Chapter 1

        ♡—Heartslabyul Dorm - Lounge—♡

The day before going to the Scalding Sands

Cater: The weather tomorrow in the Scalding Sands will be~... oh, clear and sunny! That’s perfect, Trey!

Trey: Cater, it’s great that you’re checking the forecast on your phone, but are you all packed and ready to go for our trip?

Cater: Yup, I’m all set ☆ I’m used to moving a lot, so I’m a bit of a packing expert~

Trey: Ahh, yeah, that makes sense.

Riddle: Oh? What are you two up to?

...Right, I remember. You said you were both leaving for the Scalding Sands tomorrow, didn’t you?

Deuce: Oh, Yuu and Grim were talking about that too.

Are you two going as well?

Ace: So unfair. Yuu gets to go but we have to stay here and house-sit? Come on!

Cater: Uh-oh, Acey and Deucey found out?

Hey, don’t let it bother you too much. We’ll make sure to bring back souvenirs for you guys!

Jamil: The stalls here sell a lot of sweets and novelty goods, so I think this is a great spot for picking out souvenirs.

Cater: You’re right... and so much of this stuff just screams Scalding Sands!

Hey, Trey, why don’t we get souvenirs from around here for our dorm?

Trey: Sure. Now the question is, what should we get...?

Cater: Some individually-wrapped candies would be good. Y’know, like the kind that are easy to hand out.

Trey: How about these chocolate dates?

Cater: I like those! Bonus points that the wrappers are cute, and the candies themselves feel like a Scalding Sands specialty.

But there might be someone reluctant to try foods they’re not used to. I’d like to get a foolproof option.

Whoa, look at that! The stall to the left has super gorgeous accessories!

I think a fashion-forward person would love that bracelet with those odd gems embedded in it.

Hmm, but the soaps lined up in the back of the shop are made of coconut oil. Those would make good souvenirs too...

Trey: Come on, Cater, weren’t you going to buy some sweets?

But I noticed you only picked out gifts for other people.

Jamil: If none of this really interests you, I could take you to the other stalls.

Cater: Hey, Jamil. I know I asked you to pick out my souvenir...

But we’ve been walking for five minutes now. Where exactly are we going?

Jamil: We’re almost there. ——Look, we’re here. The shop on the left.

Shopkeeper: Welcome! Come, poke around and take a look.

Cater: Hm...? Wow, there’s a bunch of stylish clothes and pouches!

Is this a silk shop?

Jamil: Yes. All of their products are embroidered with traditional Scalding Sands patterns.

The phone case you have is from a popular brand, right?

And the bag you brought today is from that same brand. Your outfit is coordinated and you seem to never settle for less when it comes to your belongings.

I thought you’d like an everyday shop the locals use rather than the tourist stores.

Cater: Wha? You noticed all that?!

It’s true I got super excited seeing all the stylish things here.

Oh, is that a stole in the front there? That seems handy~

Shopkeeper: Feel free to try on anything you might like.

Cater: Is that okay? Thank you!

Love Confession: How would they confess to their s/o?

I have this feeling that Jamil would definitely refuse to confess his feelings for two reasons. First of all, he would have to make sure that you would feel the same way as him and that you wouldn't see him as someone below Kalim. He knew to himself that he would take your refusal to his heart and it would take even a longer time to move on from you rather than his own Overblot. 

If the first one is already solved, the second reason will then surface. If he confessed to you, Jamil wanted to make sure that he was finally free from his responsibilities and his "servant ties" with Kalim. He doesn't want you to experience the same status as him, and he doesn't want to expose you to the judgemental eyes that have befallen him ever since he was young. He wanted to give the best to you, as you deserved the world, and before he could give himself to you, Jamil would make sure that the shackles holding him back were destroyed so that he could soar high together with you.

After everything was settled, his problems were solved and he could give you everything you ever dreamed of, Jamil would prepare the finest confession befitting for you.

Jamil thought of properly confessing to you under the fireworks of the Aleab Naria festival of the Scalding Sands after years of pining and...well, flirting. He knew that he became so obvious of his feelings, and now, he just wanted to make it formal.

