this is an infinity war post, so no endgame spoilers here! guys, remember when thanos exchanged gamora for the soul stone? we all know that the required sacrifice for the said stone is for you to sacrifice someone you love, and that red skull could never get it because he loved no one? now, i’ve been seeing posts where people are mentioning that thanos and gamora’s “father-daughter relationship” is toxic and is not at all love, and to be frank, i agree. it isnt love. but thanos could beg to differ. many abusers (yes you heard me, abuser, that’s what thanos is) believe that what theyre doing is love. its their own twisted thought that what theyre doing is for the greater good. just like thanos snapping half of our population off the planet. so if the requirement to get the soul stone is to sacrifice someone you love, even if it may not even be (a healthy) love, as long as the person obtaining the soul stone truly feels what they percieve to be love for their sacrifice, then the chances are they’ll get the soul stone with no problem.
