#911-Glee crossover

Id like to use this post as my pitch on how I think Ryan Murphy should create a 911/Glee crossover.

Should every glee character cross over? no. they’re all grown up, some of the characters clearly have a double life in 911. But out of all the characters, I think the only two who should crossover (whose actors has not made a new appearance on 911 as of yet) should be Blaine and Kurt.

Klaine was a huge ship for a tv show in 2009-2015 when same sex relationships wasn’t socially accepted yet. But Ryan Murphy did it anyways which lead to (helped contribute) a whole new community form (LGBTQ+) in a new light.

Now years later, here we have Buck and Eddie. Buddie, who lots of fans passionately want to see them be together. Now in an age where same sex relationships ARE socially acceptable, yet we’re just not getting this ship yet.

I think it would be cool to have Blaine and Kurt, years later- still married with kids- come in and somehow influence Buck and Eddie to make the final push to be together. (either purposely or by total accident.)

and of course, a song sung by Kurt and Blaine. obviously.

You’re a glee fan so I figured it’s my duty to ask you (if you haven’t already) to give us your headcanon as to what songs each 911 character could have as a solo, and (if you want to) what context is behind it. Or if it’s easier, what duet can you see the 911 couples having

(small disclaimer because I do not think I am overly good at this lmao, but I can try)

Not something I see them breaking into in the middle of the show, but a song I imagine them fitting / singing and feeling reflected in it.

I will just do it in alphabetical order, I guess. Also, just mains for characters because otherwise my head will maybe explode. And last disclaimer - some songs are very mainstream, but I will try to choose some not as popular songs, for funsies:

Evan Buckley: my sweet, sweet summer child. I think he is the walking embodiment of Matilda, by Harry Styles. Maybe an easy pick here, but my God, I hear it and it's like: this is Buck. It perfectly encapsulates what he is and his journey to come to the 118, and it is such a soft song. I am biased because it is one of my favorite songs, but I think it applies haha.

Eddie Diaz: Had a hard time with him.There is this beautiful song that I already apologise for mentioning, because it did make me cry the first time I heard it. But how to grieve, by simon robert french is gorgeous. After his SL this season with Shannon, I do feel this fits him. Even, I can see this applied to Chris as well. (apologies)

Chimney Han: Don't know why, but I cannot help but think of Everybody Wants to Rule the World, by Tears for Fears. The song just screams Chimney (to me) and also, I totally can see himself singing this and killing it.

Maddie Han: maybe it is because I've been on a Fleetwood Mac kick lately, but I would choose Landslide for Maddie. I think the lyrics do fit her very well, and honestly, I think the song would fit JHL's voice beautifully.

Bobby Nash: Wave After Wave, by Sleeping at Last, comes to mind rn. Very introspective, I do think of Bobby if I listen to it.

Athena Grant-Nash: I am unable to think of a more fitting song than Rise Up, by Andra Day. What can I say, the begins episode really nailed it. Like, that is Athena's song. And if I ever heard her singing it I'd be a puddle of tears.

Hen Wilson: I can see her singing Under Pressure around the time of 602 (I may misremember, but maybe it was actually used in the ep?). Other than that, top of my head she by dodie makes me think of her, but I don't know if she would sign it.

I haven't done recurring because this took me long enough lol, but for couples (I am only doing canon, sorry, if I start with friendships and families I won't ever end, and this is long enough already). Alphabetical order:

Bathena: Lowkey The Lighthouse Keeper, by Sam Smith. I think they were each other's saving grace, and have kept being so during their whole relationship. Also side note I have seen in some places this is a Christmas song? I hear it outside of Christmas, so if it is let's ignore it (thanks!).

BuckTommy: I am going to say Tireswing Song by Corrina. I am trying not to go too mainstream here. I do think it speaks well of the hope of a promising new relationship.

Henren: Don't know why, but Would that I by Hozier, maybe. Do I see them singing it? Perhaps not. But the reverential tone of it - very much reminds me of Henren.

Madney: I am trying to go for sort-of unknown songs with this one. I think Ophelia by Roo Panes fits them well. It is a soft song that speaks on how they see hope in each other. Don't know if I am way too off-base, but it reminds me of them.

