Derek Morgan AU x Princess: Bodyguard
Derek Morgan is the bodyguard of Princess Y/N, the Future Queen. He has been guarding her for 3 years.
Y/N had a bad feeling about the ball being thrown for her and knew something was up, however, she couldn't have prevented it.
Y/N = Your Name
** I don't own any of the Criminal Minds characters **
Morgan's POV
It all happened so fast. Some kind of fog was thrown in the room. Intruders ran in waving guns around. Someone knocked me out before I could get to Princess Y/N.
I woke up to find myself tied up to a chair and held at gunpoint. I look over and see the rest of the guests and the whole royal family is in the same position.
I see the intruders brought stuff to livestream the whole hostage situation and a TV is up, so we can see what viewers are seeing. I don't get why though. Nothing makes sense right now. There hasn't been news of a threat or anything.
I glance over at Princess Y/N to see if she's alright and I notice her slyly watching the intruders. I wonder what she's thinking. She's always thinking and planning. It's part of why I think she'll be a great Queen because of how she is able to think on her toes.
One of the men with a gun walks up to Princess Y/N and asks, "Do you have power as Princess? Or do you have to have your coronation first?" Princess Y/N answers, "I have some power. What would like done?" The man with the gun says "We want the government to fall. We don't believe it represents the people." Princess Y/N asks, "And what can I do for you? Surely this whole hostage situation would've worked better with Parliament." Oh my:/ The man slaps her in the face causing me to flinch and I try to move to protect her. Someone grabs the chair I'm in and clicks the gun at my side. Princess Y/N glances my way and gives me a slight smile. She turns back to the man in front of her and exclaims, "Do you have a person who you think can best represent the people? I'd like to hear them out and hear their plans for the future." She's playing along with them and she's buying time. What can I do? Come on think Derek think.
Princess Y/N's POV
I'm buying time for all of the guests and me. The more time they talk, the less chance there is that any of us get hurt. If the leader could just leave the room, I could convince someone to let me pee and possibly get a message out.
I notice Derek Morgan, my bodyguard, sitting there watching the intruders. Hopefully, he can help me somehow. I bet he already has a plan. I mean he's been guarding me for 3 years successfully and we've made it out of some sticky situations. Not gonna lie, he's pretty hot all tied up right now, and wow. I should not be thinking about this at the moment. Shut up brain!
Derek's POV
I look around the room casually and count roughly 20 intruders in the room. I also see at least 8 other bodyguards tied up in here. If I set one intruder off, hopefully, they get the memo and can knock the rest out.
I look at one of the other ones and give him three slow nods. That means follow my lead in code. He does three nods back and starts to pass around the message.
I slowly begin untying the knots around my hands and I get it to where I can throw the rope off anytime now. I just need the perfect moment to do it.
Princess Y/N manages to keep them from actually injuring her more until she asks, "And do you think I represent the people? I'm genuinely just wondering." One of them says, "You're not elected by the people, so no. However, it would be treason to kill you." She replies, "Well you're already committing treason right now by attempting to overthrow the government." I swiftly jump up from my chair, kick it back into the guard behind me, and knock him out. I steal his gun and place it in my belt.
When I knock the first guard out, I move on to another one until I hear "Stop or the Princess dies!" I turn around and see a gun to her head. I hold my gun up and point it at the man holding the gun to her head. He wiggles the gun by her head taunting me. I exclaim, "Let's not make hasty decisions. Think through this. You don't want to do this." The guard asks, "Why don't I, Mister Loyal?" I answer, "If you kill off the Princess, our country's allies will revolt and fight you. From what I can see, you are not ready to take part in a war. Rethink this. What should you do instead? What are your options?" I hope I'm stalling him. I mean he does look a little confused and stumped.
I make eye contact with the Princess and I nods at her three times. She blinks three times and I know she knows the code. Good!
I yell "Now!" Princess Y/N kicks back into the guy and drops to the ground as I shoot at him. I hit him and he fell backward. I rush over to Princess Y/N and gently cup her face with one of my hands. She leans into my hand and I ask, "Are you okay? I'm sorry that I almost got you killed." She nods and says, "Yes thanks, Derek. I'm okay and I put myself in danger as much as you did. It's okay. Um... We should do something about the rest of the intruders, right?" I nod and turn to where everyone is staring. Did they all watch me cup her face? Geez. Great. This is great. I yell "Intruders, hands up. We'll take you down for questioning! Royal guards, take them out to the holding cells, please. Everyone else, please stay put until it is clear. Does anyone know how to turn off all the TV equipment and would be willing to do so?" Someone raises their hand and I lead them over. They then get working on it.
I help Princess Y/N start untying the ropes around the rest of the royal family. We manage to get them all off and they all hug her. I let them have a family moment and I make sure the TV is turned off.
That Night ... Derek's POV still
I finally get to relax. I mean I did take a shower already, but now I can sleep. I could also drink, but that wouldn't help my feelings and thoughts to cool down.
I can't lose Princess Y/N. We've been close for 3 years and I've really tried to push away my feelings for her, but I can't. She's kind, strong, tough, beautiful, and loving. She's the ideal woman. However, she is also the Princess soon-to-be Queen. That means that I cannot date or be with her romantically as much as I would like that. Then tonight when she kept putting herself in danger, I was freaking out on the inside and she worried me. I hope she is okay right now. I cannot help but wonder if she is okay. Maybe I should check up on her.
Yeah, I'm going to make sure she is okay.
Princess Y/N's POV
I can't sleep. My brain is too awake. Should I go for a walk around the palace? I'll go see if the guards are up for it or if I'm allowed to leave.
I open my door and see Derek Morgan holding his hand up like he was about to knock. Wait is he in pajamas? Wow, he can rock gray sweatpants. Damn, this man is fine.
He smirks a little and says, "Eyes are up here, Princess." I smirk and say, "Come on in, Derek. Please step in." I move aside and he steps inside the room. I pat the space next to me on the couch and exclaim, "Please just sit here. Forget that I am who I am and that there are rules. Just sit." He nods and sits next to me.
I glance at him and ask, "So what brought you to my bedroom at 1:00 a.m.?" He answers, "I wanted to check on you. I wanted to know how you were doing. You worried me when you taunted the intruders. I know you can take care of yourself, but the man did have a gun to your head." I nod and reply, "I know what I did was risky, but I also knew I had people in there that I could trust to help me. I knew you could come up with a plan, so I stalled and it worked. As far as how I am, I will be honest my brain is so awake. I can't sleep." He replies, "I couldn't either. I was going to drink, but that would've kept me more awake. I chose to check on you instead." I reply, "Thanks. I appreciate that. Thank you again for today. I'm so grateful for you and everything you do for me." He replies, "I'm glad you, the palace staff, and your family were all able to walk away from it." I nod and smile.
He exclaims, "I know you said you couldn't fall asleep, so if you'd like, I can give you a back scratch or a small massage to help you relax." I reply, "Okay. Do you mind if I lay in my bed?" He shakes his head.
I climb into my bed and ask, "Before I get settled, may I have a hug? It feels like a hugging moment." He nods and we hug. He kisses the top of my head too. Aw wait that was cute:-)
I then lay down and he rubs my back. I start to drift off a little and then I hear a door creak open. I snap up into a sitting position and ask, "What was that?" He answers, "The balcony door just creaked a little because of the wind. I promise no one is trying to break in. You are safe." I reply, "I'm sorry for that. I just am so stressed and today was a lot." I put my hands over my head and sit in a ball shape.
I feel my bed dip near my feet meaning he must've sat on my bed. I then feel his hands rub my arms. He leans close to me and whispers in my ear, "You're safe. We have everyone locked up or dead. I can stay the night in your room if you want me to. I don't mind for tonight." I move my face to look at him and I notice we are only 6 inches apart. I exclaim, "Thank you, Derek. Do you want to stay on the other side of my bed?" He answers "I don't think I could control myself." I ask, "From doing what?" He then leans forward and asks, "May I kiss you?" I answer, "Yes," and he kisses me. Omg!
When he pulls away, I exclaim, "Wow you're a good kisser. I really don't mind if you are in the same bed as me. Please stay for tonight at least." He kisses me on the cheek and then crawls over to the other side of the bed.
I flip off the light and we both end up falling asleep just by being in each other's presence.
A few hours later, I wake up to mumbling and I glance at where Derek is. I lean over and hear him mumbling, "You're safe. She's safe. It's okay. Relax." I gently rub his arm and he jolts up. I say softly, "Hey you had a nightmare or something. You were mumbling a lot. Are you okay? Do you want to talk about it?" He answers, "I was just scared you got hurt again. I see now you are okay." I reply, "I am yes. Do you want to cuddle? It might help, so you know I'm safe." He replies, "Yes please." I lay down and wrap my arms around him. He wraps his arms around me and we fall asleep like that.

So, I have a few things to say and/or questions, and you don't have to answer and/or say anything about them for any of them and/or all of them ofc. So first of all, that post with 2012 Mom Leo (which always brings me joy, I love 2012 Mom Leo so much) and the whole, him and Raph coming to an agreement for Raph to swear in Japanese, because he doesn't want him swearing in front of kids, esp. Rise Mikey. And Raph swearing in front of 2003 Splinter who just basically got shocked and was going to say something, but then didn't, because Raph is the same, and then Rise Splinter also overhearing and just laughing and then 2012 Leo finding out from his brothers (I think) and just falling on the floor and cracking up was just, so nice and funny. ^^
Ok, now for some other stuff. Ok, so you know, how you and some other people were talking about 2012 Leo maybe having a heart condition (because 2012 Leo can never have enough issues, right, he could use more issues and/or conditions, because we/people are "evil", lol. I wonder if it would it make Leo (not just 2012, but in general) feel better that most of the suffering people put him through, is mostly always done out of love for him? Probably not. And now, I gotta know, is there a chance that this new headcanon might be a thing in ur Universal Collison fic, because like, the even more angst that would cause. Like, the Rise characters would just be like, man Leo, "how are u even functioning at all with all that?", and would just be very concerned.
Ok, now unto yet another thing. But like, I saw u might be writing some fics with the Leopril ship, and yes, just yes. I still love Donnie/April and Casey/Donnie (or all three), but I have grown to really like Leopril too now. As well as Caseynardo now too; I also really like Caseynardo now too. I also just really love all these characters, and really like the dynamics of these characters, so I am always up to seeing more of that. Plus like, I have grown to really like the Leopril and Caseynardo ship (which is Casey and Leo ofc) now.
Last things for now. Thanks for updating "A Universal Collison" and happy early 10 chapters! Just one more chapter until 10 after all!!
And like, I have already said that in the reply of that post, but God, I would love to see a fic of Foot/Bodyguard, gotten separated from his family and raised in The Foot with Kairi and is her bodyguard and just strong friends with her and Shini (I love them and Kairi, Shini, Leo trio so much). Because like, the fluff, the angst, just everything?!?? It sounds exactly like the kind of fic I would love (I am also a sucker for Foot!Leo, dark(er) Leo, and/or more villainous Leo and/or etc., because I am evil, and I like to see my favorite in interesting stories and/or situations and stuff). Anyways, I really like that AU basically.
Alright, I still have more to say, but God, this Ask has gotten long enough. Praying it gets through properly.
Aaaaaaaa-! I'm glad that you liked my one post featuring 12 Mom Leo and his agreement with his little brother who ended up putting his foot in his mouth in front of 03 Splinter lol. I was hoping for a comedic effect and I'm glad that it's come out well!!! Now onwards to your questions!!!!
Tbh I actually was thinking about adding the heart condition thing into A Universal Collision, however unfortunately I've already got a lot of stuff already planned for our boy 12 Leo such as his knee and vocal chords and a few other things. And while I'd love to include it everything that I have planned somewhat for the fic is already becoming a bit longer than I was originally planning to make it and I'd hate to make the fic so long that it ends up boring people with everything. Plus I wanna give some of the spotlight to the others as well (I'm already getting stuff set up for Rise Mikey whoop-) so it'd probably make my fic way too long. However if I do go writing for this angsty head canon and all the hurt/comfort it could bring it'll probably be it's own little one shot or a little mini series that diverges from the main timeline Universal Collision is currently experiencing.
To answer your second question omfg yesssss-!!! Leopril is such a cute ship and I totally agree with you!! Also Caseynardo???? Casey and Leo have a ship???? WHY HAVEN'T I HEARD ABOUT THIS OMFG-
But you're absolutely right about how the characters all have amazing dynamics and relationships that just make them so fun to play around with!!! Especially the Leopril ship, like there's just so much chemistry between them and their personalities blend extremely well together making them work well together!!! Seeing them interacting and fighting crime together is honestly just as much of a treat as seeing Capritello interact!!!!
And aaaaaa thank you for the congratulations!! Can you believe that this silly little self indulgent project is nearly ten chapters long????? Like omfg????? Tbh with you I never expected for the fic to get as long as it's gotten, in fact I was planning on leaving chapter one as a one shot in the beginning of all this insanity much like my one fic An Eldest Son's Duty. However hilariously enough the idea wouldn't leave me alone and here we are! Still super wild and overwhelming that my fic blew up the way it did like??? It's honestly just a self indulgent fic and I never could've foreseen just how big it'd get especially since there's so many other amazing writers out there and I'm like honestly an amateur in the field of writing lmao. It's wild and I'm really happy that you and others enjoy it so much!!! And you're welcome!!! I'm always here to please with giving out new chapters!!!!
Shsgsgsgsg Foot Leo being raised by the Shredder alongside Karai lives rent free in my head. I personally live for the Oroku siblings and their bestie Shinigami as they reek havoc wherever they go. And omg yessss the angst, the hurt, the fluff!!! There's just so many things that this type of scenario can give and it's one of the reasons why it's been rotting in my brain!! Just the whole premise of Leo being separated from his family and being raised with Karai as her personal bodyguard and her closest companion is honestly so good!! Especially when they meet up with the others later within their lives and things spiral from there and secrets and lies and conflicting emotions and thoughts occur within them!!! Plus Leo being morally more grey than he already is is honestly such a fun concept to think about like Oroku Leo is the type of guy who kills a guy first and doesn't ask questions much to the horror of Raph, Donnie and Mikey and to the amusement of Karai and Shinigami lol. Honestly bro I'm planning on writing something for this AU eventually because it's just too good to pass up on!!! And I'm so glad that you're enjoying the thoughts and ideas of it just as much as I am!!!! Like seriously though we need more Foot Leo in stories because it's just such a good and interesting concept and there's just so many ways people can go about this!!!!

The tit for tat game was well known to both of their top confidants and lieutenants because it had been going on ever since Natsu and Lucy broke up. Plus, it was hard to get around such knowledge considering most of them came from the same neighborhoods. These intrigues ebbed and flowed like waves. Months could pass by without any interactions between the two, at other times they’d go back and forth continuously until one of them finally gave up, and on the odd occasion ended in a huge fight that led to another round of ignoring each other. Up until now, it had been kind of amusing to watch them torture each other because it was better than a drama shows on television. But that didn’t mean Natsu, and Lucy’s friends didn’t worry about one or both being truly hurt one day because of it.
“It’s fine,” Natsu rolled his eyes as Gray chastised him after the soapland incident. The two men were at Natsu’s home after work hours and supposed to be relaxing. But clearly his friend didn’t want to drop the subject. “What’s the big deal?”
“Dude, you let yourself be blindfolded in a public space! Have you forgotten what kind of business we’re in? What if it had been an assassin instead?”
“Oh, that’s just ridiculous. We’re talking about Lucy’s company, and I trust their security measures because she has just as much to lose if a hit took place there.”
“Still, you should be more careful, at least take a bodyguard with you…”
Natsu’s eyebrow twitched in irritation. “And what, so they can watch the show? We got any voyeurs on the payroll? Cause I can’t think of anyone here who’d wanna see another guy getting his balls fondled!”
Gray ran a hand down his face. “So not the mental image I wanted. You’re missing the point.” He sighed. “Natsu you are the head of this clan, and your safety is my top priority.”
“I get it, I get it,” Natsu drawled.
“And frankly,” Gray continued, “you’ve become distracted by her lately.”
“Tch! No, I haven’t!”
“Yeah, you are. You think I haven’t noticed? I know you drive by her place sometimes. I know you’ve followed her to that coffee shop she likes to frequent. But ever since her employee was robbed, things have escalated again.”
“You’re imagining things and apparently spying on me. I’m just keeping an eye on the competition.”
“Watching over you is my job! That’s not spying.” Gray crossed his arms. “And oh, it’s no doubt that you’re keeping an eye on her. That’s why you went to Katsunuma’s party and to soapland too. The problem is you’re getting sloppy and sloppy gets people killed.”
Natsu groaned. “Are you done yet? We’re supposed to be enjoying the baseball game, not psychoanalyzing my life.”
“Almost.” Gray placed a hand on his friends’ knee and leaned in. “Natsu, you’ve been chasing that tail since high school, just lock her down and convince her to work together already.”
Natsu snorted a laugh. “Gray we all grew up together, so what in all these years makes you think that’s a possibility? You know damn well Lucy’s not a woman you can control without her consent.” Natsu knew that, and frankly he loved that part of her. In fact, it made him even more fired up whenever he thought about it, just like a treasure you don’t just find but must win at the end of a game. “I’ll find a way, some day.”
“Well until that day arrives, could you promise me you’ll be more cautious?”
“Fine, fine,” Natsu waved his hand. “I’ll back off of Lucy for now.”
“Good.” Gray relaxed back onto his recliner thinking the drama was over.
“However, there is a new guy I want surveillance placed on.”
“Who?”
“The bartender from the party.”
Gray groaned. “Seriously? Why? He’s just a bartender!”
“I don’t trust him.”
“Was he spiking the drinks or something? Dealing drugs at the party?”
“Maybe.”
Gray huffed. “You really gonna try that? Do I look like an idiot? This is just straight jealousy talking.”
“I don’t care! I want someone to dig up what they can on the guy!”
“No, what you wanna know is if he fucked Lucy that night!”
Natsu jumped up with his fists clenched. “Fuck you!”
“Fuck you too!” Gray stood up and matched his boss’s energy. “Unless you give me a damn good reason to check into him, I’m not wasting my guy’s time! You might be the boss, but don’t you fucking forget who you’re talking to! I’m not some punk off the streets!”
Realizing he was taking things too far, Natsu sat back down. “Sorry.”
Gray sighed and plopped back down too. “I only joined because you asked me to and you’re my best friend, then I helped you build this new empire, so I’m just as invested in protecting it as you are. But Natsu, personal emotions have led to the downfall of many in this business, and as a friend, I’ll check you any time I think you’re going to far.”
“You’re right…” Natsu sighed too. “She just gets me so worked up.”
“Don’t I know it,” Gray laughed, but stopped when Natsu glared at him. “Sorry, it slipped out.”
“But I swear, there’s something suspicious about him. When he saw me, I thought he just reacted because he thought I was Lucy’s boyfriend or something, but the more I think about it, he might have recognized me.”
“Well, that wouldn’t necessarily be suspicious either.”
“True. But the look in his eyes just made me wonder.”
“Alright…” Gray groaned, “if it’ll make you feel better, I’ll have someone do some digging. So, you said he has orange hair and glasses, and the name on his tag was Loke?”
“Yeah.”
“That’s an unusual name, shouldn’t be too hard to check on.”
Over the course of a couple of weeks, Gray sent out feelers for any information on this Loke guy. Katsunuma junior gave them their first small lead that the bartender had worked the party through a local food catering company. That catering company was a legitimate business who had both full-time staff as well as independent contractors brought in per event as needed. Loke had been one of the latter. From there Gray obtained a last name, de Lioncourt.
According to his sources at the local precinct, Loke de Lioncourt had no rap sheet, no prior dealings with police, and for all they knew was an average citizen. The man’s Line blog profile listed him as a 28-year-old, Japanese/French American, model and bartender, and it was filled with pictures from events, parties, as well as many gorgeous women— none of which contained Lucy. But as Gray trolled through the man’s feed, he did come across one person he recognized and passed the information along to Natsu.
“Wow, she’s in a bunch of photos,” Natsu mumbled as he scrolled through the blog.
“Well, considering Cana’s reputation are you surprised. Parties and alcohol are the two things that woman lives for.” Gray laughed. “Now see, this makes sense to me. Lucy and him, not so much.”
“Tch… still pisses me off he even tried.”
“Lucy’s a free woman, she can go out with whoever she wants to.”
“We’ll see about that,” Natsu mumbled low.
“What was that?” Gray asked with a raised brow.
“Nothing.”
“Better be nothing, cause this is a dead end. He’s just a flirty bartender. It’s how they make tips.”
“Yeah, yeah, fine.” Natsu sat back in his chair. “So, back to business. What this I heard about some missing stock?”
“Oh, right. One of the warehouse clerks noticed a shortage, but when I checked with Yura, he said the books were fine. I had him show it to me, and it appears the numbers were just inverted by accident. So, instead of 185 kilos, it’s supposed to be 158 kilos.”
“Did you talk to the clerk again? Does he have any history of messing up like this?”
“Nah, he’s one of our better clerks.”
“Just keep an eye on it.”
“Sure thing, boss. By the way, have you seen Gajeel today?” Gray questioned. “I haven’t seen him.”
“He called me this morning said he wasn’t feeling well, thinks he ate something bad for dinner last night.”
“Tch, seriously? Thought he had an iron stomach?”
Natsu shrugged. “Must’a been some bad sushi or something. We ain’t got much happening today, so it’s fine. Anything else? I got some stuff I need to finish.”
Gray tapped his chin. “Just a reminder you have an appointment with our tech guy dropping by later this week to go over some upgrades on the system.”
“Like I’m supposed to know anything about that stuff, it’s what I pay him for.”
“You still gotta approve it,” Gray shrugged and took his leave.
Once the man was completely out of the office, Natsu opened a drawer in his desk and pulled out a nondescript box he’d hidden inside. He grinned to himself. It was time to make another special delivery. Even though he’d told Gray he was backing off the whole Lucy and Loke subject, there was no way he was gonna let it slide. Natsu didn’t care if the man seemed legit, and he wasn’t the first nor would probably be the last that he’d eventually scared away. And besides, being a Yakuza boss had a lot of down times too, easily filled with having a little fun.
Today’s little care package was being sent to Lucy by a courier service and Natsu just had to drop it off to the delivery company. Just a normal company like Kuroneko Yamato so it wouldn’t rouse too many suspicions. It was turning into a fun game for him just coming up with ideas of what he could do to rile Lucy up or irritate this Loke guy. Natsu chuckled to himself. So far, his favorite prank was a box of small sized condoms and a bottle of enhancement pills that he’d had delivered to Loke while on the job at another party. He’d even snuck in to watch it delivered, gaining a good laugh when the man took a peek in the box and frowned at its contents.
It was childish, but Natsu didn’t care. Every day for two weeks now, something new was sent to Loke. Random gifts like children’s candy to a toy gun, a big bottle of lubricant wrapped in a bow, a week’s worth of meals sent for lunch one day, even an empty box with rocks inside it just to drive the man crazy wondering who in the world was sending them. Lucy too wasn’t immune to his pranks, though hers had a different feel to them. Flowers with no note attached. Tickets to a canceled show he made up. A supposed dinner invite from Loke that wasn’t real— okay that was to test her, but she didn’t fall for it. And today’s little care package fit right into his prank scheme.
Natsu dropped off the package at a Kuroneko Yamato office with the address instructions already filled out and paid the company’s employee extra to keep their mouths shut. ‘She’s gonna kill me one day,’ he laughed to himself as he rode back to his office. ‘If it’s suffocation by her boobs it wouldn’t be a bad way to go!’
“Anymore stops sir?” The driver asked Natsu.
“Nope. Back to the office.”
He looked at his watch. The package should be arriving at Lucy’s office within the hour. Give or take another to open it, and by 4pm he would be receiving another phone call. Maybe he won’t answer it. Oh, that would piss her off even more! ‘Well, if she’d just take the hint...’
The afternoon was supposed to be mellow at headquarters that day. No shipments, and no appointments. But when Natsu got back, another general in the organization named Jellal Fernandez came to his office to inform him of a problem. One of the new local restaurants in their territory was refusing to cooperate and he wanted to know how Natsu wanted it handled. They were right in the middle of discussing it, when Natsu’s office door flew open with a loud bang!
In stomped Lucy who immediately threw a box at his head, causing Natsu to duck and Jellal to pull his gun.
“Don’t!” Natsu screamed at his general and motioned for him to stand down, to which the man complied. “Do you have a death wish Lucy!”
“Get. Out.” She snapped at the general. “Get out! This is between me and your boss!”
Jellal looked to Natsu, who nodded his head to scram. “I got this, don’t worry.” The man holstered his gun and left, but Natsu could see he’d stayed right outside of the now closed door.
“I take it you didn’t like the gift,” Natsu pretended to stay calm.
“Gee, me throwing it at you give you that impression? I know it’s you sending all these damn deliveries to me and Loke. That needs to stop now!”
He crossed his arms and scoffed. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Play dumb all you want. Just stop! Why are you even doing this?!”
“Take a guess,” he sneered back.
“I could’ve sworn we were adults now, but apparently I’m the only one who grew up. Stay out of my love life Natsu!”
“So, you admit you’re sleeping with the guy!”
“That’s none of your damn business! I can fuck whoever I want!”
“Not as long as I’m alive,” Natsu growled back.
Lucy crossed her arms. “That could be arranged.”
“Is that a threat?!”
“Yes! If you don’t stay out of my love life!”
“A woman shouldn’t be sleepi—”
“Don’t you finish that sentence!” Lucy grabbed a stapler that was within reach and chucked it at Natsu’s head. “Stop trying to control me!”
“Are you crazy?!”
At that moment, Gray barged into the room. He’d heard the screaming from the other side of the office, and when he got close enough to see Jellal standing outside the door, he became alarmed. Why would a general leave Natsu vulnerable! The man told him their boss told him to leave, but as the sounds inside escalated, Gray couldn’t wait anymore.
“Stop it!!” Gray got between them. “What are you two doing! Lucy you shouldn’t be here!”
“Then tell your damn boss to leave me the fuck alone!” Lucy spat back. “Ask him how he’s been harassing Loke and me!”
Gray turned to his boss with a groan. “Natsu, we talked about this!”
“Tell Gray what you been doing!” Lucy pressed. “Show him the stupid packages you send!”
“What packages?” Gray looked to Lucy, then repeated the question as he stared at his boss. “What packages?”
“Tch,” Natsu crossed his arms, “it’s not even that bad.”
Lucy stomped over to where the box fell and picked it up, pulling the contents out. “Bullshit!” She snapped as she held up a very racy, red nightie with flame prints, a pair of fluffy handcuffs, and a large dildo. “See this shit?!” Lucy shook the floppy latex toy at Gray before chucking it to the ground again. “He includes messages too,” then handed the man a folded piece of paper.
Gray read it aloud, “to make up for what playboy lacks. Had it custom made to my size wink wink. Ugh, seriously man,” he tossed the letter.
Natsu shrugged. “I was just having fun.”
“This is the yakuza, not a daycare!” Gray snaps. “I’m not here to babysit the boss so he stops harassing the competition! There’s more important business to worry about!”
“That’s right listen to Gray,” Lucy sneered.
Gray turned to her. “Oh, you ain’t innocent either, so don’t even try it. You both do things to purposely rile the other up and get mad when there’s consequences. Stop it!” He looked back and forth between the two. “Just stop it already!”
Natsu and Lucy looked away from the man with scowls on their faces. Neither wanted to admit he was right.
“Jellal,” Gray called out. When the man entered, he instructed him to escort Lucy out of there. “Next time, just call me instead. It’s best you two just stay away from each other. Got it?!”
“Yeah,” Lucy grumped.
“Got it?!” Gray questioned his boss.
“Yeah,” Natsu mumbled.
“Fucking like high school,” Gray ran a hand down his face in irritation. “You two need therapy.”

