“They didn’t leave us air to breathe,” said Zawahri, 52, describing a months-long campaign of violence and intimidation that intensified in the last two weeks. First villagers were barred from grazing lands, and the spring, then violence reached their homes.
“They came into the village and destroyed houses and sheep pens, beat an 85-year-old man, scared our children. Slowly our lives became unlivable.”
A few men are trying to stay on amid the shells of homes, empty animal pens, smashed solar panels and broken windows, staking a fragile claim to their own village.
This was not an individual tragedy. Men from Angels of Peace are part of a broad, violent and very successful political project to expand Israeli control of the West Bank that has accelerated, say activists, since the 7 October attacks by Hamas launched a war with Israel.
The unlikely agents of this land grab are sheep and goats, herded by radical settlers on small outposts.
Taking land by building homes and communities on it is slow and expensive. Taking control of large swathes of dry hills needed to feed a herd of animals, by intimidating and isolating Palestinian shepherds and bringing in another herd, is much more efficient.
“This has been the most successful land-grab strategy since 1967,” said Yehuda Shaul, a prominent activist who is director of the Israeli Center for Public Affairs thinktank, and a founder of Breaking the Silence, an NGO that exposes military abuses in occupied areas.

Coal Power Defined This Minnesota Town. Can Solar Win It Over? (New York Times)
The past and the future of electricity in America are perhaps most visible in a Minnesota town surrounded by potato farms and cornfields.
Towering over Becker, a community of a little more than 5,000 people northwest of Minneapolis, is one of the nation’s largest coal power plants. It is being replaced — to the dismay of some residents — with thousands of acres of solar panels and a test of long-duration batteries.
Becker is one of the first of a group of seven Minnesota municipal areas, called the Coalition of Utility Cities, making the change from a fossil-fuel-based economy to clean energy.
“We are the guinea pig for the whole group,” said Tracy Bertram, the mayor of Becker, acknowledging the anxiety some have felt about the loss of an economic anchor. “People don’t like change. It’s the unknown: ‘What will my world look like?’”
When the Sherburne County Generating Station, known as Sherco, completes its renewable project on adjacent land, it will stand as the largest solar farm in the Upper Midwest — replacing three coal units in Becker with three solar sites on the town’s outskirts along the Mississippi River.
Becker crystallizes part of the legacy of the administration of Gov. Tim Walz, Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate, and his commitment to Minnesota’s goal of 100 percent carbon-free electricity by 2040. And it tests how the energy transition could unfold on a nationwide scale for jobs at decades-old fossil fuel facilities, local tax revenues and agricultural businesses.
President Biden’s climate bill, the Inflation Reduction Act, aims to cut U.S. emissions at least 52 percent below 2005 levels by the end of this decade, and his administration is counting on solar power to play a significant role in decarbonizing electricity production. One Energy Department report concluded that solar energy could provide up to 40 percent of the nation’s electricity by 2035.
Minnesota is among the states that can benefit from the Inflation Reduction Act by using it as a tool to replace coal plants with sources like solar farms. Through the law, Sherco’s owner, Xcel Energy, received tax credits that reduced the cost of the solar project for the utility’s ratepayers.
Becker is also one of two sites where Xcel is installing demonstration battery systems from Form Energy, a Massachusetts company. The systems — using readily available materials like water, air and iron — can store solar and wind-generated energy as a backup, with a capacity to power 2,000 homes for up to five days.

