So  he  felt  the  desire  to  run,  not  because  he  didn't  love  her.  But  because  he  was  fucking  terrified  that  he  loved  her  too  much.  The  type  of  love  that  would  have  him  burning  down  cities.  The  sort  of  love  that  would  have  him  putting  his  life  on  the  line  to  know  that  she  would  be  okay.  And  that  was  a  dangerous  sort  of  love.  It  made  him  feel  desperate,  out  of  control,  and  Ian  had  spent  the  majority  of  his  life  trying  to  push  away  the  parts  of  himself  he  didn't  like.  The  dark  parts.  The  parts  that  wanted  to  hurt,  the  part's  that  made  him  like  Zola.  

What  he  slipped  up?  What  if  he  hurt  her,  because  he  was  being  reckless,  because  he  couldn't  control  himself?  What  if  he  was  destined  to  be  some  self  fulling  prophecy?  "  I  -  "  he  began  to  say,  a  lump  forming  in  his  throat,  from  the  swell  of  emotion  he  was  expressing.  "  Kira  -  I  -  I've  been  in  love  with  you  since  the  moment  SHIELD  paired  us  up  for  the  first  time.  I'm  sure  their  regretting  that  one.  But  I  don't.  I've  never  felt  the  way  I  feel  about  you  for  anyone.  And  it  scares  the  shit  out  of  me.  "

Ian didn't really talk about dimension z much, but that was mostly because most people didn't ask. Too afraid to say or ask the wrong thing. ❛ The condition's are harsh. The days are hot, and the night's are below freezing. Most of it is barren land expect for the capital Zolandia, ❜ he explained.

❛ Which is ultra modern. The alien race that lives there--- they're called phrox are mostly harmless. Although most of them are loyal to Zola... my sister still lives there. ❜ He wasn't sure if that was still true, but that's the last time he'd seen her.

“What was it like…the dimension you came from?” Maybe she shouldn’t have asked that. It felt a little too personal. But Scarlett’s curiosity always got the better of her, especially during moments of boredom—like now, keeping watch over the building where they’d tracked suspected Hydra activity. This was definitely one of those moments, at least there was something to do. She cast a quick apologistic glance at Ian. “If you don’t mind talking about it, of course.”

I always feel like this is an underrated moment between both of these characters.

Scott's awkward as fuck, and generally tends to avoid a lot of physical contact himself. He was isolated in the past, and now he's in a time period where everyone basically treats him like the baby version of a monster. "Don't touch me!" is a common refrain.

But he sees someone who seems to need physical comfort and impulsively, and awkwardly goes for it.

And I'm not a Laura Kinney expert, so please feel free to correct me, folks who know better. But the gist I've gotten of Laura's story at this time is that she's (also) relatively isolated from most of her age group. And aside from maybe the guy she was in a romantic relationship with for a while, I don't get the sense that she's been offered much by way of physical comfort from someone her own age before. And it probably helps that he immediately backs off when she says "No."

And then, of course, there's that equally sweet moment later, when she ends up returning the favor:

I'm actually pretty glad these two never ended up dating during his time in the future. I think they're maybe a little too alike, with a bit too much by way of similar trauma and backstory to really make it work.

But they do make such wonderful friends, and I love how much they seem to understand each other.

They don't really have the same camaraderie that Scott and Kamala got once Scott aged back up again, which is a bit of a shame. But they did have a few good moments when they were both on the X-Men together in Krakoa.

It's just a lovely little friendship and I love it very much.

Ian chuckled, he had to give it to the kid, he had moxie. ❛ Envy? ❜ He repeated the word in disbelief. For starters Ian was old enough to be an actual avenger, not that he was interested in the slightest in being one, let alone a young avenger. ❛ Nomad isn't really a team player. I prefer to do my own thing. Team mates slow you down. ❜

He had worked a bit with Wilson, but that was different. For starters he enjoyed Wilson's company. Not that he'd ever admit it to the older man. ❛ Struck a nerve have I? ❜ he asked, titling his head.

❛ What I meant was, your mom's cool. We're friends. So obviously I'm going to have her kid's back. ❜ Begrudgingly but true.

Tommy widened his eyes and raised a finger, leaning forward slightly.

"Hey, you’re smelling that?" He sniffed a couple of times before turning his gaze to Ian. "Smells like envy to me—because someone wasn’t invited to join the Young Avengers."

He tried to keep a straight face, but it lasted only a fraction of a second. A sarcastic, teasing grin quickly took over.

Being part of the Young Avengers was a pretty big deal for tommy. It meant a lot to him. He loved that team. They were his family, so hearing the disdain in the other’s voice really got under his skin a bit. Crossing his arms, he let out a scoff, already growing tired of being there. He didn’t like to feel locked, after all.

