can we talk about the symbolism of Carlos mentioning he hasn't told TK of his decision on Jonah just moments before they walk off together? that this is them even amongst TK's commentary to Tommy & Nance that he won't sacrifice his little brother like he'd sacrifice his marriage. that they decided to show TK and Carlos still in conflict and that they're walking off into the sunset in the midst of it...not at a resolution between them that magically makes it better so that they can act like that, but that this is them despite the differences in a moment of support and one-sided knowledge to the beginning of a new chapter aka what Carlos is about to tell him that makes him feel happy and embrace his husband in the full-on walk to the car that TK is just as actively participating in...And that somehow makes it more meaningful and says more than taking place after "fixing" the problems between them

what do you mean we don't get to see everyone in the waiting room for carlos. what do you mean that we don't get to see him in his hospital room, talking quietly to owen about fatherhood, because tk's fallen asleep curled up in the bed with an arm slung over carlos' waist. what do you mean we don't get to see marjan and paul marching in with a bunch of awesome homemade food because hospital dinners suck. what do you mean we don't get to see mateo bringing in a bunch of random shit to try and cheer him up. what do you mean we don't get to see judd just sitting there quietly, observing it all, cracking jokes every now and then. what do you mean we don't get to see iris, or anyone else important in carlos' life rushing in because oh my god, he was shot. he could've died. what do you mean we don't get to see andrea come into the hospital and carlos telling her i did it, mamá. i found the man who killed him. what do you mean. what. do. you. mean.

The first time he saw the mortuary photograph of his father it was an accident. To an extent. He was snooping, but with the intention of seeking clues for who the shooter could be. Any leads Chief Bridges might be keeping from him. Anything, anything but that. ✨✨✨✨ A short history of Carlos stumbling upon that photograph of Gabriel, and what happened next.

9-1-1: Lone Star's Tarlos fight over adopting Jonah: A 'strong friction point,' says showrunner
Things are not all well in the house of Tarlos.
Last week’s 9-1-1: Lone Star saw TK end his birthday party early after his stepfather, Enzo was arrested for fraud and conspiracy. Now, TK is worried about what will happen to his young half-brother, Jonah, and discussing the possibility of adoption with Carlos does not go well
Carlos feels like he's been working on being more present and not letting the search for his dad's murderer impact their relationship, but TK still feels there's
three people in this marriage: You, me, and your father's killer
co-showrunner Rashad Raisani tells EW
As Carlos and TK got married, we were always looking for what are the deeper conflicts that they could have that would still allow them to love each other — so no cheating or anything like that, They love each other. But in real relationships, even healthy ones, there are these really strong friction points
Raisani continues
For Carlos, it was always going to be his obsession with his dad's murder, That is inevitably going to cause issues. And then with TK, going back to last season, he told Carlos that he really wanted to be a dad and Carlos said I'm not ready and TK said that was okay. We didn't want TK to be a dick and bring that up again without a new circumstance, so we thought it would be great if we gave TK a new urgent situation, which is My baby brother is about to be cast to the wind if we don’t adopt him' and have that go right against Carlos going, But I'm right on the cusp of solving my father's murder and I don't have time for that. So that kind of led to this conflict between them The desire to set up that conflict — and casting the incredible and nuanced Henry Ian Cusick — led the Lone Star team to tweaking their initial plan to introduce Enzo: We always had this character in our minds, and we always knew he'd be wealthy and probably have some Bernie Madoff-style baggage, but we had first pictured him much more as a comedic foil for Owen who would be funny and zany
he adds
Then we started to realize there is a lot of real-life pain and love there with TK and Enzo, because this guy really, to be honest, probably had more to do with shaping TK into who he became as a grown man than Owen did," he adds. "We realized we couldn't write him as a punchline because he meant a lot to TK. And so we thought this will be a great way to turn the corner from TK thinking of himself as a son to these two fathers and start to think of himself as a father. That's what got us here

I just think Owen was right about Enzo since start of the episode. That guy is manipulative now, even though he was a good man and raised TK. Enzo and Jonah were not in Tk's wedding. I know the show is not ultra serious most times and it was just mistake that they were not in wedding .But all I know is that Owen strand has anger issues but he is perceptive as fuck and that the reason he was chosen to rebuild the 126 in the first place.