Periodic Table Championship: Round 2, Day 3, Carbon vs. Tellurium
The fifth match of day 3 of round 2 of the championship has element 6, carbon, facing off against element 52, tellurium. Last round, carbon easily defeated copernicium with 90.7% of the votes, while tellurium had a less decisive match, beating gadolinium with 62.5% of the votes. A reminder of our challengers:
Carbon is a solid, nonmetallic element that serves as the common element for all known forms of life. Its ability to form polymers gives it unique properties among the other elements, in addition to its various other allotropes. Even separate from its role in biology, applications of carbon are too numerous to fully list, including nearly all commercial polymers (including textiles), alloying (primarily in steels), as lubricants (in the form of graphite), and machining (in the form of diamond). Its name comes from the Latin for coal and charcoal.
Tellurium is a brittle, rare metalloid that crystalizes in the trigonal crystal system at room temperature. It is mildly toxic, a semiconductor, and one of the rarest solid stable elements on Earth. Tellurium is primarily used in solar panels and thermoelectrics, but is also used in alloying and in rubber. Its name comes from the Latin for earth.

"Phasing out animal agriculture represents “our best and most immediate chance to reverse the trajectory of climate change,” according to a new model developed by scientists from Stanford and the University of California, Berkeley."
"Based on the model, published in the open-access journal PLoS Climate, phasing out animal agriculture over the next 15 years would have the same effect as a 68 percent reduction of carbon dioxide emissions through the year 2100. This would provide 52 percent of the net emission reductions necessary to limit global warming to 2 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels, which scientists say is the minimum threshold required to avert disastrous climate change.'
"Many will scoff at the idea that billions of people can be convinced to switch to a plant-only diet within 15 years. To these skeptics, Eisen points out that other revolutions have happened in less time. “We went from having no cellphones to cellphones being ubiquitous in less time than that. Electricity, cars, solar panels – all became common in a relatively short period of time,” Eisen said."

How Green Energy Helps Fund Taliban Islamic Terrorists
We have been reporting on how green energy is being used to fund the Communist Chinese.
There is one primary reason and its named is — lithium.
Lithium is a key mineral used to creating green energy and powers all electric vehicles.
The BBC’s Catherine Early who in a November 24th, 2020 article titled The new ‘gold rush’ for green lithium wrote,
Lithium is crucial for the transition to renewables, but mining it has been environmentally costly. Now a more sustainable source of lithium has been found deep beneath our feet. [ … ] The commercial use for lithium in the 21st Century could not be clearer. It is found not only inside smart phones and laptops, but is now vital to the clean energy transition, for the batteries that power electric vehicles and store energy so renewable power can be released steadily and reliably. Demand has soared in recent years as carmakers move toward electric vehicles, as many countries including the UK, Sweden, the Netherlands, France, Norway and Canada announce a phase-out of combustion-engine cars. In fact, five times more lithium than is mined currently is going to be necessary to meet global climate targets by 2050, according to the World Bank. Read more.
Visual Capitalist’s Jeff Desjardins did a series of infographics on lithium and predicted that by 2025 the battery market alone will be almost 2x bigger than the entire lithium market today.
The largest producers of lithium products in 2015 were Chile 37.0%, Australia 33.0%, Argentina 11.0%, China 10.0%, Zimbabwe 3.1%, other 3.3% and the USA 2.6%.
According to the World Economic Forum in January 2023 the largest producers of lithium are: #1 Australia 52%, #2 Chile 25%, #3 China 13%, #4 Argentina 6%, #5 Brazil 1%, #6 Zimbabwe 1%, #7 Portugal 1%, #8 The United States 1% and lastly the rest of the world with 0.1%
Lithium Funding Islamic Terrorists
In a July 21, 2023 FrontPage article titled “‘Green Energy’ Will Be Powered by Taliban Lithium” Daniel Greenfield reports,
One of the sales pitches for electric cars and assorted green energy projects was that we’d at least be able to unplug from Middle Eastern oil. But instead, we’ve become dependent on the Saudis anyway (the Saudis own 5% of Tesla) and, more crucially on China which sells us the junk solar panels and the rare earth metals (obtained through incredibly dirty mining processes that have devastated lakes and poisoned entire villages) to power the ‘clean’ revolution of ‘green energy’. Now, topping all that, since the United States failed to develop the lithium mines in Afghanistan and since Biden refuses to mine any at home, the Taliban and Communist China will profit from every garbage electric car that the lefties force down our throats in the name of their hoax environmental crisis. Save the planet, fund Islamic terrorism.

