I need y'all to know that I watched the dub version of the touya backstory and vs shouto fight and I am devastated
Idk who here watches the dub or cares about it but it hit so much harder. They fucking kept Jason as his teenage voice in the scene when he wakes up. Like in the sub the VA is different and still makes it sound like a teenage boy. But in the dub that is a whole-ass man's voice coming out of him, and it's so much more jarring to hear it juxtaposed with his internal voice that still sounds like a child. And it's not even like he's still talking in the Dabi voice, I forget that Jason has range and he speaks so much softer and scared and sad than we've ever heard him be with this character, and it ripped my entire fucking heart out. I'm gonna be haunted by the sound of him saying he has to go home for the next fucking week.

DPXDC Idea: Mother of Monsters Dan(yal)
Specifically Fem!Dan because I made this in mind with my Fem Danyal Au bUT. The best part about Dan is that I get to play dress up with her, and Fem Dark Dany is gonna go by Layal (pronounced lae-el) because it means "the nights" and it sounds similar to Danyal, and I think she'd choose that name to mock Dany. ANYWAYS
Mother of Monsters Danyal. She may be evil but she's an Al Ghul at her core (even with vlad's soul merged with hers - however, considering that Layal looks and sounds like Dany, she considers that soul to be the more dominant one.) and loves animals. And she might be heartless, but she adores the monsters of the infinite realms.
Mother of Monsters Layal who hates everyone but utterly dotes and adores on every manner of beast she comes across. Stealing the eggs and infant young beasts of the Infinite Realms to raise as her own because she wanted them. Her own island full of monsters, a monstrous menagerie of her own. She steals most often from poachers or exotic pet keepers and other menageries -- the full grown beasties can keep their young.
And with every monster she raises, she can shapeshift their features onto herself, allowing her to change her shape from humanish to any matter of monster or hybrid creature. She calls herself their mother, and them her children. Her precious little babies, capable of incredible mass destruction and mayhem.
From little griffins the size of kittens, to stymphalian vulture chicks, and leviathan young hatching from eggs the size of her pinkie, to creatures native of the ghost zone that didn't even have names in the living realm. There really wasn't a limit to what or who she would take in and she didn't limit herself to any form of mythology. If they were beasts and they were unwanted, she wanted them. And as such, amassed her own mini army of "children" willing to listen to her any command.
Earth doesn't know what hit it when she attacks them.
There are many monstrous forms she could take on, the first one I've thought of is a combination of various serpentine/reptilian features. The body of a naga -- her lower half long and serpentine, her upper still human -- with spiked fins connecting from the bottom of her arms to her sides, ever seen Sinbad where Eris goes "you might have seen my likeness on the temple walls" and her arms do that fin thingy? Same concept. Her hands are webbed and taloned, perfect for slicing through the skin of the living, and her teeth are needle-sharp and shark like. Her hair can either be spiny and feathery-like like the spines of a lionfish, or frilled like a frilled-neck lizard. It's perfect for dealing and doting on her reptilian and amphibian-inclined darlings.
I'm more of a fan of aus where Dan is a sibling of Danny's rather than their kid, so Layal's redemption(..?? probation?) proceeds with her legally becoming Danyal's "twin" sister, who had been lost to the foster system before the Fentons adopted Dany, and was only recently reunited with her. The two of them look so alike that the lie is easy to take root and spread.
Layal is very indignant to the fact that she's now ten years in the past and has to restart her menagerie all over again. Do you know how much blood and sweat went into raising those children? How dare you separate them from their mummy. Although she'll admit she does miss their juvenile years, so she won't mind (too much) needing to raising them again. Dany is helping her retrieve all of them though, dammit.
long story short: epic the musical's "Scylla" has a CHOKEHOLD on me and this is the result of it
Unlike her Dan counterpart, Layal's voice is dancing and sirenic. It's purposely alluring and motherly, in order to lure people into a false sense of security until she feeds them to her "children." Echidna doesn't have shit on her. She almost seems friendly and reasonable, until you get too close and realize it was all an act and she drops it to metaphorically swallow you whole. She's like an anglerfish that way. She and Dany both sound like Scylla from Epic.