And to add:

Buckley Siblings: Lastly, I am sorry, I cannot help myself, they are my favorite TV siblings. Also, I have multiple options haha. I always think of The Exit by Conan Gray as their song, ever since I saw an edit of them using it. It fits insanely well. Also everything I wanted by Billie Eilish. She did write it with her brother in mind, and I can't help but thinking of the Buckley siblings for that. Birds of a Feather lowkey makes me think of them as well.

I had a lot of fun with this ask haha and I did warn you I am not overly good at this, but here is my attempt at it! Also I do tend to go for softer songs, which I think might be a bit evident by now haha. Oops.

"The amount of cases he's solved is crazy. And—! He even uncovered a dinosaur skeleton. I've been meaning to drive to Santa Barbara to see it. Maybe I'll take Christopher—” "A psychic detective," Eddie repeats, having barely processed anything else Buck had said. He chuckles. “You can't—you can't seriously think this is real.” “Eddie, he's been working with the SBPD for years. Don't you think if he was a fake they would've found out by now?” Buck asks, and his voice sounds so genuine Eddie kind of wants to cry. “Buck. Buck. Magic isn't real. There is no way that he's actually psychic. It's a publicity stunt! Makes the SBPD stand out or something.” “Just you wait and see Eds. Once you meet him, you'll have to believe it.” Buck says, pointing at Eddie with the most obnoxious grin on his face. Eddie can't help but feel fond at the sight of it. Sure Buck’s an idiot, but at least he's a cute one. Eddie gives up on having this argument with him. No matter what Buck says, he won't be convinced. They couldn't convince him with the jinxes (although some small part of him is still slightly freaked out about that) and they won't convince him with this psychic detective, not even if he's the most sophisticated all-knowing person ever. ~*~ “Gus, how many burritos do you think I can fit in my mouth? My money's on six, but maybe if I shove them in horizontally…” He reaches over to grab the cooler from beside Gus in the back seat, but Jules slaps his hand away. “Shawn, seriously? Those burritos are for everyone.” Shawn huffs, crossing his arms with a pout. “Yeah well, we've been in this car for hours, and I'm starving to death.” “It's been an hour Shawn,” Gus’ voice pops up from the backseat and Shawn shoots him a betrayed look. “Whose side are you on?!” Gus tilts his head. “The side that makes sure that I still have some burritos for myself.” He then opens up the same cooler that Shawn was just trying to reach into, and pulls out a perfectly tinfoil wrapped burrito that he delicately peels away. His eyes are alight with glee as he unhinges his jaw and prepares to take the biggest bite known to man, when Shawn twists around in his seat and grips Gus’ arm, pulling it and the burrito away from his mouth. “That burrito is mine sucker!” Shawn calls out, trying to take the burrito for himself. “Oh no you don't, Shawn!!” The two of them struggle back and forth, causing the car to shake slightly, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that Gus is a backstabber and Shawn needs his burrito! “Guys!” Jules’ voice calls out sharp, and the two of them freeze—Gus’ left hand smushed into Shawn's face, and Shawn’s free hand gripping Gus’ throat in a chokehold, their other hands wrapped tightly around the burrito in a tug of war. She outstretches her right hand, keeping her left hand on the wheel, and makes a grabbing motion. The two of them dejectedly give the burrito into her palm and she huffs, smiling. “Thank you. We have one more hour to go. You can both eat one burrito, okay? The rest are for when we get there.” She then takes a satisfied chomp of the burrito in her hand.

How many works do you have on ao3?

96 on my main and 22 on my secondary, but i've orphaned at least another, idk, 60? over the years, and there's some fics lost to the chasm of time that is livejournal and prior out there to never be found again.

What’s your total word count?

What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

then you'll wake up, your left hand man, pocketful of sunshine, only by chance, when there's no ground. all are shadowhunters/mortal instruments fic, which is a surprise to exactly no one.

Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?

i do initially, and then i am terrible for not replying after a certain time which is something i'm working on. it's entirely an anxiety thing, and very silly, but if i don't answer right away i feel like it's too late? idk, i'm trying to be better at it.

