This week nearly saw two secret spaceplanes launched within days of each other. After ground systems concerns and then weather delays, the US Department of Defense’s X-37B vehicle had its OTV-7 launch on the Falcon Heavy USSF-52 mission scrubbed from its initial planned attempt on Dec. 11. Starlink Group 6-34 was also scrubbed that same day and again a day later due to high-level ground winds, during what turned out to be quite a volatile week for planned launches. As we go to press, a double header looks to be back on, this time on the evening of Dec. 28 with both a Falcon Heavy and a different Falcon 9 launch scheduled within five hours of each other. If the current schedule stays as-is, this Falcon 9 flight, Starlink Group 7-9, will be SpaceX’s 300th mission and poignantly its last of this year. China launched two of its tallest active rockets this week within a fraction over 24 hours of each other. The Chang Zheng 2F/T launched China’s own equally secretive CSSHQ spaceplane on Dec. 14 for its third flight. This was followed the next day by the first and only launch this year of a Chang Zheng 5 carrying the Yaogan 41 reconnaissance satellite from the Wenchang space launch center into a high elliptical orbit. At 52 and 57 meters tall, respectively, these are beaten in height by the less frequently flown Chang Zheng 2F/G at 58.3 meters. This is next slated to launch the crewed Shenzhou 18 mission to the Tianhe core module of the Tiangong space station in May next year. A third Chinese mission launched another experimental craft three days later when a Hyperbola 1 Y7 took a reusable cargo spacecraft on its first orbital test for AZSPACE’s DEAR-1 mission. Conical in shape, this craft is designed to take up to 300 kilograms for up to a year in orbit. Nonetheless, its record number of launches and overall achievement has been incredible, including its 200th successful droneship landing with Starlink Group 7-8 just a couple of weeks ago. As things currently stand, it will have achieved 98 Falcon missions this year. Its ambitious goal of 144 intended launches next year implies an increased cadence that would average 12 per month. Achieving this also requires an increase in return-to-launch site (RTLS) missions, including Starlink missions with an optional RTLS profile. The delayed Starlink Group 6-34 finally launched on Dec. 17 at 11:01 PM EST (04:01 UTC on Dec. 18), lifting another 23 Starlink V2 Mini satellites into low-Earth orbit. Elsewhere, Rocket Lab’s Electron launched “The Moon God Awakens” mission on Dec. 15, the third in a planned series of 36 synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites for iQPS, and Rocket Lab’s first for this customer. The satellite will use radar to map the Earth every 10 minutes, in all weather conditions, including through clouds. This was Rocket Lab’s tenth and final launch of the year following a short pause in flights after the unexpected anomaly during the “We Will Never Desert You” mission in September. A Soyuz-2.1b rocket launched the second of ten planned satellites in the Arktika-M meteorological constellation on Dec. 16. This will utilize a highly elliptical Molniya orbit to maximize its time monitoring the higher latitudes of the Arctic region, while also providing emergency rescue communications capacity. This busy week in space also saw three days of delay in the undocking of Cargo Dragon CRS-29 due to weather. It finally left the Harmony module of the ISS on Dec. 15, following a one-month stay, after which it splashed down off the coast of Florida. New Shepard | NS-24 On Dec. 18, Blue Origin’s uncrewed NS-24 mission launched at 10:43 AM CST (16:43 UTC) from Launch Site One at its West Texas spaceport. This was the first launch of New Shepard in over 15 months since the failure of an engine nozzle on the uncrewed NS-23 mission triggered an auto-abort on Sept. 12, 2022. The vehicle was subsequently grounded until the FAA concluded its investigations this September citing 21 corrective actions. 33 science and research payloads and other cargo are also on board, including 38,000 postcards sent to Blue Origin’s “Club For The Future” which will be returned to their senders, stamped “Flown to Space,” as keepsakes. This mission will place Lockheed Martin’s new wideband electronically steerable antenna (ESA) integrated onto the Terran orbital nebula satellite bus. Massing in the hundreds of kilograms, this payload will be used to demonstrate ESA’s fast on-orbit sensor calibration and deliver these rapid capabilities to the United States warfighters. It is expected that this payload is calibrated in a fraction of the amount of time that traditional payloads take, but little info has been given so far. Soyuz 2.1a | Cosmos (Unknown Payload) On Dec. 21, at 08:00 UTC, Russia will launch an unknown payload from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, in Russia. The payload will be placed into a Sun-synchronous orbit. Falcon 9 Block 5 | SARah 2 & 3 Squeezing into the schedule just before the weekend, and is due to lift off from SLC-4E at Vandenberg on Dec. 22 at 4:56 AM PST (12:56 UTC). The booster has not yet been declared but will be landing back at LZ-4. Details of the mission are scarce as this is a secretive government project. The pair of