Now, when it comes to Carlos moving forward after that, we get a taste of that in the final scene of the episode, of him visiting his father’s grave. “Really, it’s like he can be a full human being again,” Raisani previews. “He hasn’t been able to be a person since this happened. He’s been in this tiny little box. In these last few episodes, his heart gets bigger and he gets more human. He’s still a Texas Ranger and all that, but I think you’ll see a softness and a warmth from Carlos that you haven’t seen from him since before his dad died.”

Episode 9 was Young’s last on the show, and Raisani explains that’s simply due to time. “I wish there was a spinoff with the Texas Rangers so we could do a whole show with Rafael and Parker and Ronen [Rubinstein], but we only have three episodes left in the series. And so we felt like leaving Campbell as wounded as he was in the hospital and giving him the emotional resolution with Carlos, that was beautiful and a great endpoint for them,” he says. “We’ve got to shift our narrative focus to some of our other characters.”

That includes what’s next for T.K. and Carlos. The latter shared with his father at his grave that he’s going to be a dad himself: He’s decided, after being against it, that he’s ready to adopt T.K.’s half-brother Jonah. (T.K. had decided he would do so, alone if needed, after his stepfather was arrested and now faces a long prison sentence.) But why didn’t we see Carlos tell T.K. that news onscreen?

“Episode 9 is not about T.K. Episode 9 is about Carlos coming to grips with his father and what that means,” explains Raisani. “And so for me, the emotional conversation is him at that grave.” But, he promises, “We are going to play all of the emotion between Carlos and T.K. about the adoption, just not in this moment. We are not going to see the moment where he says, okay, let’s adopt him. Episode 11 is all about the adoption. So we will cover that background.”

Hottest Take: While I love the disasters, we don’t need one every time. They’re sometimes just too much and it would be nice to stop doing them. Make it more character-driven like Greys or Station 19. Also, Eddie is not a good friend to Buck and it shows. One more thing is that they need to tell longer stories instead of dropping them the moment they get interesting/compelling. Like the Gerard Story and Tommy’s were examples of this. And this does make the show boring because it mainly focuses on the main characters and not the supporting cast. To be honest, the supporting/recurring characters are the best part of the show and the heart of it. And without them, this show becomes boring and stale and repetitive. Also, it stinks that Gerard, the racist, homophobic etc captain got a better ending than the lonely, heartbroken, sad gay man. 🤬

One Thing You Would Love To See? A few things: less attention on the disasters and more on the characters. Keep it fresh and compelling without being boring or repetitive. Bring in new characters or even write characters off to make it not about the main 7/8 characters we have now. Be like Greys or Station 19. And last but not least, bring back Tommy because he deserves way better. He is Buck’s endgame and no one can replace him. Buck’s endgame should or just be a man, and that man is Tommy. He is my favorite character on the show period and Oliver and Lou have way too much chemistry to just throw it away. Give Buck a love story and Tommy as well.

EESHU HOW ARE YOU DOING AFTER THIS EPISODE??? i’m very torn because it was amazing and soft in a lot of scenes, i love me some judd screen time and i love that we are finally getting to see what this situation is doing to him, i love seeing tnt together like that and i loved carlos getting his closure, talking to his dad, accepting that he’s ready to live on and that doesn’t mean he’s forgetting his dad, and that he’s ready to take jonah in and be a dad himself. and i loved that tk was there to support him.

but also, there were so many plot holes in this ep i needed to rewind a few times just to catch up. i know it’s the last season and they’ve got a limited number of episodes and they need to give everyone a good closure, but how about we give this huge ass plot twist at least two episodes?? how about we give carlos finally finding his father’s killer a little more screen time that just those 10 minutes? how about we get to see tk’s reaction to carlos being shot in the chest?? how about we get at least a conversation between carlos and tk, be it a fight about carlos not wanting to adopt jonah and tk leaving him or be it a reconciliation after the whole shooting situation. like that comment tk made about choosing jonah over carlos was very random, it felt like it was just thrown in there. and then i cried so much during that last scene with carlos talking to his dad, but even then, what happened in between that comment from tk and that last scene?? we were missing so much information this time, i really felt like the plot holes were too much

i really hope that with those three episodes left we really do get some closure for everyone, and i hope it won’t be as rushed as this episode was. because it really was thrilling and beautiful, but it also lacked so much of what makes 911 lone star.

