i'm still stuck in new blog tumblr jail waiting for my posts to show up in the tags so. why not start this blog off by rambling about some supernatural wishlist stuff!! if you've seen any of my other blogs you'll know that i'm obsessed with canon compliant supernatural aus and by god am i feeling that hard with yoi right now...
i really want some supernatural creature victor aus, both versions where he's been keeping his identity a secret from everyone and versions where he doesn't even know that he's anything but human. not sure what kind of creature i'd make him yet, though - something related to ice would obviously be really nice but. hmm...
in general, anything supernatural involving secrets between the main trio would be 100% my jam. be it victor keeping whatever supernatural secret from the two yuris, or yuri keeping things secret from victor and yuuri, or yuuri being the one keeping the secrets... or really any combination of any number of them tbh. especially if two of them know and there's just one who's left in the dark... though of course all the secrets have to come out in the end!!
i read a couple of really fun fics where yuri could read minds and i think i'm gonna add that as a verse for him here because i love that concept. maybe i'll have a "can see ghosts" verse for him as well. victor i actually have less ideas for despite him being my primary muse, but generally for both him and yuri i am craving the "they find out about magic" and/or "other people find out about their magic" threads!!
i know i've made this exact post about my other muses on their own blogs but. what can i say, i'm predictable... and it's even more fun with yoi because it's a show that in canon has zero supernatural elements to it at all!!
i'm starting to come up with more specific verse ideas that i'll post about here once i've got them (including a few really stupid and convoluted ones lmao) but man i guess the point is just... if anyone reading this is as obsessed with supernatural verses as i am and wants to write in one then. hmu because i would be SO down >:)
#ooc#i feel like this post says absolutely nothing despite having many words in it... help#akhjffddjkd but for real this is your warning. that a lot of supernatural verses will be found on this blog in general.#i should really research russian folklore to see if that gives me any ideas...#with victor i hold equal amounts of love for “he's keeping the secrets” (from his loved ones)#AND “he's having the secrets kept from him” (by yuri and/or yuuri#most likely)#but with yuri... actually he's mostly the same tbh#honestly i have everything in mind from more ordinary “witchcraft” aus to like#“yuri and victor get kidnapped and become supernatural assassins before being returned back with no-one any the wiser” type weird shit#I WANT IT ALL!!

¡Skate/sing your hearts out! (Yuri Plizetsky x reader)
(part five)
Part one. Part two. Part three. Part four. Masterlist
Summary: After last year's cancellation of Figure Skating Grand Prix, Yuri Plisetsky finds himself unable to bring out his inner skater after a year of doing nothing but enjoy life like a regular teenager. That's when you enter the picture; We Are Voice Grand Awards's currently hottest competitive vocalist come first place two years in a row. Just like the other competitors of Grand Prix, it turns out that Victor and Yuuri faces the same issue. With an arrangement between Victor and Yakov, they agree to travel to Japan and hire you as a mutual coach for Yuri and Yuuri to help bring back the emotion into their performances like before, maybe even more intense than ever. Yuri however, who's never experienced issues with his coaches before, for some reason finds this one particularly difficult to coexist along with in their (reasonably) odd partnership. Warnings: none
*Yuri's POV*
(One week later)
He groaned, still trying to rub the sleep out of his eyes even after breakfast. The sun was annoyingly bright today and the crowds chatting along the streets became a loud buzzing in his ears. They walk along shore at a smaller street where the typical fisherman has been standing, even years from now since Yuri saw him last. With a face mask up to his eyes and his hoodie up, it also came to be exceedingly hot underneath his disguise. Sweaty again.
In front of him walked Yuuri and Victor, sheering for him to hurry up meanwhile Victor snapped some photos behind his head on him and (Y/n). 'A selfie to remember' he said. Though the sour face of (Y/n) was far from something anyone would like to remember. Terrifying.
Right. Why? Yuri didn't exactly hit it off at its peak this morning with (Y/n) as his roommate. The cold shoulder hitting him like a slap in the face grew even larger every time he tried talk her back to normal state. A 'what's the matter with you? Stop being a drag!' Wasn't gonna get him an answer so far. Though, Yuri found himself surprised that he even made an effort into talking with her in this mood. One week with her and he's already softening up? Not great. He can't treat her as if she isn't a stranger to him, nice or not. Even if she always came at the late ending hours of his practicing at the rink and greeted him with a late snack after training. Star-shaped apple slices and a smoothie. He found it weird the first time and he still does. Every morning and every late evening because Yakov happened to mention that apples were Yuri's favorite fruit.
And this morning? Maybe he could actually admit that he screwed up. It probably could've gone better if he hadn't stolen Magnolia from her... Long story short, she was asleep with the cat in her arms and Yuri sneaked out a makeshift toy to lure him over. (Y/n) quickly noticed that Yuri was now the person cuddling the cat and she tried to call him over for his morning brush with a happy chirping sound. But Yuri had held Magnolia still when he tried to go until the cat was like 'meh whatevs' and went back to sleep in Yuri's arms. He knew now afterwards that it was already a little bit much to hold the cat back but the worst part wasn't past yet. No. The worst part was when he said 'He wants to be with me, not you, you clingy hag' and 'Maybe if you weren't so stubborn and tacky all the time he would be sprinting to you this moment instead of cuddling with his savior.' When she hadn't responded well to his words some unknown force told him to push it harder. So kept on pushing at her limits with spiteful manners and comments. He can't really understand why he'd said that now afterwards. All that came out meanwhile Yuri was still half asleep from past day's exhaustion, and he hadn't yet realized that he probably should filter the way he talk to his coach, nonetheless the,, he wouldn't say idol,, but- Nonetheless the acquaintance she is. Though he couldn't stand her. How itching and irritated he felt whenever she made her own sour looks. Isn't she supposed to be happy sunshine or what? Just get over it already, it was just an insult anyway.
But it was clear that (Y/n) took the insult to heart and has been doing so since then. At breakfast, he had received a bowl of starshaped cut apples put down harshly in front of him at the table. That along with blueberry pancakes. Why she was the one making breakfast, he didn't understand. But it had certainly not been unbearable to eat. No the opposite really. The entire Katsuki household was there along with them and everyone had been gulping it down like starved hounds. But the thing really throwing Yuri off was the fact that his appleslices were the only ones being but into starshapes. Just that she took the extra time even though or because she was upset at him?
Yuri gazed at the girl's direction as he thought of the event. 'So very unnecessary' he thought. Was it some twisted joke he didn't quite get or a revenge he didn't see coming? Because except for the apples, she had been totally snappy with him since they left for the unknown adventure Victor had described it as. And she wouldn't really have made that extra effort out of kindness judging on her mood today.
(Y/n) was very keen not to glance at him just one bit this morning since that breakfast. And when Yuri made a huge deal out of it afterwards, Victor had took him aside and whispered into his ear; 'There will come days where she won't put up with your bullshit anymore and today seems like such a situation. I don't know what you did to cause that reaction because it's quite rare. But I recommend you lay off and let her cool down on her own.' His words had been a sense of advise with a hint of bitterness in it.
Just minutes later he had gathered us four and announced that he would be taking them all somewhere to cleanse our minds and gather our thoughts. He hadn't really understood why all four would go there but that's when (Y/n) decided it was time to announce a pretty important details she almost withheld from him until now. Apparently the entire reason they chose to do this whole coaching in Japan was because she had taken Yuuri as her apprentice as well. It all seemed relevant of course. Why else would Yuri be here right now and not with her back in Russia? But it made him feel uneasy and let down for some stupid reason. Why she apparently thought it was much more important to teach Yuuri than him since they were in Japan right now. He's always gotta be the favorite even though Yuri won gold and proved himself to be better than the piglet. Victor already chose him. And clearly (Y/n) did too. But she made him believe that she came here only to coach him.
He didn't understand anything. He didn't want her coaching, didn't want to hear anything she had to say. She wasn't a real coach even. He certainly didn't want to share a room with her and he didn't want to feel relieved at the sight of her at the rink yesterday, coming to his rescue like that. He just wanted her to stop talking so much but now he couldn't stand the silence she was giving him.
Couldn't she just get her shit together?
"Ta-daaa! We're here!" Victor's shout made Yuri snap back to reality at the beat of a second. It took him a moment to understand the building the man was waving towards but soon he remembered the experiences he had there.
"No- nonono! I'm not going through that hellish session again. No damned waterfalls and no hitting me with a stick!" Yuri turned on his heels but was grabbed by the collar of his neck by a pouting Victor. (Y/n) who was clearly new to the subject gave Yuuri a hesitant look but Victor wasn't going down.
"Come on, it will be great for everyone. And I promise no hitting this time!"
'This time.' He didn't believe it one bit. He knew it was just an attempt to get him through the doors. Once in, no turning back. But if there was going to be hitting, he was secretly hoping that it would not be (Y/n) as the one doing it.
"Still no. There's no way you're getting me through those doors! Never am I ever standing under a waterfall again!"
...
The rapid flow of the water forcibly threatening to push him forwards was as cold as he remembered it. Screw the hitting with sticks, this just felt like someone rapidly slapping him across the back over and over. At least the water could've been warm. What was the deal with that anyway? He knew exactly why going here was kept a secret from him. They would never have caught him if he knew before. Now Yuri is standing in the middle, unable to escape. A quiet but intimidating (Y/n) who hasn't spoken up for hours and Yuuri who seems to actually be taking this whole thing seriously. Then there's the big question. Where is Little blondie Rasputin in the picture. The answer is right in front of him in a corner of the other side of the room. In a bubble bath taking it easy. He said that he'd be making sure we'd concentrate on opening up our minds and he'd tell us if he noticed otherwise. Yuri believed none of it. He just doesn't want to be here himself. Cause why was (Y/n) doing it if both the coaches aren't in on it. She's already in touch with herself and doesn't need it. Part of him guesses that she was participating on her own terms for some reason.
'This isn't working. I'm literally standing here thinking about everything and anything until time passes!' He thought. And...
He made the mistake of looking to his right. (Y/n) was standing close beside him with closed eyes. He was going to close his eyes as well but then he noticed how soft her skin looked. Like, all the wrinkles caused by her constant grumpy face were flattened out. Her mouth hung low and her lips were slightly parted. That made him notice her slow breathing making her chest rise and fall in a nice rhythm. Even though the water hitting his scalp shouted angrily in his ears, he was somehow able to here her melodic breathing. She was doing this the right way. And she looked completely relaxed. Almost asleep.
He kept on listening to her breathing and prayed that she wouldn't open her eyes right this moment. If so, she'd probably have realized right away how long exactly he had been staring at her.
He brushed it off and adverted his gaze, closed his eyes shut. It wasn't anything more than that. He had to get to know her at some point and her striking eyes were always too intimidating for him. He would always look away to feel less stripped of his soul in front of her. It was almost the first time he really could study her features up close, and without her knowing. (D-Did that sound weird-? anyway.)
He couldn't see her anymore but her light breath could still be heard. A part of it made Yuri think of music when he listened to it. He'll focus on that. Mach the breathing to his own.
Everything she did held a steady rhythm to it, unintentionally probably. The music was so much more than just the beautiful voice she had, but it consumed her entire being. Maybe that's why it felt so real on stage.
Does he have to let the skating consume him too? What if he loses control of what he's doing? Starts doing a different choreography or hits the wall again? What would happen if he just let go?
"I think we're done for today. Great job guys! You too Yuri!"
Well, he would never find out because he could never let that happen. Ever. If he doesn't hold control, then what does he have.
Yuuri and (Y/n) came back to reality and stepped out of the fall. Yuri followed short behind and watched the droplets of water running down the back of the girl in front of him. Her shoulders were much less tense than before they begun their session.
'If she thinks she's her to help me let go of all control and fly off the surface of the earth, then I'm sorry. For your coaching will have been in vain.'
...
Yuri was the last one out of the showers and was alone in the locker room as the piglet had already finished before him. He put one the clothes he came in since he came unprepared and set off to the main entrance. To his surprise, he found (Y/n) leaned against a nearby wall just outside the path leading the separate changing rooms apart. 'She's been waiting for me?' She still looks stern but this time Yuri's directly hit in the face by it. She's not ignoring him anymore. Her eyes are as piercing as always but not with excitement or content as usual. Yuri has to turn his head. The feeling's too much.
He walks beside her this time as well. Not a few feet behind like the way they came here.
Victor's tall back was seen outside the building through the glass doors and the two of them headed out. Yuuri was there too but they weren't alone. A large crowd of screaming teenagers as well as adults were swooning over the two skaters. Reporters and journalists were at the front struggling to ask the pair questions meanwhile guards from the center nearby held them all back. At the corner of his eye (Y/n) was turning slightly pale of the sudden screams that roared as they arrived together. As soon as Yuri was noticed the same reaction came for the second time and he joined in on the surprise. His first instinct was to run and hope none in the crowd ran faster than him. But is seemed like (Y/n) sensed his intentions before he did. A firm and calming hand was placed upon his head and as what- a warning? A threat? He looked at her and she smiled. Not to him, but to the crowd.
"Is that (Y/n) and Yuri Plisetsky?"
"Yes! But why are they in Japan? And together?"
"Aww look! They look so cute together!"
A couple pictures were taken of the two of them and Yuri was as stunned by the girl's hand as well as her warm presence towards her fans. He was even too caught up to snap her hand away.
"How long have you known each other?"
"Yuri YURI! What were you doing in there with the Aubade duchess of (nationality)?" Duchess? Right. One of her many titles created by her fan base. It's pretty funny. Why a duchess? Why not a queen or an empress? Yuri wasn't the one to complain though. He was called the Russian punk.
"(Y/n), any reason you're in Japan? Any hot news you'd like to share with us?" The woman asking leaned over the fighting arms of the guard and winked playfully at the two of them. He saw (Y/n) getting visibly uncomfortable at the suggestive question and she stuttered, trying to come up with something smooth and contained for the reporter to use in her article. Yuri was just pissed off at how rudely this woman got all up in their private life like that. He felt like it had been put upon (Y/n) as her responsibility alone to answer that and that just made him angrier.
But the back of the tall Russian male hiding him from camera views stopped the salty defensive words he almost spit out.
"Of course! It's about time to announce anyway. On the behalf of myself and Yakov Feltsman, we're proud to announce that (Y/n) (l/n) will spend her time in Japan as coach for our competing skaters; Yuri Plisetsky and Yuuri Katsuki, in their preparations for this year's Grand Prix senior division!" Victor's worlds were happily announced to the audience and the next moment all hell of a screaming mess broke loose. The reporters rushed sideways to call their firms about the news and the guards almost failed to hold the fighting fans at bay. It all was a mess already. It went from being super private and secretive to Victor dropping the act without warning and soon the whole world would know in just a couple of minutes.
Shit.
A/N; Aaand another chapter! I have so fun writing these and it's almost like therapy session for me too:') no waterfalls though. It seems like Yuri's starting to warm up to (Y/n) right? Well... Baby steps;) What do you think will happen in next chapter? Let me know what you think!

The phone call
Here's some notices or warnings before reading!
A trans man giving birth, Seungchuchu, Trans Phichit, Haikyuu x Yuri on Ice.
Seung-gil pov-
I entered the rink, sat down my bag and took a sip out of my thermos of coffee, "Hi coach." I greeted, tired and already done with my coach for the day.
"Greetings Seung-gil, sit down we need to figure out your skating routine for the next competition."
I nodded at my coach and sat down. I sat there, listening to my coach's instructions.. Well I wasn't really listening, I couldn't bring myself to focus... Phichit, my husband, had been really sick recently. I knew that he knew why but he wouldn't tell me, while some secrets were fine, it just felt to serious to be kept a secret. But if he wants to keep that stuff to himself, then I have no wish to pry into his business.
My coach, Min-so Park, must have noticed. She gave me a light flick on the ear and raised her voice by a inch, "Pay attention." She said.
I had to restraint myself from saying something else other then sorry, "Sorry, stuff has been happening at home."
"Don't carry that onto the ice, Seung-gil."
"..Sorry.." I said, trying to sound like I was actually sorry which I wasn't.
"Alright, now how about we do this song?" She said pointing to a list of songs she had written down.
"Sure, when are we going to figure out outfits though?"
"Probably tomorrow, we need to make sure this song is good for you before we figure out costumes."
She put the list down and walked over to the music-playing setup, "Lets start practice, Seung-gil."
I nodded as I re-tied my skates and went onto the ice, ready for a tiring day of practice. I just hope Phichit is doing alright.. I'm worried, so fucking worried.
Phichit pov-
I flushed the toilet, washed the disgusting taste out of my mouth out and exited the bathroom, I took my time walking down the stairs, holding onto the handle for dear life even though my feet were fine. I still don't wanna fall. Eventually after what felt like a lifetime, I made it to the couch where I flopped and grabbed my phone. As I massaged my headache, I hit Yuuri's contact, his nickname in my phone being 'bestie' I let out a silent swear as a sting of pain came but I hit the 'call' button and sucked up the pain.
Thankfully he picked up, even though he is at practice
"Hey Phichit, did you need something?"
I let out a small fake sob, "I feel like shit.."
"Oh, is Seung-gil with you?"
"No, he wanted to stay home but his coach made him come in.."
I could tell the Japanese skater was rolling his eyes, "Have I told you how much I hate his coach?"
"Yep."
After snickering I went back to the original topic, "But I wanted to ask you what you think I've come down with. Its been a week! I have never been sick for more then 2 days and I am scared!"
Yuuri clicked his tongue, "Ok.. Tell me more, I think I have an idea.."
"Well, I have been puking a lot.."
"That happens when you're sick typically.." Now that I think about it, yeah I do puke a bunch when I rarely get sick.
"Yeah.. And you know how I hate pickles?"
"Yes?"
"I now wanna dip those in chocolate and have it for breakfast."
"Any body pain?"
"Well my stomach and hurt like a bitch and my back wants to break."
"...." Yuuri went silent.
"Uh, Yuuri? Bestie? What's wrong?"
"Don't think I'm weird for saying this alright?"
"We've been friends for like 19 years, nothing you say will make me weirded out."
"You never got a bottom surgery when you transitioned right?"
"No, I still wanted kids so I never got much done, you know, minus getting my breasts removed."
"So, I think you should go get a pregnancy test.."
My eyes went wide, "Wha?! Why?!"
"I just think that you have a lot of the symptoms that pregnant people have. I may be wrong but its better now then later, right?"
I went quiet before speaking again, "...What will Seung-gil think?"
Yuuri went out a little chuckle, "Well, if he's as good a husband as you say, he'll stay there and help you."
I chuckled along, "Yeah.. I'll talk to you later."
When I hit the end call button, I threw my phone to the other side of a coach. Upon hearing that, Seung-gil's Siberian Husky came running over and hopped on the couch to try and make me feel better by rubbing his head against my hand.
I smiled bright "Hi buddy.."
"You may be getting a human friend in a few months if Yuuri was right.." I chuckled.
This made the dogs head perk up, his tail started wagging and he went out a bork of excitement.
"I know! so exciting!" I gave him head scratches before walking to the door and grabbing my keys
I turned back to Snow, "Dads gonna go out for a bit, don't cause too much havoc while I'm gone, ok?"
After hearing another bark from the grey-white dog, I left the large apartment and started to walk down the hallway. Even when I was in the lobby and out the front door to my car, I couldn't stop opening and closing my husbands contact.. 'Save it until you actually know..' After taking a breath and by that I mean about 10 breathes, I put the keys in and drove to the store to get the test.
When I pulled into the parking lot, I unbuckled slowly and got my hat and my mask. I did everything slowly, I was just nervous.. I then thought of how lucky I would be to have a kid.. All the happy moments, seeing Seung-gil falling asleep with a baby atop his chest, and that babies adorable face.. With those ideas in my head I opened my car door and practically ran into the store.
Once I entered, I walked to the pharmacy section and after scanning the shelf like 4 times, my eyes finally landed on the pregnancy test, "Damn I must have been staring at it for like 2 minutes." I joked, I grabbed it and walked to the counter to pay, I walked back out to my car and went about 9 miles over the speed limit to get home.
Seung gil pov-
It was coming to be the middle of practice, which was when I was allowed a really quick water break before starting practice again.
"Ok Seung-gil! You can have a water break!" Coach shouted
I nodded and walked over to the bench, right when I was about to grab my water, I heard my phone ringing. When I checked the name.. It was my husband, Phichit.
"I told you to not have your phone out during practice!"
"My husbands really sick so I couldn't really NOT have it on or out." I retorted
"Just answer it."
I rolled my eyes and answered, "Hello?"
Phichit's voice on the other line was nervous, "Uh.. Hey Seung-gil.. Can you come home? Like right now?"
"Why? Are you ok?"
"We just need to talk."
"Now?" I repeated
"Yeah, sorry for interrupting your practice dear.." He sighed
"No, no! It's ok, I don't wanna be here anyway."
Phichit laughed which made my heart glow, "Alright, see you soon."
"See you soon." And with that I ended the call, grabbed my stuff and walked to the exit.
"SEUNG GIL LEE WHERE THE WORLD ARE YOU GOING?! YOU STILL HAVE PRACTICE!" My coach yelled from the rink,
My voice went back to being cold instead of sweet like when I was on the phone, "Home."
The brown haired woman started running in my direction, "Oh hell no!" But by the time she said that the door was open and I was walking to my car and quickly on the road.
--When he got home--
Once I opened the door I hear the muffled tv in the background, I kicked off my shoes at the door gave the dog some love and went to sit on the couch next to my husband.
"Welcome home.." The Thai's boy was quiet.
"So what did you wanna talk about dear? You never call me back from practice...."
"Uh.. You know how I said I was trans? How I was born a girl not a male?"
"Yes?"
Phichit stood up and walked in the direction of the bedroom, "Its best I show you, wait here.."
I nodded and waited. he came back a minute later, holding a something that looked familiar to me, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Once he sat down he handed the long stick to me,
"Guess what.. You're a dad.." His voice was nervous
I looked at the pregnancy test.
Then back to him.
"I get it if you are mad if I didn't tell you sooner that this could happen but, I have always wanted to start a family with you so, please, help me parent our child."
I couldn't even speak, I just wrapped my arms tightly around Phichit, "There is no universe where I would pass up to take care of a child with you." I breathed before continuing to speak, "I love you so much. We are going to have a happy family here, ok? I will do whatever I can to support our family."
When I finally looked up at my husband, tears were streaming down his face, I panicked, "Why are you crying?! Did I say something?!"
He laughed, wiping his small tears away, "No, you're just fine. I'm just.. happy."
