OnK Chapter 152
Tumblr media
Soooo as someone who reads this for Akane and for Akane only, I have to say that I'm feeling cautiously optimistic about her role in the upcoming arc.
Tumblr media
We're entering the final arc and she has yet to get her second volume cover. If she doesn't get Volume 15 (and I'm praying she doesn't), then that should mean that whatever happens in the upcoming volumes (the final volumes!) will involve her enough to warrant saving her second cover to this late in the game.
We're entering the final arc and she just narrated the lead-up to it.
We're entering the final arc and it's happening right alongside the Second Season, which is the season that will cover most of Akane's important chapters. So if Aka wants to deliver parallels, then there's a lot of potential for Akane to be involved.
...Watch Mengo and Aka stick her on the cover of Volume 15 and call it a day 🤡 But for now, I'll keep praying that we get a Goro/Aqua cover so that Akane is free to be used in better volumes.
I don't have much to say about the chapter this time around. I think we all knew that Aka was getting ready to end the manga, so I for one was happy to see that we're entering the final arc. The sooner we're freed, the better!
It's hard to gauge how long this arc will be, but I'd bet on ~30 chapters plus an Epilogue Arc. Coincidentally, there are exactly 28 weeks left until Christmas. In the manga, they are in November right now and Kana's Graduation (the most important moment in the manga, apparently) will take place on Christmas. So I can totally see Aka wanting his fictional Christmas to happen during, well, Christmas.
If he does it, then we could be getting 3 more volumes worth of content plus 1 volume for the Epilogue. Maybe.
Or maybe he will try to rush it and end it even sooner so that whoever gets hurt gets hurt when the anime adapts Chapters 64 - 65. That would be so rushed even for his standards that it would be wild, but anything is possible when it comes to bad writing lmao
Leaving that aside, look at my girl.
Tumblr media
I love her. I love her so much. She has got quite a few reasons to be making this face, IMO.
Ruby was able to find a peaceful way to have her revenge and is thus ready to start healing, and the answer she found is healing those around her, too. Like Gotanda and Kaburagi.
Ai's heart was presumably portrayed in an accurate fashion, which is sure to pull at her hearstrings.
And considering that Aqua was the one who edited the movie, I think it says something about his current disposition that he respected Ruby's take and left the movie as it is, so that may be giving Akane another reason to smile.
Speaking about Gotanda and Kaburagi, I feel like their conversation foreshadows a lot of what this final arc will be dealing with.
Making amends, overcoming regrets and moving towards the future...
Tumblr media
... people lying to themselves and "bottling themselves up"...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
yet still holding out onto hope, deep down, of being able to fulfill the dreams that they have been denying themselves of all along.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This comment in particularly reminded me so much of Aqua lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which takes me to: Aka's writing is so clumsy that his star changing colors every other chapter comes across as flip-flopping 😂
Tumblr media
Back when his stars briefly became white only to turn black again, it served a purpose. It showed that while Ruby's words pacified the "Goro" side of him, he hadn't fully healed yet. If Aqua having his white star again is meant to signify that Kana's words managed to pacify the "Aqua" side of him, then... why in the world didn't we see his eyes go white last chapter? 🤡 If Kana is the reason why Aqua seems to have hopes for the future now, why not show it?
For my own sanity, I have to believe something happened in the time-skip. Maybe editing the movie was actually cathartic or something, who knows. I'm not even going to theorize anything about this, because the writing is giving me whiplash lmao so I'm just going to take a moment to point out that while Mengo took the time to give Aqua the haircut he is supposed to have here as per the prologue, she left out the piercing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I find that kind of funny, honestly, that this is where Aka seemingly draws the line. With all the stuff that Aka off-panels, Aqua getting a random piercing off-panel wouldn't have been shocking at all 😂
Another thing I found funny:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How many times does Aka need to repeat the same thing? Does he think our attention span is that short? 😭 Not to mention these words feel empty right now because he just went on a data with Kana with zero issue. Apparently, for Aka keeping his distance is only a thing if it involves making sure Aqua interacts with Akane as little as possible lmao
Oh, right!
