#AND ALSO A GON OR KILLUA CAMEO

Hey there! I just found these preview pages from volume 38, though I'm not sure what they say and if they're legit. Wondering if you've seen them as well?
These first pages usually show the characters that are going to be in the volume. What stood out to me is that Gon is there as well! Now, from a quick translation from the internet, it basically says that he's unable to see aura and he's on a homecoming (?) trip. Then on the bottom there is a synopsis on what has happened so far in the manga. Does this mean we'll see Gon in the upcoming chapters? I'm trying to not get my hopes up but...
What do you think?
Hi!
So, you may already know this, but I want to make it clear first that Volume 38 will only contain chapters that have already been released (391-400)--so Gon definitely won't be appearing in the chapters collected in Volume 38. These are the chapters we got back in the end of 2022, before Togashi went on the hiatus that will be ending in October. Typically the previous 10 chapters are only collected into a volume and released around the same time more chapters are about to come out, so that's why this volume is only being released now.
Also, Gon has been listed in the character summary page throughout the Succession War arc as far as I recall, so, it's nice that he's still included but it unfortunately isn't a change from previous volumes, where he also never appeared.
While Gon being on the cover was a welcome surprise that I'm very happy about, I don't think either it or the character introduction page are strong signs of his impending return. However, Togashi clearly doesn't want us to forget about him, and is reminding us that he's still one of the main characters of the series, so I think it's a great sign for the series going back to him over the longer term!!
HxH is very unpredictable, so Gon could technically return at any time, whenever Togashi deems the story has come to that point. However, with how many characters and plot points are being juggled in Succession War, I personally am not anticipating his return particularly soon. We could get a cameo or small scene or something, but I don't think there's a lot of space to go back into his character arc quite yet. I think we may still need to wait a while before he's part of the story again, but I do think it's coming at some point--perhaps at the end of this arc, or when the story does a major shift.
Gon does have ties to the Dark Continent, with Ging and his presumed ancester Don Freecss being both being connected to it, and Killua does as well, via Nanika, so I think when the Dark Continent itself becomes more prominent in the series, it's possible we'll see them return to the story. But as usual, it's hard to predict what Togashi has up his sleeve. I am confident we'll see them again, though, and all the focus Togashi has put on especially Gon this year (with all his tweets of art of him, this cover, etc.), I'm sure Gon will be back when the time is right!
Thanks for asking!

Some furry Gon & Killua odds 'n' ends (cameo appearances by Kurapika and Leorio in the form of lollipops, haha).
Also, got sidetracked and came up with 18-25 yr old designs for fun.

As a hxh fan, what’s your thoughts on the movies?
I've seen 2, I haven't heard of more but maybe I've missed something. I don't consider them canon. But I'm not against them. They are both like fanfiction.
Last Mission is very meh.
it's the kind of canon divergence fanfic where the writer really didn't get the original. Like you watch it and you think: this misses the point so hard.
It's also an ensemble, it tries to squeeze in as many characters as possible, even if just for cameos... it feels like Marvel movie in that sense.
Phantom Rouge is fun.
It's like this good quality canon divergence fanfic. It reinforces what already is in canon, Gon and Killua's relationship is even more baby gay in it than in canon.
Omokage and Retz feel like characters Togashi could've come up with, their story doesn't feel completely out of place, like Last Mission's plot does.
There is a bit of the ensemble feeling, but it's not as forced as in Last Mission.
And I said I don't think they're canon... Retz is canon, you can pry her out of my cold dead hands.

yo guys so like, I slept really hard and envisioned a terrible thing. so for some reason I followed my parents into a movie about halfway through, and I looked at the screen and it was a detective conan movie with sonic and tails and the characters recognized them like a crossover with the sonic movies. I was like wtf? but I sat down anyway. it was a combination of 2D and 3D animation, an american production, and a sequel to a previous movie. i remembered the first movie being advertised and conan was voiced by conan obrien and there were posters of them together. in this one, the plot was about kogoro being audited and there were a bunch of action scenes. it was full of cheeky one-liners that made me angry and embarrassed. i saw ran and sonoko and the DB with agasa but no haibara. then the movie was over and there were some cutely animated credits with some injokes and then there were six conans singing in different animated styles. my parents said it was boring and I told them if you're going to go see a movie like this tell me beforehand because you won't enjoy it. then somehow I want to go see the movie a second time with my parents. i was the only one in the theater without headphones to hear the movie so i had to listen to it on my phone. this time I remembered more scenes. it was set in america like an ace attorney japanifornia which made me mad because I thought it was dumb, but there was a lot of action scenes and they went to a college in florida and universal studios. all of the action scenes blurred together in a labyrinth of rooms and passages in a fancy hotel/school building, but there was a room with some chickens that were left behind and I told some elementary school kids roaming the building (who were part of conans class but somehow made it to florida) to unlock the door and take care of the chickens. there was also a cameo of gon and killua from hxh sitting at a table while the action went on. conan was doing superhuman feats of speed and agility and nothing else cuz there was no villain?? idk. i posted on here or twitter about my reaction to the movie which i ended up seeing 3 times apparently. thanks for reading

I read HxH to find YYH characters ★
You all probably know about these YYH cameos in HxH manga (anime has others as well). But I just love them ❤
Starting from Milluki Zoldyck’s bedroom (volume 8). We all want a room like his, full of action figures! Not only Hiei, Kurama and Yusuke, but there’s also Goku, Sailor Moon, Kamen Rider and other famous characters. In the anime, Hiei’s figurine was replaced by Kuwabara’s. I’m not even sure if it’s Koenma in the upper shelf (judging by the hat).