I gave him a kiss on the forehead, "Are you hungry? I was thinking of ordering pizza."
"Can you get me pineapple pizza..?"
I let out a snort, "Sure."
--After ordering pizza--
Once we sat down, we happily ate, I smiled as I watched Phichit devour his pizza and his cute little face have pizza sauce get dotted on the cheeks and his chin. After he chewed he started to speak
"Hey I have a question about your coach."
I put down my pizza and looked at the cute boy, "What of her?"
"Well, I think you either need to talk to her, or get a new coach."
"I mean I would love to, but why?" I asked
"She never lets you have any holidays off or anything, no special days, no calling in before hand, no calling in sick, nothing! The only way you get out of practice is just walking out. I feel like when the kid is born, that wont be an option anymore."
I nodded my head, taking a bite from my pizza, "Yeah, you're right. I wanted to find a new coach anyway, I just needed a reason."
Phichit chuckled before gasping, "Hold on! I need to go call some people!"
I rubbed my forehead, giving a small smile, "Who are you calling?"
"Y'know, Guang-Hong, Leo and Yuuri! Imma tell them they're uncles now!"
"Alright! Don't take too long!"
A few minutes later I could hear excited gasps and congratulations coming from the kitchen
---A few months later--
Phichit pov-
I was on the phone panicking, Seung-gil couldn't be here, his coach wouldn't let him leave no matter how hard he tried so I was on the phone with Yuuri.
"Stay calm till I get there! I'll get you to the hospital Phichit."
"It fucking hurts!"
"I know just hold on!"
A few minutes later of trying to talk to keep the pain away, the door swung open with Yuuri behind it, he came over, helped me up and we got into the car.
"You're going to be a dad.. Mom? What do you wanna be called anyway?" Yuuri asked
"Whatever the child prefers."
"Do you know the gender yet?"
"No we decided to wait till he's born, which I guess is soon!" I was excited but also nervous.
"..Seung-gil will find a way to get to the hospital to see you, even if he has to jump out a window or something."
I snorted, "Victor did that didn't he?"
"I mean, yeah~"
We finally made it to the hospital and after circling the parking spot a few times, we got out and walked through the entrance.
"When I come out my life's gonna be so different.."
"Mhm! But that's a good thing!" Yuuri reminded me
"Yeah."
--About 15 minutes later--
Seung gil pov-
Once I finally got away from my coach by jumping out the window of the boys locker room and was able to maneuver my ass through the rush hour traffic, I arrived at the hospital. When I entered I instantly spotted Yuuri Katsuki, my husbands best friend and ran over to him.
"How is he?!"
"Thank god you're here."
I sat down and panted, "Yeah, my coach forced me to stay at practice, I had to crawl out through a window."
"Knew it."
"Anyway, is Phichit doing ok?"
Yuuri nodded, "Yes, they have him back there now."
"Can I not go in?"
"Ok."
I started tapping my foot from nervousness I didn't notice Yuuri get up but when I did he was holding coffee in his hand, "Here. They had a coffee cart over there, I figured you would want something to drink."
I took it from his hand, "Thanks."
"So what are you hoping for?"
"Heh, Phichit was hoping for a boy and I would be dead if I said a girl." I laughed
"Do you have a name in mind?"
"Not really, we know we want to change his last name so he can live a normal life though."
"Any ideas for that?"
"We'll figure it out. Phichit is a spur of the moment person, y'know?"
"Oh I know that too well." Yuuri took a sip of his drink before speaking again
"So, you remember when I was watching your dog at my house?"
"Yes?"
"Our dogs cuddled."
My mouth went wide, "Do you have photos?!"
"Yep!"
about 4 hours later-
"Family and friends of Phichit Lee may come in now." The doctor called
I looked at Yuuri, "You go by yourself first Seung-Gil he wants to see you more then me."
I got up and walked to the room and sat on a chair next to the hospital bed,
"Say hello to your son!" Phichit said, a smile from ear to ear on his face.
"He's adorable." I said, reaching out my pointer finger, which the little boy grabbed and held onto with his tiny hands.
"Mhm."
The child blinked a bit, "He has your eyes." I pointed out
"Just as cute too." Phichit added
"Mhm."
"So, what are we thinking for names?"
"Uhh.. I was actually thinking about it in the car."
"Oh? What did you come up with?
"I was thinking of naming him Sakusa Kiyoomi."
"That sounds good."
"Do you want to hold him?"
"Sure."
I reached my hands out and Phichit handed me my son, "I'm really a father.."
"Mhm. I love you so much."
"I love you too dear," He reached out and booped Sakusa nose
"And I love you too, Sakusa."
-16 years later-
Sakusa pov-
I was texting Atsumu, my boyfriend about practice and such.
----
'Tsumu: Hey sweet, adorable love of my life ♥♥! I have a question
Omi: Please use normal pet-names
'Tsumu: Nah
Omi: 😶😑Yes, dear?
'Tsumu: When am I gonna meet your parents? 🤔
Omi: You can come over after practice, if you want.
'Tsumu: Woah! 😲 Really?!
Omi: Sure, I don't care.
'Tsumu: Wait, aren't you at practice too?
Omi: Yeah we're taking a water break
'Tsumu: Well, I'll leave you alone! Love you! See you later tonight Omi-Omi! 😍😘💗💓
Omi: See you then, 'Tsumu <3
----
When I turned off my phone I didn't realize my cousin, Kimori, was standing right over me reading my texts.
"So, hows the married life?
"CHRIST!" I yelped
I regained my composure as the rest of the team looked over, "Great, how are you and that snake boy?" I was referring to Suguru Daishou, who was the captain of the Nohebi Academy volleyball team.
Kimori let out a gasp of betrayal, "Rude!"
"Right.."
The coach called us back onto the court, I stood up and ran back to the court with my team.
--After practice--
I sat there at the train stations coffee shop and sipped on a thing of tea while working on my laptop. I wanted to finish up school work before 'Tsumu got here, after all. While I was typing away on a writing assignment, my phone buzzed, it was one of my dads, Phichit Lee. I finished typing the paragraph, I placed a period, picked up my phone and went to answer the message.
---
Pops: Hey Kiddo👋, me and your dad will be late coming home from practice. Stop by the rink ⛸⛸ if you need anything! ♥♥
Kiyoomi: Will do. Also I will be having my boyfriend over.
Pops: Oh! 😲 Me and your dad can stay out later if you need us to😁
Kiyoomi: No, he wanted to meet you and dad.
Pops: We'll try to get home early in that case!
Kiyoomi: Alright good luck with that pair skate practice
Pops: We're gonna need it 😗
--
After about 15 minutes I looked out of the store and saw that Tsumu's train was pulling in, I got in and waited closer to the train for him. Once he got out I called out for him.
"'Tsumu!" I called
When I did that he ran full speed at me and wrapped his hands around my neck, with my hands wrapping around his waist.
He started placing kisses on my cheeks, "Its been so long!"
I laughed, "Its been a week."
"Same difference!"
I gave a final smile before I grabbed the fake blondes hand and led him to my car.
"So, I'm meeting your parents today?"
I nodded, "They may be late home, but yes."
We got into the car and kept talking about what was going to happen tonight,
"I'm so nervous, y'know?"
"Heh, you don't need to be, don't worry."
I then remembered something, "Also my uncle is dropping by so you'll get to meet them."
"Oo! Cool!"
I plugged my aux cord and handed the phone to 'Tsumu, "Its your turn for music this weekend dear, please don't play The Bee Movie sound track the whole way home."
"Awh! You're lucky I love you Omi!"
He put on Shinedowns new album Amaryllis, so I was happy.
"Nice song choice."
Tsumu rested my hand on top of mine which was already resting on his thigh.
"Do you want me to stop and get coffee or something? Or do you wanna head straight to my place?"
"Meh I had coffee earlier, we can head to your place."
"Oh you haven't been to my place before have you? It's always me visiting you."
"Yeah! That just makes me more excited!"
I smiled.
"Wait.. I NEED TO ASK FOR YOUR BABY PHOTOS!"
"NO!"
We finally pulled into the garage of the apartment complex and exited the car. When we entered the lobby Atsumu spoke up, "This is a really nice looking place."
"Yeah my folks make good money so we have a good sized apartment." I explained as we walked to the elevator
I hit the '8' button and waited till the doors re-opened, we exited as an elderly couple entered and walked to the apartment as the numbers went up across the doors, 801, 802, 803, 804... Finally we reached the apartment, with the silver plaque reading 810. I twisted the key and was instantly greeted by Snow and Makkachin. Makkachin was staying here just because Victor and Yuuri were in Russia and Makkachin was getting too old to travel, y'know, being 15 and all.
Atsumu instantly got down on his knees to give Snow head scratches, "Oh my god! You have dogs! Why didn't you tell me?!"
"Snow is my parents and Makkachin," I said pointing to the dogs as I mentioned them, "Is just staying here till my uncle comes to get them today."
"They're so pretty!"
"Mhm."
Me and Atsumu took off our shoes, I went to the kitchen, filled up the dogs bowls, washed my hands and then crashed on the couch.
Once Atsumu noticed my presence he laid his head on my lap "Your place is nice, Omi-Omi."
"Thanks."
"..Can I change positions so we can both be comfy?" I asked
Atsumu nodded and sat up so I could lay down, Atsumu then laid onto my chest, listening to my breathing and heart beat.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
-10 minutes later-
After we laid there and watched tv for a bit, I heard a knock on the door, "That must be my uncle." Atsumu shot up, and followed me to the door.
When I opened it, I saw my uncle, Nikiforov-Katsuki Yuuri and his husband Victor standing to his left. Once they took a step in the door Makkachin came bolting towards them
"Makkachin! My baby!" Victor called out as he lifted Makkachin into his arms.
Atsumu stood in surprise for a minute while I talked to them. Does he know that they're famous figure skaters? No, I think his twin brother Osamu and his team captain Kita are into that stuff.
"So, before you go I want you to meet someone," I started, I gestured to my boyfriend as I spoke, "This is my boyfriend, Atsumu Miya."
Yuuri smiled and shook his hand, "Its a pleasure to meet you, Atsumu."
After Victor did the same they turned to leave before Atsumu spoke up, "Wait! Can I get your autographs? My captain and brother are big figure skating fans and they would kill me if I passed this up."
Victor and Yuuri laughed and nodded, "Sure! We'd love to!"
Victor and Yuuri signed the autograph to Osamu and wrote below it, "Your brothers cool!" and the one to Kita with "The best captain ever! Kita!"
"Thank you."
"Of course! Your family now after all!"
After we said our goodbyes, Yuuri and Victor left me and my boyfriend alone again. I looked at Atsumu, grabbed his hand and we walked back over to the couch to watch tv while Snow slept on her bed near us. Atsumu kept insisting that we watch Gilmore Girls until I finally gave in and we ended up binging to season 3.
"I'm telling you! Luke is the best!"
"Aand why do you think that?"
I shrugged, "Meh Lorelai is better."
"No!"
We kept bickering like children for a few minutes before I pulled my lover in for a kiss, that managed to shut him up. But his red face was too cute to not kiss over, and over, and over again. So that's exactly what I did.
"A kiss here." I said giving a kiss on his cheek, "And a kiss for the other side," "A kiss here," "And a kiss here,"
"Omiiiiiiii~"
I laughed, stopping my kissing spree after I kissed every spot on his face, "I love you."
"I love you more, baby dearest."
I smiled, "Just call me baby or dear. Baby dearest sounds weird."
"Awh but its cute!"
Snow barked as they awoke from their nap
"See? Even snow agrees that its cute!"
I looked over at Snow with a deadpan look, "Really? I know you like my boyfriend because he gave you belly rubs, but, really?"
--When Seung-gil and Phichit got home--
I was too focused on the snoring Atsumu on my chest to hear the clicking of the front door, the removal of shoes, or the hanging of keys. It was only when I was a flash off a camera did I know that my parents saw my boyfriend laying on my lap.
My dad started rapidly typing on his phone, "Seung-gil! Get in here! This is adorable!"
The black haired Korean walked into the room, "Phichit, lets let them relax and get dinner started ok?"
"OK!" After that, Seung-gil was walking to the kitchen and Phichit speed walking to keep up.
After a few more minutes Atsumu woke up from his nap with a yawn, "Hey Omi-kun."
"Good morning dear."
I started petting his head when spoke, "Did your parents come home?"
"Mhm."
"WAIT WHAT?!"
"Shh.. I just wanted you to sleep, its fine."
"..OK."
Then I heard a gasp from the kitchen
"SEUNG-GIL! SAKUSAS BOYFRIEND IS AWAKE!"
My dads had came peaking out from the corner 2 seconds later, "Atsumu, this is my dad."
The cheerful boy sat up and shook my dads hand, "Hi, I'm Atsumu Miya."
"Im Phichit Lee."
"Hold on im gonna go get your other dad." My dad said before leaving the room to go grab his husband.
"Wait... YOU HAVE TWO DADS AND YOU DIDNT TELL ME?!"
"You never asked."
"Humph." Atsumu huffed, turning his head.
"Oh come on.. Look at me dear."
"Nu!"
"I'll let you see baby pictures of me later." I offered.
"..."
I sighed and grabbed his hand, "We'll go get fatty tuna tomorrow with Kimori and his boyfriend."
Atsumu head perked up, "Yes! I love you!"
After that, my dad came in the room with my other dad, "My name is Seung-Gil Lee." He greeted before shaking Atsumu's hand.
After that we sat down at the dinner table, with me and Atsumu on one side and my parents on the other.
"So how long have you two been together?" Phichit asked
"Since our first year of Highschool." I answered
My dads smile grew, "Wait! Are we the first ones in the family to know?!"
"Nah, Uncle Leo and Guang-Hong know."
He gasped dramatically and put a hand on his chest, "My own squad betraying me like that, so tragic~"
"Also heres a question." Atsumu started
"Yes?"
"Whos your favorite character in Gilmore Girls?"
"Luke." Seung-Gil said
This caused my dad to look at him with bewilderment, "Am I just getting betrayed tonight?! Lorelai is SO much better!"
"Nope."
After we finished eating we went to the living room and chatted.
"So what happened at practice?"
"Oh I got a story," Seung-gil started, putting his cup down.
"So you know how me and your dad are skating on the same rink as the Russian team till our rink gets redone?"
"Yes?"
"So apparently Georgi is dating that one French skater."
"Which one?"
"Jean.. Douche? Y'know that Akaashi boys dad."
That comment made Atsumu nearly spit out his drink, Phichit's dark eyes went wide, "Are you ok?!"
"Yeah, my best friends just dating Akaashi so it was just surprising that he's part French."
"Wait, I thought Oikawa was your best friend?"
"I have multiple best friends, Omi."
"Anyway, so, I heard that Kimori got a boyfriend~"
"Phichit, dear, love of my life, please don't tell me your using your sisters kids life as blackmail."
"Why wouldn't I?"
"Yeah he does." I answered
"Do you have photos?!"
"Dad, I wouldn't be your child if I didn't have blackmail."
I quickly pulled up a photo and showed it to my dads,
(Here's the photo, credit to the artist)
And with that my dad started gushing over the photo, "Awh! Thats so cute!"
"Speaking of cute, do you have Sakusa's baby photos?"
"Oh you bet I do!"
For the next half an hour they looked at baby photos.
Once Atsumu got ready to leave, he asked for a final thing, "Can I get your autographs? My captain and twin brother love figure skating and you two are some of their favorites."
They nodded and signed the papers, and with that, I gave Atsumu a kiss on the cheek and he left.

YOI fanfic recommendations: Historical AUs
There’s a surprising number of Historical AUs for Victuuri/YOI on ao3. I haven’t read them all, and there’re still unfinished historical AUs in my to read. I decided to just go ahead and share the post as it is and eventually make a second post, or a reblog with additions. In this post I will focus on those that are only historical AUs, and primarily based on our world (meaning I won’t name fics that also have timetravel/fantasy/etc. elements, or made up countries, those deserve a separate post).
The order in which I name the fics goes by oldest to youngest in terms of historical setting. The fics I marked with *** fall into the category of heavy angst / are a heavy read.
I’m sorry for not going into detail about what I loved about them or leave comments here, because I’m trying to keep the post’s length under control. All of these fics deserve a commentary and a detailed recommendation post of their own, but that wouldn’t be managable for me timewise.
Please share this post (and the love), so more people can see the recommendations. Also if you start reading some of these, please consider leaving the writers Kudos and maybe even a comment. We writers love feeling recognised and cherished! It motivates us to write on ♡ Also this is a hecking long post, so you’ll find them under the cut.

Hey!!! So I was wondering if you could please rec some fics where they both get into an argument? Most fics I read only deal with the angst leading upto the relationship, and not so much the struggles after that so I was wondering if you knew any good ones :) thank you! Also - I've been using your fic recs for a while especially during quarantine and they are all 10/10 I've found sooo many new favourites!!!
Hey nonnie, I'm glad this blog is helpful to you especially in these times. And yay for my taste in fics suiting yours as well! I looove the fics I rec and I'd love for other people to read these amazing stories too (esp the not so famous ones)!
As for your request, here are some Victuuri fics, both in canon and AU settings, that have that conflicts-in-an-established-relationship theme (though some also have that pre-relationship angst):
A Silhouette of Three by Anna (arctic_grey @finleighsaid [E, 21K]
Yuuri and Viktor are aiming for a third consecutive Grand Prix gold as the new skating season rolls around. Halfway through the qualifiers, however, Yuuri realises that he's pregnant. He can either tell Viktor, who he knows would freak out and demand that he withdraw from the Grand Prix, or he can keep his mouth shut, keep his mate at bay, and win the gold that he's worked so hard for.
Easier said than done.
Beside the Dancing Sea by lily_winterwood / @omgkatsudonplease [E, 186K]
He’s finally here in this lovely and quiet little beach cottage, and the rest of the year seems to stretch out infinitely before him. Time will pass, though, and it will pass faster than he realises, but in the meantime he will stop worrying about writer’s block and deadlines and not even having the foggiest clue what his next novel’s going to be about, and live.
New York Times-bestselling author Viktor Nikiforov arrives in the sleepy seaside town of Torvill Cove to cure his writer's block. After encountering local wallflower Yuuri Katsuki at a party, he discovers that this mysterious dark-haired man has a couple secrets up his sleeve.
And Viktor will be damned if he doesn't find out just what those secrets are.
Four Weddings & A Divorce Lawyer by @lucycamui [E, 107K]
Living in the big city, Victor is a successful divorce lawyer and Yuuri runs a custom wedding cake shop. Their worlds and world views collide when they meet at an engagement party, but any time a cynic and a dreamer fall in love a few cakes are bound to get smashed along the way.
from both sides by @sophia-helix [G, 608 words]
But it's quiet when he comes to their door, resting slightly ajar. Yuri doesn't knock, because no one ever does, but he finds himself pushing it open slowly, hesitant as he pokes his head inside.
Hold Me Tight by @smudgesofink [T, 11K]
Katsuki Yuuri is not a tactile man. Anyone who’s spent a minute with him can tell you that much.
Victor, however—
To say that Victor is touchy-feely is the understatement of the century.
So when Victor just stops touching Yuuri, without explanation, without reason, it makes for a painfully jarring experience.
(Alternatively titled: Five Times Victor Hugs Yuuri, and the One Time He Doesn't)
i have my body (and you have yours) by @astoryaboutwar [M, 8K]
Yuuri overflows with the weight of things that have been said, trembles with what remains.
Their shared zeroes flicker in time, the early morning light muting the red glow to faint numbers. In the amber dawn, an idol is only just a man.
(Or: the Soulmate Timers AU where things happen out of order, secrets are kept, revelations are had, and they arrive where they need to be in the end.)
long distance series by @thewalrus-said [G and E, 18K]
Summary of first fic:
Viktor,
I dithered so long on just the opening to this letter, did you know that? Specifically, whether I should open with ‘Dear.’ Are you my dear? Have we shared enough to be dear to each other? You were my dear that night, of that I am sure. I believe I even said it. “My dear,” I called you, and you smiled like the sun in response.
my love is yours to hold (through every high and every low) by colorfullysarah / @ofviktor [M, 24K] *WIP
Memories are fickle things, Viktor and Yuuri knew this long before one night changed everything two months before their wedding. It’s easy to forget to grab the milk while out grocery shopping or which street that new restaurant they wanted to try was on. And it’s even easier to forget the world can be unkind when their hearts flutter with happiness.
What they never imagined was love could be forgotten in a single heartbeat.
…
Or, there’s an accident. Memories are lost and years pass before they’re found again.
This is what happens after.
The Next Level by @azriona [E, 369K]
The skating season continues (as skating seasons are wont to do), while Victor and Yuuri negotiate the shifts in their relationship, their careers, and their home rink.
Sometimes, things even go as planned.
Undiscovered Country by @shysweetthing [E, 114K]
Yuuri wakes up in Victor’s room the night after the Sochi Grand Prix Final banquet. Did they sleep together? No. Instead, last night, Drunk Yuuri taunted Victor that he hadn’t earned the right to get in his pants…and spelled out exactly what Victor would have to do to get there.
Now, Victor intends to do everything on that list…
~
“The conversation,” Victor says, “went something like this. You said I wasn’t getting in your pants that easily.”
Victor says this in a normal tone of voice. Anyone could hear him. Yuuri looks around, but if anyone is paying attention, they’re pretending not to.
“Naturally, I asked what I would have to do to get in your pants.”
“Ah.” Yuuri blushes. “How embarrassing. What do you mean, naturally? Why would you ask that?”
Victor tilts his head. “Because I want to get in your pants. I thought that much was obvious by now.”
Zanka by rinsled05 / @dreaming-fireflies [E, 100K]
Aoyagi's lips parted in a sigh, and for a brief second, Viktor saw a wistful expression beneath the fine-edged veneer – fleeting and transient as a cherry blossom in bloom. There was so much unspoken that Viktor wanted, now more than ever, to take the man with him. Bring him home and far away from this glittering world of luxury and waste.
Victuuri historical AU in 1800s, Edo, Japan. Yuuri is Aoyagi, a high-ranking male courtesan, and Viktor falls hopelessly in love.
And you might have already checked them out but I'd like to remind that the post-canon fics in the thematic masterlist are also relevant.
As always, other recs are welcome! :)

It’s Billy, boys.
I originally wrote this quite some time ago as a part of chapter 30 but I decided I didn’t need it so it’s bonus content now, I guess. This happens right at the beginning of 30 before Victor gets a call from Phichit. Since this didn’t make it to the final draft, the editing is really lazy. I’m honestly only posting this to get out of working on the next few chapters lol. Also, Billy is definitely a trip, I know. Anyways, without further ado...