After enjoying the stalls and eating snacks, Jamil promised to take you to see the best view of the fireworks. He had guide you up to the roof of a massive house, which gives you two an unobstructed view. 

Contrary to what he had expected, Jamil wasn't nervous at his incoming confession at all. Maybe because he was waiting for this all these years, and that he was confident that you would return his feelings. 

As the first ribbons of light burst up into the sky, Jamil prepared himself for the change he was waiting for. The change of a lifetime he was willing to embrace fully now that he has you by his side.

Quirk: Some random ability they have that's beneficial in a relationship.

I am one hundred percent sure that it was Jamil's cooking skills that would benefit you both in your relationship. He would invite you to cook with him and offer to be his test taster. It's not because he's trying to poison you or something so morbid like that, but he wanted you to be the very first person who could taste his new recipes.

Jamil will use his observant nature in order to know what you prefer to eat, your favourite food and what you hate the most, or if you have any allergies, he would make sure to not use them in his creations. He would be very attentive as he thought of the new recipes he was whipping up just for you.

Of course, Jamil has responsibilities to take care of Kalim as well so it would be a relief if you were cooking together with him. He would never dare admit it even in his grave how important those simple gestures and quality time he shares with you in the kitchen.

"Is this to your liking?" Jamil placed another set of full meals on the table you occupy in the kitchen. "I remember you didn't like much salt in this recipe before so I toned it down this time. How is it?"

He seemed so casual when asking, but you know he was considering and questioning you about your preferences so everything would be perfect next time he cooked for you. You gave him a thumbs up and a grin. "This is marvelous, Jamil! But at least let me help you in cooking...or help me eat all of this…"

His lips curved in a satisfied smirk. "If you insist,"

XOXO: Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?

Jamil wouldn't be openly affectionate with his lover in public, he has, after all, a reputation to uphold as both the Vice Dorm Head of Scarbia and Kalim's personal aid. It's not as if showing such a different side of him is embarrassing to him, no, in fact he rather liked it when he's being open with you. He trusts you after all. It's just that, he doesn't want others who hold a grudge towards him to target you for being his "weakness".

Though the word "weakness" is not quite right. Jamil treated you, even though probably not as openly as you want it, as his equal in a relationship despite the dark part of him wanting to be the "dominant" one. He knows the feeling of being at the bottom so he would make sure that you won't feel that way in your relationship with him. 

It would probably take a long time before he could be more open to you with his affections even in private and secluded times. What Jamil loves is receiving more kisses and cuddles from you, preferring for you to take the initiative because first of all, he was embarrassed to death by asking for it and second, he was quite reluctant to show you how much he's been smitten by you. Although after some time, that hesitance for your touches leave him craving for more.

In the silence that reigns and the unspoken words that would never leave his lips, Jamil slowly reached out his hand to your form, hesitant and unsure. You patiently met his fingers with yours, squeezing his hand in wordless assurance that you know. And that you understand. 

With quiet reluctance, he squeezed your hand back, sighing in content and meeting your gaze solemnly. Someday, he would definitely...

Yearning: How will they cope when they're missing their partner?

Jamil's way of coping is, surprisingly speaking, sticking close to Kalim for distractions, of all people. Kalim's a generally talkative, cheerful and friendly person so being with him, as much as it was tiring and causing him to have grey hairs in the process, would help alleviate the stinging, compressing emotions in his chest that he refuses to acknowledge no matter what. 

Kalim knew Jamil was missing you when his Vice Dorm Head would be completely silent, almost in a daze if you looked really closely, when he had done something that Jamil would normally reprimand and scold him for his thoughtless actions. Jamil would just wordlessly roll his eyes and fix his mistakes without another word or complaint.

Sometimes, too, Kalim would find him staring intently at his own phone, the screen reflecting your contact details as if he was hesitant in calling you. What if you find him annoying and clingy? Jamil doesn't want you to think of him similar to Kalim in any way after all. What if…

Kalim, with a mischievous grin, sneakily pressed the call button of his phone when he caught Jamil staring at it in a daze once again. The ringing and you picking it up snapped him back to reality. "Kalim, what have you done?!" Jamil hissed, almost in panic as he cradled his phone like a lifeline.

