Adrien observed her silently as she examined herself in the reflection of her phone camera.

“So when can I expect my fangs to come in?” Marinette poked at prodded at her very human teeth, seemingly almost disappointed that the transformation would take time to complete.

“I’m not entirely sure,” he admitted. His mind drifted off to the inevitable conversation he’d need to have with his mother regarding the recent developments of his little slip up the other day. She’d probably have the answers to his new roommates questions.

“So, you really don’t know of anyone else who was turned?” Marinette set her phone down and fixed him a befuddled look from across the kitchen island.

“No,” his gaze fell from her scrunched features to the toast on her plate. “It’s not common anymore because our food supply is handled much differently than it was several decades ago.” Adrien didn’t miss the way she flinched at the mention of food. That was one thing he figured she’d struggle with. The change in appetite would be drastic and daunting. He hoped they’d have a little more time for Marinette to become accustomed to her new life before the more difficult parts of vampirism effected her.

I decided to study foreign languages because I love literature, and I wanted to see with my own eyes, without the interposition of the translator, how the authors of my favourite books really felt.  I wished to read those emotions directly from the source. 

However, now that I try to put on paper and ink how I feel, I realise that nothing we read is devoid of translation and that when I try to convey my feelings via words lots of things get lost in translation.

And I wonder if it's always like this or if it's because I myself am not able to read with a clear mind my own emotions.
