ai "art" my ass , ai cannot recreate art , or come close to it, art mimics its audience, not pictures online, art captures a feeling, art is an experience that is encapsulated and then shown to us physically, art is not copying and pasting different experiences all together for someone's half-assed ai bot that is only stealing from artists who are putting their souls into what they make just for it to be stripped off the internet and into a bot that can't even retain memory or form coherent storylines. Pisses me oawffffff

I have a feeling some people haven't thought about this, though most of us have.

The strike... THE strike... yes, streaming residuals are important. Last century, every time we got to watch an old series on TV, EVERY time, the actors (if they didn't get screwed) got paid a little bit.

All the streaming services, now, have not one idea how to organise or arrange payments, so they just blundered ahead. Sometimes, however, as we can guess, it was deliberate. How can actors, and writers, in fact anyone, survive, feed themselves or family, and keep a roof over their head at all. And then how do they do what they do for a living.

Then there's the bloody AI.

And AI can actually BE an actor, use their face, their voice and we wouldn't know, if we weren't told. This will literally take the food right out of their mouths. AI can BE a writer, not a particularly good one, right now, but that's not going to be the way it is forever. AI has the potential to take over every single art-form humans enjoy pursuing, music, painting, sculpture, singing, writing, acting, for a fraction of the "cost". But that's not the whole point of art, and AI, no matter what it might "say", does not enjoy doing art.

So we can trust the US to bring forth the end of Art, can't we?

The reason why nowhere else is going on strike is because everywhere else is courageous enough to discuss this.

But every single one of us should be angry at this sheer bloody fucked up stupidity. They can actually kill art. That's a stupid thing to be able to say.

AI can cure a multitude of medical problems. AI can manage impossibly difficult systems so that our lives are better... and we should pursue that. But AI can take actual things away from us that we don't want to lose.

Y'all I know that when so-called AI generates ridiculous results it's hilarious and I find it as funny as the next guy but I NEED y'all to remember that every single time an AI answer is generated it uses 5x as much energy as a conventional websearch and burns through 10 ml of water. FOR EVERY ANSWER. Each big llm is equal to 300,000 kiligrams of carbon dioxide emissions.

LLMs are killing the environment, and when we generate answers for the lolz we're still contributing to it.

Stop using it. Stop using it for a.n.y.t.h.i.n.g. We need to kill it.

Might as well post this here for posterity, since Youtube has yet to resolve the matter.

A couple of weeks ago, my short film 'Pleasant Inn' got a false copyright strike from an individual named Kazi Zidane Mim. He has been striking any Youtube channel that reacted to my short film in the hopes of uploading his own stolen version titled 'Paradise Hell.'

For comparisons, here is my original short film:

Kazi Zidane Mim has a history of just flat out stealing.

As an example, this is his 'Bloody Mary graphic novel,' which is actually a manga called 'Ibitsu,' with only the text/dialogue changed.

He's literally just selling this on Google Books and Amazon without any push-back.

I also found out that he has a Sketchfab account.

Why is this important? Because Sketchfab offers a great library of 3D models made by other artists, such as this animated deer by Games in Motion Studios;

And to add insult to injury...

So far, Youtube hasn't done anything about this and I'm tired of waiting. Many channels have received false copyright strikes by Kazi Zidane Mim just for reacting to 'Pleasant Inn' since 2019.

just want to share this on tumblr so i can let you all know that if you use ai, and specifically use it to make jjba 'fanart', araki would hate you :)

but he brings up a good point about how ai is becoming a problem that it's difficult to tell if a work is done by ai or not, and more mangaka should be concerned about this too.

also, i really hope laws do come out to protect artists. not only will it protect them, it'll protect art and humanity overall. mangaka are already dealing with plenty of problems, like stressful deadlines and underpayment, among personal issues. do not let ai become a bigger problem. the companies that publish their work need to step up and find a way to protect them as soon as possible.

do not make a future where manga are being done by ai users.

In the event of any kind of AI Art API is to be trained on this platform I do not give permission for my art to be sampled or used to train AI without financial compensation, artists hold the copyright to our art and any intentional mimicry or sampling of my art by an artificial intelligence is infringing on an artist's rights to their creations.

We as artists will not take this grim proposal between Tumblr and Midjourney laying down, this was the last safe heaven for a lot of us and you are now holding knives to us entirely to solve your financial woes instead of offering meaningful solutions. You are going to bleed your community of all trust and all revenue you still eek out of us. Your ways have changed from one of a community built around passion for fandom and the creative mind to one of greed and exclusion. You have been showing true colors and they are ugly, they are sickening, and they will kill your platform. If this deal goes through, may your platform die slow and painfully, may you watch your most loyal of whales walk away and leave you drying out in the hot pavement that is bankruptcy.