remote sensing satellites have been built by Airbus for the German military and use synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology. They will be placed into a sun-synchronous orbit where they are intended to fly in formation with their predecessor SARah 1, building out the SAR-Lupe constellation. Falcon 9 Block 5 | Starlink Group 6-32 On Friday, Dec. 22 at 11:00 PM EST (04:00 UTC on Dec. 23), SpaceX will launch yet another 23 Starlink v2 Mini satellites into low-Earth orbit from SLC-40. As usual for these group six missions, the second stage will conduct two burns to reach the planned 285 by 293-kilometer initial low-Earth orbit. Over the coming weeks, the satellites will undergo checkouts, and raise their orbit to the 530-kilometer circular orbit at 43.00 degrees. Soyuz 2.1v/Volga | Cosmos (Unknown Payload) On Dec. 26 at 18:00 UTC, Russia will launch an unknown payload atop a Soyuz 2.1v/Volga rocket. This mission will lift off from Site 43/4 at the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, in Russia. PSLV-DL | XPoSat Also due in the final days of 2023 are the XPoSat mission to be launched on a PSLV-DL from the First Launch Pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in India. This is its first dedicated X-Ray Polarimeter mission to study various bright astronomical sources in extreme conditions and consists of two payloads massing 480 kilograms, which will be deployed into low-Earth Orbit to perform spectroscopy and polarimetry. The mission is scheduled to launch on Dec. 27 at 9:00 PM EST (02:00 UTC on Dec. 28). XPoSat ahead of launch. (Credit: ISRO) Falcon Heavy | USSF-52 At this time the revised launch date for this mission carrying the X-37B is Dec. 28 7:00 PM EST (00:00 UTC on Dec. 29) giving us, once again, the prospect of a double header launch with a Falcon 9 also lifting off two hours later from the West coast. This will be the fifth and final Falcon Heavy launch of the year, and the first time it has flown this secret spaceplane. It’s the fourth flight for the X-37B Vehicle 2 itself, which previously flew on the OTV-2, OTV-4, and OTV-5 missions. Its sibling Vehicle 1 is the craft that spent the record 908 days in orbit on OTV-6 but Vehicle 2 spent an impressive 779 days on OTV-5 and, to date, every mission has exceeded the length of its predecessor. While details of its target destination are classified, we can surmise from the lack of a grey thermal protection stripe on the second stage that the mission is will not be inserting its payload into a geosynchronous orbit (which would require extra flight time and this stripe to help maintain propellant temperature), nor is it heading due east. One possibility is that it could be destined for a highly inclined, highly elliptical orbit. Side boosters B1064-5 and B1065-5 will be supporting this mission and will both return for a landing at LZ-1 and LZ-2, while the center core B1084 will be expended. These side boosters are due to be expended on its next Falcon Heavy mission, Europa Clipper, next October. Falcon Heavy launching on the Psyche mission. (Credit: SpaceX) Falcon 9 Block 5 | Starlink Group 7-9 Delayed from a planned Dec. 15 launch, this mission will now fly in the evening on Dec. 28 at 9:09 PM PST (05:09 UTC on Dec. 29) from SLC-4E at Vandenberg Space Force Base. This flight will carry only 21 Starlink V2 Mini satellites into low-Earth orbit. The booster for this mission will be B1082 on its inaugural flight; it is expected to land on the droneship Of Course I Still Love You. As with all missions for this particular shell of the constellation (“Group 7”), this mission will send the satellites on a southeastern trajectory into an initial orbit of 286 x 295 kilometers at a 54-degree inclination, raising later to a circular 530 kilometers. With no further schedule adjustments, this flight would be SpaceX’s 300th overall mission and its 96th of 2023. Falcon 9 Block 5 | Ovzon-3 After some schedule reshuffling following scrubs earlier in the week, this communications satellite massing 1,500 kilograms for the privately funded Swedish/US Ovzon company is due to launch now on Dec. 22 at 4:46 PM EST (21:46 UTC) from SLC-40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The satellite is declared to be the most powerful satellite to be placed into geostationary orbit (GEO), taking three to four months to transition to an orbit inclined by 59.7 degrees east and with an apogee of 36,000 kilometers. It has been in development since late 2018 in response to increased demand in under-served regions for mobile broadband connectivity. Using a combination of patented high-power beams and smart software, Ovzon-3 will be able to cover a third of the Earth from that vantage point with its steerable spot beams. The booster for this mission has not yet been declared but is planned to return to the landing site for an early morning touchdown at LZ-1. This is uncommon as there’s not usually sufficient propellant to land anywhere other than a drone ship for transfers to GEO, so we anticipate SpaceX has been streamlining, with the mission possibly seeing a tweaked burn profile like on Crew-7 and Starlink 6-24 recently. well, i had a nice, trauma-free weekend, but thanks to linkedin, it's time to dive right into today's topics:

8a. i commit to soliciting feedback from my employees, not taking it personally or getting offended, and doing my best to incorporate it. my goal will be to create a positive work culture where my employees feel heard and valued, and know that it's safe for them to express their needs without risk of irrational negative consequences.

illogical promotion structure.

half of what i'm operating on here is secondhand information. but when has that ever stopped me before? i'll indicate what information came directly to me with (1) and what's secondhand with (2).

(1) i was handed a document of "work expectations" (or something to that effect) describing the responsibilities of each title/tier and requirements to be promoted from one level to the next. of note: the step up from scientist to senior scientist requires 2y of industry experience following any academic experience (no distinction b/w fresh PhD and some postdoc experience).

(2) prior to the development of this document, a woman with 5y of postdoc experience was offered the senior scientist title (and commensurate higher salary) during recruitment, but upon arriving on-site, discovered that her title/salary would just be scientist.

(2) after the publication of the expectations document, a different woman with 1y of postdoc experience, after having worked at the company for 8 mo, was promoted to senior scientist.

(1) also after the publication of the document, a man with many years of industry experience was hired as a senior scientist, but after 8 mo at the company, was promoted to associate director. several things of note: 1, biotech titling has an additional step between senior scientist and associate director that he skipped right over (principal scientist); 2, (2) he had previously let his personal feelings get in the way of managing his direct reports and had gotten someone fired apparently because he couldn't handle feedback; and 3, (2) the company PTO policy was changed from unlimited to a countable number of days because this very person had abused the policy, taking a 2 month european summer vacation.

what makes me mad: why did this person, who abused the pto policy to the extent that the company had to change it, get a huge promotion when i wasn't allowed to take any pto and got fired?

honestly, i was more mad when i first discovered this two hours ago. since then, i have unfollowed the parties in question on linkedin, and honestly all the anger has left my sails.

i think for anyone looking in at the antics in this company, it's all insane, but when compared with the past behavior of the parties in question, it's all well within the norm.

as usual, i wish everyone at the top only failure and misery, and i hope that the early career scientists can get out before it's too late for them.

a thread about my shithole job

when i asked my therapist about workplace trauma and how to move forward from it, she suggested setting some time aside to feel my feelings and journal about it. so that's what i'm going to do, because i'm determined to move on from all the ways that i was mistreated at that shithole job now that it's been 5 months (lol).

for context, my first job out of my PhD was at a tiny startup of fewer than 10 employees. i felt lucky to land the job because the biotech job market was in a bad place at the end of 2022 (it's worse now at the end of 2023), and luckier still because the company sang a (lying) tune about company culture that i bought into. the job ranged from okay to a total dumpster fire and i'll get into the details below, and then after 5 months, i was unceremoniously laid off. (alternately, my entire team of 2 was unceremoniously restructured.)

and because i signed a non-disparagement agreement to get my severance, i can't tell you the company's name. i assume not all of these issues occur at other companies,

today's topics:

company retreat.

for context, about 2 months into my time at this company, we went for a 3 day/2 night ski retreat.