Victor had no clue if Yuuri was Red Specter or not. He was exactly where he started. It didn’t change the fact that Red Specter was still very real, no matter who he was beneath the mask which meant that if he couldn’t come up with a satisfactory offer by midnight, it was likely that History Maker would get hit. This was his last (and only) bet, he realized as he got off the elevator a floor below Yakov’s office. This floor, the Artillery and Design floor, always smelled like singed fabric because it was where the super suits were made… but it still didn’t account for the burning smell. Billy, a man with round pink cheeks, a long green mohawk, and coke bottle glasses looked up when the glass doors slid open for Victor. Billy beamed and cheered like a redneck on the fourth of July when he saw Victor.
“Victor Torch! Just the tight assed hero I was looking for!”
“Billy,” Victor greeted him and the other cheering technicians with a nod. “Is it ready?”
“You bet your wintry butthole, it is,” Billy said and beckoned him closer with a finger. They walked to the back of the lab, passing metal tables and clunky equipment, all of it glinting with a futuristic sheen as he passed. Some of the technicians were bent over sheets of fabric that seemed to be radiating electricity—it made Victor tingle in the strangest way as he passed, while a few of them made alterations to suits that were actually familiar to him. He guessed Spotlight tore their suit recently, when he saw a squat little technician pushing a button on a giant sewing machine for the all too familiar pink ensemble.
“It’s back here,” Billy said, “for safekeeping.”
“I appreciate that,” Victor said.
“It’s in good condition,” he commented as he stopped at a long, dark, glass wall at the very back of the lab. He punched in a few codes on a keypad. A rectangle of light appeared a little ways away from them and Billy led him to it. “You were careful, even back then,” he complimented Victor as he took a little remote out of his lab coat pocket. The rectangle of light was actually a door behind the glass, a door to a small closet with a revolving rack. In front was a prototype of Victor’s current suit: black, sleek, and shimmery. Billy clicked his remote and the rack spun around to show the suit Victor had worn two years ago. It was similar, but royal blue instead of black. He kept clicking, letting the suits spin by, each of them taking an era with them as they went. He cringed at a fuschia one with lapels—he was feeling a bit melodramatic then.
“It’s always been a pleasure designing for you, Winter Nikiforov, because you’re not just a man of justice, you’re a man of art. A renaissance man,” he kissed his fingers, “you get me.”
“I always have,” Victor smiled, lying.
“Heeeere we goooo,” he sang as they found the suit Victor wanted. He thought it would fit Red since he was much younger when he first wore this. Red was smaller than him. It was black which fit his MO… he tilted his head, unsure as he took in the swaths of revealing mesh across the chest, the sparkling crystals on the shoulders and hips. It was sturdy, he knew that for a fact, and very well made because Billy made it himself. But it wasn’t exactly low-key. Heroes never dressed to blend in.
And it was a bit…risque. He had to be honest. Even Chris’ suit wasn’t this suggestive and it was Chris. Victor was only nineteen when it was made, when he told Billy exactly what he wanted: something that would make his opponents uncomfortable. He was feeling cocky because he was starting hero training years before what was normal, and he was young… he felt free and invincible for the first time in seven years. It gave Yakov a heart attack at the time and even Lilia disapproved. In the end, Celestino convinced them to let Victor explore… He thought there were still some old newspapers somewhere with him wearing this on the front cover under scandalized headlines...
The fire was back, that sensation that he now recognized as a red light—a sign that something was off. He bit his lip. He shouldn’t think about Red in this suit, even if he was planning on offering it up. It didn’t matter what he looked like in it or what Red thought of it or anything that just crossed his mind, because the only thing that mattered was protecting History Maker.
There was no mask. That was what was missing. That’s why he felt weird picturing Red in it. Of course he’d feel this way trying to imagine Red Specter’s face… it was confusing, disconcerting, uncomfortable, nerve-wracking, all those things...
“Billy…”
“M’lady?”
“Have you ever considered… making a mask for this?”
“Are we talking Robin style with just the eyes, or are you thinking more of a Batman-exposed-chin thing, or like a full faced Red Specter deal, because the answer is yes, Snowflake. Yes, I have considered making a mask for all of your suits. Why don’t you step into my office?”
“Uh.”
“Just…” he said awkwardly as if he had just realized the entire lab was his office, “look at this.” He pulled out his phone and opened a few files. He scrolled through digital scans of sketches he’d made, all very impressive, and then actual prototypes that Victor was interested in for himself. Of course, his ability gave him the power to disguise his face easily so he didn’t need a mask but… he still kind of wanted one now that he was looking.
Focus. He wasn’t clothes shopping (unfortunately). He was completing a potentially life saving transaction. He pointed at a full mask with crystals elegantly crowning the area where the wearer’s hairline would be. “You already made this one?”
“You betcha.”
“I like it.”
“Roger dodger,” he whistled a tune and pushed a blue button on his remote. The revolving rack disappeared into the closet ceiling, pushed out by another rack. This one carried pieces that Victor either changed his mind about or ones that Billy started but lost interest in, scraps of abandoned ideas. He clicked the remote so that the rack whirled around until they got to the mannequin heads, some bare and others wearing masks that Victor had never seen until now. Billy pointed a remote at one.
“Look good to you?”
“Yes,” Victor said, because it did, although he wasn’t sure Red would appreciate something so flashy. Especially not since the thief seemed to gather fashion inspiration from the shadows under his bed. Well, if he didn’t like the design, he could have it altered. What mattered was that it was nano-tech and made with pure Pandora’s Iron. “I’ll take it,” he said.
“Okey doke, will that be debit or credit, sir?” Billy chuckled at his own joke as he pressed a button to make the glass doors protecting the closet open. He reached up and gingerly removed the mask from the mannequin. “Isabellaaaaaa!” He shouted over his shoulder and a young mousy looking girl came scuttling around a corner.
“Sir?” She squeaked.
“Can you please get a box for me? Big enough for a suit?”
“Yes, sir,” she nodded frantically and squeezed her eyes shut. Victor heard a soft whoosh sound and when he looked up, he saw a large white box soaring above him. It glided gracefully down next to Billy who thanked her before she scampered away. Billy neatly packed the suit under the mask before sealing it and handing it over to Victor.
“Merry Christmas, baby boy,” he crooned.
“Thank you,” Victor said with an impressively straight face. He’d been practicing since he was sixteen, though Billy had gotten progressively more… Billy as Victor grew older.
“I’m curious. Is this for Yuri?”
“I—what?!”
“I mean, I don’t really mind if you give it to the little furball because he’s kind of family and we all put up with him but I’m concerned about the whole… accountability thing with Yakov and the red tape and the chain of command is a whole thing—”
“Ah—oh, you mean Yuri Plisetsky…” Victor groaned, dragging his hand down his face.
“Uh… how many Yuri’s are there? Oh!” He snapped his fingers, “that hot doctor from your Instagram! My girlfriend loves him! He’s got this kind of secret-sexy-vixen-by-night-and-sad-puppy-by-day vibe going and it drives her wild. She stalks him like he’s an insta famous kitten or something,” he said with a tone of pride Victor found strange.
“He’s not a doctor, and...no,” he shook his head, “It’s not for Yuri P. I just want it for... nostalgia’s sake.”
Billy nodded thoughtfully, rubbing his chin. Then he slapped both his hands on Victor’s shoulders, startling him, “That’s so weird. Have fun!” He called for Isabella again as he left Victor, getting straight back to work.
He thanked all the technicians on his way out and took the elevator down to the first floor so he could wait in the lobby. He plopped down in a chair and set the box on the floor beside him.

Chapter 1: Dragon Yuuri AU
The Last Dragon: Flight by satbiym
Word Count: 2.2K, Chapters: 1/?, Warnings: None
Written for prompt 95 of @wewritevictuuri “There’s no going back if we do this.”
Summary:
Beware traveller, for here be dragons…”
I sure fucking hope so, Victor thought as he pushed open the door to the fenced off caves.
Upon being commissioned to make a serious documentary on dragons by a rich tycoon; famous scientist, Victor Nikiforov was determined to rise to challenge and overcome all barriers that stood in his way; even if one of those barriers was the fact that dragons didn’t technically exist.
A rumour of a so-called dragon skeleton has Victor rushing to film the results, only, the skeleton brings more questions than answers. Every scientist worth their salt knows not to bias their results with personal opinions, but...
Dragons aren’t real, right?
Although, the blue dragon in front of him is pretty convincing evidence to the contrary.
Continuation of a fic originally written for the @isekaiyoizine
Read it on AO3 or below!
No creature above all others has haunted our imagination, on land and in the air, like the dragon.
Dragons have left their mark in the folklore of our ancestors, but what if these fantastic stories were more than myth?
What if the legends of these magnificent creatures were true…
--------------------------------------------------------------
The locals called Hasetsu 'inauspicious', steering clear of it and making sure it remained undisturbed by both man and machine. Unfortunately, the advent of progress and the greed of man waits for none, and eventually, eyes turned towards Hasetsu to satisfy the need for more, more, more.
They laughed off the warnings of the locals and dismissed their stories as ramblings of the uneducated, for who else would cite folklore as reason enough to throw away potentially millions of dollars in real estate?
Palms were greased, permits were signed and companies were hired to build the next iteration of the future.
The engineers responsible for construction expected to find only overgrown flora and fauna, something they knew how to handle. But what they didn't expect was to find themselves right in the middle of a centuries-old crime scene.
The Chief Engineer took off his hard-hat and resisted the urge to curse as the smell of vomit mixed with the already putrid smell of human remains. This project had just gotten a lot more complicated.
--------------------------------------------------------------
This is the story of a unique family that survived from the time of the dinosaur to make a final stand four hundred years ago, a scientific exploration of a remarkable species...
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Victor Nikiforov, you have been the face of Paleontology and are considered one of the most important scientists of this millenium. We are curious - what do you think about when you're in the field, trying to discover something?" The talk-show show asked, as the children around them, visible even though the bright stage lights, screamed their approval.
Victor smiled a bit and straightening his glasses, said, "To be honest, Ellen, I try not to predict what I might find as this might taint my results and may even make me unable to see what's right there in front of my eyes, simply because it didn't fit with my worldview. I prefer to choose science over emotions in that sense."
Ellen laughed, sounding delighted, and chimed, "There you have it, folks! From the mouth of one of the best scientists in recent history! Don't taint the results!"
"Well that, and remember kids, the only difference between science and messing around is..." Victor said, lilting and urging.
"Writing it down!" the audience shouted back.
"Beautiful!" Ellen said, miming wiping away a tear, "You are all wonderful scientists! And with that we take a break before we come back and Victor here will show us how to properly excavate during a dig and who knows what we'll find there..."
Victor kept smiling as commercials rolled and the makeup artist came over to refresh his look, silently handing over a tissue to Victor's murmured thanks.
"The lights, huh?"
Victor looked over at Ellen and huffed out a wry laugh, "Yeah, even after doing this for five years, my eyes still tear up."
Leaning forward, she said, "Well, despite them, you did a wonderful job today. But now that the cameras are off, I am curious about something…"
Forcing his smile from stilting, Victor quirked an eyebrow and gave her a nod to go ahead, affecting curiosity despite knowing the question.
"I guess, what I really want to know is - what can we expect next from Victor Nikiforov?" Ellen asked, unaware of the dread pooling in Victor's gut.
Victor hummed, as if considering the question, and with a tone that belied the reality that this very question had lead to many sleepless nights, said, "To be honest, I don't know myself. My field is highly dependent on nature, and nature is the most imaginative creator of them all. You could either try to constrain it by leasing it like a wild horse or make sure you've held on tight and enjoy the ride. Personally, I prefer allowing myself to be surprised. It's more fun that way."
"And make sure you don't fall off, yeah?" Ellen asked mischievously, shattering the ice around Victor's throat.
Victor laughed, and nodded, "Oh, yeah, that too."
Ellen shook her head, amused, "Ever the diplomat. Fine. Keep your secrets, Victor Nikiforov, I guess I'll just have to wait, like the rest, for your next act."
--------------------------------------------------------------
… This is the natural history of the most extraordinary creature that never existed.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Victor resisted the urge to fidget as the helicopter began its descent, he hadn't expected to wake up this morning to a message from the office of the CEO of Paladin Ventures requesting his presence at his earliest availability. Considering Paladin Ventures was responsible for his current multi-million dollar grant that enabled him to continue his research while maintaining his freedom from the leashes of academia…
Let's just say, Victor's earliest availability was suddenly a lot sooner than it had been yesterday.
And if the haste with which the helicopter had been sent over at his acquiescence, the media mogul who was responsible for more than half the world's research funding in areas like paleontology, history and restoration, was just as eager to meet him.
Victor could feel his stomach twist, a sensation that only visited him whenever he was on the cusp of something life-changing, he had a feeling that this meeting was going to be the answer he had been looking for.
"We're here, sir. The Paladin is waiting for you." The pilot said, pointing outside, where a seemingly ordinary man stood, smile visible even from the helicopter.
The man waved on seeing them, and ran towards them, opening the chopper's door before anyone else could and shouted over the noise of the blades.
"There you are, Victor! I have a mission for you and it's all our dreams come true!"
--------------------------------------------------------------
As a kid, I was mad about dragons;
Dragons from the high seas, flying dragons from Greenland, fire-breathing dragons from Europe and here's the thing that got me, these myths came from all over the world, right? From cultures that could never have met and yet from the Andes to the Himalayas you could hear stories of dragons and…
Here's a kid's best guess, the only way that's possible is if the stories were real.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Victor, seated in a helicopter for the second time in 24 hours, was still reeling from the information he had received, been commanded to verify and document.
They've found something, in Japan. Something the Japanese government is very hush-hush about, but I was able to finagle a first look at. Of course, if it turns out to be a hoax… but anyway! If it is what the rumours say it is… well then, it would all have been worth it. I need you to go and bring back all you find.
Victor closed his eyes, when he remembered the fanatic and helpless excitement on the Paladin's face, like this was the break he had been looking for.
But, empathy or not, Victor couldn't see how what the Paladin had told him could possibly be true. There was just no way that-
"Do you believe the story the Richie Rich's trying to sell us, Baldie?" a voice said, aggressive in intent and content.
Eyeing the pilot who was still focused on flying, thank god, Victor smiled and lightly said, "Nature isn't constrained by our imagination, Yura. Remember-"
"Yeah, yeah," Yuri asserted derisively before laying a hand on his chest and as if reciting an oft-repeated phrase, "Don't predict what you might find as this might taint the results yada, yada, yada. Yes. I've heard the press spiel, Victor, but you cannot tell me you seriously believe him?! All rich people have their eccentricities. His is just sending us on a pointless goose chase."
Victor laughed lightly, "Why Yura, I didn't know you watched my interviews!"
Despite the rage emanating from Yuri's silence, Victor, from the backseat, could see the way Yuri's ears went red.
"You - shut up! You're insufferable! And impossible to avoid, you're everywhere, it's disgusting!" Yuri spluttered, ears still a bright cherry red.
Victor opened his mouth to parry back, but was cut off by a curt sound from the pilot. They turned, only to see a barren wasteland that looked as though it had been abandoned in a hurry, greet them welcome.
They had, it appeared, arrived in Hasetsu.
And by the uniformed person waiting for them, they had a welcoming party.
Victor got off the helicopter, but the noise and wind weren't enough to block out the first words from the person outside's mouth.
"I don't know what you're expecting to find here Dr. Nikiforov, but this ain't like your usual kind of dig."
Victor smiled wanly as Yuri cursed lowly behind him as he carried the equipment out of the helicopter, and stepped forward to shake the uniformed policeman's hand, replying "Thank you for your concern, but there is always something that can be learnt from every experience. What happened exactly?"
The policeman just shook his head, gesturing toward them to follow him, said "Then I'm afraid, this is something you need to experience yourself to understand. I'm the Chief of Police around here, but even I haven't seen anything like this. Come on then, might as well get right to it."
Bemused, Victor followed along, with a grumbling Yuri behind him.
As they walked into the forest, the trees becoming denser and more untouched by the machinations of the contractors, the Chief explained, "We told the higher-ups that this forest was cursed. For centuries no one has ventured up here, and we were right not to! For look what they found!"
Yuri sighed irritably, "You're trying to tell me that some centuries-old human remains were enough to warn an entire village off of the forest? You've got to be kidding me."
Victor sent Yuri a warning look, as the Police Chief shuddered, "It wasn't the human remains that were the problem, young man."
"Eh?" Yuri said, forehead beaded with sweat from carrying around the equipment under the hot sun, but the Chief wasn't willing to answer any further questions.
They walked into a forest that seemed almost regal in its staid dignity, sun filtering through the trees and the chirping of the birds. If it wasn't for Yuri's continued grumbling, Victor would have thought he had entered a whole new world. They walked deeper until the light of the sun was almost blocked by the overarching trees, forcing Victor to rely on his torch.
The ruins emerged from the trees, tall and proud, despite the weight of the years and beseeching weather.
Even Yuri couldn't stifle a gasp as they walked towards the almost palatial dwelling that the ruins seemed to be built around, the stones in the path glittering.
"What-" Yuri started to ask, before he gasped, almost dropping the equipment he was carrying.
Victor was distantly aware of the Chief praying beside him, but even the proximity of the noise couldn't make him turn his eyes away from the scene in front of him.
Dark marks surrounded the center dwelling, across the glittering paths, burning its way through the tens of hundreds of fallen human bodies on the ground.
But, that wasn't what gave them all pause.
It wasn't the human remains that were the problem, young man.
"Is that - What are that those?!" Yuri shrieked as he pointed at the other remains strewn around the dwelling.
Victor had always believed that nature could not be predicted or contained, but even he couldn't believe the sight in front of him: skeletons with bone structures he had never seen before, with the smallest one towering over them, as tall as a skyscraper and just as slim.
Victor slowly set his bag down to investigate further, only to have his arm be grabbed by Yuri.
"What do you think you're doing?" Yuri exclaimed, eyes wide.
"What I was sent here to do, Yura." Victor said gently.
"No! This isn't your job, this is- is- something neither one of us signed on for! It's unnatural!" Yuri said shrilly, still staring at the skeletons with a frantic look in his eyes.
"Yura." Victor said simply.
At that, Yuri seemed to remember himself, eyes losing their bewilderment, but he still clutched Victor's arm tighter, unwilling to let go.
"Yura." Victor tried again, and said evenly, "We are scientists. It is our responsibility to make sense of the seemingly unnatural. Even if it means that our lives will never be the same again, we must move forward and tell the story that is true and not just the story we want to hear. Now, I am going to figure this out, I cannot promise what we'll find, but… if you want, you may take the helicopter back home if you so choose."
Yuri for the first time since they'd seen them, looked away from the skeletons, and back at Victor, studying his face for a moment before shaking his head and ruefully murmuring, "There's no going back if we do this, is there?"
Victor let his silence be Yuri's answer.
Yuri took a deep breath, released Victor's arm and with finality, nodded, "Alright then, let's see what we can dig up."

Yuri!!! On ice - On blood Part 11
I completely forgot that I once had the story published here XD But here’s part 11 for you that don’t follow my AO3!
Victor couldn’t help but to watch Yuuri sleep. Seeing the deep breathing of the human he loved filled him with so much peace and calm.
Yuuri was beautiful when he slept, his face was so soft and pretty.
Victor had to stop himself from touching it. He really wanted to brush the human’s hair aside.
It was bad enough that he was watching Yuuri as he slept, he really didn’t want to overstep any other boundaries and scare him.
Yuuri was defenseless in his sleep, and Victor would be a monster if he took advantage of that, even if it was such a simple action as just touching his hair.
They were still figuring out their relationship, so it would be best if he kept some distance. At least for now.
So Victor reluctantly got up from his favorite chair and started walking downstairs where he could continue to watch his favorite TV show while he waited for Yuuri to wake up.
He just sat down in the couch when his phone suddenly vibrated.
Victor took up his phone and noticed that it was a message from one of his old friends.
Old, old friends.
Elizabeth, the alpha vampire he used to date hundreds of years ago. She was apparently going to Russia and wanted to meet him.
Victor contemplated his answer for several moments.
He couldn’t decline the offer, she was an alpha vampire and it was important to get along with all alpha vampires.
But he also wanted to make it clear that it wasn’t a date.
He wasn’t sure of Elizabeth’s feelings for him, she had always displayed in interest that Victor had never been able to reciprocate.
And now he was in love with Yuuri.
A human.
Victor sighed tiredly as he realized what a hassle it would be to explain his feelings to all the other alpha vampires.
They would never understand.
Whenever they found interest in a human, they immediately turned them to omega vampires and kept them as pets for their own amusement.
Victor couldn’t do that.
He never wanted to take Yuuri’s life away, he wanted to see him live life to the fullest.
If Yuuri would ever ask him to be turned and really mean it, it would be an entire different situation.
But he would never turn him without his approval.
Yuuri deserved to live in whatever way he choose.
So the safest thing would be to keep his relationship with Yuuri a secret.
Victor made up his mind that he would see her on friendly terms, and keep her far away from Yuuri.
He wrote to her and got a response immediately.
Elizabeth would see him at ‘their’ spot tomorrow night.
She was probably talking about the bridge overlooking the ocean, where they had their last kiss.
Now he only needed a good way of telling Yuuri about it.
Telling his fiancé that he would see his ex might bring a lot of worries to their relationship.
Hopefully Yuuri would trust him.
…………………………………….
Yuuri woke up to the sound of his alarm. His body felt heavy as he fumbled after his phone.
He finally got ahold of it and turned the alarm off, he then stared up into the darkness for several moments before remembering where he was.
In Victor’s apartment.
He was just about to reach for the lamp button when light started flooding the room and the thick drapes on the window pulled to the side, leaving the room flowing with daylight.
“Rise and shine,” Victor sang from the other side of the door. “I’ve made you breakfast.”
Yuuri quickly put on his glasses. His sleepiness was completely forgotten as curiosity got the better of him.
He didn’t know that Victor could cook.
Vampires didn’t eat food, so he had no idea why he would ever learn the skill.
Yuuri put on his slippers as he walked out of the bedroom and was once again reminded of the ridiculous size of the vampire’s apartment.
He might be able to explore it today, if Victor allowed him to. Yuuri didn’t want to find any skeletons in Victor’s closets. Who knew what secrets an ancient vampire might hide?
“Did you sleep well?” Victor asked from the kitchen as Yuuri walked down the staircase.
