the best thing about conferences hosted at your home institution is getting to have the entire experience of stumbling in bewilderment towards an unfamiliar alumnus building and repeatedly getting lost... all while being intensely cognizant that you are no more than half a mile from your usual daily parking spot.

COMFORT CHARACTERA WRAAAAAPPED!!!!!!!! Yeah I wanted to do smthn nice for the end of the year, like a tribute to my interests and the media that's kept me sane during one of the worst years of my life, so I drew this! Figured I'd use the 6 characters format since it's the easiest set up for drawinf multiple characters without them necessarily needing to be interacting lmao.

Some things I would like to clarify! One; I put both Kenny and Cartman on here bcuz uh. Tbh most of the SP characters were comforts for me this year, but I didn't wanna include more than two, so I just threw in the two I like analyzing the most and called it a day akfjfkemfmekdm. And two; Mercs for Money isn't represented because I wasn't super fixated on any of them individually this year, DuckTales wasn't included because that show has more comfort pairings for me then it does characters, and both Zombies and Frozen were excluded because I have had too much rage directed at those properties to call any of the characters comforting :)

If I have the time/motivation before new years I'll prolly do another one of these with comfort ships idk-

Day 177 - Does Anything Truly Exist? Does Nothing Truly Exist?

My mind falters for a moment, my senses suddenly shifting to something entirely alien.

Can I describe the lights? The sounds? The world in which I find myself?

...could it ever be accurate?

A symbol is etched into the ground, and two people stand above it. One calls out "It's a 6" while the other rebuts "No, it's a 9", seemingly ignoring the arrangement of matter is infinitely more than either of those labels given to it.

The atoms - at least, that's what we observe - are made up of various identifiable arrangements. Carbon, iron, perhaps some water that's yet to have dried from the sun.

The protons, the electrons, the quarks. Where does it stop? Where does it start?

Is that all they are? Or is there no way to experience the way that they're a dinglere? An elevouse? A million other names for a million other perspectives of the same phenomenon?

What's real? What's not? Could we ever know all the ways something can be perceived? Could we ever comprehend even the most infinitesimal number of perceptions of what something is?

Are we doomed to only ever see the 6 and the 9?

...even the words themselves are limiting. Perhaps it isn't something we could ever comprehend...but

Even if I can't comprehend it, it doesn't stop me from contemplating it.

when it comes to parking on campus in the most popular lot during prime class time, there's three things you need: patience, persistence, and to be a predator

thinking about simon riley waiting for you when you come home from work.

during the times he's been on deployment, you still had to wake up every weekday at 6 and go to work from 7 to 3 which fills the empty void in your heart but still, you dread to go back to an empty home.

so, when simon comes back after 3 long months on deployment, he sets his bags down and kicks his boots off, treading to the bathroom and taking a shower so at least he doesn't reek of sweat and war when his missus comes home. he turns the shower off, gets changed, makes himself a cuppa, and sits on the couch patiently waiting for you.

when he hears your car parking in the driveway, he can't help but feel his lips curl up a bit knowing you won't walk into an empty house anymore.

unlocking the door, you let out a long, exhausted sigh after a day of scolding interns who barely do their job right. much to your surprise, after walking in and taking off your shoes, you see your husbands boots on the spot of the rack that has been empty for the past 3 months. whipping your head around, you see simon riley smiling right at you, sitting on the couch in your shared living room.

"simon!" you let out as you run over to your husband, engulfing him in an embrace he reciprocates with his bear hugs. "hi luvie" he responds back as he nuzzles his face into your neck, "i missed you".

that night, he tells you that he's decided to resign from the 141, saying that he can't go to war knowing the dangers and turmoil it may bring in future deployments. and knowing that you are home alone every night, worrying about him, having to lay alone in your shared bed.

As much as it sucks that my dads truck is broke down again

It is advantageous for me cuz now he borrows my car when he needs to go somewhere while my moms at work

Which means he puts gas in my car for me

I’m writing this in the perspective of the citizens of Amity Park, just an fyi

Rules for interacting with Phantom

1. Don’t go looking for him. Phantom knows when someone is looking for him and will avoid you at all costs.

2. It’s suggested to learn a little sign language since Phsntom with randomly switch from English to ghost speak. This change seems uncomfortable in most cases and causes him distress when he can’t communicate what he’s trying to say.

3. If he picks you up or grabs your hand and starts pulling on you, don’t freak out. He’s trying to move you out of harm’s way. Follow him until he lets go.

4. If he approaches you at night and asks if he can stargaze with you, say yes. You won’t be in trouble if you say no, but we’re trying to get him used to humans.

5. If you spot him, don’t go out of your way to approach him. He doesn’t like that. He’ll notice you coming.

6. If you spot him and he’s near something you need, such as the entrance to your workplace or your campfire, simply say hi to him and continue to avoid startling him. He’s been reported to conjure up ice spikes from the ground around him or shoot ectoplasm when he’s startled, so avoid doing so if you can.

7. If you notice the Fentons near where Phantom is, try to redirect them. Phantom is our only real line of defense against other ghosts who want to cause harm.

8. If you hear a loud, haunting wail, don’t worry. That’s possibly Phantom’s most powerful weapon, and it’s highly effective against other ghosts. This is usually taken as a sign that the town is now safe again. Do not approach Phantom after he uses this power unless you want to get punched in the face. This power takes up most of his strength and leaves him vulnerable, which makes him extra cautious and scared of both humans and ghosts. If he’s injured and you want to help, it’s best to go in preparing for retaliation. (Extra warning: Phantom’s saliva contains ectoplasm, which is essentially acid for anything living. Be VERY careful, because he will try to bite as a last resort. Try to make sure he knows you’re there to help before touching him.)

9. If you’re a ghost hunter and you harm Phantom, and you hear a loud groan in the distance that oddly reminds you of a broken grandfather clock, apologize and do what you can to fix your mistake immediately. Phantom isn’t all alone. He has allies, and some of them, you never want to meet.

10. If he approaches you and strikes up conversation, it’s your choice to respond or not.
