Writer: Jason ReynoldsArtist: Zeke PeñaPublisher: Atheneum/Caitlyn Dlouhy BooksReleased: May 2, 2023Received: NetGalley Goodreads | More Marvel Books Book Summary: Miles Morales is not your typical teenager. He’s been juggling his superpowers with normal teenage aspects for a while, and it still hasn’t gotten any easier. Unfortunately, being a teen and a hero is tough, especially if you want

I do feel like the way Kyoshi was written in the Avatar reboot was lowkey influenced by the fandom's perception of her. Cause like in the original show she's really just portrayed as a pragmatist who's willing to kill if necessary. Like Aang is conflicted about killing the Fire Lord and she's like "well if I were in your position I'd do it but that's just me. Good luck." And then people started making memes where she's like a murderous psychopath who thinks extreme violence is always the solution. And it was funny at first cause it was just exaggerating for comedy but now everyone thinks she was actually like that in the show when she really wasn't. And then in the remake her introductory scene is her angrily yelling at this 12 year old that he needs to stop being a little pussy and be a ruthless warrior or whatever and the only explanation I can think of is that someone in the writer's room maybe looked at a few too many of those memes.
#she had an awesome fight scene though so there's that#disclaimer i own both the kyoshi books but haven't actually read them yet#so this is just going off how she was written in the original show#i'm working my way through all my books that i haven't read yet so i'll get to the avatar novels soon#but i gotta get through a couple more star wars books first lol#but yeah you know those spider-verse memes#where they take the scene where jefferson says ''spider-man why did you create that guy''#and they replace it with some funny dark shit like ''spider-man kill him and his family'' or ''spider-man fuck this guy's ass''#that's basically what people seem to think kyoshi is like#avatar the last airbender#avatar kyoshi#shut up tristan

I think I'm going to expand beyond using BlazBlue characters more often in my parody skits. I've got Konosuba visual novel portraits, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 sprites, Street Fighter III sprites, and green screen mods available for FGs like Mortal Kombat. I might as well try new things.

Like if I showed you these with zero context how shocked would you be that they came from a god damn spider man book. How do I explain to people that this is the same franchise with the silly funny scene in which goofy man dances in the street. I'm so.

Amalgam comics' spider-boy shares a fun fact about clones while at the beach.
I kind of like the trope in science fiction of scientifically created humans not having belly buttons and it would make the entire clone saga drama hilarious if it was the case here too.
If you're confused about spider-boy's left arm, go here.
btw, there's an actual term for this trope here: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/NoNavelNovelBirth

anyways remember when people were like. genuinely honestly convinced that this HAD to be two different characters because... checks notes... the sm2099 3d model that was [Allegedly] slapped together for the stinger of ITSV a couple weeks before the film Released In Theaters doesn't look the same as the 3d model for miguel that an entire team of character designers with input from co-creator rick leonardi made over the past Solid Four Years At Least to feature in a full 2+ hr movie,, dbdbdbdbd
#talking tag#atsv#across the spider-verse#spider-man 2099#spiderman 2099#miguel o'hara#spiderverse#you can see the Rick-fluence(TM) in the atsv model it;s one of the things that Soothes me whenevr i Worry the movie will be [PARANOIA HERE].#like at least we already KNOW it;s gonna be a GORGEOUS film y/k y/k?#dont gotta worry about that at least#but. yeah. if u were one of those folk who said Clearly This Is Not Miguel Because He Looks Kinda Different. give me $20 immediately#not. like. Because of that or anything. i just need $20. new aranya + sm2099 novel came out yknow gotta get that bread somehow /j

Now, I've mostly been making Batfamily related blog posts, but I want to talk a little about something different.
Now, Spider-Man is quite literally my favorite character in not just comics but all of fiction. I just got done reading The Amazing Spider-Man: Parallel Lives, and it was great!
I may say this should be on any essential reading list for anyone interested in Spider-Man, Mary Jane, and their relationship. Also, it should be shown to anyone online before they say anything about MJ. I think this would help stop most of the bad takes and misconceptions people have about her.
I love the two of them together, and this book does a pretty good job at showing why they work.
Also, Doc Ock's in it, and he's used pretty well. It was not his best appearance, but it was still a pretty good one.
Below are just a couple of pages from the story. Read them if you want to, but if you would prefer to go into the story blind, then, of course, don't.

A Mighty Marvel Team-Up — Spider-Man: Quantum Quest! Graphic Novel. Amulet Books, 2024.
Writer and illustrator: Mike Maihack
#Marvel#A Mighty Marvel Team-Up — Spider-Man: Quantum Quest!#Moon Knight#Marc Spector#Moon Girl#Lunella Lafayette#This was the first panel I saw of this graphic novel — completely out of context — and my response was:#that quesadilla tastes like WHAT#but having since found the context it’s explained earlier that since this is the quantum realm where things are a little funky#the Tachyon Tacos truck’s food can taste like pretty much anything you like#anyway this graphic novel is as sweet as sugar and incredibly cute#She-Hulk gets to break the fourth wall#there’s a little easter egg of a book by H. Pym titled «How to Avoid The Quantum Realm»#and it introduced me to some team-up dynamics I never knew I needed#I mean among other things Marc and Lunella just chilling in the Quantum Realm is very cute#overall immensely glad I stumbled on this#(only problem is that now I’m craving basbousa and tea something fierce)
