I got stuck doing a lot of display signage for the greenhouses since Dan (an actual artist!) left to go teach painting classes. I am not great at using the program he liked, but since most of our old signs were made using it, I typically edit the heck out of existing documents and call it a day. this usually works well enough, which is, again, why I'm the dweeb that got stuck with the job.
anyway it sucks at like. actually centering things sometimes. and I am probably the only one who notices. I asked J how Dan managed to make everything so nice. she said 'yeah I think he just eyed it. since he was good at that.'
and I started wailing bc I used to do pixelart, so I notice when something is 1 single stupid pixel to the left of center. but getting the program to actually move smth over ONE PIXEL instead of 2 or 3 is apparently impossible. death upon Illustrator.
#I think. I just have to work with a larger canvas in general. like that always just makes small differences... smaller#but the computer Doesn't Like That. so.#we uh. we needed a whole new big sign for out front for an event coming up. so the manager explained how he wanted it to sorta look#and I made a new sign! and he okayed it! and we got it printed by a local place onto corrugated plastic! and it's REAL now#sitting up in the office. it's always weird to see smth I made printed out on smth besides A4 paper and then laminated#but it still started out as an AI doc so *kicks it a little bit*

In high school a friend and I got into making quartet/top trumps type card games and we made multiple different ones, mostly made up of inside jokes or things related to certain classes (we made a Latin class card game with a bunch of fictional and real people from Ancient Rome, like Seneca or Biggus Dickus from Life of Brian, and we drew cards and assigned stats to them so the card game was playable). And then we'd play them sometimes or try to do tarot readings with them. Anyway it's a great time and I recommend making card games yourself. It's a little more effort than making a simple little 8-page zine and you need to find a topic that can yield ~32 cards (you can make less or more but in my experience 24 is the minimum and it should be a number that can be divided multiple different ways) but you get to come up with your own categories and rate your favourite things in terms of things such as 'height', 'aggression level', 'top speed', 'number of legs', 'chances of becoming prom queen', etc. Go make a card game, it's fun
#i recommend using sheets of A4 paper and folding them in half 3 times so you get 8 cards per page#you need at least 3-4 sheets that way#and 5 or 6 categories are ideal#the cards can have a uniform design but don't need to#and if you use regular printer paper i recommend laminating the cards or reinforcing them with thicker paper or card#henryposting

The Mystery of the Pears by @sonwar
Another one from forever ago that I'm only now posting!
when i was getting back into hp fanfiction a few years ago, i had just finished another heavy fic and then stumbled upon this beauty. i think i read it all in one go and it slowly became a comfort fic of mine.
detailssss:
the best and most beautiful art from @cuckooboo that was the inspiration for this glitter gel pen bind.
jacket is printed on 140gsm matte - this is my favourite paper for jackets as it's not too thick and feels good y'know?
my first time working with holo laminate and definitely not my last. it's a bit of a hit and miss thing to get right but it looks so nice and sparkly. These are just the a4 multipacks you can buy for stickers, I used two sheets and lined them up to get this effect ¨̮
purple head/tail bands and ribbon marker with a star charm to fit the very obvious star theme i had going for me
this pink book cloth that also has blue woven through it was just perfect for this - from thecraftraft on Etsy.
gold htv (vinylfrog maybe) that is a ton of stars and hell to weed on the front and back cover
You can read the fic here on ao3!
i think i'm almost done posting my older binds. i haven't done any in a few months, i went into a creative slump but i think i'm back!

Nevermore Characters and their Poe Inspirations
It’s the winter solstice, so how about something special?
I think everyone knows by now that all* the characters in the Nevermore WEBTOON are based on one or more of Edgar Allan Poe’s works, as well as many of the plot points and items that appear in the webcomic too. (You can check out my post comparing “The Pit and the Pendulum” to Nevermore here: )
But if you don’t follow me here or on Bluesky (please do, I’m very lonely ;-;) you might not know that I’m a teacher! And since one of my walls is, let’s say damaged, I thought I’d cover it up while advertising an excellent webcomic and sharing some of that Poe goodness.
(Warning: Spectre Spoilers!)
Behold!
It’s not the first time I’ve had to make an “English Board” without an actual board, but it did take… an embarrassing amount of time to make considering the quality.
Why?
Because instead of using a magic wand tool to separate characters from their backgrounds, I manually scrubbed each image in Procreate. That’s right, I actually have a problem.
(The real reason is that I’m not a big fan of magic wand feathering and they’re fairly fussy about picking up details. Also, black uniforms on dark backgrounds make it harder for the magic wand to get an accurate selection. And Annabel’s hair. Why did I choose to use a shot with a bright background?)
Anyway, all the characters are from Red and Flynn’s Nevermore and all the QR codes take you to the work the corresponding character is inspired by! I used the Poe Museum’s versions of the short stories and poems, despite the fact that they recently redesigned their website and now it looks atrocious. Like my wordpress level of not very well designed, but they’re an actual museum in Virginia, and I’m a single person.
Here by the way if you want to visit :)
And since just giving you a broad look at the wall isn’t that helpful, here are all the actual “graphics”.
They’re all on Letter/A4 paper size dimensions since I had to print them out, so there are weird margins, but if you want something quick to print out, there you go!
I actually wanted to include backgrounds and borders too, but I was so tired after cleaning the character portraits that I just kind of slapped the elements onto the page. There was also a bit of a time crunch because I wanted to get this out before Season 2, and I’m not exactly a graphic designer :/
Actually, I wanted to print them and then cut out their outlines before laminating so that they retained their full silhouettes, but that kind of defeats the purpose of covering up my poor wall.
Still, the whole process has given me a lot more respect to Flynn for drawing Nevermore. It took me hours to get a single character portrait done. The thought of having to draw all those details dozens of times for a single chapter frightens me.
But I’m very excited for Season 2!
I “had to” reread the entirety of Season 1 looking for good portraits, and let me tell you, there really aren’t that many full body anterior shots in Nevermore. Or at least, a lot less than 108 chapters would suggest. Taking screenshots for this was awful too. A couple of these are actually stitched together from multiple photos.
Anything else?
Oh, I used Georgia as the font. I’m fairly certain it’s what’s used in the webcomic, but all those straight serif fonts really blend together… I thought about using two different fonts, one for the character names, and one for the work names, but again tired.