I’m right there with you. This episode left me with mixed feelingsss.

I loved Carlos’s storyline. Absolutely loved the plot twist in the end. It not being Campbell—it slapped. I always considered the chief being the insider and I’m so glad the show went that one. Always appreciate how the reason was something as simple as money—because that’s usually the root cause of this kind of thing—money. I love that it wasn’t something more complicated than that. It felt real. And when Carlos realised that he still feels as broken—I felt that. We all saw this coming and it happened anyway. That’s how grief works. So all in all, I’m 100% satisfied with Carlos/Gabriel’s arc.

Now coming to Tarlos, this episode was just bad when it comes to them. Idc the reason, time limitations or whatever —it was done poorly. If they had the time to include a 10 second scene of TK considering the very real possibility of divorce from Carlos, then they had time to show a 10 second resolution clip. A hug in the end was just not enough. I’m usually okay with off screen resolutions tbh when it’s an ensemble cast but this storyline deserved better than that. Additionally, it could also be because I’m against the whole magically fixing the ‘parent’ situation in a show for a happy ending thing.

I’m hoping though that episode 11 will fix some of this itch I’m feeling currently lol

911 Lone Star Redemption Week!

1)Which 911 Lone Star character redemption is your favorite?

Owen hands down. Tbh, with the exception of maybe TK, I can't think of any character that has specifically had a "redemption journey" as such. At least not in the way I would define it. Mistakes and growth is obviously a central theme of the show but I think Owen is the character that has had a series long redemption arc. And I think Owen is actually very important in what he represents. This is a man who lost his entire crew in a tragedy that quite literally changed the course of history as we know it. And that wasn't even the beginning of his trauma. He carried the guilt of his brother's death into adulthood and that guilt and trauma was compounded throughout his life. People can dismiss Owen all they want but I think that in many ways the type of representation he brings to the show is just as important as that of Tarlos, Paul, Marjan etc. What we see with him is the reality of how a lifetime of loss and trauma scars a person. And you know what? Owen is actually the ideal scenario because even at his worst, he still loves and cares for the people around him. Even his most annoying moments are borne from his desire to help others. Most of all, Owen makes sure that the people he cares about don't make the mistakes he did. Had it not been for him, who knows how Judd would have survived his PTSD? And I know people have mixed feelings on this but I think him bringing the 126 together the way he did was far more about him bringing together kindred souls who needed each other than him saving anyone. And I will never understand the people who say Owen is a bad parent because while he is obviously not perfect, nobody can deny that he loves his son more than anything in the world. And actually, that is another reason why I picked Owen for the best redemption arc. I think his redemption is so beautifully intertwined with TK's. Owen's grief and trauma obviously affected TK as a child and as he got older that childhood trauma of watching his father spiral led him down his own dark path. I think TK and Owen are the most beautiful and realistic example of a parent-child relationship not only because of how much the love each other but also how a parent's trauma can impact the child. But despite it all, they remain so close and are unafraid to openly express their love for each other.

2) Is there a character you think deserved an more of an onscreen redemption moment than we got on the show?

Hmm I don't really know. I guess I would have liked to see more discussion regarding Owen's father and how it would have felt knowing that Robert got to experience all the things Owen never did. I don't know how they would go about redeeming a dead character that we only had about 5 minutes of or if that even counts as redemption but I would be interested in exploring that more. And I would like to see TK be a part of that as well. I wish we'd gotten a scene of Owen actually telling TK about Robert.

3) Is there a recurring (or even one-time guest) "villain" that you would like to see return with a redemption arc? Or if not, is there a "villain" you absolutely would not want to see get a redemption?

I know he did kind of get redeemed in s3 but I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Billy Tyson again. Actually, I think it would be interesting to see him now after everything. Now that he and Owen have reached a truce and there is no more rivalry over the firehouse, what is Billy doing? Are he and Judd still in touch? Has he retired? I'd be interested to know what's going on with him now.

