#60s Korean movie

Haha! I don't know anything but you gave me a new rabbit hole and quite a lot of work! Most 60s movie posters look like this though. It's crazy how much they packed onto the posters back then.
The Hangul part of the title (the text at the left in red) is "어디로 가시나이까" or "Where Are You Going?". The Hanja Part - I had to trace it in the search bar od Naver Hanja dictionary! Translates to "전하" or "Your Majesty", basically how one was supposed to address the King. So, we got the title : 어디로 가시나이까 전하" or "Where Are You Going, Your Majesty?"
A lot is in Hanja, like the actors names and the producers names etc, so I had to plop her into Papago and get it translated from Japanese/Chinese.
The part at the top gave me these results :
Basically the "advertisement", as the "Dong Yang Radio's most popular TV drama".
Im trying to find some cast and crew credits - once we have that, we can search for more info on the net.
Copying the ehite and yellow text on the rtop ight into hanja dictionary gave me "제작 : 김일수" , "Release : Kim Il Soo" and "기획 - 김속기, 안배관" "Production : Kim sok Gi, Ahn Bae Kwan"
the Blue text in the right gave me " : 이규웅", "... : Lee Gyu Woong". The Hanja in the beginning was picked up wrong because of the bad quality. But I can't find who this person is...
The text under the blue text om the right have me "원작 - 교본 - 임희재" "Orginal Work - Script - Lim Hee Jae" - which means that there is a separate book or other original piece that this drama was based on, by a writer named Lim Hee Jae.
Thats all I could find for the moment, so I went and searched it up. And I found so much more!
Its not a drama but a movie. Kinda expected given the poster.
It was released 1969.
The cast is fucking crazy for 1969 - Shin Sung Il, Kim Jin Gyu, Kim Ji Mi and Yoon Jung Hee. That's literally the top two actors with the top two actresses. This is one HELL of a star lineup, believe me.
I found a naver blog that talks about it :
What this blog says is :
The production cost around 1억 (100 Million) won at that time which is a CRAZY amount of money for 1969 and even crazier if adjusted to inflation. Like, we could have fed half the Korean population for a year with the costs of this movie.
The plot of the movie goes like this :
At the end of the Korean Empire, when the enlightenment groups centered on Kim Ok-gyun (Kim Seok-hoon) caused a Coup d'etat, Min Young-il (Namgung Won), the nephew of the Empress Myeongseong (Do Geum-bong), seeks help from the Qing Dynasty to defeat the enlightenment groups. Lee Jung-won (Shin Seong-il), who was Kim Ok-gyun's colleague, fled to Japan with the help of Wolhyang (Kim Ji-mi), a popular famed Gisaeng. While he went to Japan, Lee Jung-won's family, which was against the odds, was exterminated, and only his wife In-soon (Yoon Jung-hee) survived. In-soon is in crisis because she caught the sight of Min Young-il, who was once her husband's friend, but Min Young-il leaves In-soon, who had to hide her identity, to Wolhyang, who suggests Insoon starts living with her. After that, In-soon, who became a gisaeng too, lives with Wolhyang, and two women wait while adoring and missing the same Lee Jung-won, but each other do not know that the man is Lee Jung-won. After that, when Lee Jung-won returns from Japan, the film comes to a tragic end.
It mixes facts with fiction and is basically a fictional sageuk.
Soooo yeah! I think I found more than I thought I would. Here you go!
I feel like so much is going on on this poster.
@anemoiawithatouchofobsession, I feel like you might know this old korean drama? IDK

Kim Woo Bin was great in Officer Black Belt! I don’t really like most action films but anything with him is almost always good.
Also the surprise at the end!!!! I WAS NOT EXPECTING TO SEE PRESIDENT PARK MOO JIN FROM DESIGNATED SURVIVOR: 60 DAYS!
That basically implied he did go and run for president after his term ended😭 I need another season😭😭

Here’s a bunch of junk for you trans girls to watch
Update: there used to be a link to a mega folder here, but it got taken down.