“I did,” Yuuri assured as he looked out the window.
It was daytime. Probably… It looked like daytime.
Those windows were very strange.
“I’m glad,” Victor said as he made the table for Yuuri.
“Can I help?” Yuuri asked carefully.
He didn’t want to step on any toes, but he didn’t want Victor to feel like a servant.
“I’d like to spoil you if you don’t mind?” Victor asked. “It’s the first time in a long time that I’ve had a guest.”
“Oh, okay,” Yuuri agreed, shifting his weight between his feet anxiously.
Victor pulled out a chair and looked to Yuuri expectantly. “Would you like to take a seat?”
Yuuri blushed as he made his way to the chair and sat down, allowing Victor to play out this morning in his own way.
He didn’t hate being spoiled. It was actually quite nice, but he was slightly worried about Victor and whether or not he was doing it for a reason.
The vampire seemed a little nervous, something Yuuri hadn’t seen before.
Victor was always full of confidence, so this had to mean that something was wrong.
“Did you have a good night?” Yuuri asked carefully. “I’m sorry I fell asleep so soon…”
“You don’t need to apologize for that,” Victor said as if it was obvious. “I had a good night, I caught up on some TV.”
“I’m glad,” Yuuri said with a soft smile.
Victor smiled back. “Did you have any dreams?” he asked curiously.
Yuuri shook his head. “Sorry.”
“It’s fine,” Victor assured, smile never faltering. “I’m just glad you’re well-rested.”
“I know you like hearing about them,” Yuuri pointed out.
“I do,” Victor admitted. “But it’s not like you can choose whether or not to dream.”
Yuuri ruled out that Victor was upset or worried about him and tried to prod a little more. “Should we go skating tonight?” he asked. “Or do you have other plans?”
Victor froze. “Do you want honey in your tea?” he asked instead. “In Russia it’s tradition to put jam in it, I’ve never tried it myself, but I hear it’s very good.”
“Is everything okay?” Yuuri asked worriedly.
“Why wouldn’t I be okay?” Victor quipped.
Yuuri blinked in confusion. “Just…”
“Do you know who you should visit today? Yura,” Victor declared. “He has his own apartment here in Saint Petersburg, I’m sure he would love to show it to you.”
Yuuri knew it.
He had done something terrible in his sleep and Victor wanted him out.
“Oh,” Yuuri said dejectedly. “I… I guess.”
“Don’t be sad,” Victor pleaded as he noticed Yuuri’s mood dropping. “What did I say?”
Yuuri swallowed down his sadness. “Nothing, I… I’m fine,” he lied. “I’ll text him.”
Victor nodded as he felt guilt weigh down on him. Yuuri seemed to be sad for something he said but attempted to hide it. It probably meant that he needed to come out with the truth. He couldn’t allow Yuuri to be sad because of a misunderstanding.
“Yuuri, I… I have something I need to tell you,” Victor admitted.
Yuuri braced himself for the next words that meant he needed to go back to Japan. He just wished he had made a better impression.
“I have to meet an old friend tonight,” Victor admitted, searching Yuuri’s eyes for a reaction.
Yuuri felt momentarily lost. He wasn’t sure what he meant by that. It really wasn’t what he expected to hear. “Oh, okay… Uhm, what friend?”

The Sliding Tiger: Part Three
Read Part 2 HERE Now where the heck is Yuri from? Why is he so chipper about all of this? Otabek learns more about his strange companion.
When it came to music, Otabek knew he had it down. Once he and Yuri were in the car and ready to drive he already had songs and even mixes in mind, but he could only do so much while driving. The car had a good CD changer in it however and he knew which CD might make the mysterious blonde feel just plain awesome, and within seconds Yuri had flown for the volume control to crank it up.
"Hell yea!" he was yelling out the window as they got back on the road nearing early evening. "Forget doing this down the streets of Zarvad!"
Otabek just laughed and drove. He knew getting some food in Yuri was important as well as stopping and figuring shit out, but he still didn't stop at the first cafe he saw. He kept going - Yuri was all smiles, all fun, sticking his hand out the window of the car and letting his fingers ride in the air as it whooshed on by. For someone who had come from Spain and mysteriously woken naked in Russia, he was handling it all oddly well.
It wasn't like Otabek was going to complain about that though and so he told his mind not to dwell on it.
When they did stop, it was at a large place outside of the destination town. Otabek had no idea what Yuri might like so he chose a restaurant that looked like general foodfare. "Here work?" he asked, parking the car.
"Mm! Actual Russian food - PIROSHKI!" he shouted suddenly and it made Otabek startle. "Oh fuck, Piroshki! It's been so many years!"
Otabek blinked. He had piroshki often and it didn't seem that special. "Um...?"
"We have to check the menu first. If there's no piroshki we go somewhere else," Yuri said, shooting a fierce look at Otabek.
Another person may have withered, but Otabek found it amusing and he agreed. "Fine, fine. Let's-"
"I'll check and come get you!" Yuri threw off his seatbelt and opened the door so fast he nearly banged it against the side of the blue car next to them. He bolted out and Otabek was staring after him.
It may have been a smart idea to go after him, but instead Otabek checked his phone. He needed to know if Viktor had any ideas and luckily there was a message waiting for him:
'Plisetsky? Sounds familiar. I don't know from where, though. Why?'
'I think I knew someone with that name in Yakov's training camp. I ran across someone else who went and the name came up.' That was technically truthful. 'Would you ask Yakov if he knew a Yuri Plisetsky?'
He had time to ask that and then there was knocking on his window. He turned to see Yuri was all smiles, which likely meant piroshki. Otabek nodded and unbuckled his belt. He then proceeded to lean across the passenger seat and pull Yuri's door closed, as it had just been left wide open.
When he opened his own door again to get out and give Yuri some shit, Yuri was already darting off again to the entrance of the place. Otabek could only hurry after him into the restaurant and eventually to a little booth table by the window.
They both ordered off the cluttered menu quickly. He had claimed not to be hungry, but Yuri sure could put away piroshki. He was on the food like a caged tiger on a fresh kill. Otabek tried not to stare but caught himself doing it anyway. It was a good thing that Yuri was too busy chowing down to notice.
Otabek let him keep going, eating slowly himself as he also scrolled on his phone. He was looking up Yuri's town to try and find information. If there was a missing person report he would need to know before they went any further. Yuri told him it was a town called Zarvad.
The problem was, he couldn't find a town called Zarvad anywhere in Spain. It was possible there was an error with the map he was using, but various internet searches were giving him nothing. His best guess was Yuri was muddled and couldn't quite get the name right. It occurred to Otabek that perhaps Yuri had a concussion.
When Yuri slowed down in his eating, Otabek addressed it. "Yuri, do you have a headache at all? Any of your body feel weird? I want to know if you might have a concussion."
Yuri shot him a confused look. "I feel okay. I don't think I hit my head, if that's what you're asking."
"Mmm, it pretty much is. You don't know how you got here and well...Yuri, I'm not finding this town you mentioned, Zarvad. I've been looking on my phone and I just can't find any trace of it. I thought maybe if you had injured your head, you gave the wrong name."
"No, it's Zarvad." Yuri sounded irritated. "Look, it's not my problem you're that bad with the internet."
Otabek ignored the snide comment. "There's also...you don't seem that disturbed for someone who lives in Spain but suddenly happened to wake up in Russia." He didn't want to think that Yuri was insane. That almost sounded like what he was suggestiong though so he braced for a tongue-lashing.
It didn't happen. "That's a fair statement." Yuri sipped at a glass of orange juice in thought. He then swirled his straw in it slowly before speaking. "I can't tell you how many times I hoped I would just...escape back here from Spain. I don't like it. The people who moved me there made it even more miserable. I wanted to be back here with my Grandpa. I fucking dreamed of waking up anywhere other than Zarvad."
The people who moved him... "Did you not live with your parents?"
"Foster system, adoption," Yuri hissed. "Couple of fools who took in myself and a couple of others because of how it might benefit them. Couldn't go to my Grandpa when they took me, and they took me and got the fuck out of town. Didn't have the means to get out even as an adult."
Otabek's heart fell. Somehow he hadn't expected that. He hadn't expected the young soldier to be put in such a position. "I see."
Yuri scowled. "Hey, don't. I don't want your pity, you're a stranger really. Do I look like I need pity? No, I need my real family and the cat I used to have."
"I'd say you need a fucking friend and here I am," Otabek shot back, pretending he wasn't impressed by Yuri's sharp tongue. The guy could easily stand up for himself.
"I-...shut up." Yuri suddenly was so quiet after being so direct, and he averted his gaze.
Otabek blinked, noticing a slight blush on his cheeks when his phone went off and he opened the message. He read it once, then again, and had to keep his reaction silent when it was near impossible. Viktor had replied: 'Yes, Yakov remembers this Yuri Plisetsky! He was extremely talented and I think maybe I did meet him. But one day he stopped showing up at the rink. Why are you asking this?'
He could answer in so many ways, but Otabek chose the most direct, and the easiest way to make sure poor Yuuri wasn't stuck with information he had to keep secret. 'I think I met him...talk to Yuuri for details so I can get back to driving soon'. Not that they were done yet, but his head had immediately began to swim and he wanted to speak more to Yuri.
Yuri...who was talking to him. Otabek quickly realized he was being spoken to by his new friend. "Otabek? Otabek? You look spaced out, bad news message?" he asked, nodding toward his phone.
"Oh, no. Just trying to figure more out. Turns out, my friend had heard of you. Remember anyone named Yakov from your time in St. Petersburg?"
Yuri continued to look at him. "Ah, I don't know. Should I?"
"Maybe. Seems you took some classes with him as a boy." That was fudging it a bit but bringing it all up and again mentioning Viktor - he just didn't want to throw too much too soon at him.
"And how did you learn that?"
"I texted that friend of mine and he decided to ask someone who might know."
"Oh." Yuri shrugged and returned to his orange juice. "Guess it makes sense to ask teachers, they would know students, but they have so many. I wonder why this Yakov remembers me? Huh, does seem familiar though. Too bad I got taken away so young."
Otabek couldn't place a finger on the mood. It had gone from okay to a little heavy and stressful to...to something. It was like Yuri wanted Otabek to ask him about himself but was too nervous or proud to say that. Luckily for him, Otabek had been curious for longer than anyone knew. "Why were you taken away?"
"Awful bold question when you've just met me."
"What, like you wouldn't ask me if I was saying that shit?"
Yuri huffed and glared, but he did answer. "Mom couldn't take care of me on her own. Dad was...mean. He got more violent for some reason right before some stuff happened, I don't know, it's hard to remember. Maybe that's for the best. So they took me."
"Foggy memory?"
"Yup."
"Trauma, maybe post-traumatic stress..."
"Maybe. Nothing anyone was going to do about it. I just ended up in Spain. So I hope...I hope I can go back to St. Petersburg. All I need to do is get there. That's all." He was desperate, he was pleading, and Otabek knew he wouldn't say no to just bringing him back.
"I'll help you." Otabek worked on the coffee he had ordered, not knowing if he even needed it. When they did get to the hotel, how was he going to sleep?
"All things considered, I shouldn't believe you when you say that...but at the same time, nothing says that. I don't know enough about you or what the hell happened to trust or not trust you," Yuri babbled. He was looking vulnerable again even without the blushing.
Otabek understood, though. "I don't just say things for the sake of doing so, you'll see. We'll figure this out and get you to where you want to be." He said it firmly.
Yuri looked at the table, at the leftover food he clearly had no will to finish. He poked at the plate and nodded slowly. "Thank you."
The sun was setting when they finally rolled up to a hotel after another very loud and musical ride. Yuri had his head out the window for half of it, and the second half he was rubbing his eyes while complaining about bugs that had hit his face. Otabek had just laughed.
The hotel wasn't much to look at, in a building attached to another building attached to a bank. But it was reasonably priced without giving the idea of being a shithole, so Otabek had taken them to it. An expensive hotel might have been fun, but if he was going to backtrack to take Yuri home and feed them both and then even attempt to get to the big gig - five stars was out of his range.
Yuri didn't say a peep about it. Otabek figured he was just glad to be somewhere stable for the night - somewhere he could rest and put his thoughts together. So they checked in with a weird desk clerk who stared at Yuri like he was seeing a ghost.
"Do you know me?" Yuri had asked in a surprisingly soft voice. Otabek knew he wanted answers.
The man had swallowed and his hands shook as he handed Otabek a piece of paper to sign. Otabek signed it and the man all but shooed them away to their room before running off to some back room.
Odd.
Otabek left some of his equipment in the car, covered by a large sheet. It was probably just fine but he didn't trust the unfamiliar place when he couldn't see the car from the window. The room was on the second floor and had a view of...a building next door.
However the room itself was nice - a comfy red carpet, two queen beds, thick curtains, a minifridge and microwave, big television, all that. Yuri quickly bounced onto the bed furthest from the door and turned on the TV. Otabek didn't stop him. He didn't care what he chose to watch, and Yuri didn't even ask.
Somehow, they ended up on a nature program about bears.
Otabek hadn't been paying attention to what was on before, but he perked up when he saw a cute black bear galloping across a road like an awkward big puppy. His ears were round just like a teddy bear, eyes bright and inquisitive as he looked in the direction of the camera. Otabek smiled and chuckled softly.
It earned an immediate look from Yuri. "You really like bears, huh?"
"Yup."
"I saw the bear on your underwear. You know, the pair I'm wearing." Yuri shook his head in disbelief. "Shit. I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to buy you a drink before I get in your pants. Too bad I have no money," he lamented and then laughed.
"Ha. I-haha-uh yea," Otabek faltered, then groaning at himself for not being smooth at all. Yuri even had a raised eyebrow. Otabek looked away in his embarrassment. "Just buy me a drink next time." He had never been great with play-flirting. Additionally, he never flirted with anyone seriously, so he wasn't all that practiced on quick response.
"Next time I...get in your pants...?"
"I meant after! Fuck."
"You are terrible at kidding around." Yuri laid down completely on his back. "But...before I forget, what the hell am I sleeping in tonight? I don't want to stay in these same clothes."
"I don't know. I sleep in boxers and sometimes a short sleeve shirt. You can borrow a shirt if you want." At least Yuri had immediately ruled out the possibility he slept in the nude. That could have been awkward, even more awkward than the brief exchange they just had.
Otabek was silently bitching at himself for being so stupid, but even Yuri being silly made his heart race inexplicably as he began to feel something click into place again.
Yuri hummed. "I could, but the hotel has a little shop down there with some drinks and snacks. Think there's robes?"
"You want to sleep in a robe?"
Yuri nodded. "I want to be comfortable. It's not like my foster parents made me sleep on a rock. But the bed was old and sucked and this bed is nice. I want to complete it with a nice soft robe," he told Otabek.
Otabek nodded back. It seemed a little extra to him, but whatever. "Call down to the front desk, then."
Yuri groaned and rolled over toward the room phone. "Alright," he said, and as he did Otabek's phone vibrated.
He picked it up to look at the newest message, and it was in all capital letters: 'YOU PICKED UP SOME RANDOM NAKED GUY BY THE LAKE? WHAT KIND OF TRIP IS THIS?'
Oh Victor. Otabek could imagine the tantrum he'd worked himself into. He texted him back. 'Uh-huh. Yuri Plisetsky. He's fine, hasn't tried to murder me.'
He had switched to his Instagram for a moment while waiting for a message back, Yuri speaking loudly and slowly on the phone. He didn't have to waste time on the app long before Victor messaged back. 'Otabek, I doubt that's Yuri. There's no record of him anywhere after Yakov's class. It's strange.'
That did seem strange, but if he'd left an abusive parent and went into the foster system, then maybe he would be hard to track down. 'He went to Zarvad, Spain, ever heard of it?' Maybe Victor would find the town, or something. The information could help him find something on Yuri that had been locked up too.
Then he put the phone down, just as Yuri hung up the phone. "The store got robes?"
"Even better." Yuri was grinning. "They can be requested as a room service goodie, and I got one for you too."
"For me?"
"Yep. Listen, what you said earlier, when you said I needed a friend...it was dorky as shit. But you're right. I should have shaken your stupid hand at that table."
Otabek felt heat rush to his face. There was no hiding it. "Yup. This has what to do with robes?"
"Well friends do some cheesy shit together, yea? I had some pals in Zarvad but I had to force myself around them. Being back in Russia is like...a fresh start. So come on. Get in a stupid robe along with me and let's hang out here until you figure out the fuck is going on. Deal?"
Otabek blinked. Sometimes he had to force himself too, even though for the most part he stayed as himself around everyone. It could be difficult. He had the bad boy persona, and for the most part he was proud of it. He owned it in various ways. But at the same time, some fans and buddies expected it to be amped up every day all day and he had other sides of himself he didn't always feel comfortable in showing.
Yuri was offering him more than he knew. So Otabek nodded as a small smile formed on his face. "Deal."

I should post my Yuri on Ice fics too ~
I realized this today lol.
Sooo, enjoy one of the fics I wrote back when the anime was still ongoing xD
This is who I am, just follow me!
After the disastrous party, Yuuri eats pirojki, gets kidnapped in the dead of night by a 15 year old secret fan, gets lost in snow, sings a popular (among skaters) song and acquires a new nickname. Not necessarily in that order.
–
It was snowing heavily in Moscow, coating everything and anything in a white blanket. It almost looked like the Earth itself was falling asleep under the lull of the crescent moon that was sparkling with a sneaky glint. It was 4 in the morning and the streets were as quiet as a mother who put her baby to sleep after hours of lulling…
Not even a single murmur could be heard.
“NOOUUUUU!”
Well, except for that unholy hoarse scream that could have woken up the whole neighborhood, that is, if they weren’t walking by the secluded highway that looked like the main setting for a horror movie scene with all the snow around.
What would have looked like an angry grandfather dragging his drunken grandson home for punishment for fooling around with young maidens, was actually a figure skating coach/trainee pair that had gotten a bit lost (not without the immense help from said trainee ) after the party they had disappeared from hours ago.
“I don’t waaaaant t’do another interview”, slurred the younger one, trying to get away from his mentor as fiercely as a drunken kitten, or a piggy, some might say.
Now this boy – well, MAN, was Katsuki Yuuri, Japan’s top figure skater, who always qualified for the finals of every championship there was and always lost spectacularly to everyone. Getting the last place was like his special karma or something. As if he was cursed to always qualify and fail for the whole world to see and laugh.
Nerves, they sure can get to you…scary! Get a grip, Katsuki-san!
Currently, he was cold, wet (partly, his feet were soaked through due to lousy old boots that needed to be changed ASAP!), hungry, and still quite drunk.
“Like hell you don’t!” growled the older man, tightening his vice grip on the boy and dramatically dragging him along the vast nothingness that was Russian Snowfall in the dead of night, or morning.
Whatever.
Now this charming eyebrow (yes he has extremely weird eyebrows that actually grow like that! Talk about hawk eyes…maybe all Italians have unique facial features?) man, was muttering profanities under his breath in a mix of broken English, flawless sexy Italian and extremely weird Japanese ( as if he learned it from watching anime … who the hell talks like that?)
“Not after what you pulled off today at the party! You were supposed to be serious and calm and collected, someone who can deal with anything!” he ranted, pace intensifying along with the force of his grip. Yuuri whimpered. And to think it was him who convinced the heartbroken skater to come to that party…
This man, well, in Yuuri’s eyes a demon currently, was his coach de la italiano, Celestino Cialdini, or “Ciaociao” for short and fluffy. Mind you, the nickname absolutely did NOT come from Phichit’s family dog, King, who coincidentally happened to be a chowchow. Not at all. He was strict, always to the point and very hard to deal with at times. Also his eyebrows were distracting. And his eyes. The whole image always screamed ‘Lock-on, I am a predator, I’ll eat you alive’. Well, unless you fed him spaghetti or something.
“-..ked, well nearly naked! What was going through that idiot brain of yours at that time? Eh? Eeeeh? Not to mention the pole dancing! Why was there a pole anyways? Who brings a pole to a formal afterparty!!!“
Ah, it seems we got sidetracked a little, let’s get back to our merry duo now, shall we?
“What was that?!” roared the man, ponytail swishing back and forth with the speed they were gaining. It seemed that Yuuri had mumbled a small reply to that rhetorical question, trying to keep his balance and free himself at the same time while stumbling around in knee deep snow. Luck was on their side or they both would have faceplanted long ago had it been deadly ice.
They would have made charming snow angels! Or devils…
“I said, t’was Chris…”
“Ah, yes”, a snort. “The sparkly eyelashes from Switzerland. Are they all like that? Their men are more feminine than their women!”
Yuuri’s eyes unfocused, remembering a certain Russian skater and their dance. He opened his mouth to say something, probably resembling an "Oh, Victor~” but was cut off with a harsh tug to the middle of the street.
“And you are still not getting off the interview! Come on we need to get a ride! WE are going back to the hotel, YOU are getting some sleep and in the morning YOU and your FABULOUS FLAMENCO self will be giving an interview. And don’t you DARE dodge questions!”
Yuuri gave his best (he practiced on his own sister!) puppy eyes. But of course his coach was immune.
Italians, I say…
Ciaociao narrowed his eagle eyes and grunted, “And no, I will NOT be answering anything in your stead.”
“Bu..but it’s 4! Like, morning 4! Super late night em..early 4!!!”, the whining intensified. “We’re never going t’ find a taxi or ANY car anyways! Can we just…um, you know, just a, uh…”
Well, that really was a problem. Quite a big one, it seemed, I mean, even the angry coach went silent and loosened his grip somewhat, eyes downcast, trying to think of a solution. With both their phones long dead (Celestino’s really WAS dead, as it took a nice long swim during the party in the resident wine pitcher, screen flickering pathetically a few times before dying in the blood of grapes…Yuuri had gone all “Make us free, na splash, kasametta..” at that time, hands together in a silent prayer to the now dead device) it was pretty much impossible to contact anyone or anything.
Why didn’t they keep pagers around anymore?
Yuuri tried to use this momentum to get away. With mysterious ninja-like skills out of nowhere (most probably from all the champagne), he disengaged all his captive limbs and turned to make a beeline to hell knows where, when a beep resonated through the emptiness and an astonishingly white light came right on his frozen face, momentarily blinding him. A screech was heard and a car appeared milliseconds after the light, making an eyebrow raising U-turn and stopping right beside them in a well done drift.
Chris would have approved of it with a low whistle.
The snow whirlwind the driver brought with himself settled down to reveal an old, blue Zaporojets.
A window rolled down with a little screech along with the layer of snow gathered on it and an enormous furry scarf poked itself outside to greet them.