4) Are there any unresolved conflicts from the first four seasons that you wish were reconciled onscreen?

I know that the popular answers to this are usually the Push arc or 4x01-4x04 and I totally agree with both of those but for the sake of the post, I'm going to go with something different. I wish we'd gotten to see more of Mateo coming to terms with what happened to his cousin and how it impacted his family. He carried that guilt of his cousin going to jail for the first time to cover for him but we don't know what his relationship with the rest of his family is like as a result. Do they even know that Marvin was just covering for Mateo? Do they blame him for the path that Marvin took? Did Mateo see or talk to them after Marvin's death? All we got onscreen was his cousin calling to tell him that Marvin was dead. I just found that storyline interesting because it added depth to Mateo while also connecting two separate characters played in different shows by the same actor in a really fun way.

5) Which character would you like to have a more developed backstory?

Nancy. As things are now, she is the only one who we really don't know anything about for sure. I like that LS doesn't do "Begins" episodes the way 911 OG does because I prefer how we have slowly gotten more backstory for the characters and there is still more about all of them that we don't know but I would like to have some solid backstory for Nancy. We do know she has a sister and she was picked on in school. I feel like that could be potentially interesting and allow us to see how she ended up as a paramedic. Maybe she was a science geek and ended up performing first aid on a classmate which inspired her. Maybe her sister has a chronic illness and she was inspired by helping take care of her. She resuscitated that woman against her will so I feel like there is a strong basis for the latter theory.

(1) Which 911 Lone Star character redemption moment is your favourite? The post Push Tarlos reunion and TK coming home. That "welcome home TK" just has me 😍😍😍 every time I watch it.

(2) Is there a character you think deserved more of an on screen redemption moment than we got in the show? Andrea and Gabriel. Carlos called TK his friend from work in front of them one ep because he was still afraid of upsetting them by telling them he has a boyfriend... and i'm pretty sure the next time we see them, they're coming over for dinner at the townhouse and they're happy to be there and spend time with TK as their son's boyfriend. With the way their behaviour has affected Carlos since he was a kid, that "journey" deserved more screentime.

(3) Is there a recurring (or even one-time guest) “villain” that you would like to see return with a redemption arc? Or if not, is there a “villain” you absolutely would not want to see get a redemption? I want the homophobic woman from season 1 back. Just for shits and giggles so tarlos can be the most obnoxiously loved up married couple everyone knows they can be. Let them break the no pda on the job rule just for her.

(4) Are there any unresolved conflicts from the first four seasons that you wish were reconciled on screen? Unpopular opinion maybe but I'd like to see Alex again. Have him come to Austin for work or something or have tarlos go to NYC and run into him and just let him and TK get some kind of closure now TK at least is in a better place. I'd like Alex to own up to the fact that cheating on TK was a dick move, but I also need TK to acknowledge his OD was not Alex's fault. And just kind of... realise they were all wrong for each other but it's water under the bridge now. They're not friends and never will be... but they can be *civil* if they run into each other in the street.

(5) Which main character would you like to have a more developed backstory? I want to know more about Marjan's family - what is their relationship like now after she and Salim broke off the engagement? Does she still talk to her parents? She mentioned her sister in her road trip ep and her parents sent her flowers but I want to know more! I NEED to know how Nancy got so much money, and I want to know about her date in six inch heels. Mateo - the way he stepped up with his old captain was so good and showed so much growth! I want to know more about THAT Mateo. Not the sitcom version. That never again please. And Carlos with his sisters. I'm 99,9999999% sure Tim &co wrote them in because Rafa kept saying he thought Carlos was raised by women... but I still want to know more about them. What it was like for the three of them growing up. Did he come out to them before or after he told Andrea and Gabriel? Did they know at all? What did they think about the Iris of it all? I wanna know!

Which 911 Lone Star season finale is your favorite?

I think it might be Season 1! It was such a great final moment of growth for T.K. and the northern lights on top of the car can't be beat!