///TGIRL FEATURE FILMS (alphabetical order)
Adam (2019) it's about a cis boy who's mistaken for a trans boy and rolls with it. Big cast of trans characters including a tgirl played by a tgirl who everyone wants to fuck. Directed by a trans dude. Highly legit. If you're still hung up on pre release speculation based on the novel then you're the most annoying person alive.
Assassination Nation (2018) The first half is Euphoria and the second half is The Purge. ONE OF THE BEST TGIRL MOVIES OF ALL TIME.
Bit (2019) Lesbian girl power vampire movie where the main character is a tgirl played by a tgirl. It's solid. I find it frustrating that they hint at her being trans without explicitly acknowledging it (and she's passing as fuck, so it's easy to not notice), but I know that's what some of y'all want.
Boy Meets Girl (2014) Cis dude for trans girl love story. Pretty normie, but also you see her fully naked (gock out) at the end.
Funeral Parade of Roses (1969) Extremely 60s. Cool as hell.
Lady Daddy (2010) South Korean romcom about a trans girl played by a cis girl who tries unconvincingly to back pass when she finds out she has a kid. Very cute.
Lingua Franca (2019) written directed and starring Isabel Sandoval. An undocumented trans woman immigrant in New York deals with a cis dude partner being a cis dude. Which is also the plot of The Garden Left Behind (2019).
Myra Breckinridge (1970) Raquel Welch is a trans woman and her goal is the destruction of the last vestigial traces of traditional manhood! It's Fight Club! It's Hackers! It's divisive, but it's probably my favorite movie!
So Pretty (2019) Literally the first scripted feature length (non pornographic tho it does have cock) film to feature two trans women played by trans women kissing eachother.
Something Must Break (2014) THE OTHER BEST TGIRL MOVIE OF ALL TIME. Drugs. Crimes. Gock. Slow motion pissing. Slow motion park Fucking. Genuinely the most beautiful sex scene I've seen in any movie. And she makes it to the end still alive and more sure of herself and at peace than ever.
Tangerine (2015) Groundbreaking and also a bunch of the secondary characters are real life pornstars (which I think is neat).
The Garden Left Behind (2019) This and Lingua Franca (2019) really are tgirl twin films, but (like with Antz and A Bug’s Life) the vibes and details make them distinct (I assume tho tbh I’ve never watched Antz).
///TGIRL DOCUMENTARIES
Bambi (2013) about a trans girl showgirl in 50s/60s paris
Paris is Burning (1990) basically it's Pose.
Shinjuku Boys (1995) Trans dudes working in a tokyo club that caters to tboy chasing cis girls. There's at least one trans girl in the mix too.
///FORCED FEMINIZATION
A Reflection of Fear (1972) They raised her as a girl and it made her do murders! It drags in places, but the girl in it is so ethereal and it has ageplay vibes and daddy issues.
Memory Run (1996) A very fun direct to video scifi action flick about fighting fascism by blowing up your pre transition self with a rocket launcher + it's based on a novel written by a trans woman.
She-Man A Story of Fixation (1967) Notable for being such a cliche sissy maid fantasy while also coming out so early + it was Bob Clark's first film lol.
Sleepaway Camp (1983) A more famous version of Reflection of Fear.
Surrender Dorothy (1998) A MUST WATCH. I personally bought a physical DVD and made an ISO of it for you because I was unsatisfied with the quality of the only copy that seemed to exist online. I ALSO PERSONALLY CREATED MY OWN SUBTITLES FOR IT BECAUSE EVEN THE DVD DIDN’T INCLUDE ANY! WHICH TOOK HOURS TO DO!
The Skin I Live In (2011) A rapist is kidnapped and turned into a girl by a mournful vengeful plastic surgeon. Which was also the plot of Victim (2010). I never really vibe with Pedro Almodóvar movies, but I recognize this is the preeminent forced feminization film.
