Fanfic Idea! (Lucemond, Hunger Games AU)
Years ago, the District victors voted to have the capitol children fight in the Hunger Games. Since the games ended on the 75th, then the capitol children needed to play 75 times before the game would officially be dissolved. There were many protests, both from the capitol and from some of the districts, but the victors, the ones forced into the games, have spoken, and the era of blood for sport continued.
Lucerys was reaped. A shame, they say, for it was the 74th game, the second to the last game before it would finally be officially dissolved. He could have escaped such a fate, but alas. He had a feeling it would happen, his family was one of the people closely related to the games, and had a history of being reaped multiple times, despite multiple protests. His step-grandmother's side was especially targeted, maybe because while their grandfather was a descendant of politicians, Otto came from the line of gamemakers, and was said to be the one who suggested certain things to his own father to add to the games as a boy.
While Alicent's children were all reaped, at least they all came back alive, though at a cost. Aegon drank his life away, whored himself, wishing to forget everything. Helaena was already odd when she entered the arena, it was a miracle she came out alive, though she was often triggered, and often wasn't "present" in the mind, spacing out, leaving her body for whatever fantasy world she takes herself to. It was Aemond Lucerys had been worried about. An incident occured once, when they were younger, resulting with Aemond losing an eye. The Districts cared not for his disability, and sent him to the arena, thinking he would be the first to die. He came out victorious, though Lucerys couldn't help but notice how brutal he was when killing boys with dark brown hair. Other than that, and the fact that he would get deadly when someone tried to get closer to him on his blind side, he was mostly fine.
And now it was his turn. He doesn't expect anyone to volunteer. He and Jace swore to each other that they wouldn't do that.
So he stood on the stage with a smile, ignoring the varying degrees of relief and pity from the crowd. Glancing at the rest of the tributes, he can already tell he has a problem, the largest one being Dalton Greyjoy, the eighteen year old boy who looked eager rather than frightened. He would be the most dangerous out of all of them.
They all stood while District 13 broadcasted what happened, the war, the Districts' suffering whilst the Capitol enjoyed luxury, the games, then they broadcasted their 74th game, with Katniss Everdeen, the Mockingjay.
They did it every year, broadcasting the suffering of that particular years' games. This year's game was ironically the game where the rebellion rose, when Katniss Everdeen became the face of the revolution.
They were made to watch the entirety of that year's games, to remind both Districts and Capitol why they continued to do the games, the suffering of the Districts' tributes, and why it was necessary the Capitol should feel the pain they did. Why they too should suffer the same.
When it ended, Lucerys felt the dread as it was then time to say goodbye. His mother was sobbing uncontrollably, Jace, couldn't look at him in the eye, but he hugged him tight, and Daemon quickly told him to grab the knife, to defend himself and to hide. They were ushered away by District 2 guards, and Lucerys breathes.
It was different now from then, when it came to which victor would get to train them. Usually, the District victor trains tributes from their own District, but it's different for the Capitol. The past victor gets to choose only one tribute to train, and Lucerys knows which victor he wanted.
He needed Aemond to choose him.

