The secret is out. I watch 9-1-1. At first I tuned in because I thought it was about 9/11, for obvious reasons, but I stuck around for the found family. I ship bathena. For obvious reasons.

I hope that no one takes the posts that I reblogged as meaning that I don't care about what happened on 9/11 in the USA. I remember being 3 years old and watching television and not understanding what was happening but crying when I saw so much suffering.
However, I do believe that it is important to give MUCH more visibility to the military coup in Chile than what the media gives it on this date (Both happened on the same day, different years). It is worrying how the entire world only talks about what happened in the USA while many, including the gringos themselves, do not even know what their own government did not only in Chile but throughout Latin America. The millions of dead and missing people that affect us to this day. Look for Operation Condor if want to know what happened here not that long ago.
"Never forget" seems like a phrase only applicable to the United States and the rest of the "first world", while the crimes committed here by their imperialist governments seem irrelevant in their school history books.

Both Eddie and the show are acting as though there are only two possibilities for Eddie when it comes to Chris. Stay in LA and miss out on his life. Or move to Texas. When there is a very valid and correct third option, of Eddie going to Texas, having it out with his parents and his son and bring Chris back home. Where they both belong.
And I hope someone knocks some sense into him and reminds him of this. Ideally Maddie or Athena, or the absolutely glorious option of Karen.
I just know it won't be Buck. Because he would set himself on fire to keep Eddie warm even if it burns them both to the ground. And he is also in his own spiral. His ability to think clearly is even worse than Eddie's right now.

(There's an extra answer at the bottom that should have been 2nd instead of 12th, but I can't edit it in)
*NYC metro area is NYC, Long Island, about half of NJ, and several counties in CT and the absolute bottom of "upstate" NY. You can look up a map if you're unsure.
**That is to say, you were a journalist, worked in international relations, were in an airline as a pilot or flight attendant, and so on. Basically, you were told with urgency because everyone knew you were going to be involved in the ramifications for the foreseeable future, regardless of WHERE you lived.
EDIT: Someone pointed out that this doesn't include the Pentagon, so those of you in that zone can hop in on metro area.
"Nearby" means Canada, and MAYBE Mexico or the Bahamas. I'll leave it up to you to decide for the Caribbean, but Europe does NOT count.
I was just under six years old and it's one of my earliest clear memories because I was living in Queens at time, so it impacted almost everyone I knew very directly. I had been really excited that morning because it was my friend's birthday, and all that excitement got quashed as inappropriate because of the Events.

genuinely curious: was that hair person not talking about a similar event that happened literally on 9/11 when most people got to leave work and school and she was unable to? it seems like her kids are old and have their own kids.
Okay, now that I've re-read it, I do see that that's what they're saying.
But there was crew posting photos on the lot today and other people in the comments of that post mentioning 911 in the context of the show and Ryan Murphy.

i hate that this is a controversial take but i don't find 9/11 jokes funny. making fun of the victims of a terrorist attack isn't edgy or amusing nor is it some sort of incisive intellectual political commentary. it's just pathetic and cruel.
and no. there is no excuse. ever. it's not ok to do it with victims of 9/11 or of any other terrorist attack. just like it's not ok to act like that about victims of any other horrific violence - whether it's a school shooting or a serial killer's murder spree etc.
people try to justify their cruelty in various ways but it's all lies. you're not critiquing US foreign policy. you could do that any time. but no. it's crickets from you the whole rest of the year until it's time to mock a day set aside to remember innocent victims of a tragedy. and then suddenly you've got lot's to say. that is not a policy critique. it's just vile.
and then you try to act like anyone who calls you on your behavior is stopping you from engaging in legitimate political discourse when that isn't what's happening. you're just a bully who is trying to use faux activist catchphrases to shield yourself when you got called out.
murder isn't funny. terrorism isn't funny. the death of innocents isn't funny. just like it's not funny when it's a school shooting.
it's not funny when it happens to people in Istanbul or in Riyadh. and it's not funny when it happens in New York either.
