The Pete Show.
For the my rewatch of The Pete Show (sometimes and more uncommonly known as KinnPorsche The Series La Forte), I will be noting down time stamps in which the main character Pete (from the Pete Show) makes an appearance. I will also, as a little bonus, add appearances of his romantic interest “Vegas”. Today:
Episode 2
After the out-of-focus background Pete of the first episode, minute 6 of the second introduces to in-full-focus backside Pete. Peachy!
Tumblr media
And while I usually only add one visual representation per timestamp, there is one moment in this one that deserves to be singled out. It occurs at 6:46, where we're getting out first title drop of The Pete Show!
Tumblr media
It sure is, buddy!
He next appears at the 18:00 mark for another whopping 20 seconds! We see him next to a pool (Pete-Trivia! This won't be his last fun pool-moment)! Here, we are dealing with the rare swimsuit-edition Pete. He comes in two different versions and this is the fully clothed one
Tumblr media
After a brief intermission of unimportant Pete-less moments he returns at minute 19:42, which he lights up with his dazzling Pete Smile™ (Not to be confused with the feral Pete Smile™, which will be displayed about 9 episodes later)
Tumblr media
Minute 25 sees the return of a fan-favourite: blurry background Pete! But this one is a special boy indeed - look at that piece of bread he's clutching in his paw! Delightful!
Tumblr media
At 27:24, we meet exposition Pete slash gossip Pete! He makes sure we're all caught up on the goings-on in the family while being a little judgy-judgy about it. Deserved!
Tumblr media
At 40:14, we encounter bodyguard Pete. He's doing his job! His job is...guard. He's quite good at it, standing there all prim and proper and giving some more exposition, such as introducing his boyfriend to the audience:
Tumblr media
At 45:38 appears another all time favourite of Pete enthusiasts out there: smoking Pete. Literally and figuratively smoking hot. Nothing more to be said, just look at him!
Tumblr media
At 48:44 we have underappreciated Pete. I hope he goes to the bodyguard union and files a complaint.
Tumblr media
Love-Interest appreance counter
At 50:46, Vegas is having a talk with his dad. Mildly exciting.
But!
A fun fact for everyone who made it his far! At minute 38:50 we get introduced to dear Vegas for the first time! And who does he appear as? That's right: blurry foreground Vegas! Him and Pete have so much in common <3

15 Questions
Tagged by @italianpersonwithashippersheart and @pandasmagorica
1. are you named after anyone?
Yes. First name is after my cousin's imaginary friend because my parents were wild. Middle name is after the song I was conceived to because my parents were really wild.
2. when was the last time you cried?
Externally? I joke that I haven't cried since 2009, but I really think that is the last time I cried. Internally? Every single fucking day.
3. do you have kids?
Oh, Lord, no.
4. what sports do you play/have you played?
Basketball, volleyball (horrible at it), fast-pitch softball, but I love watching all live sports.
5. do you use sarcasm?
Strange story, but many educators have to get "empathy training" because we do not understand declarations of self-harm to be serious. We think they are sarcastic comments. I think as an aging millennial, sarcasm is all we have, so we do not recognize when someone else is being serious. So . . . yes, I use sarcasm.
6. what’s the first thing you notice about people?
Vibes. I travel alone, so if the vibe ain't right, I'm out.
7. what’s your eye color?
Very dark brown
8. scary movies or happy endings?
Happy Endings. Both kind. *wink*
9. any talents?
Navigation and directions. Stick me anywhere, and I will find my way to where I need to go. Metro, bus, interstate, walking. Doesn't matter. I will figure it out. Also driving. I can drive loooong distances and any vehicle is my friend, which is why I got a ticket on the autobahn because I was just vibin' in the Audi at 150 km.
10. where were you born?
Japan
11. what are your hobbies
Traveling, especially for live music. I've seen hundreds of artists individually and have been to almost fifty music festivals. Some of my favorites are Austin City Limits (Austin), Electric Daisy Carnival (Las Vegas), Lollapalooza (Chicago), Country Music Awards Fest (Nashville), Osheaga (Montreal), Ultra (Miami), Primavera (Barcelona), Mad Cool (Madrid), and Pa'l Norte (Monterrey, México). Some of my favorite venues are Meow Wolf (Santa Fe), Red Rocks (Denver), and Fenway Park (Boston), and I had a ticket to see a concert at the Palace of Versailles in France for May 2020, then everything went to hell in a hand basket. But strangely, I saw Bad Bunny, Big Freedia, and French DJ Gesaffelstein in 2020.
I could talk for hours about music, but I'll stop with this picture (not mine because none I took came out good) of Gesaffelstein who dresses like this for his shows with an all black background and all black equipment. Ah-maze-zing.
Tumblr media
12. do you have any pets?
Oh, God, no. I'm a Disney villain. I don't mess with animals. Or plants.
13. how tall are you?
5'9" (This is a good country song too)
14. favorite subject in school?
Languages & Literature, which is why I teach English now.
15. dream job
What I'm doing now. Teaching. Except I would like to grade less than ~150 essays every month, but education is a mess right now, so y'all be nice to your professors.

Drawtectives: Orc Lore... 2!!!!
