I think it’s funnier that he’s literally the manifestation of everything my brother hates. The step-bro of that lady he despises AND a kissup to that evil queen

At its core the most important relationship arc in Avatar the last air bender is the one between Zuko and Aang honestly if you can’t see that then I don’t think we watched the same show.
Aang and Zuko are the true Yin and Yang in the show the push and pull. Fire and Air right down to their personalities.
It is both of them that have to go on the journey of learning that fire is more than just destruction can be used for more than just to hurt.
And that right there is the point it doesn’t matter if Aang defeats Ozai and they bring the fire nation to heel. Without a character like Zuko the fire nation would be lost forever to distrust and unrest, balance would never be reached. Because despite everything they have done all the damage they have wreaked the world still needs the fire nation and to work with the fire nation they need to know that fire can do more than hurt. And who best to show them than a prince who’s been burned himself?
The war started with the fire nation attacking the air nomads in a bid for control and it will end with the fire lord embracing an air nomad and taking ownership of his nations actions. You must first close a book before you can start a new one.
Aang needed Zuko just as Zuko needed him because to get peace a true lasting peace you can’t just cut off the head of a snake you have to change its mind. The world already lost the air nomads the balance is already precarious, it cannot afford to lose the fire nation too.
Afterall Air can snuff out a flame and it can also fan them. But when the two elements are balanced one existing in peace with the other it can also make a warm hearth for the home.

with that new revelation in ii2 e16, i feel like there's... a lot less to know about the world of ii. at least, not to know for sure.
because, before then, you could extract some information from passing comments. remember the french or whatever pizza delivery guy who tried to pass as italian, but spoke spanish instead? from that, you could determine that 1. france, spain, and italy are places that exist and 2. if those countries exist, why not all the countries in the world?
but. but, according to what cobs said at least, mephone4 seems to have made everything. he made the weird looking grass. if he made that, then why not anything else? did that guy exist before he came onto the show? probably not! and if he was made that day, was the concept of "france," "spain," and "italy" made that day too?
there's no way for us to know what the normal world of ii looks like. do they have parallel countries to us? well, we know their continents aren't parallel. it follows that their countries wouldn't be, either. who knows what their history is like? how the normal objects are like? will we know?
#wheucto#wheucto speaks#do i maintag this#i'll go with no for now#ii spoilers#ii 16 spoilers#for what it's worth_ the parallel countries thing is probably still accurate_ at least in my opinion#it was the only thing i remembered that i extracted from the world of ii that fit with this idea#i haven't rewatched much of ii so i don't have/don't know anything else that could be extracted from ii#but anyways_ parallel countries are probably real bc mephone has an audience_ right? i think. actually that's debatable BUT!#if mephone has a real life audience_ then it would make sense that the countries that the characters referenced would also exist in real -#- life_ bc if they referenced some made-up country_ then the audience would notice#also i now just wonder what the normal objects of this universe even are like.#what's their culture? how does being objects affect their society? what's possible for them? do they follow our normal reality rules?#are they even objects? they all could be humans except cobs specifically for all we know#that should be an au. in fact it was an au i've thought of before#well i think it was kind of different actually but it's pretty close.#ALSO at some point mephone's back cover - which as a part of mephone_ is unlikely to be created by him - has referenced NY before#specifically in ii13 i think. it says something about being manufactured in NY or NYC#so_ new york exists. which does imply america exists_ and therefore implies II has parallel countries#but that's not necessarily the case#i love extracting worldbuilding!!! mmm delicious

Okay I haven't yet read Püha ja õudne lõhn/Sacred and Terrible Air (I'm planning to! I promise!) so I want to ask: What lore does it give about Vaasa, the Suru and all that? I've like, looked at the first chapter so I know it takes place there/references it.
If I want to reference Vaasa and Suru in a fic I'm writing, should I first read that? Or is someone willing/able to give a summary of any additional lore about the area (like what even is the majority language if the suru are a minority??). I will say that I am Finnish so I don't necessarily need any cultural references explained, just any Elysium specific lore.