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

i'm not known for my angst, let's be honest, so i'm going to put end of eras (haunting of hill house, luke & nell) here because it's hohh, angst is a given, and also mayyyyybe still my heart this moment and tell me you'll remember (both glee, sam/blaine) which also deal with character death but, like? in a not totally sad way? one's ghosts and one's immortality/reincarnation soooo. i think they count.

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?

as a happy ending truther, this could apply to practically all of them, but let's go with be in my book (bridgerton, penelope/benedict) which is about as fluffy a fic as they come.

Do you write crossovers?

i used to, back in the wild old days of comment ficathons and crossover comms on lj, but i haven't in years. definitely would, just would have to really think it through now.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

once that i can think of, which was very silly and obviously sent by someone who was deliberately reading fic they weren't going to enjoy.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

i have been known to, on very rare occasions. my most recently posted fic is actually 911 buck/tommy smut (find peace in the noise) which i wrote almost entirely because of the group chat. it's not necessarily my go-to, but if the mood strikes.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

yes.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

yes, a couple.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

not in years, but i used to co-write a lot with a friend in the lj days. i'm not fantastic at co-writing, if only because i am useless with time management.

What's your all-time favourite ship?

i'm not sure i have an answer to this. i sort of just collect ultimate otps and store them and they pile up, so i don't have just one. some i come back to more often than others, but i've definitely been in too many fandoms to have any less than a dozen.

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

oh boy, yeah, any? all? i am notoriously bad about this. if i don't write a fic to completion and then post it, the chance of it getting finished are nil. i have one wip on my ao3 (build it better (the second time around), the order, knights poly) that i started before the second season had aired, and every part of me wants to finish it but...we'll see. maybe one day. the part written docs on my computer for dozens of other fics though? coin toss.

What are your writing strengths?

i think i'm pretty good at characterisation. i like how i write dialogue. i think i'm able to say a lot in few words. other than that, who knows. i have a blast with it most the time? that's definitely a strength.

What are your writing weaknesses?

actually sitting down and writing, let's be honest. but otherwise, long fic and plotting are definitely not things i'm great at. i'm trying to get better at extending my word count, but detailed plots still largely elude me.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

i try not to, as i am - alas - a lazy english speaker who never picked up another language remotely fluently. and no one trusts online translation tools.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

either buffy or hp, i can't remember exactly.

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?

i am currently working on some jack/kent (check please) fics (finally - they are one of the dozen that fits into that otp question), which feels terrifying because i love them so much. i also have a couple of stranger things fics i'm thinking about.

i'm notorious for dropping one fic in a fandom and then nothing else ever again, so i'll write for pretty much anything.

What's your favourite fic you've written?

though the truth may vary (shadowhunters, simon/raphael). (i actually started an author's favourites series on ao3 a while back which felt huge, and i've only put four fics in it, oops.)

plot lmao. i am Not creative enough for plot-driven stories at all. she's a character-driven story girl all the way

I don't really???? have any thoughts?????? if it's relevant for the story? cool, sure, go for it!! but unless the character is a fluent irish speaker it's not something i'll be writing any time soon lmao

for 911 i'd say i'm someone you maybe might love,  Say Anything...As Long As It's I Love You, nobody knows you, baby, the way i do and Close Enough for Comfort are my personal faves just in terms of emotion/love confessions/descriptions/characterisation etc.

I read 677 fics last year and here are my favorite fics from last year. These are in order of when I read them:

close my eyes and stumble (right into your love) by hmslusitania (buck/eddie, 911)

Eddie's PTSD is just that little bit worse and when he moves to Los Angeles, instead of joining the LAFD, he joins dispatch. Which is all good and fine, except for this one firefighter he keeps ending up talking to.

THIS IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BUDDIE FICS. It's just so good, and it just works so well. Them getting to know each other under fairly normal circumstances and the way Buck heals himself, it's just beautiful.

2. it was the end of a decade, but the start of an age by ForForever19 (olivia/original female character, svu)

'Olivia Benson has a tally. Of all the people who have left her, whether they've died or left willingly. One even managed to do both at the same time. The list, by anyone's standards, is far too long, and she repeatedly asks herself how she's managed to survive this long.' OR Olivia finally, finally gets a hug. Well, eventually.

