Hey Maxi, I hope you're okay! I just wanted to say that although some of the stuff you wrote might come off a bit harsh—I totally get it, because those kids are seriously annoying—I hope you’re taking some time to cool down. I think your responses were pretty emotionally driven, and sometimes when emotions get involved, we end up writing or saying things we don’t fully mean.
That being said, it’s honestly so weird how those Marauders stans took what you said so personally XD Like, what you wrote was clearly satire. And on top of that, why are we expected to know or agree that Mary is Black? According to them, James is also a POC... which would make Harry a POC too, who is a slave (Kreacher) owner...Yeah. The mental gymnastics they do are wild, and they get offended by their own delusions.
And about this “known fact” that Mary is Black—like, known by who? The headcanon that Harry is POC is actually pretty widespread, same with Black Hermione, which somehow became accepted in a lot of fandom spaces. But with Mary Happymeal? When I read the books, I didn’t even picture her at all because she’s barely even a character to begin with XD Anyway, take care <3
I remember being completely confused when, after a few years away from the fandom, I suddenly saw Harry being portrayed in fanart as someone with dark skin, because in my mind he was always very pale. I think these people don’t understand that, for example, we spaniards see the English as extremely pale people. Harry is white in the books, or at least that’s what we’re led to believe, since James is white and so is Lily. The thing is, for a spaniard, imagining a white English person isn’t the same as imagining a white Southern European. A white person from Southern Europe could easily be seen as racialized in other parts of Europe. To me, a white English person is extremely pale —the kind of person who gets sunburned the moment they step outside— because we naturally have more melanin and darker skin tones than they do.
What makes me laugh is that these people have no clue and absolutely zero interest in understanding the cultural context of the people they’re pointing fingers at, all they care about is their own worldview and their shitty agenda. It’s not just that I imagine Mary as white, I imagine her as white British. And British white means super white, like, translucent. I don’t picture her as Mediterranean white. I could give them so many examples of people we consider white here who they would see as non-white, it’s honestly wild, lol. I’m white, but I can assure you that someone in England probably wouldn’t see me as that white, because I tan like five shades darker in the sun. These people aren’t more idiotic only because they don’t actively train for it, seriously.

SEVENTEEN is a kpop group and so is SHINee
spoiler translationnnn "por favor fale comigo" means please talk to me
i am definitely not finishing this b4 the end of the month LOL
ok plz read and leave comments k bye
After driving for a bit and accidentally getting Robaire and Z into SHINee and SEVENTEEN, we make it back to the cabin. I get out of the van first, followed by Robaire, then Z.
Robaire grabs the drinks that he talked about before, he must have bought them when me and Z were shopping. My mind suddenly reminds me of that flustering moment we shared, making me feel frustrated with myself. I'm in a loving relationship, I shouldn’t be feeling how I am about this.
But, wouldn’t anyone feel flustered if that happened to them? That’s my justification. As Robaire goes inside, assumingly to put the drinks away and hopefully tell the guys to come and help, me and Z grab our fair share of groceries before heading inside as Jesse opens the front door for us, only wearing a jacket, although I can’t scold him, this stuff is getting heavy.
Me and Z make our way to the kitchen to place the bags down as Taeyoung and T head outside, thankfully bundled up. The two of them, along with Jesse, come back inside with the rest of the groceries, joining us in the kitchen.
The six of us put everything away in the fridge, cupboards, and pantry. With all of us, it’s a fairly easy task, and we finish rather quickly. I grab the big bag of Doritos that I got for myself, and head to the living room as everyone else grabs their own snacks and follows suit. T stands in front of me, no snacks in hand.
I assume he wants some of my chips, but then I remember him telling me he wanted to talk before we left, and he looked oddly serious. “Imani, can you come here?” He asks, and I unflatteringly shove some chips in my mouth before getting up. He gently grabs my hand, leading me to our room.
“Ey! What are y’all ‘bout to do?” Robaire shouts out in a suggestive tone, making me shake my head.
“Just start the movie!” T responds back as we turn the corner to the hallway and disappear from their sight. He pushes our bedroom door open, letting me go in first before cutting the light on. I sit down on the bed as he shuts the door and he sits beside me, the radio I brought playing nonstop Christmas music saving us from an awkward silence.
“What’s up? Are you okay?” I tilt my head, turning to him with a slightly concerned expression.
He sighs, shaking his head. “I’m okay, but are you?” Okay… what’s going on?
“Yeah, I’m fine. Why?” I ask, my voice laced with confusion as he grabs my hands, holding them in his own. “On the way here, when you came back from the gas station, you… were crying.” He reminds me.
Oh, that. “Uhm, yeah. Uh, it was just these two fans, they thought I was Robaire at first, they didn’t seem to like me much.”  I half explain.
“What did they do?” He asks, concern etched on his face, making my heart melt. Gosh, I love him. “Uhhh..” I begin fiddling with his ring.
“They didn’t really do much. They were just kinda mean, and…” I stop, genuinely trying to recall, but then I remember the event, making me grimace, I don’t really want to bring it up to him.
“They… just said some mean stuff. You know I’m sensitive. They just wanted to see Robaire, that’s all.” I try to explain without saying too much, but he obviously knows that isn’t the full story.
“Meu amor. Por favor fale comigo.” He pleads, making me look away. He just had to switch to Portuguese, just to make me give up, but I won’t.
“I-I am! They just thought I was Robaire and they were a little upset that he wasn’t with me. Apparently I shouldn’t be in the band because I’m a girl.” I say with a chuckle, beginning to find it a bit amusing.
“And maybe they brought up what happened on my birthday for some reason.” I mutter under my breath, but he, with his super hearing, heard every word.
“They what?” He exclaims, letting my hands go to throw his hands in the air in annoyance. “It’s not a big deal. I was just feeling a bit emotional that day anyways. It’s in the past, babe.” I try to make him see that the memory doesn’t affect me anymore, although it does, in ways more than one.
“Imani, you know I’d never do anything to hurt you, right?” He asks, referring to the non consensual kiss he received from our ex manager. I know it wasn’t his fault, he just naturally attracts people, it’s his silliness and charm. I know he loves me. I know that.
So why did it hurt so bad? I saw it with my own eyes, I saw her kiss him, and he pushed her away just as quick as everything went down.
“Yeah, I know.” I simply respond as he pulls me in for a tight hug. He gives the best hugs, he’s just the best. He pulls away, giving me a peck on the lips before we hear a knock on the door. We both stand up and walk to the door, it’s Z. His gaze goes to me, staring for a bit before looking at T.
“We’re watching Home Alone. Are yall okay?” He asks, his trademark stoic voice barely  showing emotion, although we’ve known him long enough to know that he’s not some heartless robot, so don’t worry, he’s concerned, just on the inside.
“Yup, we were just talking.” T nods, his usual cheerful demeanor coming back, although a flicker of… something in his eye as he looks at Z, I can’t put my finger on it, doesn’t go unnoticed by me as the three of us walk back out to the living room.
I grab, well, snatch my chip bag from Robaire's hands, that little heckler stole my spot, before sitting down on the spot on the couch that Jesse was lounging on, pushing his legs away to make space, earning a glare from him. “Sorry grandpa!” I say with a grin, plopping down in the empty spot, before T sits to my left, and Z joins, sitting on my right.
Me and Z haven’t said much since the whole thing at the store, so it’s a tiny bit awkward at the moment. He leans back, crossing his arms, seeming intrigued by the classic movie we watch all the time each year, but lowkey, I am too. I catch him glancing at me every once in a while, so I assume he wants some chips.
“You want some?” I ask, tilting the bag toward him, but he turns his head to me, simply shaking his head no before turning back to watch the movie. “I want some, I want some!” T jokingly whines, and I happily tilt the bag in his direction, though I end up just leaving the bag between our legs, just in case he wants more.
“Man, I wish I was in that family.” We hear Taeyoung say, making us chuckle. “Why?” Jesse asks with a grin. “Just look at that house! All that food! I’d be like,” He makes a cute face, puppy eyes and all. “Omma! Can I please stay at cousin Kevin's house tonight?”
“Dude, we can make that here! We just have frozen stuff.” Robaire chimes in, making Taeyoung remember that we just majorly stocked up, and since they brought me along to shop, I may or may not have bought a bunch of junk.
“Oh. Em. Gee. You’re totally right!” Taeyoung practically jumps off the couch and heads to the kitchen, and I decide to come along with him, suddenly having a taste for that ice cream that Kevin is chowing down on. “Tae, look.” I bring him over to the freezer, opening it and showing him the multiple options of ice cream. I may have gotten a lot but, there are six of us, it’ll run out quickly. Vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, mint chocolate chip, moose tracks, coffee, cherry, so many more. We have a big sized freezer, so it’ll be okay.
As he excitedly pulls out the moose tracks, I head over to a cupboard and grab chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, and mini marshmallows, setting them down on the counter. He brings the ice cream over and sets it beside our ingredients for sweetness galore. I grab two bowls, setting them down as Taeyoung gets a scooper and puts it down.
Jesse comes in, wanting to join in. He grabs the pista ice cream, making me grimace.
“Pista… I got that for you, by the way.” He's the only one who actually enjoys it. “Yep, thanks pookie.” He says, making me wheeze.
“Did you just call me pookie?” I clutch my stomach, trying not to laugh. “Yes I did. Everyone keeps saying it so I’m joining in.” He walks over to me and Taeyoung, grabbing another bowl and the scooper from the counter, giving himself two scoops and going to rinse the scooper off for us, putting it back down and getting a spoon.
“Bye, pookies!” He calls out before walking out. “Bye…” Me and Taeyoung say in unison, looking at each other and laughing. “I didn’t teach him that word!” Taeyoung exclaims, putting his hands up before scooping us up some moose tracks, two scoops each. I grab the chocolate sauce, being generous with it, a big helping for both as Taeyoung gives us caramel sauce, being equally generous.
I open up the bag of marshmallows, pouring them into our bowls, making our dreams complete. “Wow.” I step back, putting my hands on my hips and admiring our work.
“This is gonna be so good!” Taeyoung grabs two spoons, giving me the smaller one, aw, little bro knows me well.
We grab our bowls and walk back into the living room, sitting back down in our seats. I immediately slam down on my sweet treat, but also taking my time and savoring it. I can see Z side eyeing me as if he wouldn’t scarf this down, and he so would. Well, maybe not with all the extraness.
The movie goes on, the vanilla ice cream runs out very quickly. We get to the point of the movie where Kevin hears his mother, runs out and sees no one. Then, he finally gets to her. They hug, how cute. The moment just… makes me feel bittersweet.
Yeah, his mom seems a little harsh in the beginning, and even forgets him at home. Okay, this isn’t sounding too good. But, she tried to get home as soon as possible and was so happy that he was safe. She apologized too. For everything. She meant it.
She truly cares about her child.
“Oh my gosh, Imani! No way you’re crying at Home Alone!” I hear Jesse shout out, and I realize I’m full on sobbing. I quickly wipe my tears away, feeling a little embarrassed. I can hear everyone chuckling, well, all except Z.
“Ah, she will cry at every movie, cut her some slack!” Robaire says, hopefully knowing why I’m really crying. I feel a hand patting my back, the hand of Z. I look over at him with a small but grateful smile.
“Ha ha, yeah.” I try to play off as I don’t care as I stand up, getting Taeyoungs bowl with my own as he is now in the bathroom and will definitely be a while. I head to the kitchen, rinsing our bowls and putting them in the dishwasher, shutting it with a sigh.
It’s late now, not late enough for me to sleep but I’m not really feeling like staying up. I walk back into the living room to grab my bag of chips, and I notice that T and Z are gone. Robaire is on his phone and Jesse is somehow knocked out cold despite me being gone for like two minutes.
Maybe T is in our room… I head to the bedroom, pushing open the door and fully expecting to see him in bed or whatever, but he’s not there?
“Why didn’t Imani tell me?” I hear T… from Z's room?

Hello! I thought of a cute fanfic idea for Michael x reader. What if Michael and the reader work at Sister Location and they have to hide under the desk together? Thank you, keep up the good work! Have a good day/night :)
Thanks for the request :), I have 2 more Angst requests that I'm gonna write either tonight or when I slept (its 4am here lol) but Michael fluff is always wanted >:)
Warnings: tight space, bidybabs (those mfers haunt me in my Nightmares)
When I write these sorta long requests I listen to the ambience of the game we're talking about & it always gives me the creeps when I reread my own writing for mistakes 💀 (with the phone guy angst I listened to the classic Fazbear chime & legit felt like I'm being watched, dunno if any other horror writer has this xd)
I deadass replayed that Night just for accuracy here
I finished this at 5:15am so forgive me for wacky spelling or weird phrasing oof
The lights went off as Handunit informed both of you about the Situation, a slight panic rising in your chest. You turned to Michael, who seemed to have trouble finding his flashlight. "Oxygen?!" you whisper-shouted, furrowing your eyebrows. "Yeah, crazy innit? We're so deep down that they have to use artificial ways of getting enough into this place." he sounded so calm, as if he's had to do this before. You knew a little bit about him, at least what he was willing to tell you. For example that he mainly works for his father, and he was stuck in establishments similar to this one previously. The motion trigger went off, causing you to flinch slightly. Michael raised his eyebrow, turning around to shine the dim light to the vent both of you came from. "entry way? Nobody's supposed to be here at night." you crossed your arms, arching your brows. "oh really? Who would've thought?" the slight anger and fear in your voice was clear to him, although you were more mad at the system for being so wack. The voice spoke up again, this time telling you about the maintenance vents. Michael pinched his nosebridge in annoyance. "How is it possible that he can think of such technologies in Robots, but not make a stable system that the place runs on?" You chuckled quietly at his words, a image of who he was talking about coming up in your mind. His dad, William Afton. He talked about him before, but when you met him for the job application you instantly got goosebumps around him. Tall, lanky, that creepy smile. It all came together for the looks of a perfect serial killer in your opinion, and that comment made Michael laugh for a good bit when you shared those thoughts in the main office.
"seriously! I've never seen such a creepy dude before." you leaned back in your chair, taking a sip of water from the bottle that you brought with you. Michael was still laughing, the sound of which making your heart flutter. He wiped away a few tears that formed, sitting back up straight. "oh man, I haven't laughed like that in a while." he faced you, a gentle smile on his lips. "thanks."
Suddenly, another female started speaking, startling both of you. You faced Michael again, unsure of what to do. He looked like something wasn't the way he was told it's gonna be, however you quickly dismissed that thought. You opened your mouth to say something, but the horror took a hold of you. Why would you need to hide? You hesitated kneeling down to find the space, heartbeat picking up the pace. Michael however searched around the desk, pulling the heavy steel aside, revealing the hiding spot. "I don't like this Michael-" your voice was trembling, just like you. "come on, we don't have a choice." he turned his head to look at you, concern written all over his features. Slowly, you made your way into the tight space, making sure to not take up more than necessary. He took his place in next to you, almost sitting in front in a protective manner. Pulling the door shut, your ears began to ring. A deafening tone spreading through the small room, forcing you to grab Michael's arm in panic. 'Try not to make eye contact' it was, you feared whatever would be on the other side. He slid his hand down to your hand, grabbing it in a firm hold in an attempt to reassure you. You shared a look with eachother, his eyes soothing you like a warm shower despite the worry circling in them. You jumped when the sound of metal hitting the plate seperating you from the machine on the other side echoed through the office. You were shaking, hysterically checking every single hole in the door before finding a eye. Icecold shivers ran down your spine, causing you to snap your head into the other direction, hitting Michael's shoulder. He ran his thumb over the back of your hand, encouraging you to hide your face there. He did as instructed, avoiding eye contact. Your heartbeat throbbed in your ears as you felt the door sliding open, eyes wide with horror. You grabbed onto whatever you could, trying to rip it out of the steel hands from the Robot on the other side. Eventually, it let go again, whispering that they 'have to leave now', followed by silence. Michael shone his light through the openings, looking into the room to make sure this wasn't a trick before opening the cover. He slid out first, grabbing your hand to help you stand. There was a moment where he held you close to him, gently rubbing your back to comfort you. The female voice spoke up again, then Handunit. You shared another look with Michael, agreeing to stay where you were for a bit before you hid your face in his chest again.

Dashi's emotions changing so fast from that laugh to a sad-seeming sigh, and Dashi trying to hide his identity and be along for a bit in general, really hit harder when you think about how this has to be shortly after Chase and Guan left him all alone.
Oh, Actually I wanted to make a separate post about it, but since you've asked I can write whatever I had in mind right here!
First of all, I hear you, my dear anon friend. No Chase and Guan in the first episode exploring the past would make us come to the conclusion their little group fell apart :( It hurts me deeply especially when I see good!chase fighting alongside his friends, smiling ;A; Stupid Bean.
Nevertheless, let's focus on Dashi. The show gave us no insight into how Dashi felt about Chase turning Evil. We have Chase, who was and is still content with his decision; he's living his best life and considers evil pretty satisfying. Guan, on the other hand, tried to 'save his friend' for many centuries but to no avail. And there's Dashi, who during his first appearance mentions nothing about the other two. Then, we see his ghost form and he makes a re-appearance in the last episode. This time with his friends. He seems pretty chill (yeah he trapped Wuya for the first time, so victory time), confident and one may say, with that little screentime the Mighty Trio got, Dashi fights with them as someone who knows their moves and trusts them wholeheartedly.
What a shame there is nothing more revealed about Dashi's relations with his teammates. Seriously, Dashi in the show isn't even allowed to say their names? But maybe this choice of making Dashi a mystery man isn't coincidental? There is a possibility it outlines how disconnected Dashi becomes from anything that's happening in the universe of Xiaolin Showdown.
Bear with me a little while. Dashi’s introduction from the very first episode of s1 is far different than the one in Days Past (e01s02). In e01s01 Grandmaster Dashi was presented as a fable, legend, someone so great he is almost perceived as devine. A hero who saved the world (mind you, no mention of Chase and Guan in the scroll) all solemn in his glory. And then Omi encounters a lazybones who would only sleep lol.
Not only this great warrior acts differently than in the scrolls, but also he’s not comfortable with fame. He shoos people away and wants to give Omi an autograph, so the little monk would leave him be.
There is so little to make out from one episode/ showdown, however we know several things:
1. He’s a light-hearted fella, who likes to prank people
2. Grand Master Dashi? More like PunMaster total disaster
3. And by disaster I mean It was a disaster that most of his clothes turned pink because of Dojo lol
4. he’s the fun guy. He wants to have fun. Children are fun, Omi is a kid…. I just love the way Dashi was messing with him ok? Big annoying uncle vibes.
5. And from that scene, anon mentions we see Dashi acting odd. He told a pun and suddenly went all gloomy.
This change of mood might be attributable to Chase and Guan’s disappearance from Dashi’s life. In my personal headcanon, Chase and Guan would often yell at Dashi every time he made a pun. I see Dashi as an ‘I-seek-attention’ kinda guy ‘but only from those I like’. Dashi keeps on annoying his bros because it’s his love language xDDD and seeing how mad Chase and Guan get – he feels encouraged haha. In reality, the other two adore his antics, although in fear he would act like a fool 24/7 they think they’re ‘toning him down’ by showing displeasure xD
‘bro ur jokes lame. Cease it’ ‘haha nope’
and this game goes on and on.
Without them, Dashi has no one to ‘bother’. Add guilt and knowledge Guan wants to be on his own and every puzzle piece is its place.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just look at this man. He misses his friends. And I understand him. What's the point of telling jokes if no one will laugh (or get mad) at them? Laughing alone ain't fun. heck, being alone ain't fun. I bet that the only person (ehem dragon) that keeps Dashi sane is Dojo. However, he can't give him what Chase and guan had and that's another issue that's bugging our grandmaster.
When you look at it this way, the story of every person in the Mighty trio bears something tragic. But let's stick to Dashi. I really like fanbase interpretations of Dashi, such as @writerkatsblog's idea that Wuya and Dashi were a couple, which makes Dashi an even more tragic character. Just imagine: your girlfriend turns out to be an evil witch you have to fight. Being a leader ain't easy either. You have to rebuild every village your ex destroys. Yes, you make nice magical artifacts. People praise you, but also put pressure on you and your teammates to end it once and for all. Eventually, you manage to defeat the love of your life. One more sacrifice made. Chase and Guan get more competitive, both feeling inadequate and you don't know what else to do to resolve their conflict. Next what happens really destroys you: one of your friends gets cursed and you haven't noticed. The other one blames you for not noticing. There is nothing else to save, so you let go of that remaining bond, for the greater good. For the greater good, you hide shen gong wu. For the greater good you move into the shadows, writing down revamped version of the story for the next generations. It's only you and your loyal dragon-pet-friend. With every journey, you get more tired showing more and more problems away, but they won't disappear. They pile up until they hit you the hardest. Battles won't satisfy you anymore because you have no one to celebrate them. You joke around as a coping mechanism, but there is no joy to that if you don't share a laugh with those you consider close. You suffer more, for the greater good.
So, In my personal opinion, Dashi chose to die as the ultimate ' I can't deal with this anymore' surrender. That's why Guan is nice and fine and alive, while Dashi appears in the ghost form in the present times.
Given that, I agree with anon it really hits harder when you look at that fading smile. It's the smile of someone who has lost everything and is afraid that he can lose more even though he has nothing left. Yet another example of a successful person who, in reality, is most unhappy. I bet that's why he despises people recognizing him in the crowd. To some extent, he doesn't want that recognition in order to not get overwhelmed by his 'fans', but the real reason he prefers to remain anonymous is a bit of shame mixed with grief. After all, the best battles Dashi took part in were with people he should have long ago forgotten about. The problem is, he can't.
To sum up, Dashi is a man of contradictions: starting from how he decided to lie here and there to leave his comrades out of the story with Wuya and ending with his tendency 'to toss problems away' (just look at all the shen gong wu. Now the monks have to collect them with the help of an old dragon and scroll, no other means of guidance from Dashi) Ultimately he realized he's the biggest problem, so he got rid of himself, also in the name of the greater good.
Very gruesome way to finish the post, but yeah that's my take on Mr jokester with a tragic backstory. Thanks for reading it!