helloo!! i dont rly like showing my account so would i be able to request here? it would b nice if u could write a van helsing x reader wherein we work as a government employee (how they met basically, post non lupin or van route) and he learns she doesnt associate much with her family for personal reasons after they share each others pasts? if its too much to ask for i can req something different! tyy
Hey Anon! Thats totally fine- its why I turned on the anon feature ;) and hey, thanks for being my first request! Essentially this fic is a little bit of a weird AU, where you don't end up with anyone and never met Van. I hope thats ok! If not, feel free to send in another request! Love you ❤ I hope you enjoy!
----------
There she was again.
That woman. The one who made his heart skip a beat at just a glance.
She laughed as she conversed with two men on either side of her. One of them, Van Helsing recognized as Victor Frankenstein. The famous alchemist.
The other one had long, red hair and had his jacket hanging off half his body. The woman who had caught his eye was sandwiched between the two; and was seemingly good friends with them. Van Helsing wondered who she was.
"Aha! Eyeing her I see!" A snide voice came from behind her.
"Tch." He closed his eyes and turned to the young king.
"Everytime you see her, you always stare. Why don't you go say hi?" Delacroix said with a loud smile that made Van Helsing sigh.
"No."
"Awww, cmon! Why not? We have some time to spare! Go have lunch with her or something!"
"No."
The young king frowned.
"That's an order."
....Goddammit.
"Tch. Fine."
He turned to see her walk towards the dining hall, where government employees and guests often met for lunch.
What the hell would he even say? He stalled for a moment, wondering what he would do when he got to her. Would he ask her for her name and run off? Would he sit down and just... eat across from her?
"Come on, let's go!" Suddenly his arm was yanked quite forcefully, and he was made to follow Delacroix into the dining hall. This was bound to be trouble.
"I thought I was only here escort and advocate for you? Not be forced into eating lunch with people unrelated to us."
Delacroix, with his hand still tightly around Van Helsing's arm, opened the door to the cafeteria easily and led the two inside.
"Well I consider you one of my loyal subjects now! And as your king, I want to see my people thrive and be happy!" He said proudly.
"Tch. All I am is your bodyguard and an advocate. What happened to wanting revenge?"
"Oh shut up about that already. Look- there she is!"
The young king pointed out the woman Van Helsing had been admiring from afar, now sitting alone at a small round table. It didn't look like she was waiting for anyone.
"Here we go..." He mumbled to himself as he was forcefully dragged right up to the table.
"Are you waiting for anyone?" The young king's voice cooly asked.
The girl looked up at him, and her eyes went wide.
"A-Ah! K-King Delacroix! N-No, I'm not waiting for anyone. Please, take a seat if you want." She said as she gestured to the two other seats across from her.
"And Mr. Van Helsing... It's nice to meet you both."
Delacroix sat down in one of the chairs, seemingly unaware how awkward this was for poor Van. Or maybe he just didn't care.
"Is this some type of torture...?" He mumbled to himself before he sat down.
"Well, it seems you know plenty about us! But what about you? My advisor has seen you around quite a bit, and he always eyes you as you walk by!" He said proudly.
Dear god, this really was torture wasn't it!?
She gave out a nervous laugh, a blush quickly dusting her delicate cheeks.
"At least this is cute." Van thought to himself.
"My name is (Y/N) (L/N), and I report to Her Majesty on public affairs. Stuff like how the different districts are doing, how crime is and such..."
"Ah, I've heard of you. You're friendly with everyone except your family, aren't you?" The young king said without hesitation.
"I-I uh..."
Van Helsing sighed at Delacroix's unapologetic nosiness.
"Delacroix, you forgot your coat in the meeting room." He said as he rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"Ah!" Delacroix rose from his seat in a slight panic. "I'll be back!" And with that, he took off faster then any human could run. Thankfully he didn't notice that he was still wearing his coat.
"Sorry about that." The soldier murmered to the girl.
"O-Oh no, it's ok! After last week's incident, I-I'm kind of used to this sort of thing..." She trailed off.
"...what happened?" He wanted to ask, but he knew he shouldn't. His unvoiced question lingered above his head, and she seemed to catch on to his thinking.
"Ahaha... well, one of my parents actually was at one of the meetings I was attending, and tried to talk to me... but I don't really... get along with them. So I tried to avoid them as best as I could, but... they kind of cornered me. I told them to leave me alone, but I was a bit too loud when I said it... the whole public affairs board saw what happened."
"I see." He replied simply.
"O-Oh, I uhm... I'm sorry. I know that talking about family might be a uh... little tough for you. I didn't mean to be insensitive. I apologize..."
It was pretty well known that Van Helsing's family was murdered, after the whole situation with Aleister came to light and he was sent to court. But it was still weird to hear that some girl he had never met before knew his past. But he doubt that she knew all of it.
"It's fine. But why don't you want to talk to your parents?"
"Ah.. it's... personal. Personal reasons."
Van Helsing closed his eyes in thoughtful silence. So she wasn't as naive to tell him absolutely everything when they first meet.
He hated to admit this, but he was definitely intrigued.
"H-Hey... I uh, have another meeting I have to get to. Do you uhm... want to go out later? For some tea or something? I'll be free around 5."
Van Helsing mulled it over in his head for a moment. Delacroix had a meeting at 5:15, but it wasn't one he necessarily had to attend. He could already practically hear the kid's voice telling him to go in his head.
He gave a nod to her.
"Sure. I've got nothing planned."
She perked up. Perhaps she wasn't expecting him to accept? He couldn't help but smile to himself over how cute she was.
"A-Alright, I'll meet you at the cafe down the street. The one-"
"-where the evening sun makes it look like the whole place is glowing?"
"Yes! That one!"
He nodded, giving her a "sure" before she got up and ran off.
He couldn't help but close his eyes and smile. She was pretty damn cute. It was pretty clear she wanted to go somewhere that would give them a little but of a fun, romantic atmosphere... but he didn't mind too much.
He was curious about her family, and why she didn't want to associate with them. But he knew that was none of his concern. Still, he quite enjoyed the thought of perhaps learning that reason one day.
Jeez, being with that kid really did make him soft, huh?

Two beautiful people sent me an ask about my rivetra actors au, and boyyyy let me tell you, it was so fun making them again 😍 thank you to the pretty souls who asked this! 💘
The first actors au were from season 1 and 2, this one will focus on the filming of season 3 until the last season :) here you go!
more rivetra actors!au headcanon (some are nsfw-ish)
- Let me get straight to the point: lots of sex. Car sex. On-set sex. Dressing room sex. Name it.
- Both of them are aware that it was unprofessional, but there was a time when they did not see each other for more than a month because of their (especially Levi’s) busy and conflicting schedule, so when Petra surprised him on set, the frustration and longing just piled up and they had sex.
- Then it became a habit.
- And this habit, of course, didn’t go unnoticed by the other casts and even crews of the show. Armin heard them once, and the poor boy made a mental note to never ever come close to Levi’s room again.
- The older casts are fine with it since, you know, normal adult stuff. But for the love of the three Walls, can you lovebirds tone the moaning down? People are trying to get some sleep wtf.
- Levi’s make-up artist had to deal with the pain of covering his hickeys (courtesy of Ms. Petra Ral) every shoot. The ones on his neck, especially those near his adam’s apple were the most visible. And since Captain Levi rarely wore a cravat in season three, part one, it made the work harder for the make-up artist.
- As compensation, Petra always bought a special souvenir for Levi’s make-up artist whenever she flies overseas for her theater shows.
- For the premiere of season 3, Levi took Petra as his date on the red carpet. It was the first event they attended publicly as a couple.
- It was a big milestone for their relationship because they are both public figures. And we all know what happens when celebrities publicize their relationships, it is prone to issues and controversies.
- And you can very well guess that Levi Ackerman showing off his beautiful girlfriend to the press was big news. As big as the AoT premiere even.
- During the air of season three, Levi became more famous and he attracted many overseas fans as well as international actresses because of his brilliant scenes with Kenny.
- Although Petra is not the jealous type, she admitted that somehow it affected her when other international actresses expressed their admiration towards Levi. Some even said that Levi is their type and they are looking forward to working with him in the future.
- When Levi sensed this, he immediately headed to his IG and posted a picture of Petra with a very cheesy caption lmao. Forgive him, he's new to this kind of relationship.
- Did I mention he also posted a picture of them kissing in front of the Eiffel tower?
- Only a few know this, but the real Levi is one clingy boyfriend.
- He is very touchy when it comes to Petra. He just really loves holding her. Sometimes he just randomly hugs her, caresses her, nuzzles her. He just loves having skin-to-skin contact with her.
- His love language is actions and gestures.
- His favorite gesture to do to Petra is a back hug with his arms under her boobs. It was a soft gesture and it wasn't sexual in any way...until it did.
- More than half of their sex started with Levi touching Petra’s underboobs tbh.
- Sometimes Levi thinks that he's neglecting Petra and more than once he considered quitting the show business for her. But then he’ll see her smiling at him, and she tells him that she's very proud of what he’s doing and that she's happy that she gets to support him with doing the things he is really passionate about and just… all he could think of that time is that he wants to marry this amazing woman.
- He is also supportive of Petra’s theater actress career, of course. And he hates the fact that he needs to hide whenever he watches one of her shows since people eventually gather around him asking for an autograph and he feels that it’s rude for Petra. This is her moment and he doesn’t want to ruin it for her.
- Hence, his all-black and mysterious get-up whenever he watches her show.
- AoT season three was a huge success and plans for season four are already on the move. Casts were given a long break before the shooting began again and both Petra and Levi took this as a chance to bond together.
-Petra's favorite thing to do with Levi is playing with animals. She has a soft spot for animals, and she wanted for them to adopt a pet but she knew that the poor animal will only be given less attention because both of them are always busy.
-When Petra's theater world tour ended, she and Levi started living together. They didn't have the chance to do it before since they were both busy.
-Them living together is probably the height of their relationship. They fought, they had sex, they laughed, they played, they bathe together. They did everything together and it was a beautiful experience.
- For their third anniversary, Levi booked a vacation on a private island for a week. It was also their last bonding because Levi is going to start filming again for season four in less than a month.
- They did not communicate with anyone during that one week. It was just them, and they made the most of it.
- Mornings were spent for morning sex and breakfast in bed. Afternoons were for swimming, sleeping, cuddling, hugging, kissing, and every activity they could think of doing. They explored the island, they petted stray animals, they dived into the ocean, they build sandcastles, they ate different dishes, they had sex in caves and while swimming on the beach, they climbed trees, they bought souvenirs, and most importantly, they took many pictures together.
- Evenings were the most romantic of all. They had sex in the darkness of their own room while they hear the ocean waves crashed to the shore outside and as the sea breeze cooled their sweat-slicked skin. They took the time to explore each other’s body like it’s their last (because it will be in a matter of days).
- On their last night, Pet cried while they’re having sex. Levi’s face was buried on the crook of her neck and she was moaning one moment, and then the next she’s sobbing like a poor little baby.
- She said that she’d gotten used to life with Levi always by her side and she didn’t want it to ever change. Levi comforted her. He petted her hair, and he said that it’s going to be okay. He kissed her head, then her hair, her face, and her body. Then they had the most emotional and meaningful sex of their entire life.
- Levi started shooting again for season four. Petra, like the past seasons, visits him as much as she can. It was hard adjusting to this type of life again, but she’s a strong woman. And besides, she’s going to start rehearsing for another theater show again.
- They need to undergo medical check-ups before the casting and she found out then that she is pregnant with Levi’s baby.
- It freaked her out. She and Levi never talked about babies before since they’re busy with their careers, and their relationship has always been just the two of them.
- Levi was out of town for the shoot, and she didn’t want to tell him the good news on the phone so she patiently waited until he got home.
- He was greeted with a fancy dinner, and a “Welcome home, Daddy” by Petra. Levi thought that it was her being cheeky and naughty at first, but when dinner ended and she ran for her life to the sink, that’s when he started getting worried. And when Petra showed him the positive result in her medical check-up, well, let’s just say that on that day, Levi Ackerman received a good reminder of what he did to her on their vacation months ago.
- But seriously, he was seconds away from calling his manager and dropping his AoT contract just so he can take care of Petra and their baby. Petra said that it was fine, and she doesn’t want him to quit.
- Levi apologized to Petra many times because he wasn’t there when she discovered it, but she assured him that it was alright and it wasn’t his fault. God, he’s with the perfect woman.
- Since Levi is a big shot in the industry, he demanded control over his schedules. Honestly, he wanted to be at her side 24/7. He wanted to see her belly swell as months went by. He wanted to be the one to satisfy her midnight pregnancy cravings. He wanted to kiss her face and her belly first thing in the morning.
- He convinced Petra to move temporarily to the Ackerman family house where Levi’s parents are staying. Kenny and Mikasa also lived in the same affluent neighborhood. He had doctors, and helpers, and bodyguards hired for Petra. But she said that she’s too uncomfortable with many people around her.
- Petra and Levi’s mom build a bond of their own. She’d gotten to know more of Levi through his mother’s perspective. The older woman showed her Levi’s teenage room, his past awards, his photos, his audition tapes that weren’t out for the public, and she fell in love with him more.
- They had a super private wedding with their relatives and closest friends. Petra was six months pregnant by that time and season four is planned to air three months from now.
- So, you know about that one holy Rivetra panel where Petra is looking back to Levi? The reason why the scene was not in the actual show was that she is pregnant. That’s why the directors are forced to use old scenes from season one instead.
- Despite all the efforts of being private, paparazzi and the media still caught wind of the secret wedding, and rumors about Petra being pregnant started circulating over the internet. Levi shut down these rumors every time someone attempted to question him in his interviews.
- When the shooting ended, Petra was already eight months into pregnancy. As per tradition, the cast and staff held an after-party, but Petra was surprised when it became a baby shower for her instead.
- The baby was supposedly due in the third week of December, but Petra’s water broke around the first week instead and she started her labor. She ended up having the same birthday as their healthy baby boy.
- The baby was named River Ackerman. He was named after Levi’s role where he won the Best Actor Award when he was seventeen. It was also a tribute to Levi’s role in AoT since his name was sometimes spelled as ‘Rivaille’ on many occasions.

About that Fox post: i absolutely love you for writing it, thank you for that
Also, for your consideration:
- Where were you during the zillo beast attack?
- throwing a surprise birthday party for him?
- going shopping together
- I have a scenario that him dating an investigative journalist would be very chaotic, any thoughts?
- what's the friendship with his brothers like?
- why do i fell he would be good with kids? Like your nephew or something
- on that note, does he get the dad genes from Jango?
- post-war AU? in the timeline where Palpatine chokes and dies like he's supposed to
- Getting!! Married!! (eventualy)
many Fox thoughts today, many thoughts
sorry this is so long, I have little self control and a lots of love for fox. i love u so much for asking this and letting me explore what a life with fox would be like.
also I apologize for being a h*rny bitch and not controling myself, so nsfw thots are marked like this so if u wanna skip that's fine.
and uh, first I'm gonna answer the investigative journalist hc and base everything about this in that solely thought because that's a galaxy brain thing to say.
I have a scenario that him dating an investigative journalist would be very chaotic, any thoughts?
AHDJSJ I LOVE THIS. okay okay but I feel like because of this job this is exactly why you guys met, like you needed some info and you asked some shiny but he didn't know a thing and you were like "is there someone I can talk with about this?" and when he's about to reply, Fox enters in action and he's like "need anything?" but sO COCKY.
he hates journalists mostly because some of them treat the clones very badly and never talk about the casualties or that kind of stuff about war, right.
like, it would turn into this-- banter filled with sexual tension that would've ended up in a make out session if 1. fox didn't have that much of self control and two if he weren't wearing his bucket.
it'd be like
"listen man-"
"it's commander for you." a pause, "or sir."
or like
"i need to do other things if you don't mind."
"i can think of a few you could be doing right now." and the way your eyes run through his entire body, even if he's all covered in plastoid but damn you if he isn't the hottest man walking, and he actually shivers, and gulps, because it's not like he wasn't thinking about that either, pushing down your pants and railing you right then and there in that fucking filthy alley. he is well aware how his suddenly codpiece feels too tight, but you only smirk and go, "you know, like giving me the information I need?"
KDJSJ IMAGINE THE POWER. THE POSSIBILITIES.
it'd be so ridiculous, but you also caused this impression on him that when you turned away to go on your business he was dEVASTED, but he didn't want to let u know he actually liked you. He's stubborn, that man.
So by some miracle when you're investigating something, you guys run into each other bc he's on patrol or something and he's GIDDY. but also frozen in place bc he didn't think he would ever see you again, mostly because Coruscant is big and has too many people in it. and you're like
"ah, commander fox, isn't it?" and he quickly resumes to say something that shows how aNNOYED he pretends to be, but he ends up tagging alone because "these parts are not safe"
"oh?"
"you'd need protection."
and the smirk you have is sO ARROGANT because it's not your first rodeo.
"you wouldn't want to have a civvie getting killed or something on your watch now, would you?" and he clears his throat and nods sharply. and you give him this innocent eyes and bat your lashes, "my hero."
and if you think those words didn't do aNYTHING to him, you're mistaken u hear me, he's instantly hARD.
so anyways after that YOU ask him out, and he's like, stuttering and saying yes and all.
now some random thoughts on this magnificent hc.
• if it can't be himself, he would always have the men he trusts the most going on patrols around the zone you're around in case something happens.
• he lOVES when you rant about something new you discovered, and when he asks for mOre info bc he's a, how do you say chismoso?, he loves gossip??? anyways and you're like "nu huh, you gotta wait till tomorrow, foxie"
• he aLWAYS makes sure to read/see your job, either if you work for some newspaper, magazine, etc or if you're on the TV he nEVER misses it.
• if you work for the TV, his brothers are always like "fOX YOUR GIRL IS ON THE HOLONET LIKE RN!!!" and he gives them this bitch face because he kNOWS THANK YOU.
• alright but imagine going on dates with him and being like "did you know there was an investigation last year around this part that–?" ROMANCE AT ITS PEAK.
• if his shift ends before you even think of going home, he definitely joins you on your investigations.
Where were you during the zillo beast attack?
uhh, I think you'd be home, like maybe you turned in early and fox maybe didn't know, so he was almost in tears when he called you after the whole thing happened because he was so worried.
of course, during the attack, he tried to push the thought aside, bc I think all clones have this, uh, switch, that makes them not worry during missions that much? just like, have this thought here and there but nothing serious that would make them paralyzed and have a panic attack right there. but every second he thought of you and hoped you were alright.
unlike you, that were worried sick because you saw the chaos unfold, the troopers arriving in shuttles and the jedi doing whatever they were doing and you just heard destruction. you DID cried a bit and when fox called you, you cried even harder. and he was like "it's alright, I'm alright baby."
that night he hold you SO tight, whispering sweet nothings on your ear and never stopped kissing you once. you barely got any sleep because you were so afraid of waking up only to find out the other died on the attack and it was all a dream.
throwing a surprise birthday party for him?
AAAAAH THIS IS SO CUTE.
now, clones don't exactly have a birthday???? but he did all these nice things for your birthday (he and the boys baked you a cake that was sO UGLY and tasted a bit weird) so you thought you could surprise him too.
it's most likely he gives you the date when he graduated from Kamino or something and for all the years you're with him, you never miss his "birthday" at first you did something quiet, like a dinner at your place, bought him something nice, gave him a bath or something and spoiled the shit out of him.
so for the second year, you threw him a party in his office, made him this cake or whatever and decorated with red and white balloons and invited a few troopers that wanted to help you and he was stoic for a moment, but then you were like "hAPPY BIRTHDAY!" and hugged him so tight and he relaxed under your touch and whispered this small "thank you baby"
everyone congratulated him and he was a bit awkward but when they start telling all these stories of them and fox on the job, he starts to loosen up a bit, so while everyone is eating cake he hugs you from behind and chuckling lowly in your ear as he listens to his brothers.
he dOESNT like pda like I said but he forgets for a moment because he just loves you sO SO SO SO MUCH. it's also easier for him to whisper filthy things into your ear and mumble how good you are for him, that he doesn't deserve you, that he can't wait for everyone to leave cause he wants to have his present (you) nipping your earlobe and making u all hot and bothered and would def fuck you nice and hard on his desk. yup
going shopping together
imagine, jUST IMAGINE, he'd look like your personal bodyguard 😭😭 like, he'd be behind you carrying most of your bags and people would look at you wondering who are you, why are you sO important to have the commander of the Coruscant guard with you???
but like, you don't care and fox doesn't even notice, and he'd be so attentive, faking to be both annoyed and uninterested but he'd see this nice shirt or dress or whatever and grumble something like "you'd look good on this" i just-
and like when you pass by the lingerie store, dUDE, he'd make you model for him, him sitting like he fucking owns the place, getting harder and harder every time he sees you in a new pair of underwear and when you show off this cute little red set. damn.
if you go to the market or something, he'd always love to show you these things like "look at that" or just pull you towards this stall and you'd adORE to show him stuff like, "ohh, fox here try this" or "what you think about this?" and stuff like that.
what's the friendship with his brothers like?
i think it'd be very easy-going and light, they would tease you sometimes, but they really like you, mostly because they see fox isn't as stressed as before and they see how happy he is when around you.
they think he deserve it, to have somewhere where he's free and loved, so yeah.
they sometimes ask him about you and never miss a chance to say hi when you stop by the office.
the boys absolutely ADORE you.
why do i fell he would be good with kids? Like your nephew or something. does he get the dad genes from Jango?
HE WOULD AND HE DOES.
like, I think at first he'd be very hesitant when it comes to children, like he'd be nervous when you introduce him to your niece and when you ask him if he wants to hold her, he says a quick no and just prefers to watch you, heart feeling funny when you make faces at the little baby in your arms.
at some point he dOES hold her, with such care and a gentleness that makes your heart flutter, and he coos softly as she sleeps soundly in his arms, rocking her with a delicacy you thought impossible from such hard man, and when he looks at you his eyes shine with this flash of something you can quite place but makes your heart skip a beat and think of how much you'd love to have this, with him, a little family, a baby that has his curls and maybe your eyes, a mix of your skin color with his and maybe his stubbornness completed by your charisma. a perfect little thing for you two to hold and care and love.
he'd be such a good dad, but then again every clone would be the most fantastic dad bc it's literally in their genes.
if you have a nephew that is, u know, older but still a kiddie, like 5 or 6, the lil boy would be aMAZED by fox, he'd love him so much, like imagine, always asking for the commander, wanting to play with him, asking fox to carry him eVERYWHERE, and at first fox would be like, shy and uncertain and he wouldn't know how to act until he accepts the fact that this little boy really likes him and looks up to him and fox becomes The Cool Uncle™
post-war AU? in the timeline where Palpatine chokes and dies like he's supposed to and Getting!! Married!! (eventualy)
well, in my post-war AU, clones get Rights™ and get paid and have vacations and stuff, sO, maybe you get to have Fox for a little more time and his schedule isn't as bad as it was during the war, so maybe after the war you get home to a nice dinner and fox using this silly apron and sometimes you come home early just so you can cook with him.
maybe you go on holidays to these nice places, going to the beach or the woods and finally settling somewhere quiet, start a family in this nice house or if you don't want kids then it's just the two of you and maybe a few pets.
i think the wedding would be officiated in Coruscant, of course, so his brothers and your fam can go, he'd definitely cry when he see you walking down the isle or when you put the ring on his finger and he'd be so so so happy, dancing with you all night, being so clingy because he's just Over the moon, y'know, kissing your cheeks and neck, whispering how lucky he is and how much he loves you, and how good you look, never leaving your side and always leaning over with pouty lips for you to kiss him.
when he proposed it was during one of your sweet, soft times with him, maybe in the aftertaste of your sexy times, as he holds you close to his chest, fingers running up and down your skin, as he stares at the ceiling and the question comes out as if he were talking about the weather, his heartbeat is slow and steady and it's one of those times he feels confident and sure.
you have talked about a future together, so he knows you'd say yes.
it's more a statement than a question, really.
"marry me." he would say, so quietly, almost a whisper. and when you look up you only find this beautiful emotion filling his eyes.
"what?" you just want to make sure you heard right, he'd smile softly, cup your cheek and as his thumb caresses your skin he'd whisper.
"will you marry me?"
you oBVIOUSLY say yes while ugly sobbing.