///SHORT FILMS
Gender Troublemakers (1993) Some 90s Toronto trans girls fucking and discoursing. Explicit tgirl on tgirl action. This is the only one on the list that I haven’t actually watched yet. I’m hyped to watch it tho. Seems mindblowingly rad af.
Happy Birthday Marsha (2018) It's about Marsha P. Johnson.
I don't Know (1971) I'm obsessed with the trans girl in this one she just keeps popping up in all kinds of early 70s stuff. Directed by Penelope Spheeris (who is the sister of the cis gf in it).
Mesmeralda (2019) AN ABSOLUTE BANGER HOLY FUCK THE VIBES ARE OFF THE CHARTS! PLS WATCH THIS! I refuse to apologize for it being 15GB. It’s worth every byte.
Pat Rocco's Changes (1970) It's that same girl again!
Queens at Heart (1967) I can't get over that hairdresser girl thinking she's back passing. Most adorably weak boymode ever.
Shangri-La (2021) Another Isabel Sandoval joint.
The Yellow Wallpaper (2021) Freshly post op girl with a supportive boyfriend goes unhinged.
Undress Me (2012) Jana Bringlöv Ekspong did a few short films. Give janabringlove a google after watching this.
///JUST LIKE BTW
Some of these would be tough to find elsewhere, but most of the movies are also watchable on fmovies and/or can be torrented in higher quality.
After you've worked your way through the folder then just start doing Google searches for trans films. Look at IMDB keywords and letterboxd lists. There are so many more out there. These are just like my personal picks.

good books of 2024
according to meeee.
there is no order here, at least one of these was published ages ago, I'm just working my way through my 2024 timeline, godspeed spiderman. 🫡
Metal from Heaven
surprise hit of 2024. top of the charts. stunning, spectacular. gorgeous. Metal from Heaven FUCKS. almost every single main character is an explicit spicy toxic hot mess of a lesbian committing literal highway/train robbery, the bad guy is literally named Industry, leading to such peak sentences as "I am going to kill Industry." the prose is synesthetic in a way that most writers cannot sustain for a full novel but which here culminates in a moment of pure blissful Neon Genesis Evangelion that I will not elaborate on due to spoilers. the author pulls out the FUNNIEST lines, and also the most abrupt and heartbreaking tragedies. we're not here to be subtle, we're here to put the pedal to the metal until the engine explodes. such a damning, whip smart condemnation of industry, capitalism, power. all in the form of Lesbians. also the phrase 'clown orgy' is mentioned. this shit is like gideon the ninth with CRUNCH. NSFW.
but don't take my word for it. take amal el-mohtar's.
Absolution
Absolution is a hard book. requires thought and rigor at all times to absorb what's going on - and also a reread of the entire trilogy beforehand, because there's time travel nuance involved, which makes it next to impossible to sum up the plot coherently on its own without spoiling things. jeff vandermeer described it partially as 'fuck that alligator from the movie' and - valid. the first 60% had me; the later section...swapped gears drastically, which meant it took a while to hit its stride (aka until it reached Area X again). in hindsight I was just not prepared for one of the POVs to be the Freudian, violently stoned, unreliable narrator love-child of Karkat and Dave Strider whose perception/conception of the heart of the Southern Reach is extremely phallic. and then suddenly cannibalism happens. I liked Annihilation and Acceptance better, but damn. it almost feels like this should be the set up to another trilogy. much 2 think about.
Yield Under Great Persuasion
I don't know why I didn't hear anything about this one before it came out! (instead, I only saw posts about rowland's other book released this year, running close to the wind - which sadly did not hit for me at all). Yield Under Great Persuasion is just ridiculous enough to be fantastic. stubborn little gremlin man, big mad about Pumpkingate years after the original inciting incident that set him at odds with his love interest, attempts to pack his little rucksack and run away from all his self-inflicted gay problems, fails, is forced to deal with said personal problems by direct goddess-intervention. you know it's gonna be good when the guys are hate-banging by page 2. a short, delightful mix of (extremely silly and low-stakes) enemies to lovers and hurt/comfort and working out your emotional and communication issues on page style comfort food. self-indulgent in a fanfic way that is rowland's trademark in a taste of gold and iron (which was also fantastic and probably deserves a reread now.) NSFW.