How could I forget the big twist!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wake me up when Kamiki interviews Akane 😂

@jo1sstuff i'm going to reply to this in its own post so i can find it and add to it later more easily if i need to
also it's under the cut because it's a demonstation that's long af
tldr: technology
so here is the line of thinking that got me to this conclusion:
1) episode 65 presents something totally different from any other category we've met so far, and that is analog horror (so found footage, creepy videos, possessed digital devices, and the likes). usually it is about something that's old, or older than the person who uses it (just like tessa winters in 2017 who finds the (alleged) program made by sergei yshanka in the 1980's)
and analog horror has been a very important part of the 'new age' of horror as technology and the internet grew. there are some very famous things like the movies the ring and blair witch project, or mickey mouse whistling, or the scp foundation, or the new doom mod, or creepy pasta, you get the idea
my personal comment: it's very meta to have an episode on analog horror which is literally an ancestor and relative to tma itself, and i LOVE this
2) tessa winters makes a loooong monologue about the differences between analog and digital and draws our attention to jon's tape recorder
which reminded me of the very first episode where he explains why he records some statements on tape: "I plan to digitise the files as much as possible and record audio versions, though some will have to be on tape recorder, as my attempts to get them on my laptop have met with… significant audio distortions." (unofficial transcripts)
3) in episode 62, gertrude says: "Who does the book come from?" and mary keay responds: "The End, of course." (unofficial transcripts)
notice how she said 'who' and not 'where'. so my guess is the categories are not only there to classify the different types of fears but also have an 'entity' or a 'god' attached to it
my personal comment: i like the idea that they are similar to the great old ones from lovecraft, who also plays a very fundamental part in today's horror
4) i'm then reminded of american gods by neil gaiman (<3), where the gods of the old worships have a war with the new ones (technology, media, etc.)
which brings us back to our point no.2 (analog vs. digital), and the fact that apparently the only things that won't go into jonathan's computer are the statements that fit into the categories, so that are associated with our 'old gods' (the end, and the 13 others)
"why wouldn't they go digital?" you might ask. well, because they are at war with digital and the new technologies (or something of that kind). here i quote the unofficial transcripts from mag47: jonathan says: "You make it sound like there’s a… war." to which delirium michael responds with: "[heh] Then I will say nothing further. I wouldn’t wish to tarnish your ignorance prematurely."
5) the fear of our future being taken over by technology is a very real thing (detroit become human comes to my mind rn, also fallout somehow (even though it's more about capitalism but technology is still important, i.e. nuclear weapons), also the current discourses with ai, etc.)
so its just a draft for now, but my guess is something along the lines of 'technology' or like 'progress'
P.S. (i know editing a post after it has been posted is bad but honetly idc): you (jo1sstuff) said something about the 15th corridor not being there at the time of episode 35, which confirms this theory about 'technology' being a new, emergent deity

Where did you watch Don't Look Back (1964)? I've been wanting to watch it for a while now because I'm always itching for literally ANY Alan Price content but I don't know where to find it to watch it. I was wondering if you knew?
HELLO AAAAA THANK YOU FOR REACHING OUT TO ASK!! Dont Look Back is constantly playing on loop in my brain... my favorite movie of all time, no contest, and not just because the fruity and moody piano man who changed my life plays the comic relief and emotional linchpin (though, I could honestly write a huge analysis on the significance of his role in the film as a whole)... it's such a great time that perfectly encapsulates why I love that era of music so much - especially that snapshot-existence of early-'65. 🥹
Tumblr media
(More under the cut because Connie starts rambling...)
Anyway, the place I originally watched the film was on YouTube (back in 2020!) A full, high-quality upload of the movie was on the platform (miraculously never taken down for copyright) for years... up until that stupid SESAC situation happened on YouTube a couple of months back. A lot of Bob's content was caught in the crossfire, and while most of the music and videos came back, those full uploads of Dont Look Back are all gone now for some reason. There is still one single upload of the movie on YouTube, however, it's AI-colorized and upscaled to... mixed results 😬 Putting aside my own feelings and negative bias towards AI tools being used in that way (especially because the colorization of films can be an expression of art in itself), it just doesn't look super good?? In my opinion?? It just superimposes a lot of oranges and browns to everyone's skin and hair and that's it,, not a lot of those truly striking colors that 60s London was known for, especially in the mod/beat scenes. Not to mention, like a lot of black and white movies from that time period, it honestly feels *best* to experience it the way that people 60 years ago saw it, because the choice to make it black and white in the first place was an artistic decision, in a lot of ways (along with being a practical choice on Pennebaker's part, no doubt).