Sorry, I’m Married
word count?: 3.5k
warnings: canon-typical violence, i don’t describe it graphically tho, just a minor skirmish. happy ending :)
requested? no
ship: dousy/daisy johnson x daniel sousa & dad!coulson
hey guys! i wrote this on a whim after hanging out in a dousy group. i was inspired by the chat at the end of the fic. as always, thank you for reading!! and drink some water ;) fic under the cut!
Neon lights reflected off rough concrete walls as Daisy’s combat boots walked down the steps to the underground club. Light up signs glowed and glittery heels flashed as crowds of people surged and stepped on the technicolour dance floor. The sequins of her dress reflected spotlights that roved the entry area. There were booths with cushy red banquettes lining the walls near the bar, giving college girls a place to rest their feet and hotshot businessmen a table to sip beer. Currently, the club was full, young men and women crowding the bar and dance floor. Decades night, Daisy deduced, as most of the inhabitants were wearing flashy dresses or denim bell bottoms. Deke would’ve loved this, she thought. I wonder how Deke is doing…
Daisy’s mind drifted as the light up jukebox in the corner switched songs. She didn’t spot the target anywhere, so she pushed in a quarter, chose her favourite 80s hit, and watched as the jukebox queued her song. The vibrations of the speakers were reverberating through her, pumping her adrenaline up. Good, more energy for a fight if I need it.
Three leather stools were open at the bar—one by itself, and two side by side. She nodded at the bartender and sat in the single empty seat. Her comms crackled in her right ear, reminding her of why she was here in the first place.
“Dais, can you hear me?” She located where Coulson was speaking across the room, sitting in a wooden booth near the side exit. He casually leaned back and sipped his drink.
“Loud and clear,” Daisy mumbled.
“New intel from HQ just came in. The weapons the target is dealing? Alien tech.”
“Great, she said sarcastically,” said Daisy, clearly annoyed.
Coulson laughed. “On your 3.”
Daisy rested her elbow forward on the bartop, scanning the selection of alcohols as a premise to look down the row of people to her right. She noticed two young lads dressed in all black suits, carrying briefcases. There was no way these guys were in charge of the illegal operation. Well, at least they won’t be a problem if it comes down to a fight, she thought.
As Daisy’s eyes roamed the club, she locked eyes with a muscular, bodyguard-type with a small, raised scar over his eye. She smiled then turned around. She recognized the uniform he was wearing as standard bouncer garb, but his side-piece was not. CF380, Princetown standard issue. Daisy signaled his presence to Coulson.
“These guys? Again?”
Princetown was a group of rich, privileged sons of international diplomats and of heads of large corporations. They slipped through the FBI’s fingers like sand. Now, they had alien tech. No diplomatic immunity would allow them to get out of an arrest now.
Coulson nodded behind her. She subtly turned her head and glanced in that direction. Wearing an overly expensive silk suit and holding a glass of champagne, stood Luca Casagrande. Son of the Italian Minister of foreign affairs. Notorious for his parties, wealth, and lack of self-control. He winked at a blonde waitress who slipped him a piece of paper, which was very obviously not a bill. Daisy rolled her eyes. Criminals these days are so stupid, she thought.
Coulson bit back a laugh at Daisy’s reaction. “Alright, Daisy, you’re up.”
“Remind me again why I was chosen for this part of the mission?” she murmured while sipping her drink to hide her words.
“Because, you’re good at it.” Coulson went quiet for a second then added, “And I'm not Casagrande’s type.”
Daisy flashed her eyes in Coulson’s direction, frustrated. She mentally went over the calming exercises May taught her. Deep breath, exhale. Let’s do this.
Daisy slid off the barstool, and approached Casagrande slowly. He only looked her direction when she sidled up next to him.
“Hey, sweetheart. What’s a beautiful girl like you doing out here all by yourself?” A smooth, accented voice inquired.
Daisy bottled up a sarcastic remark and stocked it on the shelf for later use. Only Daniel is allowed to call her sweetheart.
“Well, I was hoping,” she blinked up at him, batting her eyelashes. “to find some product. Heard you had all the good stuff. I'm lucky I even caught you here, considering your reputation.”
“Geez. Laying it on a little thick aren’t we?” Coulson couldn’t help it. The snort Daisy covered up as a cough was too hilarious.
Luca smiled. It was charming, but unsettling. “Oh? And what reputation would that be?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” Daisy countered. She looked around before continuing, “Look, I've got pressure on me to deliver. I’d appreciate it if we talked business before pleasure.”
“Hard to get.” Luca’s eyes sparkled. “Alright. Let’s talk business.”
He leaned over the bar and signaled the bartender to bring him two glasses of whiskey on the rocks. Once a glass was in his hand, he gestured to Daisy’s. “You don’t drink?”
“Not when I'm on the clock. My employers frown upon it.”
Casagrande nodded. “I see. So, what type of product were you looking for?”
“Anything I can sell. Uncle Sam called and said they need a next gen advantage for soldiers. Weapons, maybe?” She ran a finger down the lapel of his suit. “They pay generously.”
“You work for the US military.”
“We have a... mutual understanding.” Daisy flashed a brilliant smile. It was kind of fun playing an undercover persona.
Luca studied her face. “I don’t get details?”
Daisy scoffed, “Of course not. Son of a foreign diplomat, it’s a risk the US can’t take. If other countries found out…”
“Yes, I understand," He responded carefully.
“And I understand that you also do some dirty business with governments.”
A menacing half-smile rose on his face. “Only the beautiful ones.”
Looking up into his eyes, Daisy felt the same disgust that had been worn by everyone at the mission briefing. Au contraire, Luca seemed to find Daisy extremely attractive.
“Why don’t we—”
“No.” Daisy internally cringed, but on the outside she seemed relaxed and blasé. She risked a glance at Coulson, to see his reaction. His entire body was rigid. She didn’t blame him. Hearing some douchebag proposition your daughter...yulgh. She wished Daniel was here to watch her back, too... this guy was getting under her skin. Everything about Casagrande pushed her buttons.
“No?”
“No,” Daisy affirmed, tilting her head. “Business first. We can talk about any other deals after.”
“But there is a possibility?” He cheekily remarked.
Not a chance in hell, Daisy thought. “Maybe. But for now, I need to move product ASAP.”
Luca mulled thos over and sipped the burning whiskey. “I may have some contacts that could help you. In return, what will you give me?”
Though the question was innocent, his intentions were obvious. That was exactly what she wanted.
“Depends on how good the product is.” She stepped a little closer “It’s a little crowded in here, don’t ya think?”
He pushed off the bar, inches from her. He smelled like overly expensive cologne, and not the good kind. “I'm meeting some business associates out back in a few minutes. We’ll make a deal after that.”
“Would they happen to have anything I could—”
“Sorry, sweetheart, I do business privately.”
Daisy faked a sweet smile and resisted the urge to punch him.
Luca took two steps toward the back door, then turned around and strutted back. He tilted his head towards her. “A good luck ki—?”
BRing. BRing. Bzzzzz.
Best. Timing. Ever. Daisy shot Luca an apologetic look before picking up.
“Hello? Oh, Dad! One sec.” Daisy took the phone off her ear, and whispered to Luca, “It’s my Dad. He’s in the hospital. Doesn’t know what my real job is.”
She brought the phone back up to her ear as Luca irritatedly glanced around.
“Dad? Yeah... No, I'm fine, how are you feeling?... That’s great, Dad.” She winked at Luca and held up a finger. Daisy was glad he didn’t notice Coulson over her shoulder, also on the phone.
“I'm with some friends…” Luca raised his eyebrows. “Luca Casagrande... He does business with my marketing firm.”
Daisy waved Luca away after noticing him checking his Rolex twice in ten seconds. He nodded and headed out back. She made sure he was out of earshot before alerting Coulson.
“Coulson, he’s headed out.”
“Yup, QJ-6 is on the way. I’ll stay to watch his lackeys.”
Daisy gave the bartender a tip and walked towards the back door, grabbing her gauntlets from behind the bar. He dipped his chin and continued wiping down the counter.
As she walked into the chilly night air, Daisy was greeted with silence. Droplets of water dripped onto the leather of her boots from the rooftop. The concrete crunched in the darkness of the alley. Light from the streetlamps was scarce, melding shadowy corners with the dim alleyway.. Daisy could hear faint music through the brick walls of the club. A smirk formed on her face as her pick from the jukebox played. Walking towards the street, she checked behind the moldy trash bins for a sign that Casagrande was hiding. The opening guitar grew louder as the safety of a gun clicked off behind her.
“So,” Daisy raised her hands up. It was a trap. “what happened to your business associates?”
Luca chuckled behind her.
“You’re not stupid. You can figure it out.”
Daisy slowly turned around to face him.
“You bluffed to see if I would follow you.” She wasn’t surprised. She had counted on this. “You’re a decent liar.”
“So are you.” Luca lowered the gun a bit. “Who are you? CIA?”
“That’s classified.”
Luca laughed, haphazardly slinging the pistol to the side in a grand gesture. “Of course it is.”
“I wasn’t lying when I said that the government and I have a mutual understanding.”
“But that isn’t the whole truth, is it?”
Daisy smirked. “Of course not.”
Technically, this was true. Her status as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent was protected knowledge, no one but people inside her agency and a handful high-ranking world intelligence officers were aware.
Daisy decided he might as well know who she was. He was going to be locked up in a max-security cell pretty soon, anyway.
He fell against the wall as Daisy hit him with a small quake, just enough to get her point across. His expression was one of pure shock.
“You- Y- You’re…”
“Mar—”
“Daisy, what’s going on?” Coulson must have felt the vibrations. She didn’t think she had hit Luca that hard. Daisy could hear the quinjet approaching, the comforting vibrations of the engine helping to calm her nerves. She stepped toward Luca.
“You have two options: come peacefully with me, or I call the cavalry to take you in by force.”
Luca stayed on the ground, silent. He reminded Daisy of a pouting toddler.
This toddler had a few tricks up his sleeve.
Coulson’s voice came through her ear. “Daisy, do you ha—”
Daisy’s blood ran cold as she received static from the other line.
“Coulson? Coulson?!”
Wide brown eyes turned to watch Casagrande’s smirk grow.
“Problem?" He said smugly.
Daisy quickly knocked him out with the mini-ICER she kept inside her boot and ran back inside. Opening the solid metal door to the inside of the club, she registered the panicked screams from the main room. As she hurtled through the plain hallway towards the crowds, she wished she had a way to tell the backup team that they were flying into trouble. He must’ve known we’d be here. How did he know we’d be here?
The walls were a blur as the confusion and fear from the civilians in the club became palpable. The door squeaked on its hinges as Daisy threw it open. She didn’t see Coulson anywhere. Actually, she couldn’t see anything at all. An EMP. Cool. Fun. Alright. That’s fine.
It’s all fine.
Wandering the crowds, Daisy tried to find a way to contact the team. Surely they had a landline in here?
The bartender pulled her aside as she passed him. He silently pointed to the jukebox. It was the only thing still on and functioning. Of course, Daisy didn’t know how she hadn’t seen it before!
She walked to the jukebox and searched the sides for a dial, a button, something... Aha! She unlatched the panel and bent down to dial Piper’s number. She pressed the call button while her vision grew blurry. Her eyelids drooped. A sluggish head turn towards the dance floor gave a view of unconscious bodies asleep next to each other. Daisy tried to stand, to walk to the nearest victim of the sleeping gas. A burning zap that seemed to travel through her veins rendered her unconscious. I have to find Coulson…
Daisy knew she probably shouldn’t have left Casagrande in the alley by himself. She was playing right into his hand.
Coulson was more important.
Coulson. What would he do?
Daisy slowly tried to open her eyes. She felt like she had a hangover. The light was dim, the floor beneath her cold as ice. Her hearing slowly came back as she took in her surroundings. A pair of black dress shoes blurred into her frame of vision.
“Hey, you’re awake.” Coulson’s voice flooded her with relief.
“What happened? Where…?”
Coulson helped her sit up against a rough stone wall. “I have no clue. Best guess? An Italian castle.”
Daisy was suddenly very awake. “We’re in Italy?”
“Hey, I said best guess.” Coulson pointed his fingers to the ceiling. “I heard footsteps up there earlier.”
Daisy just nodded. Last time she was in Italy, she had a hell of a lot better time. For starters, no one zapped her with— wait, what was she hit with?
“What was that weapon I was hit with? It felt like it was melting my insides.” The thought scared her. The only other time she had felt that type of pain was when... she didn’t like to think about it.
“You know the alien tech that Casagrande was running?” Daisy nodded. “Yeah, it was that.”
A loud groan solidified Daisy’s frustration. Her eyes closed while she tried to concentrate. She tried to feel any vibrations near her, to soak up anything that could signal where they were. Instead of feeling the vibrations of a mountain or a plane, she felt footsteps. Coming closer, closer... Daisy opened her eyes.
Luca entered the chilly cell through the thick steel door. She would have quaked him back about a hundred feet if it weren’t for Coulson’s hand on her arm.
“You two seem comfortable. Can I get you a drink? Water? Coffee?” His smile was smug and irritating.
Coulson replied before Daisy could. “No, we’re good thanks. How about instead, you give us some answers. Starting with: where are we, and who’s your source?” His voice got harder and colder as he went on. Luca acted unfazed.
“No. You are insurance. You have physical evidence of my illegal trades. I was going to leave you on the curb, but then this guy,” Luca pointed over his shoulder at a soldier then slapped the short lad on the back. Daisy recognized him as one the short lads with briefcases at the bar. “This guy had to go and shoot you with the Widow’s Bite!”
Coulson's eyes grew wide in recognition. Daisy could connect the dots herself.
“You stole Black Widow’s weapons?” They said in unison. Coulson and Daisy looked at each other and fell silent. By Daisy’s profile, if they kept acting surprised and in awe, he would keep giving them answers.
“Yes, I did. Amazing right?” Luca stared off into the distance. “Last month I hired a thief to get into the Avenger’s Compound. She got a copy of Stark’s old hard drive, picked up some old relics, modified them with alien metal stolen from Hydra. But every time I tried to open it, it would corrupt my servers. I took the damn thing to every hacker I knew, now they all want to kill me because I crashed their servers. Some of them used to be part of the Rising Tide, when they were still young and hotheaded. They told me about a hacker named Skye. She disappeared, never heard from again. She has no information on her. She has no records. Not even in the top intelligence departments of America. She doesn’t exist.
“But Daisy Johnson does. Daisy Johnson, a hacker who rose in Skye’s place. Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.”
“And you need us to get to her,” Coulson finished. “I hate to burst your bubble, but we’re expendable. You’re better off throwing us in the ocean than you are waiting for her to come.”
Luca seemed to be seriously considering this. Then he nodded. You’re right, I need to up the ante. Raise the stakes a little.”
He jerked a thumb over his shoulder as he turned on heel and swaggered down the hallway. “Bring them.”
Two soldiers came in to get Daisy and Coulson. They reached down to grab Daisy, and she swiftly brought her head forward to hit theirs. Stunned, the soldier took a step back, giving Daisy time to stand up before she gave a hard kick to his stomach. The other soldier was similarly impaired, having taken a startlingly strong punch to the jaw from Coulson. The crack! of the bone echoed off the stone walls. Daisy quaked them against the wall for good measure, realizing they hadn’t taken her gauntlets. Coulson was waiting by the door.
“Let’s go.”
They ran through the halls, following where they thought Casagrande might have gone, stopping in several rooms on the way to hide from Casagrande’s soldiers. They ran into him at the front of what was, indeed, a stone castle. He stood on the uneven steps gazing out at rolling hills and cottony clouds hung high above a choppy lake. The wind blew hard, just enough to make you wish for a sweater from someone warm and comforting. It was all quite picturesque.
Except for the criminal standing in front of them.
“Congrats, you escaped! I’m so glad.” Luca smiled and opened up his arms.
“Somehow this guy still sounds smug. We just escaped from his prison and this guy still thinks he’s won.” Coulson turned to Daisy.
Daisy shook her head and shouted, “Hey, Luca! The fight’s not finished yet!”
“Really, sweetheart? Because it looks to m—”
He was interrupted by a violent quake in his direction. She strided over to where he was struggling to get up.
“It looks like what? I can’t hear you.” Daisy rested her hands on her hips.
“It looks as if you are lost. Even if you escape, you have no way to get home,” he wheezed.
Daisy rolled her eyes. Coulson walked up behind her, squatting down beside Luca and using a hand on his shoulder to keep him in place.
“We’re resourceful. And while we were hiding from guards in some of your fancy tech rooms, we found an old sat phone. They’re easy enough to use, all we had to do was phone a friend and tell them exactly where we are,” Coulson explained.
“Ah, but you don’t know where we are, sweetheart.” His rebuttal was pointed at Daisy. She decided it was her turn to prove him wrong.
“See, that’s where you’re wrong. You counted on us not being able to crack your hard drive’s encryption and get past your feeble firewalls. That took less than five minutes. The only remotely hard part about hacking you to find our coordinates was trying to read everything in Italian.” Daisy laughed.
Luca tried the wiggle away from them. “If you have my hard drive, then you know there isn’t anything of importance on there.”
As she pulled a pair of handcuffs out of her boot, Daisy exchanged a look with Coulson.
“You’re right, there isn’t anything of value on that hard drive,” she said. “There are about 100 other files I downloaded from your personal computer that do have important intel, though.”
Coulson pulled a face and sucked in a breath. “Yikes.”
“So, I guess if you’re arresting me, there isn’t any chance we could ever do business, if you know what I mean?”
Daisy mentally pulled that bottle off the shelf and dusted off her sarcastic remark.
“Sorry, I’m married.”
Daisy locked the cuffs into place and stood Casagrande up. Two quinjets touched down thirty minutes later, one with a team of agents to search the castle, and one to take Daisy and Coulson home. Agent Piper met Daisy on the ramp of QJ-6, something metallic and glittery in her hand.
“Thanks for holding onto it.” Daisy hugged Piper before taking her ring back.
“No problem. Wouldn’t want this rock to get lost in the field!” she laughed.
Daisy slipped the smooth metal on her finger and sagged into the jump seat next to Coulson. She rested her head on his shoulder, softly gazing at her hand.
“I can’t wait to be home with Daniel.”

Kirikacchako? Please
I'm not sure if this is referencing a specific prompt from like.. An older post or not, but I've been on a bit of an au kick lately so I'm gonna use this as a plug for some of the aus/ideas I've had, so I hope that's alright ^-^
(I'd offer a doodle for your troubles but... I don't have any to offer rn gjskfksjfkak)
One of the most recent ideas I've had is Kirichako sirens x hoh/ace pirate Baku, in which Kirichako are a mated pair of sirens that travel the seas together to prey on unsuspecting sailors and Baku is a pirate that spends a bit too much time around the cannons n explosives, resulting in hearing loss over time
Upon meeting Baku for the first time Kiri n Ochako are both fascninated and peeved. Fascinated bc no one's ever looked them in the eyes during their song and resisted them like he has, and peeved bc immediately after staring at them Baku tried killing them with explosives
Like sure, they've met people on the seas that have been resistent to either their song or bodies before, but never someone who was unaffected by both. They didn't know whether to be more interested or insulted honestly
((They go with interested, but tell themselves they're insulted bc it's easier to admit))
N honestly I don't have much here, but they end up following Baku's ship around bc it has some good benefits (provides them with protection from bigger sea creatures, food from all the ships they destroy/people they fuck up), and also they just like bothering Baku until they get a reaction from him
They don't sing to him anymore, but they chitter at him n throw pretty sea trinkets up against the ship/into open cannon flaps for him to find later
The last thing I have for this idea is the courting process probably starts bc Baku tripped on the sea trinkets one too many times while carrying out his duties n gets pissed, so he goes up to the main deck to get their attention before chucking some sparkly, garbage thing back at them hoping to distract them enough to get them to fuck off. But the sirens look at their new gift and go wait... Returned gift?? A courting gift?? Which goes to kickstarts a whole new wave of bullshit lmao, rip Baku's sanity
Another idea I wanna shoehorn these guys into is my EnjiRei/TodoDeku mafia bodyguard au, but I'm not too sure on how to go about it tbh like
One one hand, I could have Kiri in with the Todorokis n Ochako in with All Might's group, and have Baku be the unsuspecting civilian just trying to live his life but has attracted the attention of both gang members, who then treat it as a rivalry of who gets Baku first but end up seeing each other as more than just rival groups when the gangs actually start working together n they get paired to run jobs, and has everyone spiralling into a mess of feelings and highjinks before leveling out to smth manageable
On another hand I could have a similar idea with Kacchako as the rivaling gang members and Kiri as the unsuspecting civilian, or maybe even some other underground member like an underground ring fighter or a runner or whatever, who gets scouted by the groups bc his reputation in the ring gets him a gig as some extra muscle or smth for an outside job
And then on the last hand I could have pre-established Kiribaku as the gang members (in the same gang this time) and Ochako as the civilian making bad deals with shady people for extra cash to try and help her family out of their shitty finacial situation, taking jobs she has no business taking (probably from the rising group that's fucking up everything for everyone else tbh) n catching the boys' attention bc "what's a pretty little thing like you doing in the sleazy part of town? Don'tcha know shit gets dangerous around here?" And they're endeared by her spunk n unwillingness to crumble under pressure so they take her under their wing to show her the ropes but also gives them their kicks bc they get off on corrupting her innocent n naive moral compass, all while being hunted by the other group bc she ditched their jobs n now has to face the consequences or smth, Idk idk
It would help if I had any understanding of how mobs/organised crime shit worked or even watched those kinds of shows/movies lmaofnakfmdjs
I'll finish it off with the modern fantasy au I've been thinking about bc I love it dearly, staring alpha werewolf Baku, alpha dragon Kiri, and bamf witch Ochako
At some point or other Baku gets the entire Bakusquad + Deku, Tetsu, Camie, and Ochako living in his packhouse bc he takes a great deal of pride in caring for his pack members and it's actually really easy for his alpha to categorise people as pack, but you'd have to pull out all his teeth before he admits it
Some of them just decided they lived there now n didn't leave, but both Kiri (+Tetsu) and Ochako were brought in by Baku bc his alpha's love language is acts of service/providing and clearly they both benefitted from the move so "why tf are you making such a big deal about it?? Just pack your shit n get it moved in, you've got a week"
Kirikacchako dance around each other hardcore in this au, to the exasperation of everyone else. The alphas try to play off their urges to provide n scentmark as subtly as possible, and since Ochako isn't aware of the meaning it goes pretty well. But literally everyone else is rolling their eyes n making bets on how long it takes them to get their shit together lmaojdidudj
A scene I have pictured for them (and the first one I came up with for this au) is Ochako going out somewhere and Kiri n Baku both casually scent her before she heads out, thinking they're all slick n shit. But as soon as she leaves Deku levels them with the most deadpan expression he can make n says "that was the least subtle thing I've ever seen in my life", and as Baku snaps n goes "I dunno what you're talking about" Kiri replies with a smug "I wasn't trying to be😏"
And like. Realistically the alphas know Ochako isn't really an omega, but she does share some traditional omega qualities that have their alphas going wild (period cycle=heat cycle, round n squishy but will fight you=strength n size for providing healthy pups + the ability to protect them, etc.) so it's understandable that their alphas would slip up n refer to her as their omega, right? Right??
It also doesn't help that after taking Ochako with them on full moon runs, she's been chatting with some of the betas n omegas there and asking how to better communicate with the boys (to avoid miscommunication, she says). But they've both marked her so much that the betas n omegas think she's their courted omega, so they teach her vocal cues n what they mean coming from an alpha, and teach her how to purr and chirp in response.
They don't think to mention the significance behind some of the cues they teach her bc why would they? Smelling as strongly as she does, there's no way those alphas aren't going to give her their bite n bond with her. Why would they need to explain some of the more provocative noises they teach her? They're just helping her for when her alphas decide it's the right time to mate her, is all
I haven't gotten around to how their tension n dancing breaks, but it does eventually n they do get together n bond and all that good stuff, and eventually they have werewolf/dragon/magic hybrid babies bc I have quirkbabes design in another au n I'm obviously dropping them into every au I possibly can bc I love them n put a lot of work into them (and they're super pretty, so I'm showing them off where ever I can assuming I actually draw smth for this au eventually rip)
And wow, this is getting kinda long n rambly so I'm gonna end it here, but I hope that this was kinda what you were looking for landkwidjdkwbf
If you wanna know more about any of the aus just let me know, I could ramble forever
Or if you have any other kirikacchako ideas you wanna hear about feel free to drop them off, I don't mind!! ^-^

CHAPTER 2
Indiana Jones Crossover/Bodyguard AU Veracruz x reader
A/N: It’s here. Okay. Warnings. Mentions of many creepy crawlies: spiders, scorpions, and snakes. Some canon violence, nothing graphic. Veracruz makes an appearance at the end and is his snarky self. Umm. No sexy times, not yet.
Ezekiel: i imagined John Boyega and Reina i thought of my bestie whom i love dearly.