the invite went out after i had accepted the position, but before i had started, so i felt like this was "mandatory fun" and forced team bonding time that i had to attend (even though the text of the email said no pressure!), so i accepted, but made clear from the beginning that i am not a skiier and would not be joining the downhill skiing activities.

come the week of the event, work was a flaming shitshow. we were in our first sprint week at this startup, and two new hires were visiting from oot so we had to entertain them and make it seem like work was chill even though we were working overtime.

actually being on retreat was fine, i guess? we did cabin activities, they went skiing and i did other snow stuff. it was awkward but manageable. the CEO covered activity fees for only the downhill skiiers, so i, notably not in this group, had to pay my own way for tubing, skating, and snowshoeing all by my lonesome.

i now regret not asking for my activity fees to be covered also.

we get home, and the CEO sends out a group photo. that was taken at the top of the ski mountain.

and to make matters worse, i was never, at any point during this retreat, invited to be in a group photo.

that was the first time i cried over this shithole job, and the first time that i told myself that i wasn't going to care anymore. (first time? because i wasn't good at holding myself to it.) startups want their employees to be part of a shitty family, and i was no longer having it.

to make matters worse, when i was being hired, the CEO had fed me a lying story about how "we're not like other startups" and want to focus on employee well-being over the other cultish aspects of stereotypical startup culture.

what i wish i had said to my shitty ex-manager when she fired me.

i don't appreciate being patronized. the first thing she said to me was, "this may come as a surprise, but..." haha no, this was not a surprise in any way, shape, or form. i've known that you wanted to fire me from that joke of a performance review* (more on this later) a month ago, right up through this meat grinder of a so-called "second chance" you've given me. i guess i am only surprised that you fired me right in the middle of a field trial where i'm a member of the team of two that handles every sample that comes through.

just because you don't like what my data says doesn't mean it's bad data. 'nuff said.

if you're restructuring, why can't i be absorbed into another function of the company? why do you have to look me in the eye, lie to me and tell me that you think i'm a great scientist, but apparently not one who can learn how to contribute to other functions that i am fully capable of doing and you know it?

what's this bullshit about "effective immediately"? (don't @me about MA at will employment, i know the law but i'm talking here about decency, which i guess is a foreign concept to you.) shouldn't i be given a couple days to tie up loose ends, tell you how to find my shit, and say a non-rushed goodbye to those of my colleagues who i did come to like? and ESPECIALLY because i had requested several days of pto THAT YOU HAD APPROVED starting literally the next day? this feels like a move for YOU, so you don't have to look at me any more than you have to after you made this decision.

also, in the state of massachusetts, it would be polite to lay people off with enough lead time that they can acquire health insurance in a timely manner. assembling the necessary documents takes time, and the last day to sign up for the next month's coverage is the 23rd day of the prior month. lesson learned: negotiate a severance package that includes health coverage. again, i understand that decency is a foreign concept to you.

what gives you the right to play games with people's lives? this thought really took shape as my nutbag ex-manager continued to arbitrarily fire people, including one on an O1 visa. consider my situation: i had been at this company for 5 months and got laid off. any decent manager looking in would see this and immediately recognize that the problem is with the company (funding?) and the management rather than with me, a young scientist who hasn't even been given the standard amount of time to fuck up learn the ropes (1 year) before being shown the door. alternately, what gives you the right to brand me as someone who behaves poorly? (because that's the only other reason a stranger would think that i was laid off so quickly?) for example, my friend and former colleague, upon finding out that i lasted only 5 months at the company, immediately asked if the company was having money problems, but he's someone who knows me and knows that i'm not a jerk, but that's not immediately obvious to a stranger. what gives you the right?

you are running your company into the ground. i don't care if your science is impeccable (it's clearly not based on my data), but it's clear to me that your company is going to fail if you keep treating your employees like this. the consensus among former employees of the company, both the ones who were laid off and the ones who left of their own volition

i hope you fail. i will gleefully eat my popcorn WHEN it happens.

also, i want my stuff back. (i wouldn't have forgotten it if you'd given me more notice!)

Fic Writer's Game

I do love a good tagging game :P Let’s see how this goes!

1) How many works do you have on AO3?