Memories with Pkyek
My introduction to Pyaar Ki Ye Ek Kahani or PKYEK as we all called it started with the amazing introduction promos I watched several times on star one. I remember watching one of the trailers of PKYEK on star one when I was in 5th grade which is almost 11 years back. I was casually switching channels and I saw this ad, mysterious, the tone of the ad was pretty dark, a curly haired girl and a blue eyed guy and he saves her from getting hit by a car. It was strangely so beautiful and the words “math aao mere kareeb, aag hu main jal jaogi” was clearly stuck in my head and this was a promo a week before the serial released.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM1Cq62uJcY
I think the serial was scheduled to air from 18th October 2010 which was 2 days before my birthday and although I decided I have to watch this I could not watch it for some reason and I forgot about this serial. One day in class my bench mate and then close friend started talking to me about this serial and I immediately told her how much I loved the promo and she asked me to watch the episodes at 8:30 and if I missed it she also told me the re-broadcast timings which was sometime in the evening. I was like yeah sure since she strongly recommended it to me I would definitely watch it. So I was almost 7-8 episodes late and the first episode I watched was Abhay-Piya's first dance and the first scene I watched was Haseena telling Abhay to control himself on their party night near a small bridge kind of place and then the dance followed.
Tumblr media
OMG I must tell how it was one of the best dances I had ever seen on TV serial, it was so magical, especially the way they both were so lost in each other’s eyes and he ensured her torn dress wasn’t visible to anyone and also they danced on to kuch khaas hai song which was such a great song and it ended with the signature Mahiyaa tune. It instantly got me hooked to and I watched it religiously every day. My mom did not want me to watch teen romance Hindi TV serial so I literally had to change channels to Hungama every time she came to the hall XD. Since PKYEK was such a phenomena at school I made so many friends and the best part about pkyek is wherever I went after school for example junior college, Uni, my cousins friends etc all became my friends because of how we all watched pkyek LOL.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway so I got my really studious friend Z into watching it and she was this person who never watched TV but once she say Abhay she was hopelessly in love with that guy. I cringe when I think we all went through this in 5th grade, I mean how were we all swooning over him like proper teenagers. Anyway one day she went to the library and found his picture on some magazine and she told me and I literally ran to the library to get a hold of it but there were so many people already holding it and finally I got a glimpse of Abhay Raichand’s photo and a short interview by Vivian D'sena. I think she started getting so addicted to pkyek that her mom did not like it and she sometimes called me n my landline to talk about it lol. One day there was this class in school where we weren’t supposed to talk so her and I wrote whatever we had to talk on my notebook along with my friend D and the full chat was about Z, D and me swooning over Abhay, while letting A have Abhay and us mostly us teasing her with him. The chats were extremely funny so I tore them from my book and gave it to my senior in my school bus to read it, and when her stop came, before she got down she handed over the papers to me. I think my bad luck was super great that day and my bus teacher, who was this very this strict language teacher who 7-8th grade students caught her passing the papers onto me and asked me to hand it over to her. I immediately put them into my bag and tried tearing them into pieces while she kept screaming to hand it over to her. In the end I had to hand over one part of the chat which was quite dangerous considering we were only 5th graders going crazy about an actor and talking like late teens but I managed to save the dangerous part in my bag. This ***** ma’am read it and literally told me that she would hand it over to my school’s head teacher and she did that the very next day. Why can’t teachers get a life?
Anyway the next day I came to class and told everyone about this and my extra sweet friends told me not to worry about it. In between an afternoon class, the peon came and called Z first, we thought maybe she got called for some extra circular activity, but when the peon came again and called me I knew I was dead. I went into the head teacher's room and she had almost got screwed and I was next in line and I somehow told even D was a part of this convo and even she got called. The other girls in my class were actually worried cuz they knew what was happening. And later head teacher screwed all of us and I guess Z cried on her way to class and then the head teacher let me and D go to class but we were so shameless, after getting a earful we could not stop laughing and literally lmaoed in the corridor before entering the class. This whole thing kind of strained my friendship with Z, and we weren’t the best of friends anymore but D and I still stuck close.
My school had this weird system where there was a girls and boys corridor and the girl’s corridor was pretty cool since it was on the left side and was closer to the trees while the right corridor used by guys was where the teachers entered the class from. So in these corridors we always role played and for some reason I was always Abhay even though I wanted to be Piya (I’m guessing it was because Of my short hair and being an serious faced person generally) and a lot of my friends were Piya and this friend of mine who was crazy about guys was called tracker and my friend D was Misha and we used to randomly dance to songs and recall the dialogues from the previous episodes, do the remoe juliet skit from pkyek and all sorts of things.
Tumblr media
The background music on Pkyek is seriously so legendary and is among one of my favourite bgm tracks for a hindi serial. I would personally rate it number one and it had been my ringtone for 3 years. I tried looking for the Mahiyaa singer and the official song but I could not find it anywhere and mostly found only the recorded copies played in the serial. In my school bus I had seniors who I was very very close to because of pkyek and we always sung the background music, it’s so funny how we knew all the background music from pkyek by heart and remembered it perfectly and were in sync. I started singing this usually in my class as well and my friends hummed along.
Times of India and this other newspaper which I can’t recall had this section where TV channel broadcast programs were listed every day and this tiny picture from random TV shows was displayed on top of it. Whenever there was a pkyek picture all our friends used to literally fight over a picture that was probably 1*1 cms, very very tiny and even the quality wasn’t great but if you opened my pencil pouch on any random day you would find at least 10-15 of them LOL (I’ve lost all of them now).
Tumblr media
found this from https://thereandtheir.wordpress.com/tag/indian-tv-serial/ the tv listing was similar but it was a bit different
I already mentioned how strict my mom was back then so I had to watch the re broadcast since I couldn’t watch the episodes fully at 8:30 PM. I had to wake up around midnight or early morning to watch it. I remember my parent’s thinking I sleep walked because my parents found me in hall instead of my room on odd mornings. It was quite the life with the box TV since I had to sit so close to it and the volume had to be on 1 or 2 since I could not wakeup people at home while watching it. One of the benefits of waking up early to watch this was also that I could see the newest promos on TV and I was always the first one in class to tell what the new promos were about. I remember telling my friends some of the coolest Pkyek promos like the vampire reveal one which in my opinion is still the best promo for a Hindi TV serial (I think Parvati introduction promo for Mahadev on Lifeok is a close second) and the promo where Abhay bites her and many more. I remember revealing this to my friends and my friends rushing home and switching on star one and waiting for the promos to appear and calling me to tell how amazing those promo were.
I remember how this one time I went to my senior A's house and we created fake Ouija board to call spirits. So we called her dead grandmother's spirit and she asked if the creepy guy in her class who was obsessed with her would stop annoying her and I immediately remembered the pkyek scene where Panchi asks maithli on the Ouija board if Danish would ever get punished. I don't know who's idea it was to play with it but it certainly had to do something with pkyek.
Those were really the fun times of my life. Pkyek is and will always be the most memorable serial for me. It’s not like we can expect great cg and VFX for a vampire serial and it in no way could be another vampire dairy or twilight (not to forget EK produced it) but the story and the writing was really amazing. I was a huge sucker for Abhay-Piyas chemistry and the supporting cast were literally the best!

"If the face says nothing, listen to the heartbeat" - Lan WangJi, Mo Dao Zu Shi (Weeks 3+4)
https://zhtheuntamedprojec.wixsite.com/theuntamedproject
... those who have read the novel know the real context of this line in the scene BUT taken out of context and used in a completely different (*cough* our) scenario..."If the face says nothing," translates to "Even if we seem calm on the outside,""listen to the heartbeat." translates to "we're so stressed to the point of ventricular fibrillation." (dunno if that's even a likely story but the overly exaggerated point still stands: we just handed our uni applications in and we're dreading admission tests and awaiting interviews...)
Quick overview
So aside from school work and university prep, TUP has taken up whatever spare moment either one of us has. However since Zara's Physics coursework began (good luck Zara!!) and both of us prepping for our respective admissions tests, we've decided instead of marching onwards with research on architecture and other food science related stuff, to settle on more relaxed Google seshes on MDZS (and totally not using this as an excuse to read the source text again) and beginning to design the buildings on CAD and paper.
So I'm going to introduce to you the barebones framework of what we plan to include in the design: characters, buildings and effects~ apologies in advance for not including the accents/tones in names (I cba tbh ;-; )
Characters
Because all these little dudes are just going to be cut out gingerbread men, we could include as many characters as possible (we did say we're making a universe are we not?). Those in italics are "maybe" characters depending on the dough remaining (or whether we like them to be part of the universe or not...) or how much gingerbread we're willing to eat ourselves (though huge shout out to everyone thats offered to eat our spare and broken gingerbread during materials testing - which I will get to a bit later :3)
Gusu Lan (the pretty sect)
Lan XiChen / Lan Huan (Sect Leader - simped so hard for his sworn brothers that both of them ended up dead)
Lan WangJi / Lan Zhan (repressed gay but we love him still)
Lan Yuan / Lan Sizhui (he's part of the Lan sect now goddamnit)
Lan JingYi (the most unLan Lan yet has the highest chance of being the next sect leader lmaoo)
Lan QiRen
Lan Yi / Lan An
QingHeng-Jun (Twin Jades' father)
Madam Lan (Twin Jades' mother)
Yunmeng Jiang (arguably the only "normal" sect here...)
Jiang Cheng / Jiang Wanyin (Sect Leader also an "angry grape" as put by Zara)
Jiang YanLi (OUR QUEEN)
Jiang FengMian (loved Wei Ying more than Jiang Cheng lol jk xd)
Yu ZiYuan (BAMF)
Wei Ying not included here since technically he defected from the Sect (; - ;)
Qinghe Nie (fans and sabers my bros)
Nie HuaiSang (Sect Leader - yeah, I can't believe it either)
Nie MingJue (noooooooooo)
Honestly, I swear this clan is either "big muscles or big brain?". If you have neither, you can't be part of their clique. I mean sect.
Lanling Jin (rich rich rich rich rich)
Jin Ling / Jin RuLan (Sect Leader - totally not named after Wei Ying's crush/ husband's family)
Jin GuangYao / Meng Yao (*smiles*)
Jin ZiXuan (peacock but JYL's husband nonetheless)
Jin GuangShan (gross)
Jin ZiXun (double gross)
Mo XuanYu (literally did not sign up to any of this. He just wanted to end his suffering at Mo Manor)
We decided against including everyone from Mo Manor since they literally died within the first few chapters of the novel / first episode of the drama so were kinda irrelevant. Also, we don't care about them like we care for the Lan Sect members either.
Off topic side rant, Zara has been on my case whenever I bring up Jin GuangYao. I have to say, he's way more lovable in the drama than in the novel (didn't really leave much of an impression on me in the novel, NHS did a better job at that). I'm here to briefly explain why this boy is misunderstood and deserved more than what he got (and also why you should love him because he deserves love).JGY is a poor soul who's goal in life was to please others because no one was ever satisfied with him. His mother wasn't satisfied. His father wasn't satisfied. Hell, even his sworn brother NMJ wasn't satisfied with him eventually. BUT GUESS WHAT Xichen the angel is the only person that showed any love or thanks to JGY that's why he didn't kill him in the end - he wouldn't kill people that actually cared about him. IF ONLY EVERYONE ACTUALLY PAID ATTENTION TO HOW CLEVER AND CUNNING THIS MAN WAS, THERE MAY NOT EVEN BE WENS THREATENING THE WORLD. end of brief rant.
Qishan Wen (too hot, hot damn)
Wen RuoHan (Sect Leader - could have taken over the world if his children weren't incompetent)
Wen Qing (half the reason why included this sect)
Wen Ning / Wen QiongLin (the other half of the reason)
Wen Yuan (WE NEED THIS BABIE ALONGSIDE SIZHUI OK)
Wen Chao (questionable)
Wen ZhuLiu (also questionable but less annoying than Wen Chao)
Rogue cultivators (including people we didn't really know where to put)
Wei WuXian / Wei Ying (Can work out how to cultivate resentful energy, fight against the biggest cultivation clans in the world and gain a formidable reputation as the Yiling Patriarch yet can't figure out that Lan Zhan has a crush on him. Makes it look like cultivating resentful energy is easy as pie.)
CangSe SanRen (Wei Ying's mother)
Wei ChangZe (Wei Ying's father)
Xiao XingChen (honestly, the nicest guy ever. Could rival Xichen in terms of kindness. But then again... where did that kindness lead either of them? Moral of story: screw kindness)
Song Lan (Wen Ning's dead buddy~)
Xue Yang (he was cool in the novel, a bit questionable in the drama ngl)
A-Qing (didn't report her situation to the police...)
Baoshan Sanren (without knowledge of her existence, Jiang Cheng may have given up on life after he lost his golden core)
Ouyang ZiZhen (I didn't know who he was at all from the novel (ie he left no impression) but since he's technically part of the juniors, we have to include him)
Wang Ling Jiao / Jiao Jiao (just so Wen Chao has a friend perhaps... I don't know if we're that kind)
Su She (ew. just. He's not our favourite. The whole thing could have gone smoother if he didn't exist)
Luo Qingyang / Mian Mian (that one girl that made Wei Ying think Lan Zhan was straight)
Whew! That's all the character's we've considered! We have yet to come up with individual designs for the clothes and what not but at least we know there are going to be straight up cutting them out using the gingerbread man cutters.
Also! let's not forget:
Li'l Apple (didn't sign up for any of this either)
Fairy (gift from JGY to JL, also good doggo)
All the bunnies in Gusu (yes.)
All the fans and sabers in Qinghe (it's part of their aesthetic)
Locations and Buildings
This section's going to be MUCH shorter than the previous one haha since we've basically come up with 5 main buildings and in 7 locations. We're planning these buildings to be architectural masterpieces (okay, that's a slight exaggeration but that's the point). These buildings will take SIGNIFICANTLY more time than the gingerbread characters and is the reason we've put so much effort into researching what would make the most stable type of building. This is because we've planned to mirror the buildings as close as possible to the drama. We haven't yet drawn 2D sketches as I've left that job mostly to Zara (sorry!) so it's sort of hard to describe in words but by next post, we hope to have these down~ (though please see the mood boards from Zara's post previously)~
Gusu Lan - Cloud Recesses
The Wall of Discipline
The Courtyard
The Orchid Room (the main classroom/hall)
Yunmeng Jiang - Lotus Pier
The Main Pier
Lotus Pod Lake
Qinghe Nie - The Unclean Realm
The Main Courtyard and stairs
Lanling Jin - Koi Tower
Koi Tower
Qishan Wen - Nightless City
Main building and stairs
Yiling - Burial Grounds
The Mountains (and farms/Wen settlements)
Demon-Slaughtering Cave
And of course, Yi City.
We don't know if we want to include any more places but we'll let you know if there are any changes to this list. Plus the effects of LEDs and other arts and craft jazz besides gingerbread, we plan to make sure each Sect get's their own spotlight~
Please enjoy our baby Cloud Recesses, they're going to grow up and be a fine specimen of society worthy of the Lan name :D
The plan going forward
Although unfortunately, things haven't gone totally to plan due to fairly busy circumstances, we still have some major events along the way before starting to build the whole thing (which would probably be around mid-to-end of December) which have indeed started preparing for. Including:
Material testing gingerbread and icing (ie finally, bringing our research to the real world) - a lot of gingerbread will be made, so thank you to the willing volunteers who wanted to eat our failed experiments!
Finding / creating a suitable recipe for the gingerbread people
2D and 3D sketches of the buildings
Designing costumes for the gingerbread people
Another thing that we kinda want to do is to make this project benefit the wider community (we wanted to set up a GoFundMe at some point and raise some money for charity~). But we don't know how to do that as of yet T-T . Any ideas, feel free to contact us and let us know! We want to help others through this project (if at all possible haha)!