The commitment to never spending money on Arknights is fiercely tested. If someone really wanted to have a six-star gal he encountered in the story, how much that someone would be expected to waste in an average case?
For an illustrative answer, let me share with you my Pain Chart. In order of Most Pain to Least.
But first, let me explain some things:
Most importantly, the current kind of banner ensures that the first Six-Star you pull after 150 pulls will be the featured Six-Star... but there's no telling when that first Six-Star result will happen.
If you see the word "sparking", I don't know why it was coined, only that it means "I got so many condolence-tokens that I could buy the desired operator out of the shop".
"Spooking" means you got an operator who wasn't supposed to have a higher-rate of appearance on the banner.
"Duplicate" means I already got the operator. ("Maxed out potential" is when this happens five times.)
PAST BANNERS, in order of pain
Eyjafjalla Alter did not come home within 300 total pulls, and required sparking. Swire Alter appeared on the 50th roll — 7 times in total, with a Ho'olheyak spook (also a Harmonie spook) and a Mudrock duplicate.
Nearl Alter appeared within 283 rolls (Flametail appeared four times, Rosmontis appeared once).
Gavial Alter appeared on the 271st roll, while Pozyoma appeared on the 53rd roll (and twice more later, not including the four off-banner Six Stars).
Texas Alter appeared on the 14th roll (and three times total within 85 rolls; five times in total), whereas Penance appeared on the 225th pull.
Ascalon as 155th of 161 pulls, after being spooked by duplicates of Mudrock, Reed Alter, Flametail’s last potential, and Ines’ first.
Chongyue on the 59th roll. Lin appeared on the 116th roll of 121 total rolls.
Ch'en Alter appeared within 111 rolls (Mizuki appeared three times).
Goldenglow appeared within 110 rolls.
Execution Alter appeared on the 86th of 90 rolls, along with a copy of Ebenholz, Spuria, and Wind Chimes, and duplicates of Mountain, Archetto, Irene, and Mudrock.
Skadi Alter appeared within 81 rolls (Kal'tsit appeared earlier).
76 rolls on MH banner, got Yato on 74th, got Corne on ??, maxed Corne. Spent another 40 rolls (10 of them for free) chasing duplicates of Yato and got none (except for already-maxed Ifrit, and 4 more for Noir Corne.)
50 rolls out of 180 for Saileach. Stainless didn't appear once in 180 pulls, whereas Horn gained three more potentials.
Typhon appeared on the 68th of 75 total pulls. My first Gnosis spooked me on the 62nd. Santalla appeared at the guarantee on the 5th roll.
Virtuosa on 63rd, Viviana on 62nd of 71 pulls on first day, with Baseline twice
Ela within 60 rolls, Iana within 40, and Doc within 30
Shu twice in 61 rolls
Ines appeared on the 53rd out of 58 rolls.
W appeared after 41 rolls but within 75 rolls (don't know how many more until I got Weedy).
Fiammetta appeared on the 42nd roll (or 52nd).
Specter Alter arrived on the 43rd roll (Irene on the 44th roll).
Dusk appeared after at least 41 rolls (never got Saga).
Nian appeared within 40 rolls (didn't get Aak).
Ling appeared within 34 rolls (Lee appeared twice).
Ray on 32nd of 40 rolls, Jessica Alter dupe on 31st, Warmy on 10th
Horn appeared on the 32nd roll (and the 40th).
Reed Alter appeared on the 29th roll. (lol, didn't get Harmonie.)
Mlynar on the 25th pull (Proviso on the 23rd).
23 out of 34 rolls for Muelsyse, only 10 of which I spent my own resources on, before the last four free pulls. (lol, didn’t get Ho’olheyak)
Jessica Alter arrived on the 18th of 21 pulls. A surplus copy of April was the first pull.
Dorothy arrived on the 20th pull.
Rosmontis appeared within 10 rolls (don't know how many more until I got Mudrock).
Thorns, Andreana, and Jaye within 10 rolls.
Ch'en within 10 rolls?
Skadi within 10 rolls?
No records on how many I spent for Magallan, Hellagur, Schwarz, Blaze, or others. None of which I got on their banners.
Vendela in 3 rolls, without Hoederer or Verdant
One More Thing
Financially, it makes the most sense to roll only one pull at a time, if you can. The logic being that if you finally get the operator you want, you can stop, whereas if the operator you wanted was the first result in a 10-pull bag, then you "wasted" nine other pulls.
In practice, nine other pulls isn't that much, AND they at least have the scant possibility of getting a duplicate of that operator, or your first copy of another one you want.
Also in practice, I think it's much easier to control yourself and STOP if you limit yourself to ten-pulls.
With single-pulls, you're already justifying spending just a little bit more each time, which is not a mindset you want to be in when your reserves go empty.
With ten-pulls, I think I can tell myself, "This ONE BAG, and then no more." At the very least, I stop to recalculate all over again whether another 10-bag is worth the risk.

