Whalemack!

He’s a gray/grey whale, very nice and VERY big (though about half the size of a blue whale). He’s been mostly solitary for a while, sometimes joining other whales on their migrations, but then he starts collecting little mer children that make travel hard. I’ll probably add some scars from boats/etc to this design. And we need to figure out if mers have tattoos 🧐

a big ol bone i have to pick with the jester origins comic, is despite the respectful, positive depiction of marion as a sex worker, there's also just kink shaming as part of a punchline and point of shame. like lord sharpe's flaw is that he's a slimy misogynist who feels entitled to marion and also yasha without caring much for their feelings. but then the comic has it so part of the joke when jester tricks him and traps him on the balcony is that he's wearing womens underwear? ?? like thats too close to straight up queerphobic bigotry to me, that is a 2005 ass joke. its so weird there are so many other things to make fun of about this man like in the show but the comic writer added that ? man cmon

I keep seeing posts from people talking about their achievements over the past year and feeling left out or inadequate in comparison… apparently I need to go stare dramatically at my own reflection to forcefully remind myself that I did So Much actually and just because it’s not on social media doesn’t mean I’m somehow falling behind!

So here’s to all the people who made it through the year without a camera roll of pictures to show for it, without properly dated art projects, without big events to look back on, with terrible memories of anything that did actually happen, with a sinking feeling of not having enough accomplished, or who generally just didn’t feel great about last year

#motley #i. am. much more enjoying making motley in a video format than as a comic #who knew the series id imagined and scripted as a cartoon works better as a cartoon than a comic. crazy #it is SIGNIFIGANTLY better than the comic. theyre not even comparable #the script flows better. theres new scenes the comic didnt have time to include. they talk and move and it has custom music and everything #genuinely considering just going all in on the cartoon format instead of the comic format. it just works way better #then id be able to have motley: the cartoon and then work on a separate series i ACTUALLY designed to be in a comic format on the side lmfa #i dont want to dissapoint people by not having the monthly big content drops in the form of chapters #but. this single 11 minute episode is turning out to be way more enjoyable than any of the published chapters so far #motley is fundamentally a very emotion driven story and a cartoon medium makes it much easier to capture EXACTLY the vibes it needs to have #aaaaa i cant wait to POST IT!!!!!!!!!

#os: entrails of the animals #im on the last draft edits before i shift to looking for a publisher #unfortunately its a lot of Big changes so its taking so much brainpower augh #mostly bc i wrote the first book with thr idea that it Could be standalone but could also be a trilogy if it got a good reception #but then i decided to just commit to it beinf a trilogy bc thats what i wanted the most #so now im fixing worldbuilding AND having to seed in all of my foreshadowing for the next two books #bc im a bitch who LIVES for as much subtle foreshadowing as i can possibly manage in a story #i think at the end of the day as much work as this is going to take #its going to be worth it ya know?#it takes this from 'the story i happen to tell first' to ' the story i WANT to tell first'#but augh all of these goddamn changes i gotta make #small enough ones that i have to comb the entire story paragraph by paragraph #instead of just redoing certain chapters #and having no energy thanks to my seizure meds #BUT BY GOD IM GETTING THIS SHIT DONE. I WILL HAVE IT PUBLISHED!!!