carcarchu
the comic's not loading for me shakes fist at wifi, gonna try again tomorrow but i just wanted to say the look of the site is really cute!
Joichi [Hybrid Dolls]
Got the chance to read it So here are some of my thoughts: 1. I like the romantic atmosphere that the comic starts off with warm colours and it gives a vacation ad sensation? 2. My favourite moment is in the pink strange dream world, the colours contrast to the reality of Cara. 4. Fave moment: When that mystery guy shows up and he had corny lines like a romantic parody. It seem so fantastical. 5. I like the colour palette choice of brown tones, shades of pinks. 6. I think the theme is about expectations (it's not clear atm), how Cara is distancing from real relationships and prefer to indulge. 7: I like how the creator shows Cara looking scared of confronting things. It sets an interesting tone of uncertainty. Is she hiding something?(edited)
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
I'm super curious about the situation of Cara not remembering her past dreams with Richie, and how that ties into the theme.
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
1. I like how I don’t know what to expect. I also like how the premise is relateable; the idea that you are scared of imperfection making you have high standards in life hit close. 2) Every single time we’re treated to....Tuyetnhi’s lovely use of expression. Also the end part of episode 2, because that’s when I realized it’s going to get dark. 3) A tie between Ana and Richie. Ana because she makes me laugh with her blunt assertions (which...aren’t wrong) and Richie because he’s so flamboyant and extra. I love how much personality they all have. 4) Hands down Richie and Cara. They have a really hilarious dynamic going on. 6) The idea that people seek perfection through their dreams instead of facing reality. Also I really liked how it tackles society’s fixation on everyone to find someone....maybe Cara doesn’t need that and needs to focus on herself first? 7) That I won’t know what to expect. I came into this thinking it was going to be a classic romcom, and then I get hit with implicit horror and trippyness. I have a feeling Tuyetnhi is hinting at some darker aspects of the story we have yet to see. 8) Good lord the expressions. They really do the story justice and make me turn the page every time. Also the colours are beautiful.(edited)
(Whoops sorry keiiii)
7) two moments actually!
The fact that their wide eyed sweaty expressions matched made me laugh really hard
And also Cara’s quick acceptance of the situation was so unexpected and hilarious I took a double take. Also props to the colour dissonance; that looks like meme material right there!
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
yeah. I want to make it clear that Cara is like "This is really not my day." lol
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
Well....you portrayed that sentiment perfectly
Joichi [Hybrid Dolls]
Omg yes the wide eyed expressions were also making me laugh! Well that was an expression I didn't expect coming into the story(edited)
I was wondering if that was suppose to be serious or humorous?
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
both LOL
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
I see the horror you got going there Tuyetnhi Reminds me of...I dunno Jojo?
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
well............ yes and no lol
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
But I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen
Although...if we’re going by the silhouette....is she scared of herself?
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
C:
Joichi [Hybrid Dolls]
I like that sense of not knowing what's happening? :)(edited)
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
that will be coming up in Ch. 3 soon
so please wait till then thank u lol
Joichi [Hybrid Dolls]
So far it's tough to choose a fave character right now since I feel the story has just started its first segment. I would like to wait until more content is shown before I can make a firm choice? (I'm analytical, I like to go over OCs flaws and strengths once I know more about them)(edited)
I'm curious to learn about her ex crush, since we only get a glimpse of how Cara precieve him. But what is Dean really like? *Drum rolls(edited)
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
you got.... good questions
it will be rewarded.... later on LOL
mariah (rainy day dreams)
1. What did you like about the beginning of the comic? I really liked the colors and island vibe. And this was even before Animal Crossing came out and I started hardcore living that island life I just love a good, soft pink to purple gradient generally speaking so the opening of the story was like falling into a comfy brain pillow for me. 2-4 I'm just gonna answer these ones kind of all together because they thoughts on then are all kind of threaded together into one big thought. After having read through the archive I really liked the scene with Ana and Cara. When I first read it I was like "dang, she's giving Cara such a hard time," but after having read the scenes where Cara just refused to admit to Richie she doesn't know what's going on I really retroactively appreciated Ana's willingness to call Cara on her bullshit XD I think it's a really good foil trait to have for a protagonist who seems dead set on avoiding confrontation even though it seems like doing so is most likely just gonna come back to bite her later. I imagine we aren't going to see Ana for a while though unless Cara is able to use her Phone A Friend card in the dream realm XD I am also looking forward to seeing more of the Cara doppelganger and how she and Cara interact with each other going forward. That feels like an exciting and drama filled mystery
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
1. What did you like about the beginning of the comic? I also love the atmosphere. The color choices are just so beautiful. 2. What has been your favorite moment in the comic (so far)? Ana pointing out Cara's BS hahahaha. 3. Who is your favorite character? Definitely Ana. She's so down-to-earth from what I can tell, someone I'd want to be friends with. 4. Which characters do like seeing interact the most? Probably Ana and Cara. I like to see good friendships depicted, especially in a romance. 5. What is something you like about the art? If you have a favorite illustration, please share it! In general, everything is so soft and pretty. I also really appreciate the fact that all the characters have larger noses. If I had a favorite panel, it would be at the beginning, the sunset beach waves. 6. What is a theme you like that the comic explores? So far, I'm not sure about themes, but I like the talk about the pressure parents give to their children to get married. 7. What do you like about the comic’s story or overall related content? There's a lot of mystery, so I'm looking forward to learning about Cara's dreams, Richie, and the key. 8. Overall, what do you think the comic’s strengths are? The visuals are really nice. I can't stop gushing about the color choices and the pretty atmosphere.(edited)
Joichi [Hybrid Dolls]
The way Cronaj sums up their thoughts on OiYD, I'm agreeing with the statement on Ana and Cara! Esp friendship part
Deo101 [Millennium]
I'll answer the questions hopefully later this week, but this song reminded me of the comic!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4z5ecLCvSQ(edited)
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
@Deo101 [Millennium] damn that’s a good song
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
Oooo
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
He's definitely hot and extra
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
lmao
Joichi [Hybrid Dolls]
My joke idea is that Cara is secretly in a reality show starring Richie and her and the bonds they play out is meant for a live broadcast. But she's clearly not agreeing to this(edited)
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
oh god. i don't think that's good for Cara's mental state lmao
Feather J. Fern
Also I have to say, I do love how the first cover is literally Cara being the meme of "Oh no he's hot"
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
fjdkalfdjdklfj
Feather J. Fern
Also I finally started it, while a bit late, I have to relate to Cara being an accountant.
Also I think my favourite panel is "Welp that worked"
Also I have to appreciate picking a pink that doesn't grate on the eyes.
https://gyazo.com/71fe22ea6ac2ebf6b3d85531c66bf8ed Another really good panel
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
I enjoyed making that one LOL
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
that face is one of my favourites not gonna lie
Feather J. Fern
I really like the surrealness of the story, can't wait to see what happens next
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
same! I feel like something is about to happen
I'm also wondering how Richie would react to the real world
like....the ex. And her parents.
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
soon™️
Feather J. Fern
More like everyone reacting to Richie XD
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
Yeah pretty much
Like can Richie handle the world?
More like
Can the world handle RICHIE
RebelVampire
I like that the beginning really contrasts the dream and Cara's reality pretty quickly. I kind of feel it catches that feeling of coming out of a dream to face reality which kind of sucks, and also plays into the themes of dream vs. reality and expectation vs. reality. It's very easy to idealize things, whether as a route of escapism or just because it sounds appealing. But the reality of things generally is always different, and I like that we're seeing this full force in the comic through Cara's perspective. And the contrasts between the two really enhance those topics. My favorite moment in the comic so far is probably when Cara meets what I assume is Dean. Cause I really loved that both parties were kind of at fault, and I also liked how quickly that convo devolved into a grumpfest, because that felt very realistic. My favorite character right now is definitely Richie, because he is ridiculous and sympathetic at the same time. I adore his exaggerated personality, while at the same time feel sorry for him since for him the memories are clearly there and like...I would not want to be in the shoes of someone where the person they loved no longer remembered them. As for character interacting the most, Cara and Richie because that entire premise of one person remembering and the other not makes for a really tense and awkward situation. It's hard to tell where it's going to go. What I like about the art is the palettes of color chosen, since there's some beautiful scenery as well as fantastic contrasts when needed to make certain moments pop (like dream vs. reality).
As for the story content, what I actually like the most is that Cara is a flawed protagonist. I've read a lot of stories where the protagonist is always 100% right in the relationship and is just eternally the victim because society pressure. But Cara has a lot more going on, since she's clearly been at fault in some interactions, and while we can sympathize with people pressuring her into relationships, she also maybe takes it too far by being avoidant of basically every relationship. However, since she has these traits, I'm more invested into her personal dilemmas since she'll actually make mistakes when dealing with stuff. Which I think this is the overall strength of the comic. Cara is just a damn good protagonist who is easily likeable but isn't perfect and whose imperfections are not just brushed off so easily.
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
;_; .... thank you.
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
I love the story so far! When I first started, I figured it would be some sort of awkward story where Richie comes into the real world and he has to figure out how to, like, act natural, and hilarity ensues. But holy cow, Cara losing her memories, and the slide into somewhat of a horror angle - it's not something I expected (though admittedly I could have read the synopsis lol), but it's definitely something I like!(edited)
Comic Tea Party
DISCUSSION PROMPTS – PART 2
9. Do you think the people around Cara were right to try and pressure her into a relationship? Overall, what do you think the comic has to say about relationships and the themes regarding relationship pressure?
10. Is what Cara experiencing dream or reality, and where is the line between them in this case? Additionally, why do you think her dreams have the potential to become reality as opposed to other people? Also, what is the overall message underlying these themes?
11. Is Richie really just a dream Cara dreamt up, or is there something more to him? If he somehow makes it to Cara’s world, do you think he’ll be able to adjust to that reality? Also, can he win Cara over?
12. What do you think the Cara imposter is about, and what does this have to do with the entire situation? Do you think Cara will eventually remember her dreams? Lastly, what do you think Cara has in store for her as the story continues?
Don’t feel inspired by the prompts? Feel free to discuss anything else that interested you!
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
9. I personally don’t think it was great of the people in Cara’s life to pressure her like that. Sure, they mean well, but it’s most likely bringing Cara’s self esteem down by a lot. I have a feeling that her dreams/reality colliding together is partially motivated by that; the pressure of pleasing society has made her....subconsciously take drastic measures?
10. I’m actually not sure! Maybe there’s a supernatural explanation to it, or it could all just be a dream. Dreams have a way of showing a person’s innermost desires or fears, so maybe Cara’s desires and fears are coming alive in response to external stress factors. So perhaps she opened a portal of sorts between the realms in some way (there’s a key!!!!).
11. Oh I’m thinking they might end up together. But the realist inside me thinks...perhaps what Cara needs isn’t romantic love, but more independent love and being able to love herself. What DOES worry me, however, is the fact that Richie seems...a bit desperate for Cara to like him. Is there a condition to his love after all? If so, that means that it’s possible he’s forced in some way to love her or make her love him. And that’s not really conducive to romance, is it?
12. Ah...the thing that makes me mystified the most. Cara seems to have a negative view of herself, since she told her to get out in the end of chapter two. However, Cara #2 seems to be pretty helpful; knocking on the door to tell her to get out of the house (which Richie has her in), so in a way letting her out. While our Cara seems to dislike her a lot, I think the key to the story would be our Cara needing to accept this double Cara to be really free. Maybe she will, maybe she won’t! But from what I can see from the story and like I’ve said earlier...maybe Cara needs to be able to find love within herself. Love for that Cara double, and enough love to become independent and not bend to society’s overwhelming pressure for outside romance. I hope she finds that as the story comes along, and know that it’s okay to not be ready for love.
As for Richie...hmm. He’s dealing with an amnesiac heroine, and adjusting to the real world. I’m sure it’s going to lead to some hilarious hijinks, but hopefully he can manage! He seems up to the task
RebelVampire
I think whether people were right to pressure Cara is a tricky gray area. On the one hand, no, they were wrong. Nobody should be forced into a relationship. But on the other hand, if you know a person is actively self-sabotaging, isn't it more correct to speak up? So to me this is maybe a situation of good intentions with bad execution. However, I do think overall the comic does say pressuring people into relationships sucks and plz don't do that cause that's how you make ppl run further away. I think it's both, because a dream is reality in a sense. I think many of us have had dreams that caused real emotional affects, whether negative or positive. So the line between them is merely the fact effects are limited. Cara have may have just found a way to cross that line and make a dream a tangible thing that has more consequences. As for why her dreams, I don't know. Maybe she's just super good at dreaming. I do think as the overall message though is that dreams are good but not when we get lost in them, because then we idealize and reject "reality" in ways that aren't healthy. I do think Richie is primarily something Cara dreamt up, but kind of not maybe. Like sure maybe Cara is idea creator, but something else was involved in making the physical reality of that idea. As for Richie adjusting to Cara's world, I'm sure it will be laughably hilarious. I do think he can sort of win Cara over, at least in the sense of being friends. Cause how can you hate Richie? I'm taking a shot in the dark and saying Cara imposter is the embodiment of Cara's missing memories but since they're just memories, all they can do is imitate. As for Cara remembering, I feel like it will be yes but I kind of want it to be no. I like the idea of them having to reform a relationship entire from scratch.
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
Oo good impressions! I wish I have more to say but it would affect the story LOL. Enjoyed reading everyone's theories tho!
Joichi [Hybrid Dolls]
Ok my turn, let's see what my head theories are: 9: I felt the same annoyance as Cara but it's a mixed feeling, Even though, people shouldn't pressure a lady on her love life, she also has a problem with being in relationships. Or I remember one quote from the story was how she 'ditched her dates by rushing to the bathroom.' although I don't know her circumstance, I do know she has issues to settle too. Relationship pressure is real, especially as a young person grows older. 10. From the comic visuals, it feels much like it's her escapism dream. The only clue I got, is that her holding a literal 'key' connecting both worlds, is evidence that both world could collide. So far, we haven't seen other people's dreams, or whether this is an unusual occurrence in the world? It seems to be a message about idealistic relationships. Since Cara seem to turn away real ones, it manifested? 11. I'm curious about Richie's character too. He seems like a powerful imagination, enough to sway the lead, so he's more than a simple figment. I wonder if his submissive, flirtatious (?) personality was build in him. He doesn't seem to have a 'life' outside his dream house, or so far. 12. I'm not sure whether the 'Other Cara' might be trying to help her or is that.. actually a shadow side? I don't want to say too much, but it's interesting to see where the story goes.(edited)
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
Oh! You make a good point about Richie; I never thought about that! Do you think maybe he's simply a part of Cara and eventually gains his own sentience/personality?
Joichi [Hybrid Dolls]
Hehe I like analyzing dreams :3 In dream theory, I feel he could be? I was more skeptical whether he should be treated as a real character or something else.(edited)
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
man this does make me want to look up dream psychology
i have a feeling...Tuyetnhi is using some theories from that
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
Hmmmm dream psychology you say?
I guess you can say there's some elements of that, but it's not a major chunk of it if that makes sense lol

DISCUSSION PROMPTS – PART 3
13. What are you most looking forward to seeing in regards to the comic?
14. Any final words of encouragement for the comic?
Don’t feel inspired by the prompts? Feel free to discuss anything else that interested you!
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
13. Maintaining the will power to finish OIYD! so I can see it as its end lmao. As a passion project but also something that I want to invest in when I have the time, I hope ya'll looking forward in reading Ch. 3 very soon lol.
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
13. I really want to see how both Cara and Richie will develop as characters. Whether Cara will figure out for herself what being both independent means....and whether she does want a relationship for herself and not for other people. Likewise with Richie, I want to see if he'll be able to be his own person...and whether he's real or not. I have a lot of questions that I want to be answered, and I can't wait to keep reading.
14. Tuyetnhi, good luck on the webcomic. It's hard to start one and even harder to pull off a good one, and I know yours is a good one. I really look forward to reading more from you. You're amazing (edited)
Tuyetnhi (Only In Your Dreams!)
thank you
Joichi [Hybrid Dolls]
13. I'm interested in learning more about Cara's conflicts, why she is hesitant about having a real relationship vs her dream one? I love the unexpected dark twist that the story seems to be going. 14. I want to say, no pressure and take your time to complete the chapter. Just know you have my support and willing to read when it is ready. Good luck
RebelVampire
I'm looking forward to more Richie being Richie. Because he is an adorable person. And also because I'm waiting for some 'reality' culture shock. My final words are that this comic has a strong themes game going on and an intriguing premise, so it'll be fun to see where the comic is in a few more chapters since I'm pretty sure we're in for a wild ride.

When The Brat Decides To Sleep With Me (Pt. 1. May be more in the future. Modern AU. May do canon verse sometime.)
(This is all a certain someone’s fault for their ask...which led me to watch the episode....laugh...and become inspired...too inspired to fall asleep lol XD. Sorry for the shortness).
So usually when it’s “What the ever loving fuck o’ clock” in the morning, you’d expect everyone to be sleeping, right? Yeah, that doesn’t happen...a whole lot...in my house...especially when a certain brat is an insomniac. Now, if I had it my way, I would’ve easily knock that kid out with some of my ‘sleepy-time juice’, but apparently that is wrong. Also, I do not have alcohol in my house anymore because a certain brat got into shit...and...well that’s a story for another day (still have my smokes though! So whatever...still miss my wine though).
Junior can sleep at the drop of a hat and stay asleep (we’ve established this already I’m sure, but just in case you are dropping by rather late-). The brat, can’t and these are just some of the weird ass things/questions he asks me as I’m trying to fall asleep. Read under the cut if you dare.
“Do you think crickets have feelings?” came a soft voice from the small bundle of blankets leaning against my back. The brat was sitting up and staring out my bedroom window. The thunderstorm long past. One of my eyelids popped open and I felt annoyance creep up my spine. Take a deep breath Cross, it’s three o’clock in the morning...you have work together...but you must have patience.
“No. Now go to bed,” I growled out before closing my eyes again.
“Do you think werewolves sniff other people’s butts in their human forms?” came another question.
“Werewolves don’t exist. Go to bed brat,” I growled out without opening my eyes this time. I had no idea where the fuck that question came from...unless Junior showed him a werewolf movie earlier. Fuck if I know.
“Are you sure? What if you’re a werewolf?”
I bit back a growl.
“I am positive they do not exist!”
“You didn’t tell me if you were a werewolf or not. That can explain why you’re so hairy and you shed everywhere-”
I snarled and sat up in bed, knocking the little boy over in my annoyance,” Go the fuck to sleep brat! Don’t you know little boys like you are supposed to be asleep at this hour!? Hell, you were supposed to be in bed at 9 o’ clock and now it’s 3!”
“So you are a werewolf! Can you bite me so I can become one to? We don’t have to tell Lavi. He’d be an awful werewolf,” Allen said, turning over to look up at me, innocently blinking as he totally ignored what I said. My eye twitched in irritation. I have no idea how Tiedoll manages this shit. He has four kids...and I’m struggling with two. Although to be fair, the second one isn’t even really mine!
“I’m not a werewolf and I swear to God Allen if you do not shut up and close your eyes, I will suffocate you with a pillow to make it happen,” I spat, hoping the empty threat would get the kid to at least try to sleep. I mean, it wasn’t the kid’s fault that he couldn’t sleep. It must be lonely to be alone with your thoughts while the whole house is sleeping. Still...there is only so much lack of sleep I could take and these scattered thunderstorms all week were not doing me any favors.
Allen’s eyes narrowed up at me before he blurted out,”Bakanda already tried that many times and it didn’t work. You know for someone who works at the police station you do a lot of illegal stuff.”
“Well he probably did it wrong! Also, news flash, everyone knows I do illegal shit Captain Obvious!”
“Mana said you shouldn’t swear in front of children...” Allen deadpanned.
“You shouldn’t even be awake right now!”
Allen, ever the sass master, responded with,” Well, you shouldn’t be awake now either, but you are.”
“Yeah and it’s your fault!” I shot back. I could feel my eyes burn with how tired I was.
“Well maybe you should’ve made sure I was asleep first!”
“I thought you were!”
“Well I wasn’t!”
“That’s pretty obvious to me now! Thanks!” I said sarcastically.
“Well, what are you going to do about this?” Allen asked.
“Me!? What does this have to do with me!? This is your problem!”
“Yeah, but I’m just a kid. You’re the adult in this situation. You could go back to sleep, but I won’t let you until I sleep. That makes it your problem as well,” Allen stated in a matter-of-fact tone while twisting a piece of his hair around a finger.
“Well then, what the fuck do you want!? I’m not a mind reader damn it!”
“Well it should be obvious...”
......
“It really fucking isn’t”
Allen rolled his eyes in annoyance (like you have any fucking right to be annoyed, kid! You weren’t the one woken up!),”Food!”
Oh...oh yeah....yeah I probably should’ve guessed that. Guess I forgot who I was dealing with here...
“You want me to make you food...at three in the fucking morning!?”
“It could’ve been said without the f-bomb but yeah. I request my emotional giant to make me food,” Allen sassed.
“Make it yourself you diva-”
Then, all of a sudden, I had a flashback to three days ago when Allen attempted to make a salad...and nearly burned the house down (Yeah I know. I don’t know why he thought he needed the stove).
“Well if you insist-” Allen sighed as he got up.
“Nope, never mind. I’ll make you something,” I deadpanned as I got up to walk to the kitchen.
“Carry me?”
“No way! A little exercise will do you some good! Maybe it’ll tire you out!”
(Anyways, I’m gonna try to get my own ass to bed. Hope you enjoy this random drabble!)