My first Drawtectives orc lore post that I made 2 years got over 600 notes, and I always intended to compile one for the second season. I just needed to rewatch all of it first! This one includes more general information about the Drawtectives world than the first did, cause it’s really fun.
Part 1
Episode 1:
- York has become a male model! Good job, king
- Extra world lore: Boogle, Bamerica (where engineers drive the train)
Episode 2:
- Common knowledge in the orc tribes is that the one thing you can’t fight is death - it gets you in the end
- “There’s always time for the east” - a classic Northern tribes quote
- Extra world lore: Pollywood, gredit cards, Zac Giraffe, Belp, Bi-Fi, Halloween is canon!
Episode 3:
- No one has ever reported back after confronting a wild train
- Reconfirmed: the roughly cuboid shape of wild cats, including tigers which have a Garfield-like appearance
- One of the only comics in the Northern tribe was Cashews by Barles Pört, featuring Sneppy
- Things York can write: eat my butt, wow now thatsa potata, Sneppy
- York doesn’t talk about his #1 and #2 weirdest days: “too weird”
- York is “a very social creature” according to Rose; all he needs are friends and food
Episode 4:
- Confirmed for the third time: York is a math guy
- York is big enough that he has a high drink tolerance
Episode 5:
- The “Ren Faire Las Vegas” is a story in the Northern tribe told to children, about a magical place with heroes and knights and glitter; York hoped to see it someday
       - Which included the hero “Belvis Breseley” and his many disciples
       - Interestingly, the Benaissance appears to possibly be etymologically linked to this “Ren Faire”, when the famous turtle painter Michaelango lived
- A classic game from the Northern tribes called “Lift It”: where you have a heavy object and see if you can lift it
Episode 6:
- It takes York a few seconds to transform between “Fight Mode” and “Show Mode”
- More Cashews lore: the lead character is Barley Brown
- Another newspaper comic: Beefcliff, which is apparently spelled differently in other locations
- BC also exists: unclear if this is our world’s or simply a coincidence
- Wild trains enjoy bones: new, old, yours, doesn’t matter to the train
- It’s speculated that trains evolved from wild bikes, with some diverging evolutionary lines including trucks
- Wild trains have feline ears and tails; if the ears are in the alert position, the train has now targeted you
- “Life is a railroad, and I’m going to ride it ‘till my stop”: a line from the hit group Bascal Blatts
- An interesting thing to note: synthetic trains are built in the image of wild trains
- York lost 17 of his cousins to wild train attacks; so York has approximately 35 cousins according to him (and I trust his math)
- Wild trains have a “burning inferno” as well as a mouth-eye, and the tail can be used somewhat like a blade
- Stripes on the side of the wild train help it blend in with tallgrass environments
- Horse Pope: holy figure? Into gambling? Oversees soups?
- York: sometimes known as “The Terror of the Northern Tribes”
- York has a net worth of about 6 million bones in his bank, although it’s unclear what the exchange rate is to Bamerican dollars
Episode 7:
- Bibby Joey: creator of the famous song “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant”
- BUNO!
- Eugino, a popular card game (Eugene-Oh?)
- I’m not writing down the rest of those board game puns
- The only game played in the Northern Tribes was “rock hit”, where you threw rocks at another rock in the air and see which rock survived; perhaps Lift It was more of a personal challenge
- There are no tables in the Northern Tribes
- Eugene’s favorite karaoke song is “I Need A Villain” by Donnie Byler, featured in Grek 2
Episode 8:
- York is the smart one, according to Rose: “he thinks the loudest”
- He’s also bad with faces and voices according to Rose; reconfirmed from S1E5
- I just really like that he was 100% convinced that Alm and All were different people
- Phone-bone, apparently
Episode 9:
- I enjoy the two-part confirmation that Northern Tribes orcs have southern accents
- “Joe Beans” is not a traditional orcish name
- Not everyone knows that the Northern Tribes have a monarchy
- “Orcish size” drinks are in a bucket, evidently they are literally sand buckets
- Jancy came to York’s first modeling show :,)
- York once tried to arm-wrestle a snake
- Wonderful film by Studio Jiggly: Ghosted Over There
Episode 10:
- No lore just solving the case!!
Episode 11:
- York’s favorite action hero is Ben Ception, who enters people’s dreams
- List of the months: Febicember, Smarch, Mapril, Junary, and Bachtober
- York’s powerful… stream gives him time to get his arms warmed up for a fight
- Another social media app; Binstagram
- “Lofty goals do lead to existential horrors” - daily quote by Rose

Title: An All Time High
Fandom: 911
Pairing: Buddie
Fic summary:
After being struck by lightning on the job, Evan ‘Buck’ Buckley takes his newly acquired math skills to Vegas for the weekend.  He’s also in search of the meaning of why he survived given that all his lovers leave him sooner or later and his found family is all happily settled down but he isn’t.
He’s not running away to Vegas, but it might look that way from the outside.
Las Vegas, Nevada is where Eddie Diaz has been spinning his wheels for the last few years after his discharge from the Army.  He’s finally in a bit of a good spot emotionally but is starting to feel at loose ends as his son starts wanting more independence.
A different first meeting under alternative circumstances.