THIS IS SO GOOD. It lets Olivia heal from her trauma, find love and someone who finally puts her first. It gives her closure with Elliot. Just perfect. Starts after the 500th episode.

3. fallingwater by morningsound15 (casey/izzie, atypical)

“I don’t want you to be sorry, Casey. I want you to tell me what’s going on with you. I want my girlfriend to be honest with me.” “I’m not, though.” “You’re not what? Honest?” “Your girlfriend.” A brick, heavy in Izzie’s stomach for the last fifteen minutes, sinks deeper. “Oh,” she says. “So you are breaking up with me.” “No!” Casey is quick to correct. “No, I’m not breaking up with you.” A hand through Casey’s hair, rough and pulling at the already disheveled ponytail. “I’m saying this all wrong.” “What are you trying to say? You aren’t my girlfriend anymore but we aren’t breaking up? That doesn’t make any sense.” “I’m not—” A beat. Casey takes a breath, a deep shudder. Finally, quietly: “I’m not a girl."

Need no words. Just read.

4. Orchards by winlatter (ginny/harry, harry potter)

The orchard is a wild, thousand-flower, crumpled-gate, fall-down-fence sort of place, where things grow that you never asked for, that you’d never expect. The summer of ’96, the story of something flowery he thought he might have smelled at the Burrow.

This is the best piece of HG fanfiction I have ever read, and I read over 3 million words of HG fanfiction just in 2024. If you like them, this is a must read, if you don't, give it a chance and maybe you will. this covers the gap of that summer so well, and shows how ginny went from ron's little sister to someone harry finds himself romantically interested in.

5. to move with purpose by missgoalie75 (jess/rory, gilmore girls)

Rory doesn't say no to Jess and they proceed to spend the summer together, traveling from New York City to Venice Beach on an impromptu road trip.

Beautiful. Perfect.

6. Operation red dawn by antigvne (teddy/nathan, grey's anatomy)

"See, the thing is, she meets Riggs first." (or, teddy, owen, riggs, and megan in iraq, pre-series)

this fic changed me. it's written prior to the alison reveal but still works pretty well in canon.

7. when may met sally by seekrest (may parker & sally jackson, percy jackson & mcu crossover)

“What’s your name?” “Sally. Jackson,” she says, cheeks flushing in gratitude as she shakes the woman’s hands. “May Parker,” she replies warmly, taking her hand then clasping it with the other. “You’re gonna be fine.” Sally laughs. “I hope so.” Or, Sally, May and their two boys in New York.

this needs to be experienced. just beware it is canon compatible with the mcu, so the ending does hurt like a bitch, but it's so worth it.

8. i don't mind waiting (if it's for you) by princessfbi (buck/eddie, 911)

“Victim is Charles Dumont. Three gunshot wounds to the chest. Looks like an attempted robbery. There was a case of bourbon with a bottle missing and we found Charlie’s wallet tossed a few blocks from here. And Eddie?” Athena stopped just as she got to the door and turned him with a serious expression on her face. “There’s a witness.”  Her frown dipped under the professional mask she was known for and Eddie caught the flicker of concern pulling at her composure. “You know him?”  Athena pressed her lips into a tight line and nodded.  “Evan Buckley. He’s the bartender here. He was helping Charlie restock tonight when he heard a noise and saw it happen.”   Homicide Detective, Eddie Diaz, is called in to investigate the murder of a local shield and ladder bar owner. There he meets his only witness, Evan "Buck" Buckley.   AKA The Trashy Romance Novel Murder Mystery Buddie AU AKA Detective!Eddie Diaz and Bartender!Evan "Buck" Buckley

THIS IS SUCH A GOOD FIC. The characterization is spot on, the case is pretty interesting and the dialogue is just fantastic.