A Rencounter Fic
OMG I MADE A 2ND CHAPTER!!! And in short amount of time (not really but short enough)!! This one is really special cuz @ice-cream-kitsunegirl and I work together on this one. She made an amazing intro (in my personal opinion). Once again both of our Ocs are here, I have her permission to use her character, I hope you will like it and please check out her blog if you like bnha x readers fics, I recommend reading her stuff. (She has more experience in writing than I do. XD)
Summary: Ashlen and Amy have been friends online for three months but never knew each other's real names or faces. They are from different countries but feel as if they are very close to one another. Ashlen is on an exchange program to UA High School to Class 1-A for a year. One year away from home in the U.S, will she get along with her new classmates? Why does one of them sound familiar?
Chapter 2: A Sense of Change
Meanwhile at UA…
“WHOO-HOO~!”
Amy whooped as she flew her broomstick up in the air, high enough to run a hand through the clouds, the same place where her head was as she grinned at the bright moonlight. It was the perfect amount of light that she would need to charge her gemstones for when she got down. She looked down to see their brightness…
She wasn’t alone though, she had her dear friend Shinsou riding with her on her broomstick, and he wasn’t crazy about how high they were. They were a little too high near the clouds, he knew that Amy was an adrenaline junkie, but how did he let her convince him to do crazy shit like this?
‘It’s like riding a bike she said… it will be fun she said…’ He thought to himself in dread, but he refused to show that he might have been just a little bit scared of falling since this relied purely on her telekinesis to let her fly.
“Hitoshi! We’re so freakin’ high! I’ve officially gotten better with my telekinesis, and now I can fly this thing anytime I want! Haha~! I want to get away, I wanna fllyyyyy away~.” She started singing as she floated about and let the wind blow in her face.
“You shouldn’t sing while we’re up here… you need to focus, so your telekinesis doesn’t break… Let’s just get back to the ground… I don’t think I really like fly-“ Shinsou nearly screamed when she suddenly descended, and he held on tightly to this broomstick as she whooped yet again, swerving a circle around the Heights Alliance building and potentially disturbing some of the other Class 1-A students with the heavy wind blowing through the windows from her fast flying..
As soon as she reached the ground, Shinsou was happy to be back on his feet where he wouldn’t fall to his death. “HA! Never gets old…” Amy laughed cheerfully as she got down off her broomstick, secretly amusing Shinsou despite what his expression indicated. “You’re setting witches back a hundred years by flying on a broomstick, do you know that?” He asked her sarcastically as she laughed a little bit, “Yeah, but it’s fun~. Now watch this! The moonlight is perfect for my gems~.” Amy sang-songed as she cheerfully went over to the gems she had collected to charge up for the perfect night.
They were gleaming, provided by the brightness of the moonlight that shined upon them, Amy stared at them in awe as she started to sing the incantation.
“Crystal, Gleam and Glow
Let your power return
The full moon shine so bright
Return your state of might.”
A low humming radiated from the glowing gemstones, and Amy’s grin grew and looked somewhat crazy from Shinsou’s point of view as she did her best to not let out a dramatic cackle, and instead just giggled happily. “AH! I can’t wait to utilize their power for later~ I’m just mad about gemstones.” She said excitedly, which Shinsou secretly found endearing. Even if he didn’t know why he was out here in the first place.
“Why am I out here again?” He asked in the most deadpan tone she had heard yet, and he wasn’t surprised to see Amy’s trademark smirk.
“Duh, Mr. Aizawa trusts you the most with me, I need you to back me up if I get in trouble, and on top of that… I need to make up being away from you for 4 years… do you know how sad I was without you?”
Amy explained, her smirk turning into a more somber smile, “But you had the other witches. You certainly think highly of them… a lot more than the other girls here, that’s for sure.”
It was true. Amy often mentioned her sisters from the coven at Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Girls at New Orleans to her friends and classmates. Her sisters were young witches that had been made public not long ago but were an independent heroine group that followed their own rules thanks to Amy’s Supreme Cordelia Goode demonstrating a heroic attitude despite the witches’ controversial, and some say questionable hero methods. Amy’s dear friends Zoe Benson, Queenie and Mallory lived there, and she missed them terribly, but frequently spoke to them online, along with a new friend she had made in the states. And sometimes she would stay up till the dead of the night talking to them, which had lately been forcing Bakugou to make her ‘go the fuck to bed.’
“I do… I mean the girls here are great… but… my sisters are… pretty badass.” Amy chuckled a little bit, but Shinsou couldn’t help but rolls his eyes. “Yeah, we hear you go on and on about how great they are… Except for Madison… nobody can stand her, I really can’t stand her.” Shinsou reminded her but made sure to remark on his intense dislike for Madison Montgomery, the bitchiest witch who had been ‘taking care of you’ and shadowing a very reluctant Aizawa on Cordelia’s request on most days. But nobody, not even sweet Izuku, Kirishima or Uraraka liked her.
Amy couldn’t help but giggle. Madison was more of her frenemy than anything, compared to Misty, Mallory, Zoey, and Queenie, but Madison was a hedonist who looked out mainly for herself and most definitely NOT a hero. Although, Madison did care about Amy, given that she took her on a wild bender after Bakugou was rescued and was being kind of a distant asshole afterward.
That proved that Madison DID care about her and had a heart underneath the stone-cold bitchiness. “Hee-hee, Madison’s a bitch. But… I can handle her. I mean… look at who I’m dating.” Amy shrugged a little bit and laughed, not fully noticing the look of annoyance on Shinsou’s face.
“But… as much as I talk about how great my sisters are… they aren’t you Hitoshi… they made me feel less lonely… but they couldn’t replace you at all…” She said softly with a warm smile at her childhood friend, who didn’t seem to expect that as he awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck, willing himself to not blush.
“So sentimental…” He muttered a little bit in slight embarrassment as Amy giggled a little bit, unable to stop herself from hugging his arm affectionately as he sighed heavily in mild annoyance. Although, Amy’s hold loosened a little bit as her brown eyes widened ever so slightly, pausing momentarily as she stared upwards into the distance and looked around.
There was nothing in the area, but her senses were tingling and telling her something that she couldn’t really say. Yet, she felt nothing bad, which was surprising to her since one of Amy’s gifts allowed her to sense bad juju and of bad things yet to come. So naturally, Amy learned to be cautious, even if she wasn’t sensing the usual bad juju…
Which was a little bit alarming to her. She’d been used to bad juju, and for some reason, it seemed to be naturally drawn to her wherever she wants, whether it was at Robichaux or UA. She recalled many times she felt it, such as the attack on Robichaux, the Witch Hunters, the Axeman’s attack, the USJ incident, the Hero Killer’s attack at Hosu, to the Summer Field Training trip. All bad incidents, so why was this so different?
Amy wondered what this could have meant. Whatever it was, it was lingering in the atmosphere, and Amy was growing more curious about it by the minute.
As she thought to herself, Shinsou knew that the witch must have sensed something when she was uncharacteristically quiet, so he could tell she must have sensed something, “What is it, Amy? Is something the matter?” He asked her, a hint of concern in his tone as Amy chuckled and shook her head.
“Nothing really… I thought I sensed something but… now it’s gone… it’s nothing.” She replied with a smile and decided to quickly change the subject somehow.
Ding!
“Oh! Hello~. Wonder who that could be~?” Thankfully, one of your friends messaged you, which was the perfect distraction from the weirdness you felt.
Ally-luvs-14cats: Hi! What's up Ice cream!?
Ice-cream-FoxGirl: Oh hey girl! Just flyin’ about with my buddy. Almost died lol
Ally-luvs-14cats: Which one? The Zombie one or the Explodo boi?
Ice-cream-FoxGirl: HA. I haven’t killed Explodo Boi YET. But I’m with my dear Zombie Boy.
Shinsou looked over Amy's shoulder, "Who are you talking to? And who are you calling Zombie boy?"
Amy nearly jumped, and she flashed him a nervous, toothy grin, “Just a friend… Zombie Boy? No…” She laughed very nervously, “Nobody… definitely not you… I don’t think your zombie-like features make you look like a zombie…” She said, not convincingly at all as she tried to wave it off.
Ally-luvs-14cats: XD i bet he pissed his pants!
Ice-cream-FoxGirl: XD LOL I dunno. Maybe. I didn’t check my broom lolol
Ally-luvs-14cats: you better. Wouldnt want a nasty ride XD
"Who are they? Are they your friends from the coven?" Shinso asked, with a face of annoyance from the 'pissed' comment.
“Hee-hee… not this time… Madison probably would’ve said something like that. But no, this is my bud from the States... She ain’t a coven girl, well… that I know of,  but she’s definitely a friend…” She clarified, for once not saying anything really snarky since she had grown to like this girl, she was pretty cool. A LOT cooler than Madison that’s for sure, the witch Amy was stuck with.
"You know, you really shouldn't be buddy-buddy with people online. They could be a creepy old man from Japan." He warned, he heard creepy tales of how disgusting villains kidnap kids over the internet.
Amy almost chuckled, but Shinsou’s concern touched her. “Hitoshi… I’ve already killed two creepy old men back at New Orleans. I can easily kill another. I’m good at killing creepy old men… I LIKE killing creepy old men.” She smiled a little too wide, intentionally making herself look a bit bloodthirsty, which… she kind of was. “But seriously… I trust this person. Everything I’ve read from her doesn’t strike me as suspicious. No bad juju from her.” This time, that was a bit more reassuring since this girl so far didn’t give Amy any bad vibes. "And besides, we haven't said our real names and where exactly we live, just our countries."
Ally-luvs-14cats: ugh my morning was rough XC
Ice-cream-FoxGirl: uh-oh. O.O What’s the T Christine? What happened?
Ally-luvs-14cats: let’s just say i got my ass kicked by one of my older sisters...mannn i thought today was the day im going to win!
Ice-cream-FoxGirl: Eh?! You didn’t win?! Awwww man… well hey, you can do it next time! This time strike when she least expects it! Go all ‘Surprise Bitch!’ on her! Works every time! 😆
Ally-luvs-14cats: XD if only that were easy. I totally went all out! Even used my special move. But she's just too dang good.. unfortunately the next time will be in a year though…
Ice-cream-FoxGirl: DAYUM! >.< That’s almost like when I didn’t pass the Seven Wonders… I mean, most witches usually die when they don’t pass but I just couldn’t do any Divination… I feel your pain though girl… :/ I can’t beat Madison… that bitch is cray-cray… but hey, you can try again next year at least! ;)
"She only knows that you're a witch?" Shinsou asked as they approach Amy's dorm room.
Amy tried not to look so obvious, but that was just in her nature unless she was trying to manipulate someone. “Yup… that’s… that’s all she knows… she definitely doesn’t know all my friends’ names… just the girls from the coven…” She muttered, not being discreet at all. But… Amy was a risk-taker by nature, it was something she needed to seriously work on.
Ally-luvs-14cats: Also I got some news! Like a future warning...
Ice-cream-FoxGirl: Oh? Future warning eh? I wanna hear that T.
Ally-luvs-14cats: pfft..anyways yea im going to be M.I.A. im going to be moving sooo i wont be able to talk to you for a few days...ill be moving to a new country annnd guess where it will be!?
Ice-cream-FoxGirl: AWWW! >.< Booo! Oh well… will miss u gurl~. Have fun with moving! Aaaaaaaaand… France? Canada? New Orleans~? … Norway?
Ally-luvs-14cats: PFFT! New Orleans isnt a country! XD Also none of those are correct btw..
Ice-cream-FoxGirl: XD Yeah but New Orleans is AWESOME!! Aaaand… Taiwan? … London? Paris? Maybe Tokyo?
Ally-luvs-14cats: Ding Ding! It is JAPAN!~
Ice-cream-FoxGirl: O.O JAPAN?! HEY THAT’S WHERE I’M AT! GIIIIIRL~.
Ally-luvs-14cats: YEA! ill be going to this like fancy school for an exchange student program...ugh i hope this school wont be filled with snobs like the ones here..¬_¬
Ice-cream-FoxGirl:  UGH Tell me about it… I love the lot I’m stuck with, but Robichaux had cooler ladies. Now the guys here though… ;) Ooh la la girl… you’d love the guys here…… I’m licking my lips as we speak~
Ally-luvs-14cats: >u< oh my gosh! Lol! Man i hope soo...i do have a thing for Asian boys..
Ice-cream-FoxGirl: They are only some of the most beautiful men on the planet~. And these guys sure are… I have a picture of this dude I’m dating, took it when he wasn’t aware of it at the pool. Among other photos he doesn’t know I secretly have of him~. Including one of him while he was sleeping... XD
"Is that so? Amy.." A voice came up behind her and almost came out as a growl.
“AHHH!!” Amy’s eyes widened, she managed to read her most recent message, but her furious boyfriend had kind of distracted her as she jumped and screamed when he was getting too close and in a snap, she teleported at least 5 feet away to text as quickly as she could.
Ally-luvs-14cats: XD Well i gttg..I need some breakfast after that defeat..and who knows maybe we'll see other. So bye!
Ice-cream-FoxGirl: Great! Talk to u later! Can’t wait to see you! I’ll show u pics when u do! Girl bai!! I’m gonna try and not die now XD :3
Ally-luvs-14cats: Oops someone found out something XD sorry but...you are on your own!
                                    Ally-luvs-14cats had left the chat!
"AMY! GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE!"
Not many things scared Amy and not even Bakugou, but his rage was enough to raise the hairs on her back as she took off running. “No! Go drink some tea or something and ‘leaf’ me alone~!” If she was going to die, she was going to go out on a really lame pun.
Shinsou couldn’t really do anything except watch his best friend and her dumb boyfriend chase each other. He probably should have stopped Bakugou with his quirk, but… Amy wouldn’t learn anything if he did. That’s what he told himself at least.
That’s what she gets for the piss comment…