Tags/warnings: AU, alternative first meeting, set after lightning strike in season 6, buck’s math powers in vegas (because what could go wrong, right?), casinomogul!Eddie, first time, eddie takes care of buck, buck doesn’t tell eddie he goes by buck because he may be running away from his life in LA
Tumblr media
“Yes,” Evan says, licking his lips and swaying closer.  “Where to?”
“Not far,” Eddie assures him, reluctantly stepping back but capturing Evan’s hand to lead him. “This way.”
Evan gives him an amused look when he leads him to the VIP elevator. “You live in your casino?”
“Makes for a short commute,” Eddie admits.  It also means that if needed he’s available for emergencies and has a list of people who can watch Christopher for short times if need be but Evan doesn’t need to know that.
The elevator is private, going only to three suites of which Eddie’s and Christopher’s apartment is the smallest. Waving his key card against the card reader, the elevator smoothly takes off while he presses Evan into the upholstered wall.  He’s waited patiently to see what Evan’s lips taste like and he’s not going to wait any longer now that they’re not in public.
Evan’s lips are soft for a man and they part eagerly with a small moan, his height turning Eddie on as he doesn’t have to lean down to capture them.  The first touch is hesitant, a tasting, then again more confident as they figure out how to slot into one another.  It’s wet and heated in the best of ways, exploring one another.
Then Evan slips his tongue into Eddie’s mouth and he can’t help but retaliate.  His fingers slip south, exploring the smooth cloth of the suit to feel the muscles underneath and tug the shirt tails loose so he can find the hot skin underneath. Evan has defined abs that he can’t wait to trace with his tongue and Eddie’s thumbs fit nicely into the groove of a hip, fingers wrapping around both flanks.
For such a big man, Evan has a tiny, nipped in waist. There’s a growing bulge stretching the fine weave of fabric over the fly that is almost obscene and Eddie wants to nibble at it until Evan is desperate then slowly pull the zipper down to reveal the prize hidden underneath.  Distracted by thoughts of sucking Evan and the noises he’d make while their tongues map each other’s mouths, Eddie’s hands discover more fodder for later as Evan’s belt gives way. A pair of firm, round ass cheeks being enough to grasp in his palm and squeeze makes Evan buck against him, breaking the kiss to give a desperate whine.
They haven’t even made it out of the elevator yet and Eddie is seconds away from going to his knees and blowing Evan when he remembers what he promised.  It takes every ounce of restraint he has to move his hands back to Evan’s waist and release the handful he’d had.
The list of things he wants to do to Evan is growing.
Tinkling chimes announce that they’ve reached their destination and the doors open into the small entry hall, the light catching Evan to show Eddie what he’s done.  Evan’s lips are swollen and pink, parted as he catches his breath while sky blue eyes are hungrily locked on Eddie’s.
Removing his hands from Evan’s waist, Eddie grasps the lapels of his suit jacket to tug him along, walking backwards. “Welcome to my humble abode.”
Evan snorts, a smile crossing his handsome face as he rolls his eyes.  “Humble.  Right.”
“Want a tour?”
“I want to know the quickest way to your bedroom.”

Partners in Crime - Alisha Rai
The latest Alisha Rai novel. Mira Chaudhary is 35 with a stable job as an accountant yet is hopeless in getting a dating match on an Indian American match app. When she meets with Naveen Desai when her aunt dies to go over her will, a man she stood up previously, things go the unexpected when the two have to outsmart kidnappers and art thieves on an unexpected trip to Las Vegas to figure out what Mira's aunt has been hiding.
2. Crier's War - Nina Varela
The Automae, a race made originally so the Queen can have an heir, are in power on the throne and treat humans as less than them. Alya, a human peasant working in the palace as Lady Crier, the current heir to the throne's, maid servant, is part of the rebellion to get rid of the Automae and her job is to assassinate Lady Crier. However once she meets Crier she learns she's not as cold and robotic as what she thought her to be.
3. Winter of the Gods (Olympus Bound #2) - Jordanna Max Brodsky
Okay, so cheating a bit since this is the second of a trilogy, but this is my favorite.
Artemis, under the alias, Selene diSilva, is the detective of another cult murder spree with the help of her friend, Theo. This time someone is sacrificing the other Greek Gods in old Greek cult rituals. Selene has to figure out who it is before she could become the cult's next victim.
4. My Sister, the Serial Killer -Oyinkan Braithwaite
Set in Nigeria, Korede is painfully familiar with what to do when her sister, Ayoola calls her to let her know that once again, she's killed her boyfriend in self defense. Helping her to clean up and get rid of the body (i.e., Korede does it all herself while Ayoola pretends to shed a tear during her explanations), she comes up with a plan to make sure Ayoola doesn't get caught. Then one day at Korede's job as nurse, she meets a doctor she develops a crush on. The problem is, Ayoola does too. Does Korede let Ayoola go out with him knowing what will eventually happen to him, or will she stop her sister?
5. I'm Glad My Mom Died - Jennette McCurdy
I've been a fan of Jennette McCurdy since I first saw iCarly. Reading her memoir is one of the most devastating yet most enlightening things I've ever done. She talks about her trauma as a child star with such humor and candor, that even now after months reading it, I can't get it out of my head.
6. Red, White, and Royal Blue - Casey McQuiston
We all know what this is about it.
7. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue- V.E. Schwab
In France, 1714, Addie LaRue makes a deal with the devil to live forever, however she must always be forgotten by all who know her. 300 years later, she meets a man who for some miraculous reason remembers her.
8. You Deserve Each Other- Sarah Hogle
This romance novel made me laugh SO many times! Naomi and Nicholas are now in a loveless engagement. However, neither wanting to back out of the wedding, both decide to play pranks on each other to see how far the other will go until they DO back out. One of my favorite things about this book is the mother-in-law story. If you liked The Hating Game, you'll probably enjoy this book just as much. One of my favorite things about this book is the mother-in-law plot. So hilarious and then so freeing at the end for Nicholas.
9. Yellowface - R.F. Kuang
June Hayward and Athena Liu are hanging out when Athena dies in a freak accident. Acting on impulse and jealousy, June steals Athena's literary masterpiece, claiming it as her own. To better sell the novel of Chinese loborers during the British and French war efforts of WWI, she lets her publisher rebrand her as Juniper Song despite having previous novels under her birth name. Soon outcry of this farce sparks more scandal as more and more people learn of June's secrets.

why is the percy jackson show Like That
I might be about to go on a slight rant bc all I see on twitter and tumblr are people praising this show and I genuinely feel like I must be watching something entirely different
spoiler warning for episode 6
I just watched the latest episode and I need to get these grievances off my chest
no percy + annabeth bonding scene
no revelation of percy's horse talking powers (the title of the episode was We Take a Zebra to Las Vegas and there was NOTHING about him talking to it)
in the Lotus Casino, they immediately figured out that it would make them forget (ruining the big reveal for the sake of Yet Another exposition dump)
why is Hermes there
the Grover scene in the casino came completely out of left field + felt unmotivated
the casino was supposed to be FUN and act like a break for them, which it absolutely failed to do
Why the FUCK did they have them completely miss the summer solstice deadline??? good job getting rid of all of the stakes
why was percy given four pearls instead of three? that completely negates the important choice he's supposed to make when he reaches the Underworld
overall, this show has been littered with pacing problems, exposition dumps, and stilted characterizations
I feel cheated considering how much Rick has been hyping it up and it seems like people are praising it for doing the absolute minimum

CRIMINAL MINDS: Behaviour Analysis
Tumblr media
ROSLYN JAREAU (Tracy Spiridakos)
Hostage Negotiator & Explosive Specialist
Tumblr media
White, female, 22, approximately 5 foot and 6 inches. Based in New Orleans, Lousiana. Roslyn "Ro" Jareau is the only daughter and youngest child of Captain William LaMontagne Jr. and late Agent Jennifer Jareau. She is the younger sister of Agent Henry LaMontagne and Detective Michael LaMontagne.
Roslyn is a hostage negotiator for the Behavioral Analysis Unit and specialises in bomb disarmament.
When she was 16, Roslyn's high school went into lockdown due to a school shooting—the BAU arrived as a federal agent's daughter was involved. JJ managed to find her daughter, and get her to safety, but not without dying. Roslyn, six years later, continues to blame herself.
BENTLEY PRENTISS (Jesse Lee Soffer)
Supervisory Special Agent
Tumblr media
White, 25-year-old male, roughly standing at 6 foot. Based in Sacramento, California. Bentley "Ben" Prentiss is the only son of former BAU Section Chief Emily Prentiss.
He grew up with the LaMontagnes, due to his mother's close relationship with Jennifer. Because of his mother's job, he didn't see much of her as a young child.
As a teenager, Bentley was quite aggressive due to his lack of parental figures and took much of his anger out on Roslyn—who he was envious of for having both parents in the home for some time—and as an adult, he continues to feel guilty over it.
AARON-JASON REID (Grey Damon)
Forensic Psychologist
Tumblr media
6'2, white, male, 27-years-old. Based in Las Vegas, Nevada. The only son of Doctor Spencer Reid, Aaron-Jason (or simply, Aaron) is a profiler and forensic psychologist with the Behavioral Analysis Unit.
Aaron had a quiet childhood, with his father away from the BAU and in the country of Nevada. He grew up with a younger adopted sister, Jennifer.
He knew of his father's godsons, but never met them until he joined the BAU.
AMELIA ALVEZ (Monica Raymund)
Supervisory Special Agent and Technical Analyst
Tumblr media
26-years-old, Hispanic, female, at least 5 foot. Based in Quantico, Virginia. Amelia is the eldest daughter of Luke and Penelope Alvez, and she has two younger sisters. Amelia eventually took up her mother's job in the BAU at Quantico.
Amelia was the only one of the old BAU's kids that knew about Aaron and Jennifer Reid up until adulthood, when the others met Aaron. She didn't grow up with them, but she knew of them at least.
She grew up around technology, her mother being so good with it, and adapts her skills on the move.
ADELINA PRENTISS (Stefania Spampinato)
Bentley's half-sister, 30yo. Lives in Italy.
JENNIFER REID (Barrett Doss)
Aaron's younger sister, 23yo. Lives in Las Vegas.
HENRY LAMONTAGNE (Glen Powell)
Supervisory Special Agent, 38yo. Based in Houston, Texas.
JACK HOTCHNER (Jesse Spencer)
BAU Section Chief, 40yo. Based in Quantico, Virginia.
