Obviously since formal NaNoWriMo participation is no longer on the table, my November will now feature the grocery-store generic brand version of writing 50k in 30 days.

"50kin30Days" is now the challenge name for me. Or abbreviated, "50n30."

This time last year, I failed to cross the 50,000 word finish line for the first time in 14 years. To be fair though, I was still recovering from a stroke and barely had full movement back in my right hand. I still tried anyway, thinking some words written was better than none cause at least I was still here able to write.

This year however, I was determined to do better, and while I came very close to the deadline which was midnight tonight, I crossed that finish line and wrote my 50K this year.

The story is a bit of a mess, needs serious revisions and more chapters, but it's still there... and is a step in the right direction. I can’t wait to finish this book, get a quick edit done and then hopefully release it by March. Fingers Crossed!

I had to jump on Pinterest for this #NaNoThatWriMo character aesthetic challenge of Day 8. (Flip to second photo.) I'm on Pinterest as @KEngenAuthor in case you want to follow me. -- I mean, I know what my Snow White looks like in my head, but didn't have an image ready. This is a good likeness for her, sort of. -- Of course my SW looks a little bit more battered, not quite as photo-ready. Of course she's still gotta be pretty, because that's part of what motivates the Queen's hatred of her, but that's far from her determining characteristic. She's bold, she's broken, she's stubborn. She's no weak female waiting for a man to rescue her--but she's also far from an inexplicable warrior princess. And, despite all that, she's still Snow White. Coronavirus... Worldwide panic... Angry people everywhere... Forced isolation... Social distancing... Having my social media hacked... Concussion... Various other injuries... I won NaNoWriMo and I’m so proud of myself! 

Screw you, people that told me people always lose on their first attempt (yep, I actually had a few people say that) because I proved you wrong!  Now I can focus on my fantasy novel again and hopefully apply what I’ve learned this month to make my writing better :)