The Town That Time Forgot-Chapter 2
I've had a migraine since last night, but I pushed through it lol. So here is chapter 2! I did not mean for this chapter to be this long, but here we are XD.
We got some new characters in this chapter, and we get to meet Steve and Two-Bit! Also, Nadine was inspired by Angelique Noire and Amara was inspired by Angela Bassett.
Tumblr media
Word Inspiration: Dance
Warnings: A little bit of cussing, love triangles, Two-Bit being a complete charmer!
Word Count: 4,889
I groaned while I rolled over, Pattie's cold nose returning to my cheek as she tried to lick me into consciousness.
"I'm awake girl" I sighed while stretching, I looked over at the clock, 8 am. Covering my face with my hands I tried to rub the sleep away.
"At least as awake as I'll ever be at this hour" I spoke, my voice muffled but my answer must have sufficed because I felt Pattie jump down and leave the room. As the silence crept back into grandma's guest room, so did the voices. They were muffled so I couldn't quite make them out, but there were three different tones. Standing, I made my way into the small bathroom that was attached to the guest room. I let down my pin curls, brushing the curls into an acceptable place, and after throwing on a shirt and skirt, I put on a small amount of makeup.
'no need to be too fancy' I thought, stepping out of the room and joining grandma in the dining room.
"There she is! Good morning sleeping beauty, did Pattie wake you up?" Grandma asked, handing me a cup and gesturing towards the coffee pot.
"She knows how to do that best" I laughed before adding
"Keep licking someone's face and eventually they will wake up" I smiled, adding the sugar and cream and turning around, I realized that the two other voices belonged to the two women sitting at the table. The one was older, the mother I assumed, her looks were striking, no doubt she was still a heartbreaker, but her dark brown eyes held the wisdom of her years. Her mocha colored skin held only a few wrinkles, and her black hair was styled beautifully.
"Honey this is Amara Knights and her daughter Nadine, they live down the road" Grandma stated, motioning towards the mother, and then the girl who looked around my age, her brown eyes were more rounded than her mother's, and her lips fuller. She had high cheekbones and a sharp jawline. Her skin was a little darker than her mothers, and her black hair was styled much less, being held up by a simple bandana.
"It's very nice to meet you both" I smiled as I took a seat at the table with everyone.
"It's nice to finally meet you too, your grandmama is always talkin' about you," Amara said with a smirk towards my grandma, who lightly hit her arm.
"I do not"
"You do too," Amara said with a laugh.
"So you're twenty-five right?" Nadine asked, to which I nodded while taking a sip of my coffee.
"Awesome! It's nice to meet some new people who are around my age" She grinned.
"Yeah it is, it was hard meeting people back home, everyone just thought I was weird" I laughed.
"Tell me about it" Nadine groaned.
"Every time I go out of town I get either weird stares or rude comments"
"It's like we're supposed to be totally fine with how everyone else dresses, but our style is wrong" I added, rolling my eyes.
"Exactly!" she laughed.
"I have a feeling those two are going to be good friends" Grandma laughed.
"I was just thinkin' the same thing" Amara chuckled.
"Oh! That's right! Amara, Nadine and I have to head into town for some shopping, would you like to come along sweety?" Grandma asked.
"Sure! I'd love to" I smiled.
"We better head out before all the good dresses are gone, you know how fast they sell at Marsha's," Amara told grandma, who nodded and stood up, taking Amara and Nadine's now empty cups. I followed Grandma to the sink and washed my cup quickly before following her out, Pattie barking her goodbyes while we left.
"Shall we take my car?" Grandma asked motioning towards her pastel mauve nineteen fifty-three Buick Roadmaster.
"Sure! carpoolin' sounds fun, gives us old gals more time to talk" Amara laughed. Nadine and I climbed in the back seats first, before Amara and Grandma climbed in.
"So, have you been in town yet?" Nadine asked.
"A bit" I nodded
"I had to stop and ask for direction, but ended up running into a bit of trouble"
"Soc trouble?" Nadine groaned
"You've had it too?" I laughed.
"More often than I'd like to admit, you know, us Greasers get a bad reputation, and yet it's really the Socs who are the worst." She shook her head.
"So you're a Greaser?" I asked, to which she happily nodded.
"Heck yeah I am! Ain't you?"
"I'm...Not really sure" I laughed
"I don't know if I fit the category or Greaser or Soc"
"Well stick with me and you'll be a Greaser in no time" she winked with a smile. The rest of the car ride was filled with conversation, I found out that Nadine and her mother were originally from New Orleans but moved after her father passed, and like me, she wanted to own her own boutique one day.
"We could be partners! We could call it...Southern Charm...Or somethin' like that" Nadine beamed.
"That would be awesome!" I laughed
"We're here girls," Grandma said, parking the car and stepping out with Amara. Nadine and I got out as well, and when I looked up I realized.
"This is the little shop I parked outside of yesterday"
"Oh really? It's a good place, afterward, we can all head down to the diner for lunch, how about that?" Grandma asked
"One of Sal's homemade burgers, count me in Mrs.Smith!" Nadine laughed. Grandma and Amara headed into the store, but when I didn't hear footsteps behind me I turned to look at Nadine who was just standing on the sidewalk, looking down towards the mechanic shop. I followed her gaze and couldn't help but smile, Sodapop was leaning over a car's engine, his work shirt was tied around his waist again, and there was grease all on his arms.
"Like something you see?" I spoke lowly beside Nadine, causing her to jump, and a blush to spread over her face quickly.
"N-No! I don't know what you're talkin' about" she stuttered.
"Mmhm, that's why you're looking at that man with hearts in your eyes right?" I teased, causing her blush to worsen.
"It's not...He wouldn't...It doesn't matter"
"Hey come on, you're a beautiful girl, and he seems like a nice guy, you two would make a cute couple, ask him out" I smiled.
"Girls didn't ask guys out in the fifties remember?" She laughed.
"Ah, but in the sixties, in more liberal cities, some women asked the guy out instead" I winked at her.
"Wait, you said that he seemed like a nice guy, how do you-"
"Ellie?" Looking over, we were both met with Sodapop's smiling face, he waved us over, and without thinking I grabbed Nadine's hand and started making my way towards him.
"Sodapop helped me with the Socs yesterday," I told her as we walked, to which she made an O face.
"Hey Sodapop" I smiled when we got to him.
"Hey there" He replied, before looking over at Nadine.
"Hey Nadine, how ya been?"
"Good, same old same old, can't complain though" she shrugged with a laugh.
"So what are you two doing out and about this early?" he asked, crossing his arms and leaning against the car, I heard Nadine take a sharp breath when he did this and I had to suppress my snort of laughter.
"Grandma and Amara wanted to go shopping, figured it would be a good way to see more of the town," I told him.
"And you end up at the same place as you were yesterday" he laughed.
"Yeah, I didn't plan that" I laughed as well.
"You sure?" he smirked, I could see Nadine's shoulders slightly slump in my side view.
"Hey, you ain't gettin' paid to sit around talkin' to girls!" We heard a voice yell out, we all looked over to see a guy who couldn't have been more than a year older than Sodapop. His black hair, although slightly greased back, still fell in his face and green eyes a bit. His face was a bit more rounded but had more of a squared jaw than Sodapop. He looked like he was just as built as Sodapop though, his work shirt was open, showing off the gray undershirt, and his sleeves were rolled up to his elbows.
"Did you forget who owns this place?" Sodapop asked with a chuckle. It was only then that I took note of the sign on the shop.
'Curtis Auto Repair'
"Hey Nadine," The new guy said, a smiling appearing when he saw her.
'Hmmmmm' I thought, looking between the two.
"Hey Steve, how ya been?" Nadine asked.
"Good, keeping this guy in check" he said slinging his arm around Sodapop's shoulder, I could see now that he was a little bit shorter than Sodapop, but only by a couple of inches. Steve's eyes soon fell on me and I smiled at him.
"Well you're new"
"The pink streak gave me away huh?" I chuckled
"A bit, though there are a couple other girls in town with crazy colors in their hair" he nodded.
"This is Ellie, she's staying here with her grandmother" Sodapop stated while looking over at Steve.
"Oh? Planning on moving here or just visiting?" Steve asked.
"That will depend on if I can find a job and a house available" I chuckled.
"I'm sure something will open up" Sodapop smiled.
"Hopefully" I smiled
"I've love to move here permanently"
"You two should come to the lot tonight," Steve said suddenly.
"Another party happenin'?" Nadine asked.
"You know it, it's Friday night after all" Steve laughed.
"You should come Ellie, would be a good way for you to meet new people" Sodapop smiled.
"The parties at the lot are always fun" Nadine said turning to me.
"Lots of dancing...and cute guys" she nudged me, I knew she was trying to get me back for embarrassing her earlier.
"Am I being summoned?" A new voice asked.
"She said cute guys, not you" Steve stated, looking behind him towards a guy who's rust-colored hair was slicked back just like Steve and Sodapop's, but only a little bit fell in front of his grayish blue eyes. His face was broader than Steve and Sodapop's, matching his stocky build more. Though as he came to stand next to the two, I realized that he was a couple inches taller than Sodapop, more around six-foot. The guy looked like he could be really intimidating if he wanted to be, but the carefree smile he wore kinda diminished that. His work shirt was completely gone, revealing a grease-covered gray sleeveless undershirt that did little to hide the muscles of both his chest and arms.
"I say we let the ladies decided on that one" he replied, nodding to Nadine.
"How's it hangin' Naddie" he smiled.
"Pretty good Two, how ya been?" Nadine replied with a chuckle.
"Can't complain, even if I have to work with these two" he told her, thumbing towards Sodapop and Steve.
"I'll remember that" Sodapop smirked.
"So who do we have here?" he asked, taking my hand in his and spinning me around.
"Now you I would remember" he smiled, I felt the blush spread across my cheeks while he held my hand.
"Two-Bit, this is Ellie, she's visiting her Grandma" Steve replied.
"Awe just visiting?" Two asked, his hand still holding mine.
"U-Unless I can find a job and house" I laughed, mentally kicking myself for stuttering, something that didn't get past Two-Bit since his smile only grew.
"Well, if you ever need a place to stay" He started but Steve just snorted.
"You're still saving up for a house yourself"
"You didn't have to out me man" Two stated, looking over at Steve while his hand slowly let go of mine. Steve just shrugged, and I looked over at Nadine who was trying to hold in a laugh. Sodapop was just shaking his head with a grin on his face.
"So, the party tonight?" Nadine asked, successfully changing the topic, thank God.
"You going to the party at the lot?" Two-Bit asked me, his smile returning.
"Yeah, sure, it sounds like fun" I smiled back before we were all interrupted by a car pulling into the shop.
"Oh, we better let you guys get back to work" Nadine stated while we watched Sodapop go greet the young woman who stepped out of the car.
"Yeah, see you two tonight" Steve nodded.
"See ya later baby" Two-Bit winked.
"later Nadine" he added.
"Later Two" she laughed, Sodapop turned around and smiled at us while Steve led the woman to the waiting room.
"See you two at the party" he called before getting back to work.
"Well they seem to be a popular shop" I stated
"Most girls just go there to see Sodapop" Nadine shrugged, before she turned to me, a smirk on her lips.
"So, stuttering around Two huh?" she asked with her hands on her hips.
"Ok, I deserved that one" I replied, referring to my earlier teasing of her.
"Got a thing for jokesters? Cause that's what you'll get if you go for him" she laughed
"I don't really have a type, but I do appreciate a man that can make me laugh" I smiled as we walked into the clothing store.
"There you two are, thought we had lost ya" Amara stated with a smile.
"Sorry, we were talking to Sodapop and the guys" Nadine replied.
"Oh, you got to meet Steve and Keith? Lovely boys" Grandma replied.
'So his name is Keith? Wonder why he goes by Two-Bit'
"They kinda invited us out to the lot tonight," Nadine told her mother.
"Well you're a grown woman, I can't stop ya. Only trust that you won't do anythin' stupid" Amara replied.
"That goes for you too dear" Grandma replied.
"Especially with you being new, don't let anyone pressure you into doing something you don't want to do"
"Grandma" I laughed, nudging her.
"If I was like that I wouldn't be a virgin at twenty-five" I smiled.
"That's my girl, do the right thing and wait for the right man" she smiled.
"Hey, we should get something for the party tonight," Nadine said.
"Yeah, I could use a new outfit" I laughed.
That night around eight o clock, Nadine showed up in her car ready to head to the party. I told grandma that I wouldn't be out too late and went to join Nadine.
"You excited?" she asked on the way.
"Nervous is more like it" I laughed
"I never really was one for parties or dancing"
"Really? Oh, we're goin' have to change that. Parties here ain't like the ones in the cities, they are a lot more fun" she smiled. The lot I had learned was an old farm on the edge of town.
"Used to belong to Mr.Mckee, but after he passed his kids didn't wanna carry on the farm, so they sold it back to the city and left" Nadine explained.
"I'm shocked no one has bought it yet" I stated
"I'm not really, I think the town knows it's a place for people to come and let some steam ya know? So they figure they might as well keep it that way. Let the young people have some fun" she laughed. Arriving at the lot there was already a lot of cars parked in the grassy field. I could count at least twenty near us, but there were more in the distance. The sounds of loud voices and music could be heard as soon as we stepped out of the car and Nadine grabbed my hand and quickly led me to the barn.
The seen in front of me reminded me a little of Crybaby, the barn had been cleared of the horse stalls, now just an open layout with a stage on one side and a table set up on the other. There were people leaning against the table talking, a few already looking more than drunk, and the middle of the barn was filled with people dancing to the music.
"This is crazy!" I yelled to Nadine over the music.
"This is awesome!" She yelled back with a smile.
"Come on!" She pulled me to onto the dancefloor.
"Nadine I don't really-" I started, but she just shook her head.
"Just let go and feel the music! Dancing ain't about being perfect, it's about havin' fun!"
I laughed but nodded, soon getting into the rhythm. The song was amazing, it was Dancing in the Dark, but in a '50s style, and I had to give it up to the guy, he had a really good voice. Nadine grabbed my hand and spun me around, both of us laughing as we got into the music. It was amazing how this place really made you feel like you were still in the '50's. We all clapped for the singer and band once the song finished and Nadine soon turned towards me, panting lightly.
"wanna go grab a drink?"
"yeah" I nodded, panting as well. We made our way past the bodies as another song started up and to the drink table. Nadine grabbed two glass coke bottles out of the cooler and handed one to me.
"Since I'm driving I'll skip the beers" she laughed.
"I've never been able to get past the taste of beer" I chuckled.
"It takes a while" she replied, before looking behind me and then quickly taking my bottle, before I could question why I was being spun around and lifted up.
"You made it!" Two-Bit smiled up at me, I quickly put my hands on his shoulders so I wouldn't fall, though I had a feeling that his arms around my waist were very secure, but still.
"Y-Yeah I made it" I laughed.
"That's why I grabbed your drink" Nadine giggle.
"Come on Two, put the poor girl down" Sodapop chuckled, making his way over to us with Steve.
"Awe do I have to?" He pouted.
"Well, I mean...I can't really do much like this" I giggled.
"Fair enough" Two smiled, sitting me back down on my feet, though one of his hands stayed resting on my hip, keeping me close. I felt the blush come back as I looked over at Nadine, who only smirked and handed me my drink. Steve had handed Two-Bit back his beer and everyone started talking, it was at this time I decided to look over at Two-Bit and realized that he was wearing a Mickey Mouse shirt. I chuckled to myself, but it wasn't low enough for Two-Bit not to here, he looked over at me with a raised eyebrow before I pointed to his shirt.
"I like your shirt" I smiled, causing him to smile too.
"Yeah? You like Mickey?" He asked.
"Well, I'm more of a Minnie girl myself" I chuckled as I pulled down the collar of my shirt a bit to show the Minnie Mouse bow tattoo that rested on my shoulder. The look on his face could only be described as "in awe" before I felt him pull me closer.
"I knew you were my type of girl" he smiled. A couple of new singers got on stage and the band started up once more, Two grabbed my hand and started heading towards the dancefloor.
"Come on baby" he smiled back at me while he pulled me along. Once on the floor, we started dancing, and honestly, I had never enjoyed dancing so much. The song was a '50's sock hop version of the song Rude, and I couldn't help but laugh a bit.
"Saturday morning jumped out of bed and put on my best suit Got in my car and raced like a jet, all the way to you Knocked on your door with heart in my hand To ask you a question 'Cause I know that you're an old-fashioned man, yeah, yeah Can I have your daughter for the rest of my life? Say yes, say yes 'cause I need to know You say I'll never get your blessing 'til the day I die Tough luck, my friend, but the answer is no!
Why you gotta be so rude? Don't you know I'm human too Why you gotta be so rude I'm gonna marry her anyway Marry that girl Marry her anyway Marry that girl Yeah no matter what you say Marry that girl And we'll be a family Why you gotta be so rude"
I looked over and saw Nadine and Sodapop laughing and dancing as well. Nadine looked over at me and smiled, I couldn't help but smile back.
"I hate to do this, you leave no choice I can't live without her Love me or hate me we will be boys Standing at that alter Or we will run away To another galaxy you know You know she's in love with me She will go anywhere I go
Can I have your daughter for the rest of my life? say yes, say yes Cause I need to know You say I'll never get your blessing till the day I die Tough luck my friend cause the answer's still no!"
Two-Bit spotted Sodapop and Nadine next before his eyes glanced over at Steve who was still standing by the drinks, his smile faltered a little, and I couldn't help but ask.
"What's wrong?"
"Why you gotta be so rude? Don't you know I'm human too Why you gotta be so rude I'm gonna marry her anyway Marry that girl Marry her anyway Marry that girl Yeah no matter what you say Marry that girl And we'll be a family Why you gotta be so rude?
Can I have your daughter for the rest of my life? say yes, say yes Cause I need to know You say I'll never get your blessing till the day I die Tough luck my friend but no still means no!"
"It's nothin'" He replied shaking his head before spinning me out and back towards him.
"You sure? You're usually smiling, but you looked like you felt bad for someone just then" I replied, resting my hands on his chest while his hands came to rest on my hips.
"Notice that much about me already Minnie? I must have made an impression" He stated, his smile returning, I rolled my eyes and lightly smacked him.
"How close are you to Nadine?" He asked suddenly.
"She and I just met today, but I'd call us friends, why?" I asked
"Ok...What I'm gonna tell ya we have to keep between us, kay Minnie?" he stated seriously
"Ok Mickey" I smiled, causing him to smile again, but only for a moment.
"Steve has a thing for Nadine"
"I had suspected that, especially when he seemed to suddenly get happier when he saw her today at the shop" I stated.
"You figured it out just by him getting happier?" Two-Bit laughed.
"I'm observant...Crap...But Nadine has a thing for Sodapop" I told him, to which he only nodded.
"Yeah it's kinda obvious to everyone, but Soda only sees Nadine as a friend," he told me.
"Boy this town just became something from a movie" I laughed.
"I've been trying to get Steve and Nadine together for a couple of months now, but those two are as thick skulled as you can get" he replied.
"Hmmm"
"Hmmm what?" he asked
"Well, maybe if there are two match-makers on the case, it can work" I smirked at him.
"Are you offering to be my partner in crime Minnie?" He asked with a chuckle.
"That I am Mickey, mission: Donald and Daisy is a go" I told him with a grin, the smile on Two's face could almost be described as a child who just saw their favorite character in real life.
"Damn you're perfect" The blush came back tenfold at his words, and I looked away.
"Awe don't get shy on me now doll, I thought we were bonding" he chuckled, I couldn't help but laugh as well. After another dance, we made our way back to the drink table where everyone was.
"So, heard anythin' from Ponyboy and Johnny?" Nadine asked Sodapop.
"They are supposed to be coming to visit tomorrow actually" Sodapop replied.
"Johnny is another friend of ours, and Ponyboy is Soda's younger brother" Two spoke close to me while handing me another coke.
"Ah ok" I nodded.
"They don't live here?" I asked.
"They do, but they are at college right now" Sodapop replied.
"Aren't they coming home for the holidays same time that Dally's gettin' out of the cooler?" Two asked.
"If he gets off with good behavior again" Steve stated.
"Sounds like one of my brothers" I replied, shaking my head.
"Dally's a good guy, he just does stupid things" Nadine spoke. The conversation jumped around a lot after that, and after a couple more dances with Two-Bit, Nadine and I decided that midnight was a good time to leave.
"Hey, Minnie!" Two called, jogging up to us as we left the barn, I turned to him with a raised eyebrow.
"You wanna go catch a movie down at the drive-in sometime?" he asked. I felt the smile on my face before I even registered it. I had always wanted to go to a drive-in, and the fact that it was going to be with a cute guy was a definite plus.
"I'd love to" I nodded, a smile spreading on his face.
"Great! I'll call ya" he said, turning to leave. Laughing I ran back to the car and grabbed my purse, quickly writing down my number on a piece of paper I had, and ran back.
"Mickey!" I called, Two had just gotten back to Sodapop and Steve outside the barn when I reached him. He turned around looked at me.
"You might need this" I laughed, handing him the paper. I turned around again and saw Nadine giving me a "go on" motion, biting my lip, I turned back around and quickly kissed Two on the cheek, causing Steve and Sodapop's eyes to widen.
"See ya later Mickey" I smiled, before running back over to Nadine who was covering her mouth to stop the squeal.
"I can't believe I just did that" I giggled, a blush covering my whole face.
"I completely ship you two" Nadine laughed as we got back in the car. The car ride home was filled with giddy conversations about the night's events, but as Nadine went on about asking Sodapop to dance my mind went back to Two-Bit's words.
"Steve has a thing for Nadine"
Steve seemed like a pretty nice guy, a little rowdier than Sodapop if the party showed anything, but he always seemed to settle down a bit when Nadine came around. Sodapop was the sweet down to Earth charmer, whereas Steve seemed to be more of the slightly wild, rough and tumble guy that was actually a complete sweetheart. Poor Nadine though, Sodapop had already pretty much friendzoned her and she didn't even know. Steve and she would make a really cute couple, and it seemed like Steve was so into her that he would give her the world...If only Nadine could see that.
"Here we are, thanks again for comin' out with me tonight Ellie, it was a lot more fun with another girl around" Nadine smiled as she pulled into grandma's driveway.
"Thanks for taking me, I would love to do it again, I never thought I would enjoy dancing so much" I laughed.
"Mmhm, you were enjoyin' it a lot more when it was Two you were dancin' with" she smirked, I could feel the blush rush to my face again as I bit my lip, trying to hide the smile.
"He's a sweetheart" I giggled.
"He is, he's definitely the type that you can bring home to momma, though he may make some perverted jokes every now and then...Hopefully not in front of your momma" she laughed.
"Oh God, I don't think my mom would care actually, she's heard so many come out of my brother's mouths when they were younger" I chuckled.
"Well don't be afraid to come by anytime, and if you want, we can head over to the Curtis house tomorrow after Pony and Johnny get home so you can meet them" Nadine told me.
"I'd like that" I nodded before getting out of the car.
"Night," I told her through the open window.
"Night" she replied, backing out, and heading to her house. I made my way inside. Patting Pattie's head before heading to my room. Grandma was already asleep like I figured she would be, and as I drifted off to sleep, I remembered the night's events with a smile on my face and a song in my head.
"Why you gotta be so rude? Don't you know I'm human too Why you gotta be so rude I'm gonna marry her anyway Marry that girl Marry her anyway Marry that girl Yeah no matter what you say Marry that girl And we'll be a family
Why you gotta be so rude? Why you gotta be so rude?"