My local council has set up signs reading “there is hemlock growing here, please don’t mistakenly forage and eat the hemlock because you think it’s cow parsley ” along the river
And these aren’t like, A4 printouts that have been laminated, there’re proper, solid signs. And there’s not just one or two, they’re every ten meters or so.
Which you’d think might be overkill, but I live in a town where you can buy £45 foraging bags on the high street, so they’re probably very needed.

I've been getting into making sketch books from the random junk I've got laying around. I lovingly call them... crap books.
Here's #6 and #7.
Both books are stitch-bound (coptic-ish) and lie flat when opened. Front covers are made from cardboard stock, holographic effect foil and insulation tape.
The A4 one is #6 featuring 16 double-sided pages of rose-tinted 300 gsm watercolour paper (one side rough, one side smooth) and a back cover of paper-laminated polystyrene board.
#7 is the A5 one with 72 double-sided pages of 80 gsm pastel tinted printer paper in 6 different shades and a back cover of painted & varnished carton.

how do i make a photo card
im really bad at explaining but its fairly simple tbh....
imo the most important part is printing the photo in the right paper type (glossy photo paper. or whatever it's called). then on canva on a normal a4 page with frames 5.5 cm x 8.5 cm u can organize the photos u want to print. eg:
thats all + cutting and maybe laminating if u feel like it
#also import the canva file as pdf for printing with the best quality possible....#theres prob a video that explains it better TT#i hope this helps.....

I finally did it: I found the spoons to make an actionable (and semi-gameified) visual representation of spoon theory that I can actually use.
I've been thinking about doing this for months, and I've posted about it once or twice.
But, I finally did it, I made these bad boys for myself:
I have Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Which is to say, my body is very poorly held together, in a lot of pain, easily exhausted, and easily injured. I'm at the point now where I've had every intervention under the sun, nearly a decade of physio, we've found the best pharmacological interventions for me, and...we just have to get by. It's hard, it is, but it's the only mode of existing I know.
Maybe it's because I'm an aphantasiac, maybe it's because I'm (more than) a bit neurodivergent, but spoon theory has always been a little too abstract for me. I grew up on JRPGs (cough final fantasy has me in a choke hold), so putting things into just...stat bars and a table of effects, items, etc is more accessible to my fatigued, pained little brain. This is familiar. This makes sense to me.
Who needs an arbitrary amount of spoons, when you can have 200 HP & MP?
There's twenty notches in between the bars, so I can more accurately knock off health/mp as it ticks down. I teach in a primary school (children who only come up to my hip, mostly!), so you bet I've printed and laminated these, and have them slapped up somewhere I can easily see and access with velcro. If I can't see it? It doesn't exist. I can easily use a dry erase marker to take off my health/mp as I self-evaluate through the day, and start fresh the next.
「 As of this post going live, I've been using this for about a week! The MP drain seems accurate to life give or take, and the HP bar has been a good representation of just...the state of mess I'm in. There are injuries and "real life debuffs" that aren't on the list, but -20HP/-20MP has been a safe bet for those. The A4 is for at home, and one of the A5s follows me to work/out and about in my BUJO! 」
And it's not perfect, of course it's not! I'll probably tweak my board in a month or two. But, maybe just having a list of the things I can do to help myself right in front of me will help. Maybe, being able to show it to my spouse will help them help me better. It's worth a try. Bullet journalling and visual timetables are lifesavers, but they can only communicate so much at once.
I've made a blank version, in the event anyone wants to download it and fill it in for themselves.
This link should let you access a view-only version in canva. I'd imagine you should be able to make a copy and do it yourself! If not, don't hesitate to let me know and I'll try to find a workaround.
Hopefully this might help one or two busy-brained people like me manage their energy and pace their bodies a little bit better. Or, at the very least, give them a starting point for making their own resources.

I've got this set:
to try to run a basic D&D game for Linus and his wee mates who live in our street. It has good reviews and I'm going to prepare for it a bit at a time. It comes with printed pre-made character sheets (an assortment of five characters) and I decided to laminate them so they wouldn't get all crumpled and grubby and we could write on them with dry-erase pen and wipe them off.
The sheets are a bit smaller than A4 (perhaps it's that US Letter paper size?) and we only had A3 laminator pouches, but I had a stroke of genius and in each pouch put one character sheet and alongside it a sheet of blank white paper, so they could not only write on the character sheet but also write any notes they wanted or draw their own picture of their character in that space. (The only downfall of this plan is that the sheets no longer fit into the game box.)
I think that should be fun, don't you? They are very into dragons. There are dragons drawn in sidewalk chalk all over the road outside my house.