Volume 8 (Yorknew City Arc) is full of cameos. The next one is Kurama and Hiei on the stairs, behind Gon and Killua. Apparently, they are hanging out together in Yorkshin ❤
Also from volume 8, Hiei watching Gon’s arm-wrestling is cute ❤ He is carrying his sword and everything. Will he challenge Gon? lol
Popular Hiei again!! This time in volume 10, being auctioned as a plushie in the silent auction bazaar. Togashi and Naoko-sensei can also be spotted below in their respective dog and bunny version.
Not exactly a YYH cameo, but at the end of Greed Island Arc (volume 18) you can try to find Togashi in his dog version in the crowd. There are also other JUMP characters like Fujiwara no Sai (Hikaru no Go). His eboshi hat stands out in the crowd. I always thought it was Kuwabara in the upper left corner of this image because of the haircut, but I don’t think it’s him.
Of course, in the anime, there’s also the famous Neon’s keychain with Puu and the eyebat from the Spirit Detective Saga's Maze Castle arc. Suzako can also be seen in Chrollo’s book and Hiei on a poster in the Greed Island OVA (1999 version).

Alright i finished Hunter X Hunter. The last arc was very good because it was short and more light hearted than the chimera ant shit.
i think i would rate the series a solid 7 out of 10. the more i think about this score the weirder it is for me to justify because even if i removed/significantly reduced the length of the chimera ant arc...i would still give the series a 7 (maybe a 7.5) out of 10. like...i think the chimera ant arc straight up sucked. there was some good in there and it introduced my favorite villain, but it was overly long, padded to hell and just a complete slog to get through. but even removing that arc out, i still dont know if i would personally rank it any higher than a 7.
the greed island arc and the final arc were by far my favorites and i would prolly rank those 8.5 and 9 respectively. the other arcs were mostly just decent. the hunter exam arc was kind of meh to me, the heavens arena and yorknew city had a lot of good in them, but also a lot of meh stuff in them too.
the chimera ant arc though...christ that was a trial.
in any case, i think the strength of certain characters just smoothed out all the stuff i didnt like, namely gon, killua and BISCUIT KRUEGER. whenever the show focused on gon and killua’s relationship, the show was VERY good. whenever it took focus away from them for other stuff, the show was kind of boring. there were definitely other good characters, but the show had a problem with introducing 20 billion characters at a time and then forgetting them.
kurapika, who i thought would be a main character, completely vanishes from the story after the phantom troupe arc. leorio is a similar situation, but he does reappear in the final arc and makes very good use of his time. biscuit comes back for a couple episodes during chimera ant arc but then kind of just...completely f**ks off for no reason. one of the main ants who is like...the first to turn “good” VANISHES during the same arc and makes like cameos later on which makes no sense. canary appears for 5 seconds, disappears, then reappears at the end for another 5 seconds where she does absolutely nothing. the series just introduces TOO many characters and doesnt know what to do with half of them.
i think another weakness of hxh are the villains. they suck. hisoka could prolly be an interesting character if he wasnt a pedophile. it annoys me that hes still alive. meruem was a dogshit villain. most of the chimera ants were awful except for neferpitou. the phantom troupe was pretty corny for the most part when they were the main antagonists. the main villain of the greed island arc was just random evil guy #15 and was just there specifically to get bodied by gon. i think in terms of antagonists, hxh is one of the weaker shonen although to be fair to it, the focus of the series is not really the antagonists relationship to the protagonist.
anyways, hunter x hunter is a weird, unbalanced show and despite the chimera ant arc sucking my soul out through my eyes, i enjoyed the show overall. the strength of gon and killua as characters and the depiction of their relationship cannot be overstated. its really good stuff.
the zoldyck family theme will forever be stuck in my head.

Hunter x Hunter for the Fandom questions! 💕😁
You have activated the trap card!!! 💓 As always, a warning for everyone because this is a very long post -
Top 5 favourite characters: Truthfully, my top five are Shoot, Knuckle, Hanzo, Kite, and Gon. The three uncles, the honorary father, and the son. ❤
Other characters you like: Too many!!! I do love Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio. Kastro I really liked from the Tournament Arc. Melody, definitely! She’s the best. And, of course, Morel. I adore Big Papa Smoke. Palm and Knov, as well. Along with Ikalgo and Meleoron. ❤ Too many good characters.
Least favourite characters: I’ll have to say Illumi and Hisoka. I like them to an extent.
Otps: I am a sucker for Nashuu. 💓 What can I say? I really like Kurapika with Leorio, too.
Notps: Don’t…ship the children with other people please.
Favourite friendships: Gon and Killua of course! They are such a good pair. Shoot and Knuckle are the bestest though. I love them too much. Honestly, I really love when Meleoron and Ikalgo get to be with Gon and the others, especially after the Chimera Ant Arc. It’s so sweet.
Favourite family: Oh, I love Gon and Aunt Mito. 💌
Favourite episodes: There are too many good ones, but you know I have to put 86. For reasons. ❤ The biggest ones for me…were 112 and…118 just becauae of how emotional they made me. Especially 112. That episode made me SOB. After I finished the episode, I had to step away from the computer to breathe, I was crying too much. Not necessarily in a bad way, but I did get really choked up.