The Scarbia Dorm Head just looked at him innocently before flashing a bright grin. "Ahahaha! I just want to return the favour of helping me earlier! Come on, Jamil, they're waiting!" 

Glaring at his retreating figure, Jamil sighed in exasperation before bringing the phone close to his ears, his hands almost trembling but he paid it no mind. He just wished that his voice, no matter how much he had been...missing you, won't tremble and give you the wrong impression.

"[Name]...I…"

The Diasomnia dorm is the darkest dorm of all. Maybe not so creepy as the Ignihyde, but still, there was something about this dorm that gave you chills. Maybe it was the big, black thorns around the big, dark castle. Maybe it was the torches, which didn't have red fires, but green.

In a cold day of winter, a little orphan girl was running in the forest. She had dark green hair, red eyes and pale skin. She was very thin, like she had to eat, for days. She ran away from the orphanage, where there were treating the children more like animals, than human beings.

She saw the big castle, but she felt no fear, more like gooseflesh.

The big, black thorns were like swords, ready to cut anyone who approached the castle. But she didn't have another choice, she needed a shelter.

"Well, well. What are we having here?" she heard a cunning voice. Two pairs of red and green eyes appeared among the thorns. The first, with the red eyes, was young man. He had his black hair dyed pink. He was wearing the Diasomnia dorm uniform. He was holding the hand of a little boy, with the green eyes. The boy didn't seem older than ten and he had black hair and black clothes. They both had pale skin.

"Did you get lost?" the young man asked "Don't be afraid" he reached his hand "Anise"

"Anise"

"Anise"

The girl opened her red eyes. She was in her room. She saw her adopted big brother, Silver, pushing her shoulder gently, to wake her up.

"It's time for school" he said.

"Mn" the girl whispered and stood up, puching her covers to the side.

"Are you alright?" Silver asked

"I am fine, don't worry" she said and smiled "It was just a dream"

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"It wasn't exactly a dream. It was a memory. I saw the night that I met papa and master Malleus"

"I remember that night. I was in the castle, when I saw old man introducing you as my little adopted sister. Now that we talk about him, he left a letter for you"

"A letter?"

She took the piece of paper in her hands and Silver left the room, so she will get ready for the class.

"My dear Anise. I will leave for a while. I missed traveling alone. You will be Malleus guardian. Good luck with him!"

She could hear Lilia's laugh, when he wrote this letter. How could he leave like that? How could he leave her in charge to protect young master Malleus? She was always blushing when she was around him, sometimes even losing her words.

"Why did you give me this task, papa?" she whispered with her face red from anger and embarrassment.

She got dressed and opened the door of her room. Malleus was standing in the corridor, waiting for her. Once he saw her coming out of her room, he approached her.

"Did Lilia inform you about you being my guardian?" he asked with his calm voice

"Eh? Yeah, yeah he did! Don't worry, I got your back!" "I did it again! Got your back... What a stupid expression... Why am I always like this when I am around him?"

Malleus waved his head positive "I am sure about it" he said, smiling a little to her. They went together to the class. They had Malleus' favorite lesson, Defensive magic, it would be an easy hour.

During the night, when the most of the students went for sleep, she went to Malleus's room, to check on him, just like her father used to do.

She knocked the door and once she heard his response, she opened the door. Malleus was sitting next to the window of his room. He turned and his green eyes met her red one.

"Do you need anything, my master?" she asked

"No, I am fine" he said, a little sad

"Is everything alright?"

"Riddle had a tea party, where he called the dorm leaders, but the invitation never came to me"

Anise lowered her head. She knew how sad Malleus was when his invitations were "lost". An idea came to her mind and left Malleus' room quickly, making the young master to look at the door confused.

After fifteen minutes she came back. Malleus was still sitting on his chair, lost to his thoughts. She approached him and reached her hand to him. He looked it and then he took it.