174 … but about 30 are drabbles, and 10 or so are links to YouTube videos … Wow, that’s a lot though.

2) What’s your total AO3 word count?

431, 858. That feels … gosh it feels like a lot, but then I think about my fics and I’m like, “That’s it?” LOL … I guess things feel bigger than they are sometimes :D

3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

Two. Good omens, and one HP. The HP was written about 15y ago, and then I started in on GO 2y ago. And one GO/RHPS crossover lol

4) What are your top five fics by kudos?

1. Effortless Intimacy – The first fic I wrote for GO. An Ace romantic fic post Apocalypse failure.

2. An Angel, A Demon, A Sybian – PWP and exactly what it says on the tin LOL

3. When the Demon Bought a Sybian – PWP prequel to #2 hahaha

4. First One is Free – What ended up being the first fic in my Professional Dom Aziraphale series. Crowley trying to masturbate, and Aziraphale lends his voice to help him out before making a quip about he usual service fee.

5. Ineffable Kinktober 2019: Day 6: Tail – Some D/s playtime, gentle Dom Aziraphale asks for Crowley to manifest a tail for playtime. PWP.

5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

Yes. Whether it is a keyboard smash, an emoji, or long comment, I always reply. Although, there has been a time or two where someone was bingeing and leaving comments on each chapter, which were lovely ‘thank you’s’, and I did wait and respond to the last one referencing all of their comments.

6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Human Incarnate. After the trials, Heaven strips Aziraphale of his divinity, and he becomes mortal. He and Crowley try to live their best life until the inevitable happens. Which does, of course. I can’t even think about the last chapter without crying.

7) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?

I’ve only really written one crossover. The Rocky Omens Picture Show. Crowley and Aziraphale end up at Dr Frank-n-Furter’s castle and are brought in from the rain for a very brief visit.

8) Have you ever received hate on a fic?

No hate, but AngelFoodBaking.com readers were quite polarized on the ending and I don’t think people agreed with me, but being a crackfic, there wasn’t really ‘anger’.

9) Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Yes. I’ve written Ace sensual “smut” (Effortless Intimacy had lots of skin touching and kissing, nothing more, and I also did a 'genitalia-free masturbation' scene in 12. In Water), and I have written PWP unapologetic pornsmut (A New Building Isn't the Only Erection in the Area).

10) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yes, recently actually. About 3 weeks after I published a fic, I got a ping that I may want to have a look at a new fic WIP that had just dropped. By the time I finished reading the chapter, I already had multiple people reaching out to me, warning me, asking me if I knew about this … stuff like that. My beta confronted the other writer whose response was “I didn’t think it was too similar”, and then they deleted it. I checked my kudos, the other writer had dropped kudos on my fic 4 days earlier. *Their* beta had the response that they didn’t know how I could think that, and many people defended me that it was “Change enough so the teacher doesn’t know you cheated”, but definitely my fic, with one actual change. (Aziraphale was being abused in the other fic, in mine he was woefully underinformed but in a cute/cracky kind of way, not sinister). I had over 20 other writers who read both agreeing with me, I sent blind copies of both chapters to a teacher, a few friends, a copy/proofer friend of a friend … I knew I had been stolen from, but if there was any doubt from anywhere, I would have felt terrible. Every person who read them had differing opinions on content, if they liked it, ‘this felt better’, etc. Some of my friends preferred the other one. But every person came back with, “Whoever wrote first was stolen from.” … This wrecked me for a week. Being stolen from, having someone insist I had falsely accused someone of stealing, waiting for all the results to come back from blind readers. The other writer ended up ‘reworking’ and reposting, and I haven’t even clicked on it.

The beta also had the unmitigated gall to say this to a chatroom full of writers: "The first chapter has certain resemblances, which is not surprising given they were writing to the same prompt." .… meaning that they were completely discarding the ‘two cakes’ theory in favor of the ‘there is no such thing as originality’ theory. Which … to a room of writers, is a BOLD statement to make. So, I tested that theory. If I, one person with only one brain, could come up with multiple completely different takes on a single prompt. I am up to three active WIPs posted. If I can not copy myself, I sure as fuck expect a completely separate person to be able to not copy me. 11) Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not that I know of 😊

12) Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Sort of? It was more that @caedmonfaith and I were ripping back and forth in Discord and then she put it in actual words like a real writer and asked if she could post it (which, of course?!) The Grammar Lesson

13) What’s your all time favourite ship?