HANK MORGAN (LaRoyce Hawkins)
Supervisory Special Agent, 30yo. Based in Chicago, Illinois.
After some years of operating in the same place, the BAU discovered that having agents based in different places helps cases. For example, if there's a serial killer in Chicago, the detectives would notify Hank and he'd call it in to Jack, who would call in the rest of the team to meet in Chicago, at Hank's office.
A lot of the team chose to be based in places they grew up in or places they've been to enough times so they're familiar with the area and some of the people. For example, Roslyn chose New Orleans because she'd been there plenty of times with her brothers and parents, and for Hank, he grew up in Chicago so he knows most of the place like the back of his hand.
If you have any questions, feel free to send them in the asks box.

What’s something absolutely unhinged that you believed in childhood that you later learned was not in fact true? Bonus points if it's a funny lie a relative told you. Have you ever had to come up with any elaborate lie for a kid yourself?
i have the perfect one for this!!! so, my mum is very good at dealing cards while playing card games, and has been since i was a kid. so, i remember once when i was probably 7 or 8, we were playing uno and she was showing off her shuffling skills while my sister and i looked at her in awe. she then jokingly said 'i got this skill when i was a crupier at las vegas'. of course we both fully believed this was true. i mean, due to her job as a reporter she used to travel all over the world so we figured that could be plausible.
it wasn't until literal YEARS after (i'm talking i was maybe 16-17?) when we found out it was a lie.
a funny one i told my sister was that i once told her arceus was God. keep in mind this was when gen 4 of pokemon was first announced, i was riding the hype train and i just wanted to talk about pokemon with someone lol. i didn't think much of it, but apparently my sister - who at that time went to religion class still, she was like 6 or 7 - got into a heated discussion with another kid in her class by insisting that what they learned in religion class was bullshit cause Arceus created the universe not God jsdjsjdsj. she found out way later as well.

Round 1 - 2024
THE SEA EAGLE
NO MONKEY BUSINESS!!!
Tumblr media
Round 1
Manly Sea Eagles      36
Defeated
Souths Rabbitohs    24
Tumblr media
In a good opener, Manly have continued to work on turning Tigers discards into genuine first graders.
It has been a long time since Manly won a Rd 1 fixture, and defeating Souths (who are a very good side), albeit at altitude in Vegas on a smaller than regulation field, is a good first step in season 2024.
This was a sea sawing affair, with 3 lead changes, and until mid second half, it was unclear who would get the chocolates. Manly overcame an 8 point deficit early in the second half to mark this as a particularly strong performance.
Manly Haumole Olakau'atu scored a typical powerhouse try, Chery Baby class was everywhere, and the super reliable Reuben Garrick did what he always does, ie gets the job done.
The intercept try by the Saab Turbo was memorable, and the third brother Turbo (who is turning into a bit of try scorer)  scored a nice try near the end to help Manly’s prospects.
Tigers discard Luke Brooks had a strong game. Too early to call whether he is the answer, and one should never get too excited about any ex Tiger’s player in round 1, but so far he looks to be a good buy, and is certainly strengthening the Manly playmaking ranks.
Manly’s run for the next 5 rounds are particularly difficult, Roosters (home), Eels (away), St George (away), Panthers (home) and Warriors (away). They will be doing well on current form, to be 3/6 after this run.
If they can be 3 or 4 wins after 6 rounds, that should set them up well for a decent 2024 season. Time will tell.
OFF FIELD ATROCITIES IN THE OFF SEASON
Pretty Pi$#ss poor really. Ever since the Director of Controversy left for parts and whereabouts unknown, and the role of interim controversy administration was passed over to the bizarre Frenchman Hugh Janus, it has been a sub standard affair all round.
Here is a few from a pretty ordinary menu of atrocities:
Junior Amone avoids jail over hammer attack but NRL career in balance. By Adam Pengilly. SMH December 11, 2023 — 2.30pm
Charges against NRL players Latrell Mitchell and Jack Wighton dropped after police admit to false evidence Latrell Mitchell and Jack Wighton have beaten charges of fighting outside Canberra nightclub Fiction. Australian Associated Press Wed 1 Nov 2023
Brisbane Broncos players Adam Reynolds and Pat Carrigan receive breach notices from the NRL after their late-night scuffle- ABC News 16 February 2024
Footy star Mitch Kenny cops ban for 'couple of Boxing Day lines' social media post involving white substance after initially blaming it on 'trolls who grabbed my phone'- AAP  27 February 2024
 LACK OF NRL INCLUSIVITY, DIVERSITY
In this shambolic Woke world in which we now live, the Sea Eagle was appalled to see the absolute lack of inclusivity and diversity in this article:
How a stint on a Samoan coconut farm sparked an NRL comeback. By Dan Walsh SMH December 18, 2023
Chanel Harris-Tavita’s feet started to itch for the NRL again with coconut in hand on a Samoan farm.…….
Harris-Tavita raised eyebrows when he was off-contract 18 months ago and realising his passion for rugby league had waned, he walked away from a six-figure salary to work out what he wanted. Working on his uncle’s farm in the Samoan village of Afega, population 2000, and collecting coconuts on weekends, it all twigged for the 24-year-old.