A few silent minutes they were all blinking at each other, during which it became evident that the ’scarf’ was actually a human head, wrapped exquisitely in a white, red and blue patterned scarf (patriot much?). A small patch of what looked like straw at first was actually hair, the color a magnificent shade of noodles from Yuuri’s beloved katsudon! The only visible part that could be attributed to a human was a sharp, distinctly Russian nose, angry red from the cold and his eyes, a unique blend of grey and green. Those eyes were staring Yuuri down, seizing him.
Yuuri gulped audibly.
Celestino’s left eyebrow started lowering.
“If you need a taxi, I can take you wherever you need to go”, the unknown ‘straw’ spoke up, his sharp, rough English cutting the air like a knife.
Yuuri gulped and took a step back, suddenly becoming keenly aware that they were in the middle of nowhere, without their phones, in the dead of night with their passports in their pockets to top it…
And it was snowing almost as much as Phitchit had shed dandruff from his head that one time when he used the wrong shampoo in Detroit!
“We’ll take that offer, young man! Take us to Aerostar Hotel!”
The stranger grinned so wide that one could see it even with all the mummy scarf wrapping.
Yuuri whimpered once more, dreading the ride.
And dreadful it was, as Yuuri was chewed out by Celestino again and again. And the fact that their stranger Russian driver was right THERE, listening to it all was the worst.
“No, I will not do the interview! I don’t want to talk to the cameras or the people! I don’t want to talk to anyone!” huffed the Japanese, slumping in a defeated lump in the backseat, his drunkedness still evident in the slight ‘whoosh’ his hands were making in the air. “You wanted me to have fun, right? Riiiiight! Well I did, it was my way of loosening up! So WHAT?”
“So what!” the coach took a deep breath. “I’ll tell you what! If someone leaks those photos and videos, you are done for! All those years skating and you STILL don’t have a sponsor! There were potential candidates there! Yet you went and ruined it all!”
“What photos? Someone was taking photos?”
A barely audible snort escaped the silent driver. The two in the back ignored him completely.
But the boy kept his eyes trained on the mirror, watching and silently making his own bizarre deductions.
He really should be keeping his eyes on the road though, not to mention BOTH hands on the wheel…
“Yuuri..”
“Ciaociao, pleeeease. I’ll figure something out about the whole sponsorship thing, just..”,he sighed, dejected. “Let me be tomorrow. I really can’t take any reporters, especially after Vicchan..”
His voice broke at the end.
“Let’s just go to the airport! I’ll fly back to Japan, you deal with press!” He sat up with a vigor and gently tapped straw driver’s back. “Please take us to Sheremetyevo, please!”
A hand yanked him back rather sharply.
“Don’t you dare, young man! Straight to the hotel and that’s it!”
“I am NOT doing that interview, Celestino!”
“Oh yes you are! You’re not a Japanese maiden in distress, nor am I chivalrous enough to grant your drunken ass any request! It’s fina-..” His words formed a surprised ‘aaaaaa’ as the engine grunted, screeched like a wet cat and finally came to a stop.“..ah?”
“Wha…whats going on?” demanded the man. Yuuri was looking back and forth, discreetly smelling the air for any kind of weird pre-explosion smoke or something. The grin on his face was a little unnerving though.
The blondie shrugged, turning the key in the ignition a few times in a futile attempt to make it work again.
“Brat!”
“Um…right! We’re gona have to push…” the boy said, already getting out of the car. “It’ll go back up once we give it a little nudge".
The cold air hit Yuuri and he snapped out whatever evil horror trance he had gotten himself into. As he opened the door to get out as well, the blonde snapped it close with a leer. “We need some weight to be inside, you stay, piggy. Mr. Ciaobrows, you come push from the back.”
Yuuri snorted at the nickname, then burst into full blown laughter, not even bothering to smother his guffaws.
Celestino threw his a dirty glare and heavily shuffled out, leaving an almost crying Yuuri inside.
Merrily, they pushed the car in the snow, the Italian old man pushing from the back, the blonde youth pushing right beside the front seat, the door open. Step by step, the vehicle inched forward. Then just as Celestino was starting to feel the burn of muscles in his arms, the blonde hopped into the front seat, with the agility of a tiger, turned the key, bringing the dead engine back to life and the car sped away, leaving the poor coach to scream after them incredulously.
Funny thing was, Yuuri himself was screaming as well.
“Oh shut it!”, yelled the boy, snapping the door shut and turning around to face the Japanese. Yuuri snapped his mouth shut in sheer bewilderment from the death glare (he had to work on it, it looked too cute to be scary) the child was giving him. Yes child.
Somewhere in the process of all this he had unwrapped his scarf. Now it hung low on his neck, exposing his youthful features to the one and only passenger. He was incredibly cute. Women would swoon at his mare glance in the future. Honestly, Russians…
Dimly, Yuuri noted that this he was probably around 17 years old, if not younger. And this child had just kidnapped him.
Cute.
And weird. And scary. And I’m never going to see Kaa-san and Mari nee-chan again!
Clearing his throat awkwardly, Yuuri asked.
“Wh..where are we going?”
“What do you mean where? The airport of course!”
“Ah, of course! Wait who decided that?” He stared at the mirror, trying to be intimidating. Somewhere at the back of his mind he made a note that lighter colored eyes were automatically more intimidating. Right…
“What do you mean who? Yuri, of course!”
Yuuri put a hand to his heart, “I did NOT!”
The teen swung around to face him, one hand still on the wheel.
“Who the hell said anything about YOU, piggy? I said Yuri did, Yuri!”
“Ah…watch the road, please?”
He got an angry huff as a reply.
This kid was precious…like a cinnamon roll.
“So, Yuri who again? Decided, I mean, that we are going to the airport?”
“Plisetsky, remember that! Yuri Plisetsky did!”
“And..who is Yuri Plisetsky?”
“Me!”
“Oh….”
They spend a few more minutes in silence.
“Celestino is alone out there, in the cold, we really should go back. Yuri-cha~n, stop playing around.”
The car came to a halt, making Yuuri collide with the back of the front seat. While he was nursing his nose, the boy fully faced him, nearly hanging off the seat. His expression was a mix between anger, guilt and admiration.
This baffled the skater to silence.
“You wanted to go back to your Japan, right? If we go back now, you’ll have to do that interview! Right?!”
“Yuri-cha-..”
“Stop! Don’t call me Yuri-chan!”
“Yurio then?”
“Wha? NO, no no no!” the blonde reached towards his almost namesake, hands posed as if to strangle him.
“Yurio, he is-..”
“Evil, manipulating, heartless, eyebrow man! The perfect villain! Besides, I actually messaged the taxi center for a car. He will have a ride anyways. What do you say?!”
Yuuri considered it for a minute, finger nearly in his mouth from his thinking pose. Yuri the Smaller raised a perfect eyebrow at the all too familiar gesture a certain playboy had.
“Okay!”
“Okay?”
“Uuun, Okay!!!”
When the old radio croaked to life, Yuuri was in the front, and the boys were munching on some pirojki and having a nice, pleasant chat about this and that (“how old are you Yurio?” “Don’t call me..- uh whatever! I’m fifteen!” “Fif….teen. Ah. I see. WHO THE HELL LET YOU DRIVE? DO YOU EVEN HAVE A LICENSE?” “IF YOU YELL, PIGGY, I YELL TOO! And no, of course I don’t! But my grandpa lets me drive for practice! I’m goo~d, right? Right?”).
The old player was ignored mostly, until a certain song popped up.
Yuuri started humming almost on autopilot.
“Taaaam, tam pam, paaam, and the starry sky, spreading above~…”
Yuri glanced at him, eyes wide and staring. The Japanese skated grinned. “I love this song. Actually all the skaters my age and younger adore it.”
“Really”, Yuri inquired in a slightly disbelieving voice. “No one in my class knows it..like no one! But I really like it! My uncle hates it though…”
“Yeah, I know what you mean. No one in my course knows it either, besides me and my roommate Phichit! But he’s a skater, so it’s kind of …Yeah.”, he trailed off, tapping his foot to the beat. “None of the older skaters like it though. Chris always ‘stage vomits’ when he hears it and Victor…ah..”
Yuri smiles mischievously and nods. Yuuri taps his foot, Smallish Yuri taps his fingers on the wheel. On an signal none of them even agreed on, they both started.
“I can rule the world, JJ, just follow me, I will break the walls, now look at me”, they sing/scream simultaneously, each pointing to themselves like over washed drama queens. “..also be the blind side of the enemy, this is who I am, just remember me..”
Yuuri sprawls himself on the blonde’s lap like a cat not even thinking that this child was actually driving. Yuri glances at him, face flushed from the adrenaline rush and sheer happiness of being able to sing his favorite song with someone who actually knew the lyrics.
“I’M THE KING JJ, NO ONE DEFEATS ME, THIS IS WHO I AM BABY, just follow me..-”
Yuuri raises his hands up like a conductor, while Yuri fake-longingly stares out of the window, eyes downcast.
“..just follow me off the ground”, they sing softly, then burst in a fit of giggles.
In case you are wondering, no, they didn’t crash on the way, yes, they reached the airport, yes, a certain phone was put to charge and bombarded with missed call messages from a certain coach who seemed to be back in the hotel already, no, Yuuri didn’t return to him, yes, indeed he actually left for Japan, of course not before giving his almost namesake a hug and a promise to sing together again in the dead on night.
Wonderful memories, right?
In case you were also wondering, yes, Yuuri did forget everything after the 9 hour beauty sleep he got on the plane.
Shame…
Well, don’t worry, in a few month those two will see each other once more, when Yuri follows his wayward uncle on his quest of self-discovery ( really, for a man who should be settling down with a family, self-discovery at his age? Pathetic!), love and inspiration to Japan.
More specifically, for a certain piggy who could hit all the highest notes like a pro in his most favourite song of his most hated singer/skater.
Honestly, JJ should go to hell.
But, maybe record a few songs before that…
Omake:
The car was safely parked in the garage and Yuri Plisetski was munching on the remaining potato bun. “Yuuri is interesting.”, he mused out to the wide sky. “It’s a shame he butchered the performance. Though, the choreography sucked so much.. ugh. But, I’m glad i got to see him!”. He chuckled and took another big bite. Yuuri was his idol, that one and only skater he admired. And it was all because he saw that performance, back when Yuuri was 12. His very first one, and, well the only one he won. Since then Little Yuri followed his namesake’s every move. He even has a photo collection in his phone.
With a password, so no one snoops. A certain silverette no one, that is.
“Well Victor sucks. Still don’t get how that idiot didn’t even recognize .. uh, idiot, stupid Victor!”, he ranted, stuffing the rest of the pirojok in his mouth in one go. Yeah his uncle ( in reality he adored him probably as much as Yuuri) was an airhead, the biggest idiot the world could have.
Wiping his slightly greasy hands on his jeans like any teenage brat would, he huffed, rolled his shoulders and went on to undertake new mission - sneaking home unnoticed.
“YURI PLISETSKIY! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!”
“Uhh..”

Surprise Baby - YoI Plot Bunny
During Yurio’s rebellious teen years, he could care less about “staying pure” and not having fun. There were plenty of peers willing to spend a night with him, and he did so with a variety of people, though never enough to affect his training. Drama free was a requirement from them all, which they all abided by.
Until.
At sixteen years old, Yuri was cornered in the locker rooms after a competition by a girl he hadn’t seen in a year. She was angry and accused him of doing enough damage to her career since her grandmother hadn’t let her take care of the problem when she had found out that she was pregnant, and instead practically kept her prisoner in the house until the baby was born. She told Yuri that men never suffered the consequences and that this time they would. Leaving behind the baby in his carrier and the diaper bag, she stormed away with full plans of training back up to her previous level.
Yuri was stunned speechless and panicked over having an infant left at his feet. The press would have a field day if they caught him with a child. The baby was fussy and Yuri bent down, hands hovering, desperate to find a way to make sure it didn’t start crying. The baby gripped Yuri’s fingers and settled down. Yuri was a lost cause as of that moment.
Yakov found Yuri and the baby a few minutes later and locked them in the room. Yakov said it might not be Yuri’s, but Yuri decided that didn’t matter. He wasn’t going to abandon the child and leave it with no family. Yakov respects the decision and agrees to help. Calling Lilia, they managed to sneak the baby out and head home with none the wiser.
The small makeshift family hired a discreet nanny that took care of the baby during the day. Yakov and Lilia were doting, but Yurio was devoted to making sure his son left loved and wanted. He held, fed, changed, and cared for him every night. He sang songs as he soaked his feet and rattled toys as he did his stretches. They were very attached.
Yuri caved and called Yuuko about it and she was sworn to secrecy. They texted constantly and she gave great advice on raising kids. This backfired a year later when one day Yuuri was visiting Hasetsu and she said something that made him put all the pieces together of Yuri’s recent odd behavior. So when he went back to Russia, he showed up at Yakov’s house while Victor was away. Yurio was upset, but Yuuri promised not to say anything and offered his help. After all, Japan is very family oriented and Yuuri could offer plenty of advice. The baby ended up loving Uncle Yuuri.
The next year Victor was injured. It was determined that if he didn’t want to lose all functionality in his knees, he’d need to take a year off to allow himself to heal. So Victor announced his retirement and intent to start coaching full time. He acted as if he was fine with it, but was internally freaking out. Being home much more often meant noticing Yuuri and Yurio’s secretive behavior.
Which was why when Yuuri and Yurio ended up arguing in private, Victor snuck up to listen in. Yuuri was insisting on how they needed to tell Victor and Yurio was resistant. Having no other context, Victor’s midlife crisis said “They’re having an affair!” and he stormed off in a jealous rage to get drunk.
So Victor showed up on Yakov’s doorstep with a missing shirt and reeking of booze, and he planned to give Yurio a piece of his mind. When Yuuri answered the door, Victor dropped to his knees, hugged Yuuri’s stomach, and started sobbing, asking what he did wrong. Yurio walked up with the baby in his arms and yelled at Victor for making his son cry and then stormed off, leaving a stunned Victor.
Victor was a little upset that they had left him out of the secret but respected that Yuuri had promised that he wouldn’t say anything until Yurio was ready. Needing an outlet for his retirement crisis, Victor went into full-on World’s Best Uncle mode and did absolutely everything for the baby. Yurio was low key jealous, especially with how close the two became.
When the baby turned four, he started taking more interest in everyone’s life outside the house and Yuri made the decision to involve him in it. So that meant Yuri had to fess up to everyone. His grandfather scolded a lot, and complained about being a great-grandfather, but took it fairly well. Yuri was most nervous about Otabek and hadn’t even been able to say the words, instead just shoving his phone across the table with a picture of his son and Potya on it when they went to dinner and letting Otabek put it all together. Otabek said it was noble of Yuri to be such a responsible parent and he fully supported Yuri’s decision. It was a great relief.
Uncle Otabek loved mailing toys and Yakov’s team got the baby addicted to sweets. They all fought over chances to babysit and skate around the ice with him. The kid never lacked for presents or playmates.
The press went wild during his son’s public debut when after Yuri’s short program, he skated to the kiss and cry and immediately took his excited and slightly overwhelmed son in his arms and kissed him on the cheek. They stayed like that through the reveal of the scores and the interviews, Yuri and Yakov scowling at the cameras, and the baby demanding kisses from them both regularly (which they, of course, obliged). The reporters were practically rushing through all the skate related questions in order to get to the juicy gossip, but Yuri glossed over the questions with a simple, “This is my son.” before walking away.
Yuri’s son was learning how to skate by the time he was five, and he declared his intent to be like his dad. Having a family consisting of Yurio, Yakov, Lilia, Yuuri, Victor, Mila, Georgi, Nikolai, the nanny, Otabek, Yuuko and her family, and Yuuri’s entire family, was definitely a crazy collection, but there was no other family in the world so loving and devoted.

Update to LIE Chap. 7
Hey friends! I hope you are all doing well and had a wonderful holiday season!
I’m back from my long-ass vacation and will hopefully be back to writing Stranger than Fiction soon.
In the meantime I have something to share with all of you. While I was on vacation I was reading through LIE (I often read my own writing, I feel like this is kind of weird, but w/e). Now usually I’ll just read my master file, but I was actually reading on Ao3 for some reason, and I got to the beginning of Chapter 7 and was like “Huh. I swear there was another scene here. Hmm... maybe I moved it to the middle of the chapter?”
Well, long story short it was not in the middle of the chapter, in fact it wasn’t anywhere. An entire scene (a very important scene) has been missing from the beginning of Chapter 7 ALL THIS TIME. XD
The crazy thing is that no one even noticed! Or at least no one ever commented to me that it seemed like the beginning of the chapter was disjointed or missing something. But I guess you are all too kind to be like “Marty, I feel like your writing got really shit right here.”
So anyway I’m going to update the chapter on Ao3, but I’m also just going to post the scene below under a cut so you don’t have to go hunt it up. For those of you who don’t remember, Chapter 7 starts out with Victor in jail. The scene that has long been omitted is his actual arrest, which should have been the beginning of the chapter!
Anyway, I’m sorry, and also amused that no one has ever noticed this rather important scene being completely absent. OTL
Sakhalin Island, Korsakovsk Post, Spring 1889 - V.N.
I should not have been surprised by my arrest. To be completely honest I suppose I wasn’t surprised. If anything my surprise came at its timing. I thought - erroneously - that I still had more time. And I had hoped that by the time I ran out of time it wouldn’t matter anymore.
But Grankin’s patience with me had worn thin earlier than I’d anticipated. Or maybe this wasn’t about patience at all. More likely it was about power. My arrest had been arranged only so that he knew that I knew it could be done. Even as far away from Alexandrovsk as I was, I wasn’t out of his reach. As I’d hoped I had been.
In retrospect that hope seemed both desperate and naive.
Once I returned to Korsakovsk, I did what I could to reestablish and ingratiate myself to Bely and the others. But a famous dancer isn’t much good if he can’t dance, and the weather wasn’t yet good enough to expect visiting officials who might be interested in my simple notoriety, good looks, and charismatic conversation skills.
Grankin’s letters and their contents weighed heavily on my mind. He insisted that I get things moving by the spring when the shipments between the mainland, Alexandrovsk, and the other districts would increase. And if I didn’t have some sort of plan to our mutual benefit by that time he had plenty of colorful threats in mind. He would have me flayed, send Gilyak mercenaries to drag me back to Alexandrovsk by my neck, have me flogged, have me imprisoned, ruin me in various creative ways, ensure I was returned to Alexandrovsk in chains, or worse, sent to the Tymovsk district or the coal mines of Duay.
Most of this I took as the ravings of a small, fat, unhappy megalomaniac.
But there was one threat I took very seriously. The threat that he would find ways to do harm to those I cared about. As far as he knew the only person I cared about was Yuri, but that didn’t mean he didn’t have eyes on me in Korsakovsk. Or that he couldn’t or wouldn’t find out about Yuuri if I resumed my frequent visits.
Staying away from him and the minshuku was a conscious decision. One that ate at me day and night. I ached to be with Yuuri, just to see his face, so much that if it wasn’t for the rest of the mess of my life to keep me distracted, I might have quite literally gone insane.
Knowing that my absence and silence would also hurt Yuuri was worse still. But I was terrified that rumors would spread. That news of our attachment would catch and somehow he would become embroiled in this mess.
It’s ironic that fate waited just long enough for me to return to him before playing its hand.
I’d only gone down to the docks, because I knew Yuri was returning on the Baikal that day. I wanted to welcome him home, but he was still working, helping unload the freight. So I watched while I waited.
He’s much stronger than you would expect of someone so small and wiry. It’s hard work, but he never flinches from it. He worked alongside another young, dark haired boy, and I don’t know why but I got the impression that they were close somehow. They didn’t talk much, but maybe that is what made them seem close: despite very little verbal communication they worked side by side seamlessly.
They smiled at each other.
I didn’t recognize the other boy. He wasn’t a settler, not from Korsakovsk or Alexandrovsk anyway. Part of the ship’s crew then? Someone Yuri had worked with before or only just met during the last sailing?
A friend? Something more? A secret he’d kept from me?
Could he be the reason he stayed longer in town when the mail came in?
My train of thought intrigued and troubled me. I would be happy if it was true that Yuri had a friend. There are so few young people on Sakhalin. But why not tell me?
Caught up in my thoughts I did not notice the guards going through the unloaded goods. Nor did I notice when their attention suddenly turned to me.
“We found it! Like the telegraph said! A crate of contraband. Vodka!” one of them called out. I looked at them, curious as to what they’d found, and was unnerved to see them staring directly at me.
“That is unfortunate. Detain Mr. Nikiforov.”
The voice of Mr. Bely came from behind me. Turning, startled, I saw him standing with two more guards further up the dock. They had rifles. He was looking at me with a mixture of disappointment and contempt.
“What?” I asked stupidly, and had only a moment to brace myself before the guards were on me, grabbing my arms and twisting them behind my back. My muscles spasmed and I gasped in pain, clenching my teeth. “Wait! What are you doing?! I haven’t done anything!”
“Take him to the cell in the prison office. I wish to speak with him there.”
The guards pushed my head down as they propelled me forward. All I could do was splutter. “What is this about?!”
“Victor!” Yuri’s footsteps on the dock were fast and loud. “What are you doing? Let him go!”
I strained against the men holding me, trying to twist around and look over my shoulder. “Yuri, don’t! Stay back. I’ll get this sorted out.”
My words didn’t deter him. He threw himself at one of the guards, grabbing his arm and trying to yank him away from me. “Let him go! He hasn’t done anything!”
“Yuri, stop!” Surprisingly it was another voice that said these words. Still craning my neck around, I saw the dark haired boy running after Yuri just in time to catch him as the guard shoved him back.
I heard the click of a rifle being primed and panicky fear welled up in my guts, cold and awful, threatening to choke me. “Yuri, stay back!” I shouted again, a tinge of desperation in my voice. The two guards beside Mr. Bely had both readied their guns.
“Control yourself, young man, or you will find yourself arrested as well. If one of my men doesn’t shoot you first.”
I couldn’t help the snarling sound I made between my teeth. Yuri’s face twisted in rage and for a moment I was terrified as it seemed he was about to spring forward again. But the dark haired boy’s arm snaked around him, holding him firmly in place. He said something in his ear, and my little brother crumpled a little.
I didn’t know his name, or what he meant to Yuri, but I thanked him from the bottom of my heart.
“It will be fine, Yuratchka,” I said as glibly as I could, just before the guards grabbed my hair and shoved my head forward and down again.