"Oh, you like my mom? Tell me more about that."

you know what i'm thinking about? the promotion for venom 3. and how, in like silly videos where eddie and v are breaking into headquarters of the UFC or the recording studio, they all reference things that happen IN the movie, like the casino scene, which would imply that everything that happened at area 55 never happened! there, canonically, isn't any time for those things TO happen!! so they're still together!!!! on the run!!!!!!! on their way to new york!!!!!!!!!!

ɪᴀɴ  ʟᴇᴛ  ᴛʜᴇ  ʙʀᴇᴀᴛʜ  ʜᴇ  ʜᴀᴅ  ʙᴇᴇɴ  ʜᴏʟᴅɪɴɢ  ɢᴏ,  when  Kira  wrapped  her  arms  around  him.  A  part  of  him  had  been  convinced  she  wouldn't  be  able  to  forgive  him  for  what  felt  an  imaginable  betrayal.  A  part  of  him  wondered  if  he  deserved  to  be  forgiven.  He  knew  deep  down  it  was  the  right  thing  to  do,  but  having  spent  years  convinced  his  own  father  had  died.  He  knew  the  trauma  that  had  left  behind.  Honestly  if  he  never  saw  that  corner  of  the  world  again,  it  would  be  too  soon.

"  Sure,  "  he  said.  Questioning  why  a  sudden  wave  of  sadness  washed  over  him,  when  Kira  let  go.  He  should  his  head,  it  must  have  been  the  pent  up  nerves.  "  What  are  we  drinking?  "  He  questioned.  He  stood  awkwardly  by  the  front  door,  softly  shutting  it  closed.  

He'd  spent  a  lot  of  time  trying  to  put  what  happened  during  that  mission  to  the  back  of  his  mind.  He'd  gone  through  a  lot  while  trying  to  survive  dimension  z,  but  somehow,  what  him  and  Kira  went  through  seemed  worse.  He  couldn't  explain  why.  "  I'll  tell  you  what  -  I  don't  think  I'll  ever  forget  the  smell  of  damp  from  those  cells,  "  he  joked.  He  wasn't  sure  if  making  light  out  of  the  situation  was  the  way  to  go.  But  in  moments  like  these,  t͟r͟y͟i͟n͟g͟ ͟ ͟t͟o͟ ͟ ͟f͟i͟n͟d͟ ͟ ͟t͟h͟e͟ ͟ ͟b͟r͟i͟g͟h͟t͟e͟r͟ ͟ ͟s͟i͟d͟e͟ ͟ ͟a͟l͟w͟a͟y͟s͟ ͟ ͟h͟e͟l͟p͟e͟d͟ ͟ ͟h͟i͟m͟.  

"  I  know  you  want  to  kick  my  ass  right  now  or  worse.  But  let  me  explain.  It  was  either  I  fake  my  death,  or  only  one  of  us  walk  out  of  that  base  alive.  And  you  and  I  both  know  the  latter  was  never  going  to  be  an  option.  "  Even  if  she  didn't  forgive  him,  it  would  still  be  worth  it.  "  They  were  trying  to  turn  me  against  you.  Trying  to  convince  me  you'd  turned  against  me  because  of  Zola.  The  games  would  never  end,  so  I  ended  them,  "  He  explained  biting  his  lip,  as  h͟e͟ ͟t͟i͟t͟l͟e͟d͟ ͟h͟i͟s͟ ͟h͟e͟a͟d͟ ͟t͟o͟ ͟o͟n͟e͟ ͟s͟i͟d͟e͟.  

❝ oh just shut the fuck up, @nomanslannd ❞ kira replied quietly and pulled him into a hug. she wasn't good with emotions, that much was obvious. but she couldn't let go of him; not yet. he's back, and all of a sudden, it's as if the nightmare stopped. the debt she was paying for crawling out of the fire and collapsing, fading away, with the snow falling above her. the ash was once a hope. of getting away uscathed, with ian by her side. but hydra business is always dirty business, and kira knew now they never really had a chance.

❝ care for a drink? ❞ she questioned, her arms still tight around ian. the redhead looked up at him a faint smile lining the corners of her lips. finally letting go, kira wrapped her arm around his, as if she'd lose him again if she let go.

the only trick of friendship, she thought, is to find people who are better than you are --not smarter, not cooler, but kinder, and more generous, and more forgiving-- and then to appreciate them for what they can teach you, and to try to listen to them when they tell you something about yourself, no matter how bad --or good-- it might be, and to trust them, which is the hardest thing of all. but the best, as well; so, while he was gone, and after she let go of the grief --she never did, but at one point she became better at pretending she did-- she tried to be kind to everything she saw, and in everything she saw, she saw him.