Definitely Aziraphale and Crowley.

14) What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

The Courtship of Crowley. It had so much potential, and I feel terrible every time I see it in my docs ☹

15) What are your writing strengths?

I think I have very good character voices. Even if the surrounding bits aren’t as good as I think they are, I think the spoken parts are good 😊

16) What are your writing weaknesses?

I have a problem with letting an action stand on its own in a sentence without adding more. “He pulled on his trousers and checked his phone.” “He made breakfast and then sat down.” I think that I need to break up my sentences more, I abuse ‘and’ and ‘then’ a lot.

17) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I have put in other languages a couple times, and I am always paranoid that someone who speaks that language is going to call me out for obviously using Google translate because it syntax’d terrible lol

18) What was the first fandom you wrote for?

HP – Snermione.

19) What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?

When I was really young I climbed up my aunts fence cause she was talking to her neighbor and she yelled at me to get down and it cut my whole arm. Why are narcissistic co-workers very dangerous to your job?

I can answer from experience…

THANK GOD my immediate co-workers are as empathic and compassionate and passionate about their job as I am… that really helps when someone in the workforce is a clear Narc… when things happen that absolutely don’t make sense… you can have a meeting of the minds and compare notes to see you’re all not crazy…

But it wasn’t always that way… our building was left forlorn and in need of a pick me up. Our former supervisor was a strong leader, but very clear they weren’t staying long. Morale was at an all time low… the new Supervisor swept in as a savior with promises of trust and new faith in a family atmosphere- said everything we wanted to hear- basically…no more lies… we were going to fix this place brick by brick and bring it back to what it was…

Lie after lie… people were pit after one another… things didn’t make sense… adults were fighting… and friendships nearly breaking up after years… until people got together and started to compare stories… and friends made up… and the more trustworthy people confronted each other and the supervisor with a witness… and the cards started to fall…

I can tell you… as forlorn and as low as the morale was… where I work is insanity now… when my supervisor speaks, it’s all about me me me… and it’s amazing how everyone figured it out on their own… everyone was divided…and is slowly coming back together again… unbeknownst to the boss bc they are so self centered… BUT… it is not a nice place to work in. It is vengeful and cruel and like being with middle school girls all the time… not fun.

What happens when a grade A supply discards a narcissist?

After 24 years of marriage to a narc, I left, and I filed for divorce. Here’s my input, my advice, and a bit of my experience.

Short answer is they will rage and try to destroy you. While the experience is unsettling, you need to weather the storm. Since all narcissists follow the same behavioral patterns, there’s no other way to reach happiness and freedom from your narcissist. BUT many have gone before you and I am one such survivor. It is worth it.

Here’s some advice. If you are not married or don’t have kids together, you’re lucky. Cut off all access they have to you and walk away. Block them from calling/texting you and block them from all social media, then make all social media private and remove all of their close friends from your social media. If you are divorcing or have kids together then learn the art of grey rock, and only communicate in written form, especially if you’re going through a divorce. If divorcing with kids, I highly recommend only communicating via a court monitored app like TalkingParents. This last bit of advice may take some time to digest, but cut ties with all of the friends you have in common, especially if they maintain their friendship with the narc. They are all flying monkeys, even if they unwittingly don’t know it. Trust me, in time you won’t regret it.

Learn to forgive the narc. This sounds strange, but remember they have a disorder. Learning to forgive them is for you, not them. The process will shift your mental perception of the narc and the circumstances. I can only say that when I learned this, I completely gained control over everything. She no longer has any control over me, her trigger attempts are now humorous to me, and all of the games that her legal team attempts of intimidation and control fail. In fact, the last time her attorney attempted to intimidate me, just a few weeks ago, I laughed at him. Pissed him off to no ends, which is just so sweet and warming.

