What is with hArrh potter and its ability to cause artistic stagnation?

Context: currently on 10 mg thc, saw a trailer for Wonka today at the movies and thinking about how shit it looks.

Like. It was jhst barry potter again. The vfx made it clear it was 90% animated, and they did the big stupid fwooshy movements all the time, everyone had the posh tv British accent, there was unexamined perpetuation of racist tropes, the aethetics are vaguely steampunk pop victorian/dickensian, everyones costumes look like shit and made of velvet, so pretty much the only visual difference was that they didn't have any wands.

And then they showed in the trailer that one of the guys making it worked on harry potter like it was a draw. Like one: yeah we could tell. Two: that's not really the draw that it once was. Like i and every trans person i know actively avoids pretty much everything even tangentally relates to jk rowling.

Also it just looked bad.

Mad at her mom for working so much. Mad at herself for being mad. Mad at Qui for pulling away from so many people. Mad at Tamarack for acting like a 'visitor'. Mad at school. Just mad at everything. (results from bottling up her emotions for years trying to protect/be there for people)

Still clumsy af <- embarrassed by that fact now. Carries bandaids everywhere. Mostly clumsy still because of terrible spacal awareness/ ADHD

I was able to get spaghetti and meatballs from the student center and for once it didnt leak on me as i went to my dorm. but i was so shaky i dropped half a meatball on my lucky garfield jammies :( i have a lot of things to oxiclean when i get home (the spaghetti ALWAYS leaks...)

I didn't get to draw any FAITH shit today and i am going through withdrawal already. I was so busy with college i didn't get to eat lunch and that went very poorly !

Don't skip lunch guys especially if u weigh all but 90 pounds. I'm going home this weekend though so hopefully i get to do things although most of my time will probably be spent cuddling my cat and trying to get sauce stains out of all my clothes.

ngl i lost count so here are the my favorite most iconic tv show outfits/fashion moments 🥰 this was so much fun!!!

lets start with a classic 90s icon: rachel green, these two are my favorite outfits she's worn on the show

olivia pope has the best coat game in the world, i love a good beige/white coat

i could put so many of blair's outfits on this list but i limited myself to my top two

and continuing her legacy we have monet de haan, the gg spin off might have been painfully mid but monet is my daughter and i am in love with this dress

speaking of teen show fashion, pretty little liars had some truly awful fashion moments but troian bellasario in this dress has literally changed the trajectory of my life

and for my niche audience, noora and her itertions in all skam version did the clean girl aethetic before tiktok was a thing, here are the two 'noora' outfits that are living rent free in my head

for most memorable wedding dress i nominate leslie knope's newspaper dress which i assume was inspired by carrie bradshaw's dress, both are inspiring fashion moments

game of thrones costume design is stunning, like i could have put so many more on this list

buffy in her brown leather pants and a simple white tanktop, this is too hot

another show with absolutely stunning costume design: the queen's gambit

i have not stopped thinking about audrey plaza wearing this white dress in the white lotus in over a year

i love pose, the show itself is so good and it has some amazing fashion moments, this is the most memorable to me, elektra as marie antoinette

reign was a hot mess, so addicting but a mess, but the fashion - as inaccurate as it may have been - was so stunning, this is my all time favorite dress on the show

dickinson on the other hand is such a fun and good interpretation of antebellum US/emily dickinson's life, emily's yellow dress and her cute little hat has all my heart

skin's effy truly inspired so many edgy teen girlies in the 00/10s, no one can deny her influence on teen media and fashion