The Spellshop
between this and yield under great persuasion there's an odd cozy fantasy pairing here. a self-isolated shut-in spellbook librarian who lives for her work escapes the fall of her city and sets up shop back in her old hometown on a severely magic-deprived island. there's some internalized trauma being worked through, against a simply charming backdrop of community and solidarity and magic spells. really. I was. charmed. which is a rare reaction on my part.
The Hunter's Gonna Lay Low
the curveball of the list, The Hunter's Gonna Lay Low is a translated (gay) Korean web novel, and it's the perfect intersection of a decent translator meeting an author who knows what they're doing. notorious tumblr user @spockandawe has a write up of the plot and its major themes here, but in essence it hooked me with its hunter/super-hero meets Pacific Rim setting, its themes of gifted kid burnout and unacknowledged trauma with the weight of the world on his shoulders, and the fact that the author clearly plotted out all of this in advance, with minor details from the opening chapter being extremely plot relevant a hundred chapters later. also, the characters are FUN! the relationship compels me. clownery abounds in all the best ways, while the world-ending stakes are also scarily sky high. its translation is currently incomplete as far as I'm aware, which is literally this story's only downside right now, since you can read it online for free - but so much of the main story is up and translated already that it's hard to imagine how much higher the stakes can go, and I'm dying to know if these two make it through and get the happy ending they deserve. a delicious repast.
Apostles of Mercy
I'm gonna rant here. this is the story of a series that got the redemption arc it deserved.
if you don't know, axiom's end is lindsay ellis's blatant Bayverse Transformers female lead alternate history fic. period. she has openly admitted this. you can easily and clearly pick out the Optimus/Megatron/Starscream expies. and that first book was GOOD. it understood the assignment. loved it.
then...truth of the divine happened. book two of the series. was frankly. god awful. it was like twilight's new moon, where the main character's depression saturates and therefore stagnates the entire narrative, in this case to its detriment. it dragged. the entire appeal of first book of the series is the bond between the main character and her new definitely-not-a-Transformer life partner, and book two managed to both sideline that - the entire point!!! the main thing you're reading it for! the alien time! - and introduce the most skeevy and (for me) unpleasant to read human hetero romance of all time. it was so unpleasant I actually forgot how bad it was.
somehow. somehow. palpatine returned. after I spent three years mourning what could have been. book three saved it. Apostles of Mercy addresses the whole damn skeevy toxic mess that was book two and refocuses on what matters - the alien love interest and a LESBIAN love interest. yes. it's true. once again the sapphics won. we now have a book where the main character is reliving lesbian sex memories as an alien-robot-insect-definitely-not-a-Transformer mindmelds with her so I mean. good job team? her love interest also acquires an alien life partner of her own to expand this into potential alien foursome range? the assignment is once again UNDERSTOOD. in terms of the action scenes, to quote myself while reading it, "I can't believe I'm saying this but you needed to channel far more Bayverse" [for book 2], and doing so for book 3 has produced a work of art. I would say skip book 2 entirely and thank me later, but experiencing how bad the series got at its darkest point is part of what made book 3 such an exhilarating high in comparison. possibly that was the goal all along, impossible to appreciate until now. I just need lindsay ellis to get the contract to write the currently-in-publication-limbo books 4 and 5. because the series deserves it. it only just got good again! NSFWish because I can't remember currently how explicit they got all these months later, forgive me.