Favourite season/book/movie: Favorite season is the Chimera Ant Arc, even though it’s also the absolute worst at the same time. Favorite book is…the very first one! I was about to say Vol 20 or Vol 25, but the very first one makes me so happy. It’s my favorite cover, too! 💚
Favorite movie I don’t have an answer for. The Last Mission was pretty good, and I know there are at least one or two more I believe? I’ve only seen one though.
Favourite quotes: I absolutely loved it when Knuckle said “Everyone has a heart. That’s what I want to believe.” And…Shoot’s whole inner monologue right before he fights. Even when Shoot explains to Killua how he doesn’t like to hurt people. I still can’t handle them, I get so emotional just thinking about them.
Best musical moment: Well…I know when Pouf plays his violin it is incredibly musical. That’s the only thing I can think of to say here! That scene is so out of place, but the music is lovely at least.
Moment that made you fangirl/boy the hardest: I actually remember when I first got into Hunter x Hunter, and I saw that Hanzo got four badges in the hunting exam, literally was just cheering him on like “Yay Hanzo!!! Good job!!!” 💞 I was so happy for him!! Oh…and when Knuckle was on screen, especially when he would throw off his jacket… 💘💘💘💘💘 Every. Single. Time. My poor, weak heart. At all that fanservice. And!!! When Shoot would fight!!! I would just be mush like! 💓 I just loved seeing Shoot any moment I got, and I still do.
When it really disappointed you: I’m not going to say it because I don’t want to spoil Meve by accident, but it is a huge disapointment for me that still leaves me upset.
Saddest moment: Well… 💔 I won’t say it.
Most well done character death: Uvagin, I guess? I mean, I don’t want to say that, but Kurapika at the time…oh it was rough. 💔 The scene was well done.
Favourite guest star: Hm. Guest stars? I would say Togashi, but I’m clearly thinking about how we’ll see ONE appear in One Punch Man every now and then. Not sure if Madhouse did the same with Togashi dog or anything. – Oh shoot read that question wrong as soon as I wrote all of this, LOL! Oh, now I know who to say!! Junichi Kanemaru! 💓💓💓 He only voiced Buharu during the first season, but ahhh I absolutely adore him! Just hearing his voice again brought back great childhood memories since I know he’s Sonic. 💓 Takaya Kuroda also! He was great as Razor, but you can never not hear him as Kiryu if you know the Yakuza/Ryu Ga Gotoku series. Listening to him as another character in a completely different thing was so funny. It was nice little cameo for my ears for both of them. ❤
Favourite cast member: Yuuji Ueda! 💓💓💓💓💓💓 Of COURSE. Favorite Japanese voice actor. (Can I just say how lovely Shoot’s voice is? It’s breathtaking. 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞) Along with Wataru Takagi, who is literally one of the best Japanese voice actors ever. He is an absolute gem. 💓 And I love Megumi Han. She was always so into her character and voicing Gon, she was just so passionate for the series. She’s the best.
Character you wish was still alive: Kite. 💔 And Kastro too, he seemed like a nice guy.
One thing you hope really happens: Please just let Gon and Killua rest. Give all the characters a rest. Where’s the filler episodes where they’re all getting together and having a good time and nothing can go wrong? Where’s my dream beach vacation episode?
Most shocking twist: Kite’s death… 💔💔💔 It really makes me upset please stop I want to forget
When did you start watching/reading?: I started watching the anime around March! I’m not sure when I bought the first volume of it though. Maybe in the same month? But yeah, March 3rd is the official date! (Which I was actually trying to figure out when I was deciding a date. I watched the first episode with my love maybe a month or so before I did on my own? But March 3rd was when I started watching it from the beginning. I thought about making it March 5th because…that’s when I first watched Shoot and Knuckle be introduced. You know.)
Best animal/creature: I’m biased to Knuckle’s puppy. 😌 For creature, I like Ikalgo and Meleoron a lot. It took me a bit to warm up to them, but they’re my favorite out of the Chimera Ants.
Favourite location: Whale Island! It is such a beautiful place! If it were real, I would definitely want to visit it.
Trope you wish they would stop using: Nothing that I can think of.
One thing this show/book/film does better than others: A big thing is that…it shows no matter what you go through, no matter what happens, you can definitely try again. And “you can smile again~” 🎵 All of these things slowly go more and more downhill when you follow along the adventure, but after the events of the scariest arc of the series, things do try to get better despite everything that happened during the darkest of times.
Funniest moments: I really can’t think of any super specific ones, but I know there were a lot of little moments Gon and Killua shared that cracked me up so much. Oh, when Gon hit Hanzo during their fight, and Leorio called him a liar for saying he let Gon hit him on purpose!! Ahhh the way Leorio’s voice actor did that line was PERFECT. “LIAR!!!!” I was dying! I also giggled bad at ones Shoot and Knuckle shared, ahh they’re so funny together.
Couple you would like to see: Shoot and I love the thought of Aunt Mito with Kite, for some reason? I think it’s because someone wrote a fic of them meeting, but…it’s a nice thought.
Actor/Actress you want to join the cast: Could you imagine if someone like Hiroki Yatsumoto voiced someone? Or Masaya Onosaka? Ahhhh or even Takahiro Sakurai! Just get Makoto Furukawa to guest star a character along with some other One Punch Man voice actors! It would be a fun time I’m sure.