Tumblr media
“It was a very simple life over there,” Harris-Tavita said, having kept up with the Warriors stunning rise to a grand final qualifier under Webster when he could.
“It really put life into perspective and made me appreciate what I have here. It was a bit of happiness and a bit of FOMO [fear of missing out]. I was in Samoa watching them play and the Wi-Fi wasn’t great.
Sea Eagle Comment: All this article achieved is to link an incorrect stereotype between pacific islander players and “coconuts” (personal opinion). Was the news outlet concerned serious when it allowed the story go to print?.
VIVA LAS VEGAS
Tumblr media
With an off season that was less than exciting, in terms of off field indiscretions, the only thing left for fans was the prospect of 80 or so NRL players heading to Vegas to expand the religion that is rugby league to the USA.
Many said “What could go wrong?”. As it turned out the jury is open on that until said players return home safely to Australia, and there is no later confirmation of court based legal action being taken post Vegas, against some NRL player who overstepped the mark in the land of the long lost litigation lawyer.
This is a wait and see for now.
The Betoota Advocate cruelly suggested that Manly were part of this trip because it fell on the same weekend as the Gay Mardi Gras, and they wanted to escape the rainbow Guernsey debacle of season 2022.
See https://www.betootaadvocate.com/uncategorized/manly-deny-vegas-trip-has-anything-to-do-with-escaping-sydney-on-mardi-gras-weekend/
The Sea Eagle cannot comment on the accuracy of that, other than to say it makes perfect sense (personal opinion).
Then in the lead up to the big day, this story exploded in Mardi Gras week, over previous magazine photo shots involving none other than any Coach Seibold:
It was bizarre’: The day Manly coach Anthony Seibold posed for a gay magazine
By Adrian Proszenko SMH 28 February , 2024
Tumblr media
Apparently Coach Seibold when playing for the London Broncos did a gay magazine photo shoot at the instigation of then Virgin supremo Richard Branson. As this article says, “Seibold, Shane Millard, Tulsen Tollett and Jon Clarke, who is currently Manly’s head of performance, were among the players to get their kit off. Asked if he had a copy of the centrefold spread to share with Sin Bin, Seibold said: “I get enough shit as it is, I don’t want to give any more ammo to anyone.””.
The Sea Eagle certainly can’t argue with any of that. However, with that said, given the debacle that was the Gay Pride jersey incident of 2022, which saw Manly Legend and Coach Des Hasler dumped (unceremoniously) the mind boggles at what sort of due diligence was undertaken on these two members of the Manly coaching staff (ie Siebold and Clarke).
Manly has to got to get away from these LGBTQ promotional backdrops and concentrate on rugby league. It’s quite clear this is the sort of thing that can turn half the camp (no pun intended) towards giving up playing rugby league for religious reasons.
Anything that has the capacity to cause an NRL player to refuse to play rugby league cannot be good.
As to whether the Vegas experiment will be a long term piece of strategy genius remains to be seen. The Sea Eagle reminds the NRL, that history is littered with failed Australian enterprises who thought going to America and taking them on was a good idea.
It may be a tough ask going to the USA to try and dominate a 350m plus population base (apparently increasing at the rate of 0.5m people a week in illegal arrivals over the Southern borders). Regrettably, Rugby League is a game that is regularly confused with Rugby Union in the USA . Despite its relative simplicity as compared to the farce that is international Rugby Union, it would be fair to say Rugby League is generally not well recognised, let alone understood, in the USA.
No doubt those in control at League Central have a master plan to cover all of this. After all, everyone would readily accept that Rugby League has a long and distinguished history of doing things thoroughly, in a well considered and well executed way.
Tumblr media
Manly Prospects Season 24
Many have asked the Sea Eagle over recent weeks, how will Manly go in 2024?
First, let’s face some cold inconvenient facts. Manly have not made the 8 in the last 2 years. For reasons only they can explain, they also believe that buying players from the West Tigers will improve this and turn them into a premiership powerhouse.
Presently in the line up Manly have the following ex Tigers:
Luke Brooks
Tommy Talau
Matthew Lodge
Josh Aloai
Nathan Brown
Aitasi James
Aaron Woods***
Tumblr media
*** (present status as a Sea Eagle unclear)
The jury is out on this one. As John Cadogan of Auto Expert has often quipped, its time to apply “the BFS- Bullshi*4t  Fact Separator” to this one, and as Investment guru Ben Graham once quoted,  lets put this whole ex Tiger’s player purchase program “under the microscope of common sense”.
Whilst some ex Tigers players clearly go better when they leave the Den (let’s face it they couldn’t go any worse), the Sea Eagle privately fears like all things Tigers, that the wheels will eventually fall off when the blow torch of pressure football is applied.
Time will tell, but the Manly faithful will be watching (like Greta Thunberg at a RAM and Chevy truck convention in Tampa Bay Florida). If the implosion does occur, Manly management can expect to hear some fairly well constructed criticism from all sides on another fine mess the Club will have found themselves in.
The market for used up Ex Tigers players is is much like that of used EV’s. The best outcome you can expect is to pay someone to take it/them off your hands.