The next day, they woke up before dawn, packing up the jeep before making their way out of the city and into the rainforest. They spent several hours driving, driving well through the night. They stopped only a few times in nearby villages.
They got to a point where the path was too narrow for the jeep to travel. So, they grabbed some of their gear, and began to walk slowly up the trail. They walked for about an hour before coming to a stop to make camp for the rest of the night.
They had a small fire going and were simply using sleeping bags; no tents since they were only going to be there for a few hours. Vixen didn’t bother with unraveling her bag, not wanting to deal with it in the morning, opting to instead use it as a pillow.
As they all rested, sitting down and eating energy bars, drinking water, they made light conversation. She was casually leaning on one hand as she sat, quietly nibbling on her food.
Reina, a beautiful half Puerto Rican woman, stared at her worriedly.
“Hey..uh.. Vix… not to…alarm you or anything… but uhh…. There’s a large spider on your hand,” She slowly informed staring at her hand in horror.
Vixen slowly looked down and lifted her hand up to examine the spider on her hand.
“He’s fine. Just trying to get warm. It can be really cool at night in these regions, so all he wants is warmth,” She lightly stated as she moved her hand back down and let him crawl off and sit near the fire.
“Alright. Get some rest everyone. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow,” Professor Jones ordered as he settled against his pack, tilting his hat over his eyes.
The others got settled in their sleeping bags and Vixen rested against her rolled up bag. Minutes later she could hear multiple snores and light breathing come from everyone else. She stared up at the sky, through the canopy, at the stars.
‘Don’t get to see much of the stars up in Chicago, never seen so many.’ She quietly thought. ‘Wonder if Veracruz likes stargazing? Hm. Doubtful. He’d probably think that to be ‘too girly.’’
Her eyes slowly drifted closed as she her thoughts began to spiral about her handsome one-night stand.
They slept undisturbed until cracks of dawn began to weave through the winding tree limbs around them. As Vixen woke up… she noticed an odd feeling on the side of her face.
“Professor Jones? A little… assistance please?” She croaked out slowly.
“Don’t move. He’s not venomous, but if he bites it won’t be pleasant,” Prof Jones cautioned as he used his rolled-up whip to move the giant spider off her face.
The spider lazily walked off and disappeared into the brush once he was away from her. She then felt the professor move his whip to brush along her back, to knock off his friends.
When she was finally cleared to get up, she brushed herself off and shuddered lightly as she wiped her face.
“Reina. Ezekiel. Time to get up, and start our trek,” Prof Jones called out waking the other two up.
As the 2 of them got up, Vixen stretched and gathered her things. She looked over at Ezekiel who was about to put on his shoes.
“Wait!” She called out, rushing over to him.
She grabbed the shoe out of his hand, and slowly turned it upside, punching the bottom of his sole a few times. After a moment, a large scorpion popped out.
“If you take anything off, be sure to check it before you put it back on. Anything and everything will crawl into it to make a home in it,” She warned as she handed him his shoe again.
“How the hell do you know that?” He asked staring at his shoe in disgust.
“Had 4 of Professor Jones classes and was his TA for a year. Trust me. You’ll pick up on a lot. So, when he talks, listen. You’ll learn so much. It might seem absolutely useless, but it can be lifesaving,” She said with a laugh as she shoveled some dirt to put out the fire that was still simmering from last night.
A few minutes past and everyone was ready to go. They began to follow Prof Jones up a winding path, through deep vegetation. Every so often he would leave a marker to note their path.
About an hour had passed and they came up to a large stone structure. It was shaped to be a doorway, but the door itself was blocked off.
“This is the structure that was seen from a plane?” Reina asked tilting her head looking at it.
“Indeed. From the looks of it, if this was indeed a temple at one point, the forest has slowly consumed it. Shrouding it in its own mystery. It’s possible that a great portion of it buried underground. We will see once we start exploring,” Prof Jones explained walking closer up to the structure.
“So, if we can’t go through it, maybe we should go above it? Reina, ya wanna go with me?” Vixen asked as she moved forward.
She dropped her pack, and grabbed her flashlight, and a handful of other supplies, stuffing them into the pockets of her pants. She stood just below the edge of the structure and took a deep breath.
She then jumped up, to grab ahold of the edge, and pulled herself up slowly. She got up there after a moment of struggle, before turning around to hold her hand down for Reina to take.
Reina after dropping her pack and grabbing similar items, looked around quickly and held up a finger, a silent ‘wait a minute.’ She walked over to the side and grabbed two long, study limbs and handed them to her one by one, before reaching up to join her.
Vixen set the limbs aside and pulled Reina up gently. Once the both of them were up they grabbed a limb and used them to gently tap for any weak spots as they walked along the top. They walked about 20feet before they reached a large gap.
Vixen looked down, moving to squat, squinting trying to see in the dark.
“There’s… something moving down there,” She quietly noted.
“Got a flare on you?” Reina asked as she squatted down with her.
Vixen nodded and reached into one of her pockets, and lit it, before tossing it down. The flare illuminated the room below and showed off the 100s of snakes that were chilling around what appeared to be an altar.
“Go ask Ezekiel if he still has that bottle of vodka on him,” Vixen requested with a grimace.
Reina made her way back to the guys, following her same footsteps back, before rejoining her a minute later.
“Alright oh brilliant one, what we about to do here?” Reina teased as she handed over the bottle.
Vixen laughed, “Not really brilliant… just uhh. A little crazy.”
She opened the bottle up and poured the bottle out both onto the center of the altar, and accidently onto some of the snakes surrounding it.
“Got any matches, hot stuff?” Vixen teased back.
Reina playfully glared at her and pulled out her book of matches from her breast pocket on her shirt. Vixen took the book and grabbed one match, quickly lighting it before dropping it down onto the altar. The vodka lit, and a path of flames formed from underneath the altar down a hallway. Several snakes were burned, but the fire scared the rest of them way, clearing the path.
“Ouch. Harsh,” Reina said with a wince.
“I feel… slightly bad about that, but it was the only way to safely clear them,” Vixen admitted with a frown.
They decided to then drop down from there, grabbing their flashlights as they began to follow the path that was illuminated by the flames.
Reina was examining the walls as they walked, “There’s art drawn on here. Do you think it’s Aztec or Incan?”
“Hard to tell to be honest. If there was writing maybe, but these walls have seen a lot of moisture, so much of the art is worn down,” Vixen replied staring at them as well.
They continued walking in silence for a time, walking down this one hallway.
“Is it me… or does it feel like we are going down at an angle?” Vixen eventually questioned, glancing down at her feet.
Reina nodded in response, “Think we should wait for the guys?”
“Nah. They are probably behind us anyway. Or about to catch up. Prof J doesn’t like snakes so hopefully none of them came back,” Vixen noted with a sigh.
“Doesn’t like snakes?” Reina asked stopping mid-step.
“Phobia. Something about being on a circus train and falling into the car that stored the snakes, when he was a teenager. Hasn’t liked them since,” Vixen answered with a small laugh.
Reina shuddered in response, and said, “I don’t blame him.”
They continued walking, quietly talking about old classes and such, when the pathway opened up. They were suddenly looking at a long winding rope bridge, and darkness all around them. They glanced up and could see an opening, but all that could be seen were trees.
“We are in a ravine. Fun. Great. Not terrifying at all,” Vixen quietly muttered looking around.
“I don’t like this. I think we should wait for the guys now,” Reina requested backing up slightly.
Vixen nodded in response, agreeing with her. It didn’t take long for Prof Jones and Ezekiel to catch up to them.
“Ladies. Have fun?” Ezekiel teased as he joined them.
Professor Jones stepped forward and scrutinized the bridge before them.
“We are going to take this one at time. Once we have a proper base setup, we will make improvements to this bridge, but until then, I don’t want any of you trekking across this alone, got it?” He ordered looking at each one of us.
The three of them nodded in response and watched with trepidation as he began walking across the bridge. There were several moments where they gasped as a board fell out from under his foot. After what felt like a lifetime, when in reality it was like 10 minutes, he made it to the other side.
“Alright! One at a time guys!” He called over to us, his voice echoing slightly.
Ezekiel goes next, muttering to himself ‘this is some dumb white people shit.’
Reina stared at the bridge worriedly and said, “I… I don’t know if I can handle going alone.”
She was wincing at every creak and groan of the bridge as Ezekiel walked.
“Listen… I’ll be right behind you. Those guys are twice our weight and made it over, we can do it too. Just move slowly, and don’t focus on anything but your feet,” Vixen tried to reassure as Ezekiel made it over.
Reina nodded her head, and slowly began to step forward. She had made it about halfway when her foot suddenly fell through a board. She screamed at the sudden drop and was clutching onto the bridge tightly, not moving.
The bridge shook some, and once it had slowed down, Vixen slowly made her way over to her.
“Don’t move Reina. I’m coming. I got you,” Vixen called out as she got closer.
Once she got up to her, she quietly stated, “Reina. I’m right here okay? I’m going to pull your foot out and then we are going to get up okay?”
Reina, after a moment, nodded. Vixen gently reached for Reina’s leg, and once she got a firm grip, slowly lifted it back up. Reina helped as much as she could, trying to move her leg and foot out of the way. Once her foot was free, they took a deep breath.
Vixen slowly stood up, and helped Reina get up, without shaking the bridge too much. Reina winced in pain, as she tried standing on her foot.
“We’ll check it out once we are over this, okay? C’mon. Lean against me and we will get out of here,” She said, wrapping one of Reina’s arms around her shoulder.
The walk was now a hobble and it took a while for them to get across the bridge but once they were, Ezekiel immediately took over for Vixen, and helped her take a seat on the ground.
Ezekiel then began to apply first aid treatment to her foot.
“You two good to stay here for a moment? There should be another path out of here. We are going to go on up ahead and see if we can find it. If you feel strong enough, catch up. If not, stay here and rest. We will be back before you know it,” Prof Jones informed them, concern lacing his features.
Vixen stared at Reina with concern before slowly following Prof Jones down the path before them.
“Not the best start to an adventure,” Prof Jones muttered.
“Could’ve been worse though?” Vixen offered with a shrug.
He gave a small chuckle as they continued on. They soon came into a large atrium and could see many paths leading from the center. They looked at each and sighed, before going to each tunnel to try and figure out where it led.
The first two were dead ends, and they marked an X in the dirt, to notate it. The third path led to a stairway that went further down. They decided that that was a path they would explore more at a later time. The last path was a long hallway that led to set of stairs that went up, but there was no door.
As they further examined it, they noticed that a section of the ceiling was made of wood. The both of them then, using whatever means necessary, began to shove at the wood. The wood wobbled several times, and it creaked and squeaked. They could hear roots snapping and dirt shifting. As the wood began to give way and opened, they could see cracks of sunlight breaking through as they were covered in dirt.
It took several more minutes, but soon they had pushed open the newly found double doors and were now staring at large statues hidden by the rainforest. They dusted themselves off as they move forward.
“This doesn’t look Incan to me professor,” Vixen stated as she moved a little closer examining the statues.
“It’s not. It’s Muisca. They were the most prominent of ancient civilizations here in Colombia. Incans did have an influence in this area, but it was not until about 13th century or so,” Prof Jones explained looking at the statues with reverence.
“Muisca? El Dorado?” She asked making the first connection that she remembered from class.
“Yes. The very same. Don’t get too excited though. I doubt we’ve stumbled upon on El Dorado. This is more likely either a center of worship, or it could be a small part of a much larger city,” He replied with a chuckle, shaking his head.
Vixen nodded in understanding and then looked around for a moment.
“How far do you think we are from where we started?” She asked looking in the direction that they came out from.
“Probably a good mile. The ravine we wound up in could be much larger than it appeared. So, we are going to have find out just how far off the path we’ve gotten. But first, let’s go get Ezekiel and Reina,” Professor Jones answered looking back down the stairs.
“No need. We are here,” Ezekiel’s voice called out as he and Reina came into the light.
Reina walked with a slight limp and had a hand on Ezekiel’s shoulder for support as they walked up the stairs.
The two of them looked at Reina with concern and were about to ask her how she was doing but she spoke before they could.
“Just an annoying scratch, no sprain yet. Vix, thanks for coming after me,” Reina explained before expressing gratitude to Vixen.
Vixen smiled at her brightly, relieved.
They took a moment to rest and relax before they made an hour-long trek back to where they began. The ravine was in fact much larger than it appeared, and they had to find a safer route around it. By the time they had reached the beginning, it was midday and painfully warm.
They began to clear as much as they could in the surrounding clearing, to safely put-up tents. Once their camp had been made, they made a game plan on what they needed to do first starting tomorrow. As they spoke, they were unaware of the eyes that watched them from afar. The guys made a plan to get the last of the gear from the jeep before the light left them.
As they left, Reina and Vixen began to setup a canopy, for them to have as a station for their gear and maps. They also got a campfire pit setup but did not light it. They eventually had settled down, sitting around the unlit campfire, telling each other more stories
Halfway through one story, Vixen heard a twig snap, and felt strange. She looked around, suspicious.
Reina stopped speaking as she noticed her behavior and slowly realized why Vixen was acting strange. The rainforest was eerily quiet.
Vixen got up and walked over to one of the bags and pulled out a machete, motioning for Reina to get behind her. They started walking back toward the structure looking everywhere. They heard a shout, followed by rapid gunfire. They dropped down as bullets rained over them.
It went on for several minutes before it stopped, and more shouting was heard. They couldn’t make out what was said, but soon enough they heard more yelling, this time from more familiar voices.
“Reina! Vixen!” Came Prof Jones and Ezekiel’s voices.
They could hear movement, sounds of several people rushing away, as the two of them came back to the base.
The two of them were shaking hard as they slowly lifted their heads up as the coast cleared. The guys checked them over as they came up to them. Reina was fine, Vixen had been grazed by a bullet on her arm. The wound was quickly cleaned and stitched afterwards.
As Ezekiel took care of her arm, Prof Jones made some phone calls.
“So, you glad you got that first aid and CPR training Zeke?” She lightly joked as she tried to calm down.
Ezekiel laughed and shook his head, “Glad I haven’t had to use it on myself. But so far, these are not terrible injuries. Let’s hope this is the worst it gets.”
She nodded in agreement as Professor Jones walked up to them, “Alright. By tomorrow morning, we will have a local unit come in and offer additional protection. You sure the both of you are okay?”
Vixen nodded and Reina, after a moment quietly said, “Yeah.”
“Alright. Let’s uhh. Eat and rest up,” He said with a tired sigh, before walking over to the designated food bag. They ate mostly in silence, and then made their way to their tents.
As night fell, Vixen felt a bit on edge, and was having a hard time relaxing long enough to fall asleep. She had almost given up when she heard Reina softly call her name. Vixen told her to come in, and as she did, she noticed Reina had her pillow and a blanket.
“Can’t sleep either,” Reina softly said. “Safety in numbers.”
Vixen nodded, feeling a wave of relief as Reina settled in next to her. As they both laid down, Vixen took a shaky breath in and tried to slow the racing of her heart. Reina, slowly reached over, and took Vixen’s hand into hers. She gave it a small squeeze, trying to give some comfort. Vixen after a moment squeezed hers back, and that’s how they eventually fell asleep.
The next morning, they woke up to the sound of Ezekiel tripping over a pan as he tried to make breakfast. They both snorted and giggled quietly, trying not to laugh too hard. Reina soon got up and made her way back over to her tent, so the both of them could get dressed and ready for the day.
Vixen ate a little bit, before going about her assigned task for the day. Ezekiel and Reina were going to go find a watering source nearby, and Prof Jones was going to wait for military unit and lead them up to us via walkie talkies. Vixen was going to go through and light up what she could in the tunnels, leading up to the bridge. Afterward, they were going to see if there were other openings to the main center, besides the bridge.
As she began to set up lights and make torches, she quietly examined the art on the walls. She could not make much out of them, but it appeared to show some form of worship, particularly to the sun, or a sun god.
It hadn’t taken her too long to get the hallway lit, so she quietly took photos of everything she saw.
As she did that, she heard Professor Jones call out to her, asking her to come out.
She made her way back over to the camp where several men with guns, in military uniform had appeared.
She could see the professor speaking to one of the men, and as she made her way over to them, she felt her brain short-circuit. It was Veracruz.
“Ah. This is one of my students, Y/N, but most call her Vixen. Vixen this is Comandante Veracruz,” Prof Jones introduced.
She blinked rapidly as she heard his title and name that confirmed she was not hallucinating. She slowly reached her hand out to shake.
“Pleasure to meet you, Comandante,” She greeted, surprised her voice didn’t crack.
“Pleasure is all mine, Vixen,” He replied with a smirk, his eyes roving over her up and down.
She noticed his gaze stop at the bandage on her arm and took note that it darkened, something akin to fury.
“Is this why we were called up here?” He asked motioning to her arm.
“Yes. Several men took position about 20ft back, and fired upon her and Reina,” Prof Jones explained quickly. “It was sheer luck that this was the only injury sustained.”
“Not necessarily. If they didn’t make themselves known, they clearly wanted to scare you off. If they wanted them dead, they would be. It is quite possible that they may come back,” Veracruz warned as he waved to his men. “I’m going to get them in their positions, I also don’t want any of you going off without an escort. I want either me or one of my men with you at all times.”
As he said that, Ezekiel and Reina had returned, and had been successful in their trip to find water. They noted where it was on the map, before Prof Jones caught them up on what was going on. Vixen tried to focus on the conversation at hand but found her gaze drifting over to Veracruz as he ordered his men.
Seeing him in his position of power was a major turn on and she was not okay. Her mind kept drifting back to their one-night stand.
Veracruz eventually joined them with three other men. Prof Jones quickly introduced him to Ezekiel and Reina.
“I am Comandante Veracruz, this is Horacio, Rene, and Tadeo. The four of us will be guarding each of you. Horacio, you will be with the professor, Rene with Ezekiel. Tadeo with Reina. Which.. leaves me with you, Vixen,” He assigned turning to each person as he said their name.
When he turned to look at her, his eyes almost dared her to protest. She didn’t. She just nodded her head, even though internally she was screaming.
“I ask that the four of you wait here, while we get ourselves setup, and do a quick perimeter check,” He said in a tone that didn’t leave room for arguing.
By the time his men were done with that, it was late in the day, and any plans to find another safer entrance to the other side of the underground temple, was halted. The three of them were mildly annoyed by it.
“We are not exploring the rainforest in the dark, most animals go hunting at this time. It’s safer to just stay nearby,” Prof Jones explained since we were all annoyed.
Vixen did a small eyeroll, before getting up and grabbing her camera. “I’m going to finish my photos, then.”
As she made her way back inside, she briefly heard Veracruz swear in Spanish before running to catch up to her.
“And just where do you think you are going?” He asked, moving to stand in front of her.
“Inside. I have work to do. I’m not letting a… babysitter get in the way of it,” She stated with narrowed eyes.
“Babysitter?” He repeated annoyance lacing his features as she moved past him.
As she made her way inside, he followed after her. She took a few more photos, and as she stopped to look at them, she failed to notice that he had crept up beside her. He took the camera out of her hand suddenly and set it on the ground away from them.
As she moved to protest and tried to reach for it, he pinned her against the wall. Her hands were trapped between their bodies as he pressed himself firmly against her.
“Babysitter? Really?” He mocked slightly, his hand reaching up to brush her hair out of her face. “I am here as a favor, princess. I could very easily, leave you to the wolves. Do not mock my authority.”
She shuddered slightly as his tone got darker. She muttered, “I’m sorry. Can I have my camera back please?”
“Hmmm. I don’t know… I quite like the position we are in. Maybe I should see just how quiet you can be?” He whispered into her ear as one of his hands ran up her side.
She shivered at the thought and stared up at him. She bit her lip at the thought. He even leaned in close, acting like he was going to kiss her.
“Then again that wouldn’t be very professional of me,” He teased as he pulled away, picking her camera back up. “Finish your photos, Princess.”
She blinked at the sudden loss, and stared at him, her jaw dropped. She closed it after a moment, took a deep breath to calm her racing thoughts. She took her camera away from him, and finished up her photos, now painfully aware of him and his presence.
She was slightly embarrassed that she would’ve willingly let him do whatever he wanted to her a moment ago. She didn’t care that his men and her team were only 20ft away from their location.
Once she was done, they started to move back to the base. He made subtle touches to her as they did. His hand would brush against hers, or he would needlessly help her step over fallen trees and limbs, pulling her close to him.
She had one thought as she rejoined the group, ‘This is going to be a long project.’