I was escorted none too gently to the prison office and deposited into the small holding cell kept there for disruptors of the peace and questioning. There was nothing in the cell. No bed. No chair. Only the floor and the bars, which clanged shut loudly behind me as I was shoved through the cell door.
I turned around immediately, wrapping my hands around the bars as Mr. Bely came to stand before me. The guards took up silent positions to either side of the cell.
“I am disappointed by this turn of events Mr. Nikiforov,” he said calmly, twisting his lips, and there was a note of sincerity in his voice.
I looked at him evenly. “I wish I knew what turn of events you were speaking of Mr. Bely. My sudden imprisonment is a bit of a surprise.”
He made a thoughtful sound and then produced a neatly folded telegram from his pocket. “I received this several days ago from Alexandrovsk Post.” He unfolded it slowly and then began to read. “‘V. Nikiforov known kulak. Smuggling to Korsakovsk. Shipment suspected among Baikal cargo.”’ I watched Mr. Bely as he folded up the telegram paper and put it back in his pocket. “What can you tell me about this telegram?”
I pursed my lips and shook my head. “Nothing. Though apparently you found something among the cargo you think you can attribute to its veracity.”
“A crate of vodka, apparently.” He met my eyes evenly. “As you know distribution of alcohol by anyone but the government is illegal on Sakhalin, Mr. Nikiforov.”
“And you think I would be stupid enough to be so obvious? I would at least make some attempt to disguise what I was smuggling.” The words were out of my mouth before I could think better of it.
“Spoken like a man who has had some experience with such things.”
I stared at him, pursing my lips, but didn’t make any response.
“And there is the curious fact that you were at the dock, watching the cargo being unloaded, as well as the fact that your younger brother just happened to be working on the ship carrying this particular crate of illegal goods.”
“Yuri had nothing to do with any of this,” I ground the words between my teeth.
Mr. Bely canted his head to one side. “And how could you possibly know this if you had nothing to do with it yourself?”
I took a deep breath and looked him in the eyes. “Neither of us had anything to do with it. Leave Yuri out of this.” My nostrils flared as I clenched my teeth, filled with rage not only at the implication that Yuri could be at risk, but at my own powerlessness. “Who sent the telegram?”
Mr. Bely’s eyebrow arched a little. “Why does it matter?”
“Was it Ivan Grankin by any chance?”
His other eyebrow rose to join the first.
“That man is a worse crook than any of the criminals in your prison,” I spat. “If you found ‘smuggled’ vodka in the freight it’s because he put it there himself, and then sent you that telegram to implicate me.”
Mr. Bely was quiet a moment. “I know very well that the officials in the northern districts do not appreciate the letter of the law in the same way we do here in the south. I know how Alexandrovsk is run, and it disgusts me, Mr. Nikiforov. That is why I do not take incidents such as these lightly. I have rooted out every attempt that has been made to bring that corruption to my district. Ivan Grankin is a crook, you’re right, as are all of the officials in Alexandrovsk. This, too, I am aware of. But I can see no reason why it would be to his benefit to sabotage his own smuggling operation.”
I took a deep breath, grasping now at the slim chance that I might actually win Bely to my side. “There is no operation. Grankin agreed to my transfer thinking I would help him and the other officials spread their smuggling to Korsakovsk. But once I got here, I refused to work for him, and this is his retaliation. I have no desire to see the corruption of Alexandrovsk brought here! He sent that vodka and that telegram knowing it would lead to my arrest. That’s the only reason!” My knuckles had become white from gripping the bars.
Mr. Bely was quiet again for a moment and then looked down at his feet, tapping one thoughtfully. “Strangely enough I don’t find what you say to be entirely preposterous, Mr. Nikiforov. But regardless it is your word against his, and the quickest way to be rid of this problem is to simply be rid of you.” My blood felt like ice water in my veins. He looked back up, meeting my eyes. “I don’t want you in Korsakovsk any longer. I don’t need you or Mr. Grankin causing me headaches or sewing disorder in my settlement. I will be sending you back to Alexandrovsk where you and the Prison Overseer can deal with each other directly.”
My stomach sank like a stone. “You can’t do that,” I croaked. “I came here to get away from that place. My... my brother...”
“Is a free settler, and welcome to do as he wishes. Whether that means returning to Alexandrovsk with you or remaining in Korsakovsk. He is old enough to be considered an adult. His work on the docks should be enough so that he can support himself.” He smiled a little grimly. “Of course, that is assuming you are correct in your assertion that he is not involved in these underhanded business practices.”
“I told you, he has nothing to do with any of this!”
“Yes, that is what you told me.”
I stared at him through the bars, and after a moment I closed my eyes, trying to keep the overwhelming feeling of despair welling up inside me at bay. He was dangling Yuri in front of me like some kind of bargaining chip. I didn’t know why, or what it was he wanted from me in exchange for my brother’s safety. “Mr. Bely, please. I am begging you. Yuri is a good boy.”
We stared at each other for a long moment and then he grunted. “I won’t look further into his potential involvement granted that he behaves himself, and that you accept your fate and leave Korsakovsk without a fuss. You are popular and well known, and I don’t know who else you might have been working with here. The last thing I need on my hands is some kind of uproar among the prisoners and settlers because of you.”
My brows rose at that. So that’s what he was afraid of? Some kind of riot? On my behalf, or whipped up by me? The thought seemed ludicrous. But if it was truly a fear of the District Governor then perhaps there was something I didn’t know.
The Korsakovsk District was orderly and free of corruption, but the officials were also known for being heavy handed when it came to punishment and discipline. Unpopular prison wardens and palachs, the men who carried out floggings, had been killed in the past by unhappy and vengeful convicts at many prisons. If you were already convicted of murder and sentenced to serve a life-sentence of hard labor, where was the harm in adding another murder to your score?
I smirked faintly. “I think, Mr. Bely, you overestimate my popularity and the influence I might have here. I’ve been in Korsakovsk barely a year, and much of that was spent convalescing with the Japanese. I don’t think you need to worry. Nobody will even notice I’m gone.”
He grunted again. “For my sake I hope you are right, and that you will serve as an example to remind the others that corruption is not tolerated in Korsakovsk.”
My eyes flicked up to his, an unpleasant feeling roiling in my stomach. “What do you mean by that?”
“You have committed a crime in the eyes of the officials, Mr. Nikiforov. And crime begets due punishment-”
“You said you were sending me back to Alexandrovsk,” I cut him off, the unpleasant feeling becoming something more like fear.
“And so I am. But before you will have a date with the palach. A public flogging will serve as a much better deterrent than your quiet disappearance from the settlement, especially if - as you say - no one will even notice you are gone.”
I had never been flogged before, but I had seen it and I had heard it and I knew that men had died from it. The rozgi. The plet. The knout. These are the weapons of the palach, each more terrible and severe than the last. Strapped face down to the kabila bench a man loses not only all ability to defend himself, but all dignity.
A weak feeling made my knees buckle and I slumped forward against the bars. I heard Mr. Bely make a soft, tutting sound. “I know this is unfortunate, Mr. Nikiforov. In all honesty, I liked you, and was glad to have someone of some interest in my settlement. They keep all of the interesting people for themselves in Alexandrovsk. But you have to understand that maintaining order in this settlement and within my prison is my duty to Russia, and to all those who are in my care. If it makes you feel any better I will instruct the palach to go easy on you.”
To my mortification, I was trembling.
Mr. Bely tutted again. “Until arrangements can be made I think the cachots noirs will be the best place to keep you, Mr. Nikiforov. That will save us both the trouble of shackling you and keep you out of any trouble with the other prisoners.”

Voyage Into 空白(Kuhaku (Space))
VIK
PROLOGUE
Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Viktor Nikiforov. Born into a prosperous family, he had an incredible obsession with space. This is the story of him and the former crown prince JJ.
During his ninth birthday party, Viktor was allowed to look through the telescope of a renowned scientist. Ever since, he was fascinated with space and everything about it. “I want to explore space!” he exclaimed happily to his parents. For some reason they didn’t happy about that. Viktor was confused, for they never let him near a telescope again. They wanted him to be a lawyer like them to continue the family legacy.
Viktor’s parents died on a Thursday when he was eleven. They were murdered in their sleep, broken bodies found at the break of dawn. Someone had robbed quite a bit of their riches too. The only reason why Viktor wasn’t harmed was because he was at a friend’s house. He was sent to an orphanage as he had no other close relatives. He mourned, but he felt like he should have cried more. He was never really that close to them anyways, nor did he ever feel that they truly loved him.
To Viktor, the orphanage was strange at first. When he first moved in, there were whispers, for he had come from a rich and wealthy family. Being a relatively social person though, he made friends quickly and easily. Since they had to stick together through tough times, the kids in the orphanage were like his second family.
The first time Viktor met JJ was when the royal family decided to visit a few orphanages, as the orphanages in the area were less than stellar. He noticed how the young prince seemed restless, energetic, and slightly arrogant (he could relate), even going as far as to tease young Yuri about his small stature and obsession with cats. This resulted in the toddler beating JJ with a shoe. They talked, and while Viktor found JJ slightly irritating, he was ok with this because JJ was enraptured with space, much like Viktor.
They met again in a bustling market 4 years later. Viktor was surprised JJ still remembered him. They exchanged contact information and parted ways again. The prince wasn’t supposed to wander the streets.
Viktor and JJ kept in touch, both growing weary of the fast paced everyday life, both wanting to escape. Eventually, they decided to meet in person to talk about their plans.
They decided that they would meet at night, steal a government-issue space cruiser with the help of local acquaintance and tech expert Seung Gil (he owed JJ a favor), and silently fly away.
Viktor didn’t pack much. Just a bit of food, water, a few pairs of extra clothes, all his money, and a towel. He took Yuri’s knife shoes (the boy had allowed him to take them, albeit reluctantly) and put on a black sweater. Outside of the atmosphere, the temperature would drop very fast. Even if the space cruiser would be able to keep it comfortable, it was better to be safe than sorry. Plus, it would help to blend in with the environment. Taking one last look at his roommates and a deep breath, Viktor quietly picked open the window and snuck out. He would miss them. The crisp, cool air brushed his face, and he took to the alley shadows, where JJ would be lurking in the dark, waiting for him.
Chapter One
Viktor and JJ snuck quietly down the hallways of a top secret government building. Seung Gil had hacked all the doors and security systems so they could get through without sounding an alarm or notifying anyone of their presence. The only threat was if they happened to be caught by a wandering android or living guard. The atmosphere was rather ominous in the building. Viktor shivered, feeling uneasy.
“Seung Gil, where do we go from here?” Viktor hissed into his earpiece.
“Turn left, there’s a door. Open the door. There’s your ship,” came the response. Viktor and JJ snuck into the room, careful not to make a sound.
The ship was magnificent. A soft blue glow glinted off the shiny white exterior, and the streamlined shape suggested that it was extremely fast. Golden letters dubbed (or subbed, take your pick) the ship as Victory. Most of the top half was covered in glass. Viktor stepped up to it and took out a key card (they had stolen one not too long before). As soon as he stepped inside, an alarm started blaring, “UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS DETECTED. UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS DETECTED, ROOM 39.”
Guards came charging in and Viktor panicked. “JJ, start up the ship please, and let me borrow your laser gun!” JJ tossed him the gun and ran to the control panel. “Seung, I thought you disabled all the alarms!”
Seung Gil’s voice came through, sounding slightly worried for once, “I thought I did, but I guess my hacking didn’t go all the way through! It’s really hard hacking through these government buildings, they have state-of-the-art tech! It doesn’t matter, but please pay attention to your surroundings, as you are in immediate danger.” One of the guards had managed to climb in, and Viktor shot him. The laser was reflected back, and Viktor was confused. Then he realized the guard’s coat was impenetrable. He would have to get blood on his knife shoes, or at the very least, knock the guy out. The ship started to take off, and Viktor charged at the surprised guard, knocking his head with the side of his shoe, as he didn’t want to kill the guard. He took the coat, then pushed the guard off the ship.
Viktor felt a little guilty, but it was necessary. He looked at the coat. It was purple with three gold loops on the chest and one on the left shoulder. He shrugged it on and turned towards JJ who was frantically trying to work the ship but failing. The ship steadied and JJ let out a whoop, “I did it!”
“No, you dumbass, I did it,” Seung Gil’s voice sounded through their earpieces. “Both of you need a crash course in ship flying. Aren’t you glad I’m here? Hover above my house for this lesson, because if you leave the atmosphere of this planet, we’ll lose connection. I’ll be waiting.”
They were hovering about 50 dors (roughly equal to about 2 human meters) above the building. JJ started up the ship again…well, tried to. “JJ, please let Viktor fly the ship.” Seung Gil ordered, sounding slightly annoyed.
JJ smirked, “The king never backs down from a challenge!” They heard Seung Gil grumble and curse under his breath, something about goddamn arrogant princes and I didn’t sign up for this much work.
Viktor decided to do something before Seung Gil got too annoyed. He walked over and tapped JJ on the shoulder. “Would you kindly let me drive the ship?” he said with his best heart shaped smile. His voice had a threatening edge. There was something adorable, yet oddly terrifying about it when he did that.
However, JJ wasn’t fazed. “You can fly it after me. After all, the king always deserves to go-“
He didn’t get to finish his sentence as Viktor picked him up out of the chair and sat down in his place. Viktor grinned, “Thanks for letting someone who actually knows how to fly the ship at the controls!” JJ pouted and proceeded to sit down in another chair, playing on his
iPhone 96X.
Viktor started up the ship again, and in no time, they were 50 dors above Seung Gil’s house.
“And that is the navigation panel. This ship runs on space dust so you don’t have to worry about power. Any more questions?” Seung Gil asked over JJ’s iPhone 96X on video call. Viktor and JJ both shook their heads. “Great. Go explore space or something. My debt has been granted so please don’t bother me again. Goodbye,” Seung Gil then hung up.
“Where do we go from here?” JJ exclaimed, excitement glimmering in his eyes.
“We can go anywhere we want!” Viktor exclaimed happily, excited as well. He started up the ship again, and they raced away, sucked up by the sunrise and vanished into air.
Chapter 2
Soon after leaving their dear home planet of Glavnaya, Viktor and JJ paused to stare at the beautiful wonders that their eyes beheld. The faraway stars were sparkling specks in the sky, and even though they had seen their own home planet from space in pictures, somehow seeing it in person was even more stunning. Pale pink cotton candy clouds swirled around the planet, and rich orange ground peeked through. The deep purple waters had never seemed more gorgeous.
Interstellar space travel had been a part of Glavnaya for quite some time, so Viktor and JJ had the option of faster than light travel. Viktor revved up the engine, and they proceeded to zip towards the nearest solar system, approximately 5 light years away.
Viktor used the navigation panel like Seung Gil instructed, but somehow, they ended up not exactly sure where they were. The panel said they were next to the planet Prathesthiy, but Viktor didn’t see anything. He wondered if the navigation panel was broken. This was until JJ pointed out that there was in fact a planet there.
Prathesthiy was covered in dark clouds, camouflaging into the background of space quite well. It was very hard to see unless you were deliberately looking for it, and even then, it was still hard to notice.
“Should we go there?” Viktor asked JJ. JJ nodded, now looking extremely excited at the prospect of exploring another planet. Viktor steered the ship towards Prathesthiy, and they began their descent, landing successfully soon after.
The terrain of Prathesthiy was bright under the incredibly dark clouds. It was eye-blindingly colorful with tall, twisty looking cities looming in the distance. Viktor and JJ stepped out of the ship, where they were immediately greeted by…giant hamsters.
They heard a squeak next to them, and saw a brown hamster with gray spots. It wore a black cap too. It tried squeaking at them, as if to communicate. Viktor and JJ shook their heads. The hamster pulled out a rectangular box and squeaked into it. Surprisingly, Viktor and JJ could understand it completely now.
“Welcome to the happy planet of Prathesthiy, travelers! What brings you here?” the hamster asked. Viktor shrugged his shoulders and tried to tell the hamster that Prathesthiy was the first planet they had come across, and that they were new to space travel. The hamster gave him the box.
“I said,” Viktor paused, “That we are new space travelers and Prathesthiy was the first planet we came-”
“I’M THE KING JJ!” JJ interrupted.
The hamster took the box back and grinned in a way that only hamsters can, “Oh I see. Come! You’ll have fun here in Prathesthiy. My name is Phichit by the way, and I’m the official greeter for anyone unfamiliar that decides to visit here…although we haven’t had many come here in a while.”
Viktor and JJ followed Phichit. After walking for a few minutes, they arrived at the main city. “Phichit, where are we going?” JJ asked.
Phichit replied, “You’re going to need better communication than that box if you’re wanting to be space travelers. Hey, but can we take a picture in front of this coffee shop? This view is aesthetic.”
Viktor stared, “How do hamsters take pictures…?”
Phichit grinned and took out smaller rectangle, “This is a phone specially designed for life forms that don’t have opposable thumbs!” He pressed a paw on the screen, and a hologram appeared in front of him. He swiped and tapped a few times on the hologram and then said, “Smile, everyone!” The picture was taken, and Phichit posted it on what looked like a social networking site, “They call me Hamster King of Social Media for a reason,” Phichit declared proudly.
They moved on from the café, and arrived at a small store called “Universal Communications”. The shop, as promised, was filled with communication gadgets of all kinds. Phichit led them to an aisle near the back, and pointed to a rack of moustaches, “Those are the most reliable and probably the most permanent translator you can have,” he said.
“The…mustaches?” Viktor asked.
Phichit nodded, “You eat them. They’re nontoxic and won’t get stuck in your throat, I promise.” Viktor and JJ looked warily at the mustaches, wondering if Phichit was trying to kill them. “They also make excellent selfie props if you decide not to eat them!” Phichit exclaimed happily. JJ decided Phichit was too innocent to be plotting anything bad. Viktor was still wary. Phichit bought two mustaches, one for Viktor and one for JJ.
“Eat them,” Phichit directed, “Nothing bad will happen.” JJ took a small bite of a mustache. It was hairy and felt weird, but that was to be expected. Surprisingly though, it was kind of delicious. The mustache had a slightly sweet, but nutty flavor. It also tasted a bit like over the counter medicine. Suddenly, he could understand all the hamsters around them. Without much thought, he quickly ate the rest of the mustache.
Viktor sniffed the mustache but didn’t eat it. There was something off about this. One does not just simply eat facial hair. He pretended to take a bite, but slipped it in his pocket instead.
Phichit led them to a restaurant. “You must be hungry,” he said, “Let me treat you to one of the best dining spots in the universe. You’ll never want to leave once you’ve eaten here.” Viktor and JJ followed him.
Delicious aromas hit their senses as soon as they stepped in. They could smell the various rich scent spices, and the sugary scent of cake, among other things. They sat down at a booth and waited for someone to take their order.
Soon, a hamster in a worker’s uniform approached them. Viktor could not understand the
sequence of squeaks, but judging by JJ’s response, the hamster must have asked, “How may I take your order?”
He ordered something that looked like a cheesecake, while Phichit and JJ ordered something similar to pancakes. They waited a little while, and the food soon arrived.
The food was so delicious that JJ swore his taste buds had died and gone to heaven. It was all gone before he even realized it. He then ordered seconds, and then thirds, until he was so full he felt as if he would explode he took another bite. He still wanted more of those soft, buttery pancakes.
Viktor did not experience such things. To him, all the food looked like gray gloop mixed with bits of nuts. Utterly disgusting. He could not understand why JJ was eating his food so ravenously when it had the texture of lumpy toy slime and taste equivalent to that of dog feces. Then it hit him. The mustaches…why would they do this?
He toyed uncomfortably with his “cheesecake”. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Phichit eyeing him curiously. Did he do this on purpose? Viktor proceeded to push the plate away from him, “I’m not hungry.”
Soon after finishing his pancakes, JJ passed out. Phichit’s eyes narrowed, and he whispered threateningly to Viktor, “You didn’t eat the mustache, did you?” His eyes were starting to glow red.
Viktor shook his head, grabbed JJ, and booked it. JJ was heavy, but adrenaline gave Viktor extra strength, and he was already in top physical condition. Viktor had just carried JJ out a few steps, when the café suddenly exploded. Bit of wood and metal flew around them. Phichit had smashed the wall, and was now coming after them like some giant fluffy adorable ball of doom. Which is exactly what he was. This spurred on Viktor further and he ran faster. He quickly hijacked a hamster ball, and threw it at Phichit.
When the hamster ball collided with Phichit, he stopped in his tracks. Phichit was now twitching erratically, with electrical sparks running all over his body, and a distorted voice that sounded somewhat like the Phichit that had greeted them when Viktor and JJ first arrived squeaked, “COMPLETE SYSTEM FAILURE. SELF-DESTRUCTION: COMMENCING IN 3…” Viktor bolted out of there. “2….” He was almost out of the city… “1…SELF-DESTRUCTION INITIATED.” Viktor was now far out of blast radius, and watched the street and the streets around it blew up, shattered into little smithereens. He saw a lot of the hamsters glaring at him, slowly approaching him. The ship was only a few meters away. His arms and legs were hurting like all hell, but he had to do it. Painstakingly, Viktor somehow sprinted the last couple of meters to the ship. As soon as he reached the door, there was a hamster there, ready to block him off. Viktor threateningly brandished his knife shoes, and the hamster backed off, allowing Viktor to rush inside the ship and slam the door shut.
He ran over to the control panel, and then, with hamsters ramming themselves against the ship, he managed to lift the ship off of the ground and shake off any remaining hamsters. Viktor raced out of the atmosphere of Prathesthiy, panic coursing through his veins. He turned the ship on autopilot to give his arms and legs a rest. Stretching, he walked over to JJ and patted his forehead. Viktor hoped JJ was ok, as the other was still out cold. He carried JJ into the sleeping quarters and placed him on a bed, before climbing into another bed himself. The ship would be alright flying by itself for a few hours.
Viktor drifted off into a fitful sleep.
Chapter 3
When Viktor awoke again, he fell off the bed. Muttering curses under his breath, he looked at JJ on one of other beds, and saw a pair of…hamster ears? Viktor had to admit, it was kind of adorable. He bounced on the other male’s bed in attempt to wake him up. JJ’s eyes flew open and he groaned as he sat up.
“I feel like…I feel like…I have a hangover…” JJ grumbled. He rubbed the top of his head when he felt a pair of fuzzy things that he didn’t recall being on his head. Suddenly feeling very awake, he jumped up from the bed, dislocating Viktor in the process. He looked into a nearby reflective window. The JJ reflected back at him had hamster ears. JJ cautiously pet his hamster ears. They were soft and fluffy. The king certainly could rock this look.