The Deep Sky
yume kitasei is new to me, but this book hit some interesting notes as a sci fi debut. it too is about gifted kid burnout and imposter syndrome, funnily enough, in a thoughtful take on the standard sci fi concept of 'a bunch of rigorously trained young adults are sent out into deep space as an ark to save a dying humanity' that actually does discuss how fucked up that is as a concept, both for the kids as they grow up under enormous pressure to win a spot on the mission and for all those people being left behind, in what might just end up being an overhyped waste of resources, since civilization sure is still kicking when they leave. the summary on the book is somewhat misleading - asuka, the main character, doesn't fall under suspicion until wayyyy late in the book, and spends the majority of it in a pseudo-detective role that is absolutely sanctioned by those in charge. she's not 'an immediate suspect' like the book blurb insists. go figure. it didn't knock me out of the park like most of the books above, but it was an engaging little read.
The Bees
a weird one from 2014, picked up on a whim - it's literally about bees! fictionalized bees! with personalities and priesthoods and caste politics and everything! I cried about it to be honest. very plotty, somehow all of it neatly taking place within the Lifecycle of A Bee™️, which takes some real craftsmanship to pull off and make compelling as a narrative. since I'm an unrepentant Raksura fan, I was like 'wow...how Raksura coded...' knowing full well that Raksura are dragon bee people, not the other way around. also the Raksura could never be as toxic (complimentary) as these bees are. 😂 it's just good literature your honor.
honorable mentions:
Heavenly Tyrant
has not come out yet. but let's be real. it's on the list in anticipation. it's what she deserves.
The City in Glass
I love nghi vo's work, have read and adored all of the singing hills cycle novellas. it took a month for my library hold on this book to be available. and then I promptly got distracted by metal from heaven and the hunter's gonna lay low 😂 I will read it!!! the first eight pages were good! vitrine's voice is very good! I've just had a very busy end of the year interrupting my everything. (update: I read two more pages and it immediately and promptly popped off. whoops. guess I'm reading that next. whenever I have free time again...)
#book recommendations#the hunter's gonna lay low truly gives off madoka vibes at times (complimentary)#i need more people to buy apostles of mercy in the dim hope it will continue lmao#long post

Terry Jones Vs. Alan Alda
Propaganda
Terry Jones - (Monty Python's Flying Circus, Do Not Adjust Your Set) - I wish I could tell you all in a few sentences just how handsome, funny, intelligent, kind and soft-spoken Terry Jones was. How passionate he was about the things he loved, lacing his interests (like e.g. history) throughout all the projects he was working on. How he was supposedly always laughing and giggling when writing and reading out sketches. How he admired the art of silent movies/Buster Keaton and was obsessed with writing poems as a child. How he was described as a wonderful friend and a little as if he carried his own world around with him. But there is simply too much to tell and I adore him too much to pick the best facts, so this will have to do
Alan Alda - (M*A*S*H) - He is both the saddest wettest little meow meow and your kindly grandfather and your favourite eccentric uncle (mom's side). Somehow it works. Passionate Democrat, feminist, great writer, he and his books are hilarious. Did a cartwheel when he won an Emmy! How he met his wife is the best meet cute of the last two centuries, and they've now been married over 60 years!!!
Master Poll List | How to submit propaganda | What is vintage? (FAQ)
Additional propaganda below the cut
Alan Alda:
he’s just so good in MASH
youtube
he put so much bisexuality into hawkeye i think it fundamentally changed me when i was little and watching mash for the first time. anyway do we all know the story about how he met his wife when they were at a party together and they were the only two people eating the cake that fell on the floor and he fell in love with her over her laugh. i just think hes neat :) i love when theres a strange looking man. also feel it necessary to say that the guy that wrote the book mash was based on wrote himself as hawkeye and HATED alda's hawkeye bc he displayed his morals too much (alda had it in his contract for the show that every episode had to have an operating room scene bc otherwise you arent backdropping the fact that war is Not fun. actually. he almost didnt take the role bc he thought a war comedy would make too much light of the horrors)
please please please use this picture of him, he's so hot in it
His comedic delivery in MASH...
youtube
The story of how he met his wife is charming and sweet, and they've now been married 65 years
Just look at him. He's the most beautiful man I've ever seen but also he's completely average. He's got a weak jawlines and a round face and these big soft eyes and he's just so beautiful. He's capable of playing a silly charismatic sitcom protagonist in one scene, and a jaded army surgeon haunted by the deaths he's witnessed in the next. He's so hot that my dad once told me he decided to apply to medical school because of how much he was attracted to Hawkeye Pierce. That's literally how I learned that my father was bisexual.