I have heard some people say that you had a harem ? Did you ?
Iroh being a lazy womanizer damaged the family's public image irremediably, I see. Some of us have honor. I was busy ruling a country and trying to expand our Empire to finally fulfill the dream of my ancestors. I definitely had no time to pursue women (like Iroh). I was also not only a proper Prince, but a married man too. You should be asking Ursa if she didn't have more playthings hidden somewhere apart from Ikea.

I have nothing but contempt for people who are in free countries yet support a dictatorship, support the war on a free country. I suppose russian propaganda has gotten to them here, but that's no excuse. They should know better. It's so obvious to anyone with half a brain who looks at the russian invasion that it's wrong and must be stopped. Russia is a huge country who attacked its smaller neighbor. No justification. Any "justification" is propaganda. It is merely a war of expansion.
Fighting against it is as morally right as fighting the nazis in world war II. Because russia is also doing nazi like things to pieple, not "just" bombing peaceful cities and killing civilians on purpose. It's committing grotesque war crimes. Just because Ukrainians dared to be free. Just because they dared to resist the russian machine that wanted to spread darkness and tyranny over Ukraine, not satisfied with keeping it in their own country.

Talking to [leftist/socialist/progressive/whatever] white people as a brown girl is always an experience
#🐈‍⬛⚜️#A couple weeks back I was stopped by these uni students who were promoting a convention and advocating for Palestine#I was really sad and tired then so I was like sure. let's chat#I signed a petition and began talking to these 2 girls#One was a white girl. the other wasn't. could not pinpoint her background though#Anyways. we talked about the state of the world and Palestine and how the US and by extension the Western World has failed them#(which is a topic of its own because the Western World did not 'fail Palestine' they literally wanted this annihilation to happen#and have been an active participant in it)#And I pointed how ultra rich Arab countries have completely turned a blind eye to it but poorer countries such as Yemen. Lebanon have#been doing so much. despite their own vulnerable position#And this girl said but they're still not doing enough. they could lend military help#I was just disappointed because it doesn't take more than 15 seconds to realise why a regional war is not the solution#By virtue of wanting justice. I would want the IOF to be blown up too but that's not the solution#simply because the casualties will be the civilians of all of these countries and we cannot put millions of people at risk#And she kept telling me about how they're a socialist group. and she was also kind of taken aback by how much thoughts I had about this?#They're having a convention on Socialism and co (social issues. Marxism and all that jazz) next month and that I should consider cominv#Then she hit me with 'The entry is only $90' and there's a student bundle where you can get a book and a tote bag#Honestly funny as shit#And she kept insisting I should buy the book. it was 'Introduction to Marxism' I believe#I did not know how to tell her that I did not want to read that. and even if I did I would just pirate the Communist Manifesto#Anyways. interesting experience and it did make me focus back on how different Brown Leftists and white leftists are#I like to give them grace because it's hard to know context and history and social rules about somewhere you haven't lived or grown up#But I do believe if you're advocating for another group of people. you need to learn and understand first and foremost#I actually don't know what to make of that whole interaction tbh

i'm actually a little annoyed at how in the first act everyone defaults to the main character being a crusader. in my own view, the mc is more like a very concerned citizen (or a foreigner in my case) who, along with all the other survivors, is trying to help rectify the situation in kenabres.
for instance, my character originally came to the worldwound as a scholar to conduct her own research for personal purposes, and it would be really funny if every time she was called a crusader, she could vehemently deny it, but, alas.
like, i'm overall a little bit upset that the choice of background has no effect on the gameplay, that there isn't a single line of dialogue regarding it… but i'm going off on a tangent.