9. Second time around series by portraitofemmy & rizandace

On the morning after the worst day of Michael Guerin’s life, he wakes up in the last place he expects to be—in 2007, on the first day of senior year. Armed with knowledge of a future he now desperately hopes to change, Michael must retrace the steps of his past, as he builds a better future for himself, his family, and the man he loves. With the help of their loved ones, Michael and Alex find themselves presented with something almost no one gets: a second chance to get things right.

I am a slut for time travel fix it fics, but this just takes the cake. It also has a really interesting spin on it, I don't feel like spoiling. This is a series, of so far nearly 400k and it's not completed. I don't know if it will be, but as it is it ends at a pretty decent ending point.

10. but i've got a plan by the memoriesoffire (brittany/quinn, glee)

For anon, who wanted "Brittany comforts Quinn on her fat day" and got a Season 1 AU.

Just read it. I always get suprised when i find older sq fics i haven't read that are this good. it's everything i wanted for 3b and surprisingly enough everything i wanted for a camelot arc to.

Her gut drops like a hot weight as she remembers the exact words Maura used before she ran out the door and back to the precinct. Wife.

I'm really picky with my rizzles fic and this just hit all the right spots for me. jane's internalized homophobia is especially excellently handled in this one.

14. tell me about despair by hattalove (buck/eddie, 911)

eddie's not entirely sure he believes in getting help, at least not for himself. there's only so much healing to be had for a body torn apart by bullets, for a mind that's only half there, for a man who's been leaving pieces of himself behind all his life with nothing to take their place. except, as it turns out, falling apart happens in increments, and healing does, too: it happens when you gnaw a hole in your lip trying to keep quiet only to have the words escape; when you realize that the ghost you've been seeing out of the corner of your eye is yourself; when your best friend smiles, and you allow it to take your breath away. it happens through the smallest of things: bird feeders, and cacti, and pasta shapes. meanwhile, the world goes on. (or: the entity often affectionately referred to as the unrepression fic.)

Adora is an Astrophysics PhD student who just can’t seem to write her dissertation. When the opportunity arises to work at the IceCube Neutrino Detector at the South Pole, she jumps at the chance, even though she’ll be stuck there for six months during the Antarctic Winter. When she arrives, she discovers that her research partner is her former roommate, former teammate, former best friend, former, well, everything, who she hasn’t seen since they graduated from college five years ago.

I don't even really go here and this was still one the best experiences i have ever had reading fanfiction.

16. tell the truth (but tell it slant) by susiecarter

It takes a while for Batman and Superman to work things out, once Clark comes back from the dead. Pretending to date each other in order to explain why Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent are in the same place so often? Doesn't help as much as you might think.

I definitely don't go here and yet, this is in my top ten fics i have probably ever read. it made me fall in love with this couple, and the writing is just so good.

17. 30 miles east by teamsciencenerds (sam/alex, supergirl)

Alex realizes that she's spiraling out of control, so she drives to a suburb of National City and goes to an AA meeting, and that's where she meets Sam Arias. or Alex convinces herself to go to one AA meeting and now she's making a pie to bring to a barbecue, lying to Kara about where she keeps sneaking off to, and accidentally falling in love with a woman who drives a minivan.

I don't know how many times I have reread this. It's so so so very good.

18. waves (it comes and goes) by sunspell80 (buck/eddie, 911)

Evan Buckley left his past behind when he left home for good at age 19. But an unexpected phone call on a quiet shift disrupts the life he's built for himself: forcing him to confront his past in order to build a new future.

This fic hurts, but in all the right places. Both this and the sequel are hard to read but in the ways that you sometimes need. beware the tags!

19. write this down by mysteriesoflove (dan/blair, gossip girl)

“I am so going to regret asking, but—what exactly are you getting at, Blair?” Blair takes a deep breath, sitting up straight, and lets it all come out in a rush: “Come with me to Paris and pretend to be my boyfriend.”

I'm stil on this train, and i will not be leaving thank you very much. all of mysteryofloves stuff is excellent, but this fic made me laugh, cry and feel all the things.

20. with great power comes... a bunch of weird shit by c_and_b (lena/kara, supergirl)

lena gets bitten by a spider and things get a little crazy from there - if only because she starts interacting with her longtime crush kara danvers way more than ever

spider-man!au, absolutely hilarious.