Most Americans Unaware of Renewable Energy Risks and Fossil Fuel Uses: Poll

Public Awareness of Energy Risks
A new poll conducted by the American Energy Institute reveals that a significant portion of Americans lacks awareness about the Renewable Energy Risks and the importance of traditional energy sources like oil and gas. According to the survey, 57% of U.S. voters were unaware that the country faces an elevated risk of energy shortfalls. In contrast, 43% acknowledged the growing concerns regarding energy shortages.
Data from the U.S. Energy Administration Agency highlights that two-thirds of U.S. energy grids have previously been vulnerable to shortages, with regions relying more on renewable energy being at a higher risk. Despite these challenges, the poll also found that public understanding of how fossil fuels contribute to everyday life remains limited.
Limited Knowledge About Fossil Fuel Applications
The survey showed that many Americans underestimate how vital fossil fuels are beyond heating homes or fueling vehicles. For instance, only 41% of respondents knew that fossil fuels help preserve baked goods, while 46% recognized their role in producing medicines like aspirin. Furthermore, just 49% of voters were aware that fossil fuels contribute to creating ammonia, which is essential for fertilizers.
When asked about the most valuable uses of fossil fuels, 60% cited gas for home heating, followed by gasoline for vehicles (50%) and electricity for cooling (49%). Other uses, like producing concrete (34%), medical device plastics (30%), and fertilizers (27%), received lower recognition. Renewable Energy Risks were highlighted in the context of these findings. Jason Isaac, president of the American Energy Institute, emphasized the importance of educating voters, stating, “Traditional energy sources are a bulwark of prosperity and comfort.”
Political Divide and Future Energy Plans
The poll further revealed a divided public opinion on energy priorities. Support for expanding renewable energy sources like solar panels, wind turbines, and hydrogen production stood at 48%, narrowly surpassing the 43% who supported boosting oil, coal, and natural gas production. However, this divide reflected clear political lines: 64% of Democrats favored renewables compared to just 27% backing fossil fuels, while 63% of Republicans supported fossil fuels over renewables (30%). Independents leaned slightly toward renewables, with 48% in favor and 43% supporting traditional energy.
The findings come as a Republican-led Congress prepares to prioritize energy legislation. President-elect Donald Trump has vowed to revive fossil fuel production under the slogan “Drill, baby, drill.” Energy policy reforms, such as the previously passed Lower Energy Costs Act, may resurface, focusing on simplifying the permitting process to increase oil and gas output.
Jason Isaac expressed optimism about reform efforts, particularly advocating for more nuclear energy and streamlined regulations. “The burden should be on the government to prove environmental impacts, not on the companies applying for permits,” Isaac stated.
The survey on Renewable Energy Risks polled 1,600 registered voters between November 21 and 25, with a margin of error of ±2.45 percentage points. Women made up 52% of respondents, while men comprised 48%. By party identification, 36% were Democrats, 31% Republicans, and 33% independents.

Periodic Table Championship: Round 1, Day 6, Tellurium vs. Gadolinium
The second match of day 6 of round 1 has element 52, tellurium, facing off against element 64, gadolinium. Let's meet the challengers:
Tellurium is a brittle, rare metalloid that crystalizes in the trigonal crystal system at room temperature. It is mildly toxic, a semiconductor, and one of the rarest solid stable elements on Earth. Tellurium is primarily used in solar panels and thermoelectrics, but is also used in alloying and in rubber. Its name comes from the Latin for earth.
Gadolinium is a ductile rare earth element that crystalizes in the hexagonal crystal system at room temperature. It is ferromagnetic slightly below room temperature, and the most paramagnetic element above. Gadolinium is not a widespread element, but has specific applications in alloying, magnetism, and phosphors, among others. It was named after the mineral gadolinite, which in turn was named for Johan Gadolin.