What was your favorite moment from the season 4 finale?

The cake scene! Which is canon! Because I say so! Even if we didn't see it until days later! 🍰

Are there any storylines that you would like to see brought back for a more satisfying conclusion?

Enzo and Jonah for sure, but that seems to be a given fortunately!

Pick one character and tell us where you hope to see them at the end of season 5.

I really hope that Paul and Asha are happy together! He's a lovely human being and deserves to find a joyful relationship.

What is one thing you really want to see before the show ends?

I would love to see more of Carlos' sisters, Ana and Luisa. Plus more Andrea. Plus Tarlos just like, happy for once in their lives. Is that too much to ask? 😂

just saw your tag about the new guy having more screentime than paul and marjan and now that's my one fear because we already know carlos is going to have a lot of "at work" storylines this season compared to earlier seasons while paul and marjan's main storyline seems to include both of them and we heard nothing about them having individual storyline so far

I mean, listen, I know that the fandom for this show on here is mainly a Tarlos fandom not always a 911 Lone Star fandom. So I understand I’m probably in the minority here.

But if they knew this was more than likely the last season when going into filming and still made the decision to introduce a brand new random white cop and give him more time, development, and/or interesting plots than characters we’ve spent the last four seasons loving, watching, and investing in…

my reaction will be a giant 'what the actual fuck'

HOWEVER! I am keeping my mind open here. And also maybe they’re trying to keep at least SOME things under wraps and not give away the entire 12 episode arcs before the show even starts. and that might include some exciting things for Paul and Marjan and Mateo and Nancy because they deserve it in their final season.

So while I do not care in the least bit about this new guy, I am withholding any real frustration with any of this stuff until we actually get these episodes!

TK stretches as his eyes slowly open. He inhales deeply, pushing his arms down and rolling his shoulders and then relaxing back into the mattress. He’s warm and still half-asleep, and for a moment or two he floats on that cloud. Then he inhales again, and a little more with it, he notices he’s alone in the bed.

Mid-morning sunlight streams in through the windows, creating patterns on the quilt, and TK lifts his head enough to catch a glimpse of the clock radio on Carlos’ side of the bed.

It’s almost 9:30. Carlos had to work today; TK didn’t, and TK is a heavy sleeper but not that heavy. Not heavy enough to sleep through Carlos’ entire morning routine. Carlos must have taken great care to be quiet as he showered and got ready and ate breakfast and left the loft, so that TK could sleep.

TK is stuck halfway between grateful and disappointed. Grateful because he’d worked overtime yesterday and needed the extra rest, and it’s sweet that Carlos hadn’t wanted to wake him. Disappointed because every moment he doesn’t get to spend with Carlos still feels like a waste, and he would have liked to have been kissed goodbye. TK can’t believe, after all this time, how much he likes his fiancé. How much Carlos is still, unwaveringly, the person TK would rather do absolutely nothing with than do the most exciting thing in the world with anyone else.

He stretches again and feels a pleasant ache of his muscles. They’d made a deal. No sex the week before the wedding. Carlos had laughed in his face when TK had pointed out some people abstain for weeks or even months, just to heighten their desire and anticipation so their wedding night is one to remember. Carlos bet TK couldn’t last one week, let alone more than that. TK had grinned at him and made that bet. It doesn’t really matter. Either he loses, and he gets sex sooner, or he wins, and their wedding night is spectacular. TK feels like they both come out on top either way.

The night before, Carlos had made such tender, passionate, thorough love to him that TK sort of does think he’ll be able to make it to the wedding, because he thinks he’ll carry those memories with him in every step he takes for the next seven days. He smiles to himself, blushing even though he’s alone and momentarily burying his face in the soft cotton pillowcase, and the phantom memories of the way Carlos had looked at him as he fucked TK through three orgasms. There haven’t been many in TK’s life who can make him blush. Carlos can. But TK returns that favor.

It’s then that he notices the little piece of paper folded and resting in the center of Carlos’s pillow. TK presses his lips together and reaches for it, propping himself up on his elbow and unfolding the page. In Carlos’ characteristically neat handwriting, it says Morning baby. Hope you slept well. One week – ONE WEEK!!! – until I get to call you my husband. Enjoy your day off. Pamper yourself for me.