21.  wrapped in books (series) by robinbuckley (jess/rory, gilmore girls)

Tolstoy whispers, He felt now that he was not simply close to her, but that he did not know where he ended and she began, and Jess sinks deeper into the love he’s been wrought with like a cancer ever since she said I’m Rory and he said I know. or: the one where rory stays broken up with logan after the three bridesmaids, and the open house at truncheon goes a lot differently.

i would rec all of robinbuckey's literati fic if i could, but i recced two last year as well. this is probably my favorite in canon/canon divergence fic of hers. it just works so very well. (and also, spoiler, but it gets the original planned gg ending and makes sense so that's a bonus)

22. The Last Something That Meant Anything by anonymous (percy weasley-centric, harry potter)

He's never felt like he stood much of a chance. alternatively, A timeline of events in the life of one Percy Ignatius Weasley. Before, during, and after the war.

i've never been much of a percy fan, this changed that. it's so so so very good. beware the tags tho.

23. the ashes left behind by freelancerrh (pacey/joey, dawson's creek)

The fire spread. The roof collapsed. The aftermath awaits.

I recced their other fic last year, but this one is better. it's absolutely heartbreaking. and it hurts. so much. but it's so well written and worth every ounce of pain it brings.

24. hunters and prey by northumbrian (harry potter, mostly gen)

February 2000 Newly Qualified (in record time) Auror Harry Potter remains obsessed with “The List.” The ten people still wanted for their part in the Battle of Hogwarts. Their capture is essential. It will bring closure to the events of the past few years. Harry has set himself a target. He wants to see “The Last Death Eater” and the other nine captured before the second anniversary of the battle. His attempts to meet his target will bring heartbreak, danger, pain, and a lifechanging injury for one former DA member.

all of his stuff is excellent, everyone who has read canon compliant post-hogwarts stuff knows this. but this fic. just i read it in one sitting and its over 120k long. it captivated me.

DH Spoilers Was it possible to save two lives without altering history? Was it possible to given them a future twenty years after they had supposedly died? Teddy Lupin thought so

what cursed child should have been.

26. home is where i want to be (but i guess i'm already there) by percivaljackson (annabeth/percy, percy jackson)

“Annabeth panic-lied to her step-mom about being in a quote ‘stable and emotionally available’ relationship, and now she has to bring her imaginary lover home for New Year’s,” Piper explains, bringing her hands up behind her head and looking thoroughly amused. Jason nods, like this is a totally average occurrence. “You should bring Percy.” “That’s what I said,” Leo interjects. Annabeth buries her face in her hands.

i usually avoid no powers/no demi-god percabeth au's like the plague but this one just surprised me. it's such a good annabeth character study.

27. the dogfather (series) by hollimichelle

“I’m not a reverse werewolf either,” says the man. “I’m your godfather.”

the dursley's abandons harry and he gets adopted by muggles. it's such a good story. also sirius (and eventually remus) is there.

28. proof by orphan_account (harry potter, gen)

"Proofing, also sometimes called final fermentation, is the specific term for allowing dough to rise after it has been shaped and before it is baked." Less than a year has passed since the final battle, and the Ministry is already up to its old tricks. Harry would very much like them to stop ignoring due process, tossing people in Azkaban, controlling the press, and menacing the populace with dementors. He would also like, if at all possible, to bake a passable loaf of bread.

fucking perfect post-battle fic that deals with the immense amount of trauma that boy went through.

She knew it was probably for the best, the fact that she never had children, especially when Lily had been good at laughing and singing and seeing the best in people and Petunia was sour and panicked and never knew what to do. She wasn’t Lily. That much was true. But she was all Harry had. She would have to do. *** Petunia Evans never wanted to be involved in the wizarding war. But when her sister saves her from her terrible fiance, she begins to bake for the young soldiers of the first wizarding war. She knows nothing about what they're fighting for, but cares for witches and wizards for the sake of her sister. And then, when her nephew turns up on her doorstep, Lily and James dead, Petunia does all she knows how to do. She cares for Harry Potter as though he is her own.

this fic made me cry actual tears.

perfect post canon fic of josie and hope finding their way (back) together.

prison comedy, told out of order and out of line. lexa has the worst prison id number ever, raven needs to expand her vocabulary, clarke can't mop, and putting octavia behind the kitchen line is tantamount to reckless endangerment. complete.

fucking hilarious. just the best.