Breaking Down Walls
(Seokjin x Reader) Oneshot, College!AU, Bi!Reader
Genre: (PG15) f2l, generous helping of angst, with a healthy dose of fluff
Warnings: Homophobia (side characters), toxic jealousy, false claims of sexual harassment (non-detailed), mentions of an unhealthy/toxic friendship, semi-mature jokes/references, swearing
WC: 17.8k
Description: Being suddenly outcasted and judged by everyone really forces one to build up walls. Having gotten used to not having friends and dealing with the snide comments, you plan on just keeping your head down until you graduate next year. That is, until someone decides they’re going to tear your walls down.
A/N – Thank you to the lovely @moccahobi and @ditttiii for beta-reading for me! I love you guys!
The first few days back at school were always peculiar. Some people were overly excited to start a new year or semester, working hard on their ‘first day back’ outfits and super pumped to do all their work on time (give it a week or two and they’d remember that they loved to procrastinate). There were those who dreaded it, mourning the loss of their vacation and reluctant to pick up their books once again. Others didn’t particularly care either way–just went through the motions, wanting to get through their education in order to reap the supposed rewards at the end of the tunnel.
And then there was me, who didn’t hate the fact that I was coming back to school, but rather hated the fact that I had to deal with my peers in order to do it.
I walked through the hallways, ones familiar to me after spending two full years here, keeping my head down and focusing on nothing but making my way to the next class of the day. So far things had gone as per usual in each of my classes, so when I double-checked my schedule to make sure that I had the right room for the abnormal psychology course before walking through the doorway, I expected the same here as well.
I scanned the room, looking for an ideal seat. Despite many still being open, all of the seats left required sitting next to one of my classmates. Holding back a sigh, I decided to go with the easiest path and picked an empty seat at the end of a row. Barely two seconds after I had sat down the person sitting next to me, along with his friend who was oblivious to the hearts in his eyes, packed up their belongings and looked for different seats to occupy in the class.
Yup, just as expected.
Unfazed, I started emptying my bookbag of the items I needed for the class. After gathering my notebook, pen, and textbook–even though I probably wasn’t going to need it today anyway but hey, I liked to be prepared–I was about to place my bag on the seat next to me, knowing no one was going to want to sit there.
But before I could even turn to look at the chair, it was occupied. By a person. A living, breathing person.
I glanced around the room, figuring that in the short time it took me to get ready for class, the room must have filled up. But no, there were just as many open seats still left in the room. Looking past the person to the next seat over, I could see that even that one was still empty.
This wasn’t a class freshman could take so unless this person lived under a rock, I couldn’t figure out why they would voluntarily sit next to me. As curious as I was to see who was willing to jeopardize their entire social life over this seat, I avoided making eye contact and placed my bag on the floor.
The mystery student made no effort to get my attention or address me, so I relaxed as we waited for the professor to arrive and class to start.
Other than that, the class went by just as boring and ordinary as possible. The professor took ten hours to go over the syllabus that was almost the same for every class, talked about the attendance policy that was the same for every class, and told us our expectations that was - again - pretty much the same for every class. Basically, I didn’t know why the teachers bothered going over every little detail when they had to know we’d already heard it fifty times. Just tell me my final grade depended on this one big project and if I didn’t do it I was screwed, and that was all I needed to know.
The professor finished going over the monotonous formalities and dismissed our class just on time. I slowly gathered my things, preferring to wait until the majority of the others had already fought their way out of the door first before leaving. It was easier to avoid comments I didn’t want to hear that way.
As I finished getting my stuff together and went to stand up I looked to my left, seeing the rebellious classmate just sitting there, looking like he was waiting for something. A beat later, he turned to me and smiled. He smiled?
“Hello,” he greeted, holding out a hand, presumably for me to shake. “I’m Namjoon.”
I cautiously took his hand in mine. “(Y/n),” I responded while I finally got a good look at him. He had bleached blonde hair slicked to the side to expose his forehead. His features looked somehow simultaneously intimidating and friendly.
“It’s nice to meet you, (Y/n).”
If I didn’t dislike being around my peers so much, I wouldn’t really hate eating in the school cafeteria. Unfortunately, the food was paid for as part of the tuition and if I spent my days eating takeout and fast food, I’d be twice as broke as I already was. So I didn’t have much choice other than to eat most of my meals in a room filled with aforementioned peers. Sometimes it felt like I was a sitting duck in here.
I picked my poison for today’s lunch and scanned the room for an empty table. Luckily, there was one over in a corner where, hopefully, I wouldn’t be bothered. I placed my tray on the table before sitting down and taking my phone out to send a text message to the person I was supposed to meet, letting him know where I was and asking if he was on his way.
While I was preoccupied with my phone, I felt the presence of someone standing next to the table. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see it was definitely not who I was waiting for. I mentally rolled my eyes, waiting to find out if this one was going to be typical or original.
“Is this seat taken?” a sickly-sweet voice asked.
“Yes, it is,” I replied apathetically.
She sat down anyway. I spared a quick glance over my phone at her before resuming to stare at my screen as though glaring at the text was going to force him to reply.
“I hear I’m your type,” the girl announced after a moment of silence. It appeared she was taking the typical approach.
I ignored her presence entirely, pretending that I had something interesting to look at on my phone.
“What? Am I not pretty enough for you to pay attention to?” she asked, pretending to be offended.
I actually rolled my eyes. It has nothing to do with looks, I thought. But instead I said, “Why? Would you be willing to roll around in the hay with me if you were?”
Her eyes widened, clearly not expecting me to put her on the spot like that. While she spluttered away, someone else approached the table.
“Excuse me, that’s my seat,” the newcomer said.
She looked up to see who was interrupting her embarrassment. After registering who it was she smirked and let her eyes wander over his figure, checking him out rather blatantly.
I had to stop myself from gagging at the scene.
“Oh honey, there’s no point in trying with her,” she said, attempting a sultry, flirty voice. “You’re not her type.” She stood up and brushed her fingertips along his arm. “You could come sit with me though, I’d love to get to know you.”
He smiled while she batted her eyelashes up at him. “I don’t need her to be interested in me,” he said sweetly before swatting her hand away as his expression turned serious. “She’s my sister; I’d appreciate it if you left her alone. And don’t even try, sweetheart. You’re never getting into these pants.”
Her face instantly paled and she hurried away without another word lest she embarrass herself any more.
My brother sat down with a huff while I tried my best to suppress my laugh. “Sorry I’m late, noona,” he said. “My literature professor apparently doesn’t know how to time manage his classes.”
“It’s alright,” I said. He looked at me concerned, silently asking if I was okay. “I’m fine, Chim. Don’t worry about it, you know I’m used to it by now.” I assured him, finally digging into my meal.
“The only reason people have gotten away with it up until now is because your brother wasn’t here to put them in their place.” He pointed his chopsticks at me. “I’m going to make sure no one treats you like that anymore.”
“Jimin,” I sighed, “you really don’t need to do anything. I appreciate you and your help when you’re with me, but don’t try to be my bodyguard. Try to enjoy your time at school, hmm? Go make some friends!”
“Who said I haven’t made any friends?” he responded defensively. “There’s this interesting kid I got paired up with as my lab partner in biology and we get along pretty well.” His eyes widened and he gasped, excitedly tapping on my hand. “Oh my gosh. Noona, I gotta introduce him to you. He is fine. I don’t swing that way, but holy crap does he make me question if I would for him.”
“Mm, sounds like a great start to a friendship,” I laughed. “So, you’re enjoying school so far?”
Jimin shrugged. “I mean, as much as I can enjoy school I guess. You know me, I don’t even know what I want to do yet.”
While Jimin continued to dig into his food, I more or less just pushed mine around. I did know that, just as well as I knew that our parents wouldn’t have been mad if he wanted to wait to go to school so he could try to figure it out first. And he certainly didn’t need to come to this school of all places.
While I didn’t get bad grades, I wasn’t exactly a star student. I had to work really hard to keep my grades up and even then I was barely above average. But Jimin, he was brilliant. Always class president, always effortlessly intelligent, always amazing in anything he did. Before last year, he was talking about going to schools more prestigious than this one. He didn’t need to be here, and I worried that the only reason he was, was because he felt obligated to me.
“Hey, noona,” Jimin called, waving his hand in front of my face and bringing my mind back to reality. “Instead of looking at your rice like it offended you, why don’t you tell me how your classes are going so far?”
I chuckled at his observation. “Well, they’re going about the same as I expected,” I said, shrugging. “No one bothers me and all the teachers gave us the same exact lecture about the syllabus.” I paused while I finally brought a spoonful of rice to my mouth. “Oh, there was one weird thing though.”
“Weird?” Jimin asked, worried. “What do you mean weird? Did something happen?”
“Oh, no, nothing bad,” I clarified, making him relax. “It’s just, in one of my psych classes yesterday, someone actually voluntarily sat next to me. And not just that, he introduced himself to me after class too. Like he’s trying to be friendly with me?”
“That’s wonderful!” Jimin cheered, smiling so wide his eyes disappeared. “Maybe he’s being friendly because he wants to be your friend.”
“I don’t know, Chim,” I replied, thoughtfully chewing my chicken. “I mean he seemed really nice, but no one has approached me with good intentions ever since… before her.”
“Well, maybe he has some sense and doesn’t give a crap about rumors,” Jimin said around a mouthful of food. “Why don’t you give him a chance, hm? I’ll be your backup in case anything goes wrong.”
I slowly nodded. “I’ll think about it.” We were silent for a few moments until I said, “So, tell me more about this hot friend of yours.”
When I entered the classroom for abnormal psychology the next day, I was a little surprised to see Namjoon sitting in the same seat from two days prior. Despite the fact that he had chosen to sit next to me, and that he was also the one to initiate a conversation (even if it was only introductions), I felt nervous. What if I sat down next to him and he decided he didn’t want anything to do with me?
But then again, if he didn’t, he wouldn’t have sat in the same seat… Right? Steeling my nerves, I slowly walked toward the chair. I did my best to try not paying him any attention as I sat down and gathered my items for the class. After setting my bag on the floor, I chanced a glance at him and was relieved to see he was still there.
He turned to me and smiled, but before he could initiate any conversation (not that I thought he would want to) the professor entered the room and started his first actual lecture of the year.
“I’d recommend that you all start chatting and getting to know each other because there will be a few partner assignments in this class, and I will let you pick your own partners,” the professor said as the class was coming to an end. “The first one will be assigned next week.” Then he dismissed the class.
“Do you want to work on the assignments together?” Namjoon asked as soon as the professor was done talking.
Shocked, I turned to him with widened eyes. Did he seriously just ask me that? I was too baffled to say or do anything while he began to pack up his belongings.
“Do you have a class after this one?” he asked instead when I didn’t answer.
I blinked, refocusing on the present. “N-no,” I managed to reply.
“Well, if you’re hungry let’s get some lunch together,” he suggested, picking up my bag to start putting away my things for me.
Realizing that I had been standing there like an idiot, and that there were multiple eyes on us, I hastily grabbed the remainder of my things to put away, Namjoon holding the bag open for me. When I was done, I zipped it up and took it from him, slipping it onto my shoulders.
“Are you hungry?” he asked, following up his offer from a moment ago that I realized I hadn’t replied to.
I tentatively nodded and he smiled, leading me out of the classroom with him. I heard students whispering around us but Namjoon seemed to completely ignore them.
As we walked to the cafeteria, I couldn’t help but wonder why he was being nice to me. Jimin told me to give him a chance, but that was far easier said than done. Ever since that post on the school forum last year, I had been more or less alone. To protect myself I had to quickly learn how to build up walls that I never had before. Anyone who talked to me now did it with an ill intent, wanting to tear me down and make me out to be a bad person.
So why was this boy that I had never met before being so nice to me? I couldn’t believe there was no way he didn’t know about what had happened because I had yet to encounter another student who hadn’t heard about how I was such a terrible person. As much as I wanted to listen to Jimin and deep down hoped for the best, I had to keep my walls up. I couldn’t let my guard down because he was probably going to end up being just the same as everyone else.
We made it to the cafeteria, silently collected the food we wanted, and then he led me to a table he seemed comfortable sitting at. I remained quiet while I started to eat my meal, feeling Namjoon’s eyes on me as he did the same.
“So, you never answered my question,” he said after a few minutes had passed.
I looked up from my tray of food and met his eyes. With furrowed brows, I tried to remember what question he was talking about.
Seeing the confusion on my face, Namjoon chuckled. “About if you wanted to be my partner for the assignments?”
“Oh,” I said quietly. I thought about it for a moment, but really there wasn’t much to think about. Regardless of his possible intentions, chances were no one else would ask me.
“Yeah, that sounds good.” I answered, my voice staying quiet out of shyness. The only people I’ve had real conversations with in over half a year were my brother and parents, so my social skills were rather out of practice.
“Awesome.” He smiled widely, dimples I hadn’t noticed before on full display. “We should exchange phone numbers then,” he added as he pulled out his phone and presented it to me.
I entered my number into his phone with shaking hands before handing it back to him. He pressed the call button and I felt my own vibrate in my pocket before he ended the call.
“There, now we can keep in touch,” he said, still smiling. His attention, however, was diverted when he caught something out of the corner of his eye.
“Oh, hyung! Over here!” He waved to get the person’s attention. “I hope you don’t mind, my hyung and I agreed to meet for lunch during this time. I thought you two might get along.” I was curious how he came to any conclusion like that when we had just recently met, not having had any substantial conversations to actually get to know each other yet.
I turned to look at who it was Namjoon was calling to and saw a tall and rather handsome man approaching. His hair was a little longer, bangs parted on either side of his face and he had soft-looking thick lips. He was smiling at Namjoon as he walked up to the table, about to greet him back until he noticed me.
Once Namjoon’s friend’s eyes fell on me, his smile faltered and he looked surprised. His gaze hesitantly flitted back and forth between me and Namjoon and he looked unsure of what to do. Realizing that he must have recognized me and probably felt uncomfortable with the idea of sitting with me, I turned back to Namjoon and spoke up.
“Thanks, Namjoon.” I tried to smile but could feel how forced it was. I quickly started to collect my things. “I’ll see you in class.” I picked up my tray, quickly getting up to look for an empty table to sit at before he had time to respond.
Namjoon quietly called for me once and then I heard some rushed whispering as I walked away but I ignored it, not wanting to think too hard about it. This was why I reminded myself to be careful and not become too hopeful. I just needed to stick to my plan of keeping to myself until I graduated next year. It was only for two years. I could do it.
I found an empty table, thankfully a fair distance from where Namjoon was with his friend and sat down to finish my meal alone, in silence. Just like I was used to.
However, the silence only lasted a couple of minutes until someone suddenly sat in front of me. Shocked, my head snapped up to see Namjoon across the table from me, and his friend standing behind him, looking at the ground.
“Sorry about that, (Y/n),” Namjoon apologized, a soft smile on his face. “I could tell that Seokjin hyung made you feel awkward. We didn’t mean to make you feel unwelcome.”
Namjoon’s friend, Seokjin brought his gaze up to meet mine. “I’m sorry if I made you think that,” he said. “I was just surprised to see you there. I wouldn’t mind sitting with you at all , if you are okay with that.”
It took me a moment to process the words. I couldn’t help but feel a little suspicious of how much it seemed Namjoon was determined to be around me, but I decided it was best not to voice my concerns right now. I slowly nodded, Seokjin seeming to relax at the motion and he took a seat next to Namjoon.
“I’m Seokjin,” he said. “I know Joon said my name but I figured it’d be polite to still properly introduce myself.”
“It appears as though you know who I am,” I responded, “but I’ll introduce myself as well. I’m (Y/n). Nice to meet you.” I offered my hand for him to take if he wanted, and he didn’t hesitate to do so. His hand held onto mine gently as he smiled warmly.
“Likewise,” Seokjin said, giving my hand a soft squeeze before letting go.
It was obvious to me that the two were close and seemed to have known each other for a long time. As we sat together, it was mostly Namjoon and Seokjin chatting and every now and then, one of them would address me to bring me into the conversation but I would keep my responses to a minimum. I didn’t want to be rude, but I still remained hesitant to be too open with them.
It didn’t take me long to notice others would look at our table every now and then, and many times my eyes had wandered around to gauge how much attention we were drawing. No doubt they were trying to figure out who was stupid enough to sit with me, and wondering why.
“Hey, (Y/n),” Seokjin said, pulling my attention away from a few tables over where girls were pointing and whispering. “Don’t pay them any attention.”
I suddenly felt self-conscious. Did they notice the attention too? I looked down at my food when I asked, “Does it not bother you that people are watching and whispering?”
“They are stupid,” Namjoon said, scoffing. “It’s none of their business what you or anyone else is doing and they need to learn to keep their noses out of it.” He paused, and I looked up to see him staring right back at me. “And no, it doesn’t bother me. I don’t care for rumors or gossip, so they can say whatever they want about me. It holds no value.”
Seokjin didn’t say much, but he did nod in agreement and gave me a smile. “No one has any right to judge anyway. I like to form my opinions of others based on my own experiences with them, not from what others say.”
Their words made me feel just a little more hopeful that for once, someone didn’t have a hidden motive. That maybe, just maybe, Namjoon and perhaps even his friend Seokjin didn’t want to harm me. I wouldn’t hold onto that quite yet, but I couldn’t remember the last time I felt this light.
Over the past two weeks, Jimin had been telling me a lot about this new friend of his, Taehyung. Basically every time we met up he would start gushing about him. Apparently Taehyung had the best sense of humor and was always making Jimin laugh (to which I reminded him was not difficult to do), was deceivably smart, and a really good listener. Each point that Jimin gave him was another reason for him to tell me how much he thought we would get along.
Which was why I wasn’t opposed to meeting him, especially considering that he was a freshman just like Jimin and may not have heard about what happened last year. From what Jimin told me he did genuinely seem like a nice guy. However, meeting two others as well? That was scary. But Jimin was so sure that it’d be fine and if there was anyone in this world that I trusted, it was my baby brother.
So I made my way to Daydream Café, feeling entirely nervous on the way. It was a place that students here frequented, but it also wasn’t quite yet lunchtime so hopefully most students weren’t out just yet.
A bell rang as I walked through the red-painted door, and immediately I was surrounded by delicious smells from the home-baked treats the little shop sold. I used to come here a lot with my friend up until winter last year, and I hadn’t realized how much I missed the atmosphere. It was genuinely a great place.
“Noona!” I heard Jimin’s voice call out a moment later, and I smiled when I saw where he sat, waving his arm high in the air to get my attention. Sitting next to him was who I assumed to be Taehyung, seeing how comfortable the two of them looked with each other. The other two with them where on the opposite side of the table where I couldn’t quite see them yet.
I approached the table, slightly waving at my brother’s friend when he smiled at me. Jimin got up to come meet me partway, practically dragging me the rest of the way to the table.
“I ordered your favorite for you,” Jimin said, pointing the cup sitting at the seat next to where he was sitting. “And this is Taehyung!” Jimin gestured toward his friend once he stopped pulling on my arm. I had to admit that my brother’s claims about how attractive the boy was were very accurate. I actually had to pause while I took in his seemingly perfect features, highlighted by a big rectangular smile. His bright blue hair reminded me of cotton candy, and it fit him surprisingly well.
Taehyung waved in greeting while Jimin pulled out my chair for me and sat in his own seat. After sitting down myself, I saw the two sitting across from us and my eyes widened in shock, recognizing them instantly.
“These are Tae’s hyungs, Namjoon and Seokjin,” Jimin said. “Well, Seokjin is his actual older brother, Namjoon is their cousin.” The three of them being related certainly made sense with how they each seemed to get the absolute best from the gene pool.
Namjoon and Seokjin also seemed pretty surprised to see me, but their faces both quickly dissolved into smiles. “Actually, we’ve already met,” Namjoon said from his seat next to the wall. “What a coincidence. Nice to see you, (Y/n).”
I smiled in return, having grown a bit more comfortable with them since we first met two weeks ago.
“Oh, really?” Taehyung asked. “How do you know each other?”
“I met Namjoon in my abnormal psych class,” I explained. “We’re doing an assignment together. And I met Seokjin when the three of us ate lunch together during the first week of classes.” I had seen Seokjin a few times after that too, since the two of them shared a dorm and that’s where I would usually meet Namjoon to work on the assignment.
While I was still hesitant to trust anyone other than my brother, I felt more relaxed with the both of them every time I saw them. I couldn’t help but still be scared that it was wishful thinking, but they really did seem like they wanted to be friends.
Jimin beamed. “I told you they were nice! Namjoon hyung must be the one who sat next to you, then.” He looked at Joon, who nodded in confirmation. “See, didn’t I tell you to give him a chance?”
“It’s awesome that your noona is already friends with my hyungs, Jiminie,” Taehyung said. “This make things so much easier. We should all meet up every day!”
“Every day?” Seokjin asked, raising his eyebrows at his brother. “No way. We all have classes, and to be honest I’m not thrilled with the idea of having to see you every day.”
Taehyung frowned. “But Jinnie hyung, didn’t you miss me? We hardly saw each other the last three years, but now I can see you every day!”
“Seems like you’re the one who missed me,” Seokjin retorted before taking a sip of his coffee.
“Don’t let him fool you, Tae,” Namjoon chimed him. “He definitely missed you.”
Seokjin smacked Namjoon’s arm. “I did not!”
While the cousins were laughing and teasing each other, one of the workers at the café approached our table, untying his apron. “Hey guys!” he said as he plopped down on the seat next to Seokjin, across from me.
“Oh hey, Hoseok,” Seokjin said. “You on break?”
“Yeah, I got fifteen minutes before I need to go back.” He turned to look at me and Jimin, a bright smile on his face. “Do I get to be introduced to your new friends here?” he asked.
“This is my friend, Jimin!” Taehyung said, grabbing onto my brother’s arm. “And that’s his sister, (Y/n). She shares a class with Namjoon hyung too.”
“Nice to meet you both,” Hoseok said as he held out his hand for us to shake. Jimin didn’t hesitate to take it, while I was a little slower to follow. “My name is Hoseok. These two-” he gestured to Namjoon and Seokjin “-are practically glued to my side, so if you plan on sticking around them you’ll probably be seeing a lot of me.”
“Yeah because it’s definitely not the other way around,” Namjoon chuckled.
Jimin easily slid into comfortable conversation with everyone, while I mostly sat back and observed. It was a bit overwhelming, somehow feeling welcome and accepted – or at least not unwelcome – with so many people at once after so long. Taehyung was understandable, probably not knowing about the events from last year yet. But I was still trying to figure out Namjoon and Seokjin, and I knew for a fact Hoseok has been attending the school for a few years, having seen him around.
Feeling like I was almost finding somewhere I might belong, it seemed too good to be true.
Today was really beautiful despite fall starting to settle into the air, the heat barely there and breeze calm enough to keep it from feeling too chilled. Being unable to resist the pull of fresh air while the weather lasted, I found myself sitting against a tree in the school’s park, textbook in my lap.
I had become accustomed to spending most of my time in my dorm when I didn’t have class or need to eat, but it got stuffy always being indoors all the time. Days like today were worth spending outside, and usually I could be absorbed enough in my work that I didn’t pay attention to any looks and no one really bothered me.
It seemed that today was one of my lucky days. I successfully spent two hours here so far and had yet to have any intrusions into the bubble I created for myself.
But while I was in the middle of doing my calculus work, I felt someone sit next to me. Realizing my relaxing afternoon of being left alone was apparently over, I began packing up my stuff without acknowledging whoever wanted to interrupt my peace.
“You’re just going to leave when I stopped by to keep you company?” The very familiar voice said.
I halted my actions, turning to see a smiling Seokjin sitting next to me. I relaxed, placing my things back down. “Sorry, Seokjin. I didn’t think it was you.”
His smile faltered. “You figured I was someone else here to bully you.” It wasn’t a question but rather an observation.
“Yeah,” I responded. “That’s pretty much what I have gotten used to. I’m honestly still not used to the idea of there being people who want to talk to me and not do that.”
“I would never,” Seokjin replied. “But I understand what you mean.”
Having already closed my textbook, I decided I could finish later and put it away in my bag. “So, what brings you over here today, Seokjin?”
“You know, you can just call me Jin if you want.” He cleared his throat and looked at the ground when he mumbled, “Or oppa would work, too.”
“Are you?” I asked. “My oppa I mean.”
“Well, you’re a junior like Namjoon right?” Jin replied. “I’m a senior so yeah, I’m pretty sure I am.”
“Oh, okay.” I said. In the three weeks we had known each other, this was actually mostly new information. “Then I’ll try asking again. What brings you out to the park today, Jin oppa?”
A small smile flashed on his face for a split second before he answered. “I was just out enjoying the weather. I figured when I saw you sitting here, I might as well join you. But you can keep doing your work if you want.”
“Eh, I’ve been at it for about-” I checked my phone to see what time it was “-two and a half hours now. So I’m pretty due for a break I think.”
“Oh, good. Glad I could be of help then,” he smiled.
I nodded before resting my head back against the tree behind me. Namjoon and Seokjin had continued to be friendly with me, even outside of class and the assignment Namjoon and I were working on together. After three weeks it became really hard to still be suspicious that they had some kind of hidden agenda and I found myself growing more and more comfortable with them. But I was still determined to keep my walls up, just in case.
We sat in silence together for a few moments, just enjoying the nice weather of the sunny afternoon. Soon, Jin’s phone vibrated and he took it out from his jean pocket. After reading whatever was on the screen, he started looking around.
“Is something wrong?” I asked.
“Not wrong,” he said. “But Tae sent me a picture of the two of us sitting here. So I’m trying to figure out where he is.”
Then, my phone started vibrating. I looked to see my brother was calling me. Sliding the green button on the screen, I answered. “Hey, Jimin. What’s up?”
I could hear laughing on the other end. “Seokjin hyung looks almost paranoid, looking all around like that.”
I rolled my eyes, turning to Jin. “It seems both our brothers are teaming up on us.” Going back to the phone call, I said, “Where are you two? It’s rude to spy on your older siblings.”
I could hear the notification sound of the call ending. But then, “Oh, you mean it’s rude to spy on your little date?” Jimin’s voice said from nearby.
Jin and I turned to our right to see both of our brothers standing there. Jin spluttered, seeming flustered at the fact that Jimin called whatever this was right now – which was most definitely not a date – a date.
“We’re not having a date,” I said plainly. “We’re just sitting here.”
“Uh huh, sure,” Taehyung said. “Looks like a date to me.”
“Yah!” Jin got up to encase Tae in a headlock. “Then what would you call you and Jimin hanging out all the time huh? If I’m on a date, then so are you.”
Taehyung laughed. “No offense to Jimin because he’s totally attractive, but you know I don’t swing that way, hyung!”
While they were arguing, I gathered all my things and stood up as well. “What were you guys up to, though?” I asked Jimin.
“We were just headed over to Daydream Café,” he answered. “Hobi hyung told Tae he saved a slice of his mom’s strawberry cheesecake for him.”
Oh yeah, that was something we had learned after meeting Hoseok last week, too. His parents actually owned Daydream Café, and his mom was responsible for many of the delicious home-baked treats there.
“Do you guys want to come with us?” Taehyung asked, finally out of his brother’s hold.
“Yeah sure, why not,” Seokjin said. “But I’m not third-wheeling you two. So I’ll go if (Y/n) wants to.”
I looked at Jin, shrugging. “Alright. It’s not like I have anything better to do, right?”
We all started on our way to the café, but before we could get very far I heard my name being called. I tensed up, easily recognizing the voice.
“(Y/n)!” she called again. I closed my eyes, taking in a deep breath before turning around to face her. “I thought that was you. Long time no see,” she said, a smile that I once thought was genuine on her face.
“Hi, Yunhee,” I greeted back, trying to not seem too tense.
Recognizing her as well, Jimin gripped my hand tight and I could almost feel anger radiating off of him despite him now being behind me. “What do you want?” Jimin asked, absolutely no hint of the usual light, playful tone in his voice.
Yunhee took his reaction in stride, ignoring him and instead addressing me again. “I see you’ve managed to make some new friends,” she said, looking at Seokjin and Taehyung.
I remained silent, knowing that whatever I said would only fuel her and once she started going there was no stopping her. I looked next to me, seeing that Seokjin looked deep in thought about something and Taehyung was looking both concerned and confused at what was going on.
“It’s none of your business” Jimin said, still defensive. “We don’t want to talk to you, so please leave us alone while I’m asking nicely.”
I heard a light gasp from Seokjin, his expression lighting up and mouth opening and eyes widening. As quickly as it happened the expression was gone, replaced with a look of absolute disdain aimed right at Yunhee.
“You heard him,” he said, his tone sounding darker than I had ever heard it. There was a spine-chilling authoritativeness to it. “Leave. You’re not welcome here.”
Yunhee merely looked amused, a smirk on her lips and eyebrows raised, but made no move to leave. “You got yourself some pretty defensive friends here, (Y/n).”
Jimin walked around me to stand in front of her, face to face, while he kept a firm hold on my hand. “We told you to leave. You have no right to be talking to my sister.”
She made a sound of realization. “That’s right, you’re little Jimin. I almost didn't recognize you without your chubby little cheeks.” She turned back to me. “I just wanted to have a chat with my old friend. Can’t I do that?”
“You made it very clear last year that you aren’t her friend anymore, you backstabbing bitch,” Seokjin said, moving forward as well. “What don’t you understand about leaving her alone?”
At this point I became aware of just how much of a scene we were causing, many students nearby having stopped to watch the commotion. I tugged on Jimin’s sleeve to get his attention. I gave him a look that I hope told him that I wanted to get out of here, and he luckily seemed to understand.
“I guess we’ll need to leave if you won’t then,” Jimin said. “Come on, noona.” He placed his hand on my elbow, starting to lead me away from her. Seokjin and a still very confused Taehyung followed as well.
Luckily, she didn’t follow or try to say anything more as we walked away. We walked in silence for a little bit while I assumed we were still heading to Daydream Café. Then I remembered something that I heard Seokjin say.
“Jin oppa,” I said to get his attention. He turned to look at me, waiting for me to continue. “You called Yunhee a backstabbing bitch,” I said. “Why did you say that?”
He looked nervous, eyes flitting around and pressing his lips together, so I pushed a little more. “Do you know something?”
His gaze settled on me and he sighed lightly. “If we’re going to talk about that, maybe we should go somewhere more private,” he gently offered.
Now curious of what it was he had to say, I nodded.
“Let’s go back to my dorm?” Seokjin suggested.
“Namjoon will probably be there too, won’t he?” I asked.
“Probably,” Jin replied. “But I think that would honestly be better if he is, if you’re okay with that.”
I thought for a moment before carefully nodding. I assumed that if Seokjin knew something, Namjoon probably did too anyway. “Okay. I guess it won’t make much difference anyway.”
On the way there Taehyung kept looking at me curiously, but he kept any questions to himself for the time being.
Walking through the familiar door to Namjoon and Seokjin’s dorm, I quickly sat on their couch while my nerves started getting the best of me. I had no idea what to expect, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was about to get some answers about why these two didn’t seem to have an aversion to me like everyone else – and whether that was real or not. I looked expectantly at Jin, who had propped himself against his desk, when Namjoon came trudging out of the bathroom, hair damp from a shower.
“Hey guys, what are you all doing here?” he asked, glancing around at the relatively full room.
“We had an encounter with (Y/n)’s ‘friend’ from last year at the park,” Seokjin said. “And I have something I need to talk to her about.” He gave a pointed look to Namjoon, who seemed to understand what he meant and relaxed into the other seat in the room.
“Okay I know you have something to tell her, Jin hyung,” Tae chimed in first, “but I am really confused about what all is going on. I know it’s not technically any of my business, but I just feel like I’m the only one who is in the dark right now.”
I sighed. “Well, I guess basically you are.” I paused, thinking of how to put it. “You know about the school forum right?” I asked, getting a nod from him in return. “Just search for my name on there and you’ll no doubt find it.”
“That’s not right though,” Jin said. “The post on the forum isn’t the truth.”
“How would you know that?” I asked. “Everyone else seems to believe it’s true.” Jimin sat down next to me, wrapping his arms around my stomach.
Seokjin was silent for a few moments, seeming to collect his thoughts. “I knew her. Eunjung.”
The use of the name surprised me. “The post didn’t say her name. How do you…?”
“She was my friend at the time,” Jin continued. “I saw her after that post was made, and she was bragging about what happened. What she and Yunhee had done to you.” The look on his face couldn’t be mistaken for anything other than disgust. “She was proud of herself, thinking she did something good. That you… That there was something wrong with you and she was putting you in your place.”
Jimin’s arms tightened around me. “That’s terrible,” he said. “She was really that smug about slandering someone like that?”
Seokjin nodded. “I never knew she was like that. That was the last time I talked to her. I couldn’t stand even just looking at her after that.”
“And Namjoon?” I asked, turning to him. He seemed surprised that I was addressing him. “Did you know about that?”
“Yeah,” Joon responded. “Yeah, I did. Hyung was so appalled by it that he told me right after he found out.”
Learning that the two of them really did know the post from last year was only based on false events made me feel much more at ease. It was as if I were able to take a breath of fresh air for the first time in a long time, and I realized that while it may not be easy to just yet, I could honestly trust them.
“So is that why you sat next to noona then?” Jimin asked.
Namjoon hesitated for a moment. “I mean, it's one reason why I didn't automatically dislike her. In all honesty, I had entered the classroom right after her and saw that when she sat down the students sitting next to her left. It made me angry, so I just decided on the spot I wanted to sit next to her. But also – I said this before and I'll say it again – I don't care about rumors and gossip in the first place.”
“Okay,” Taehyung interrupted. “So, what I’m gathering is that this Eunjung and Yunhee are royal bitches and made a post on the school forum making you look bad?”
I hummed. “More or less, yeah.”
“So, if what they posted is untrue why don’t you just tell everyone?” Taehyung added, treating it like that was the easiest thing ever.
“You don’t think I tried?” I responded. “I tried, I really did. No one would believe me. I mean, why would they? They didn’t just make fun of me. They made me out to be this really bad person. Someone who, if what they were claiming was true, wouldn’t be entirely undeserving of how I started to be treated.”
“But you’re not,” Jimin said. “You’re nothing like what they said.”
“Can I ask?” Taehyung asked hesitantly. “What did happen?”
“(Y/n),” Yunhee singsonged as she sat next to me.
I hummed in response, barely paying attention to what was going on. Suddenly, she poked me in my side, making me jump and yelp. “Hey! What was that for?”
“You’re not paying attention to me,” my closest friend pouted. “But now that I do have your attention, tell me who it is.” She wiggled her eyebrows.
“What do you mean?” I asked. “Who what is?”
“Oh, come on! I know that look!” She scooted closer to me, grabbing my arm. “You got a crush on someone, don’t you?”
I pursed my lips together as I felt heat rise to my cheeks before answering with a small nod.
Yunhee squealed. “I knew it! Tell me, tell me, tell me!”
“I-It’s no one,” I said, hesitant to admit my secret to her. Despite being friends for five years, I couldn’t help but still be afraid of what she would say.
She whined in disappointment. “Oh! I know, why don’t I try guessing who it is?” She hummed as she thought of her first guess. “Is it that guy who sits next to us in math?”
“Nope.”
“How about the guy-”
“Nope.”
“Is it that boy-”
“No!” I laughed. “It’s not any of them.”
“How do you know?” she pouted again. “You didn’t even hear who I was guessing.”
“Don’t need to, they’re wrong,” I shrugged.
She playfully glared at me. “Well if you won’t let me guess then you can at least just tell me who it is. The suspense is killing me!”
I contemplated it for a moment, wondering if it would really be okay to tell her. Well, five years of friendship couldn’t mean nothing, so maybe it wouldn’t hurt. “It’s um… Someone from my literature class.”
“Ooohhhhh, what’s his name?” she bounced up and down a few times in excitement.
“Um…. H-her name is Eunjung,” I said, feeling nervous now that it was out there and I couldn’t go back.
“Huh?” Yunhee said, suddenly no longer as excited as she was before.
Maybe this was a mistake. “It’s nothing, don’t worry about it.” I started standing up, ready to walk away and just pretend like that never happened, but her grip on my arm kept me from leaving.
She laughed nervously. “No, no, don’t leave!” she said. “I’m sorry, I just… I wasn’t expecting that. I never knew that about you.”
“Well, it’s not exactly something I can just go around telling everyone,” I said, nervously rubbing the back of my neck. “Not that you’re just anyone! It’s just… I wanted to wait to tell you and then it just kind of never came up or was relevant and I somewhat forgot about mentioning it.” I paused, waiting to see if she would say something. When she didn’t, I asked, “Are you weirded out, or-“
“Oh, no! No I’m not,” she smiled at me. “Don’t worry! But anyway, have you talked to her? This Eunjung?”
“Not really,” I replied, relaxing. “I haven’t really had the guts to yet.”
“Well, you should! You can’t exactly ask her on a date if you don’t talk to her first, right?” Yunhee said.
“You think I should talk to her? I don’t know, how am I even supposed to know if I’m her type?”
“Can’t know until you try!” Yunhee singsonged.
With her encouragement, I eventually worked up the courage to strike a conversation with Eunjung, and we ended up getting along really well. Casual conversations about class turned into getting to know each other. Short text conversations turned into staying up late talking for hours. The more I talked to her, the more I found my distant crush turning into real feelings for her.
And the more time we spent together, the more I paid attention to the little things she did. When she would let her hand linger on my arm just a little longer, when I’d look over to her to see her already staring at me, when she’d naturally and casually wrap an arm around my waist while we walked. I was worried the signals I was seeing were all my imagination or that I was exaggerating them, but they started becoming so frequent I figured there was no way they could be. So one day, I worked up the courage to ask.
“Do you want to go to dinner with me?” I rushed out as Eunjung was walking toward my door to leave.
She turned around, tilting her head while she processed my words. “Dinner?”
“Y-yeah,” I replied, suddenly embarrassed.
“You mean… like a date?” Eunjung asked as she slowly walked back in my direction.
I tried to not show my surprise at her clarification. “If- If you want it to be,” I said so quietly I would have been surprised if she heard it.
But she did, and she smiled at me. “Yes. I’d love to go to dinner with you.”
We scheduled a date, and I found a decent enough restaurant that wouldn’t completely break my bank account to take her out to. Despite being super nervous at first, I quickly relaxed when she acted just the same as she always did with me. We had a really nice dinner, followed by a stroll around a park where she took the initiative to hold my hand as we walked side by side. At the end of the date we went back to the dorm building, and I dropped her off at her room first.
“Thank you for tonight,” I said, a big smile on my face. “I had a really nice time.”
“I should be thanking you for planning such a nice date,” Eunjung said, taking my hand in hers.
I felt a blush paint my cheeks. “It was nothing.” I lifted our joined hands, smiling dumbly at the sight and rubbed small circles into the back of her hand.
When I looked back up at her, I barely had time to even see what was happening before she leaned in and placed her lips on mine. It was a short, gentle kiss. But I loved it, nonetheless.
“So, could I take you out again sometime?” I asked as she opened the door to her room
Passing through the doorway, she turned around and hummed before saying, “How about I let you know tomorrow?”
I was so elated that night. I had been on a few dates before, but I had never felt like any of them had gone as well as that. It was crazy and dangerous, how quickly I found myself falling for this girl. The last thing she said played in my mind as a promise that we would continue seeing each other, and I went to sleep so happy and looking forward to what was to come.
But the next day, my elation quickly dissipated when things seemed really off on campus. All over school, people were whispering and I was pretty sure many kept staring at me. I wasn’t one to feel paranoid, but something was weird and I just couldn’t shake off a bad feeling.
It was when I walked into my first classroom and it went deathly silent so quickly that I really knew something was wrong. Having noticed that many people were also glued to their phones, I thought the most likely place for whatever it was that was making everyone act like that would have been the school forum.
Sitting in my seat and logging in, I found the most popular post at the top where my name was prominently placed in the title along with words that I could hardly even believe. I suddenly felt sick, and I hadn’t even read the actual post yet. Without caring what other people would think about it, I picked up my bag and hurried out of the class, heading toward the closest bathroom and locking myself in a stall.
LESBIAN STUDENT PARK (Y/N) SEXUALLY HARASSES PEER
Needing to find out what could have possibly led to that title, I began to read through the words and what I found was unbelievable. The post claimed that after befriending another girl – whose identity wasn’t revealed – I started putting unwanted advances on her, until eventually pressuring her into going on a date.
It continued to claim that I kept being touchy throughout dinner and on our walk, making her continuously feel uncomfortable. And best of all, the post claimed that when I took her back to her room I forced her to kiss me, and tried to force even more on her – things that I would never do and couldn’t even imagine. It said that she managed to get me off of her before she rushed into her room and cried herself to sleep.
The further into the post I got, the more my hands shook and the blurrier my vision became as tears clouded my eyes. I couldn’t believe what I was reading. The whole time I was nothing but respectful and kept my distance until I was sure that it seemed like she was looking for the same thing I was.
She had been sending me hints. She was the one who clarified that when I asked her to dinner it was a date and said she’d ‘love to go’ with me. She held my hand. She kissed me. I let her control the pace, handed the reins to her so she wouldn’t feel uncomfortable. So what was all of this?
After spending who knows how long getting over my initial shock and I was starting to be able to think a little more clearly, I noticed something a bit odd about the post.
There were pictures.
A picture of us eating dinner, of us holding hands in the park, of our kiss outside her room. Her face was blurred in every one, but of course mine was fully visible for anyone to see. How were there pictures? If there were pictures… Someone had to have followed us. I went over anything else I could remember from last night to see if something stood out. Then I remembered our last exchange.
‘So, could I take you out again sometime?’
‘How about I let you know tomorrow?’
It clicked. She planned this. She planned this from the start. She said that because she knew this post would be on the forum and it would be her answer – a blatantly obvious ‘no way in hell.’ But, why? How?
I scrolled all the way back up the page to look at the username of the person posting. Our usernames were assigned by the school and contained our real names, a measure to prevent us from abusing the forums.
I felt sick all over again when I saw the username NYunhee427.
The room was silent after I finished explaining what had happened last year.
Taehyung was the first to break it. “That is… absolutely disgusting.” He said. “Why would anyone do that?”
I shrugged. “To be honest, I’m not sure why. I mean, I guess I just found out why Eunjung did. Leave it to me to get a crush on a girl who’s homophobic,” I laughed humorlessly. “But as for Yunhee? I still don’t know. When I talked to her, she didn’t give me a reason. She just confessed that after I started talking to Eunjung, she told her about my crush and they decided to start this plan. So from the start, Eunjung purposely pretended like she was interested in order to bait me.”
“It still baffles me,” Jin chimed in. “I don’t agree with her point of view, but I disagree even more with the way she did things. If she wasn’t interested, she should have just told you no and walked away. But to purposely fool you, and then tell everyone that you harassed her when that didn’t happen at all?”
“It’s sick,” Jimin said, his voice muffled from where his head was buried in my hair.
“Oh and another star to go into the inaccuracies column,” I added, “is that I’m not a lesbian, I’m bisexual. Yunhee should have known that, but I don’t know. Maybe she thought me talking about boys before was all fake? Or maybe she figured calling me a lesbian would make a bigger impact.”
“She’s such a royal bitch,” Jimin said, pulling himself away from me for the first time since he sat down. “I still can’t stand that she did that to you.”
“Didn’t anyone question why there were pictures?” Taehyung asked out of nowhere. He must have been thinking about it for a bit.
“Oh yeah, some people noticed that was weird,” I said. “But Yunhee just said that Eunjung told her about what I was ‘doing’ to her and asked her to follow us just in case she needed help.”
“Oh yeah because that makes sense,” Taehyung said. “Her going to your supposed friend for help.”
I shrugged. “People didn’t think that far.”
“And people wouldn’t listen,” Seokjin said. “They believed Yunhee and the post because there was ‘photo proof.’ They didn’t care what we said to tell them it wasn’t true.”
I looked over at Seokjin. “We?”
“Well,” Namjoon said, “I’m sure it’s not really a surprise that it was something the students wouldn’t shut up about for a while. People would say stuff to us or around us and we would voice our oppositions, but they didn’t care. They’d say we were blind and stupid. When in reality, that’s exactly what they were.”
“Thank you,” I found myself saying. “For trying.”
Seokjin offered me a small smile. “I’m sorry I never talked to you before. I saw how others would treat you when they did, and I figured you wouldn’t believe that a stranger was on your side so easily.”
I smiled back. “You’re right, I wouldn’t have believed you. To be honest, I still had trouble believing you guys up until today. I wanted to, but I just had too many bad experiences since that day to fully trust anyone other than Chim. I’ve built up walls, and I don’t know if I can just suddenly take them down, but knowing all this now I can at least say that I’m glad I didn’t push you guys away.”
“Well,” Seokjin said, “if you want those walls broken down, we’d be more than happy to help.”
Seokjin really wasn’t joking. Within the last month, the three of them fully absorbed both me and Jimin into their friend group. Rarely did I eat at the cafeteria without at least two others now, and Jin especially seemed really adamant about bringing me out of my shell.
While all of them were very welcoming and nice, there had really been a huge shift with Seokjin in particular. It wasn’t that he hadn’t been friendly with me before, but ever since everything was laid out on the table there hadn’t been a day where he didn’t at least contact me, if not spent some time with me in person.
Today was no different–yet again, I found myself at Daydream Café. The biggest thing that had kept me away from this place within the last year was the fact that Yunhee and I loved to hang out here together. I had found myself here only one time after everything had happened and I felt lonelier than ever, suddenly having no one to share my time with.
But now things were a bit different. I could still feel the weird looks from other students here and there, but I wasn’t alone. I was with my new friends–a term that I was still getting used to thinking. Taking a sip of my drink, I looked across the table at Seokjin who gave me a smile. Next to him were Hoseok and another friend we had been introduced to, Yoongi. And next to me sat Jimin.
“What was up with that girl sitting with you in the cafeteria earlier today?” Hoseok asked, taking a bite of the pumpkin-flavored desert we were all sharing.
I shrugged. “Who knows. Apparently she’s a freshman and somehow heard that I’m into girls but not about what everyone thinks of me. She was pretending to flirt and be interested.”
“Maybe she actually was interested,” Seokjin said, only half serious.
I laughed. “Yeah, right. After how many girls have come up to me saying, ‘I hear I’m your type. Let’s go on a date,’ in the past year, I can tell when they’re full of shit. And trust me, she was.”
“Good thing she didn’t stick around when we got there, then,” Jimin said.
“She was so unbelievably awkward as soon as you sat down, Jimin,” Hoseok laughed.
I observed as Yoongi smiled softly at Hoseok while he laughed. I couldn’t quite put my finger on what it was, but I felt like there was something there that I was missing.
After Hoseok stopped laughing Yoongi looked at me, raising his eyebrows. “Why do you keep staring like that?”
I felt my cheeks heat up, embarrassed at being caught. “S-Sorry, I don’t mean to be rude.”
“Just go ahead and ask,” Yoongi said.
It was my turn to be curious. “What do you mean? Ask what?”
“I see you trying to figure out what’s going on with me and Hoseok,” he answered.
“Oh!” Hoseok said. “I guess we haven’t mentioned it, huh? Sorry, we’re just kinda used to everyone around us knowing.” Hobi lifted his hand from where it was under the table, showing that it was entwined with Yoongi’s. “Yoongi hyung is my boyfriend,” he said.
“Ah, that makes a lot of sense,” Jimin said. “How long have you two been together?”
“Three and a half years,” Yoongi said casually as he pulled their hands back underneath the table. “We’re not usually very obvious about it.”
“Yeah,” Hoseok said, mouth turning downward a little. “Can’t always be sure how people will react.”
“Don’t I know that all too well,” I said, staring at my drink sitting on the table, and Jimin placed a comforting hand on my back. I felt something brush against my free hand on the table and looked up a little to see Jin gently placing his warm hand on top of mine.
“Well, you don’t need to ever worry about that with us,” Seokjin said, giving a soft smile.
“And for the record,” Hoseok said nervously, “Yoongi and I don’t believe what everyone else says about you, either. Just in case we haven’t made that clear already.”
I felt a smile slowly grow on my lips. “Thank you.”
“Well, I should be getting to class,” Yoongi said, finishing his iced americano and pushing his chair back.
“I’ll walk you, hyung,” Hoseok said, standing up with Yoongi. “We’ll see you guys later!”
As they waked away, Hoseok waving goodbye, I could feel Jimin shifting around next to me.
“And I promised Jungkook I’d give him a call,” Jimin said. For some reason, he kept moving his gaze between me and Seokjin as he talked. “So, I’m going to get going now. Bye!”
Before I could blink, he got up and rushed to the door, leaving just me and Seokjin left at the table.
Jin seemed to be as flustered as me by his sudden exit, taking a moment to register what happened. “Alrighty then,” he finally broke the silence before removing his hand from mine and taking a sip of his tea. “Who’s Jungkook?”
“Oh, he’s Jimin’s best friend from back home,” I said. “He’s younger than Jimin, so he’s still in high school.”
“Ah, okay,” Jin replied before we fell into a bit of silence.
With it now just being the two of us and the comfortable quiet that hung in the air, I started to feel more conscious of the other people around us. Particularly of the next table over where a girl was whispering quite loudly with some choice words to describe me with.
I could tell Jin heard it as well, seeing him instantly tense up. “Why don’t we get going?” he offered, acting nonchalant. I just nodded in response before gathering my things and walking outside into the chilly autumn air.
As soon as we were out the door, Jin started striking up a random conversation with me. He was always doing this. Whenever we’d hear people talking about me or someone would say something to me, he made it a habit to start talking about something else as soon as possible.
I knew he did it to keep my mind off of what was said. By this point, there wasn’t really any more emotions for me to get out or work through with the situation–it had been going on for so long. So instead of going the ‘let’s talk about this’ route, Jin would do what he could to keep my mind off of it as much as possible.
But this time, I just found myself thinking about something else, instead. While Jin was rambling on about something–I think I heard him complaining about something to do with his business management course–I was examining his face, trying to will his inner thoughts and feelings to write themselves on his skin so I could understand him and why he did this.
At some point, he had stopped rambling and turned to me, apparently waiting for me to answer a question I hadn’t heard.
I blinked, refocusing my attention to reality. “Sorry, what was that?” I asked.
Jin gently shook his head. “I know you weren’t listening,” he said, but he didn’t sound accusatory, just understanding. “What’s on your mind, (Y/n)?”
Put on the spot, I wasn’t sure how to voice my thoughts. Seokjin waited patiently while I tried to put them together, and then contemplated if I really should say them out loud.
“You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to,” Jin assured, noticing my hesitance. “But I want you to know that you can trust me. I hope I’ve done enough to prove that to you.”
“You definitely have,” I said, barely audible. “I just… Sorry, I’m having trouble putting my thoughts together.” Jin nodded in understanding, remaining silent while he waited for me to continue. I took a few moments, looking around at the trees colored in reds and yellows while I figured out how to voice my thoughts. “I guess I’m just trying to figure out why you try so hard.”
Jin stopped in his tracks suddenly, eyeing me curiously. “I don’t understand. What do you mean?”
“You’re just always putting such an effort into trying to make me feel comfortable and welcome,” I elaborated. “Even just now, I know you were only talking about random things to keep my mind off of what other people were saying.”
“Well, that’s what friends do, don’t they?” Jin asked, still clearly confused about why I had to point it out. “We are friends, right?”
“Yes. At least, I hope we are,” I answered bashfully. I looked forward as I continued walking. “But I wonder if you do it because you feel some kind of… obligation to be nice to me. Maybe to try to make up for what I’ve been experiencing.”
“(Y/n),” Seokjin said, placing a hand on my shoulder and turning me toward him, making us stop once again. “Is that what it seems like to you?” His voice was gentle and his expression full of concern.
I shrugged, staring at my feet. “I just worry. I told you it would be hard for me to accept all this for a while.”
“Well, let me put your mind at ease,” Jin said, lifting my chin with his forefinger. “As much as I wish you never had to experience everything you’ve gone through the past year, I don’t feel any obligation toward you. Everything I do for you, I do because I consider you my friend and I care about you. If you need me to back off a bit, I will do that for you. But I can’t tell you how much I’ve been enjoying spending time with you this year so far.”
Jin moved the hand on my shoulder to the middle of my back to gently usher me forward and continue on our way, dropping it away once we were walking again. “Every time I spend time with you, I see that wall of yours slowly come down. A little more of your personality, the part of you that you’ve kept hidden from everyone comes out and it makes me so happy to see, and I realize that I really like who you are a little more each time. I know you haven’t shown us the entire real you yet, but I can’t wait for the day that you do.”
Looking at him, I could see him smiling softly and his eyes full of… something. Care? Adoration? Whatever it was, it made his eyes look like they were sparkling and I found myself both wanting to never look away and too embarrassed to keep looking. I managed to give him a smile before ultimately tearing my gaze away with a blush on my cheeks and feeling my heart race. How seeing him like that made me feel was definitely something I wasn’t going to be examining anytime soon.
“Thank you, Jin oppa,” I said, barely above a whisper. “I don’t think I’ve heard anyone say something that sounded that sincere to me in a long time.
We walked the rest of the way back to the dorms in comfortable silence, while I hoped Jin couldn’t tell the battle going on inside my head to keep thoughts that shouldn’t be there out. If I were honest with myself, it wasn’t the first time those kinds of thoughts surfaced in my mind. But I couldn’t let them take hold at all. I’d found new friends, and I wasn’t going to ruin it by letting my heart run off with fantasies at one of the first people to show me kindness like Jin has.
If only that was as easy to control as I wanted it to be.
Seokjin walked me back to my door first and before I could even think about the words, I asked, “Do you want to come in for a little bit?” I internally grimaced at myself for not being able to control my tongue.
Jin however, seemed pleased with my offer when he smiled and said, “Of course.”
This was the first time I had openly invited any of my new friends into my dorm. Luckily, I was a relatively clean person so there weren’t any big messes around for me to fix and he wasn’t going to get an accidental look at my underwear selection.
After taking a quick look around, Jin made himself comfortable on the lone couch in the corner. “You keep your room nice and clean,” he commented, seeming to approve. “I wish you could rub that off on Joon. I’m the only reason our room isn’t a disaster.”
I chuckled as I poured us both some water from the kitchenette. “If you couldn’t get him to be more organized after being with each other for your whole lives, I don’t think I can do much.” I handed him his glass as I sat next to him.
Jin threw his head back when he laughed heartily. “That’s very true.”
I was surprised at how easily the two of us settled into conversation, chatting literally about anything. The nervousness I initially felt when I invited him in without thinking was soon long gone and replaced by a comforting warmth, wrapping around me like a blanket that I never wanted to let go of.
“You’re kidding!” I laughed when Jin recounted the story of when Namjoon found out about Hoseok and Yoongi’s relationship.
“I’m serious!” he said. “He walked into the room and saw them kissing, screamed like a little girl and ran down the hallway, tripping and knocking over this jade statue my mom had. He fell flat on his face and started crying.”
I doubled over sideways onto the couch as I couldn’t stop laughing, holding onto my stomach. “Oh my gosh, he must have been mortified.”
“Oh, he was,” Jin said, having a hard time talking between his own fits of laughter. “So were Hobi and Yoongi. They thought he was uncomfortable about them, but it turned out he was just shocked and utterly embarrassed about catching them. And then even more embarrassed by his fall.”
“That is definitely one way for your friends to find out about your relationship,” I mused as I righted myself and calmed down. I turned to look at Jin, whose gaze was already on me with a bright smile.
“There she is,” he said quietly.
I tilted my head, confused. “What do you mean?”
“The you behind that wall.” Jin reached his hand out to brush back some of my hair that had fallen in my face during my laughing fit and rested it on my cheek. “I’m really happy to see the real you come out like that.”
I felt my face flush while I tried to not smile too much. There was that look in his eyes again–the one that made them sparkle. Something about it was so captivating that I couldn’t look away, and Seokjin didn’t seem to want to break the eye contact anytime soon.
“I don’t want to overstep,” Jin started, seeming to think carefully about each word that left his mouth, “but I also want to be honest with you.” He took in a deep breath before continuing. “(Y/n), I-”
My ringtone rang out into the room, interrupting whatever it was Seokjin was about to say and bursting the bubble that was created around us. With a quiet sigh, Jin dropped his hand away from where it still rested against my cheek.
After shaking off the fuzzy feeling that had invaded my mind, I recognized the song playing as the one I set for Jimin. “Hey Chim, what’s up?” I asked when I answered the call.
“Noona, where are you right now?” he responded, sounding out of breath.
There was an urgency in his voice that made me concerned. “I’m in my room. Why? Is something wrong, Chim?”
“Okay, good,” he said. “Just- just stay there, okay? Don’t go anywhere. I’m on my way.”
“Jimin, what is going on?” I asked again, entirely confused.
“I’ll explain when I get there. Just trust me when I ask you to not leave your room, okay? And don’t go on the school forum or Twitter or anything. I’ll be there in five minutes, tops.”
He hung up the call before I had the chance to ask anything else, leaving me an utterly bewildered mess.
I looked at Jin who, being close enough to have heard the call as well, looked just as confused as me.
“What was that about?” he asked, but it wasn’t really directed towards me.
“I have no idea,” I said, trying to revisit the conversation in my head. “He said he’s on his way here and to… not look at the school forum.”
As soon as the words left my mouth Seokjin was on his phone, most likely doing exactly what Jimin asked me not to. It only took a few moments for his fingers to stop in their tracks, his face looking shocked before quickly changing into anger.
“Yeah, don’t check the school forum, alright,” he mumbled. “What the fuck is this girl’s problem?”
With his reaction, I quickly went to take a look myself. When I made it to the forum, I had no trouble finding the post that Jimin obviously didn’t want me to see. It would have almost felt like déjà vu, if my initial reaction this time hadn’t been to laugh incredulously.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” I said, scoffing.
Sitting prominently on the first page of the forum was a post titled ‘PARK (Y/N) FINDS ANOTHER VICTIM TO PREY ON,’ posted by Yunhee. Skimming through the post, I saw a picture of me and another girl sitting in the cafeteria. I didn’t really care about the contents because I knew it was full of nothing but lies. But looking closely at the picture, I was able to recognize the other girl even though her face was blurred.
“That’s the girl we were talking about earlier,” I told Jin. “The one who sat with me before Jimin and Hoseok got there.”
“Well, that’s just great,” he said, running a hand through his hair and clearly frustrated.
It wasn’t long before there was a knock at my door and I heard Jimin’s voice calling through to let me know it was him.
I got up to open the door and he hurried in, swiftly closing and locking the door behind him. “Noona, you haven’t looked at the forum, have you?” he rushed out.
I showed him my phone which was still in my hand, and he sighed.
“I told you not to look,” he said, concern lacing his features.
“Well,” Seokjin said, making Jimin jump in surprise since he hadn’t noticed him yet, “if you explicitly say, ‘don’t look on the forum,' it kind of makes us curious about what was on the forum.”
“Hyung! I didn’t know you were here.” My brother relaxed a little. “Well at least you weren’t by yourself when you saw it,” he said, looking at me closely. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, Chim,” I answered. “I’m more in disbelief than anything. I don’t get why she’s doing this again.”
“Show me your class schedule,” Jimin said suddenly.
I raised my eyebrows at him. “Why?”
“Because you’re not going anywhere alone,” he said. “I need to know your schedule, and I’m going to talk to our friends and see how we can arrange that.”
I sighed. “Jimin, I told you not to try to be my bodyguard-”
“Yeah, that was before this-” he pointed at his phone, where he had the forum open as well “-happened. Things are a bit different now.”
“How?” I asked. “It’s not like people ever stopped bothering me, and they will keep doing it now.”
“You told me just a few days ago that it’s calmed down a lot since last semester,” Jimin said. “But this post is going to make it worse again, just like when the post last year went up. And I am not letting you go through that alone again.”
Not knowing what to say, I turned to Jin in hopes of some assistance.
“Sorry, (Y/n),” Jin said. “I actually agree with Jimin. That’s probably why she did this. She wants people to start bothering you again. For what reason, I don’t know. But if you think I won’t go out of my way to make sure you have one of us with you as much as possible, then you clearly don’t know how much I care about you.”
I could have sworn I saw a smirk appear on Jimin’s face for a moment, but it was gone so fast I couldn’t tell if I imagined it or not. “Well, that’s settled then. Let’s see if we can get everyone here and come up with a plan.”
I sat down, giving into their insistence. While I had gotten more or less used to everything by now, imagining things going back to being just as bad as they were those first few weeks after the original post made my stomach drop—even more so when I imagined having to go through it on my own again. I knew there wasn’t much I could do, so I figured I should be happy with the fact that I had people to help me this time.
But there was one thing I knew I wanted to do. I needed answers, and I was going to get them one way or another. I needed to talk to Yunhee.
“Noona, I’m not letting you do this alone,” Jimin insisted once again as I walked down the hallway.
“Jimin, I have to,” I responded. “This is something I need to talk to her about on my own. If I bring you in there with me, it’s only going to make it look like I can’t handle it myself.”
It had been four days since Yunhee posted to the forum again and what Jimin expected was exactly what happened. People were so much more vocal about their thoughts about me, not even bothering to whisper their accusations and choice words. Whenever I was alone—which was mostly during classes—it was the worst. But between Jimin, Seokjin, and the others, we were able to work out a way for one of them to walk me between each class and be with me almost all of the time.
Hoseok had also talked his parents into letting me eat at the café for lunch and dinner. They had a private room in the back where they would rest and eat, and his dad was kind enough to make some extra portions for me. They didn’t even need us to explain the situation, having heard gossip from the students who frequented the café. And luckily, they already knew from their son how untrue it all was so they were more than willing to help me out.
I had already known which room in the dorm was Yunhee’s, having visited it many times before, so all I had to do was wait for a time when she was in her room so I could confront her. I knew for sure she was there right now, and I was more than eager to find out what her issue was and try to put a stop to all of this.
I paused in front of her door about to knock, when Jimin grabbed ahold of my arms to stop me again. “Are you sure I can’t come in with you?”
“Please, Chim,” I said. “I want to do this on my own. I need to.”
He sighed and slowly let go of his grip on me. “Alright, fine. But I’m staying right here. You call for me if you need me, understand?”
“I will,” I said, figuring I wouldn’t need him but knew agreeing would put him at ease. “Thank you.” I offered him a smile in gratitude before I took in a breath and finally knocked on her door.
“I know it’s you, (Y/n),” I heard Yunhee call from inside. “I heard you talking.”
“Well, then you know why I’m here,” I said firmly. “And we need to talk. You might want to let me in before I make a scene out here in the hallway.”
There was silence for a few moments before the door clicked as she unlocked it, slowly opening it to allow me in.
After I walked in and she shut the door behind us, Yunhee leaned against it and crossed her arms. “Well?” she asked. “What is it you feel like you need to say.”
I felt anger boiling in my stomach. “You know exactly what I’m here to talk about,” I said, clenching my fists. “You know just as well as I do that everything you posted, the other day and last year, is bullshit.”
Yunhee shrugged. “Well, they’re already out there, so I don’t know what you want me to do.”
“Why would you even post them in the first place?” I asked. “You and Eunjung did enough damage last year, and I know it must have been you who asked that freshman to approach me the other day. Why would you do all of this?!”
Yunhee didn’t answer; she just looked at me with an unreadable expression.
“I haven’t done any of the things that either of those posts claimed, and you damn well know it.” I took in a deep breath to try to calm down a little and gather my thoughts. “I still don’t understand why you started this, Yunhee. I considered you my best friend. When I opened up to you about my orientation, I didn’t think you’d just throw five years-worth of friendship out the window and stab me in the back.”
“Stab you in the back?” Yunhee pushed herself away from the door. “Well, I felt like you stabbed me in the gut. For five whole years you couldn’t tell me that you were into girls?”
“I told you why I didn’t say anything before then. And apparently it was for good reason, seeing how you plotted against me with a homophobe and just tossed me aside when I did!” I rubbed my face with my hands in frustration. “Did I really disgust you that much that you felt all of that was necessary?”
“Disgust?” she asked, walking toward me. “No, (Y/n). You are completely missing the mark here. What happened was that the moment you decided it was appropriate to come out to me, it just had to be when you had found some other random girl—who you hadn’t even talked to at that point, might I add—to fawn over. In all the years I knew you, I never thought that you would have even looked at a girl like that. But you did, and instead of being someone that you knew and who cherished you, it had to be some random chick?!”
“W-What?” I had to run the last sentence she said through my head again to really understand the meaning behind her words. “No way. Were you- were you jealous?”
“Yes, I was jealous!” Yunhee admitted. “Here I was, thinking there was no way you could care about me the way I cared about you, that I was absolutely not your type. But then I found out I was wrong in the same breath that you confessed your crush on some other girl. Of course I'd be jealous!”
Taken aback, I needed a moment to absorb the new information before I could respond. “Well first of all, it's not like you ever told me that you were into girls either-"
“How could I when you were the only girl I had eyes for and I thought it was hopeless?” Yunhee said.
“Okay, I can see your point there,” I said. “But you could have told me after I was open about it! It didn't have to be the same day or even soon after but, Yunhee, there were so many things you could have done instead of letting your jealousy drive me away and make up lies about me!”
“I didn't know what else to do!” She shouted, flailing her arms in the air. “You clearly weren't interested in me like that and I was just so angry.”
“You said you cared about me as more than a friend, but that didn’t stop you from kicking me to the curb and starting all these rumors that not only alienated me but made me look like I was some terrible person when I hadn’t done anything wrong! That doesn’t exactly look like the actions of someone who cares. Did you even feel bad at all?”
“Of course I did,” she almost mumbled. “When I started it, I just wanted you to feel rejected, like how I did. The date and the post were all Eunjung’s idea. I had let Eunjung use my account to post it, and I didn’t know she was going to go that far with it. Once I read through it after it was posted, I felt really bad for what she said about you.”
“Why didn’t you just talk to me, Yunhee?” I asked, finally taking a seat on her couch. “I can understand you feeing jealous, but you didn’t need to let your jealousy govern your actions. I was going to be rejected by Eunjung either way. And I get you wouldn’t have known that, but if you honestly cared about me and considered me your friend, you could have waited. Maybe even opened up about your own preference in the meantime.
“And when I inevitably got hurt by Eunjung, you could have been there for me. Who knows, you might even have been able to get the courage to own up about your own feelings about me too. There are just so many things you could have done better, instead of all of this!”
I took a moment to breathe and collect myself, while Yunhee remained silent. She was still standing in the middle of the room staring at the ground, at least having the decency to look a little ashamed.
“And what about this new post?” I asked. “If what you said is all true it doesn’t make sense why you would do that again.” When she still remained silent, I took the time to think about it. The only encounter I had with her recently was the day in the park, before Seokjin and Namjoon told me what they knew and I told the story to Taehyung. Maybe… “Don’t tell me you got jealous again.” I guessed. “That I had found new friends.”
Yunhee turned away from me, seeming to refuse to answer. But that was all the answer I needed.
“You did!” I said. “What the hell, Yunhee?!”
“What?” she finally responded, whipping back around and anger lighting her expression. “I was supposed to be happy that you found some new people to be friends with? That I didn’t seem to matter to you anymore?”
I scoffed. “Oh, and I was just supposed to forget about everything you had done to me and come crawling back to you saying, ‘Oh Yunhee, I miss you. I forgive you, please be my friend again’? Why the hell would I do that?! You completely betrayed any trust I had in you. I didn’t know that the worst part was all Eunjung’s idea, so I’ll give you that. But what’s even worse is that you let her go along with it, and afterwards you didn’t say anything!
“You didn’t tell me that that part was all her and you didn’t know she’d say that. You never came to me to apologize or try to make amends. I wasn’t the one who needed to reach out here, Yunhee. It was you. I don’t know if you still feel like your reasons justified their actions, but let me tell you as the one who get the shit end of the stick, they didn’t.”
We were both silent for a few moments while she took in my words and I calmed down a bit. When I spoke again, my voice was much more relaxed. “If you were hoping for us to be friends again, you should have apologized. You should have told me everything you did just now, not because I dragged it out of you but in an effort to be honest and ask for a second chance. But if you were looking for one, that chance is now completely blown.”
She lifted her gaze from the floor, all the fire in her eyes gone. “I’m sorry,” she said so quietly I almost didn’t hear her.
“It’s too late to apologize to me now,” I said. “But I hope you will do better in the future. I don’t wish bad things on you, Yunhee. I just can’t forgive you for what you’ve done.” I sighed as I stood up to leave. “Thank you for finally being honest with me at least.”
Yunhee made no move to say anything else or stop me as I opened her door and left. As soon as the door to her room was closed again, Jimin wrapped me in a tight hug. I had no doubt he was able to hear almost everything that was said with how thin the walls here were.
“You did well, noona,” he said, giving me a kiss on the crown of my head. “I’m proud of you.”
The next day was luckily the weekend, and I wasn’t surprised at all to receive a text from Jin asking if he could stop by. Jimin had been the one to let the others know about my conversation with Yunhee, which I really appreciated. I needed some time to recover yesterday after what I had learned.
As for how people were treating me, I was clueless on what to do. As wrong as what she and Eunjung had done was, I wasn’t about to go telling the whole student body Yunhee’s secrets. Her sexual orientation, her personal thoughts and feelings, those were all her own business to tell. That luxury was taken away from me, and I knew that I didn’t want to do the same to anyone else.
Not to mention, I doubted anyone would even believe me anyway.
A light knock on my door sounded while I was eating my cereal. I opened it to let Seokjin in, and he followed me back to the kitchenette.
“How are you doing?” He gently asked.
I shrugged. “I’m fine. To be honest, I’m glad I have answers now. I’m no less upset with her but at least I know why she did it, even if it wasn’t right.”
Seokjin’s gaze when our eyes connected was so soft, it almost made me feel like I could melt. “I can’t imagine how hard all of this has been for you,” he said.
“I just wish she would have thought to react differently,” I said. “None of this would have happened if she just didn’t act on jealousy.” I sighed, briefly imagining how things could have been different. “But then again, I may not have become friends with you guys if none of this happened.”
“I’m sure that’s not true,” Jin said, taking a seat across from me. “Our brothers still would have met and would have inevitably gotten us to mingle.”
“We probably would have just been acquaintances,” I pointed out.
Seokjin chuckled. “Would going through everything the past year really have been worth it, though? Only to become friends with us?”
I honestly thought about the answer to that while I finished my breakfast. I spent a lot of time building up walls, being alienated and ridiculed. It hadn’t been easy at all to get through, and it still wasn’t. But if all of that was a dark tunnel, then the light at the end would’ve had to be the new friendships I made, especially with the man sitting across from me right now.
“Yes,” I decided. My eyes met Seokjin’s, and I could see the bit of surprise in them from my answer. “Even if the only way for me to have become friends with you was to go through that shitshow, I would do it all over again.”
There it was again, that sparkly look in his eyes. A wide smile slowly grew on his face. “You amaze me, (Y/n). Do you know that?”
“There’s nothing ‘amazing’ about me, oppa,” I said.
“You are amazing,” he countered. “Not everyone would have the strength to do what you did yesterday. Or to get through the last year as well as you have. You’re so much more than you give yourself credit for.”
Finding myself blushing at his words, I decided it was a good time to rinse out my bowl so he hopefully wouldn’t notice.
Once I was done I made my way to the couch, Seokjin following behind me. I sat down, but he remained standing close by for a moment, seeming deep in thought.
“Do you remember how I was about to tell you something the other day?” he suddenly asked. “Before Jimin called you.”
I racked my brain, pulling out the memory—mostly about how intensely he had been staring at me and how fast it made my heart beat. I cleared my throat before saying, “Yeah, I remember.”
“I think now it’s even more important for me to be honest with you,” Jin said. “And I think I know you well enough to tell, but I just want to make sure first. You’re not feeling emotionally vulnerable right now, right? I know that yesterday was a lot for you to take in, but you seem to be doing well today.”
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, wondering what this was about. “I mean, yeah. I’m not like in shock or dazed or feeling particularly vulnerable or anything. Why?”
“Because what I have to tell you is important but I want to be sure that whatever you have to say in response is honest and comes from your heart,” he said.
“Is something wrong?” I asked, becoming worried. “Did I-”
“No, absolutely not,” Jin assured me, gently smiling. “Nothing is wrong.”
I nodded in understanding, but didn’t say anything as I waited for him to continue.
Jin took in a deep breath before sitting next to me and gently taking my hand in his. “I told you the other day about how the more I get to see who you are beyond your wall, the more I realize how much I like you. I wasn’t exaggerating at all, (Y/n). I didn’t realize it at first, but my feelings toward you started to become less and less platonic the more I got to know you. And before I knew it, I started to really like you. Not just as a friend, but as something more.”
I felt my heart pounding in my chest. So that’s what that sparkle in his eyes was—the same one that prominently shined in his earnest gaze now. Butterflies had completely swarmed my stomach, making me almost feel dizzy from his confession. I could hardly believe it. After I had worked so hard to try to keep those same thoughts and feelings from taking root in my own heart, he had felt that way all along?
“I don’t expect you to feel anything more than friendship toward me,” he continued, “but I just feel like I need to be completely honest with you. I can continue to just be your friend, but I don’t want any secre-”
I couldn’t stop myself from closing the distance between us and placing my lips on his. I felt him hesitate, probably shocked at my actions, but he quickly relaxed into it and returned the kiss. Despite not letting go, neither of us made any move to deepen the kiss, keeping it soft and light.
Eventually, I pulled away just slightly and slowly opened my eyes. “You have no idea how I’ve been internally battling myself to not fall for you, oppa.” I spoke barely above a whisper, knowing he’d be able to hear me with how close our faces still were. “I was scared that I was looking too deeply into things and didn’t want to ruin the best thing that had happened to me in so long.”
“Oh, thank god,” Seokjin said, looking relieved. “I was worrying about it so much, especially after learning how Yunhee had kept her feelings a secret and I was scared that if I didn’t tell you and you eventually found out about it later then it’d cause problems between us. But then I was so scared about telling you because we haven’t known each other very long and what if you didn’t feel the same and-”
I cut off his rambling with a peck to his lips before chuckling. “Well now you know you don’t need to worry about any of that.” I pulled away to look at him, feeling practically giddy now that I let myself feel everything I had been holding back before.
He smiled, leaning forward a bit to let our foreheads touch. “I guess I don’t, huh?” he mused.
“Thank you for telling me,” I said. “I mean I’m glad that we were actually on the same page, but even if I somehow managed to not develop feelings for you, I would have really appreciated the honesty.”
“Of course,” he replied as he brushed a strand of hair behind my ear. He leaned in to connect our lips once again and I let myself get lost in the feeling of our mouths moving together, exploring each other for the first time.
Time had fallen away. It felt like only seconds had passed, but at the same time it felt like it could have been years that we spent connected at the lips. Tentative and careful touches started to grow more confident and certain until I was practically sitting in Jin’s lap, feeling lightheaded and out of breath.
And then my phone started ringing. Jin groaned in frustration as he broke our kiss, catching his breath. “That’s Jimin’s ringtone isn’t it?” he asked.
I was still too out of it to use my voice so I just nodded, planning on ignoring it as I trailed my lips from his jaw down his neck, not wanting to separate from him yet.
Seokjin didn’t seem fully opposed to that idea either as I let the phone ring until it went to voicemail. But it was only a few seconds later when it rang once more.
Sighing, Seokjin gently pushed me away from him. “I think you’d better answer that, babe. He probably isn’t going to stop calling.”
Despite what we were just doing, I blushed at how casually he used the pet name with me. Realizing he was probably right, I got up to retrieve my phone from the nightstand, answering just before it would have gone to voicemail.
“Yes, Jimin?” I asked, trying my best to not sound out of breath.
“Noona!” he yelled. “What took you so long to answer?”
I walked back to the couch and Jin wrapped his arms around my waist as I sat down, resting his head on my shoulder. “I was… busy.” I heard Jin snicker next to my ear. “Do you need something?”
“Check the school forum!” Jimin replied.
“The school- but why? I asked.
“Just trust me,” he said. “There’s something there you need to see. I’ll be at your room in like ten minutes, so please make sure both of you are decent before I get there.”
I spluttered, wondering if he had some secret cameras set up in my room or something. “Wha-what are you talking about?” I managed to get out.
Jimin laughed on the other end of the phone. “I knew Jin hyung was coming to see you, and you were just vaguely and suspiciously saying you took so long to answer the phone because you were busy? Come on, noona, I wasn’t born yesterday.”
“We were not doing anything inappropriate!” I said.
“Yeah, we were just making out,” Jin added cheekily, earning a smack on the arm from me.
My brother laughed even harder. “I knew it!” He took a moment to calm down before saying, “Anyway, I really am going to head over. Check the forum, trust me. I’ll see you soon!” Jimin hung up swiftly.
“Alright, I guess we should check the forum this time,” I said as I navigated my way there on my phone.
The top post today yet again had my name in the title and was posted by Yunhee, but seemed vastly different from the previous ones. I clicked on the post titled ‘THE TRUTH ABOUT PARK (Y/N),’ finding myself completely shocked at what was inside.
Yunhee confessed every lie she told. Everything that was fabricated, even to the point of exposing that it was Eunjung who went on the date with me last year and lied about our interactions. She even admitted her reasoning on why she did it, saying that it wasn’t right for them to expose my sexuality to the whole school like that and that it was only fair that she exposed herself for what they had done.
My jaw dropped to the floor at the text displayed on my phone screen. “I can’t believe this,” I said, voice barely audible. “Did she seriously do this?”
“Unless we’re both hallucinating, she most definitely did,” Seokjin said, tightening his hold on me. When he placed a light kiss on my temple, I could feel the slight smile on his lips. “She may know she can’t take back what she had done and that you won’t forgive her, but she’s trying to make things right for you.”
“Yeah, I guess she is.” I surveyed the comments underneath where students expressed their outrage at Yunhee and how sorry they felt for criminalizing me over false rumors. “But now she’s going to be the one with fingers pointed at her and whispers behind her back.”
“She must have known that,” Jin said. “She knew it would be a price she had to pay for what she had done.”
I locked my screen and settled back into Seokjin’s embrace, feeling like an immense weight had just lifted off of my shoulders. I wouldn’t have to worry about facing my peers anymore. I could go outside, unconcerned of what people would say about me.
And best of all, I had people I cared about and who cared bout me to spend my suddenly new free time with. I had Seokjin.
After a few moments of relishing in the calm silence, Seokjin spoke. “So now that we’ve more than established how we feel about each other, and know that we can hang out without people bothering us, can I take you on a date?”
I smiled up at him before placing a quick peck on his lips. “I would love that.”
A/N - My first one-shot! I originally thought this would be about 10k but I ended up almost doubling that.. oops lol. I enjoyed writing it and I hope you guys like it as much as I do! Let me know what you think!

