"If one man can do that, then he should be torn to shreds and I would be happy for the meal."
Carmilla studies her. She knows the look of a trapped animal.
"Is the Wichita I know still out there? I'm incredibly confused."
Carmilla is walking through town. It's very quiet, and it's very dark. She's humming something under her breath, and it sounds like an old hunting song.
There's a snapping sound, and they quickly glance into the darkness.
"Hello?"
Someone else is singing along. Their voice is garbled and cracks in odd places and is overall quite bad. But it is a voice.
Though perhaps not a human one.

"That's- that's horrible. What, well, what exactly happened?"
Carmilla looks more wolfish than ever, teeth bared, glancing around. Gale just seems defeated, the wind around them almost in a storm.
"Gale, does it matter? We're obviously not safe or wanted here. Why do you even bother?"
"Because, dearest, she once mattered to me. And I cannot just give up if anyone needs help. I have enough money to help. I- I just feel bad."
Gale sighs. They feel horrible. If they hadn't left, if fae had been in the country, then maybe he could have helped.
"I don't care. We should leave. I don't have a great feeling about this."
Carmilla is walking through town. It's very quiet, and it's very dark. She's humming something under her breath, and it sounds like an old hunting song.

"I may not. But I cannot truly care, really, when in the End, it will all be for nothing. For as I end, so shall the universe. But, I know that I used to care about you. Or whoever you used to be."
He's backed up, and Cara is now standing in front of them, almost as if she's guarding her.
"Tell me what happened. To you. To this place. I want to know."
Carmilla is walking through town. It's very quiet, and it's very dark. She's humming something under her breath, and it sounds like an old hunting song.

"I know you. At least, I used to. I'm Gale, remember?"
Gale looks concerned. Carmilla just looks like she's ready to attack.
"What are you?"

Cara grins, laughing a little.
"Good to know that it's not a bad tree."
Amelie weaves through the crowd, eyes locked on someone only they can see, desperate to catch up with them,to see if they were right.
But they never come closer, and it loses sight of them, bumping into a person in the crowd and tripping.

The wind stops. In its place, Gale stands. He looks as if she's just crawled out of bed and is holding a glass of who knows what.
"Oh, thank the gods."
Gale is obviously baffled.
"Wichita? Is that you? Are you ok?"
Carmilla is walking through town. It's very quiet, and it's very dark. She's humming something under her breath, and it sounds like an old hunting song.

Carmilla grins back, though it looks more like a wolf's snarl.
"Oh, so you're not afraid to show your fangs, are you?"
Something in the air shifts, like a growing storm. Cara and Wichita can hear something along the lines of a laugh, although it's hard to tell if it was human of just the breeze.
"Gale?"

"That would be on brand for you, based off of everything Gale has told me."
She sits down, looking up at Amelie.
"How's the weather up there?"

"Carmilla. That's the name I was given. But, well, I suppose you could call me Cara as well. It's grown on me since Gale started using it."
She laughs a bit, glad the dark is covering up her blush.
"Bit dangerous to be travelling alone at this time, isn't it?"
Carmilla is walking through town. It's very quiet, and it's very dark. She's humming something under her breath, and it sounds like an old hunting song.

"My father passed it on to me. So we share that, I suppose. But, then again, that's what you get when you were raised by a hunter."
Cara chuckles, and even that sounds unnatural, almost like a hyena's laugh.
"Might I have the pleasure of learning who else knows the song I though long forgotten?"

Carmilla goes along with the voice, humming the old, long forgotten song. When the last note comes, she fades it into a low, not-quite growl.
"So, where'd you learn that song? No one has known it in a long time."
They ask this as if she'll get a reply, which she doesn't think is too likely.

"Fae do that occasionally. She treats most everything like an experiment. But I do care about her."
Cara sighs.
"As to your harmlessness, I'm not sure I believe that."
She smiles a little, trying to joke around with Amelie.

"Yes, I'm a Hunter. But I wouldn't try anything, I believe that I would be gutted if I did."
They grin, this time more wolfish. Her canine teeth are sharper than they should have been.
"Gale's told me about you. Says that you're something else. Also says that you stuck him in a web."
Amelie weaves through the crowd, eyes locked on someone only they can see, desperate to catch up with them,to see if they were right.

Cara grins a bit at that.
"Alright, by the look and smell of you, I'd say you definitely have some connection to the Web, and, most likely, either the Spiral or Stranger."
They reach up to tuck the bit of hair that came out of her braid back.
"I'm Carmilla, by the way. Most people call me Cara, though. And by most people, I mean Gale."
She laughs a bit, and Amelie can see them blushing slightly at the mention of Gale's name.

"Yes, of course! Not a problem at all."
Carmilla studies them.
"Who are you? And what are you?"
She instantly clamps a hand over her mouth.
"I'm sorry."