Meta: Help Rationalizing THG Worldbuilding
I originally posted this on reddit, even though I'm not really a redditor, because I've had trouble getting much traction on tumblr lately. I just made this sideblog, though, so I decided to share it just in case anyone wanted to discuss this with me.
According to the first book, all we really get about the history of the world of Panem is:
everyone kind of knows their education of history is propaganda, even if they don't have the word for it
Panem is in what used to be called North America, but an unspecified series of natural disasters and wars led to the rise of Panem's current regime
it's the 74th Annual Hunger Games, meaning that it's been somewhere about 75-80 years since the ultimate conclusion of the Rebellion of the Districts against the Capitol, implying that there was some period of time before the rebellion of the Districts and the "Dark Days" during which Panem was the seat of power that was risen up against
Before the existence of the prequel novel, I think that some of us sort of thought that this pre-Panem era might have been the dying days of the United States. However, it seems that it's pretty impossible for that to be true, given how different socially and culturally the Panem of young Coriolanus Snow.
I think it is implied that the excessive reliance upon Greco-Roman pseudo-language, nomenclature, and symbols, was part of a concerted effort on the part of those pulling the strings - people like Dr. Gaul and her ilk - to evoke certain theoretical states of being, directly and intentionally evoking panem et circenses as a mission statement and a weird if-you-know-you-know kind of dig at masses who were kept ignorant, both in and outside the Capitol. (Of course, this is really convenient when you're a YA author trying to drive home and teach a point at the same time.)
However, this had already started before the Rebellion, making it clear that the Capitol was rebuilt much in its own image, even if certain things intensified. And the Capitol of the TBOSAS movie is one that evokes both familiar imagery from the original film triology and a much harsher imagery that draws on very harsh federal and classical architecture, mixed with a kind of Soviet propaganda flavored art style and brutalism. (I'm using these words with a vague understanding of what they mean but an acknowledgment that there may be better descriptions of what I'm talking about.)
This, in turn, perplexes me, because I had sort of understood the Capitol's decadence to have been very... LA-flavored from the start. I had presumed that the Capitol had a hard time that might have more resembled starving in a resort, the way Katniss describes the situation when they're infiltrating the Capitol in Mockingjay. I had also come to the Aha moment, a couple years ago when teaching The Hunger Games (the first book) to seventh graders, that the "Capitol Accent" was a future-evolved version of verbal fry a la the Kardashians or something. I thought that the Capitol population might have been a "Hollywood Elite" run inland to the Rockies due to, I dunno, part of California falling into the sea. I thought that this might have also gone along with the idea that power is in spectacle, and there are conservative people all over who yell and scream about the Hollywood effectively being some kind of lefty shadow government, or whatever.
TBOSAS threw this perception for a loop, when one sees that the color and glitz and glamor of the Capitol, having healed and vampire-sucked the Districts for seven decades, seems to have had a weird original story with Lucy Gray and Dr. Gaul's warring colors, spectacle, and appeal.
While the Tenth Hunger Games are wiped from record as best as they can, the collective memory of Lucy Gray and how much the people started to become invested in her, along with the spectacle of the snakes, pushed and impression of a wild, freer aesthetic -- at least in terms of a first domino falling. At least, that's my current perception.
But, as described, it really challenges my prior conception of what the Capitol is, culturally speaking, and where it and the rest of Panem came from.
The Covey, also, may be an even bigger thorn in my side in this regard. I absolutely love the representation of something of my Appalachian heritage in the music that is depicted in TBOSAS. I also love the way it filters down into Katniss's story. However, the existence of the Covey also seems like something very anachronistic even for this imaginary-future timeline.
During what kind of era and circumstances where the Covey's parent generation - Lucy Gray's mother and others - existing?
Was in the the Capitol era before the Dark Days war? It must have been, right? But what came immediately before that?
The Covey seem to draw some vague flavor from pop culture perceptions of the Roma (which is kind of weird for the Appalachians but who knows and Roma can be anywhere they want), but it seems even more rooted in some kind of spiritual connection to - for example - the Carter Family becoming involved in syndication and touring with music that was previously unknown to the rest of America and the world. With Bristol, Tennessee/Virginia, being the "Birthplace of Country Music."
But that happened during the early 20th century.
One presumes that the timeline of Panem and The Hunger Games diverges from our own sometime in our own future, but has this perception on my part been wrong all along?
Is The Hunger Games universe better-perceived as something like the Fallout universe where it's sort of a nuclear-power-arms-race-punk divergent timeline well BEFORE the apocalypse that resulted in the present dystopia?
I would love to hear anyone's opinion on this, whether it's a reassurance that "just don't worry about it" is the best approach or someone who's better at worldbuilding-brain than I offering some kind of explanation - whether based on canon or fanon.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