There is chapter 2! I hope you all enjoy it, and hopefully this migraine will go away so that I can start on chapter 3. Also here is a picture of Ellie’s Minnie bow tattoo.

//Idealy, what mate would have been good for Crowley? Would you have wanted a new character (man or woman) come on the show or maybe his dead wife from Fergus’s time? Or maybe they could have had Gavin stay and that could have a been a whole plot line in of itself, especially now since Crowley is dead. It would have been nice to have a young, fresh King of Hell. But the writers don’t think like that. :(
//You mean besides Dean? ;)) No, but really - I would’ve wanted him to see Billie again. There was something between them, nobody can convince me otherwise. (The looks they gave each other? The tone of their voices? The fact Billie is working for him, too? A reaper working for the King of Hell??? That’s yellin’ for backstory tbh.) They never let us know if Crowley knew Billie survived (although I believe he did not know) nor how she reacted when she found out he died. Honestly, any mate would’ve been great at any time. (Except for the whole Rowena wasn’t supposed to be his mother, but his ex-wife instead etc. She is not his ideal mate at all.)
1)Billie would’ve been a great match for him.
2)I would’ve loved to see him interact more with Mary??? She reacted the same way the boys did at first, but the longer he stuck around, the softer they got on him. (Even if not soft enough to give a shit, I think the Mary we thought we know  - not the s12 fail clone we were given would’ve eventually realized he’s not a bad guy per se.)
3)Jody, damnit. I would’ve loved to see them make up? She thought he was hot, he went through the trouble of making an online profile on dating apps??? to find and date her? Instead of just, y’know, ringing or finding her at the station.
There’s others... but those wouldn’t be ideal. The question was for ideal partners, so yeah.
The thing is, in my eyes Crowley has had a need for a certain kind of partner. He would do best with someone who is supportive and caring, but not extremely so? Like, we saw he’s uncomfortable with hugs - he is not used to kindness, so he would not be well off with someone too passive who smothers him in love. (He deserves it, mind me, but it wouldn’t be a good relationship.) Crowley needs someone tough, someone strong so he doesn’t have to worry and someone who takes over control without Crowley having to give it up (yes, that ...doesn’t really make all that much sense, it does to me, though xD) and someone powerful like Billie or someone tough like Dean, Mary, Jody ( & Bobby - they used tongue ok) would be best for him. Someone he can snark with, someone who’s as bad at emotions as he is so it doesn’t get too one-sided. He needs someone to make him listen at times. Someone to make him sit and let them take care of him, but in an utterly loving way.
Whether it’s a man or a woman, human or angel or anything else doesn’t really matter. I don’t see Crowley differentiating between genders and kinds etc. (My Crowley personally feels more drawn to men *cough* Dean *cough*, but that’s just my King - I can’t speak for canon Crowley on that bit.) He really only judges a person by their character (and decisions, but he’s rude and a King so that doesn’t count XD).
If they’d brought his ex-wife back? Damn, that would’ve been heart-breaking for sure if the canon story is even just a little close to my interpretation of it. I would’ve loved it, though. Crowley deserved to be happy. He’s been put through shit for years. There’s a point where even the King of Hell should be redeemed and that without having to die for it tbh. Anyway, yes. A new character would’ve been amazing, too. Although I think unless they gave them backstory (like with Billie), it would’ve taken quite a while to get them anywhere near trusting each other as we know that Crowley doesn’t really do the whole trust thing.
Gavin.... don’t get me started on Gavin. Talk about a WASTE of potential, like the whole McLeod family. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great for Rowena fans that she’s back, but Gavin would’ve deserved it lots more. He didn’t deserve to die like that. All the pain he’s been through, all the grief? He’d just gotten adjusted in the new world, in a new life with new possibilities - thinking he might actually be worth something. He just found out what it means to live. And then they just .... kill him off, without giving Crowley a chance to save him, they used him to make Crowley hate Rowena even more (and not just Crowley, lol) and to fill Crowley up with more pain. We barely saw anything of Gavin and then he comes back and he’s - hands down, one of the sweetest and most adorable dudes on the show with so much potential omg. They used him to break Crowley even further - it’s not fair to the fans nor the characters and ....given that this post is hella long, I think it’s clear that even after all this time I am beyond bitter about all of this. Really really bitter.

My experience/review watching Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! in theaters (NO SPOILERS)
Tumblr media
The day has finally come...I WAS LOOKING FOWARD TO THIS ALL WEEK! After it was first announced in December 2016 that the 20th Pokémon movie would be paying homage to Ash’s origins, I GOT SUPER EXCITED! I was always updated with the news surrounding this film, and got excited every time new information came out (despite some negative reaction by some fans). You can tell by searching through my blog archive...so I pre-ordered the tickets by September, and got the earliest showing with the best seats in the house!
Tumblr media
When the day finally came (which was yesterday lol), I got my good ol’ high school buddy to go with me, who was a fan of Pokémon and the anime. Of course, it was a special premiere day, and had to dress for the occasion by wearing my Ash Kalos hat, and the original Team Rocket shirt.
Tumblr media
Now for my thoughts on the movie...is it my favorite out of all Pokémon movies? Nope, but it’s definitely up there! First off let me just say, that THERE ARE SOOOO MANY EASTER EGGS (a.k.a. past anime/movie references) IN THIS MOVIE! When I get the Blu-ray copy for this (hopefully there is one?), I will be going back to multiple scenes pausing so many shots!
Anyway, the movie overall was really awesome and a fun adventure to watch! It was (as advertised) a retelling of Ash’s journey starting out as a Pokémon trainer, and his road to becoming a Pokémon Master. The ultimate goal in this movie was to see Ho-Oh after it left its Rainbow Wing for Ash to pick up. To be honest, I’m not really sure if majority of the movie even takes place in the Kanto region o_O A couple nostalgic scenes were re-done beautifully, and teary :’( Some of those scenes really took me back to my childhood watching the old episodes in my VHS player. It wasn't exactly as portrayed in the canon anime, which makes this alternative universe really interesting to think about Ash’s journey. The most notable thing I would have to say about this movie is Charmander’s development. It’s really surprising how different it is from the disobedient one we knew when it evolved as a Charmeleon. At one point of the movie (I won’t say much), Ash really did something UNCHARACTERISTIC of him that really caught me off guard with his Pokémon and friends. Then again this is an AU, so I shouldn't be surprised if his attitude is not exactly like the character I grew up with. Definitely keep your eyes on it when watching!
One of my favorite parts was definitely towards the climax when Ash was is in this BIZARRE but familiar environment that really didn’t seem to fit when you usually watch Pokémon (you’ll have to see it to find out). Again SO MANY REFERENCES caught my eye during that scene, and it doesn't just apply to Pokémon. But I’m pretty sure what EVERYONE in the theater was shocked about, EVEN ME, was what happened between Ash and Pikachu at the very end of the film...very touching and very cute is all I can say. One final thing I would like to say is THE ENDING + CREDITS SCENE WAS A BLESSING. I WILL NEED TO GIF THOSE WHEN THE DVD COMES OUT (ᗒᗨᗕ)
Tumblr media
As for the characters, the main supporting stars take spotlight! Verity and Sorrel...LOVE THEM! A lot of people might say how rushed their characters were rushed, but it was a 90+ minute movie and they could only do so much. Ash is the main star, and most of the story should revolve around him, so I honestly think both they had enough time to show off who they are, and what their purpose is in the film. Besides both of them being from Sinnoh, Sinnoh Confirmed their backstories...OH MY GOD BRO! I may got spoiled beforehand why Verity was traveling alone with her Piplup (this Piplup really gave me a lot of vibes similar to Dawn’s Piplup), but I DID NOT anticipate one of Sorrel’s flashback scenes which pretty much broke everyone’s heart in the cinema including mine (it’s still sad thinking about it ಥ_ಥ). Both have solid goals, although Verity’s seems to be more of a personal issue she wants to avoid. Also you definitely have to pay attention to Verity’s scenes since her personal issue with a certain someone wasn't directly given to the audience nor even Ash and Sorrel...just pay attention to detail 👀 Oh yeah, and if you’re a shipping type of person (multishippers to be exact), there’s definitely some cute scenes that Verity has with her companions ;) It just makes me wish that Verity and Sorrel can be future canon traveling partners because all three have great chemistry in the movie together as friends, even though if it was just for a short period. Their Ho-Oh adventure/journey is what really made them close.
Although Team Rocket’s involvement was very minimal in the movie, and was really there for comic relief background, it made me happy that they didn’t really interfere with the main storyline of Ash’s quest to find Ho-Oh. Ash and Pikachu developed well without their involvement, and writers probably didn’t want to put too much time giving a battle scene with them. Sure, I wish they could be used better, but better have them there than not at all right? They were still lovable as always with their goofy antics shown throughout the movie.
Tumblr media
Cross, who served to be the big bad rival in the movie, really proved himself to be a real jerk. He is a bit like Paul, only thing is that Cross is more aggressive with his claims. He’s the type of trainer who is a self-centered brat and believes everything should go his way or else he does things by force. He does share a similarity with Ash though, but I’m not saying what it is since it is a spoiler. He served as the Alolan flavor of this movie since he was the only one carrying Gen. VII Pokémon. On the other hand we have the cute but mysterious new Pokémon, Marshadow that actually plays a bigger role in the movie than what you initially thought of. You’d think it’s just there all the time in the background, but you know something is going on as it lurks everywhere throughout the film.
Now there really isn’t that much to say about Bonjī since he only appears at the later part of the movie. I just wish that the old man had more of a backstory and a reason why he was chasing Ho-Oh all his life. Speaking of which, I was happy that the all of the Legendary Beasts get their big screen spotlight along with Ho-Oh. The other thing I wish was that we get to see what really happened with Ho-Oh in the end since the epic final battle of the movie was a bit questionable.
Tumblr media
At the end of the day, me and my friend had such a blast! We even got the promotional TCG card of Ash’s Pikachu (FYI this is a really useful card in competitive play if you play the TCG) We both have A LOT of disagreements when it comes to the Pokémon anime, but both of us really loved and enjoyed the movie. Funny story, there were these 4 girls probably around my age (fangirls to be exact) beside me who were absolutely having a blast watching the movie. They screamed out of joy, shouted when Cross was being an ass, squealed in cute moments, cried in the sad moments, and basically were really into the scenes and characters like singing the Pokémon theme song at the beginning of the movie. Annoying? Yes, but I can’t really blame if they had a good time, and I think that’s the most important thing when you watch things you love with friends to share the moments with (though they probably could have toned it down a bit...I’m sure they were self-aware they were loud). My friend couldn't stand them, but I just tried to distract him with my noise since I didn’t want to ruin the girls’ fun time beside me. Plus I was a bit talkative too in several scenes of the film. Honestly I wanted to shout at the beginning of the movie because I WAS THAT HYPED, but didn’t want to embarrass my friend :p *Shoutout to the girl with the Charmander plush beside me at the AMC Fullerton theater if you’re reading this xD Hope you didn’t get too much tears on your plush from some emotional scenes in the movie (⋟﹏⋞)
Tumblr media
The ultimate question is, should you go see this movie?
ABSOLUTELY! If you’re just a casual fan who doesn’t really keep up with the anime or movies after the original, you probably wouldn’t enjoy this movie that much. But I would say still watch it if you really love Pokémon! I count each movie as its own thing because none of them are really canon with the main series storyline. Movie 20 really stands out on its own because of how different it is from the rest, notably Ash’s journey getting a brand new fresh reboot, and the fact that there really isn’t an antagonist here who is trying to “rule the world” by getting an enormous power or whatever. This movie was a celebration of what the series has accomplished over the past 20 years.
However, this is just my opinion, and everyone has different tastes. All I’m saying is that you’ll only know how you truly feel when you see it! If you ask me, the best review of this movie is YOUR REVIEW. And from what I’m seeing, it really makes me happy to hear most of you guys are seeing it in theaters, and saying how much you enjoyed it. Let's support a great movie with a great dub! If you can’t, you can always wait for the DVD release and support them that way! If you want to watch the original Japanese version with English subtitles, be sure to buy the DVD too! Just support any way you can to show your appreciation and love for the Pokémon franchise.
As for my thoughts on spoilers, I will keep that to myself for the time being probably until a couple of weeks after the DVD release...will probably be making some GIFs or reblogging posts about it since I’m always late to the GIF making game LOL! However if you want to chat about it, feel free to message me OR join my Discord server and chat about it with other people who have seen the movie under the spoiler channel: https://discord.gg/mVSgxbp
Welp that was a long post! I’m pretty sure I have some text/grammar errors here, but whatever I’m tired and I want to get this posted already ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ My next long post will probably be my 2017 PokéAni highlights...’til then, PEACE

Playful
Summary: I get a little too playful and possibly break Shiroe… >.> (But when does this not happen? Lol)
W: self-insert, fluff, extreme amounts of flirting (possible cringe flirting, you’ve been warned XD)
I was definitely the more playful one in our relationship. I couldn’t say enough just how much I love to fluster Shiroe and play with him. He’s the cutest when he gets all ready and stumbling on his words. When he’s not expecting it, I can definitely cause him to squirm. Only a few times has he turned the tables and proved that he does actually have his own cards up his sleeve. His plays are subtle. I could miss it if I don’t pay attention very hard, and I usually don’t. Not for lack of trying either. I just love knowing that the roles can switched in a matter of seconds.
Today was not one of those days.
Shiroe didn’t see anything coming. In fact, I was sure that it would have gone over his head if I hadn’t made it a point for him to notice. My good mood is usually a good indicator for when I’m feeling rather playful. But for the past few days I’ve had a constant good mood, and Shiroe has been busy. Therefor, he’s neither noticed nor payed much attention to that fact. He and I still share small conversations, mostly when I force him to take a break and have lunch with me.
When I came to check on him today, he was actually standing and moving around. A big surprise for me, one that might have been disappointing if I wasn’t as understanding as I was. Smiling warmly, I approached him with a light bounce to my step, pressing a kiss to his lips rather abruptly. He was taken aback by it, but it definitely wasn’t surprising. The smile tugged at his lips as he kissed me back, hand politely holding my hip. Even though we’re together he still touches me with such respect and care. His hands and fingers were feather light against my skin and body, only touching harder whenever I asked.
Which I sometimes do.
“Did I catch you at a good time?” I asked, raising my eyebrows.
“Yeah. I was just about to take a break.”
“You? Taking a break without anyone having to beg? Are you sick?”
He laughed, rolling his eyes and wrapping both arms around my waist. I yelped, feeling my cheeks darken at the surprise. There he was flustering me. Beating me to punch before I could even get through introductions. “I guess you’re a good influence,” He said, softly and against my lips. I giggled loudly, not wanting to show too much proof that I was enjoying this. But I definitely was. It was so hard not to look at him this close and not lose my mind. I felt my consciousness slipping, right before he pressed his lips to mine.
Then, I was gone, completely.
He stepped closer, using his hands on my hips to pull me against him. I moaned inwardly, kissing back deeply and strong. My lips curled into a smile, lifting a hand to grasp the side of his face. His kisses were soft, lingering with such passion that I’d only felt once in my life. And every time he kissed me I felt it over and over again. Although, it was nothing like it was the first time. That kind of spark is hard to recreate, but I think about it constantly. Remembering it every time he gives me such a kiss like this.
His lips were so soft, pulling me back in and making my knees so weak. It seemed to end way too soon for my liking, faltering a bit when I felt that he was pulling away. My eyes fluttered open, the sight of my flustered cheeks and heavy eyelids making Shiroe chuckle softly. He was enjoying this, wasn’t he? Seeing me waiting for him to dip back in and give me more. His eyes searched mine, reaching his hand up and tracing the curve of my jawline. I felt my lips quivering between my teeth, begging to be kissed once again.
“I love you,” Shiroe said, shaking me to the bone.
Every time I hear him it’s like the first time he said it. It’s strange knowing that he does love me, but I’m always somehow surprised every time he tells me that he does. I couldn’t help but smile at my thoughts, catching myself staring at him for way too long. “I love you more,” I said in return. There I go, falling even deeper for him than I had been a few seconds ago. I was so freaking cheesy.
He quirked an eyebrow, his fingers slipping through my own and squeezing gently. I smiled wider, seeing his own teasing smile curling at the corners of his lips. “That’s impossible,” He said. I hummed softly, raising my own eyebrows in question. I knew what he was talking about, but I wanted to tease him a little bit more. Might as well get payback for earlier.
“What is?” I asked, tilting my head cutely.
“For you to love me more than I love you.”
“But I do. So it can’t,” I said as I poked his nose, “be possible.”
I poked his nose two more times for emphasis to the phrase, watching his cheeks turn pink at the realization of my smooth comment. Winking playfully, I took my lower lip back between my teeth and slipped my hand through his hair. I was closing in on him, making his cheeks turn redder and redder. The man who was making me weak in the knees a second ago was now putty in my hands. I giggled softly to myself, letting my lips brush his own close enough to barely touch. But only just a little.
He cleared his throat, his eyes wandering the room before they landed back on me. I could see him fighting himself about something. It was obvious by the furrow of his brows and flickering of his eyes. Stepping a little closer, I sprinkled kisses at the base of his throat, feeling him swallow rather harshly. I smirked against his skin, feeling him starting to tense the more that I brushed my lips against his skin.
“I… I should… get back,” He stammered, although there was something in the tone of his voice that said the opposite.
“Are you sure? You did say you needed a break.”
“Yeah. I think I’ve had a long enough… break.”
I giggled, letting my hands fall from him all too quickly. If Shiroe says he needs to get back to work, then I will definitely let him go. But I still smirked wickedly, continuing to tease him from afar. On the inside, I knew that he was only telling me this so I’d leave him alone. It was getting to be too much that I was here. He didn’t want the distraction. And if he thinks that I’m such a distraction, then I would gladly become a distraction.
Giving his hand a gently squeeze, I let the smirk turn into a happy smile. “Of course, love. Whatever you need,” I said. Shiroe relaxed, giving me a gentle smile in return. I leaned up to give his cheek a gentle peck to say goodbye. I promised to see him later, taking a few steps backwards. It was hard saying goodbye when I had just entered, but I knew that I’d see him in a few short hours. My smile told him that I was, in fact, going to miss him. I didn’t even have to say it. Even though, my slight hesitation to let his hand go told him that as well.
As we crossed paths for him to return to his seat, I felt the playful side of me slowly creeping back. I couldn’t leave the room without giving him a little something to remember. Mischief flickered in my eyes, and I felt my lips curling at the thought. He would never see it coming. Not until I gave him a playful smack on his ass as he passed me. When he turned around, staring at me with wide eyes, I thought I might lose it. Break down and start laughing.
But I didn’t.
I winked, giving him a sly little grin.
“Come see me later, big boy,” I said, seductively.
Then, I left.
I didn’t give him a second glance, knowing exactly what was happening to him. I could almost picture him sputtering and completely red. He wouldn’t be able to focus for hours, remembering the moment a little too much. As I left the room, I couldn’t stop grinning from ear to ear. I had, yet again, had the last laugh.