Pillars x Modern reader? Please if it alright with you
hi!! i was going to say no tbh bc my rules say only two charas max but,, i'll let it slide i guess lmao
modern! pillars x reader!hcs:
himejima gyoumei:
okay so like,, in a modern au i like to imagine that gyoumei would be a sculptor hehe (yes, i know, not v original).
and you a painter!!
and like,, the two of you are secret admirers of one another
like he would often see you at the art gallery he frequents just staring at his sculptures & just,,, looking at them w pure awe?
which he finds so heartwarming & makes him super motivated & happy in what he does!!
and at art auctions when he buys your paintings? you feel like fainting from happiness bc the guy you admire so much BUYS YOUR PAINTINGS?!?!
so then one day the two of you just,, bumped into each other coincidentally while at the art gallery the two of you go to often
the two of you chat comfortably before asking for one another's numbers & discuss about a potential coffee date!!
and so, after that & a couple more dates, the two of you became official!!
iguro obanai:
hmm i feel like snek boi would be a tattoo artist
you a florist (FUCK i hate my unoriginal ideas)
your shops are right beside each other's haha
you sometimes talked but it was only about small awkward things like the weather BYE
but then one day you got locked out of your shop oops
so you,, sort of stayed w/ obanai in his shop until the person you called to help came
which he didn't mind at all btw
surprisingly, the two of you got along really well? not to mention you guys liked a lot of the same things & had similar hobbies??
from then on the two of you were kinda Whipped™™™™™ for each other lmaoo,, you often went to each other's shops when you guys didn't have any customers/had a slow day
so then you decided to confess and!! he accepted your feelings & said he felt the same way!! (screams) & ever since then the two of you began to date uwu
rengoku kyoujurou:
okay so kyoujurou in the kimetsu academy au is a history teacher, right?
and you are the english teacher!!
honestly the entire school love the two of you so much
and they even ship the two of you super hard\ but!! the thing is? the two of you are already dating, haha~ the students just don't know that yet
so it's hella amusing when the two of you witness them trying to set the two of you up with one another
so you and kyoujurou had a mutual agreement to just act innocent and go along w what they do (which the students totally fall for)
until one day you accidentally let it slip (whoops)
"hi guys, sorry for being late, kyoujurou won't be here today 'cause he's sick and i had to take care of him for a bit—oops did i just spill everything?"
from then on the entire school knew the two of you were dating (and thank god, bc now you guys could be affectionate in public lmaoooo)
tokitou muichirou:
muichirou would be like that quiet, asocial first year *wheeze*
& like...there's tons of rumors of him being rude n closed off to others that try to be friends w him
n you're like!! haha!! fuck those rumors i want to be friends w him!! (plus he's cute wink wink)
so, you try to approach him by sitting in front of his desk during lunch, or talk to him front time to time in your close (surprise!! the two of you are in the same class)
he ignores you tbh & even tries to push you away,,, but you're super persistent (in an annoyingly,, cute way?)
but like one day, you're absent from class two days in a row, and he's like,, fuck?? is it my fault??? did i do something to them?? is (name) not here bc of me?? i miss (name) surprisingly a lot and idk why???
and like for the two days he feels like he's fuckin hallucinating or some shit bc he always turns his head to the direction he expects you to be, or like hears your voice even if you're not there?
but then you came after those two days, and he immediately comes up to you and questions you as to why you were absent
you just laugh and smile, telling him that you were sick (& tease him too) which he gets really flustered at and even blushes bc he missed you a lot bye
so then he confesses to you, and tells you that even if it was two days, it felt like forever and he just really missed you and wanted you to be by his side?? and you found that hella cute (also bc of his blushing face) so like uh,, ever since then the two of you started to date
tomioka giyuu:
kimetsu academy au where he's the gym teacher (duh it's canon) & ur the assistant nurse of tamayo uwu
you often supervise whenever giyuu has a class bc you know how rough he can be,, so you're just there in case anything happens
cue the students being in love w you bc you're the literal opposite of giyuu
cue the students lowkey shipping the two of you too (& the two of you are HELLA oblivious about about, too)
you like to chat w him sometimes, even if you're the one who's doing most of the talking
despite his rough nature you actually find him really cute and like??? attractive
and giyuu?? is naturally attracted to you too?? but then one day a student fight breaks out and while giyuu tries to stop it he ends up getting injured
so you, of course, treat him the best you can—tending to the bruises on his face & the cuts on his arms & legs,, and like your touch is so fucking good and gentle and like??? bitch is about to melt too
he ends up telling you that he likes you,, and you're shocked bc omg?? the guy i like just confessed & asked me out (btw u said yes haha)
uzui tengen:
aight so spy!au where he is sent to spy on you bc you're under suspicion working under an illegal organization (wait this counts as a modern au right? yeah anyways,,)
he moves in to the apartment right across from you as your new "neighbor"
he also works as the cashier at the bakery you work at too!!
bc of that, naturally, the two of you got close
you thought he was v attractive and funny lmao,, you especially found his "flamboyant" catch phrase hella endearing too
and tengen was like: fUCK NO I CANT FALL IN LOVE W YOU YOU'RE MY MISSION!!
yeah right lmao bc he did end up falling in love w you. so he even asked you out (which ofc you said yes?? like bro tengen is literally the person of you're dreams)
but he reminded himself that he still had a mission to do, so he used it the fact that the two of you were dating to his advantage to find more about you (aka snooping)
you didn't really mind that + the fact that he asked lots of questions about you
but once he found out that you were completely clear, he was?? highkey happy and relieved, so he could date you comfortably without being paranoid lmao
kanroji mitsuri:
idol! mitsuri and manager! reader au hehe
honestly you have been w mitsuri ever since she debuted
you watched her grow as both a singer and as a person—you saw all the sides of her personality, habits, flaws, etc; which honestly? made you fall in love w her
however, you kept your feelings a secret bc you didn't want anybody to find out plus ruin mitsuri's reputation?
like okay you get fired but you don't want to hurt mitsuri or the years of hard work to be destroyed
but it's so fuckin hard you know? bc she's super affectionate w you, and you're over here trying to keep your feelings in?
so eventually you just,,, confess to her—all the feelings you had pent up just finally spill out
unexpectedly?? she says she feels the same way?? but she's been in love w you ever since she first laid eyes on you??
so lmao you keep your relationship a secret, even from the agency you work at lmao
despite the hardships that you guys often face, you get through them together and the two of you couldn't be anymore happier w one another??
kochou shinobu:
roommates au in which the two of you are college students
shinobu a pharmacology major & you in toxicology!!
bc of you living together and even sharing some classes, the two of you spend a lot of time w each other
you guys have plenty of study dates too haha
and cute stuff like night outs or movies nights!!!
honestly the more time you spend w her, the more time you?? fall in love shinobu. like. head over heels for her.
and shinobu's like??? I FEEL REALLY NICE AND FUZZY AROUND YOU (in her brain, though)
so the two of you end up confessing at the same time during movie night bc the movie reminded the two of you of each other a lot?? uh??
when the two of you realize what you said two each other, the two of you laugh it off and just? begin dating
nothing really changes tbh!! just more affection, dates, spending time w each other, and being more intimate ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
shinazugawa sanemi:
bodyguard au :D in which sanemi is your newly appointed bodyguard and you're a millionaire that needs to be protected
honestly he thought you'd be snobby as fuck considering that's how rich people usually are in his eyes
but?? you're really freakin chill and cool?? not like he'd admit that aloud lmaoo
you like to tease him a lot bc he's so uptight w you, but apologize & give him ohagi (which he really fuckin loves?? Uh??)
you always try to convince him to play video games w you lmaoo esp mario kart (he declines though *eyeroll emoji*)
since he's almost always serious around you, when you find him tending to your dogs and being so soft around them you're like?? fuck?? my heart??
so basically the two of u dumbasses have feelings for each other but are oblivious + don't want to confess,,, like the more time you spend w one another the more you fall in love?
and he absolutely just,, loves it when you visit orphanages and help w the kids and the way you treat them is so sweet?
yeah. he's so in love.
but it wasn't until you ended up in a life-threatening situation that he actually confessed to you—which, as serious as the moment was, you cracked a joke and accepted his feelings.