Favourite outfit: I would say Knuckle. How does he stay looking so good??? His clothes never get dirty. But I do love how Pakunoda dresses. She just looks so lovely, ugghgh
Favourite item: The Hunter cards! ❤ They just look so iconic. Definitely Hotel Raffelasia. Gon’s fishing rod. And Crazy Slots!! Technically not an item himself, but Kite’s scythe is definitely the coolest weapon.
Do you own anything related to this show/book/film?: I do now. ❤
What house/team/group/friendship group/family/race/etc would you be in?: I would love to be in the little family Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio have together. I do have to say I would want to be apart of the Extermination Team, too! What great groups of friends.
Most boring plotline: I honestly did get bored watching through the Phantom Troupe and Greed Island Arcs when I first watched Hunter x Hunter, but I really need to rewatch them. When I think back on them, I feel like I didn’t appreciate them enough. I might enjoy them more after I watch it from the beginning again.
Most laughably bad moment: Whenever Hisoka shows up and he’s just like that
Best flashback/flashfoward if any: The one during Shoot’s inner monologue, and the one of Gon meeting Kite for the first time. Definitely. Even though Gon meeting Kite was the opening for Hunter x Hunter in the manga. There’s also the one Knuckle has where my most favorite picture comes from. ❤
Most layered character: I jokingly say Shoot because my goodness that man wears layers of bandages, but he really is a layered character. There’s actually a whole bunch of layered characters throughout the series.
Most one dimensional character: I’m honestly not sure.
Scariest moment (and Grossest moment, I’m mixing both questions for my answer): When the Chimera Ants would kill people.
Best looking male: Knuckle. I love my Shoot, but…Japanese pompadoured delinquents make me swoon. They are seriously my biggest weakness. Especially him. 💘💘💘 My poor, weak heart. I can’t even look at him without melting.
Best looking female: Pakunoda and Palm. Both women are beautiful in their own way. And Melody is of course very warm and sweet, I adore how she looks. ❤
Who you’re crushing on (if any): …Shoot… ❤💍
Favourite cast moment: When Megumi Han got really emotional speaking at one of the panels for The Last Mission in front of fans. It was so genuine and sweet.
Favourite transportation: I always loved the shuttle train! When Gon and Killua used to get to the tournament, and when Morel and the others traveled together. ❤ It makes me wish I could go on long and cozy train rides to different places like that in real life.
Most beautiful scene (scenery/shot wise): When Gon was hiding out to watch Hisoka in the bushes, and the sun shown through the trees. Anytime a scene would be in a forest or in walkways of trees, really! The way the sunlight shines through the trees and leaves in patches over the vast green surrounding is just so pretty. I just love the colors, contrast, everything. Oh! And when Knuckle was punching Youpi!!! Like ahhhhhh Madhouse!!! Every once in a while in Hunter x Hunter that fluid Madhouse animation would just hit you!
Unanswered question/continuity issue/plot error that bugs you: I wish we could have seen what Kite’s other rolls (weapons) were. 💔 Along with Hanzo’s, Knuckle’s, and Shoot’s backstories! We know just a bit about Knuckle’s past, but nothing about Hanzo nor Shoot really. I would want to know why they all became hunters!
Best promo: Hm…I haven’t seen promos or anything at all for the series. This wouldn’t fit the answer I don’t think, but I loved the little “To Be Continued” ending scenes with Gon and Killua. They were so cute! I actually missed them during the Chimera Ant Arc.
At what point did you fall in love with this show/book: Honestly, I’m not sure. I just ended up really liking it just by watching it from the beginning. Watching the first episode over at my love’s house piqued my interest in the series, but then a few weeks or so later I started watching it all the way through, and the rest was history. Everything blurs together for me because I literally blew through episodes watching them, but I had fun watching them all. And…even though the Chimera Ant Arc leaves me heartbroken and sickened, characters like Knuckle and Shoot came out of nowhere, and I was so excited to see them in such an awful part of the story. They were a breath of fresh air. And, of course…I got to meet Shoot. A character I will cherish and keep in my heart for the rest of my life. I already talk about him to death, but he came into my life at the perfect time. He gives me strength. I truly am happy I found Hunter x Hunter and just got into it.
#thank you so much for the ask! 💓 I had a feeling#hunter x hunter#hxh#askbox#m3v3#joy#this was so fun to do!#now I really want to do one for opm...or even a video game one like sonic or pokemon!!#💓#long post

Prompt
Thank you so much @islandsofbooks for the prompt ask!! I think I'll go for the road trip with the Main Squad (but the PT might make a cameo)! Sorry that this one is a bit short!
Added Note: Kurapika and Leorio are college-age (I think)
“Are we lost? I think we’re lost,” Gon piped up from the back seat.
“No, of course we’re not lost!” Leorio snapped, one hand knuckle-white on the steering wheel. “I’m holding the map right here!”
The blond in the passenger’s seat sighed in exasperation. “Leorio, you’re holding the map upside down.”
The medical student spluttered, turning his ridiculous paper map the right way. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
“I shouldn’t have had to,” Kurapika replied calmly, “and what kind of moron doesn’t use a GPS?”
Cue indignant gasp. “Well, at least I’m not the idiot who forgot to load the car with enough gas!”
Kurapika’s eyebrow ticked with annoyance. “You never told me that we were using my car!”
“Well, I’m not the one who has a frickin’ minivan! What are you, a suburban mom?” Leorio shot back.
