Hello, I love your nnt rewrite and the redesigns of the characters, but I gotta ask: are you gonna rewrite the abilities of the main characters or are you gonna keep them as they are.

For the most part, the main characters' abilities stay the same, but I am changing a few. Ban still has Snatch and Gowther keeps Invasion. Escanor still has Sunshine, though I explore it a bit more and what it could be capable of. Merlin still has Infinity, of course, since it ties in so much with her backstory and why everyone wanted her in the first place, thus leading to how she got cursed; though, I might tweak it a bit since it's so overpowered in general.

I thought about changing Diane's to something that ties in with her Sin of Envy (a kind of mimicry ability), but the Giants tend to all have the same abilities, so I scraped that idea and decided to make her envy more as a sense of inferiority. In the rewrite, Diane is a lot less talented with her powers unlike other Giants (whereas in canon, she was noted to almost be a prodigy) and so was envious of others for being just naturally better than she was. This ties into the whole arc I made for her (both before and during the main story) of fighting tooth and nail to become stronger and more skilled rather than just being a natural. But I digress.

The only mains whose abilities are chanegd the most are King and Meliodas. Since King wasn't originally born to the Fairy King in the rewrite, I decided to give him Elaine's ability, Miracle Wind, from canon, while Elaine had Disaster. Elaine is tied to the earth, whereas King is more tied to the weather (which is a big part of nature) and can greatly affect it with his winds.

Meliodas, on the other hand, now essentially has Sound Manipulation (like Vanya/Viktor from the Umbrella Academy, but a little bit different). It doesn't quite have the same effect as Full Counter, but it more or less does the same thing with him using the sound of a person's attacks to reflect it back at them (which, of course, works even better if the person uses a weapon). To me, Full Counter always felt a little bit silly and the most video game-esque of the main powers (even before the power level element got brought in). Still, I DID like the aspect of being able to throw an attack back at an enemy when they attack you. Meliodas' power in the rewrite now ties in directly with his backstory and his role among the Goddesses before the Fall. It's also why he's teaching Gowther the Circle of Fifths from Music Theory in one of my previous drawings and why he has so many instruments in Elizabeth's room in the rewrite.

FFXIV Write Day 24 - Bar

Note: Dawntrail second half references, well, spoilers but I never say anything as to why things are happened, just alluding to them.

Once more this is part of my eventual writing for Meteor and, well...part of my ideas for Meteor's MSQ playthrough through Dawntrail but I read the word and I had to write this...it is bigger than I am posting but I am saving some of it for later.

In the moment it had been so easy — they helped around as usual, because it has ever been their nature to help people, an absolutely impossibility to stay put, and of course, so far both of them had been having nothing but a great time — exploring, being together, wondering where they could go next.

And it crumbles down so easily.

Meteor wonders, sometimes, why he didn’t realize he was lowering his guard so much, how come he allowed Ardbert to board the train alone.

All he can do is stare ahead as there’s something screaming danger inside of him and, worse than everything and anything — he can’t feel him anymore. Ardbert is no longer a constant presence or feeling inside of him, it was like getting his very soul ripped away from inside of him.

He wants to scream.

He wants to run ahead and tear down that dome and get inside, see with his own eyes what has happened.

And all he hears is that it’s impossible.

There’s no entrance.

Only danger coming from inside.

And as Erenville yells that they have to return to Tuliyollal, and as much as his body is moving along and running back towards the capital — his heart is beating too fast, his mind racing, his entire being in shambles and crumbling down. Why?

Why can’t he feel Ardbert?

Why now?

Why can’t he ever protect the people he loves?!

No. He refuses. He still has a job to do, he needs to defend his family — and suddenly his mind focuses, he knows what he has to do, he will get rid of all of this, everything that is pouring from that accursed dome — he will find the responsible and make them pay.

He will get in there and bring Ardbert back, as he has done once and twice.

Nothing will ever stop him — not even another stupid attempt at the end of the world or whatever this stupid bullshit is now…and it is here when, suddenly, he feels it, a small yearning coming from so far away and yet so familiar.

…Ardbert is, indeed, inside the dome…their connection just weakened by whatever magic or aether or similar that keeps that thing up.

‘Wait for me…I will be there…’ He wills, with all his being, for this message to reach Ardbert…and to let him know that no matter what — he will get there. He will get to him. Soon.

And the poor Warrior of Light has no idea how wrong he is about that…

good morning im still thinking about ionia and how alive it is and the fact it has its own spirit and that it protects its own as much as it harms those who'd harm it but im thinking more specifically about how that might impact the way some characters look at things and think their actions are justified. i wrote in a thread once, when someone questioned irelia for losing touch to the spirit of ionia due to her aggressive approach and lingering hatred against noxus, that her retort was something along the lines of 'except i didn't lose it, the land knows me as one of its children regardless of what i have done (so is this path really that wrong? wouldn't ionia shun me if it was?)' and I was just thinking how true that is to zed, too. he fights for ionia and its people, the definitions of the latter quite arbitrary sometimes, but ionia never fought him back. it acknowledges him as one of its own, even with the shadow magic stuff going on. ultimately ionia seems content to respect those who respect it and care for those who care for it, regardless of what they do (to invaders or even their own)