Part two of the fantasy-royalty AU because yes, I have indeed fallen down a rabbit hole of this and I’m now way way way too emotionally invested in this, please deal with me for the next few, well, let’s see how long this obsessions lasts but this is mostly going to be exactly what happens after they get there
- Akaashi is the oldest prince and most likely to succeed the throne
- Bokuto is his energetic bodyguard-knight who’s incredibly talented, hardworking, passionate and painfully pining over the prince
- Karasuno gang first meets the two of them and every other important person at the welcome dinner, it’s a small thing, just the royal family and the Karasuno gang (I’ll just be referring to all of them ad that now) meeting up with the preparation for it being as chaotic as you can imagine
- They’re first greeted and given a welcome tour around the palace by Yachi, who’s the princess though she certainly doesn’t act like one (her bodyguard’s Kiyoko, I initially forgot to give a bodyguard but well, since she’s a princess it doesn’t really make sense for her to not have a bodyguard. And I ended up going with Kiyoko cause it didn’t really make sense for anyone else and I felt like it kinda fits)
- More on her though, she studies magic under Shimada, illusion magic to be specific
- That’s how she met Yamaguchi (she has more proper and set classes at fixed timings and stuff while Yams more of just follows Shimada around and helps out and picks stuff up like that, they have classes after each day at night though but they’re a lot less fixed and set and stuff) and they sorta just met through magic and Shimada and hit it off quite well and became rather good friends
- The welcome tour turns out surprisingly uneventful given the Karasuno gang. Well, somewhat. Suga exchanges some small talk with Yachi, Suga and Kiyoko keep Yachi blissfully unaware of the chaos going on behind her, Kagehina bicker, Daichi is dragged in more times than he should be, Tsukishima makes very unhelpful and most certainly not asked for side comments that add to the chaos but otherwise remains amused and quiet, it eventually gets boring for him and he literally straight up tells them to their face that “you’re getting boring. If you guys are going to bicker, at least make it entertaining for the rest of us. A little worried you’re losing your entertainment value now” (cursing and yelling and a “we’re not the court jesters!” “Pft, are you sure? You certainly act like them”)
- But anyway the tour ends with Yachi telling them that they’ll have clothes for the welcome dinner specially brought up for them that was provided by Fukurodani (yes I’ve finally decided to name them, yeah it’s not very original but it works?) for them to wear to the dinner and that it’s rather fashionable amongst the Fukurodani nobles (to give a sense of the time, it’s around 1-2 pm and the dinner will begin at 7)
- They return to their chambers and off their separate ways though Daisuga ask for them to go to Suga’s room two hours before the dinner to prepare
- Kageyama goes to take a nap, Hinata goes to wander around the town, Suga writes a letter back to the kingdom, Daichi’s there with Suga and Tsukishima disappears off to god knows where
- Two hours later, a groggy Kageyama appears in Suga’s room. Half an hour later, Hinata appears after having gotten lost in town and Tsukishima remains absent. They basically go through proper etiquette, politeness, all that stuff and well, given Hinata’s never actually learnt all that stuff, it’s... an interesting process
- They try to teach our dear Kageyama how to smile and even a royalty-fantasy AU cannot change the fact that Kageyama is not good at smiling
- Tsukishima finally appears to prepare like half an hour before the event, after low key having given Daichi a heart attack because he was more concerned about it then Suga was (he knows enough about the prince to know that he wouldn’t ditch entirely and that he’d show up on time or at least be able to attend the event on time and in proper attire) and he actually doesn’t need the etiquette lessons since he has actually retained them in his brain, he just makes a very conscious decision to not use them around Kageyama (he also says this to his face)
- There’s practically chaos up until the minute they decide to finally leave
- They meet Bokuaka at the dinner and Bokuto immediately clicks with Hinata, yeah Hinata’s lessons all went flying out his brain the moment he met Bokuto
- The dinner is generally a rather formal event but nothing really important is discussed and it’s more of a introduction for both of them since this is the first time Fukurodani and Karasuno have set down to discuss and talk about an alliance and what not since the one generations ago talking about how the two parties weren’t going to fight against each other. Basically, this whole trip is about a cultural exchange and forming good nation relationships and they’ll be sorting through a ton of important things when starting to form a good relationship too
- The plan is for them to stay there for six months at least
- Okay this dinner is honestly just a welcome dinner and to get to sort of know each other
- The dinner ends with the promise to well, discuss business the next day
- A couple of things happen that night though
- Daichi and Suga sit down to kinda talk and Suga confesses that he’s worried and stuff and Daichi says that he can’t promise that everything will turn out alright but he can promise that he’ll be there for him (okay apparently I’m good at thinking up sappy stuff) and all that stuff and they talk more and they both end up falling asleep in Suga’s bed (they’re not romantically together in here, not yet at least)
- Yachi and Yamaguchi meet after the dinner in the owlery and they kinda talk and feed the owls snacks (and Bokuto is still wondering why his favourite owls are growing fatter) (side note, they get fed way too many snacks)
- Kagehina end up accidentally arranging for them to go to town the next day (Kageyama made a snide comment on how Hinata was late because he got lost and Hinata said that he wouldn’t fare much better either (in terms of not getting lost) and it basically ended in them agreeing to go to the town together the next day
- Bokuaka kinda talk to each about the Karasuno gang and their impressions of them while Akaashi writes and Bokuto feeds the ducks (they’re by the pond) and Bokuto gets Akaashi to feed the ducks too before he walks him back to his room
Okay yeah, I think this definitely goes without saying, this is most definitely getting more parts. (Again, I am way too deep in at this point) I’m actually resisting the urge to write a whole fic from this and I’m really surprised people like this au! Thank you so much to everyone who said you liked it!! It’s really nice to hear that (it really made me happy to see that you guys liked it so thanks!) and I hope this part 2 isn’t too disappointing (I wanted to add Bokuto in for the canon Bokuto and Hinata relationship) and that you hopefully liked this one too! Also, @kpop-kk (you asked me to tag you if I made a part two so here it is!) thanks again and I’ll probably be working on a part 3 too but feel free to send in any asks about this AU I have gotten too emotionally attached in the meantime! Have a nice day!