“Oh, shit’s getting real,” Killua whispered to his friend beside him. Gon nodded, looking a tad fearful, as he should.
“You know what? Pull over!” Kurapika demanded, completely losing his cool facade. Leorio glanced over at the shady gas station on the side of the road.
“What, here? Are you crazy?”
“You heard me. Pull the damn car over. Or so help me god—” Kurapika hissed, his ‘disappointed-and-dangerous’ mom-voice on full blast. The poor recipient of his ire swallowed nervously and did as he was told.
As soon as the car had stopped in front of a gas pump, Kurapika sprung out of the driver’s seat, gesturing for Leorio to do the same.
“I’m driving this time,” he explained, pinning the taller man with a challenging stare.
“But—“
“No buts. Now go with the boys to get some snacks from the convenience store.”
Once again, Leorio hesitated, which did nothing for Kurapika’s nerves. “Are you sure? I swear I saw the cashier holding a knife earlier!”
“Stop being a baby,” Kurapika demanded advised. “Now shoo!”
Not wanting to dig himself any deeper into his own grave, Leorio obeyed, dragging the two hyper-active thirteen-year-olds along with him.
As it turned out, the cashier was actually a very nice man that did not indeed have a knife on him (the supposed ‘knife’ had actually just been a click-open comb). While Gon and Killua ran around the store picking out what had to be an inhuman amount of sugar, Leorio took the time to actually download a GPS app onto his phone. Believe it or not, he actually did listen to half the crap that Kurapika yelled at him for. Not because he cared what the blond thought. No, absolutely not.
Slapping himself mentally for such thoughts, Leorio looked around for the boys. “Gon! Killua! Hurry up, or Kurapika will whoop our asses!”
“Language!” Gon admonished, expression every bit as chiding as a certain blond’s. Leorio’s eye twitched momentarily. His influence is spreading!
“Sure. Now, do you have everything that you want?” The two kids nodded. “Are you absolutely sure? I don’t want to have to come all the way back because someone forgot water or anything.” Pinning Killua with an meaningful look, Leorio continued, “I’m talking about you, Killua.”
“We have everything, Pops,” Killua said, his weariness bordering dramatic. “Stop being such a mother-hen; that’s Kurapika’s job, anyway.”
Gon nodded wisely. “Yeah. Speaking of Kurapika, who’s that weird man he’s talking to?”
Immediately, Leorio’s brain went into emergency mode. Oh shit, oh shit. Kurapika’s going to be pick-pocketed and he’s going to blame me!
“Hey!” Killua exclaimed. “It’s that motorcycle dude from a couple weeks ago!”
“Oh, yeah!”
Leorio carried out what he thought was a casual sweep of what was behind him, but judging by the fact that he’d almost whacked his head on a nearby magazine rack, he hadn’t been successful.
Sure enough, the pretty blond was conversing with a dark-haired man dressed rather impeccably in a shiny leather jacket and dark jeans. Leorio suddenly felt very embarrassed at his stuffy button-up and slacks. Why, oh why did he have to pick this very day to dress like an eighty-year-old?
Right. It was because Kurapika had told him that he looked nice. Leorio felt a marginally better.
But the mystery guy’s fashion sense wasn’t the most worrying part of the situation. Leorio scowled when he caught sight of the growing discomfort in Kurapika’s stance. It was only because he knew him so well, Leorio supposed, that he was able to pick up on the other’s subtle emotions. And the strange guy was giving Kurapika what had to be the most obvious once-over in history. Seriously. Of course, this had to be the day that Kurapika was wearing one of his more revealing outfits. Leorio sighed.
A thought struck the medical student.
“Wait, what do you mean, ‘the motorcycle dude from a couple weeks ago?”
Killua smirked. “Well, that dude just popped out of nowhere while we were with Kurapika grocery shopping. He started sprouting out some sort lovey-dovey stuff to Kurapika in the middle of the cereal isle.”
Leorio’s face flickered between various shades of red.
“Better go save your man,” Killua urged, obviously enjoying every moment of the situation.
“Okay. Okay,” Leorio agreed, and he had almost walked out the door when he froze. “But not before we pay!”
Gon and Killua groaned at the anticlimactic exclamation.
A full two minutes later, the three of them exited the convenience store laden with plastic bags. Leorio wasted no time waltzing straight up to the blond, dad-mode on high.
At once, the mystery man’s face furrowed, and Kurapika visibly relaxed at his presence. Taking in the fact that he was a good few inches taller than the dark-haired stranger, Leorio stepped closer to Kurapika, something that the blond surprisingly allowed.
“Who’s this?”
Kurapika smiled, eyes alight with something a bit wicked. “This is Leorio,” he replied simply, turning to grin up at the medical student. Leorio’s heart skipped a beat. “Leorio, this is my ex, Kuroro Lucilfer.”
The man named Kuroro straightened a bit, sizing up Leorio. “You misunderstand my question, Kurapika,” he said, a slight accent curling seductively over his words. “Who exactly is this Leorio to you?”
Kurapika opened his mouth to reply, but Leorio felt that it was his turn to step in. “His boyfriend. But I don’t see why it should concern you,” he said, his voice coming out smoother than usual.
A smirk flitted across Kuroro’s roguish features. “Really? Kurapika, you break up with me, and within a year you’ve turned into some sort of domestic mother-hen?” Kuroro baited, nodding at Leorio’s clothes and the red minivan behind them.