Bastian and Volo - The Antichrist and his Hound
There once was a boy who served in a castle. The noble family who lived there paid him no mind.
One day, like a blow through the heart, that boy saw God.
Something bright. Something terrible. Something holy, greater than every blazing star: Bastian, second issue of the Duke of Burgundy, seething and ambitious and wrathful.
Souls depart the body through the eyes; the boy never looked away.
.
Bastian was eighteen when he noticed Volo: the young son of a stablehand who had taught himself to read, to carry, to serve. Desperately ready to file himself into a cold and razored sword for Bastian's hand, if only that hand would close like a collar around his neck.
And so, in time, Bastian seized him.
.
It is your turn to see them now, years on, as the storm gathers.
Ecce homo: A Conqueror on a pale horse, his banners flying behind him, with a hunger for heaven on his lips and a burning crown on his head. But that which truly bears his glory runs at his heel.
Ecce canis: A chaste and brutal Galahad, rimed with frost, leading the legions of his Lord to any end, any dictate, as long as he is granted the final honor of slitting his own throat on Bastian's altar.
They are linked by a silver chain. God to slave, king to knight, love to worship. Even death cannot break it.
.
There once was a dog who served his master. The dragon who holds his leash will never let it go.

this all being said about the light dragon and how it is definitely the biggest highlight of totk (for me at least), i Do think a lot of the reaction to it Is dependent on botw and zelda's characterisation from that game... a lot of which is kind of lacking in totk because of her more passive role (e.g. you are told about her + see her actions after they have already happened)
like. if you didn't already really like zelda and were sold on her relationship with link (and not even just from a shipping zelink perspective, like. just UNDERSTANDING they have a strong bond from everything they've gone through together) then i'm not sure if any of that stuff in totk would've hit as hard as it did. the game does very little to build on what we already know about them, which i think is both a letdown to new players (which. i am not sure why they are playing the sequel before botw, but that is how totk acts most of the time lmao) and returning ones, and as time goes on it's become harder for me to blame people for not caring for it as much.
what a truly odd game

i need u to think abt lucifer and zhao (in the das in the devildom au) bringing IK to her first day of school idk!! lucifer packing her bag before she starts. zhao is probably a lil tears in eye (lucifer dosent cry until he gets home bc he sees a lil photo of IK and he has to excuse himself). idk just lucifer being IK’s dad and being referred to as such…idk….makes my heart go smdndmc
well!! i can always think MORE
i think lucifer would have to be restrained from just fully giving ik the magical equivalent of a taser just in case any of the other three year olds in her class attempt to kill her. if he can't be there to protect his little kid then the next best thing is a magical gun wielding his powers
he gets better over time, but then one day ik starts feeling poorly so they call zhao and lucifer is RICOCHETING off the walls out of worry (having a small daughter just brings out all completely different sides of him)
for his own peace of mind lucifer goes to pick her up and when the school secretary is like "ah so you're her father" he has a Moment because it's the first time someone else has referred to him as such and he's just like !!!!!! YES I AM (much more outwardly calmly of course)
(it makes zhao very emotional as well so once ik's busy playing with her uncles him and lucifer just have to like. sit and silently hold each other about it)
also on ik's first day at school lucifer spent like two hours sitting in his room like this

i think izzy might get to be happy for the rest of the season. the whole crew made him feel genuinely appreciated for the first time since he stepped foot on the revenge.
they always thought he was a dick, of course they did, but he never got to hear jim say "he's our dick." while they and archie helped take care of his leg. even if he's an asshole, they kind of all are!! they're pirates!!! he's still integral to the ship and the crew knows that; he's knowledgeable and arguably the most skilled fighter on the ship. aside from ed he's been pirating the longest just from the virtue of life lived. the crew may have known this since season one but they never expressed their appreciation for him because he was SO mean.
but in episode four they all see that he's genuinely depressed and fucking struggling, probably has been since they've known him. like jesus he became a fucking alcoholic for like three days😭
i think it really comes down to the resentment and jealousy he has for stede; stede is a fucking LOSER. i love him so much but i feel like that's just. canon. he's not a good pirate by any standards, it's a miracle he's alive, and ed fell for him in a week when izzy's been right by his side for DECADES. he's got everything izzy wants and he didn't even have to try. he was living unhappily for months while he watched the man he loves literally fall into the arms of another—someone who is everything izzy isn't.
and then ed was pretty fucking horrible to him the entire time he captained the revenge!! why was that?? BECAUSE OF STEDE. AGAIN. out of everyone izzy was the most mutilated, disrespected, manipulated, and made a fool of. but he accepted it because he loves ed so greatly. and then fucking stede comes back and that's all izzy can take.
he never felt love from ed, not like he needed. i think he believed that ed was the only person in the world who could have. once izzy realized he never would, he thought he was unloveable. worthless. so when the crew made him a sturdy, hand-designed, hand-painted prosthetic, they showed their love for him. that's all he ever needed. having friends other than ed will be SO beneficial for his mindset, because let's be real, izzy was ALWAYS too dependent on ed and ed absolutely took advantage of it every chance he got. they are not good for each other, at least not alone. if izzy finds himself loved and valued among the crew, the lack of love from ed won't consume him anymore. he can be free i fucking know it