All of that to say... I have both Dont Look Back and 65 Revisited saved to my Google Drive and I'd be happy to share it with you 👀 Alan's in only a bit of 65 Revisited, but it's the part in the Newcastle tie shop which is 10/10. I also have Snapshots from the Tour saved on my computer - it isn't saved on my Google Drive yet, but I can send it your way as well if you'd like 🙏 There's a great scene in that one where Alan's talking about blues music with Albert Grossman (Bob's manager) and Tom Wilson (Bob's record producer, later for the Animals as well after they ditched Mickie Most) and agghhhgGggh IT'S SO FASCINATING TO WATCH. ALSO. ALAN PRICE CIRCA 1965. AAAAAA. Freshly seperated from the band (and the Eric) who introduced him to that music in the first place... CRIES SO LOUDLY.
SO.... yes!!! Feel free to message me and I'll share that link with you!! 🥹 IT'S SUCH A GREAT AND FUNNY AND INTRIGUING MOVIE whether you're a Bob Dylan fan or Donovan fan or Alan Price fan or just a fan of that era of music in general AAAAA as I said before... IT CHANGED MY LIFE. ALAN PRICE HAS A MENTAL BREAKDOWN AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN THE SAME. /pos

Jurassic World 3: Il dominio: I dinosauri ci ridimensionano
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Jurassic World - Il Dominio: un'immagine del trailer
I dinosauri in mezzo a noi: inquietante, ma affascinante
Tumblr media
E alcuni fanno i registi.
Un film che non ci si aspetta
Tumblr media
Jurassic World: Il Dominio, Chris Pratt in motocicletta
Tumblr media
Jurassic World: Il Dominio, una fotografia
Tra spy-story e action movie
Tumblr media
Jurassic World: Il Dominio - Sam Neill, Laura Dern e Jeff Goldblum
I dinosauri, nelle scene d'azione in modo naturale
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Jurassic World: Il Dominio, Bryce Dallas Howard in una foto del film
I dinosauri ci rendono umili
Tumblr media
Jurassic World: Il Dominio, uno scontro tra dinosauri
Jurassic World: Il dominio è un film spettacolare.

Given they’re soft rebooting again… what’s your Jurassic world 4/jurassic park 7/ Jurassic animals and also Triassic and Cretaceous animals make life difficult: the movie pitch? I feel like, as fun as the sequels can be, they’ve lost the science parable and horror/thriller elements of the classic - for all its faults; at least lost world has that.
Hmm... I'm gonna think like a movie executive. What's hot right now? AI's hot, right? It's the buzz. I propose a hard reboot.
Crichton's original novel opens with this big screed about a near future where we have "designer genetics." Genetic manipulation gets easier and easier and I think it's said Jurassic Park takes place in a world where it's getting to the point that parents can custom-order what kind of kids they'll have by selecting specific genetic traits. (It's been a while since I've read it)
Jurassic Park the movie shows human beings physically modifying genetic code by hand using VR displays, but Mr. DNA also admits that "a full DNA sequence contains 3 billion genetic codes." So it's ridiculous to assume that a human being could edit the genetic code by hand. One sequence would take years to get right, maybe even a lifetime.
So our story is that we have some 20 something silicon valley tech bro. He got outrageously rich off of crypto and NFTs and was smart enough to cash out early. We frame him as altruistic but around the edges we can see maybe he's not the greatest person. It's suggested he knew crypto was kind of a scam, which is why he got out early, but obviously he was in crypto at all to begin with, which does not bode well. But he's supposedly "one of the smart ones." Now he's rich! And cool! And using his powers for "good." He's beloved in pop culture.