“Where I come from, we call that ‘maturity’,” Leorio quipped, dropping a quick kiss onto the blond’s forehead. “Come on, love, let’s go. Don’t want to be late to Mom’s birthday, now do we?”
Kurapika nodded, cheeks slightly pink. Tilting his head slightly to the side, the blond spoke coldly. “It was decidedly not a pleasure meeting you again, Kuroro. May we never see each other again.”
To his credit, Kuroro did the most ‘I’m-a-shocked-ex’ face ever, something that Kurapika would still be laughing about hours later.
As soon as they pulled out of the parking lot (with Killua and Gon snickering in the backseat), Leorio and Kurapika both breathed out a huge sigh of relief. Making eye contact, the two of them busted out laughing.
“Oh, the look on his face was priceless!” Kurapika cried.
“Serves him right! Wearing that much hair product should be illegal!” Leorio exclaimed. Kurapika snorted, quite uncharacteristically.
Once the two of them had calmed down enough, Kurapika smiled fondly at the other.
“Thanks for pretending like that.”
Leorio’s ears turned pink. “Pretend? Y-yeah. That was all me acting. Haha,” he replied nervously.
“Then you’re a good actor,” Kurapika praised, eyes not leaving the road. “You were great.” There was an odd, strained note to his words.
“Thanks,” Leorio replied, watching the blond’s face hopefully. Maybe... just maybe...
And it’s done! This was supposed to just be a platonic comedy, but yeah, this mess happened. It also turned out more as a gas pit-stop story than an actual roadtrip... sorry about that. I hope that you liked it, though! Sorry for the lack of editing and the short message!

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans Season 2 EP#13 (38) - Hunter of Angels: In a grueling showdown, Mikazuki fights and slays the Hashmal, despite the Gundam Barbatos Lupus sustaining heavy damage - and consequently, his entire right side becoming paralyzed from the strain of the battle. One month later, Orga reports to McMurdo about the incident and Gjallarhorn's searching for other Calamity War remnants on Mars. As a show of trust, Orga gives McMurdo his sakazuki cup to break, should Tekkadan be considered a hindrance to Teiwaz. While McMurdo declines to break the cup due to his investments on Mars, he warns Orga that any betrayal of Teiwaz would lead to severe consequences for Tekkadan. Meanwhile, McGillis explains his side of the incident to the Seven Stars council, placing the blame on Iok. Rustal refuses to agree with Iok due to a lack of evidence to support his argument, allowing McGillis to claim credit for slaying the Hashmal. Later, Rustal grants Julieta her request to become the test pilot for Gjallarhorn's new machine, which is powerful but unstable. Fearing that Mikazuki may not come back from the next battle, Atra begs Kudelia to bear his children. Humiliated by McGillis, feeling betrayed by Rustal's refusal to defend him and obsessed with his honor and his men's sacrifice, Iok orders his servants to contact Jasley.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders EP#22 - Judgement, Part 2: Corresponding with Polnareff's third wish, Cameo makes a clay doll of Avdol, who joins the Cherie doll in attacking Polnareff, biting off his flesh. Before the dolls can kill off Polnareff, he is suddenly saved by the real Avdol, who had actually survived his encounter with Hol Horse as the seemingly fatal bullet had only grazed him. With the two managing to overcome the dolls, Avdol brings out the full strength of Magician's Red against Cameo's Judgement, effectively disippating it. After the fight, Polnareff and Avdol find a piece of bamboo sticking out from the ground, surmising that the real Cameo is hidden below. The pair drop spiders and mud down to block his breathing, and they finishing by urinating into the bamboo, which forces him to the surface, where Avdol properly deals with him. After reuniting with the group, Polnareff is shocked to find that the others knew Avdol was alive the entire time, keeping it a secret from him to prevent the enemy from finding out. Avdol further reveals he had disguised himself as his father in order to purchase a submarine for the group.
Hunter x Hunter: The Chimera Ant Arc EP#81 - The × Fight × Begins: Confirming his suspicions, Kite finds clues about the dark side of the NGL and meet Rammot, one of the Chimera Ants. Knowing that much stronger foes await them ahead, Kite declares that Gon and Killua must defeat the enemy by themselves, or they will not be allowed to proceed further with him. Meanwhile, the Chimera Ant commanders take heed of Nen-enhanced humans and make plans to capture them in order to attend the Queen's increasing demands for nutrition.
Space Dandy EP#01 - Live with the Flow, Baby: Alien hunter Dandy and his robot companion QT search the galaxies for rare alien species while aboard their spaceship, the Aloha Oe. They travel to a local breastaurant named BooBies, where they eventually find a Betelgeusean, later recognized as Meow. However, Dandy mistakes Meow for a new species after tussling with him. Meow boards the Aloha Oe and tells Dandy and QT about a planet inhabited with rare alien species. The crew of the Aloha Oe ventures into an unknown dimension when Meow foolishly engages their broken warp drive, in which Dandy then pulls on a wayward cosmic string and brings them to the planet by coincidence. Dandy and Meow set foot on this planet, only to be chased by giant creatures. When Dandy and Meow are unable to return to the spaceship, Dandy accidentally orders QT to activate a "secret weapon" that obliterates the entire planet and everything on it, including the crew of the Aloha Oe.
Outlaw Star EP#19 - Law and Lawlessness: The Outlaw Star and its crew is captured by private security forces and Gene confronts their leader, a Saurian named Dooes, accompanied by his colleague, Valeria. The security forces attempt to help an injured civilian ship, but it turns out to be a Trojan horse. The Outlaw Star and its crew save the security forces and are rewarded with dragonite.