He's also just a really great dude? He's been outspoken about his political beliefs for a long time, and has always been strongly and vocally anti-war, pro-feminist, and pro lgbt. He served a tour in the Korean war, and his experiences there informed his performance in the show. He (and honestly the entire cast, but especially him) really just soared above and beyond the standard for comedies of the day.
youtube
He's so funny and his eyes are pretty
He loves and is a champion of science (Source).

15 Days BL Challenge the Quadriquel
LAST DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This has been so much fun! Thanks again for this 4th installment @pinkkop
60. Favorite lesser known BL
Gameboys the Series. I'm going to keep talking about the series until more people watch it. Gameboys follows online gamer Cai during the COVID lockdown. He's at odds with his family and his dad is sick with COVID in the hospital. He finds online companionship with an eager fan of his named Gav. The first season of the series is almost completely shot in videocall style as Cai and Gav get to know each other and learn to trust and depend on each other. We meet a couple more friends (and enemies) along the way as everyone tries to adjust to life during the pandemic. There are 2 seasons and a movie but the movie and s2 follow the same storylines. WATCH IT!
Tinted With You. K-POP group A.C.E's leader Park Junhee stars in this short Korean BL. Junhee plays a student named Eunho who is a graduating High School senior. Eunho gets sucked into an ancient era painting where he meets an exiled Prince named Lee Heon and his grumpy but loyal bodyguard, Guem. The series follows the trio as Lee Heon tries to help Eunho return to his right time and Eunho tries to help Guem save Lee Heon's life. The series technically has Eunho and Prince Heon paired up but Guem and Heon definitely have chemistry and Eunho and Guem have chemistry. Honestly they feel more like a poly ship rather than a love triangle which is a treat tbh. I enjoyed it and was mildly obsessed with the series.
Ghost Host Ghost House. I will talk about this series forever. Paranormal vlogger Kevin travels to Thailand to visit with his mother's side of the family (His aunt, uncle, and younger twin cousins). When he gets there they are acting a bit peculiar but still happy to see him. He also meets the family friend Pluem who is immediately interested in Kevin. The series follows Kevin as he discovers there have been some recent deaths in his family and also as he gets to know Pluem who is also dealing with the death of his father (and his sister is ill). Not only do we get ghosts and paranormal happenings, but we get a few love stories, and also we get to see how these characters deal with death, grief, and regret. Get tissues...you will cry.
The New Employee. Late 20-something-year-old Seung Hyun lands an internship at a famous ad agency where he is working under the very strict but successful director Jong Chan. Jong Chan is very serious about his work and he pushes Seung Hyun to question whether he wants to be there or not and gives him the space and opportunity to learn and grown. Jong Chan also wastes no time in letting Seung Hyun know that he is interested in dating him. The series follows Seng Hyun as he navigates his new work load, advancing his career, meeting old crushes, and dating his new boss all at the same time.

Day 60 - 15 Days BL Challenge (part 4)
This is it! Day 60! And the final day of my fourth part of the 15 Days BL Challenge. I've had a blast and I'll definitely keep interacting with the tag even if I finished doing the prompts.
Day 60 - Favourite lesser known BL
Number in the parentheses is the number of times I've mentioned each show in a prompt of the 15 Days BL Challenge which doesn't tell you much but it does show you have much space some of these shows take up in my brain.
180 Degree Longitude Passes Through Us (0)
This is where my love and respect for Pond started. This show is an odd one because it's much more about interpersonal relationships and as such is like the opposite of an action series with little movement and only a few locations.