Spring Football is here
This weekend was really good actually. Some major takeaways from the first 4 games: These defensive coaches are really good, the QB play is often strong early and then not so much in the second half, and maybe the rock should have left the theatrics in the WWE. Seriously, the defenses had good days all around except for maybe the sea dragons (of course Seattle's defense isn't great). There were multiple ints in every game, as a matter of fact in the first game the Las Vegas Vipers QB threw 2 pick 6's that turned the game around.
Overall it was interesting to watch, every team was working really hard to figure out their identities offensively and defenses making really good adjustments. The pass rushers were either really good or the O lines were not very good at all. Who knows, I'm guessing they'll have everything figured out at the end of the season.
The only thing that really threw me for a loop was the sea dragon and defenders game. Apparently the defenders fans have a "tradition" of having some sort of beer snake that was taken from them by security I guess. The defenders fans were not having that shit what so ever, so they threw.... lemons? They threw lemons onto the field to protest not having their storied beer snake. This was really confusing because 1. traditions are a feature of time and this was literally their first game and 2. how exactly did they get the lemons to throw on the field?
Why were a group of essentially strangers so organized as to randomly protest anything together at a sporting event, so organized in fact that they all had the same fruit to demonstrate their collective dissatisfaction with the throwing of sour fruit. I immediately realized this was just WWE football, I get that the rock really enjoyed his old job but not everything has to be like that to be entertaining. That part just seemed too fake for me, it was so egregiously fake that I started to question everything that happened. That's not to say it can't work, I mean clearly it works for fans of wrestling but for a sport that's been such a staple and is often called an opportunity for players to showcase their skills and move up to the next level. Will these players be evaluated the same if the games they play are purely for entertainment without the idea that something is actually on the line?
Who the fuck know, honestly the important thing to me is the fact that it's still football season.

2023 NFL MOCK DRAFT
Thursday, April 27
FIRST ROUND
1. Carolina (FROM CHI) - QB Bryce Young (Alabama)
The rumor is this is a done deal. Bryce Young satisfied any concerns about his lack of ideal size and solidified himself as the safest pick. He’s got a great head for the game, unreal anticipation and field awareness, and he appears to be exactly the sort of person you want representing your team.
2. Houston - DE/OLB Will Anderson (Alabama)
Will Houston pass on a quarterback to take one of the cleanest players in this draft? They just might…
3. Houston (PROJ. TRADE W/ARZ) - QB C.J. Stroud (Ohio State)
…until they trade up to take one! The Texans have loads of capital in this draft, and while they have plenty of holes to fill, they want to follow the Jets’ example of moving up to secure the players they want.
4. Indianapolis - QB Will Levis (Kentucky)
This becomes a no-brainer with both Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud off the board. Levis is the last of the quarterbacks who can step in the play as a rookie. Levis worked out of a pro-style offense at Kentucky, and he’s got all the unearned confidence he needs to convince coaches he’s capable of starting. He’ll flop.
5. Seattle (THRU DEN) - DT/DE Jalen Carter (Georgia) !
Seattle lucks into perhaps the most talented player coming out this year. Carter’s legal troubles so far don’t seem to be serious enough to bounce him out of the top 5 given his abilities on the field.
6. Detroit (THRU LAR) - CB Devon Witherspoon (Illinois)
Jared Goff’s job is safe for now. The Lions traded away Jeff Okudah for a 5th round pick and a pack of bubble gum.  They brought in Cam Sutton to start on one side, but Witherspoon will be an instant starter across from him.
7. Las Vegas - DE Tyree Wilson (Texas Tech)
Teaming Wilson with Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones is almost unfair. Jones might have one year left with the team, so Wilson has greater future value than immediate value.
8. NY Jets (PROJ. TRADE W/ATL)  - OT Paris Johnson, Jr. (Ohio State)
The Jets aren’t convinced that Mekhi Becton is their left tackle of the future. His conditioning just isn’t at a pro level. Atlanta needs to move down and collect more picks. The Jets (with the expected acquisition of Aaron Rodgers) are in win-now mode, so they’ll spend now and figure out how to pay for it later.
9. Chicago (THRU CAR) - RB Bijan Robinson (Texas)
The Bears let David Montgomery walk in free agency, but they find a huge upgrade in the draft. Sure, they still need big help along the offensive line, but Chicago figures the talent on Day 2 isn’t remarkably different than the top talent this year. A guy like Bijan is in a class of his own.
10. Philadelphia (THRU CLE) - CB Christian Gonzalez (Oregon)
You don’t often see a Super Bowl team drafting in the top-10, so this is a pure luxury pick. The Eagles feel Gonzalez just has too much upside to pass up here - even though CB isn’t an immediate need.
11. Tennessee - OT Broderick Jones (Georgia) The Titans stick with their plan to groom Malik Willis for two years before they decide what they’ve got, so they pass on this year’s QBs. Tennessee released LT Taylor Lewan and brought in Andre Dillard, a wasted first-round pick of Philly’s a few years ago. There are plenty of potentially-great tackles available this year, but they’re starting to come off the board quickly. The Titans considered trading up but didn’t have the ammo, so they stay put and are relieved to find Broderick Jones still hanging around.
12. Arizona (PROJ. TRADE W/HOU THRU CLE) - CB Joey Porter, Jr. (Penn State)
The Cardinals need help at corner pretty badly. They were hoping that either Witherspoon or Gonzalez would fall to them after trading down, but that didn’t work out. Joey Porter is the next best option.