Cowboy Bebop EP#17 - Mushroom Samba: The Bebop, out of food and fuel, is sideswiped in a hit-and-run off of Europa and crash-lands on Io. Ed, with Ein by her side, is sent out to procure food, and ends up running across Domino Walker, a bounty-head who is smuggling hallucinogenic mushrooms.
This episode pays homage to 1970s "blaxploitation" films such as Coffy and Shaft. Shaft's dragging a coffin behind him wherever he goes is a reference to the 1966 Spaghetti Western Django.
This episode is also a TV Trope namer. source: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MushroomSamba
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig EP#11 (37) - IN: Grass Labyrinth – AFFECTION: Batou and Togusa test eight potential new recruits for Section 9. The men are placed in pairs to create four different teams, each tasked with tracking Major Kusanagi. However, Kusanagi proves to be a difficult target to track, and eventually she loses all four teams. Shortly after shaking off the last team, Kusanagi unexpectedly loses all communication and finds herself lost in a seemingly empty part of the city. While trying to locate her team, she happens across a shop that stores people's external memories, and hears the story of two child prosthetic bodies carefully preserved in the shop. The bodies once belong to a boy and a girl who were involved in a terrible plane crash, leaving the two children the only survivors of the wreck after the other mortally wounded passengers die. While the boy was in the hospital he learned that he had been paralyzed except for his left hand, which he used to make origami cranes non-stop for the girl. One day, the girl, who had been in a coma since arriving in the hospital, unexpectedly went downhill fast, and was moved to the OR. The boy believed that she had died, but two years later a girl his age was brought to the hospital in an effort to convince the boy to switch to a full-cyborg prosthetic body, after previous attempts by a relative and doctors to convince him had failed. The boy was reluctant to do so at first because the girl had difficulty with the fine motor skills of her own new body, but he eventually relented and accepted the prosthetic body, after realizing the girl visiting him was the very same one from the crash who he believed had died. Years later the boy, who had been searching for the girl since he left the hospital, happened across her childhood prosthetic in a lab and took it upon himself to preserve it. When Kusanagi inquires as to the current whereabouts of the boy, she learns that he was shipped out in the last days of the war, and has not been heard from since. Before Kusanagi leaves, she carefully folds a sugar cube wrapper into an origami crane and places it in the car beside the body of the boy, saying "I'll bet that even now... that girl is still searching for the first boy she ever loved."

H x H reaction episode 100
🎶 This is episode 100 ! This is episode 100 ! If this was an american TV show, this would be the Musical Episode with old characters coming back just for a cameo or something. 🎶
You know what ? It’s actually really nice to see Killua being so into his mission ? Like, I don’t even think it’s just for Gon, I think he is really trying to save people and he really gains some self-worth by doing this, so go Killua ! I’m proud of you.
… Can you ?
… Is he ? This guy looks more full of crap than anything else, but if you say so.
I got to say, I have very little respect for the ants in general. It’s not even the whole ‘our goal is the annihilation of human race’ bit, it’s just… they are… so stupid… it’s hurting me.
Killua is really anxious, and I wonder how different he acts, now, without Illumi’s curse on him ? I mean, sure, it was awful and it held him back and made that he couldn’t get better, but at the same time, it was an easy way to understand when an enemy was really dangerous, you know ?
Now he is in the dark with everything he does, and that’s a big deal ( and I can’t believe he didn’t talk about it to no one URGH )
Go baby, you’re the best ~ Also I think this is the first moment where I get what Bahare is saying about him losing his baby face. I can sort of see it during the fight.
Yurk. Can you not, weird guy.
??? Okay ??? Thanks narrator ??? I like that we don’t even have a fake narrator inserted in the story, it’s just the narrator telling us stuff. This is terrible writing but actually an improvement so I’m laughing.
Oh, yeah, we still have to deal with this guy. Kill this fake narrator, Gon, we don’t need him anymore !
Why would you be angry about it, though. It’s true.
I took a screen of this scene for many reasons. All of them make me confused.

OKAY I FUCKING FINISHED AND IM FUCKING SCREAMING
It took me 3 hours yesterday to watch 20 minutes, and today I started at 11am and know it’s almost 9pm
it took me fucking 11 hours or so to finish this goddamn movie that I didn’t even like I hate t h is
at least know I have 260 screenshots of Phantom Rouge on my computer and most of them are Kurapika’s so it’s not lost per se.
But man this movie is a trainwreck.
While I enjoyed some of the Leopika moments (I’m weak) and consider Kurapika too pretty for it, this was mostly a trainwreck. The moments with Killua’s issues were painful to see. Omokage could have been interesting but his powers were pure nonesense and it was just annoying. Kurapika’s powers were slave of the plot. Also fuckign nice we got the Kurta’s flashbacks in this movie, like, it was butchered, Pairo was barely really in and it had no real incidence on Kurapika, what the fucking heck. The troupe makes a glorified cameo and really? This is almost my favorite parts with the Leopika parts, because those are stuff I’d like them to say eventually, so I fall for fanservice anytime.