And, if all that wasn't enough, he's wearing a fucking backwards baseball cap which Eddie didn't know was a Thing for him until right at this moment. It should probably make the guy look douche-y, but the blinding grin on the guy's face is too reminiscent of the way a golden retriever's tongue lolls out of its mouth to do anything but add to the effect of Buck. Oh, fuck. "Hey, what can I get you?" Buck asks, pulling a pencil from behind his ear. "Uh..." Eddie's mouth is suddenly very, very dry. Buck purses his lips and ducks his head, blushing like he knows exactly what Eddie's thinking. "Coffee?" He raises an eyebrow and Eddie has to physically turn his head away from the pink birthmark over his eye. "Please." He croaks. (OR: Eddie Diaz needs to get away from his divorce and his stifling parents, so he moves away to a tiny town called Star's Hollow.)

wonderful au. perfect found family. all the cozy vibes.

this is a fandom bible for a reason. i don't really want to say to much, because not knowing exactly what to expect is what made me love this fic so much.

Come hell or high water, Eliot is going to figure this out.

38. mercurial high (a goddamn blaze in the dark) by lizwas (dan/blair, gossip girl)

Dan loves in a way that’s meant for daylight: hand holding and art galleries and cups of coffee and handwritten pages. Blair can only offer shadows. The dark end of the street.

angsty and beautiful, and a wonderful character study of blair.

39. the things i did by lolo_row (remus/sirius, harry potter)

. . . …Just so I could call you mine. (In which Remus Lupin rightfully deduces that something fishy is going on and refuses to (1) allow Sirius Black to rot in Azkaban for a crime he didn't commit, and (2) allow Harry to be neglected by his horrible Muggle relatives.)

i'm somehow ever more picky about wolfstar fics because most of the newer stuff rubs me the wrong way, but i will always always always read stuff where remus and/or sirius raises harry and this is one of the best ones i have read.

40. if it wasn't for second chances by alasse (buck & bobby, buck/eddie, 911)

When Buck doesn’t save Daniel, the Buckleys put him in foster care. Seventeen years later, Bobby meets a tall, lanky kid who can’t stop eating his pancakes at a church breakfast, and he gives him a phone number and an unconditional offer of help. A story about how Buck finds a chosen family, and with a few twists and turns, eventually gets to the 118, meets Eddie Diaz, and maybe finds himself a second and a third (or, an Evan Nash story).

hands down the best evan nash story there is. i love how in canon it is. also bobby's family is gold in this one.

41. ice cream before dinner by cloudydaisies

Missing Chris is less of an emotion these days and more of a physical entity. He’s sure everyone can see that he’s slowly hollowing himself out, that he can’t do much of anything else. But when Jee laughs at him trying to get his tongue to touch his nose, and Mara loops one of her arms through his to keep him from tossing the rest of his cup in the garbage, Eddie feels solid again. Maybe he likes yellow birthday cake ice cream after all. (or, gerrard messes with the team's schedules and eddie 'i just drove my son to flee the state' diaz is the only option to watch mara and jee-yun after school on tuesdays, which, shouldn't be a problem at all, right?)

this became a fandom favorite in record time for a reason. holy shit it's good.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I tend to favour happier endings but I guess I could say that Rumours has an angsty ended, what with both of the characters dead. Although it was at the end of a long and happy life together so... not that angsty?

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? They're all happy, but all of my FirstPrince ones will have the happiest of happy endings for Henry because he deserves more than anything.

Do you get hate on fics? Not really. Closest I got was people basically yelling at me for not doing a thing in a fic which I'd outlined in part 2? 3? could never happen. So lots of "WHY DON'T YOU WRITE THIS?" and me going, "...because I won't?"

Do you write smut? I dabble. More of a fade to black kinda girl.