13. Green Bay - OT/G Peter Skoronski (Northwestern)
If the Packers will have any chance of winning in 2023, they need to bolster the O-line in front of Jordan Love. Skoronski will be a welcome sight for Love as he embarks on his first starting campaign. He’s likely a guard this year - with the potential to kick out to tackle in the future.
14. Washington (PROJ. TRADE W/NE) - QB Anthony Richardson (Florida)
The Commanders get ahead of Atlanta to take the boom-or-bust QB prospect out of Florida. Richardson shouldn’t be allowed to play at all as a rookie (outside of a few Taysom Hill-esque gadget plays), but his future potential is too good to pass up here.
15. Atlanta (PROJ. TRADE W/NYJ VIA GB) - DE Lukas Van Ness (Iowa)
Atlanta needs defensive line help in the worst way, so they take a risk on the green Van Ness. He may need a few years to develop, but he’s got Trey Hendrickson potential. They pick up one of the Jets’ many, many 2nd rounders in the move down and well as 2024 compensation.
16. New England (PROJ. TRADE W/WAS) - WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Ohio State) +
The Pats have a terrible record of drafting wide receivers, but they try again. Smith-Njigba is likely only a slot receiver, but he could be an elite one.
17. Pittsburgh - OT Darnell Wright (Tennessee)
The Steelers need to focus on that woeful offensive line this year. Kenny Pickett never really had much of a chance as a rookie, but he still showed promise. Time to give him some blockers.
18. Detroit - TE Michael Mayer (Notre Dame)
The Lions are so close to being a great team; they’re likely eyeballing the 1-2 positions of greatest need to get them over the hump. Tight end is a glaring hole on their roster. Michael Mayer is the safest pick among this year’s TEs. Pro Bowl-level hands, strong blocking ability, not much YAC to his game, but he’ll move the chains as well as anybody. Day 1 starter and huge improvement.
19. Tampa Bay - G O’Cyrus Torrence (Florida)
The Bucs are in desperate need of offensive line help. Torrence is the best pure guard coming out this year, but this is still a bit high for him.
20. Seattle - QB Hendon Hooker (Tennessee)
Hooker has been getting a lot of looks from teams at the bottom of the first round. Seems like someone is bound to take a risk on him on the first day, maybe higher than people expect. The Seahawks love Geno Smith, but Hooker will be the starter 2 years from now. If Hooker hadn’t gotten injured, we’d be talking about him as a top-10 talent with his accuracy and decision-making.
Miami - FORFEITED
21. LA Chargers - WR Zay Flowers (Boston College)
The Chargers prepare for the eventual end of Keenan Allen’s stellar career by bringing in someone with some of Allen’s qualities. Zay Flowers can be brought along slowly as a rookie, but he’s a potential #1 target for Justin Herbert for years to come.
22. Baltimore - CB Deonte Banks (Maryland)
The Ravens keep Deonte Banks near home. They have an aging defensive backfield badly in need of quality youth. Banks showed amazing athleticism at the Combine.
23. Minnesota - DE Myles Murphy (Clemson)
The Vikings once boasted greatness along their defensive line, but that talent has waned in recent years. They’ll need to replenish, and it starts with Murphy.
24. Jacksonville - DT/DE Calijah Kancey (Pittsburgh)
The Jags have a habit of taking D-linemen in this round - not always with great luck. Kancey is a bit of a steal here, if not a huge immediate need for Jacksonville.
25. NY Giants - TE Dalton Kincaid (Utah)
The Giants somehow eked out a playoff appearance despite having the most woeful set of starting receivers in the league. They got by with a rookie at tight end last year, but they badly need to upgrade there.
26. Dallas - TE Darnell Washington (Georgia)
Once the Cowboys let Dalton Schultz walk in free agency, it opened up a huge hole at tight end. Darnell Washington is a combination of size and athleticism that doesn’t come along very often. Dallas fans should be doing backflips over this one.
27. Buffalo - DE/OLB Nolan Smith (Georgia) +
The undersized and oft-injured Nolan Smith falls down the board a bit farther than some draftniks thought, but the Bills take a chance on his freakish athleticism. He may need to convert to linebacker in this scheme, but he’s got time to develop.
28. Cincinnati - CB/S Brian Branch (Alabama)
The Bengals’ safety position got raided in free agency, so they bring in some fresh legs. Branch will be an all-purpose defensive back initially but his future is at free safety.
29. New Orleans (THRU SF, MIA, DEN) - DT Bryan Bresee (Clemson) +
The Saints might be the beneficiaries of a surprising fall here. Bresee is a run-stopping expert with a little pass-rushing ability to go along with it.
30. Philadelphia - DE Keion White (Georgia Tech)
The Eagles love their defensive line rotation, and they need bodies to keep those players fresh. Keion White has enjoyed a rapid rise up the draft boards, and the fact that he was one of the players invited to attend Day One of the draft speaks to how valued he is by GM’s.
31. Kansas City - OT Anton Harrison (Oklahoma)
Jawaan Taylor was brought in to play left tackle (after spending his entire pro career on the right side), so Harrison is headed to the other side of the line.