Here’s the crappy middle part of the story though. She withheld visitation with my daughter. I spent nearly 6 figures getting custody back, well worth it though and my daughter understands the whole story, for reference she’s almost 15. The narc and her attorneys filed a trumped up Temporary Restraining Order against me. When that failed, she attempted to file trumped up criminal charges against me with the police. Luckily the police saw right through her and refused her attempts. She has smeared me to anyone and everyone, even bizarrely telling the girl who cuts my hair that I am a racist. She attempts to ruin any interaction we have surrounding our daughter; graduations, awards ceremonies, banquets, etc. It’s a bizarre attempt to show dominance and gain narc supply but all it does is demonstrate further to our daughter how nuts she is. She defies court orders. And sadly the list goes on.

The only thing I maintained from our 24 year marriage is the close relationship that I have with my sweet kiddo, and it’s stronger than ever! I’m also happier and more in control of my life than I’ve been in a long long time.

There is a ton of support out there if you are considering leaving a narc, so face your fears head on and go for it. Weather the storm and you will be stronger and wiser than you’ve ever been. Become a survivor!

How does the narcissist “feel” once if they realise that the empath sees them for what they are?

Highly empathetic people, people who lean into the energy/vibes of others, or people who easily pick up on the emotions of others have a strong advantage over narcissists. Face-to-face conversation with a narcissist is the best time to lean into what is going on underneath. Your intuition is your friend, and it will be nudging you quite often when dealing with a narcissist.

Focus in and the truth will reveal itself. It is almost like being in two places at once. Sure, you are looking the narcissist in his/her face. Sure, you are hearing the words that are coming out of the narcissist’s mouth…but you can also pick up on his/her negative energy (even while you are talking, even when the narcissist is silent). You can also sometimes pick up on the insincerity and aggression surrounding his/her words.

The narcissist is a fool in many different ways, and is no match for those who are able to lean into what is going on underneath. The narcissist will come to realize that you are picking up on what is going on underneath, time and time again. Many narcissists are emotionally guarded and try very hard to keep their fragility/vulnerability to themselves, so he/she will be very uncomfortable when you reach out.

Narcissists feel “naked” when you are able to reach their fragility/vulnerability, and they will quickly pull away, like a turtle pulling its head into its shell. You will notice the narcissist’s discomfort if you are able to pin him/her down. They will know that you are able to see through them, and they do not like this.

They do not like having to take a look in the mirror, and when you confront them with their behaviors/actions, you are forcing them to do this. They will attempt to gather themselves, but they will panic. They may attempt to change the subject, maybe crack a joke or ask you a random question. They are quite afraid of emotional intimacy, and some are quite afraid of being negatively judged.

Some know that you will eventually see what they are trying to hide, and some do seem to know when their time is running out. Some entirely collapse when it becomes clear that you have seen through them for the last and final time. Some truly fear abandonment, and will do everything in their power to drag you back into their toxic mess.

Some will desperately attempt to re-gain a sense of control…to pull the wool over your eyes…to reel you back in. They will lose all control. Contradict themselves. You will hear GO, but you will also hear STAY. They will tell on themselves, tell you of what they are really wanting you for. You will feel their desperation, as they attempt to charm and flatter you back into their caves.

You will FEEL the battle between the false and true self. The false self disintegrates, and the true self comes bursting through. The narcissistic balloon deflates.They are begging you to put them back together during collapse. You must take back what you have said. You must promise that you will not leave.

Think of it as a baby crying out for comfort, crying out for his/her mother as she walks out of the room. You will sense that they want your pity. It will all seem like a very intense, very pathetic display of desperation. You have won if you are able to witness this and walk away with your head held high.

“I owe you nothing. I’m chasing you. I resent you. I wish you would have chased me. You rejected me. I’m too good for you. You’re not on my level. I need to find someone who is on my level. I’m rejecting you. You’re a good person. You’re beautiful. You turn me on so much. Please stay. I’m confused. Find someone else. I have nothing to offer.