Have you ever had a fic translated? I have, and being asked was the biggest honour ever.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language? If it works, then I will do it. Fun fact: I once had a couple of characters have a conversation in front of the two main characters in French. I deliberately didn't provide a translation because one of the two didn't know what was being said and the reveal wouldn't come until the next part. Got yelled at for that too. (Like, the internet is right there.)

First fandom you wrote in? Like... ever? Lord knows.

Favourite fic you've written? I've got ones I'm really proud of for various reasons. Vows (Glee) because it was the first big one I'd done and it landed REALLY well, Exponential (Emmerdale) because it was structurally a challenge, In the burned house I am eating breakfast (911 Lone Star) because, well, I just love it.

With just over a day left to sign up as a creator for Fandom Trumps Hate 2023, here's a quick roundup of all of the numbers:

We have 705 offers by 527 creators (I've had to update this three times while writing this post!). Of those, 97 are offering to work in ANY fandom! The rest have signed up offering fanworks in 273 fandoms, including 177 write-in fandoms! (To compare that with roughly the same time last year, as we approached 24 hours left to sign up for FTH2022 we had 680 offers from 525 creators in 257 fandoms including 153 write-ins … meaning we have 23 more offers in 16 more fandoms by the same number of creators for 2023 … SO FAR.)

In our listed fandoms Good Omens has increased its lead and its lock on the top spot. MCU caught up with Sherlock and Teen Wolf for a brief 3-way tie for 4th place behind HP and K-pop, but has since gained an additional signup to claim that spot, leaving Sherlock and Teen Wolf tied for fifth ahead of Star Wars, Stranger things, SVSSS, The Untamed, and The Sandman.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Glances at my Glee fics...uhm. Yeah I don't shy away from ambigious endings but I feel like the Tarlos fandom would have my head lol. But hey there is In your corner that does have a pretty sad foreboding ending (but it's part of a series so it doesn't really count)

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Maybe The kind you can't get away from and you could say there is multiple happy endings in In the dark ;)))

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Only unkind 'criticism'

Oh almost always sprinkle it in if it fits. I mean I have a whole D/s series I guess you can tell what kind I write.

I don't and don't really like them.

Nein. And I definitely don't want to translate my own.

Not yet but planning to. I think collaborating can be so fun. <3 Anyone hit me up and we'll see if we can work something out.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

For now it's Tarlos. Still get giggly watching Klaine scene and reading Kurtbastian scenes and find other on-screen couples cute but never go crazy about them like I did for those.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

The WIP of how Carlos feels about Owen and then how TK feels about Gabriel.

16. What are your writing strengths?

................I write daily? Like I don't hate my writing at all, I'm proud of it, but not sure one thing sticks out above anything else. Decent smut? idk.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Sticking to a single theme. I have so many ideas I want to follow and then I do only to realize.....nope that doesn't work. I'm very intuitive as a writer which is a lot of fun but not necessarily lends itself to good story arcs or good storytelling.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I personally like it a lot. I even like googling to find out what it says if there's no translation.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Naruto. But in German.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

Weirdly enough the Kurtbastian fic I wrote for Nanowrimo last year and now is 100k gathering dust because Tarlos took over my life. But I think I romantice it because it was the first writing I had done in 6 years and I fell back in love with writing. I'm sure I have better fics. I'm also really proud of The kind you can't get away from and Take my hand take my whole life too

Mostly it is just people kindly pointing out that they can tell im british (listen pls…..i will sacrifice so much including pavement and rubbish bin but u will have to prise my british spelling out of my cold dead hands.)

LMFAOO definitely not where would i even begin. i have written 1 sex scene ever and it took me about 2 weeks

do you have any recs for 'new (to me) fandom'? i have been reading fic for over 20 years so i have read in pretty much all the big fandoms. i don't wanna pick a random fic thought, because i have been reading fic for so long that i like my fics GOOD.

would prefer slash and 5000-10000 words. it's probably gonna need to come from a smaller fandom.

fandosm i've read in: bandom (think when FOB and MCR was big), glee, bts, supernatural, kpop, harry potter, 911, SVU, marvel, sherlock holmes, dr. who, young royals, heartstopper, adam lambert, lord of the rings, ect.