Anise smiled and pulled him out of his room. They arrived to the dining room. Malleus opened the door and looked surprised for what he saw.

On the table, there were plates with cakes, cookies, a tea pot and two cups.

"You did all that...?" he whispered

"Yeah. I thought that it would make you feel better. A tea party, here" there was no response from him "What? Was it a bad idea?"

"No no no! The opposite one! No one, not even Lilia, has done something like this before... Thank you!" he looked down and saw that they still were holding hands, from when they got out of his room. She blushed and pulled her hand, looking away.

"W-well..." she whispered "Shall we... Sit?"

Malleus smiled and sat to the chair. Anise served the tea and sat across him. All the night, they were talking and they both realized that even if they know each other for almost eight years, there were still many things that they didn't know.

After Halloween, the only other event I wanted the SSR for was Aleab Naria. If they do more dorm leader ssrs, rip to my gems.

What was orientalist about the event (the outfits aside I mean). I was actually surprised it even went into details about the license plate auctions and drive-thru popularity. It's very much anime Dubai even if the word play with aleab and aliabu seems dumb to me personally. It was Extremely food diary heavy though.

Yeah, I could see how much they tried, and don't get me wrong, I liked the whole event! but I think they don't recognize the problem of Aladdin(1992 and 2019).

Not only Scalding Sands but Twisted Wonderland always try to "represent" the culture based on their original movie. And This is the point where the problems come from.

So, the map of Scalding Sands was drawn based on Iraq, this makes sense since Agrabah was an anagram of Bagdad. (the map below is around Bagdad in 1992)

And as you mentioned, they referred to and searched UAE culture well. I was amazed by it (but well… if they referred to the map of Iraq, they could have just represented Iraq culture… and some of the points they mixed Turkish culture too.…)

and then, they used the Taj Mahal as the huge house of Asim(kalim). Yeah, because the sultan's palace in Aladdin(1992) was drawn based on the Taj Mahal.

But this has been criticized for decades. If they were aware of the problem of orientalism in Aladdin, this would never be their choice.

I could keep going this forever but I'm getting tired so I stop here, but the last rhythmic dance was an absolute reference from Aladdin(2019) and it was from Bollywood dance.

They searched MENA culture well not because they were aware of the problem over orientalism in Aladdin, They did it just because Aladdin was an amalgam of Middle Eastern and South Asian visual inspirations and they went along with it.

We're in 2021, not 1992. Twisted Wonderland has a HUGE fandom and impact in Japan. This means Disney has great power to young generation and got a chance to make up for what they've done in the past. representation matters.

> the Event Story that will unlock in 3 parts (1st part released today 12.Jul, 2nd part on 19.Jul and 3rd part on 26.Jul)

> accumulate fireworks during normal lessons, use them to unlock the event story chapters and level-up event cards magic

> accumulate coconut cocktails with the mission stamps (9 missions, unlock rewards at each stamp and get a mirror key at the 10th) | based on Halloween Event pattern, a second mission stamps card will appear at next maintenance

> two types of exchange at Mystery.S Shop = fireworks (event cards, etc) & coconut cocktail (event groooovy item, event background, SSR perfume, magic books, etc)

EVENT CARDS :

> Jamil SSR Card and Malleus SR Card at the Mirror Gacha (I recommend saving and doing batch mirrors by 10 so that you at least have an SR card among them) | usually for SSR gacha, you will have a guarantee of 50% event card card drop if you secure a SSR drop, and if your first SSR is not the Event Card then your next SSR is guaranteed to be the Event Card

This is my current team, which is still struggling even in Normal mode to get the kill on the 4th turn. I would switch Vil out for Dorm Kalim but Vil's just too leveled up for me to leave behind. I have been trying to focus on buffing Floyd up tho, with both his magic up to lvl5 already.

If you’re struggling to kill on normal mode 4th turn, here are 2 things you can do:

Level up your cards more, especially Robe Deuce and Union Floyd, both ATK cards;

Replace Ruggie and Jack (neither hit very hard) with Bday Azul and Bday Malleus, doing that will get you one more DUO and you use Bday Vil more.