Killua was so weirdly written that the few times I might have enjoy it (i when he doesn’t want Kurapika to kill again), I had this bitter feeling of “something is off” while I could have enjoyed the scene! and man the moral of the story is so clumsy and rushed what the hell? And Leorio is just. There. He disappears during the fight because of course he does. And man all the things about Illumi drove me nuts;
And I love Kurapika but he should have been more angry, the stuff in the movie should have fucked him up, especially having to destroy Pairo’s puppet. Oh boy and Pairo, I’m too invested in his manga’s counter part to understand or appreciate what they did with him.
Honestly thanks go d Leorio and Kurapika’s scenes are super soft and I’m always a sucker for Leorio taking care of Kurapika especially when Kurapika is being reckless (although at the moment the “moral” of the story about having to move on yada yada from Leorio had me guh, the others leopika moments were gr8)
but oh boy the ones with killua and gon? most of them fell flat because it’s just lowkey using the themes of the manga, but it does it in such a way it doesn’t work??
To be fair I didn’t expect much from a movie that is completely filler, and I mean, there’s a few scenes that are not too bad (Leopika’s scenes are mostly perfs, two scenes with Killua and gon are really worth it, and as clumsy as it is I liked the troupe) but yup.
I would say no regret but it took me 11 hours to get through this shitshow I have so many regrets
I’m gonna rewatch the anime for a few if you don’t mind (and I won’t liveblog it this time, I’m trying to purge myself from the movie kay)
#ichablogging hxhpr#Finally over#s orry#wow it sounds far harsher than I expected#BUT 11 FUCKING HOURS MAN

Decided to ask you on here with my just made Tumblr instead of anonymously, I love HXH with such a passion it hurts to think it may never come back, but my question is, at the end of the series Gon & Killua say goodbye with what seems the end of there adventures completely.. what shocks me is the ease of doing this sense there relationship seems further than just platonic, yet neither seemed super unhappy.. if the series would to continue you think they would be apart of the adventure again? :( I love seeing them together..
well played, asking the question about the current events in hxh that makes me cry the most XD i'm being dramatic, thank you for the ask. honestly, i'm not a good person to ask this because i'm an eternal pessimist. this answer will not make anyone feel better. i will cry writing it. the anime needed an ending so this point in the manga was chosen to be its ending and i think this fact makes Gon and Killua's parting feel even more significant than it feels in an ongoing manga. of course the manga moved away from them, but they did get some cameos in the current arc and they are both connected to the Dark Continent - Gon through Ging and if i remember correctly also Gyro, and Killua through Nanika. so it stands to reason that Togashi will use them again in the story. the question is how, though. will they grow a bit as people and then reunite and recreate the team they used to be? maybe also include someone else in that team? or will they appear separately when the events on the Dark Continent will relate to them individually? the pessimist in me leans to the latter, they will not lose touch with one another but they won't reunite in any permanent way. and i'm saying this mostly because i think Togashi lost interest in them as characters and especially as a duo. again this is my interpretation of the situation and i'm not basing this on anything Togashi said, and to my knowledge he's never made any statements on the subject. as to Gon not having anything to do with his license. funnily enough now Gon is where Killua was at the beginning of the story. i love the resolution of Gon's quest to find Ging. Gon gets this seemingly typical shonen protagonist arc, he's a super human kid, he's one in a million, he learns "magic", he makes friends, he powers up... but he never really battles any antagonist because he needs to defeat them to achieve his goal of finding Ging, with the exception Genthru. and Genthru is one of 2 true major antagonists Gon battles at all in the story. his fight with Pitou is honestly fascinating because it happens after he seems to almost moved on from the desire to find Ging. and after meeting Ging he lets go of this desire completely. he doesn't start to hate Ging, he doesn't idolise him, Gon just lets go. the chimera ant arc actually shows that Gon can have other uses for his license, and these would be pursuits he would enjoy. and i really hope he figures it out. that there are things that he could "hunt" and that would bring him joy and fulfillment. as to Killua, protecting Alluka and Nanika is a step to finding a goal for himself... well it is a proper goal to have. but it's barely a step up from helping Gon out with his goal. he's still not exactly living for himself. he saw that he can't completely dismiss his own feelings to further someone else's life and he got pissed at Gon. but splitting from Gon and diving head first into a relationship with his sisters that could get equally unbalanced really fast is not the best thing for him. because he hasn't really resolved what had happened between him and Gon. neither of them had the chance to really confront that. and here comes the main problem that they are 14 tops. this kind of introspection on a very painful subject is hard for people of any age, but at 14 they have even less tools to tackle it than someone would have at 44. and to maybe stop rambling and circle back to your question. the kind of introspection and vulnerability needed in their situation isn't very shonen. Togashi does give his characters way more vulnerability than i feel is legal in shonen, he is criming over there but he's earned ii and he is getting away with it so far. that being said they are still mostly vulnerable individually and not together. they don't share in each other's personal hell. they go through it separately, in silence. Killua is more aware of Gon's personal hell in the moment, or at least it seems like that. Gon only realises what Killua'd been through after. but they don't share it. and idk if such sharing would fly in shonen, even in hxh.
especially since i think you are correct, there is a romantic aspect it all, on both sides imo. and queerness still barely flies in shonen, and hxh already has Alluka. i hope it answers your question in any way, anon. i'm sorry for rambling
also if you want really good analysis on such hxh topics i really do recommend @subdee . she will give you much better answers than me.
#answering asks#i really want them to reunite and recreate what they had but well better#more aware of one another#i want it so so much#i just think that's fanfic territory not canon#also i'm sorry you were forced to start a tumblr XD