Okay so I just started watching 911 lone star (I saw a post about tk and Carlos and had to see it) and I am currently one episode 6 of season 1, and can I just say, seeing the entire team rallying around Mateo to help him study and adapting how they help him because of his dyslexia and I just love it! It was super touching watching them rally to help him, and the strategies they use can actually be stuff we use to better teach our students with dyslexia or other reading based learning disabilities, like the read aloud and when Marjan and Mateo are studying and she starts not asking in a multiple choice format to help him realize he does know the information, that can totally be helpful for anxiety and just how they all support him is great! And then seeing how fantastic he did after that help and the format change just shows how much accommodations can help! I just loved it!

Carlos getting the answer to who his father's murderer was is closure to the curiosity he's had this year. But it will never make it better. The last scene is a perfect dialogue for the conclusion to this storyline.
Carlos waking up in a panic- Him still having this struggle and his inability to sleep, even after the resolution is an important note.
-Carlos is a problem-solver (as in he thinks in a way where there are clear steps to "fix" his problems/to guide his emotions). It could be the detective in him. He is a planner and it is so like him to "everything is going according to plan"(or "I must complete step A before I get to step B" his way through) his dad's investigation, so that it consumes him until he finds the truth.
"I thought if I figure out who did this, it would make the pain better, but it's worse."
I think if we go back to Carlos' initial hesitance from wanting to raise kids, it makes sense for Carlos; we know him to want to "do things right" and to doubt himself, so much so, that he puts his life on hold (to please his family's idea of him & his sexuality, to look after his best friend, etc). But you can tell there's two different showrunners. Rashad has taken the tarlos kids debate and made it more about not being in the right place in life, but in 4x12, while the same reasonings are an underlying cause, the issue is presented as more as Carlos' desire to experience more with the distinct possibility that he could never want kids (in a lengthier, solo-topic post, I could give my full thoughts on this, but all of this COULD be direct effects of avoiding). In 4x12, this is when Gabriel is still alive and the "not the right time" excuse that he uses cannot originate back to finding closure to Gabriel's death. Both of these scenarios have the same underlying cause on Carlos' end, but the former presentation in season 4 dresses up the issue with circling around the real reason and no immediate resolution at the end of the episode (which is the episode's purpose and couple's "compromise") that I now could honestly see for how some people thought Carlos' hesitancy = genuine disinterest to wanting to ever be a father. I guess what I'm trying to say is Rashad took a direct approach towards the issue, while Tim danced around the subject (could have been intentional for Carlos' avoidance, could have been not executed well; I'm not trying to get into a discourse for that part right now, but...) With Carlos, there would always be something stopping him.
Taking life as it comes, not waiting for when you think you are ready when you kind of know you are ready (in Carlos' case for wanting "the right time" for most siutations that arise with him, not that having a kid doesn't require planning in most cases/logicics-wise that aren't just down to avoiding life steps that seems to occur with Carlos) are general rules of thumb to uncertainties of living. Carlos had to come to that conclusion after his father's death and AFTER trying to conclude something of meaning of his dad's tragedy and STILL coming up with this outcome of no resolution...of no ending to an ultimate life-altering event, and no guarantees to the future he has dabbled about, like traveling to Tuscany or hiking. And it hurts...but it's such a real message!
Another thing that's occurred to me-on the topic of tarlos' involvement in this set-up: Carlos says he hasn't been able to look at the last photo of Gabriel since the day before he died (and not being able to reminiscence because of that pain). But..but, TK when Gwyn died was able to look at her pictures with him when he was little, once a bit of time had passed. That's another little parallelism of tarlos, really highlighting the differences in how they deal with things. Carlos waiting roughly a year and a half before he could view a camera-roll memory with his dad kills me. And TK realizing that after death, your loved ones live on, and having updated struggles even this year that led to talking with Tommy shows the growth in his grief journey...that still shows his grieving.
In thinking about TK's mom's death vs Carlos' dad's death. They were both murdered. But TK's mom's was accidental, which he had resolution on to who did it. And his view on that "last piece being gone" is something he would not have thought in the immediate aftermath of his mom's death. But here is this line now, where he can help Carlos through his sadness, because he's been through it and come to his own realizations in a similar way. And that's beautiful.
And Carlos coming to the conclusion about being a dad, like his dad, who he always saw as a work man and someone he idolized as a loving husband to his mom, despite never having the parental bond where he could be sensitive, is the full circle of this father-son relationship journey, because of how complicated their relationship was.
"You were my dad. And I hope you'll be with me as I become one too."
-And, thus, Gabriel lives on in him through this journey, as he tells him FIRST.