The next wave is here. Neural network LLM Artificial Intelligence. He's all in. It's the next crypto. And he starts a company that uses LLM AI to "solve the genetic algorithm." He spins this out into a financial empire where people can custom-order pets with specific traits. But obviously people with a lot of money start wondering if maybe they can get more... exotic products.
With the realm of cats, dogs and parrots conquered, our techbro begins phase 2: recreating extinct animals. This is a guy who thinks he's going to save the world by restoring lost links in the food chain (without doing enough research to see how that would change our existing ecosystem, since he could be resurrecting an invasive species).
He's going to debut the first of his phase 2 work at an event he's calling Jurassic Park, because he's going to demonstrate the first living dinosaurs in 65 million years. Jurassic Park will continue to operate as a massive nature reserve; a symbol of his control of life itself.
Obviously: everything goes wrong. The AI has never had to change this much genetic code before. It has to make up whole entire sections of DNA. The end result is unpredictable, but techbro is confident that if the AI sequenced things well enough that something could actually hatch from the egg, then it's safe.
It is not safe.
Not only do we not understand anything about dinosaur behavior, these technically aren't even dinosaurs. They're genetic mutants. The on-site dinosaur expert brought in with the press to verify Jurassic Park's claims quickly realizes that while some of these dinosaurs are accurate in some ways, a lot of them have hard deviations away from known science. Muscles that aren't quite right, appendages that aren't the right size, things like that. Maybe their brains and brain chemistry are slightly different.
The question remains whether known science was wrong or whether the AI made something up that was never true.
The question is brought up again when we learn a technician within Jurassic Park sabotaged everything intending to steal the genetic learning data from techbro's servers. Techbro says the thief poisoned the data and that's gotta be why there's mutations.
The security systems fail. The thief has left them to their creations. Jurassic Park as we know it happens.
Since a lot of movies have to deal with this, all throughout this, nobody has phones. To prevent leaks, all of their phones were confiscated before they entered Jurassic Park and locked in a security checkpoint. Our techbro, maybe as a sign of solidarity, even gives his phone to the security guy. We could even say maybe they've been having security issues beforehand, to set up the thief hacking everything before he actually does it.
Anyway, since our thief sabotaged the park's own communication channels, a lot of the movie is about getting back to that security checkpoint, breaking in, and getting their phones so they can call for help.
Oh, and also: all of Jurassic Park's vehicles are electric, too, and tied into the security mainframe. Since the park's whole security system was hacked and disabled, none of the vehicles can be operated. The only thing that works are these little golf carts, but they're small, can't go very fast, and offer little protection. Maybe our survivors try one, it gets smashed by a triceratops, and they're too far away from the depot to go back for a new one. So a lot of the movie is them traversing the park on foot.
As they're being chased by dinosaurs through the park itself, they end up deep in the core of a genetics lab. And it's here we learn the dark truth: there is a wide margin of failure. The recently deceased specimens are all kept for study and learning and there's a lot because the AI fails often, and it has to be taught not to do that. We see dozens of disfigured animals. Bits and pieces of dinosaurs, pets, and even, in one tank... human parts. These tanks are labeled "phase 3."
Not only are the mutated dinosaurs not the work of sabotage, this guy's been trying to create genetically modified people. We have our big "what have you done?" moment of horror. One of the last surviving members of the press is going to blow the whistle on this place. It's over. Maybe it's someone we build up as the techbro's new friend discovering that their hero wasn't who he said he was.
Just then, a dinosaur bursts in and kills that person. Drama! Tragedy!
Obviously, the survivors find a way out. Techbro has to live with his own conscious. Multiple people died at his hands on this day and he had a hand in creating some of the worst sins against nature mankind has ever seen.
(Or maybe we stick to the original Jurassic Park book and he dies just before getting on the escape chopper.)

what do u think of the AI issue in Hollywood and in the workforce in general. should we start worrying we will no longer have jobs?
People have been losing jobs since the first cave person figured out how to make the wheel. People need to adapt and have adapted through the ages. Civilization will always need nurses, plumbers, electricians, sanitation workers, health care workers, farmers, and other jobs deemed essential aka dirty work that many civilians feel are beneath them.