Weekly reflection
May 27th - June 2nd, 2018
Sunday: Finally met up with chi Ngoc after schedule syncing issues. It only took like 3 weeks to finalize a date lolol. Anyways, by the time I got there, they had already eaten and the men were well into their drinking. Chi Ngoc brought out a steamed ginger fish that she had made and stated that it was all mine to eat, since I arrived so late. Oops... but I’m not mad though; it was delicious. The men were being ridiculous as usual. They’re convinced that when a woman goes on to get a higher degree/education, that she’ll attract “higher quality” men & leave her current partner. I disagreed, but they kept upping their scenarios until it was ridiculously funny. See: Anh Phuc: What if he was rich. Would you leave your current partner? Me: No, I wouldn’t Anh Phuc: What if he was rich & you could stay at home & do nothing Me: ..... I’m listening. But I love my bf, he’s an amazing man. How can I guarantee my happiness? How do I know this new man is quality material? Anh Phuc: ok, what if he was rich, you could travel, stay home and do nothing, and he’s EXACTLY like your bf Me: Well....... like, in that case.....!  When I told my bf of this story afterwards, he was like, “I’d like a man like that too!” XD Other hilarious moments ensued with grandpa, too much to type out. But I think in the beginning, grandpa had a moment where he didn’t remember who I was... oh well. But he was also adamant that he’s healthy (which, physically, he’s in great shape for his age) & doesn’t need to take his medications. I was like, no grandpa, you take your dang medications. Him: I just take them for funsies because the doc said to. Me: !!!  Later on, my aunt leans towards me and whispers conspiratorially: he takes a handful of pills every morning; I see him do it! Hilarious. I didn’t get to interact with the young ones too much. The young ones here are a little too young to “hang” with me, but I always feel stuck in this weird in-between of hanging out with the kiddos or with the adults. I don’t quite feel like I totally fit in either group.
Tuesday: Anne and I talk on the phone at 0800... and after her original MOH wasn’t supportive enough, she upgraded her fiance’s sister to MOH. And then a friend from Germany wasn’t able to make it as bridesmaids... so guess who’s now a bridesmaids? Your gal XD It’s my first time ever being a bridesmaids & I have no clue what to do. I do have to buy an icy blue dress though and although it’s a pretty dress, I wonder how it’ll look on my skin tone :o Regardless, I’m super excited!! At this current time, I’m tracking flight prices!
Wednesday: Mo sau’s family contacted me stating that Cindy’s graduation is on Saturday. Well, guess what? I’ve already made plans for that day. I almost raged all over the place (kind of still did) but the bf stopped me and asked me to breath. He basically grounded me down lol. But I was annoyed because it’s about respect for my time. I will make time for family, no doubt, but it’s not unconditional. You have to be respectful, in general, and it’s good practice as a human being btw. Anyways, I ended up shifting my Saturday plans after she apologized. We’ll see if it happens again.
Friday: I went to go see a gynecologist for the first time.. I’ve been having Lucy problems since Vietnam & gynecologist thinks that it’s probably related to that time that I got wrecked by food poisoning :/ yeah, wouldn’t recommend getting food poisoning in another country & wrecking your internal flora. Urgghhhhh. So now, I have yeast & VB & I’m OVER IT. Bought 2 months worth of probiotics, gonna take it daily. Also got a prescription for antibiotics & anti-fungals but I’m gonna wait til after Austin to take them. The bf thinks I’m ridiculous for waiting til after but I’m not gonna be that pleb that doesn’t drink during our mini vacation!! Anyways, wish the girl some luck, she’s gonna need it :(
Saturday: I go to Cindy’s graduation. Afterwards, they wanted to eat breakfast & I was just like: uhm, no, I already have plans. So I didn’t attend. Then the adults asked if I wanted to do dinner tonight in celebration and Jerrol & I said “sure.” Anyways, we went to Honda to verify something, went home to eat, then to pick up my car, then out to meet with Amy & Kim at Truck Yard. Super chill, fun outdoors place. Houston is a new kind of hot for me, something that I have to get used to. It’s so humid that it’s literally like a sauna, quite different from the dry heat that I’m used to (and honestly, prefer). But it was a looot of fun. I don’t know what it was, but after 2.5 drinks, I was kind of buzzed. At that point, we were hungry so we lyfted to Jinya’s & nommed on delicious pork baos (that brought me closer to heaven with every bite) & great ramen. Kim & Amy updated us on their wedding planning, future apartment goals, and life in general. Amy updated us about her mom being more open after her mom’s perceived worst fear came to fruition... and it wasn’t that bad. It was really nice to hear from them & catch up. After Jinya, we walked around, Amy dropped her popsicle because it melted before she could eat it all :(, and we randomly dropped into High Fashion Home. Realllly cute things, definitely will be coming back! While here, I learned from mo sau that Cindy wasn’t going to be attending her own dinner... and I was like nani? So why would I stop my own plans to attend something where the honoree wasn’t even going to attend? So we finished up our outing and then all drove back to my house for a tour. There, we noticed a warping in our laminate in the entertainment room from the heat :/ dang Houston heat lol... so now I’m a little bit more motivated to move into the house because I’d hate to turn the AC on at 2 locations :/

June 6th-June 12th, 2020 Creator Babble Archive
The archive for the Creator Babble chat that occurred from June 6th, 2020 to June 12th, 2020.  The chat focused on the following question:
How do you personally decide to kill-off a character, and how do you handle it?
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
I never kill a char for shock or to motivate other characters (hate, hate, HATE those tropes); but if that character's decisions result in their death, so be it. But I always double check if decisions with huge results like death make sense for that character, to avoid the "ideot ball" problem.
Mind you, I only have three character's whose death would break the story, all others are fair game.
Miranda
I have yet to kill a character. But I do have a death planned...and right now the reasoning is to show how far a character has come from being a self-preservationist ass. If I maintain that route it won’t be done lightly and the person who does it will feel the weight of their decision.
LadyLazuli (Phantomarine)
Any deaths in my current work happened before the story started, and... that changed nothing. They’re still characters in the story I don’t know if I could actually KILL-kill a character without knowing that their death is an important stepping-stone to the plot’s conclusion. But even then, the character can feel more like a device than a person. Maybe for a future work, I can do it... but... for this one... I’m actually banking on things worse than death
copperine (Lady Changeling)
I have a main character death planned. It's not quite the same as most deaths but explaining further would be spoilers.
That is... not a helpful contribution, but oh well.
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
It's such a battle of 'do or do not' at times with these things! You want that death to make an impact for the story, however it may lend to the narrative, and that makes planning just when and where so difficult!. When we first started writing GJS, we had SO MANY planned deaths! That was the first draft, which when we read it later as we approached those parts, made us realise that these character kill offs didnt really affect the story in a way readers would care for. (in fact, it was a chapter before that we decided to save an important one!) We later calmed down our edgy-ness, and had any such sort of death fit more cohesive with the tone of the story-- and I think that is a big part!
mariah (rainy day dreams)
I've had kind of a similar character death journey with my story. There were a lot more for more shallow reasons when I was starting out. I think that probably is also a symptom of writting most of those deaths as an edgy teenager :p But over time I've cut a lot of them or rewritten them, in the case of backstory deaths, so that they're more nuanced. Even the like three I have planned to happen as plot points may end up being changed by the time I get to actually scripting it. Honestly, if I was writing a new story I'm not sure how I would approach having death involved or if I would. Death is a really defining experience. For the backstory deaths in RDD they're included because they define some aspect of the characters they effect. Sometimes it's movtivation (though not the I Must Avenge! kind) and sometimes it's just how they view the world. I think that's the way I would continue to use death as a device, though there are all kinds of other experiences that can create the same outcome. Death isn't always the most interesting device to use for creating depth or raising the stakes.
carcarchu
In PP the eliminations are kind of the equivalent of dying. Most of them don't have a lot of emotional weight but i'm really dreading having to eliminate the more important supporting characters later. i feel like the author of Princess when she wrote in her author's notes that she couldn't stop crying when she had to kill off her main character and had to draw through the tears, that's me but like 100 chapters from now
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
I wholeheartedly agree, Mariah. I think as we grow, we find out ways to problem solve without being so absolute about our decisions in a sense
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
I have killed off characters in my story; heck, their deaths are part of of the whole problem! I chose to kill them off because they’re not just one off characters; their deaths have a major impact on my protagonist’s character development. If they have to die, then they shouldn’t be dismissed at all. Rather, it has long lasting effects of trauma and that’s something the protagonist has to move on from.
carcarchu
Oh and also in my second story which i have not drawn yet the main character dies in the first chapter but she comes back to life after winning a bet with a demon and that whole thing is an extremely important plot point that ties the entire series together
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
Like @LadyLazuli (Phantomarine), most of my character deaths happened before the story even begun. Most of them were incredibly important to one character or more. Although... Since the story of Whispers of the Past is told largely through flashback, it feels like these deaths just happened. And when I wrote the prequel stories to my comic, I battled myself over a certain death that I didn't want to happen. I realized very quickly that I don't make the rules.
eliushi [a winged tale]
My kill test is: if the character dies, what sorts of impact would it have on other characters? The narrative? Readers? Could it be misinterpreted as a message I wouldn’t want to send as an author? And what happens if the character survives? I do have planned character deaths as I don’t want my characters to have plot armour. I approach this by designing the deaths/narrative and events leading up to it important and impactful. Hopefully I’ll stick the landing.
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
(omg Kill Test Eli)
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
That’s a really good test to use, Eli. It’s good to understand what a character’s impact is on the whole story if they die. Deaths are pretty traumatic, so it would also work to see how other characters react to it.
mariah (rainy day dreams)
The "what happens if the character survives" is the big one I always consider it's the one that has saved a lot of characters because the answer has been more interesting for me to write than the death was XD(edited)
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
That's fascinating to think about... Holy hell, if one particular character didn't die, it would be an entirely different story!
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
Sometimes the survival of a character has even more impact than the death. Unless they come back as a ghost, which in this case, they can still actively influence the story as opposed to being inactive
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
generally when i'm writing character arcs, i start from the end and work backwards. so if at some point in an arc i get to something like "this character needs to experience death for their growth" i'll put a character earlier in their story to get killed off. or if the character arc ended with the character's death, i'll make sure to build up to it throughout. i guess my style of writing is kinda different to some others'? in the sense that i don't go "ok here are my OCs, let's see what happens to them" - rather, i go "here's what happened to my OCs, let's see how they got there". though, that does kinda result in me tipping my hand a bit, lol. like if a character gets killed by one of the protagonists, i'll generally make the killed character a big jerk. if the character is killed by an antagonist to spur on the protagonists, i'll generally make the killed character really likeable.
eliushi [a winged tale]
I also consider when you want to kill a character during an arc. An incomplete arc is more heartbreaking than one that is complete before the end
That’s totally fair snuffysam. It’s all about the perspective
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
ohh that is an interesting way to write Snuffy-- that would definitely produce interesting results and a cool way to tackle character development
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
It is a good way of thinking and also introduces a lot of possibilities. Because what if the character killed by the protagonists had legitimate grief/beef? Or that the story hints at their backstory a bit more and show them to be more human? It can set up some good questions about the moral grey area.
I like to believe that each character thinks they are their own protagonist of the story....whether it be heroic, anti heroic, villainous or in between.
eliushi [a winged tale]
Sometimes the survival of a character has even more impact than the death. Unless they come back as a ghost, which in this case, they can still actively influence the story as opposed to being inactive
It’s also interesting to think about death as a concept. If your story deals with an after death story vs death as an absolute vs reincarnation one
Death itself can mean different things to individual characters
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
Death of a friend, death of a loved one....death of a personality.
Or even growing up can be seen as one, since it’s death of your childhood.
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
Because what if the character killed by the protagonists had legitimate grief/beef? Or that the story hints at their backstory a bit more and show them to be more human? It can set up some good questions about the moral grey area.
Yeah, exactly. Like, I have a character who is currently stricken with guilt over a guy he killed. And, like, the killed guy in question was a huge jerk as mentioned, but, like... he had a family. So it's a lot of figuring out what one could do to make up for that sort of thing.
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
Exactly. Even if they were portrayed as jerks (or actually are jerks, like in the case of your story)...they're still people and have their own stories to tell, too.
Imagine the stories you lose out when you completely demonize or put someone on a pedestal.....not seeing them as human at all.
eliushi [a winged tale]
I definitely prefer round rather than flat characters and even if it’s one who’s only seen once in the story, I like to add some contrasting characteristics to hint at their “person” even though their roles are small. It’s the little things that will be most impactful especially when they die
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
especially when they die oh my god Eli your bloodthirst is showing
eliushi [a winged tale]
I there’s a place for characters who are designed to pass for the sake of the story’s theme/character impact/setting danger
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
hmmm there is. And the trope is called Stuffed in the Fridge, when that character is specifically slated to die for the sake of story progression, like you said.(edited)
eliushi [a winged tale]
Stuffed into the Fridge: A character is killed off in a particularly gruesome manner and left to be found just to offend or insult someone, or to cause someone serious anguish.
I think there’s a fine line between the intentions for sure
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
Absolutely. Depending on how you write it, you can pull if off very, very well.
Oh! I think I meant to say the lost lenore
Usually people who have died and who end up driving the characters' motivations, my bad
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
yeah there are times that killing off a character for another character's progression can be done well like the first 15 minutes of Up are considered some of the best scenes in pixar history and that's totally lost lenore
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
It all depends if the character actually was a character with their own hopes or dreams or just a thing to be smashed to make someone sad.
Did the character who died have agency? Did they have their own hopes and dreams?
Thing is, I personally only care for character‘s death if I also cared about their lifes.
It‘s hard to explain, but so many lifes only seem to matter in stories because they matter for someone more valuable; and there‘s a definite pattern which character gets to be valuable on their own and which one is only cared about because it impacts someone deemed more worthy.
LadyLazuli (Phantomarine)
Gurren Lagann is still my benchmark for a meaningful, impactful, heart-wrenching character death - one that propels the story forward (eventually) but also brings it to a screeching halt long enough to really delve into the emotions behind it. It's a death that doesn't feel necessary at first, but you look back and see the doors it opened to deeper conflicts.
Shizamura 🌟 O Sarilho
Ohhh, character death!! I'm gonna second a lot of opinions here about death having to be relevant and affecting other characters; and I sure wanna bring the point home that even in war, violence has meaning and life and death have meaning too. Deaths of characters happen mostly for plot reasons: they happen so I can show things (about them or about the others around them). I like to think in terms of what characters represent and the way a character dies says a lot about what you personally think about the things they represent. So I have characters that from moment one I could say "Oh no this guy's gotta die and he's gonna have to die a LOT". Also gonna go there and say that yeah sure I am guilty of the killing for motivating other characters, but also to put the plot in motion. Others, I hope, also tell us something about the characters involved in their deaths...(edited)
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
(YESS CLAIRE!!! I always say the Kamina Death when we talk about that possibility in stories XD it was such a good impact)
LadyLazuli (Phantomarine)
I know people bring it up SO MUCH (along with one in Madoka... which was equally shocking!) but there's a reason they do!
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
hhh yesssss Madoka too!
Shizamura 🌟 O Sarilho
those deaths are brought up for very good reasons, they are huge marking points in both narratives
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
Madoka and the deaths in it always felt shallow to me. I facepalmed and went „of course“ on the first one. I knew it would happen from the moment the happy music started.
eliushi [a winged tale]
Deaths are just another plot device. Just have to make them count... or not... depending on what you want to do as the author! Imagine all the control... But to make a death impactful, that’s a harder question. For your wips, I’m curious what are your go to tips? Great points about agency, multifaceted, relationships with other characters.
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
.........Write them as a character first before their relationships with others. Or if you do write their relationships first...brainstorm why they interact with others the way they do. Did something in their life influence it?
And...never stop asking questions about your characters. Fire away them yourself or have a friend ask you constantly. Thinking fast sometimes helps you get an eureka! moment about your characters and reach a deep part you might not have realized it at first.
Shizamura 🌟 O Sarilho
I started the story knowing I was gonna have to kill a character in the next one or two chapters and I wanted it to matter; if I had started the story killing him right away, it would look too much like a cheap, shock-value death, and its impact on the other characters could possibly look like an overreaction. So I had to make sure that character would have a lot of interactions with others that would show at least the points of his personality that I cared for the most.(edited)
It felt like running against the clock and everytime he was on the spotlight I was just "oh no I gotta make this count, I gotta make him matter" and I hope I could make it look like he mattered to the people around him(edited)
eliushi [a winged tale]
I really like that shizamura! Making the scene and character portrayal count as we slowly move towards their demise
I’m also curious when people realize a death flag for a character. I try not to hint at the death until it happens but I’m sure there are some things that clue the readers in
Shizamura 🌟 O Sarilho
I tried using red flags by making other characters sound like they'd be the ones to die to draw attention from my target, tho I don't know to which extent that work
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
I don't think anyone actually disagrees with me, but just bringing up a counter-point: character death does not have to be surprising to be impactful!
FeatherNotes(Krispy)
agreed!
DanitheCarutor
Depends on the story, I have a couple where characters die. One is a fantasy/sci-fi/war story where death just happens, it has a mix of the overall horror of war and the desensitization to it all, but there is also a scene where it has personal significance in a good and bad way. (Super vague, I know.) I also have a cosmic horror/fantasy comic where characters die, but they don't officially go until their souls are gone, so "death" doesn't have much importance but the devourment of souls and fading away of old souls has a sobering importance, with the former having an almost taboo feeling. I will admit to really enjoying low-blow gallows humor, as a mean joke I was actually considering making a fake ending in my current comic where an important character dies, making the other have to reflect on everything alone, and it would have dropped the story into full blown Tragedy territory. Doing this solely to see how my readers would react, but that would be too mean, and I don't have the energy or time for something like that. Although in all seriousness, as desensitized as I am to death and gore, I personally try to handle death as respectfully as possible. It's a big deal, and I don't like the use of it as a cheap story device.
Deo101 [Millennium]
Death... Hm. I have very few stories in which I actually kill off Characters. For me, personally, the Characters kind of live in my head, and if I know I am going to kill them they are sort of "branded" in a sense in a way that taints them for me even while I'm working with them when they're alive. It's hard to explain, but I look at those Characters differently and it's always in the context of making the death as powerful as I can, rather than the kinds of things I enjoy working on more. So, I very rarely decide to kill Characters. I can find more uses for them when they're alive! The only time I will do it is if it's a short story, and the death is an intrinsic part of the tale, or in longer stories if it is something to establish stakes (if I want the stakes to be death, sometimes I don't!) Other than that, I really try to write around deaths, cause sometimes Character deaths feel like "and now we don't have to deal with writing them anymore!" Rather than being something very potent. I've not yet had a character die outside of story outlines and plans. So I'm not sure I can say how I approach it, yet.
Tantz Aerine (Without Moonlight)
Every character that dies in my stories hurts. Some more than others for sure, but they all hurt me I don't know if it makes sense but I try to save them. It's just that their personalities and choices tie my hands. If I can save them in a way that would be plausible for the story setting, I do. I like happy endings. Usually, the deaths in my stories leave gaping holes. In the style of 'things would have gone much better if so-and-so hadn't died.' And if I kill, I kill permanently. No fake outs.
Nutty (Court of Roses)
I rarely think about character deaths very often, myself. I know, weird, right, considering I have a murder mystery in my own comic? However, the victim, Count Bailey, was a death I was ready for and planned very carefully around. In the brief time we saw him alive, he was likeable and fair, to get readers wanting justice for his murder. He was also passionate in his beliefs, and this last bit allowed me to hit the ground running with possible motivations for the killer(s?). As time goes on, I also plan to reveal more about him as well. So, even though he's dead, he's still very much an active character. Retroactive? But, yeah, I suppose that's a bit of a different take from others, considering the genre. In general, I'm not a fan of killing off characters, unless it drives the story, and I would be hard-pressed to do it especially to a character my readers have bonded with. That feels cruel to me, and I wouldn't want to do that to other people.
I want to make clear that I'm definitely not judging others for doing that! It's just not the kind of writing I could do myself.
snuffysam (Super Galaxy Knights)
Yeah that's exactly my thinking too. Like sometimes a character (or multiple) needs to die to move the story forward, but I can't imagine writing something Game of Thrones-like where every week you tune in to see who's gonna die. Like, I just can't imagine writing character arcs in that sort of environment, unless I was writing some experimental story about characters dealing with their own mortality in different ways. Like a more philosophical Final Destination. Not to knock anyone who does, but I just can't write like that.
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
This might be splitting hairs or something, but I feel like while I am not at all against "character deaths," I don't like to "kill off characters." Probably an approach/mindset difference (and different approaches are all valid!) rather than a difference in the results.
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
It's kinda the same for me. Because I don't really "kill off characters," they just... die, and I'm basically just a witness.
sierrabravo (Hans Vogel is Dead)
I killed my protagonist in the first chapter
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
Well, I mean, with a title like Hans Vogel is Dead...
sierrabravo (Hans Vogel is Dead)
but also there's a difference between killing a character and necessarily removing them from the narrative altogether: I used to be SUPER into killing ALL THE CHARACTERS!11! when I was younger and have since moved away from it (a lot in part because of how turned off I was from GoT) and have been trying other ways of getting rid of characters
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
Honestly, why can't more characters leave because they left on a journey or something?
sierrabravo (Hans Vogel is Dead)
yeah!
or like, opened a bookstore or something
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
Yeah!
sierrabravo (Hans Vogel is Dead)
or if they're bad there's a lot worse things (dramatic music)
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
ooof
I mean
I don't know if I'd like to see anything too gruesome, even for villains
(Doesn't help that my villain is my favorite)
sierrabravo (Hans Vogel is Dead)
oh no, I'm a baby lmao I can't do gore and that kinda stuff :''"D
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
I mean, or mental torture
nah thanks
I'd rather just let 'em die at that rate
sierrabravo (Hans Vogel is Dead)
I'm a big fan of The Good Place theory of letting them punish themselves
there's a lot of options out there for sure
Cronaj (Whispers of the Past)
^^^
eliushi [a winged tale]
I’d like to think a character killed on screen give some sort of impact and meaning to other characters and the readers, that can’t be achieved in other ways (leaving for a journey, survived but different, losing memory etc).
sierrabravo (Hans Vogel is Dead)
that's definitely true! it depends on what you want the reader to get out of the character being taken out of the narrative
sssfrs (JOE IS DEAD)
I haven't committed to killing off any characters yet and I'm not sure how I'm going to go about it when I do. Only one character has really died so far (Joe) and that was just the premise for the whole thing so it wasn't a difficult decision. I don't know whether I'm going to kill other characters at this point
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
If I need to get rid of a character, my favourite way is to give them exactly what they want. Since I write adventure stories, that usually leads to their retirement - or with them having to deal with the consequences of the fullfillment, which means they are interesting to write and read about again.
AntiBunny
It really varies depending on what the story calls for, and the character arc. In the case of Nailbat http://nailbat.AntiBunny.net/ the main character's death was already a foregone conclusion from the very beginning. It was the premise of the entire story. Everything built up to that moment.
A character just died in http://AntiBunny.net/ as well. In this case it was more to make a statement. There wasn't a place for this villain's story to go other than prison or death, and I chose to kill him off because he lived inflicting violence on others, and his last moment is one of shock that he'd meet his end at that very same violence. It's a human moment for an otherwise monstrous character as he reaches out, perhaps asking for help, but it's too late.
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
My comics don't kill a lot of characters mid-story, but now that I'm thinking about it...there's a whole pattern of "characters whose arcs include managing the fallout of pre-canon deaths."
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
Leif & Thorn stars a team of knights that was twice as big before a flubbed dragonslaying mission, so I had to come up with a pack of character designs that I only ever draw when the main cast are reminiscing. https://leifandthorn.com/comic/watching-over-me-629/
eliushi [a winged tale]
Pre-canon deaths I’m also interested in yours or anyone’s approaches to deaths that happen before the story started. What made you decide that? How do you keep the readers interested and care for those who’ve already passed on?
DaeofthePast
i imagine there'd be some flashbacks? :0
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
Well, in this case, the readers don't really need to care for the passed-on knights...the important part is you can tell the survivors cared about them. And the survivors are the main cast. So if they're sad about something, you care based on your attachment to them, not based on having a personal attachment to the ex-knights.
🌈ERROR404 🌈
I think that it really depends on the genre for sure. The generic death of the father in a tragic accident can turn into an action protagonist's reason to start their adventure, and never appear again and still work for the genre/ Meanwhile, for something that's noir or mystery styled, the death of the father before the story starts affect very specifically the characters more than the audience. It's important to understand the genre when working with death post mortem
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
Occasionally there's a flashback that brings someone out in more detail, but it's for the sake of "let's explore a specific way that character's death is affecting one of the survivors."
boogeymadam
catching up to this for the first time and there's a lot of great advice in here "KILL TEST" ASDFG but like its so wise so i can't make too much fun of it :')
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
The reason I decided to have so many of them was that Thorn is "the only survivor of meeting the dragon face-to-face", and I want readers to appreciate how big a deal that was! A looming pile of non-survivors makes the point pretty well.
boogeymadam
something already mentioned way up there earlier: killing characters to motivate others has been treated kinda taboo lately (and i imagine a lot of pre-canon deaths fall into that category,??) but its a perfectly valid thing to do as long as the characters would be multidimensional regardless of the death. i think. it can definitely depend on the voice the story is trying to have~ Or a readers Knowing The Stakes type death like Erin just mentioned those are fun!
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
Honestly, I don't think pre-canon deaths work the same way there. The worst part is when a new character gets introduced and you start to get invested in them, to care about their feelings and think about where their storyline is going, and then it turns out they were just a plot device whose only purpose was to get killed off.
If the character's already gone by the time the story starts, there's none of that bait-and-switch feeling.
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
I think one of the big issues with "killing characters to motivate others" was sexism; like, far too often it's female characters being killed to motivate the male lead. It's extra questionable when the female character is supposedly equally (or even more so) good at surviving/ fighting as the dude.
But like any trope, it's not inherently bad; there's just been Weird trends with people using them thoughtlessly.
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
Oh, definitely. If part of the reason you're excited about the new character is "finally, another woman in this dude-heavy series"! (or "finally, a same-sex couple!" or "finally, a black person at all!"...) then it hits doubly hard.
keii’ii (Heart of Keol)
Yeeeeeah...
Erin Ptah (BICP | Leif & Thorn)
Because it's not just "the writer(s) got me invested in this female character and suddenly they offed her", it's also "the writer(s) gave the impression that they were going to include and develop more characters from this underrepresented group, and suddenly it turns out, nope, they didn't care about that at all."
And honestly, that's super easy to offset, if you just put in more variety of characters from the beginning.
DaeofthePast
^^^ I get flashbacks to basically every zombie apocalypse story I've watched.
eliushi [a winged tale]
The bait and switch feeling can be tricky to navigate for sure. I find that act 2 deaths can sometimes feel that way. Act 1 deaths tend to motivate the protagonists/be the inciting incident and act 3 deaths kind of form the finale.
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
Nyx+Nyssa deals with the pre-story death of Nyssa's mother, but her actions and decisions she made before she dies reverbrate through the whole story. She's more a post-mortem character than offed-and-gone. Dead ten years and STILL causing trouble.
... Another reason I don't like death-to-motivate-main-character thing is that it can so, so easily feel cheap and generic, too. "Yay. Another dead romantic interest/younger sibling" way - as if the writer couldn't think of something more interesting or more fitting to the story/setting.
It's like... So many stories use it as the character-motivation equivalent of the "As you know, Bob..." style exposition.
Can it be used well? Yup! Everything can! But it so, so, so often isn't.
AntiBunny
In the case of Pre-canon deaths I do have the mother of the 4 Rabbintlov sisters. In this case while one male character has been chasing revenge all these years, it's more been about how these 4 sisters interact and grow up, without her. The youngest never knowing her mother, the middle two being most traumatized and it becoming a source of strife, while the oldest is wracked with the responsibility of having to be both sister and mother to her younger siblings.
I think deaths that happen before the story tend to be less about the character who died, and how the characters in the story deal with loss, and have to go on without them.
copperine (Lady Changeling)
(I am lurking here because any comments about character death in my own comic are spoilers and I don't have any to mention in the ones I read yet)
DaeofthePast
I haven’t killed anyone off (yet) but I do plan to. This specific character was created for a purpose and once that purpose is done, then I’ll probably kill them off. Unless I think of something else they can do, otherwise there’s no point in keeping them.
Idk how much I want to say without spoiling, uh, I tend to think of character by what role/job I’m having them do in the story. Like, “I need a character can teach the protagonist this life lesson” and then if there’s no existing character that can fill that role, then I create a new character.
So this character that’s going to die has a very important role in the beginning to get the ball rolling. I could possibly keep them, but I’ll be introducing some other characters later on and I might have too many characters to juggle and keep track of by that point So that’s my decision making process for killing them off.
DanitheCarutor
Pre-canon deaths I’m also interested in yours or anyone’s approaches to deaths that happen before the story started. What made you decide that? How do you keep the readers interested and care for those who’ve already passed on?
FFFF I didn't even think about this! I actually have a pre-canon death, from a reader perspective it's supposed to be seen as a third party learning about the death of someone's relative, you see how it affects the characters and memories of them tend to be more romanticized. In all honesty I don't really care if readers are interested in or care about him? I just want them to know he existed at one point, and he that he played a large roll in the MCs lives, holding much greater importance to Julian than Apollo. A lot of brainstorming went into his removal from the main plot, if he stayed my comic wouldn't even be a thing. I considered at one point just having him disappear, but that would honestly be too cruel for the characters, (like when a loved one disappears, leaving the family wondering what happened or if they're still alive. Not having that closure can be devastating for many people.), and the main story is already bleak enough. Lol Presentation wise, I use flashbacks and character discussion, although not a whole lot. Just enough to get an idea of what he meant to them, and what his role was. I want to leave it vague for the audience to speculate. The most recurring approach is the use of photos, or a single photo specifically, since it's the only tangible proof of his existence.
Moral_Gutpunch
I cheated at first. The one who died is a ghost, but talking about him turns into talking about others who died, be they legendary, a death that has political effect or personal effect
Feather J. Fern
I always plan deaths of characters, anyone can die. The favourite, the villian, the best friend, the main character, someone's coffee, anything is free game for my writing.

