Song Review: Bachman-Turner Overdrive - “60 Years Ago”

Recording under the Bachman-Turner Overdrive banner with AI-enhanced vocals from Fred Turner and a short Neil Young solo tacked on to the end, Randy Bachman overhauled “Takin’ Care of Business” and called it “60 Years Ago.”

Namechcking himself, Burton Cummings, the Guess Who, BTO, Young’s Buffalo Springfield and other Canadian musicians and landmarks, Bachman is even less imaginative on the chorus:

Sixty years ago/summers were hot, those winters were cold/60 years ago/so good, it never got old, goes one pass.

Add low-fidelity sound and “60 Years Ago” is a sad addendum to BTO’s songbook.

You mean that back in 1965 launches could achieve LEO, carry more cargo than only a 🍌, not crash in the Indian Ocean (see photo), and carry a human crew!??

SpaceX Starship (6 launches) is laughably not even close to human rated, is less reusable than the crappy plastic bags you get from the supermarket, and like those bags has a maximum cargo carrying capacity of (1) one banana (tbh the plastic bag holds more).

SpaceX Starship has not achieved Low Earth Orbit.

Reflecting On A Moment 60 Years Ago

I walk into the kitchen for another cupp’a coffee, put the mug under the spout, turn on the pot, and while I wait, I rinse a few dishes, put them in the dishwasher, then go back to my chair in the living room.  Reach for my coffee … oops!  Left it in the kitchen … I knew there was some reason I had gone into the kitchen!  So, I return to the kitchen, notice that the cats’ water dish is near…

trying a very different approach to color ala tim mcburnie style and it's making me melt. figured i'd share it bc Idk it's more complicated but I like the way it's making me think/plan

thumbnail and rough sketch that i liked so much i turned it into....

and then made several color thumbnails/messed around w them for awhile

until finally settled on this one

and then

so the current foliage lines look like this and they're on 11 different layers (i'll merge some to be back, mid and forground in a bit)

(i also started on solas' head just ignore it for now)

and next step is really spend more time on the construction layer for lavellan and the wolf statue (solas is ready to be lined bc i drew him first)

then color with flats using quick masks instead of by hand like i'm used to c:

this is all wayyyy more layers than i'm used to but I do kind of like it so far; particularly the color thumbnail and construction layer/phase part