On the subject of AI issues in Hollywood, so where was all the grief 20 years ago when CGI started to take away traditional special effect and art department jobs from IATSE crews? I seem to recall that exactly Zero number of writers or actors having issues with that, but now it could effect them. You can't stop progress, adapt or be left without work. There's no inalienable right to be in this business.
Look at it this way, when the studios use AI, it's only going to hurt them because people don't want to watch movies and shows written by robots, even if they are better than what writers can do. There is a sterility that the human brain can recognize. When audiences stop watching, writers will be back. There is a believable speculation that The Rings of Power was written by an AI and that's why 65% of the audience did not finish watching the series. I suspected the strange line about "ship only looks up while stone only looks down" was lifted from Avatar when Sully captured a prized flying creature from above because as an alpha, he "never looks up".

THUNDERCRACKER ( Voyager ) Studio Series 89
Tumblr media

Pokemon Sword Completion
Yesterday I completed Pokemon Sword, a task that I was not really looking forward to as I have already completed it once and my switch and games were stolen last year and while I had managed to get everything back all of my save data were deleted so I had to completely start over from scratch, which I didn't want to do and why I avoided it until now. But a realization hit me as I was playing Ultra Moon, which is the game I'm currently playing to get finished for the ribbon master challenge. I realized that I could cheese pokemon sword by going to the Dynomax Adventure area to get myself a Suicune BEFORE the first gym. when this realization hit me, I saved my ultra moon game and put it down and I booted up pokemon sword.
When I got to Motostoke city, I went through the normal gym challenge cut scene to start your gym challenge. Thankfully I had my movie cut scenes options off so I didn't have to watch through it, but after that cutscene was finished, I flew back to wedgeworth station and the slowpoke cutscene started. This confirmed I unlocked the ability to go to Crown Tundra. I caught my slowpoke, and I went to Crown Tundra. I did the normal things, I lost to Peony since I'm working with a level 10 Grookie and he has a level 70 Copperajah, thankfully you don't need to beat him. After loosing my fight, I went to get my prize, Suicune.
It took me two tries to get Suicune all thanks to the AI NPCs that I was running with, but this first failed attempt got me a level 65 Daruladon which proved to be a really good choice later down the line. I got my Suicune after my 2nd attempt and I gave it this move pool Surf, Crunch, Ice Fang, Extrasensory. This move list proved very useful and I kinda wish I had different moves like Dazzling Gleam, but I didn't have access to it so any dark types I ran into, I had to brute force it. Which is what I did in the ENTIRE game. With Suicune in my party, I swept the entire game. it was level 70 and I was able to use it BEFORE THE FIRST BADGE! let me reiterate that, I was able to get a level 70 legendary before the first gym and clean sweep the gym challenge with it. If I wanted to, I could have easily get a team of level 70 legendaries and just beat the whole game with them. but I decided having Suicune and Daruladon was all I needed and it was. The game was easy up until Raihan and the championship (the Elite four variant of Sword/Shield) Suicune had a little trouble here and there but I never lost. I think I've counted 4 times that suicune actually fainted and 2 times that it came close to feinting.
When I got to the fight with Leon my team consisted of Suicune, Daruladon, and Eternatus. I actually had to use a full restore and a revive on suicune because Leon's Seismitoad threw me off and I couldn't figure out why, the reason? its a water'/ground when I thought it was a water/fighting the entire time. oops. but I still beat Leon on my first attempt and my pokemon sword game is complete. Next I need to get Ultra Moon Finished and then I need to move on to other pokemon games so that I can prepare for the Ribbon Master Challenge.

So I'm not into Jurrasic Park unless Commander Mills is there. But the new trailer/lore is so intriguing.
Hi!
I haven’t heard much about it other than it’s happening. I googled trailers and only saw some terrible ai thing that had clips of the ugly bowlegged Komodo dragon looking dinosaurs from 65 in it 🤣
I’d be awesome if it’s a good one. I like Scarlett Johansson. I love the first Jurassic Park and the first reboot, but otherwise I was never super into the movies. I’ve read all the books too and they’re always great. Crichton is a favorite of mine.