It works, however, really well for the show and the production quality and acting is great. It's an interesting character study and a must watch if you ask me.
Tokyo in April is... (2)
This show has my favourite type of pairing of hurt character with walls sky high gets loved with a side of childhood best friends and mutual pining.
I just love watching them piece together what actually happened in their shared past and heal while doing so.
It's one of my favourite Japanese BLs and more people should get to witness its beuaty.
Love Class 2 (1)
I love this BL so much that I even made a post about why more people should watch this!
It's a Korean BL with a good mixed bag of pairings and plot lines which makes for a good well rounded show with bucked loads of chemistry and pining.
And you can just skip the first season and go directly to season 2!
History3: Make Our Days Count (8)
Don't know if this could be called a lesser known because I think a lot of people know this exists but so many people seem afraid of actually watching it because of the ending which is a pity because it is such a good show! I promise one day I'll get around to writing a post about why it's so good.
This show is by far my most returned to show of all the BLs I've watched and I think the fact that I've mentioned it in 8 different prompts for this challenge says a lot about how much I love it!
It's sweet and spicy and wholesome and heartwarming and funny and healing. It both has moments of being silly and moments of seriousness in a good balance. It has some of my favourite characters and relationships and it just fills me with happiness.
Don't Say No (4)
This is another show I've returned to a lot and I think I've figured out why. Even if most of the plot points during this show are wild, I really like the basis for this show: childhood best friends who get together after a long struggle, but then they have to figure out how to be boyfriends with all their baggage and assumptions, both of their own but also of the people around them.
It's a battle between what they want, what they think the other person wants and what they think they should want. It's just so good!
Also I absolutely love a Uke that's more sexually experienced than the Seme. No Blushing Maiden Ukes in this show!!
Honorable mention to She Makes My Heart Flutter (1) as a lesser known GL. It's only 66 min. long and the movie version is free on youtube here.
The original challenge is here, part two here, part three here, and four here.

I need to add, I find it so sad that Choi Eun Hee's persona and legacy is reduced to just this part of her life - the kidnapping. Not a slight to OP, but in general, I hate how she is just named as "the actress". Call her by her name - Choi Eun Hee.
People forget she was THE actress of the 60s and the late 50s, she did all sorts of roles in all sorts of movies, was literally top bill. She played women of every walk of life, she was Shin Sang Ok's muse, she made him famous and not the other way round. She's lived a crazy life before this kidnapping and after it too.
The only other actress that probably could match up to her popularity was probably Kim Ji Mi? and she was THE it-girl of the 50s.
I wish I had some screenshots - but some movies of hers that I love are:
youtube
Mother And The Guest : as the mother (you have to wath it on YouTube! but it's SUCH a damn good movie)
youtube
A Happy Day in Maeng Jin Sa's house - as maid Ip-Bun (1962)
There's obviously more, but if I had to pick two there are the ones I would pick.
The Lovers and the Despot
A documentary of one of the most (to me), famous kidnappings of one of the most famous femake Korean actress and famous male filmmaker of their time in the 70s-80s (that I know).

These two actors will be playing the main characters in the hell is other people adaptation that is being produced in Japan right now! Release date is set for november 15 this year.
As far as I know, they will be adapting the webtoon and not remake the korean drama. I expect a lot of changes to be made, especially since the character on the right is reminding me more of the webtoon version of moonjo, aka yeongsam/영삼 (he even resembles Ki-Hyuk, who resembled Yeongsam a lot too)
the webtoon antagonist looks like this by the way:
As for the actors, here is what I could find:
- Jongwoo is renamed "Yuu" and is played by Hachimura Rintaro (funny enough, the guy is also part of a boy group/an Idol. Just like Yim Siwan). His only acting roles so far are this movie, another movie and a series.
- Moonjo/Yeongsam is renamed "Kirishima" and is played by Yanagi Shuntaro. He has played in quite a lot of movies, including horror and thriller works.
