I love this scene a lot and it lives in my head rent-free. I can't really think of another way to interpret it other than that this is elle telling reid that the reason he can't get a date isn't because of something wrong with him that he needs to change but simply because he doesn't ask people out (or, more broadly, lacks confidence).

I have seen some spencelle shippers read this as elle saying "hey. ask me out" but i disagree, not because i don't ship spencelle (i sort of do, elaboration in the notes) but for the following reasons:

I think elle would have realised very early on that if she was going to wait for reid to ask her out, she would be waiting years

i don't think she gives enough of a fuck about gender roles to wait for The Man to ask her out

she generally seems confident

i lean more towards her being very new to the BAU in the early episodes. I don't recall right now if there's an official anti-fraternization policy or if that's a fanfiction trope, but even if there isn't, entering a relationship with a coworker that early on is an easy way to mess up her career.

i think she was waiting until she was more established to start anything, but then, well, everything happened, and she left before becoming established enough to feel comfortable taking a risk like that

#splashtail #frostpaw #ok i rewatched one of my favorite movies. here is an unrelated asc rewrite i was considering #i think frostpaw could have found out about reedwhisker sooner #splashfrost are still very close as kids but they start drifting apart when frost switches to med training #and either she finds him by chance soon after he kills reedwhisker and he has to manipulate his way through it #OR reed/curl/splash/frost are all in the forest one day for one reason or another #and splash starts instigating reed and they get into a physical fight and he obviously dies #so it's a secret between the 3 of them #and frostpaw knows it was an accident splashtail of course it was. you're my best friend #in the movie the first death was an accident but in this au curl&splash are just fucking with her the whole time!#curl with better intentions than him of course but they're both still leaving her in the dark about why it really happened #and curlfeather still ends up dying too and frostpaw doesn't know what to do because it couldn't have been splashtail. it was an accident #and things just keep getting worse!#this isn't what i think should have happened instead i'm just having fun #this will make more sense if you've seen super dark times. not that it's related

I'm so down bad for Maddox and Ashlyn that my three favourite scenes are:

3. The Redlyn breakup - the chillest break up, Red supporting Ashlyn going after Maddox and the most insane storyline of Red realising he's bi because he kisses Seb

2. Just the entirety of Maddox during opening night - having an existential breakdown over your love life that you break the sound controls and then just give up on your stage manager duties and disappear (probably to help quinn)

1. The confession - a scene I want on repeat: the explanations of how afraid they are of how much they like the other then the "should we just stay friends?" Before having such a love induced make out their just completely ignore Carlos being there. (Also Maddison giving up and telling Maddox to stop coming back to her when she clearly likes Ashlyn... my baby just needed that push)

I love all my queer children but these two are the wlw so I love them just slightly more.
