WIPPET SNIPPET!!!
Tumblr media
I'm almost finished with this massive Drarry story + art that I've been working on, and I'm a bit nervous (and so thrilled, really! haha) to share it with you all! To ease into it, here's a little snippet + my Harry for you. I hope you enjoy it! xx
Many thanks to my lovely friends: beta reader @youknowyoudid and alpha reader @dewitty1. Ya'll are keeping me sane as we cross this finish line together! Love ya both, MWAH!
Draco tries to put Potter out of his mind until the object of his thoughts appears in the arts and crafts room.
Potter shuffles in, clad in threadbare joggers, a plain white t-shirt, and a dressing robe, his feet snug in slippers that have seen better days. Despite the late hour, he appears to have just risen from a deep slumber. The telltale signs of medication linger in the slight droop of his eyelids and the sluggishness of his movements. His eyes, however, betray a sharpness, a keenness that sweeps across the room before settling on Draco.
Draco’s hand falters, and the paintbrush he’s holding slips from his fingers, clattering to the floor. He remains rooted to the spot, his gaze locked with Potter’s. There’s an unmistakable tension in the air as Potter slowly advances towards Draco’s Nest, each step measured, each movement deliberate.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” Potter’s voice slices through the air, dripping with disdain, sending a shiver down Draco’s spine.
His words, though slow from the effects of medication, carry an undeniable threat that causes Draco’s heart to slam against his ribcage. He lowers his gaze to the table, his hair falling like a drape to shield him from Potter’s piercing stare. The room feels suffocating; each breath he takes is a struggle against the rising panic and regret threatening to drown him. He grips the edge of the table, his knuckles white, desperate to hold onto the last shreds of his composure in the one place in hospital he thought was safest.

Why didn’t Morse just keep his mouth shut?
Tumblr media
Because I'm still working on Exeunt...
Up until the very end of Exeunt, it really looks like a textbook happy ending for everyone except Morse. Fred is finally free of Lott. The Thursdays will move to Carshall. Sam will be a policeman. Joan is married. Morse will be on his own, but at least he will always know that his clever thinking at Blenheim Vale took out the bad guy. He kept the Thursdays safe and recovered Fred’s life savings.
It’s all just so perfect that I can’t believe there wasn’t a part of Morse that didn’t consider just keeping his mouth shut about who killed Tomahawk...
There had to be a part of him that wanted to pretend he hadn’t figured it out. Because if he hasn’t figured it out, then Fred is still the same man that Morse always thought he was—and the Thursday’s can just move to Carshall and they can stay friends and there will be visits and it will all be ok.
Except if Morse does that, Sam’s life is in danger. For whatever reason (and that reason is never really clear), Morse believes that something still has the potential to lead the Death’s Heads to Sam. It’s not a leap to see that Sam would be even more vulnerable if he steps into the public eye by joining the police.
So Morse isn’t being self-indulgent when he tells Thursday what he knows. He’s not showing off how smart he is or throwing a tantrum because his mentor fell short and he’s disappointed. I think that in a very real sense, he’s choosing to sacrifice the most important relationship in his life for Sam—and by extension, the rest of the Thursdays. Morse is giving up Fred to save them all.
When he then agrees to always watch over Joan and Jim, he gives this little smile. It's because he’s already on the job. That’s what this was all about in the first place.

I understand that tall men are our POV characters, but surely being like a foot taller than everyone around them would have some occasional consequences

as a child there's nothing cooler than a kid who gets subjected to evil experiments and gains special abilities. it's even cooler if these abilities also cause unfathomable suffering to use/against others. children love stories like this.

I'm getting so sick of major female characters in historical media being incredibly feisty, outspoken and public defenders of women's rights with little to no realistic repercussions. Yes it feels like pandering, yes it's unrealistic and takes me out of the story, yes the dialogue almost always rings false - but beyond all that I think it does such a disservice to the women who lived during those periods. I'm not embarrassed of the women in history who didn't use every chance they had to Stick It To The Man. I'm not ashamed of women who were resigned to or enjoyed their lot in life. They weren't letting the side down by not having and representing modern gender ideals. It says a lot about how you view average ordinary women if the idea of one of your main characters behaving like one makes them seem lame and uninteresting to you.

Reading Mockingjay as an adult is extra devastating because. Of course the plucky teenager and her ragtag friends aren't going to sneak into a government building to kill the president with a bow and arrow. That's absolutely ridiculous. It's the kind of thing that's only possible in the kind of propaganda that Coin developed. But she's so good at it that in some ways she tricks the reader into thinking that's the kind of story this is, too--even after 3 books reminding us that pretty much everything that Katniss does the second she volunteers is manipulated by adults pulling strings to make propaganda in some form or another.

listen I know it's heartbreaking that Claudia dies and it's understandable to wish she didn't, but let's please not accuse the writers of fridging her. to do so is a fundamental misunderstanding of the story and is frankly insulting to the intelligence and skill of the writers of the show.
Claudia's death, and the overwhelming grief and regret her parents experience because of it, is quite literally the point of the entire story. she dies because Anne's daughter Michele died of leukemia when she was five years old and there was nothing she or her husband could do to prevent it.
writing IWTV was how Anne coped with the unimaginable loss of a parent losing her child. she created a story about a little girl that could not die and then killed her anyway. Claudia's death is a senseless, unavoidable tragedy, just like Michele's was. the grief that haunts Louis and Lestat for the rest of their lives is the same grief that haunted Anne and her husband.
so when you're accusing people of killing Claudia off to benefit a story about two men, please remember that in real life sometimes parents lose their children. please remember Michele Rice.
Tumblr media
she's the reason Claudia exists.
she's also the reason Claudia cannot be saved.

You see, I feel like there’s an invisible string that ties us together. I mean, what possible reason could there be? I feel like I can’t breathe whenever you’re not around. It’s like the invisible string is the soul between us that keeps me alive.

people who go through the main tags of big and tumultuous fandoms looking for new fresh good posts to reblog are essential to any circle. they’re like true hunter gatherers leaving the safety of settlement and braving the unknown wilderness to find food for the flock. they risk their lives every day and will come back with a few scratches at best and severe psychological damage at worst
