying gender roles and canonically state that you not omly die but bring a curse upon everyone and are hated forever. They dont mention trans or gay people, instead the excuse is that a man loved his wife so much that he tried to learn nagi magic to lift the burden from her. Cos oh yeaj women get 'punished' by god for doing this magic?? Cursed tattoos all over their body the more they use it, and everyone hates them and eventually they turn into a fairy and forget they were ever human. And in the japanese version you can actually fight other nagi women who met this fate, theyre just another monster that you can fight and capture. They were censored in english cos they looked like really racist stereotypes of black women! Ugh! So yeah anyway nice straight husband is punished by the magic straightness enforcing rules of the universe for loving his straight wife too much. So what is the even point? If a man tries to use nagi magic it creates the "black cocoon" of cursed doomness and blah. Literal punishment for not conforming to gender. Damned if you do, damned if you don't!

Anyway this setting always made me wonder about all the stuff it just glosses over with this implication that every one of these relationships worked out fine. Like even before we rub lgbtq topics all over a retro videogame, there's a lot of logical holes! Like seriously how many of these arranged marriages ended up loveless or abusive? How many women just didnt want to stay confined to one room forever and not even have anyone look at them because their magic markings are shameful yet its also shameful not to want to do it?? How many men were terrified of going out on this advebture fighting literal demigods sent by heaven to punish humans? How many of them just had no ability to fight and died immediately because of shitty traditions, while perfectly qualified women had to sit there and watch it happen? What if there werent enough straight men and women of the same age and people were forced into gross pedophilic shit or other horror scenarios just cos there has to be this one magical straight couple or the village dies? Whenever theres this stupid gender magic its ALWAYS portrayed as idyllic and never failing ever, unless *gasp* people dont follow the gendrules...

And then SERIOUSLY do no queer people exist in this universe?? Man i'd be so interested in their stories! I actually had an oc idea of a self insert version of me as a travelling merchant. Because maybe what if nonbinary people could do both sides of the magic at once and thus adventure alone without being tied to a village's straight marriage system? So i'd just go around purifying monsters and then be a place you could buy new and rare mons from other villages without having to catch them. Maybe an easier way to get the super rare drop fusion materials for tiger pattern and stuff? And like seriously itd be good to have a character to talk to who agrees that your village is made of assholes. I cant say its bad writing cos it was clearly intentional, but they shoulda at least put a bit more incentive to keep playing even if you didnt care about these people. Also it would help plug the plothole of how a village even survives if it doesnt have the required people to form this magical straight marriage. Have some mysterious enby avengers who travel all across the world and save everyone regardless of country! All we ask is you buy some of our lovely souveniers! Maybe a pet patalchu for your family? Seripusly why dont they ever show anyone using the purified monsters for anything other than fighting the unpurified ones? You'd think they'd be really useful in repairing the village and guarding the walls and like..regular industrial jobs. Help the place actually advance and not have to live day to day on scraps,bickering amoungst themselves as the monsters grow ever closer to breaking through. Hell, you could even have them help spin the cocoons for other monsters! If this magic only depends on having a dick or not, then cant we just dress up some animals in the magic straight marriage outfits? XD

And like aaaa man im getting so emotional just imagining a trans woman who's constabtly told she will literally bring about the apocolypse if she tries to fill the female role in this ritual. And then one day she tries to spin the magic silk and she thinks she's committing the ultimate sin and they were all right. But the magic responds to her touch, and she makes a spell more beautiful than any other woman in the village! It would probably be harder for a trans man cos the magic doesnt have so much of an immediate proof like that. Just going out and winning a fight with a monster can be called "dumb luck", and knowing these assholes they'd probably keep calling it dumb luck even after the thousandth time you save their life!

And man, i wonder how gay relationships would work in such an annoyingly strict system of enforced heterosexuality? Would it be like the magic isnt REALLY gender locked at all, and it can just be any couple with either partner taking either role? Or would it be that it is one magic per gender but the bigoted villagers were wrong about it being impossible to do things without both? Like maybe when you're going into battle alone as a single cocoon master you cant fight without catching other monsters. But when two cocoon masters love each other their magic is amplified and they become able to like.. I dunno.. Imbue each other with elemental strength so they can fight the monsters hand to hand? Cos really the elemental system is the only reason you cant do a no monsters run of the game as it is. Maybe since they cant purify monsters but they can still catch them, they equip the monsters as sort of a power rangers transformation? Or socket them like materia on their weapons? Or just if the world was less segregated into tiny sexist racist villages they could simply buy the purification coccoons from another local nagi, and villages without a coccoon master could buy the services of travelling ones. Oh, and maybe two nagi lesbians could be even more badass! Cos if they can only purify and not fight, maybe their double purification is so strong that they can just straight up walk into the forest and monsters don't attack them. They dont even need to do the full spell, they can calm a beastie's rage just by holding out their hand and patting it on the head. So they coukd be infinately more effective and not have to just tenporarily clear single travelling routes of a few monsters, but actually work towards slowly purifying the entire forest and creating a peaceful land again. Tho i mean the game did have a unique atmosphere with the whole 'no hope of ever beating them' aspect. It was unique to see a society formed around the idea of never going into forests or you Die. But magical lesbians and their family of a million pet dragons is honestly better!
