On E/riel Headcannons

Every time I see elriel headcanons, I just feel like bashing my head into the wall because WHO is that Azriel??? Certainly not the Azriel that SJM has written and fleshed out over the course of 4.5 books.

A wry, suave, tortured gentleman who, despite all the cruelty he's experienced, actively chooses kindness over brutality. A man who hides a fiery/snarky side underneath a refined, genteel appearance. A man who has continuously sacrificed himself and yet is still sidelined, disrespected, and excluded by those that should owe him a great debt.

That is not Azriel. Thats Lucien.

If you want to ship Az/Elain that's fine but don't completely mischaracterize Az and certainly don't mischaracterize Lucien to fit your ship.

And if you realize that you've been mistaking Lucien's character for Azriel's... consider joining the Elucien girlies - we'd be happy to have you : )

I'm convinced that the mating bond makes Elain FERAL. Now hear me out... the only person she treats completely different is Lucien. All the night court members were there when she was turned Fae, including Azriel, so the whole "Lucien was there during her most traumatic moment" doesn't make sense to me. I think Elain is used to being prim and proper and totally in control, and the mating bond, as we've seen with Nesta and Feyre, makes them feel the total opposite of that. It was clear to me that this was the case when Elain was pleading with Graysen ("love of her life") to take her back but still managed to say "his name is Lucien" when Graysen said he was "some Fae male". Like you better put some respect on his name 😄

to me the absolute funniest character detail in all of m9 is that lucien goes by he/him. because we KNOW that that little bit of molly is in there. that he/they/she is waiting in the wings . so what implication am i to take away from this except that the repression is making him evil and if they were to give him some eyeliner and his jacket then maybe it would fix him