When did you first start watching Lone Star? Who or what introduced you to the show?

Okay im getting outed on main here, i didn’t watch LS until summer 2023. OKAY OKAY PUT THE PITCHFORKS DOWN. i watched OG 911 from the time it premiered until like season 5 where i fell out of it, and then picked it back up during season 6. And i really didn’t know much about lone star, but i finally broke down when i got sick and couldn’t leave my house for a week and i binged the show in a week. and now look at me. 

Which season is your favorite?

Season 3 my beloved, i fear nothing can top that season 

Who is your favorite character? (Bonus: If you answered TK or Carlos, who is your favorite besides them?)

NANCY. I have so many of my own thoughts for stories about her life, some published, some in the drafts, some just in my head. But she really deserves some screen time in general that isn’t servicing a man. 

I would like to maybe meet her sister and learn more about her family and past life that way? 

What is a scenario or storyline that you would like to see in season 5?

We all know im begging for lesbian marjan. But im also really excited for captain gillian!! my beloveds @pelorsdyke and @captain-gillian we all stayed here while others moved on 😔 (but please. if you're like us. and want to read Marjan hot for captain nancy. you must read k's fic here)

What do you think is going on in this still?

My answer is boring, but it's certainly around gabriel’s death. Maybe the call where he finds out gabriel isn’t dead and has been in witness protection??? (im delusional let me be) 

Where was the Tarlos honeymoon in your mind?

Somewhere away but not too far, maybe on the gulf coast. A nice resort, with a beach and a pool, but definitely not super far, as carlos gets homesick away from texas and he is grieving.

what is one storyline you’d love to see from 911 lone star next season?

ahh thank you!!! i have a whole s5 wishlist here but:

we NEED a nancy storyline! i need her hero moment! i need to get some more backstory for her! they have all these wonderful stepping stones for a larger story they’ve set up through the seasons, and i think she’s the most deserving of getting a meaty plot this season.

i’d also like to mention, once again, my dire need for tarlos / gracejudd interactions. they’re the married couples, they have all these parallels…they deserve to have some more crossover in their storylines.

Do you respond to comments? I try to, although logging in my AO3 to do this showed me how many messages I have in my inbox so... ish?

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I tend to favour happier endings but I guess I could say that Rumours has an angsty ended, what with both of the characters dead. Although it was at the end of a long and happy life together so... not that angsty?

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? They're all happy, but all of my FirstPrince ones will have the happiest of happy endings for Henry because he deserves more than anything.

Do you get hate on fics? Not really. Closest I got was people basically yelling at me for not doing a thing in a fic which I'd outlined in part 2? 3? could never happen. So lots of "WHY DON'T YOU WRITE THIS?" and me going, "...because I won't?"

Do you write smut? I dabble. More of a fade to black kinda girl.

Craziest crossover: Don't really do them.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of.

Have you ever had a fic translated? I have, and being asked was the biggest honour ever.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? I did once, writing mirror chapters of a fic with someone. (We each wrote a different perspective on an event.)

All time favourite ship? Don't make me choose between my babies.

What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I have a Tarlos WiP just... sitting there. And I don't know if I'm going to get the love for them back.

What are your writing strengths? idk, finishing something?

What are your writing weaknesses? idk, not writing?

Thoughts on dialogue in another language? If it works, then I will do it. Fun fact: I once had a couple of characters have a conversation in front of the two main characters in French. I deliberately didn't provide a translation because one of the two didn't know what was being said and the reveal wouldn't come until the next part. Got yelled at for that too. (Like, the internet is right there.)

First fandom you wrote in? Like... ever? Lord knows.

Favourite fic you've written? I've got ones I'm really proud of for various reasons. Vows (Glee) because it was the first big one I'd done and it landed REALLY well, Exponential (Emmerdale) because it was structurally a challenge, In the burned house I am eating breakfast (911 Lone Star) because, well, I just love it.