- Ji-eun (girlfriend of Jongwoo) is renamed "Megumi" and is played by Okada Yui (google translate gave me the name "Yumi" name which tells you it's not really accurate...). She has played in quite a lot of movies and series, including horror and thriller works.
- I'm pretty sure "Yamaguchi" who is described as yakuza-like man is Hee-Joong, the guy that "moves out" early.
- "Maru" and "Goru" are probably the twins.
- the only name left is "Yoshiko" which might be the owner of Eden or in this case, "Hakubone"
Here are all the co-star actors names I found:
Kento Miura
Sayaka Aoki
Takato Okura
Masato Hagiwara
Takeru Suzuki
Kousuke Hoshi
Takayuki Hamatsu
Mikoto Hibi
Yohei Matsukado
Eden seems to be renamed "Hakubone" which means boat or ark (Ark was also the name google translate gave me, it's probably referencing Noah's Ark).
As for the director, their name seems to be Kodama Kazuto, I looked through their works and they directed over 60 horror movies since 2005, I have yet to see any of their works but I will check them out, i'm really curious how the quality of them is.
here are the sources I used:
english: x
japanese: x (if you translate this, there is some extra comments made by the actors included at the end of the article)
also, an asianwiki page was made for the movie: x

Have you noticed how unfair the existence of Cale Henituse and Choi Han is in Earth 1?
And no, I am not talking about how Cale knew what was going to happen or how they both have the main character syndrome.
Summarizing: They are Disney actors in a world of nosy auts!
Did I just got out of shower? Yes.
Should I go eat, because it's one in the morning and I have class at 8 A.M.? Also yes.
Is this my first post to this fandom, that I haven't interacted with in a year? Yup.
BUT THIS IS IMPORTANT.
Like, think about it.
Also, I'm focusing more on Cale, but Choi Han also fits.
I don't know how it is now, but to Millennials and Gen Z, we grew up watching Disney movies and, most of them, like High School Musical, showed lies, like that High School was fun.
But the point I want to say is regarding the visual. We grew up, watching how people were supposed to be in High school, having a pattern to follow. Disregarding the fact that the actors were in their twenties!
That caused a bunch of self esteem issues, because the ideal model was someone who already went through puberty, not one that is going through it. And the comparison was the worst, because it wasn't a realistic pattern to follow.
That made me think about how the world perceives the two. I haven't read the second part yet and haven't touched anything related in almost a year, but, if I am not mistaken, Cale ends that part with 20 years and Choi Han with the appearance of 18.
BUT we all know that they are way older than that. Cale was in his thirties and Choi Han between 60's and 150's (yes, I saw both options and I don't remember which was true).
The fact that everyone at first looks down on Cale is not only because of his physic. It's because he is technically a teenager! (Regarding the Korean age, they become adults at 20. Ps: I heard it had a change, so I don't know how it is now, but this novel was written before that). That is probably why the kids also tend to hear Cale. We always hear the older cooler kids and not the adults.
And then we have two teenagers fighting a war. Multiple wars. And they won. Because, in reality, they are mostly functional adults. They had time to learn, they had experience. But to everyone, they are only geniuses. Not that they aren't, but it is more like "the trash became responsible overnight and is taking strategies from the air."
And then we consider that Cale is also a nobleman. And you know what nobles do? Always want to be the best, always comparing to others. Imagine the pressure of growing in a family like this, in a society like this. And I can say I have an idea, I'm Latina and half my family is Asian. We always have that nosy aunt that compares us to anyone that is better. Sometimes the aunt is your own mother, but there is always someone.
But get the perspective. All the next generation will have Cale and Choi Han as the ideal model. In a society that comparison and nitpicking everything is the tradition. And it will be hell for them. Because there is no way that a "new Cale" or a "new Choi Han" can be born. They are the product of a bunch of factors. So, they will be searching for the impossible.
Hence, the existence of Cale and Choi Han is unfair the same way that Disney placing adults playing teenagers is unfair to the kids watching them.