Meanwhile, Viktor had found something interesting. Because JJ had gotten up so fast, Viktor landed on the floor and had rolled to a previously unexplored corner of the room. There, he found a large metal object.
Upon further investigation, the object was an android. It had light, unruly brown hair, and a sparkly blue suit. A scruffy beard adorned the bottom half of its face. The android appeared to have been there for watching over the ship while no one was there to man it. Viktor carefully poked it, filled with paranoia. The thing seemed to be stable. Searching around, he found an instruction manual. He looked warily at the android, and flipped to the page with all the parts labeled. The android didn’t seem to have any trackers, nor did it look to be unsafe. Viktor felt around its back and found a power switch on the neck. He flipped it.
Immediately, Viktor felt a faint vibrating through the metal. Then, the android stood up, eyes starting to glow blue. The glow intensified, and then regulated. The android stood still for a few seconds, as if trying to gain its bearings, or perhaps it was just doing a few automatic system repairs. Then, it knelt down, and enthusiastically shook Viktor’s hand, “Hi! I’m Emil, guardian of the Victory! Who are you, and how may I be of your assistance?”
Viktor blinked and smiled his heart shaped smile, “I’m Viktor. Nice to meet you, Emil!” The android bounced back to his feet, and almost tripped on his charging cable. Viktor stifled a giggle, and Emil detached himself from the wall.
By this point, JJ had detached himself from the reflective window, and was staring at Emil with undisguised awe. Emil noticed him and practically bounded over. “Hi! I’m Emil, guardian of the Victory! Who are you, and how may I be of your assistance?” he greeted JJ.
JJ clapped his hands gleefully, “I’m King JJ, captain of this ship-”
Viktor coughed loudly and muttered under his breath, “And I smell some bullshit.”
JJ continued on as if Viktor hadn’t said anything. “And he’s my royal subject. I don’t know where we’re headed, but we’ll have fun all the while.”
Emil saluted and said, “You should stop by Obchodovani soon. It’s a universal trading spot, only 2 light years away, and you need more supplies.”
“Do you know how to get there?” Viktor asked.
“If it’s okay with the captain, I can fly the ship.” Emil looked back and forth between Viktor and JJ, still unsure which one was captain.
They both told Emil to go ahead as they glared at each other. Not long after, they laughed it off, but both knew the debate was not settled.
Soon, Emil called JJ and Viktor over. “We have arrived at Obchodovani. Should I land?” he asked. Viktor nodded, and so did JJ. Emil proceeded to fly the ship into the planet. This one looked much more friendly than Prathesthiy. It was a pretty blue color, with bits of orange dotted here and there. They landed on a road that had a plethora of other aircraft stationed on it and stepped out. “The market isn’t far from here,” Emil said. When he looked back, he saw the other two distracted, enraptured by the sights of the foreign planet.
On the travel to the market (which wasn’t very long), they came across a multitude of different creatures, all of which looked very busy. Viktor and JJ could not help staring. Soon, they arrived. There were even more creatures at the market. Colorful foods lined the shop windows, with high tech items almost right next to them. Shops of all sizes and shapes seemed to stretch on forever in the street.
“Do you guys think I can get a translator that doesn’t involve me eating mustaches and growing hamster ears?” Viktor inquired.
“You should go to Otabek’s Multi-Dimensional Translators and Motorcycles for that. You’ll also probably need disguises because pretty much the entire galaxy will be after you because you assisted in killing the Hamster King of Social Media,” Emil advised cheerfully.
JJ was shocked, “How do you know all of this?”
“The intergalactic social media is very complex nowadays. When a user dies, it automatically makes a post on how they died, and you two are no doubt featured in that post. Because you took a selfie with him at a coffee shop, everyone knows what you look like. He had literally billions of followers too,” Emil informed, still way too happy, “I know this because I’m a very advanced android and can access all the data on the intergalactic internet.”
Viktor pointed to a nearby shop, “Georgi’s Costume and Make-Up shop is nearby. How about we go there for disguises?” The exterior of the shop was a dark, sparkly purple, and a pair of make-up caked eyes surrounded the sign. They walked into the shop and a small tinkling bell announced their entrance. A man with a black pompadour and extremely dramatic purple make-up sat behind the counter. As they walked closer, they could see very visible tear tracks down his face. The man noticed their presence and greeted them with a half-smile.
They walked through the store, pausing occasionally to look at wigs and outfits that looked acceptable. Viktor eventually decided on wearing a mask that had bright shiny teal melting into gold. He would cut is hair later. JJ found a nice green suit and put on a purple mask, then proceeding to style his hair straight, but curving it around his hamster ears. They walked to the checkout counter where Georgi himself was waiting.
As JJ handed Georgi the mask, Georgi put his hand on JJ’s shoulder. “Anya used to love the color purple…that was one of her favorite items in this store,” he sighed. JJ was somewhat creeped out by this gesture, mumbled a quick thanks, and took the mask and suit. Viktor proceeded to give his mask to Georgi. Apparently, Georgi was not done talking about “Anya”. He sighed once more and a single tear ran down his face, “She used to wear a dress that had the same colors as that…It matched so well with a purple mask. My Anya, she was beau-”
Emil quickly stepped in before Georgi could ramble more. “While we would love to hear more about Anya, we need to go places. I’m sorry, Georgi, but farewell, and good luck with Anya, even though I don’t even know what happened.” He took Viktor and JJ by the arms and marched them out of the store, leaving the heartbroken shopkeeper to wail once again about his Anya.
Emil breathed a sigh of relief when he stepped out of the shop (well he didn’t exactly breathe), and said, “It’s time to go to Otabek’s first. Hopefully he won’t try to tell us everything about his love life…”
After a few minutes of walking, they arrived at a gray building, which was a drastic change from all the bright and colorful structures surrounding it. Upon entering the shop, they saw the shopkeeper sweeping the floor while attending to the hundreds of gadgets on the walls and motorcycles in the middle of the room. He seemed to be a gray life form known by some as an “octopus”, or something like it, as he was able to breathe on land.
Viktor coughed, “Excuse me sir…is it Otabek? May we have your best universal translator?”
Otabek jiggled his body over to one of the shelves and pointed a tentacle to one of the devices. “Most of my items have similar quality, but this shelf contains my best,” he said. His voice was distorted, almost intelligible, and his stoic expression never changed.
Viktor, JJ and Emil stepped over to the shelf. Their eyes bright with excitement, Viktor and JJ examined the objects with unparalleled glee, fascinated by the devices in their hands. Eventually, Viktor picked out a small gadget he could attach to his ear. “How much does this cost?”
Otabek thoughtfully looked at the device and grumbled out, “That’ll be…500 coins.”
Viktor fished around his pockets and brought out a Glavnayan bill equal to 500 coins. “Will this do?” he questioned.
Otabek nodded and took the bill. “Thank you, have a good time on your travels,” he said, face blank as ever, and showed them to the door.
Trekking back to the ship, Viktor laughed joyously as he listened to all the voices of creatures throughout the universe. It was like a while new world had been opened up to him.
JJ smiled at him and chuckled, “It’s exciting, isn’t it?” Viktor nodded, and as they walked back in a comfortable silence, they even heard their names and Phichit’s mentioned several times.
Upon arriving back at the ship, they found that the door slightly ajar, unlocked.
Chapter 4
“Did you forget to lock the ship?” JJ asked Viktor, a hint of annoyance showing on his face.
Viktor answered, “…I must have forgotten. You know how I am with memory, right?”
Emil pushed open the door. “We should check everything to make sure nothing has been tampered with or stolen,” he stated, still in the annoyingly cheerful tone.
They decided to split up and search for anything that seemed out of place or missing. Soon, they all met back up together. Nothing seemed amiss, and they all breathed a sigh of relief. This time, JJ took to the controls, and they lifted off. Since everyone needed to sleep, and Emil needed to charge, JJ left the ship on autopilot before dozing off.
Viktor awoke to the sound of rustling. His eyes took their sweet time adjusting to the darkness, and as he squinted, he decided his brain was too tired for this, and tried to go back to sleep. Still, an unsettling feeling that something wasn’t right kept nagging at him. Finally succumbing to that feeling, he stumbled out of the sleeping room.
As Viktor trudged around the ship, he started feeling like this was all a waste of time. He was missing his beauty sleep, dammit! Then, as he was about to leave the kitchen, a shadowy figure slipped by his peripheral vision. He was standing next to a convenient light switch, and mumbled a tired, “Who be?” before switching on the lights and then swearing while regretting his life decisions. Meanwhile, the shadowy figure had gone away, and Viktor mumbled another string of drowsy swears. At this point, he assumed that the figure was just a part of his half-asleep imagination, before he saw it slip by another door.
Viktor was beginning to get annoyed. “Who are you?” he asked, agitation at the tip of his tongue. “I’m not going to hurt you, but I would like to go back to sleep.” There was only silence at these words, and Viktor sighed. He hated to do this, but he walked over to the control panel and slapped the alarm button, alerting everyone of an intruder and probably scaring the ever loving hell out of JJ. The alarm rang, and JJ jumped out of the chair, flailing and tumbling to the floor. Viktor wheezed in laughter.
“whAAAA-HAhnnngh-oof- TURN THAT FUCKING ALARM OFF!” JJ’s startled screams rang through the ship, and Viktor swore he heard the faintest chuckle somewhere. Soon, after JJ had gotten his bearings, he glared at Viktor and grumbled, “You asshole. What happened?”
Viktor cleared his throat and winked, “There’s an intruder on this ship. They won’t reveal themselves, and you’re a heavy sleeper, so what can I say except you’re welcome.”
JJ blinked, and he reluctantly accepted the fact that Viktor had good reason to wake him up. “Okay, I’m going to go turn on Emil, and we’ll split up and try to find him.” Viktor nodded, and began searching in the kitchen where he first saw the figure. But nobody came.
Soon, Viktor heard a call from Emil, as he just used his built-in scanner and tracked down the intruder almost immediately. The intruder was in a random storage room. Viktor accidently stopped by several rooms before finally stopping at the right one. The trespasser had almost shoulder-length dark brown hair and a nervous grin. He had tan skin that melted into fur and goat legs. Some organisms call these creatures “satyrs”. Viktor was ready to jump at him with his knife shoes if the satyr tried anything funny, and he made a point of this by pointing at his activated shoes and smiling threateningly.
“H-hi I’m Leo,” the young man stuttered out. He was clearly nervous, as one naturally was when you had two sleepy, annoyed men, one with knife shoes, and a multifunctional android staring at you.
“Would you like to tell us who you are and why you’re here?” Viktor asked, voice cold as the ice only found at the furthest reaches of any given solar system.
“Er…I’m a traveling merchant, and my ship was hijacked and stolen on Obchodovani. It was parked right next to yours. I probably should have locked it. So I boarded your ship because I needed some form of travel. It was also unlocked and nearby. It wasn’t long before I heard you people walk on, and I hid myself in the hidden rooms usually in furthest reaches of every ship that most people don’t realize exist. Any more questions?”
Viktor squinted at Leo, “Nah, I don’t buy it.”
“Look man, do you want proof?” Leo asked anxiously. Viktor squinted more, but nodded. JJ had gone at this point, too sleepy to care that much, as he figured Viktor would be pissed enough to deal with the intruder on his own.
Leo beckoned for Viktor and Emil to follow him. They went through many hallways before entering through a wall, surprisingly. Viktor and Emil were greeted with the sight of several bags and an ukulele. The bags were filled with goods. Leo walked over to one of them and pulled out a card.
Pointing at the card, Leo said with a hint of agitation in his tone, “See here? It says ‘Leo De La Iglesia: Certified Traveling Merchant’. Look, it even has an official universal council stamp.”
Viktor was finally convinced, and deactivated his knife shoes. “Fine, I believe you. But we’re going to drop you off at the nearest planet, okay? How did you even find this place?”
Leo was relieved, “…I accidently tripped over one of my bags and fell into the wall. How far away is the nearest planet anyways?”
Viktor groaned, and led Leo to the control panel, which was literally on the opposite side of the ship.
“We’re approximately…fifty light years away from the nearest habitable planet that isn’t Obchodovani.” Viktor sighed, “It’s gonna take around 49 hours, so settle in, but don’t get too comfortable.”
“Okay! I can play the ukulele and sing for you as payme-” Leo was cut off.
“Please don’t, I need sleep. I guess we’ll allow you to sleep in one of the beds on the ship.” Viktor grumbled. Leo nodded, and they headed to the sleeping quarters. “Emil, please keep an eye on our new friend. I don’t completely trust him yet,” Viktor commanded. Emil saluted.
A few hours later, Viktor awoke to the sound of the cheerful playing of an ukulele. He rolled over, but tumbled to the floor again. Wearily blinking his sleep-drunk eyes, he stood up, stretched, and looked around for the ukulele noise. Faint words passed through his hearing, “…wherever I go, god stays with me.” He could see that JJ, Emil, and the stowaway…what was his name again? Viktor couldn’t remember too well. Sounds of applause came through the door as Emil and JJ congratulated Leo. Right, the stowaway’s name was Leo. They were already awake, and Leo was strumming his instrument, singing a cheerful tune. His voice was rich and beautiful. It warmed you like the sun right after a long, cold winter. Viktor decided this wasn’t the worst to way to wake up.
Just as he was about to greet his friends and Leo, he paused and observed them from afar. They all looked so happy, bright smiles as they sang along to the tune, albeit off key. Viktor grinned because he hadn’t ever seen his crew members smile this much before. Maybe this stowaway wasn’t so bad after all. He almost didn’t want to let Leo leave in forty-two hours.
“Good morning everyone! I see Leo has fit himself quite well into this little group!”
“Hi...uh…you didn’t tell me your name yesterday.”
“Viktor. Nice to meet you too.”
The next forty-two hours were spent getting to know each other, sleeping, more singing, admiring the cosmos, playing random games, and a social media break.
“Hey, aren’t you people the guys who blew up Phichit?” Leo inquired curiously after tapping through his phone for a few minutes.
“Self-defense! We weren’t trying to blow him up! In fact, I quite liked him!” JJ said defensively.
“I wasn’t even activated yet,” Emil looked up from where he was fiddling with a random metal bit.
“Ok, but why would you blow him up? What did he even do?” Leo asked.
Viktor tapped his chin in thought, “See, he was a friendly guy at first. Shit happened and I ended up throwing a hamster ball at him. And before you know it, the Hamster King of Social Media is now the Hamster King of Death by Hamster Ball.”
Leo blinked disbelievingly, and then just accepted the explanation. He looked at the navigation panel, and saw they were less than a light year away from the nearest habitable planet: Tiandian. “We’re almost there… I think I might miss you guys, despite only knowing you for 49 hours.”
“We’re not going to leave immediately after dropping you off…we’re going to explore it too!” Viktor said, eyes lighting up.
“It apparently has the most delectable sweets and bakery treats in the entire universe,” Emil informed, “I’d love to go there!”
The last thirty minutes on the ship were spent with slightly melancholic, but still happy chatter. It died down when JJ called they were landing soon. The atmosphere of Tiandian was tinted a pastel cotton candy pink. They plunged into the atmosphere, and crystals of sugar lined the swirled candy pathways. The ship plopped down near a small café. Everyone aboard the ship hopped off, and this time, Viktor made sure to lock the ship.
Chapter 5
They decided to enter the cafe. It was very cozy, with gray paint and homey paintings covering the walls and light brown wooden floors. A small man sipping an extra creamy spiced caramel rainbow swirl macchiato and a light fluffy cinnamon roll with extra cinnamon sat at one of the tables, scrolling through his Galaxy Phone 101. He had messy light brown hair and a smattering of freckles across his cheeks. He was also a satyr.
Leo stopped dead when he saw the man, and his face lit up. “G-guang! Ji-ji! It’s been a long time!”
The man at the table almost spat out his coffee before quickly swallowing it down, looking at Leo in shock. An adorable smile and a blush spread across his cheeks as he almost knocked down the table to leap into Leo’s arms.
“Leo! Where have you been? You were supposed to meet me on Huiyi a month ago!” the man muttered, rubbing his face in Leo’s sweatshirt.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry… I wish I could have, but business affairs popped up, and then my ship got hijacked…I hope you don’t mind too much.” Leo sighed patting the man’s hair.
“Are they…dating or something?” Viktor whispered to JJ, accidently a bit too loud.
Leo and the man’s cheeks flushed, before Leo said, “No um…. fuck I forgot to introduce you.” The man shifted a little behind Leo. He seemed shy. “Guys, this is Guangdong. He’s my best friend and local food enthusiast. Ji, the one with the silver hair is Viktor. He and JJ are the captains of the ship. The one with the black hair is JJ. Emil is the one with the brown hair. He’s an android,” Leo introduced everyone.
“Nice to meet you,” Guang Hong moved to shake hands with the crew members. He still had a shy smile and a flushed face. When he got to Emil, the android gave him a big bear hug.
Guang stiffened in shock, but hesitantly returned the hug. He backed off soon, and somewhat relieved, and returned to Leo’s side.
“Are you people going to get food?” Guang Hong asked, “Its super good. I recommend the sugary vanilla bean cinnamon roll.”
They stepped to the counter and ordered their respective food items. Soon, the orders arrived. As soon as the icy mocha latte with extra whipped cream, peppermint sprinkles, and a cherry on top hit Viktor’s tongue, he knew he had died and gone to heaven. The sweet taste of peppermint blended into the rich coffee taste in a heavenly manner, and a bit of whipped cream topped it all off with a bit of fluff that was creamy yet light. A succulent, enticing red cherry decorated the top as he saved it for last. The entire thing just melted on his tongue pleasantly, and Viktor almost moaned. Before he knew it, he was finished. A sweet, icy taste still lingered. There was still that juicy red cherry left. He raised the moist cherry to his lips, licking it before biting down on it, letting the juices flow into his mouth. The heavenly juice traveled down his esophagus and he didn’t think he could ever grow tired of it. All too soon, he finished the rest of the cherry.
“That was definitely the most delicious thing I’ve ever had…” Viktor breathed out, stars in his eyes.
“I know right? That’s why I decided to live here,” Guang Hong munched on his cinnamon roll.
Emil had finished his milkshake before Viktor and was staring at JJ, who was taking his sweet time finishing his sugary vanilla bean cinnamon roll. The man looked like he was enjoying it way too much. But with food items like these, it was hard to judge what counted as enjoying something too much. Was there really such a thing as enjoying oneself too much? Soon, JJ finished as well, and the group headed out to explore the streets with Guang Hong being a tour guide. Leo kept his merchant bags with him, so he tried selling some of his goods to passerby.
Guang Hong led them down the streets of Tiandian, and they figured out the city they were in was called Rouguijan. They pathways were covered with miscellaneous sweet food stands, making it hard for Viktor to resist impulse buying all the foods he saw. They just all looked so delicious. The buildings also had some interesting architecture, with a mix of skyscrapers and plain flat lands. They explored the city for another two hours, before finally deciding it was time to leave. Soon, they arrived back at the ship.
“Are you two not coming with us?” Viktor asked when he, Emil, and JJ all boarded the ship but Guang Hong and Leo stayed where they were. They shook their heads.
“We’ve really enjoyed our time with you, but I honestly don’t think traveling the cosmos as anything other than a merchant and a loner is for me,” Leo said shaking his head, albeit sadly, “And Jiji is still studying.”
“Oh…then do you have any SNS accounts?” JJ inquired. Leo and Guang Hong nodded.
They exchanged social media accounts and a few last hugs before JJ, Emil, and Viktor stepped back on the ship and the doors shut behind them.
Right before the doors closed, they heard Guang Hong ask, “Hey Leo, when I finish my studies, can I travel with you?”
“Always Guang, always.”
JJ started up the ship again and Viktor looked out of the window to see Leo and Guang Hong waving at them from the ground. Viktor and Emil furiously waved back before the ship took off and zoomed out of the atmosphere.
I N T E R L U D E
Viktor, JJ, and Emil traveled the universe at will, occasionally completing quests and conquering pirate ships for money. They became the Vigilantes of the Universe, and were somewhat legends. Sometimes, they arranged meetings with Guang Hong and Leo, or other friends they made along their travels. This continued for several years until at one point in time…
Chapter 6
It had been 8 years since Viktor and JJ set out from Glavnaya. They made history and were well known across the universe. On this day, Viktor was driving the ship, Emil was cleaning the kitchen, and JJ was taking a nap.
“Would it be okay to visit Glavnaya?” Viktor wondered, “It’s been 8 years, surely they would have forgotten us by now.”
“You forget that we’re famous space vigilantes,” Emil called from the kitchen, “They’ll probably recognize us.”
“Yeah but…” For the first time in forever, Viktor felt a twinge of homesickness. He shook it off and focused on steering the ship. “But what if we wear disguises?”
“You also forget that almost every planet has DNA tracking systems now. They’d most likely still have your baby DNA.” Emil replied.
“Your right,” Viktor sighed, “Emil, can you steer the ship?”
“I’m cooking, sorry.”
Something at the back of Viktor’s mind made him want to say ‘Hi cooking, sorry, I’m dad’, but he instead pouted and said, “I can try to cook…”
“The last time you tried to cook, you almost poisoned us,” Emil was adamant about not letting Viktor cook.
Viktor sighed again, “True true, but I just want to rest right now. I’ll turn the ship on autopilot.”
Emil nodded, but then remembered Viktor couldn’t see him. “Okay,” he called. Soon, he finished cleaning the kitchen. On his way to his charging port, he accidently tripped over a stack of books. His back slammed into a button no one had found over the course of 8 years. Suddenly, the ship was surrounded with a plethora of bright colors inside a spinning tunnel of sorts. Now that he thought about it, he remembered something…interesting one of the scientists had said during the time of his construction.
Emil laid still on the lab table, not that he could really move around. After all, he was just a head and a torso with a tangled bunch of wires and the ability to think. Scientists walked by, often carrying metal bits. They were constructing the Victory, or so he heard. “Lilia, this time travel contraption is untested. Are you really sure you want to put it on the Victory? Please don’t be too brash.” An old scientist with a fedora was speaking.
“It must be put into the Victory. Otherwise, It’ll never be tested,” Lilia’s voice was cool and determined.
The old scientist tipped his fedora at her, “Do what you must then, but please make the activation button hard to find.”
“Well I guess I must have accidently activated that contraption then…” Emil whispered to himself. He decided not to say anything.