Please have sex with me. I’m lost. I’M FUCKED UP AND DAMAGED. I can’t do a relationship. Everyone hates me. I’m so horny for you right now. Everyone leaves me. See? You hate me too. Please stop seeing through me. I’m a liar. I’m the shit. I haven’t followed through with anything in my life. I thought you were my mommy. I have no money. I’m so horny. I wouldn’t want to use you. I live 10kms from Cork City Centre, 4 kms from Blarney. Not a “ribbon route” and not “a one off house”. 1.5 yrs ago, my neighbours were provided with full FTTH by Eir, whilst the remaining 400 meters stretch of road, housing 9 houses, 7 apartments and a busy pub/restaurant, were left with less than 1mg. Next tranche of houses over 2 miles away. No joined up thinking, ultimately leaving to the tax payer under the NBP to pick up the tab. My 13 yr old, 1st yr son has Dysgraphia, and uses Ass Tech, for all his educational needs. He has no known health issues or injuries ans has not seen a vet recently. He was given to the owner a year ago and was surrendered due to the land lord not allowing pets. Previously lived with: 1 Adult How is this dog around strangers? Capone is friendly and outgoing when meeting new people. He does jump on guests so small children need to be careful around him. He has a high exuberance level. How is this dog around children? Capone is friendly with children but due to his size and energy level he should not be in a home with young children. How is this dog around other dogs? Capone has interacted with dogs at the park and gets along well with them. If any dogs shows aggressive behaviors towards him he will become fractious. How is this dog around cats? Capone has not lived with cats but his owner stated that he will chase cats he sees in the street. Resource guarding: Capone does not have any resource guarding behavior. This weekend, two teams with contrasting fortunes will take to the field, in the shadow of the Dumbarton Rock for the fourth match day of the Championship season.

So far, the Sons have one win in all competitions with a single goal victory against Rangers U20, 10 days ago. In other results, they were pointless in the League Cup, held Morton at home, relinquished the lead in Grangemouth for a point and defeated at Palmerston.

Athletic started this campaign much better than last. They topped their Betfred Cup group and have accumulating as many points (7) as they had on October 22, 2016. If they were to beat Highland League champions, Buckie Thistle on Tuesday, they would be in the third round of the Challenge Cup afore the end of August.

There is a clear top and bottom half of the table at this early stage. The part-timers would accept fifth at this moment because survival is everything for them. They have no reason to panic yet, but a marquee win could see them kick on. Dunfermline will not want to be the team in that situation.

Keys to the game

Set pieces:

Two of Dunfermline’s three league goals conceded have come from set-pieces. One versus Livingston and the other against Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Four of the nine conceded have also come from set-pieces. Two direct free kicks, one penalty and the other being in the second phase from a dead ball situation.

What appears to happen is that they get to a stage where they are playing well and are comfortable which allows the mistakes to creep in.

The issue with Dunfermline from set plays is that they look disorganised. No-one got out to quell the threat from a short corner at Almondvale and panic set in against Hearts when they were leading 2-1 with a few minutes left in the game.

It is still early days, and those issues should be ironed out by the individuals, but it is the only credible criticism that you can level at the team as a whole.

Jean Yves-M’Voto and Lee Ashcroft have gave away silly penalty kicks through decisions that puzzled viewers. The defenders are prone to odd mistakes that seen a high number of red cards last season. That is going to be harder to eradicate from the experienced players.

Counter attack:

Ryan Williamson likes to get forward and hit the byline that could leave Alistair Roy and Tom Walsh to exploit that space on any potential counter (see the Falkirk goal). Callum Smith, Dean Shiels, Declan McManus, Joe Cardle and Kallum Higginbotham like to do their work in the final third which could leave Nat Wedderburn a little exposed if they push the ball through the central third of the park. Patience will be key for both sides in the game and not start to force opportunities when they present themselves.

Breaking down the defensive set-up:

So far, Dumbarton have set up in a regular 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1, 4-5-1 and a defensive 4-4-2, which has yielded the better results this season. The back four and goalkeeper are settled with one clean sheet (tied second best) and gave up two goals (also tied second best).

Andy Dowie and Dougie Hill are an experienced pair of center backs flanked by a pair of teenagers who provide energy beside them. It is a yin and yang situation that brings out the best in them.

Craig Barr has stepped up as a number six rather than a centre half to give more solidity in the middle of the park and is paired with David Wilson, who moved from Partick Thistle this off-season.

Dean Shiels starting deeper than the wide men may be key in helping shift Barr and Wilson off their x-axis to create space for Callum Smith to manoeuvre into the open field.

The sheer quality of Dunfermline’s chance creation has seen them finish off nine chances in the space of three games and be the highest scoring team in the division may be enough to see off a good, not great Dumbarton side.