911 Lone star 5x08
A lot of people seem to 100% believe that Campbell is behind this, but I’ve got to say I’m not entirely convinced. I think maybe the guy that died was trying to say that he was being targeted next and that he’s in danger. I really don’t think that we would get so much of Campbell, who seems to be a family man with four kids and a wife of 11 years, just for them to take his entire character away, especially with the talk of the spinoff. I’m just saying this was part one for a reason and I don’t think it’s going to be so cut and dry.

‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ First Look at Henry Ian Cusick: T.K.’s Stepfather Meets Carlos
We’ve heard quite a bit about Enzo, T.K.’s stepfather, over the years, and in 9-1-1: Lone Star‘s final season, we’re going to meet him!
Enzo is described as impossibly handsome, cosmopolitan, cultured, wealthy, and suave. He shows up for T.K.’s birthday much to the consternation of Owen
In his first appearance, T.K. gets a huge surprise on his 30th birthday when Enzo arrives in Austin along with his half-brother Jonah. Owen’s resentment of Enzo turns physical
showrunner Rashad Raisani says
His charm and soul make him the perfect step-father to T.K. And his star power and vicious comedic timing make him the perfect foil for Owen Strand
Rubinstein raved about the casting of Enzo
The person that’s playing Enzo is absolutely perfect, Ian Cusick from Lost, I can’t believe we got him. I literally used to watch Lost religiously as a kid. And the fact that he’s playing my stepdad is just the coolest thing ever
Rubinstein, like fans, had been waiting to see Enzo onscreen
Going into Season 1, I quickly learned that Enzo was actually T.K.’s father figure for most of his young life, and that dynamic compared to him and Owen is very different. And I think it makes for an incredible love-hate triangle that we’re going to see between Enzo, Owen, and T.K.
Season 5 hasn’t actually had many Owen and T.K. scenes, and, according to Rubinstein, the fact that father and son have been going through things on their own
collides because of Enzo and Jonah coming to town. I think it’s a perfect way to unite us. It definitely add a little bit of a rift to Owen and T.K., but it’s for great reason. I think the makeup of those two is one of the most special things that we do this season and it’s all for a good cause, and it brings up some very difficult conversations that needed to be had between T.K. and Owen as well that we’ve sort of just brushed to the side since T.K. was a kid. So it definitely brings up some stuff that I feel like T.K. finally gets to get off his shoulders and really let Owen know how he feels about things and I’m so excited for that
Raisani pointed out to us that Enzo
Kind of took Owen’s place in T.K.’s life after Owen sort of backed off as a dad because of 9/11. Enzo really did have a giant hand in raising T.K. and he fathered Jonah, T.K.’s little brother. So we wanted to, as we’re sort of looking at this series to wrap it up and talk about family, get back to who is T.K. going to be as a son and as a brother and also as a father going forward as this series comes to a close. Jonah, that little boy, and Enzo, his stepfather, seemed like the perfect characters that we could kind of tell that story through
He continued
Also, it’s gonna force Owen to acknowledge, kind of going back to his past as T.K.’s father and the years that he was absent, that some damage was done to T.K. and that Enzo had a lot to say about what kind of person T.K. would become. So there’s a lot of reckoning about the past that’s gonna come through with his character. Also, he’s just a whole lot of fun