Fanfic idea #8
ok so its been a while.
and yes, i have another fic in the works
but hear me out
hunger games au
with nct dream
so, rough story line, takes place either when the original hunger games do (74-75) or during the 99th and 100th games. y/n won the hunger games years before, as a twelve year old, she's strong and mildly scary... and i feel like "The Nightmare of the Hunger Games" has a nice ring to it, but lemme know what you think.
anyways, she's the distirct twelve mentor and the dreamies are tributes (i'll put districts at the bottom)
the 74th/99th games go by and the boys pull a katniss-peeta situation and wind up winning together.
and then along comes the 100th/75th games. now this is why i was thinking 100th games, because of course it's going to be the victors playing in the games, and of course all 8 of them (dream and y/n) are going to be reaped, so we need some bad tributes who go all murdery on them, but then we need to have some that are a part of the rebellion.
so why not make the 100th games a special edition? a combo of all three previous quarter quells :) thats a marvelous idea
and so for the 75th, the victors are reaped. the 50th, double the tributes, two boys and two girls from each district (which proves to be a problem, since 12 only has two boys and one girl (Mark, Taeyong, and y/n (yes taeyong is from twelve, i want him there, so there he is))). and for the 25th, an election held to vote for the tributes. volunteers still accepted, of course.
and then the rest of the story, 13 and what not.
now for the districts tributes. this will include their districts, ages at the reaping of the 99th games (so everyone ages 1 year for the 100th) and the games they won. jsyk, the hunger games take place in july, so ages are based around that :)
Jeno - district 1. age 17. 99th
Renjun - district 2. age 17. 99th
Chenle - district 3. age 15. 99th
Haechan - district 4. age 17. 99th
Jisung - district 7. age 15. 99th
Jaemin - district 11. age 16. 99th
Mark - district 12. age 17. 99th
y/n - district 12. age 16. 95th
Taeyong - district 12. age 21. 93rd
other members can be included as mentors, tributes, stylists, escorts, rebellion members, friends from districts, whatever, if you wish.
if anyone has any ideas on what the other members should be, please comment and let me know

It's Reaping Day! May the odds be ever in your favor.
Do you think it’s significant that the Reaping is on USA's Independence Day? Why do you think Suzanne Collins choose this date?
Do you think Reaping of 74th Hunger Games is rigged? Yes/No? Why?
If the Reaping could be rigged. Who do you think participate in this process?
Thank you.
@curiousthg
Hi. Oh, thanks, I'm catching my luck on the fly!
Hmm, I think it's important that Susan chose this date, she gave us time to think about some details. I'm not from America, so I didn't really delve into the theme of the "Independence Day" holiday, but there is definitely a connection. Each of us will find some kind of solution. The author chose this date to connect some moments of our lives.
I don't think "74 Hunger Games" was thought out. They were ordinary. I don't see anything that has been thought out. They chose Prim, and her sister protected her, and then Pete showed up, as far as I'm concerned, it was pure chance. 75 games have already been thought out here and there were special people there)
I don't even know, I can't answer the third question, it's complicated.
And thanks for the question, ask them more often!

October 7, 2022.
I’m on the way in breaking my record for the most visits to New York City in a single year. Three of these visits were to see Boy Harsher and Cold Waves’ X in Brooklyn, and Sacred Bones’ 15th anniversary label showcase out in Queens (Maspeth). Three more of these were visits to record stores: twice at Academy and once at Captured Tracks. Well, this is visit #7: a routine visit to the city doctor. This time in East Manhattan overlooking the East River.
And, it’d be one of the quickest. Penn Station to the ‘Q’ line and a few steps  to 74th St. The stay was no more than 75 minutes before I bolted out and headed back to the ‘Q’ for Penn Station. For some reason, I didn’t feel like staying. I knew it was going to bite me later on. Not only was I dissatisfied in having work the next day, but my anxiety didn’t want to have any of today.

How an A-10 Warthog won a "kill" mark of a cow 🐄
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 02/19/23 - 12:00 in History, Military
In addition to all A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft in the U.S. Air Force fleet, an A-10 Warthog with serial number 81-994 may be among the most exclusive for a simple reason: it is the only aircraft we know to boast the mark of a slaughter, or "kill", of a cow.
Attributed to the 107th "Red Devils" Fighter Squadron, of the 127th Michigan National Air Guard Wing, at the Selfridge National Air Guard Base, the A-10 in question was seen in official photos of the U.S. Air Force displaying a yellow marking there slaughtering a cow next to other numerous weapon markings released in combat.
The marking of the slaughter of the cow dates back to at least 2017, when the commemorative painting of World War II in red and green of the A-10 of the 107th was launched to honor the 100th anniversary of the Red Devils. In 2018, the A-10 cow killer even appeared on a commemorative flight over the beaches of Normandy on the 74th anniversary of the D-Day invasion.
Tumblr media