When Viktor woke up, he immediately noticed something was different. For one, there were more celestial bodies in the surrounding area than usual. Everything seemed to glow brightly, and the fiery stars seemed to be at the brink of explosion. Viktor peered out the window curiously, and saw that the ship was steering to a nearby planet. The navigation panel said they were heading towards Saishu Mokutekichi. In all of his years traveling, Viktor had never even heard a mention of this planet. It seemed to be very… rainbow and dazzling. The navigation panel also said that there were life forms and it was habitable. He decided to take control of the ship and steer towards it. He still had no idea what was going on, or why the sky was unusually bedazzling, or why everything was so close together, but maybe that planet had answers.
JJ had finally woken up and trudged into the room. “…what’s up with space?” he murmured sleepily.
Viktor shrugged, “I don’t know, but I’m steering towards this random planet to find answers.”
JJ accepted this answer, and they soon landed on the mysterious rainbow planet of Saishu Mokutekichi. Colorful swirls of various harmless gases filled the air, and the ground practically glowed. Tufts of bright, lush springy grass covered it. Golden particles, almost like stardust, surrounded them. Strange creature noises resonated throughout the place. It all felt…magical. In the horizon stood a squat but fairly large house, situated between the looming trunks of two giant trees. Viktor, JJ, and Emil stepped out onto this strange planet.
A man with jet black hair and blue glasses playfully danced around the building with a big yellow space chicken. Soon, he noticed the travelers and the government-issue space cruiser.
“V-Viktor! JJ! Emil! Welcome back! It’s been a while since you last visited,” the man greeted. The chicken crowed happily, ruffling his bright yellow feathers.
“How do you know our names?!” Viktor asked, “More importantly, where are we?”
“You’re on Saishu Mokutekichi at almost the end of all time…I mean, I thought you knew that,” the man tapped his chin thoughtfully, “In all the years I’ve known you, you’ve had a bad memory, but never on this scale…”
“Who are you?!” Viktor and JJ screamed in near unison.
“E-eh? How do you not remember me? Wait…this is probably your first trip here! Heh, you always seemed to know me before…maybe this is why. In that case, welcome, I’m Yuuri Katsuki,” Yuuri finally introduced himself, slightly bashful.
“…I would introduce myself, but you seem to already know who we are,” Viktor stated.
`Yuuri laughed lightly, “I suppose so. Come into the house then. We have cookies…and other people.”
As they walked to the house, Viktor noticed Yuuri had a nice ass.
When they arrived, they were greeted by a pretty woman with short black hair. “Yuuri, where were you? It’s time for foo- oh my, we certainly weren’t expecting you today, Emil, Viktor, JJ.” Her eyes softened a little when she said ‘JJ”. She proceeded to give them all a big hug.
JJ pushed her off of him, but didn’t shove too hard, “Seriously, who are you people?” The woman looked hurt and a little bit embarrassed.
“JJ, darling do you not remember me?” the woman asked, “I’m Isabella, your wife.”
“…No?” JJ was confused.
“Isabella, it appears we have finally found their first time meeting us,” said Yuuri, “Therefore, they don’t really know us. It’s a little bit ironic isn’t it? The universe on the verge of collapse, and them meeting us for the first time, though they have encountered us many times before.”
“Oh, well that makes sense,” Isabella looked a bit sullen, but she accepted it.
Viktor interrupted, “How do we get out of this weird dimension?”
“It’s not another dimension, it’s the end of this universe…time-wise. There’s approximately…twenty days before it ends. Everything is almost completely crunched together,” Yuuri informed.
“How are we not dead?” JJ wondered.
“This, the great planet of Saishu Mokutekichi is the planet of the starchildren. We’ve been watching over the cosmos since more or less the beginning of time, or time in this universe. And since we need to watch over this universe until its collapse, this planet is completely protected from all the dangers out there. So even if a star is only one dor away, we wouldn’t exactly be screwed.”
Viktor was startled, “Wait, how did we get here? Where we came from, the end of the universe was super far away…”
“I think our ship has a time travel function. I accidently fell into the activation button,” Emil admitted sheepishly, “I guess it was set to this time, but actually I’m not too sure how it works. I hope the button isn’t broken from having a one hundred twenty-five-kilogram android slam into it.”
“…Let’s check first!” Yuuri suggested after a moment of silence. They went to the ship, and Emil detected that miraculously, nothing much was broken, just the outer button. That in itself would take around ten days to fix, since it was ridiculously meticulously hooked up to so many wires, and some of those wires would have to be fixed.
“That’s fine then. We should move this stack of books so no one trips over them again,” Viktor said with his oddly menacing heart-shaped smile.
“Heh…sorry,” Emil looked very embarrassed.
JJ patted his head, “It’s fine, as long as we can fix this.”
Suddenly, Viktor felt a sharp jab at his feet. The space chicken that was playing with Yuuri earlier happily pecked Viktor’s toes (Viktoes). “Whose chicken is this?” he asked as he picked up the chicken and looked at it. The chicken had a bright yellow color to his feathers and was extremely adorable. A vibrant red comb perched on his head, with a splotch of red feathers on the left side of his head. The chicken tilted his head and cooed curiously at Viktor. Viktor stared at the chicken, and cautiously pet his feathers. The chicken snuggled against him.
Yuuri smiled, “It seems like Minami likes you.” The chicken trilled in agreement, and then leapt into Yuuri’s arms as if to say, ‘but I like him better’. Yuuri set Minami back down on the ground, and the chicken rubbed himself against Yuuri’s legs, wanting cuddles. Yuuri pet the chicken, “Viktor, meet Minami, local space chicken with a tragic backstory. I guess you could call him my chicken, but he doesn’t really have an owner…we should fix the ship before we run out of time.”
Viktor was befuddled why Yuuri changed the subject, but nodded. A loud crash sounded from somewhere, making them jump.
“Sara, please go oil yourself, we don’t want your joints to get creaky again! And have you-”
“Mickey. I’m perfectly capable of taking care of myself. You’re making my head overheat.”
“See, you need to oil your joints, and now you should go-”
Yuuri smiled, amused, “That would be the android twins. They’re uh, an interesting pair. Michele is really protective about Sara.”
“I can tell.”
“I think Isabella called them to help work on the ship. With their help, the process should take around nine days.” Yuuri said, “To be honest, we should probably go help them right now.”
“Awwww, but there’s a happy little space chicken sleeping on your feet,” Viktor cooed.
Yuuri sighed, and then picked up Minami. The chicken squawked in surprise, but settled for a small glare in Yuuri’s direction. “Sorry Minami, but I have to move,” The chicken reluctantly got off of Yuuri’s feet. They looked over to the other people and saw JJ and Isabella debating where a certain wire should hook up. Michele didn’t seem to like Emil, probably because Emil was trying to talk with his twin. Minami was there too, running around like a headless chicken, even though he did have a head.
Chapter 7
The next few days were filled with productivity as everyone worked together to fix the button. They took breaks in shifts, so Viktor and Yuuri were the only ones working at that moment. Yuuri felt some sort of bond between all of them, a bond like that of atoms among the brightest stars, and he really didn’t want these people leave so soon.
“Hey Viktor,” he said as he hooked up two more wires. The two of them were standing closer together than usual, and maybe it was just because there wasn’t that much space around the button, but Yuuri felt all warm and fuzzy inside.
Viktor looked up, “Yes?”
“I wouldn’t mind... I don’t think anyone would mind really, if you guys stayed here for a few more days…” Yuuri looked the other direction as he said this.
“Really?” Viktor face lit up with his heart-shaped smile, “I was going to ask if we could stay here for a few more days, but I guess I don’t need to.”
Yuuri smiled, a warm smile that could warm the coldest of souls. It certainly warmed Viktor. “We’re almost done fixing it, and there’s a giant lake that’s in perpetual freeze not too far from here. Shall we skate sometime?”
“Ice skating? What’s that?” Viktor was genuinely perplexed.
Yuuri stared at Viktor, “You’re Glavnayan, yet you don’t know what ice skating is?”
“No? Glavnaya never had ice, it was always warm or really hot.”
“Right, you came from when Glavnaya was still warm,” Yuuri said thoughtfully.
Viktor looked curiously at Yuuri, “What happened to Glavnaya?”
“Glavnaya doesn’t exist.”
“Eh?”
“Glavnaya turned more or less into ice and was swallowed by a black hole just nine thousand years ago,” Yuuri clarified.
“Ohh…” Viktor connected two more wires, “It’s strange knowing your planet doesn’t exist…” “Yeah.”
The two worked in comfortable silence for a while before Viktor remembered why the topic of Glavnaya’s death had been brought up. “So Yuuri, what’s ice skating?”
“You know what water is, right?”
“Of course.”
“Well sometimes, large bodies of water are frozen into ice, and you can even sing, jump, walk, run, do all sorts of stuff on it,” Yuuri explained.
Viktor looked incredibly confused. “What sorts of magical sorcery do you need to freeze that much water?”
Yuuri laughed, “You just need to have really cold temperatures, that’s all. And the only reason that lake stays cold all the time is because there’s an incubus that enjoys the cold who lives around there. He’s relatively friendly, and can probably teach you a few tricks on the ice… Unless he manages to seduce you, which mean you’ll have a very different experience that night.”
Viktor looked a lot less confused, but it was replaced with wonder. “Amazing! How do you ice skate then?”
“Uh…so you have blades on your shoes, and you…walk I guess, on them on the ice, and you end up gliding somewhat? They’re called ice skates,” Yuuri tried to explain.
“Wow, so I’ve been wearing ice skates this entire time!” Viktor activated his knife shoes, and the blades slid out. “See? They have blades! You skate on your toes?”
“No Viktor, those are knife shoes, not ice skates! Ice skates have blades on the bottom, not the toes!” Yuuri chuckled.
“Well I guess I have to see for myself what this fascinating thing is with you later. Can JJ, Emil, Isa, Sara, Mickey, and Minami come too?”
Yuuri grinned, “Well of course! I was planning on them joining us. You know, as kind of an outing for everyone here.”
By now, they had finished repairing the button, and were chatting idly, staring at the stars that appeared giant and were never gone from the sky, a stunning yet slightly scary sight.
“We’ll go tomorrow.”
When they arrived back at the shack, food was waiting for them. An assortment of wonderful dishes adorned the table, prepared with love by JJ and Isabella. They made the androids take a break from doing all the chores, so the three were playing with Minami outside in some sort of strange game of hide-and-seek tag. The poor chicken was having trouble keeping up with the androids. Even so, he was having fun, and they took a break whenever he needed to.
They heard Isabella calling for dinner but didn’t go inside because androids don’t eat. However, Minami did need to eat, so he went inside.
Dinner was a cheery affair as usual. Delicious food, laughter, and chatter filled the table, and Viktor felt…at home? It was his first time really experiencing this feeling, but he decided he liked it. Even though he had only known them for several days, Viktor felt like he had known them forever. Now he really didn’t want to go back. He stared at the table with a pensive and slightly melancholic smile on his face. There was a beautiful warmth blossoming in his chest. He felt a somewhat familiar point in his toe, so he absentmindedly put a chicken nugget under the table. An indignant squawk startled him out of his chance as a pair of beady eyes glared at him from under the table. Suddenly, a chicken flew and smacked him in the face, landing in his lap. It took a moment for him to realize what happened. The table had gone silent.
“OH! Oh Minami, I’m so sorry! Um… CORN! I forgot you were a chicken!” Viktor frantically gave corn to the chicken. At this, the table burst out laughing, and Minami seemed to be laughing in a chicken way. He was still glaring at Viktor. Viktor was a little embarrassed, but shook it off and laughed along. Viktor was dreading the end of the universe. He never wanted to leave.
Chapter 8
Twelve hours later, after a dinner and some sleep, the group headed out to go ice skating. There had been extra ice skates in a storage shed, so everyone was accounted for. Yuuri led everyone else into the forest with a Minami in his arms. Soon, they arrived at the lake.
A lone silhouette of a figure danced on the ice, graceful body in fluid motion. Viktor watched in awe and quietly whispered in awe to Yuuri, “So is that what ice skating is?” Yuuri nodded. The figure seemed to have noticed them, and in the blink of an eye appeared in front of the group. It was a tall, suggestively dressed male with wings and a devil tail; your average incubus. He had blond hair styled into an undercut with green eyes and long, lustrous lashes. He was wearing an outfit with a translucent gray top and sparkly red lines. The sides were more or less nonexistent, back and front being connected by a crisscross pattern and revealing slivers of skin.
“Why hello there,” the incubus said. He had a deep, buttery voice.
“Hi Chris,” Yuuri greeted. Isabella waved, and Minami squawked in greeting.
“Welcome back~,” Chris sauntered over, “Haven’t seen you three in a while,” he tilted his head towards Viktor, JJ, and Emil.
“Why does he know us too?” Viktor asked.
Chris looked shocked and slightly hurt, “Mon chérie, do you not remember me?” Yuuri quickly whispered something to Chris, and his expression faded back to normal. “Oh, well I guess that makes sense. Welcome to my lake! Just put on your skates and follow me onto the ice.”
They did as they were told, and soon were having a whale of a time after some instruction. Viktor couldn’t keep his balance and had to constantly rely on Yuuri for support.
“Now take my hands, come on! Right, left, right, left, slow down…Keep going, you got this!” Yuuri encouraged.
Viktor looked at Yuuri, and felt a warm sensation in his chest. He moved his feet to try and match the pace of Yuuri, and for a moment, they were perfectly in sync. This was until Viktor slipped again. He laughed it off, but then told Yuuri he was going to sit out for a while.
Sitting on the edges of the lake, Viktor watched everyone skate. He decided Yuuri on ice was a very lovely show. Minami was trying to skate, but he wasn’t wearing skates. He awkwardly flapped on the ice, seeming to do a little boogie. Michele was teaching Emil how to skate, and the enthusiastic android was learning very quickly. Nearby, Chris was skating seductively and moving his hips in a very mesmerizing and intoxicating manner. Viktor had to force himself to tear his eyes away. Meanwhile, JJ was already somewhat decent at skating due to either Isabella’s instructing or natural talent. It was like they were skating a serenade for two, or maybe JJ was skating his own theme. In regards to love, Viktor had never thought that much about it. However, an inferno in his heart blossomed like the perfume of the flowers whenever he looked at Yuuri. He didn’t quite know what it meant, but he supposed his heart was trying to tell him his emotions were still alive. His train of thought was cut off when Sara sat down next to him.
“Hey Viktor,” she greeted.
“Hey.”
“Are you going back on the ice?” Sara questioned.
“Yeah, I’m just admiring the wa-” Viktor was interrupted by Minami sliding to a halt next to his feet. The chicken let out a pant as if to say ‘I’m exhausted, please help’. Viktor picked Minami up and sat him down on his lap, petting his comb. The soft ball of feathers more or less melted into Viktor’s arms. Viktor looked at Sara, and Sara stretched her arms towards Viktor. He handed Minami to her and picked up his skates to go skate again.
Once on the ice again, Viktor immediately sought out Yuuri to continue their skating. Yuuri taught Viktor well for several hours, and they were soon dancing around each other like they had been doing it for years. They danced and danced until their legs were sore, and finally collapsed happily into a heaping pile of snow, near where most of their friends were waiting. Chris had gone back into his house. Only one pair was left on the ice, and that was Emil and Michele. They looked more alive than ever.
“Should we go back soon?” Viktor heard JJ ask Isabella.
“Let’s let Michele and Emil have a little more fun, and maybe then we’ll head back.”
They watched the two androids for a few more minutes. This gave Viktor and Yuuri time to recuperate and sit up.
“Michele! Emil!” Sara called, “It’s time to leave!”
The two androids, seemingly in a daze, broke apart and almost looked like they were blushing. Michele definitely was.
On the way back to the house, Viktor was silent and staring at Yuuri’s back. Some people came up to him occasionally, but he was in deep thought.
In regards to love, he had never felt this way before.
Chapter 9
A few hours of sleep and a stretch later, Viktor awoke to the delicious smell of food being made. These days were passing by too quickly for his liking. He could feel the ever looming end of the universe as it came closer, stars slowly growing before his eyes. Shaking these thoughts out of his mind, Viktor decided he would stay here until the very last second, because he definitely couldn’t bear leaving Yuuri, Minami, Isabella, Michele, and Sara behind. It really hadn’t been that long, but Viktor didn’t care. Currently, the smell of food was tempting him, so Viktor pushed that thought to the back of his mind and decided he would tell Emil and JJ later.
Breakfast was delicious as usual, yet it was somber. Viktor, JJ, and Emil were due to leave on that day since the button was completely fixed. Since the universe was ending, Isabella, Yuuri, and Minami, the starchildren were starting to fade. They had woken up one day and Emil noticed he could see the countertop a little bit through their bodies. Viktor still didn’t want to leave yet. Soon, they were standing outside the ship, waiting for Emil to finish adjusting the settings so they could travel back to the correct time period. The controls were located in a secret compartment near the button. Emil came out of the ship and signaled it was time to go. As JJ started to step on the ship, Viktor suddenly called out, “Wait.” JJ and everyone else turned to look at him, “I don’t want to go yet.”
The expression on everyone’s face was that of bewilderment. “Why not?” Isabella asked.
“As cheesy as it may sound, I think I finally found a home when I’ve never had one before. I don’t want to leave any of you behind yet…” was Viktor’s reply.
“But you can just travel back in time and meet us again,” Isabella pointed out, “And not risk dying here at the end of time.”
Viktor wasn’t swayed, “It won’t be the same. You won’t know us. The scenery around us is also stunning, and besides, we won’t get the chance to actually see the end of all time if we don’t stay.”
“Well if you stay longer, that will make it all the harder to leave,” Yuuri interjected kindly, “But if you really want to stay, we’ll just have to make sure you have enough time to get out.”
JJ spoke up, “Honestly, I wouldn’t mind staying here until the last few seconds…as long as we don’t die that is.”
“Are we staying then?” Emil piped up from inside the ship.
Isabella let out a sigh, then relented. “Fine. I hope we’re making the right decision, because otherwise this entire timeline will be changed.”
Viktor grinned, then pulled everyone into a giant group hug. “Even though we haven’t been here all that long, I love you all.” Emil and JJ were quick to hop off the ship and join the hug. Their combined weight pushed everyone to the ground where they all landed in a big, heaping mess. Surrounded by warmth, love, friends, and adventure, there really wasn’t anything else he needed, right?
Except maybe Yuuri’s ass.
Chapter 10
As the days passed, Viktor took many pictures to keep fond memories. Even so, the days still passed too quickly for his liking. All too soon, it was the last day of the universe.
Viktor awoke again to the smell of a delicious breakfast. A sense of déjà vu washed over him as he walked into the kitchen. The starchildren had almost completely faded, and their feet were sparkling, sparkling into nothingness. This signaled the final stage of disintegration. The ground was shaking, something that had never happened before. Explosions outside of the planet’s atmosphere rocked the world, a brilliant spectacle to behold as dying stars gave their last breath. Viktor picked up Minami and cuddled the chicken one last time. Emil seemed to be hugging the life out of Sara and Michele, and JJ seemed to be taking his time parting from Isabella.
“You must go now,” Yuuri ushered Viktor to the door, “You can’t do anything for us, nor can you stay any longer.”
“I know, but…” Viktor put Minami down, and wrapped his arms around Yuuri, “I’ll never forget you.”
“Viktor, there isn’t much time left,” Yuuri whispered, “Leave now, please…” Viktor buried his face in Yuuri’s shoulder. “No tale is more compelling than one that never ends. If you end here, that’s it. You’ll see me in the past, but please continue doing what you love to do.”
“I would love to do you,” Viktor muttered.
“Sorry, I didn’t hear that.”
“Anyways, can’t you come with us? I don’t want to have to leave you here…”
“No, because I’m literally everywhere in the past. That would screw with the timeline way too much.” Yuuri seemed incredibly calm.
“I’ll continue on then. Goodbye, Yuuri.” Yuuri was just a floating torso now, and golden flecks of stardust poured from his body like a spilt sandbag as the rumbles around them grew ever louder. A cry of anguish was heard as JJ’s arms were covered in stardust. Isabella was nearly gone. Viktor felt tears pricking the corners of his eyes. He collected himself and grabbed JJ and Emil by the arms. There wasn’t any time to lose.
“GOODBYE!” Michele and Sara cried after them. In the shadows of the trees, a faint glimmer could be seen as a certain incubus was no more. All luggage had been taken into the ship the day before. There wasn’t anything else they needed to do except press the button. The world was shaking even more, throwing them into momentary panic as they tripped over each other. Finally, JJ was able to slap that button. For a moment, nothing happened. Then, they were thrown into a swirling space-time vortex as the planet around them exploded. Saishu Mokutekichi was no more. A second later, the universe would compress and collapse, but our heroes weren’t around to see that.
Intense, blinding rays of color whirled around the ship. Viktor slumped against the floor, and JJ face-planted on one of the beds. Then, they were barreling through an atmosphere before crash landing into a backyard. Luckily, the ship wasn’t damaged.
A tired looking Seung Gil spat out coffee and grabbed a laser gun. When Viktor, JJ and Emil poked their heads out of the door, Seung Gil let out a string of curses.
“GODDAMMIT! PLEASE GET OUT OF MY BACKYARD! I DON’T WANT THE GOVERNMENT HERE!” Seung Gil looked very panicked, “WHY ARE YOU SHOWING UP IN MY BACKYARD AFTER DISAPPEARING OFF THE FACE OF THE UNIVERSE FOR TWO YEARS? ACTUALLY DON’T ANSWER THAT, JUST PLEASE GET OUT OF MY BACKYARD!”
Viktor slid back to the control panel and started up the ship again. “Oops. I guess the time wasn’t completely accurate.” Somewhere in his backyard on the surface of Glavnaya, Seung Gil breathed a sigh of relief.
Epilogue
Two years after Viktor, JJ, and Emil had left Saishu Mokutekichi, Viktor pensively sat on his bed. “I wonder where everyone is,” he suddenly said. Colors whirled around the ship.
“Hang on Viktor… we’re almost there,” JJ mumbled from the control panel.
Soon, they landed on a small planet. Stardust shimmered in the atmosphere. A recent explosion had happened around there, so there were many small planets. Nearby stars looked younger than Viktor had ever seen during any of his adventures, and most of the planets had extreme climate and weather. Everything was closer together than usual as well. The ground was familiar with fresh, budding sprouts springing up. A small swirl of rainbow gas blew past their heads. A young boy playing with a little chick was running around as a small girl watched. Both had black hair. A smile broke out on Viktor’s face as he stepped out of the Victory.
“Yuuri!”