(one of) my dream games is a super ultrarealistic city-building game and it's (ideally, though unrealistically) set in america or at least in major american cities.
and i mean extremely ultrarealistic. cities: skylines is like dumb as fuck arcade shit compared to what i want. it may as well be townscaper.
i want it to be detailed enough that it's used by actually irl city planners to simulate their building projects. i wanna be taking soil samples and hydrogeological surveys and flood risk assessments. and i want the regulations and zoning to be really complex and detailed.
and again, i want this to be set around real-life locations. there should be an option for "present day" mode where you start working with the city as it exists today or "historical" mode for some previous period in the city's history or "free play" more where it's just the blank slate terrain and no development.
and of course you gotta manage natural resources and tax revenue and population growth and population happiness and all that.
if you wanna make it ideal-ideal then there should also be a complex political/government angle too.
and ideal-ideal-ideal there should also be an army/military dimension as well. and actually you should be able to play as city, county, state, or federal governments. all simultaneously (although obviously these different governments should also be able to govern themselves automatically so you're not having to micromanage).
#basically some combination of simcity/cities: skylines and victoria and crusader kings and command: modern air/naval operations#and democracy and honestly you should even be able to open up a business or something or even be a part of a construction crew#so include all those business/management sim games too#and it should be all of those games in one simultaneously#sims too#you should be able to just play as an ordinary dude in a city you build#i want to build my irl city and play as me#and i should be able to do that and rise up the ranks until i'm president#and i should be able to nuke other countries or call in the national guard#and there should be like a civil war/natural disaster/zombie apocalypse scenario#so add in zombie games too#i should be able to build a city and then fight zombies in it like dayz#so i guess my ideal game is all games in one lmao#sorry this got way out of hand#i was originally just going to stick with the city-building stuff but more ideas kept coming to me as i wrote it out#but i will say realistically one game i've always wanted to see was some kind of crusader kings/rome:total war fusion#a game where you play as an individual king/politician and rule your city/kingdom (hyperrealistically)#and very grand strategy oriented#but also with the option to fight battles tactically on the ground like the total war series#or even as an individual soldier#there was this one game i played when i was younger that i was kinda like that and i always thought it was ahead of its time#you could fight these battles in a tactical mode or you could play as an individual hero fighting in the thick of things

send STRAINED for a scene from my muse's past in which they interact with someone they have a difficult relationship with
see into Fannar's history / accepting
There is yelling from somewhere behind him, and his breath comes out in short, jagged pants. In his arms, he clutches a loaf of bread he stole from an open window.
"Vagrant!" The man hollers, and Leifur can hear the door swing open after him. He tries his best to run that little bit faster. "Thief!! You little—"
He knows he is going to be in trouble, again. The goði has already made clear that thievery is not tolerated, although the vagrancy — that always seems to get a pass. That said, he's stolen from this man before and - aside from a stern telling off by the local chieftain - nothing had come of it. The man would have been given the authority to enact justice as he saw fit— the responsibility fell on his own shoulders, and yet he had not taken the boy as slave with a sickle to the throat as soon as he saw his sticky-fingered little self prowling around his cattle.
It's not like Leifur particularly realises, though. The talkings-to from the goðar, fearless enforcers of law and justice in their land, receive only blank stares. The instruction to stay away from this man's farm is never heeded, nor are the instructions not to steal. He would be enslaved as punishment, were he a human. He's been smacked upside the head a few times, but it appears not to phase him as he goes tottering off back into the countryside merely an hour later. He is a strange, strange little boy — everyone knows him for who, and what, he is. He is their land, a God, a strange little boy that nobody will strike too hard. How do you punish he who is God's given, after all? Nobody dares attempt.
Leifur skitters across a thin river on the outskirts of the man's property, and turns back when the man comes to a halt. He jabs a finger towards Leifur.
"You owe me work," The man demands. "Thieving little bastard. You've stolen from me twice now, I remember you. I could have you, all legal! Granted by the chieftains themselves. Be lucky I'm merciful, you hear me?"
Leifur just stares at him, the loaf held protectively to his chest. After a second, the farmer spits in his direction, and appears just short of stamping his foot like a petulant child.
"Dumb little fucker. You never say a fucking word, do you? Don't you come back around here, you hear me? I'll have you worked to the bone."
Leifur slowly takes a bite of the crust of the bread, all without breaking eye contact.
The farmer just sucks air through his teeth and turns back to his little stead, cursing loudly enough that his cattle start, and Leifur trots off. He will share this bread with his friends, tonight — although he always ends up eating most of it.