The mark of the cow's victory is clearly visible on the aircraft's fuselage. (Photo: U.S. Air Force / Spc. John Brandenburg)
There are many rumors about the mark of the slaughter of the cow since it was first seen in U.S. Air Force photos. According to a report at The Aviation Geek Club, ground troops moved to an enemy village in an "unrevealed location" after an assortment of approximate air support with the A-10 where they left a cow "in pieces by 30 mm 'hot freedom" of the iconic Gatling GAU-8/A seven-barrel cannon of the A-10.
So, what's the story behind this unique 'kill' marking? According to Penelope Carroll, spokeswoman for the 127th Wing, the A-10 "unbelledly" killed a cow during aerial operations during the deployment of the 107th Fighter Squadron in Iraq.
Tumblr media
Although minimal information about the particular mission was available, Carroll referred additional questions to the U.S. Central Command.
About 350 aviators and a dozen A-10s of the Michigan National Air Force were sent to Iraq and Syria in April 2015 as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, the U.S.-led fight against the caliphate of the Islamic State group, according to the Detroit Free Press.
Speaking about the deployment at the time, Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters praised the effectiveness of the approximate A-10 air support capabilities. That said, blowing up cows was probably not what they had in mind.

Tumblr media

What are your thoughts on the District 11 tributes in the 74th (Rue and Thresh) and 75th (Seeder and Chaff) The Hunger Games?
How do you think life differs between Distinct 11 and 12?
*Spoiler alert*
What do you think about the inserted scene of rebellion in District 11 in the first movie (scene after Rue's death)?
Thank you :)
@curiousnonny
I love all the D11 tributes! Rue in partiuclar is so important. Thresh, Seeder and Chaff are also very good characters.
Well, the biggest difference I think would be that one is mainly dealing with agroculture and the other with mining. In D11 they likely change jobs season to season and deal with things like food storage and that. Were as 12 deals with mining, which is mostly the same all year round, but has it's own particular dangers and time table, as well as quota.
I think it is VERY important to see the direct reation to Katniss honoring Rue, and her mourning. It shows how Katniss was different, why what she did changed things after 75 years, enough for people to begin to stand up.

Spoiler for The Hunger Games : Mockingjay.
What do you think about Coin proposed a final hunger games with Capitol children?
When do you think Coin had this idea, since beginning or later?
Do you think it undermined the whole purpose of the rebellion?
Do you have hope that Paylor would be a good leader?
Thank you.
@curiousnonny
Hi @curiousnonny thanks for the question!!
I think Coin suggesting a final Hunger Games was a quick way to gain support from the districts but also a way of maintaining control against anyone who went against her. The district spent 75 years dealing with the trauma of sending their children to the Hunger Games and suffering under the capitol's control. In their immediate post-war state, I doubt many in the districts would have anything inflicting the trauma and pain they felt onto those who did it to them. Support is important because although the districts are grateful for district 13's help, they may also have felt abandoned since district 13 abandoned the rest of Panem to suffer whilst they lived relatively trauma-free. As for being a method of control, Coin's initial proposed games were put forth as symbolic, to hurt the losers of the war and to be a one-off event but I can 100% imagine Coin having them continue. Coin could easily put forth a 2nd round of hunger games with those who threaten her rule as the tributes as a sort of punishment. People would be okay with it since it's just prisoners or rebels, not innocent citizens but she could easily claim those who question her or are against her as "rebels" and throw them in too.
I think Coin got the idea after seeing the effect of Katniss and Peeta winning the 74th Hunger Games. She saw the power of the Hunger Games for her cause and probably believed that perpetuating it would benefit her when she controlled Panem.
I definitely think it 100% undermined the whole purpose of the rebellion. Whilst the masses (aka the districts) would have been free from the Capitol's control, a new hunger games (even just one) would perpetuate a culture and environment which would lead the people of the Capitol (and maybe districts 1 and 2 due to their relationship with the Capitol) to be treated the same way the districts were. This would not solve any of the problems the rebellion sought to fix because they've just swapped roles.
I don't really have any opinion of Paylor's ability to be a good leader since I honestly don't remember her much. That being said, I think she'd be much better than Coin since she is more likely to avoid repeating history due to her experience actually living in Panem (Coin was relatively sheltered in comparison)