WIP Folder Game
Rules: post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Send me an ask with the title that most intrigues you and interests you and I’ll post a little snippet of it or tell you something about it! ← part of my trick or treat now :D
Thank you so much for the tag, @eowima! You know, I think we should officially update you to the role of clairvoyant or something, lmao, because you won’t believe how well this fits into my ~master plan.~ (I’ll explain in a second, lol.)
But before I start, um... letmeapologiseinadvancefortheshitshowthatisabouttofollow. My WIPs folder is, er, simply put, a mess. Chaos. A nightmare.
I have an explanation!! I’ve always loved fanfiction and fandoms, and I’ve spent many happy years reading other people’s things - but I’ve never actually been inspired to create something myself. I don’t know, I always had tremendous respect for the creators who were already out there, but I never felt the inclination to join them, you know?
Then I started watching AoS this lockdown, and... well, let’s just say that everything changed. For the first time ever, I woke up in the middle of the night and I had a fic idea, one that was demanding to be written down if I ever wanted to sleep a wink again.
And the more I got into the fandom, the more the fic ideas kept coming, until there was a point where I couldn’t read or watch anything without thinking, “ooh, AoS AU!!” So... into the WIPs folder it went. And as you can well imagine, there’s a lot there now. Like, a lot.
Fitzsimmons was the ship that gave me my first fic idea, so of course there’s stuff for them. Then Huntingbird is the ship that actually pulled me completely and wholeheartedly into the fic verse. And then, of course, Staticquake, the ship that actually got me past my but I’m not good enough fears and, er, got me completely obsessed. I am still not over that.
And last but definitely not least - and, actually, you’re to thank for this, Océane, because it’s your fic that got me hooked on these two awkwardorable idiots - my brain decided that, you know what, if I’m going to write now anyway, I want to do Spideychelle.
So that’s the (long) story of me and my chaotic WIPs folder, and now with no further ado, I’m going to jump right in and give you a list of titles. *coughs* I am, however, going to put a cut here, because... well, you’ll see why. *cringes*

Foolish Love, Fake Love (Part 7)
pairing: idol!Jungkook x bodyguard!reader
word count: ~2,900
genre: idol!au; angst; romance; drama; enemies to lovers sort of thing
warnings: none
previous part: Prologue | Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6
summary: If all you can give me is a fake love, then I will be the fool to pretend that it is all true.
Taglist: @a-hopelessly-imaginative-girl @dollwithluv @sweetcheeksdna @yeontanie21 @peachygiraffe14 @jeontaes-world
“Aigoo, when are you ever going to find a boyfriend at this rate... all the guys will be so scared after they see how you fangirl over this cook guy,” Ssamchun was this naggy even when he was younger.
“It’s ‘Jungkook’, Ssamchun,” you glared at him while Yuri laughed silently.
“What are you laughing at?” you suddenly diverted your annoyance jokingly towards Yuri.
“Nothing... really... just wondering how you can be so invested in a guy who doesn’t even know you exist,” she replied.
It had been more than a year since Yuri had joined the mixed martial arts school and it was natural that you two were growing increasingly reliant on each other given that most of the other people here were male.
“It’s called true love, it’s real alright?” you retorted, gesturing at her to get ready to be taken down by you.
“How can it be true love, when you don’t even know the real him? What if he’s super weird in real life? Or maybe he’s super snobbish... I mean he’s a celebrity after all...” Yuri was not planning to run away from a sparring session but she found the need to defend her position.
You never really bothered to refute that point whenever Yuri makes it, and you never would have imagined that his conversation would actually be relevant one day.
---
“Were you... one of them?” Jungkook’s voice trails off as he popped the question hesitantly.
There was no answer and the air was brimming with awkward energy.
“I guess... I was a fan after all,” you answered weakly.
He felt strangely affected by your use of the past tense.
“I guess this is why we always have to keep up an image... once people know the real us, they will just stop supporting us,” he murmurs as he turns to exit the room and once again, he was strangely affected when you said nothing to stop him.
---
The company told you to rest at home the next day but somehow you found yourself back at the company close to evening time, after having spent the day doing nothing much.
You were just about to change into your exercise attire but decided to sit down on the chair in the changing room and thought about the conversation you had with Jungkook yesterday.
There is just something really pitiful about it. Who is he in the end? What the company wants him to be? What the fans want him to be? What he wants himself to be? What is the real Jungkook like, does he even know?
Everyone goes through this at some point; some may never find the answer. Who are we really? What are we living for? And in turn, what can we be happy for? Only when we know what we want to become, can we be truly happy when we achieve it.
But for him... he probably has a lot to live up to, benchmarks that may not be what he wanted in the first place.
You took out your phone to send a message to him only to stop at the first word because you have no idea where to start. That was when you were reminded of the song that comforted you years back.
You searched it up online and just as you had hit the send button, there was a knock on the door. When you opened the door you could see a frowning Yuri looking at Sejoon.
“Can’t you just give her a break today? She just came to have dinner with me...” Yuri huffed.
“It’s not that I don’t want to give her a break though...” Sejoon answers helplessly.
“What is it?” you asked.
---
The last thing you expected to happen was you sitting in a private room of a traditional but fancy sashimi restaurant across from Sejoon and Kijin – mainly due to the fact that you don’t even fancy sashimi.
“Sometimes I really want to slap some sense into him. It's been getting worse lately, he gets so sensitive whenever I ask why he’s doing all this for Yeonjoo” Sejoon suddenly lowered his volume as he spoke about the very two people who were sitting in the private room next to yours.
Apparently, it was close to Yeonjoo’s birthday and this is a restaurant that she had wanted to visit for the longest time, which explains the need for you to be a decoy. Sejoon and you had to be really obvious when entering the restaurant, while Jungkook came later. On top of all that you heard that Yeonjoo had to really discreetly enter from the back of the restaurant.
“I suppose this is another undercover operation? Aren't you afraid Director Lee would find out about this?” you were worried for Sejoon but equally so for yourself.
Sejoon and Kijin both look up at you in surprise, “It was Director Lee who made the reservation, you didn’t know that?” Kijin blurted.
“Oh really?” you tried to contain your surprise while glancing towards Sejoon.
He seemed more interested in the intricately-plated sashimi platter that was just served.
“... so, Director Lee is now OK with Jungkook meeting her in private?” you could not keep the curiosity in and had to ask.
“Of course not. And it’s not even something I can fight for since Jungkook that brat wouldn’t even confirm if they are really together or not” Sejoon replied through a mouthful of raw fish.
“Then what’s going on here?” you frowned from the confusion.
“That jewellery store wanted him to do photoshoot with you but he wouldn’t do it... so Director Lee bribed him with one favour and this is what he asked her for... to give permission for...” Sejoon answers, at first matter-of-factly, but quickly ended the topic as he realises what this meant to you.
So this was why he willingly did the photoshoot; it was weird that there wasn’t much protesting on that day given how much he must have hated the idea of taking “couple photos” with you. You were lost in all these thoughts and did not notice Sejoon clearing his throat awkwardly.
“Are you... are you not going to have some?” he quickly tried to change the topic, hoping to distract you.
“I don’t really like raw stuff” you answered curtly, only belatedly feeling sorry to Sejoon for being somewhat rude to him for no reason.
“Oh, I guess Jungkook just ordered the same set for both rooms. Let me go get the menu and order something else for you...” Sejoon fumbled to get out from his seat.
“It’s ok oppa, I’m not that hungry anyway” you replied with a customary smile this time.
---
Kijin and Sejoon had no problems finishing the whole platter of sashimi on their own and giving you a rundown of the best types of sashimi during the different seasons when someone barges into the room. It was Jungkook.
“Hyung!” Jungkook called out. Sejoon naturally responded but Jungkook looks past him to Yeonjoo’s manager instead, “Not you Hyung... Kijin Hyung... Did Yeonjoo’s sasaeng appear again?”
Kijin looked visibly tensed when the question was asked and there was a long pause before he answered, “It was quiet for a while, but after your scandal with her, it started again.”
Yeonjoo was now in the room too, telling Jungkook that it is nothing and that there was no need for him to worry so much.
“Maybe you should hire bodyguards for her too...” Jungkook nagged at Kijin.
“Hey Jeon Jungkook, we are working on that, we already have a few lined up, but we are just clearing background checks before we can officially use them... so stop saying these obvious things...” Kijin was his usual annoyed self.
“Kijin Oppa,” Yeonjoo started to say something, “I wanted to use the washroom and they said it’s across the garden, can you come along?”
“What? The washroom is outside?” Kijin responded exasperatedly and was cursing under his breath.
“I can take you there” Jungkook quickly volunteered.
“Haha, that would be weird...” Yeonjoo laughed, “and we can’t be caught together again.”
Jungkook wanted to rebut that, but he really couldn’t. The deal with Director Lee was clear – even if they were seen to be in the same restaurant today, the official story would be that he was here with you and Yeonjoo to celebrate her birthday, he can’t be captured alone with her... but what about you?
“Wait... Y/N... why don’t you go with her?” Jungkook suddenly suggested.
Your eyes widened and you were about to protest but Kijin has latched onto the idea, “Oh... oh oh, yeah since you are here... just go with her quickly and come back.”
You looked towards Sejoon for some back up but you knew it was already a closed case, so when he only smiled sheepishly back at you, you gave a reluctant “alright” and dragged yourself out from your seat.
---
The washroom was located in a separate building across the traditional Korean-styled garden. It was a beautiful path to walk through and you hardly had any complains. At the end of the garden to the left was a road that sloped steeply upwards to the carpark and the main entrance.
As you approached the end of the scenic path, Yeonjoo suddenly decided to break the silence, “It must be quite tough for you to do your job and still have to keep up the fake relationship.”
You quickly looked around in alarm, trying to make sure that no one was in the vicinity to hear the conversation even though she said it pretty softly.
“Umm... yeah... it is” you stammered. “Should I wait for you outside or follow you in?” you asked her hastily to change the topic.
“Mmmm...” she was was about to answer some kind of rattling noise alerted you.
You turned sharply towards the sound and notices a humongous trolley stacked high with boxes hurtling down the slope towards the both of you. The boxes were tied to the trolley and the speed it came at you was incredibly fast.
There was only a split second to make a decision so you instinctively pushed Yeonjoo away before trying to jump out of the way but there was just not enough time. Your shoulder ended up scraping the tower of boxes that came tumbling down heavily. Even though you were only hit by it peripherally, the force was enough to spin and throw you to the ground. A loud crash followed as the trolley topples over and some of the boxes falls onto you, the contents spilling everywhere, revealing that it had contained bags of rice and fruits.
You turned to look at the top of the road – there was no one in sight. Where could this trolley have come from? You struggled to get back onto your feet and hastily made your way to where Yeonjoo was sitting in shock on the floor.
“Are you alright? Are you able to get up?” you questioned.
“What was that?” she uttered shakily.
“I don’t know... Let’s go, quick... I don’t think it’s safe here...” you replied while reaching out a hand to help her up.
---
Although you were in pain yourself, you let Yeonjoo rest her weight on you as you helped her back towards the traditional Hanok building that housed the private rooms. She was limping as she made her up the few tiny steps, and the moment Jungkook spotted her walk into the hallway he immediately rushed over.
He started fussing incessantly, “Are you ok?! Did you get you hurt? What happened?! Is it serious, let me see it...”
And suddenly the attention was all on you.
“I told you to protect her... isn’t that your only job? Is this how you protect someone?” his tone couldn’t have been anymore accusing and you were mildly offended by that tone.
“Jungkook it’s not like that, there was a trolley that came out of nowhere and she pushed me aside to avoid it” Yeonjoo tried to explain and hold him back.
“Do you not know how important it is for an idol not to get injured? If she sprained her ankle or broke an arm, what will you do about her upcoming activities?” Jungkook continued tearing into you.
You remained silent, not because you did not want to respond, but because you felt offended that you had to respond.
“Jungkook-ah, I think that’s enough... let’s find out what happened first... I’m sure she didn’t intend to hurt her either” Sejoon was stepping in and tugged at his arm to pull him away from you.
Jungkook forcefully shakes off Sejoon, “Did you?” he hissed.
There was silence all around. Nobody responded, he obviously took it too far. If you had any remnants of pity or feelings left for him, it vanished in that moment.
The foolish fangirl was overtaken by the fearless fighter. You determinedly took a step closer to him and stared him straight in his eyes.
“You can say that I did a bad job in protecting her, you can yell at me all you want for that, but don’t... don’t ever try to question my intentions. I know very well how important she is. And my job is to put my wellbeing and my life on the line to protect that. Do you think I'd joke around for something like this? For someone who is too cowardly to risk anything to protect the person you like, what right do you have to be saying all these to me?” you were almost gritting your teeth by the end of all this.
Jungkook was clearly taken aback by your outburst and so was everyone else.
While they ravelled in your words, you turned to stalk off from the scene. There was a sharp pain in your ankles but it didn’t deter you, neither did the shouts from Sejoon calling your name after a few seconds.
You somehow managed to make your way to the main road. Just as you raised your hand to hail a taxi, the throbbing pain in your left shoulder and upper back finally hits you hard. It was immensely painful... it must have been... because you broke down into tears at the roadside, crouching on the pavement.
In that moment you questioned yourself – what is so important in this world that people risk their life and themselves for? No, at least they risk it for what is important to them. Why are you risking everything for what is important to someone else?
---
“You know how it’s like, sometimes they are so noisy at the dorms, so I'd rather come to the company to do the recording on those days,” Yoongi was explaning to Myunghoon why he was at the office on an off-day from the backseat of their black van.
“Fine... next time get one of the interns to come pick you up in that case” Myunghoon was griping as he drove towards the dorms but notices something queer on the roadside.
“Oh?? Isn’t that Y/N? It looks like her...” he exclaimed.
Yoongi looks out the tinted windows to see you curled up at the side of the pavement as Myunghoon drove past.
“Should I turn back?” Myunghoon kept glancing into the side-view mirror.
“Is that even a question?”
---
The van stops along the kerb and Yoongi alights, checking again and again whether it is really you.
“What’s going on?? What are doing here?? Please don’t tell me you are drunk...” his words were direct but his tone was somewhat timid.
Just as his questioning ended, he catches on that you are crying.
“Are... Are you ok?” he stammered.
“Y/N! What are you doing here?” Myunghoon had walked over too. “Are you alright? Hey...”
Myunghoon reaches out to get you to stand up so that they can stop huddling over you but as he grabs your arm to help you up, you winced in pain.
“It hurts...” you were crying really unglamourously.
“What hurts? Did you hurt yourself?” Myunghoon asked you patiently.
“Hey, we can’t keep standing here at the side of the road. Get in the car, we’ll take you to the hospital” Yoongi said rather gently and he notices the damage your jacket has sustained.
You eventually got in the car. As they headed towards the hospital, you continued sniffling and you really wanted to whack yourself over the head for being such a weakling.
Yoongi carefully hands you a tissue. You looked at him with your cheeks stained from all the tears, gratefully accepting it.
“Thank you... again” you said. He just kept quiet while Myunghoon chattered away in the driver seat about how you should claim insurance if it is a work injury.
“Are you always so nice to your staff? You usually look like the kind that wouldn’t really care much...” you asked Yoongi quite out of the blue.
“I don’t know, the guy driving the car probably doesn’t think I’m very nice...” his answer was jokingly sarcastic.
You laughed a tiny laugh while still dabbing away at your eyes and he too smiled a little.
After a momentary pause, he said without looking at you, “You are right... I generally don’t bother making the effort to care... but you seem to be an exception.”

(Luke Palpatine AU) Since becoming Emperor, Luke had grown accustomed to the fact that people were going to spy on every little thing he did, so when he started watching a holo drama, he knew that it would not last long. What he didn't expect was for Nova to join him.
Previous parts on the masterpost here!
Since becoming Emperor, Luke had grown accustomed to the fact that people were going to spy on every little thing he did, so when he started watching a holo drama, he knew that it would not last long. What he didn’t expect was for Nova to join him.
But there she was sitting next to him, just as swaddled in blankets as he was, the long colo claw fish V— Luke had received the previous night acting as a pillow long enough for both of them to use. The rest of his gifts were snuggled around them on the large sofa as well, and Luke felt so… comfortable, lying atop cuddly toys and watching something pathetic and ridiculous like this, like he was half his age.
When the episode finished, Nova glanced at him. “Do you want to watch the next one?”
Luke blinked. “I can?”
“Of course you can,” she said simply and patiently. “Do you want to?”
He glanced at the holo projector. “It’s not a good show.”
“It’s really not. But it’s fun to watch.”
“And it’s getting late.”
“Yes.”
“And I shouldn’t waste my time on this sort of trash.”
Nova pouted. “That’s your father talking.”
“It’s me talking—”
“C'mon, you’re fourteen. You should be having sleepovers and watching trashy shows until your eyes bleed.” She swatted his arm. “Do you want to watch the next one?”
“I— no,” he decided, getting up. The nexu toy tumbled off his lap and landed on top of the holoprojector, its face being cast into odd, slightly comical shadows by the blue light. “No, I don’t want to.”
Nova said, “Hmmm,” and watched him go.
*
And then the next morning, she said to him, “How many times how you spoken to someone your own age?”
He looked at her. She knew the answer to that. “Zero,” he said.
She wrinkled her nose.
“Well then.” She patted him on the shoulder and walked away. “We should fix that.”
*
“Nova,” Luke said that afternoon, staring at the two teenagers sitting awkwardly on one of the sofas in the entrance chamber to his quarters, as far away from each other as they could get without standing up and being explicitly rude, “what did you do.”
It had to have been her. No one else would’ve done this.
“You said you’d never spoken to someone your own age,” she said cheerfully. Luke flushed berry-red, and hated the look one of the teenagers, a girl dressed in white with a bun of dark braids, gave him at that. It was far too close to pity.
“These two agreed to meet you, and you just have to watch one movie together,” she badgered, taking Luke’s shoulder and steering him closer. He felt like a five year old. “If you decided you all hate each other, then you never have to socialise again, but until then, please give it a chance, Luke.”
She whispered. “It’ll be good for you.”
Luke swallowed tightly, hating the way the two teenagers—likely infinitely cleverer, more socialised, more experienced than him—were gazing at him. It was probably scorn—scorn for the child emperor who couldn’t even talk to his peers—
Then Nova ushered them all into the living room of his quarters and sat them down around the holoprojector. They each took separate chairs or sofas, and Luke was intimately aware of the confused glances his Noghri bodyguards were giving and receiving from the newcomers, but he stubbornly tried not to flush again.
“So, uh,” he said. “I’m Luke.”
“We know,” the girl said.
He nodded. “Right.”
She took pity on him and smiled. “This is Zevulon Veers,” she said, and the other teenager—a tall, dark-haired human—gave her a look.
“I was going to introduce myself, thank you.”
“Well, now you don’t have to.”
“Any relation to General Veers?” Luke asked tentatively.
Zevulon… didn’t frown, but he didn’t smile, either. “My father. I hardly ever see him.”
Ah. If only Luke had had that pleasure with his father, he might not have disappointed him as much.
“I met him yesterday,” he offered. “Apparently Vader roped him into teaching me how to shoot.”
“You don’t know how to shoot?” asked the girl. Her voice was loud, regal, and it brimmed with confidence. Luke felt like a shadow next to her.
“No,” he said tightly. “My training never covered that. But Vader and Nova thought it would be a good thing to learn now.” He decided not to mention the whole fight there’d been about that. “The general was a good teacher.”
Zevulon nodded. “He is. When he’s around.”
“When he’s not off slaughtering people?” the girl chimed in.
Zevulon tensed. “Excuse me?”
“What? He’s a general. That’s what he does.”
“It’s his job, he’s good at it. Doesn’t mean you get to insult him for it.” He bristled. “Who even are you? It’s pretty creepy that you know who I am but never thought to return the—”
“I,” she said, glaring daggers, “am Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan.”
Oh.
That made sense—Luke recognised her now. She’d been dragged in front of holocams just as much as he had as a kid.
Zevulon snorted. “Ah. That explains it.”
That was, apparently, the wrong thing to say. She puffed herself up. “And what does that mean?”
“You’re all Rebel sympathisers on Alderaan, aren’t you? No wonder you hate my father.”
“We're—” That seemed to have taken the power out of her engines. She grimaced and said, tensely, “That’s not true, and I never said I hated him—”
“No, you just—”
“Can you two… not fight?” Luke asked. “It’s kinda awkward sitting here watching it.”
Zevulon stopped immediately. Leia’s mouth opened and closed for a moment before she did the same. “Yes, Your Majesty.”
Luke winced. “Don’t do that. Don’t call me Majesty. I’m just Luke.”
The princess actually smiled a little, at that. “And I’m just Leia.”
“I’ve met your father as well,” he said to her, smiling back. “During the talks with the senators. He was nice. Had some good ideas.”
She nodded. “That’s my father.”
He turned his head. “And Zevulon—”
“Zev.” He fidgeted. “While we’re exchanging names, I’m just Zev.”
Luke nodded. “Alright.”
Then he glanced at the holoprojector. “Do either of you know what you want to watch?”
*
“This is stupid,” Leia said, her mouth full of cake. “Monarchies don’t do arranged marriages anymore, that’s archaic.”
“Hey, you’re the one who randomly decided we should introduce Luke to daytime holonet shows. It’s called Crown of Stars, what did you expect it would be like?”
“I have heard of a few arranged marriages in recent years, mainly between magnates and industrial leaders and Moffs and stuff,” Luke admitted, reaching for the tray of food Nova had sent a droid in to deliver for them. The jogan fruit was sweet when he bit into it; juice dribbled down his chin. “But yeah, it’s not that common. And why does she need to marry that guy anyway? His system doesn’t exactly have any resources that her family would exactly need, and they’re on the edge of Wild Space.”
“It’s a holodrama, it’s not meant to be logical!”
Luke shrugged. “Shouldn’t they at least try?”
“They’re more interested in the drama,” Leia said, drawing out the word a tad longer than needed. “To keep their viewers hooked.”
“To keep their viewers confused?”
“That too.”
“Oh stars, the wedding scene.” Zev cringed away. “I can’t watch.”
“Getting invested, Veers?”
“She’s about to marry someone twice her age while her one true love watches in agony! I can’t bear it!”
Leia rolled her eyes. “Then let’s turn it off—”
A pillow smacked her in the face.
“Hey!” She glared at Luke.
“Shhh, it’s getting tense.”
She chucked the pillow back at him. He threw himself against the sofa to dodge it.
“Oh no,” Zev whimpered, peering through his fingers, “he’s gonna kiss her…”
“Wait, look!” Luke leaned forwards. “Is that—? I don’t understand.”
“Shhh, let it finish.”
“The lover burst in and read out a law that declared the marriage illegal,” Leia drawled. “A law which doesn’t exist, by the way—”
“Oh, that’s a sweet ending.” Luke smiled at the projector.
“They’re kissing and riding off into the sunset together, it’s literally the most cliché ending in the galaxy.”
“But it’s sweet.”
Leia had to smile when she glanced at the holo again—at the woman’s beaming face.
“Okay,” she admitted, “it is pretty sweet.” She glanced at Luke and Zev, and cackled when she saw they’d both inched their chairs and sofas closer to the holo, as well as closer together. “You sappy romantics.”
The credits began to roll.
Luke glanced at the time. “Uhhh,” he said, “the time Nova said she was going to lock us in for is up. If you don’t want to stay any longer…”
“Are you kicking us out?” Leia asked. Zev looked hurt.
“No! I just thought… if you did want to leave…”
“Well.” Leia grabbed the remote. “He can leave, but I’m not going to go until you’ve been introduced to a holonet show that is actually good. How about—”
“Are you kidding?” Zev burst out. “They haven’t resolved the secret letter arc yet, and the Count is still missing! Luke has to finish watching the series!”
“No. Absolutely not.”
“One against one.” Zev crossed his arms. “You’re a senator, Leia—”
“Aspiring senator, I’m actually an apprentice legislator—”
“—you like voting. Luke gets the deciding vote.”
Luke smiled. “Crown of Stars.”
“No!”
“There’s too many plotlines that haven’t been wrapped up yet!”
Leia glared at Zev. “You’ve ruined his taste forever.”
“Shhh,” Luke said as the theme began to play. “It’s starting.”
Send me the first sentence of a scene from this AU and I’ll continue it!