A Really Important Chapter
CaraBanned:
So let's see...how did the last dream end? With Kysme jokingly saying "that totally makes me wanna kiss you" and Liyah just going "Well, why haven't you?" not so jokingly...
I assume there wouldn't be a real action taken right now? Instead, Aaliyah just...turns her head back towards the sky, silently. "I kind of mean it, Kysme. Why haven't you kissed me yet?" And there was silence, or at least a certain type of white noise in which you know somebody is talking, but the words fall on deaf ears. (I imagine Kysme replies dumbly, "What do you mean", or a variation of that)
" Actually, no, I have a better question- do you think there could ever be anything between us? I don't mean anything casual or like friends with benefits sort of shit. Could you see us being more than friends, the meaningful way?" No white noise, only silence. Aaliyah probably huffs, her face feeling kind of hot on account of being embarrassed. She shouldn't have brought this up, but oh well, it's already up. She might as well continue. So she does. "You don't gotta lie to me or anything, coddle my feelings or some shit. I just wanna know! And I'm not trying to force anything on you, because I don't really know how I feel about you either. I know that I care about you at least, and sometimes i mix feelings up within myself. I just want things to be clear. So..." She'd blow a strand of hair out of her face with a sigh. "Yeah."
There, she said it. Now all she has to do is wait.(edited)
And that's when things got unclear because how the fuck am i supposed to figure out meaningful dialogue for kysme by myself-
Memphis-Rex:
My girl.
//Clutches chest
CaraBanned:
LMAO MEMPHIS
Memphis-Rex:
SHE JUST LAID IT OUT STRAIGHT AND BARE IN ONE SHOT.
The bravery-
CaraBanned:
GOD YEAH tbh I think the whole journey of this dreamscape just...came from that talk a long time ago? Me asking you if you think that kysme could toy with the fact that the two could be something more? (Rightly named in the blog "something more") basically just liyah putting her heart out on her sleeve all vulnerable and what not and trusting kysme to be serious with her for a second.
if only I could be like that in real life tho, shitttt
Memphis-Rex:
I feel serious Kysme would be silent a lot since he's actually taking time to chew over his words before spitting them out. So yeah those silences are something-
CaraBanned:
Oh gosh, glad that was right on the mark then. Don't take too long though, Kysme. Liyah might start feeling real silly, getting up and trying to brush it off like
Memphis-Rex :
And hmmmm. I feel like he might counter with a question first. After a tense moment he relaxes back into the grass, staring at the sky as well. "I don't know. I don't usually feel this way about people either. Am I even worth a genuine effort at something more? I fuck up so easily."
In that brief moment his tough guy persona slips aside, and you can see his own insecurity of losing things he cares about and his fears of being emotional.
Maybe, for once, his voice sounds gentle.
Kysme is fully aware of how shitty he can be. Sometimes he can't help it. In a way, he doesn't want to be the one who hurts her.
Would he be able to forgive himself for such a thing.
CaraBanned:
Oh, hey Memphis?
Fuck you???
This hurts more than it should?? Vunerable Kysme????ouch???
Lmao you can sleep now though if needed, you'll be rewarded a nice piece of HC. Thank you for your efforts.
CaraBanned:
His response would make liyah do a double take-turning her head to watch him again, her face obviously surprised by his change of tone. Wow. Just wow. Imagine her mouth opening to form words, though not being able to really say anything at first. Just studying his face.
"You're worth it."
Not a general, safe, 'everyone is worth it', or a shrug and wishy-washy kind of deliverance. It would be said with a quiet kind of conviction, like she actually means it. Because she does. And she smiles a bit at that, fondly. "Trust me, Kysme. I've been through the ringer a couple times with this kind of shit. Fucking up comes with the playing field- don't be so hard on yourself."
And I can see her doing something sweet, like reaching out and grabbing a hold of kysme's hand, gently so. Something to know that she's there, that she hears him. "But someone else's words probably mean nothing when your mind is convinced. Maybe you have to convince yourself that youre worth it, yeah?" She'd sigh, still her hand on top of his, a comfortable sort of silence.
Memphis-Rex:
There's gonna be a pause as he relishes the sensation of her hands on his. You know with how often he takes her hand jokingly to stare at its glistening surface, it's probably the first time she held his hand of her own accord. He'd bite his lip, say something like "I'll work on it." Another moment. Then, a careful movement as to not crush the arm that was previously holding his hand, he rolls over to lie on his side, closer to her, propping himself up on one elbow. There's this intense look in his candy colored eyes as he gazes down upon her face, and this time he doesn't hide it (recap-- the time he'd get distracted looking at her while she talks about movies). He's just taking it all in, up close, straightforwardly. "...But we can change one thing first." He says, referring to the earlier question of why he hasn't kissed her yet. And---
(ok if Aaliyah isn't down with this we can always change it XD)(edited)
Memphis-Rex:
Pt. 2--- Hypothetically speaking, if they do indeed get together, I feel nothing too much will change about their dynamics? They still have their silly banters and teasing, but finally they're not repressing their feelings so it feels more..liberating? To show some act of affection.
And I'm not saying Kysme becomes perfect boyfriend material immediately. He still makes her eyes roll to the sky with his stupidity. ("Shit, he's the biggest dumbass in the world but he's my dumbass" suddenly crosses my mind)
But there are some subtle changes in the way he acts now.(edited)
Is she going to feel bothered by his habit of occasionally sleeping with strangers (seeing her past with another pretty boy cough cough)? Cause I think the amount of times he fools around will dwindle if he's in a relationship but habits/hobbies die hard...He would try to be transparent about the matter though.
CaraBanned:
(I FUCKING FELL ALSEEP WAITING FOR THIS. GOD. FUCKING. DAMNIT.)
(First of all aaliyah is down yes of course the fuck you think memphis //still reading/)
Memphis-Rex:
(HAHAHA)
(And you woke up?! Now?!)
(also doesn't hurt to double check lel)
CaraBanned:
(LOL my body must have realized that I was missing straight up PERFECT QUALITY HCING)
(And true! Okay hold on while I respond something good.)
Oh gosh, your respond to the HC kind of like, feels like the perfect end already, but I will add on one thing to it- the idea of Aaliyah's heart thumping faster and faster as she realizes what exactly kysme is about to do. A loud thump, thump, thump pounding against her ears. Her eyes growing wider and her heart jumping at her throat, because holy shit...is he really gonna do it? Is he really going to do it? and when he does do it, its like something clicks in place with her head. Something nice and tender and a little scary. She'd close her eyes and sink into the kiss almost immediately, moving her hands up to cup his cheeks and hoping to god that that burning sensation comes soon- it would be safe to assume that she herself has been guilty of wondering how it would feel on her lips, sue her. (If it does come soon then she's probably left breathless and panting and if kysme asks if she needs a second she just goes "Fuck no." She was waiting for this kiss, even if she didnt think she was ever going to get it. (stay tuned for pt.2)
And I was gonna say that too, tbh! Like...they didn't need much to shift at all- theyve always been pretty comfy with each other and to the outside viewer it probably doesnt look like anything at all has changed unless they spot some nuances (like couch hand holding, aaliyah not complaining when the guy touches her, even if he grabs her by the waist or something, her sitting on his lap while watching a movie, etc) It just kind of...comes naturally. Liberating, as you say. Just...everything is right for once. (Also don't mind me but I totally wouldn't mind if this became non-hypothetical, if ya know what I mean, hueh hueh. //rubs my grubby raccoon hands together/).
The stupidity becomes endearing in a way, exactly as you say ("my big pink dumbass").
No, I don't think she's going to be bothered by it if he's honest about it (and as long as he saves his sweetest parts for her, you know? Like don't go confiding in strangers when you have a perfectly good girlfriend here to cuddle with.) The issue that destroyed her and Samael's relationship, besides the politics, was the lying to cover the hookups and the using and emotional abuse. It wasn't the fact that Sam was sleeping around, its the fact that she was the last to know, usually through other people. And what a shitty feeling is that. So even if he still has trouble with the deep conversation portion or the relationship, as long as he isn't lying to her face on petty shit, she wont make a big deal about it. Maybe even jokes about it when he tells her. ("Oh, cool. So is that the one you were talking about organizing the threesome with?") And that is to say that although she herself isn't someone to sleep around, I could see her branching out herself, once or twice. Lol (also speaking of which if we are going down this road she 'll likely tell him about that whole relationship fiasco, get ready for that can of worms kysme)
