I’ve read every completed metal sandwich fic over 50k (I am a long fic girly at my core) on AO3 but I still go back every week as tho 12 people will have finished their fics since I last checked (I refuse to read unfinished works. To much heart break ❤️‍🩹)

I didn't update yesterday but here we are again :) I did do my writing. I expect I won't have much time to write tomorrow but hopefully I can make up for that on the long weekend.

WIP Wednesday

Today is a very special WIP Wednesday, because as some of you may know, as of a few hours ago...

I wrote 50,144 words in January.

I realized a few days ago that I was at 44K, and I'm not sure I'll ever have the downtime to do this again, so I figured I had to seize the moment. I'm super excited, so as a treat, I'm going to share not one, but two snippets from Seahorse Dad Henry (reminder that means trans & pregnant) with y'all. One above the cut, one under, for NSFW reasons.

First:

After spending about five minutes with Alex and Nora, he thinks he gets it. He can see how the two of them—sharp tongues, biting wip, a competitive give-and-take that’s endless and enigmatic and alluring and terrifying all at the same time—would have explosive sex. He can also understand how that would translate better into a lifelong friendship rather than a more permanent partnership, how they’re not quite complementary when it comes to matters of the heart. Henry observes as Nora eggs Alex on until he’s attempting to disassemble his bed in less than ten minutes, he watches as she takes him down a peg when he comes in preening about being voted “Hottest Intern” by some of the junior associates. He also catches the moment when she’s too buried in her own project to notice that Alex comes home, looking grim in his white dress shirt covered in ink, notices when her joke about Alex being oblivious makes him grit his teeth. Henry remembers each one, tattooing them into the part of his mind that’s quickly become dedicated to the project of Caring for Alex; no jabs at attentiveness fits right alongside cinnamon in his coffee and the closest store that sells Tide To Go Pens.

Second (NSFW):

Henry feels a surge of pride as Alex comes less than a minute later, not even minding that Alex gets his come all over Henry’s stomach. It doesn’t hurt that Alex’s eyes go wide at the sight; there’s more than lust there, though. Something like amazement, maybe. Alex reaches out a hand, stopping an inch away from Henry’s stomach.  “Can I?” he asks, turning his head to look Henry in the eye. “I know you don’t really…” They’ve talked about the whole pregnancy belly, how amazing Alex thinks it is, how muddled Henry’s own feelings are towards his own body right now. But in this moment, the water’s clear. “Yes,” Henry nods. Alex dips his fingers into his come, smearing it across the curve of Henry’s stomach like a child discovering fingerpaint for the first time. Awe and delight dance across his face, along with other emotions that Henry’s still learning to identify, passing by too quickly for him to put a name on them. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees Alex’s cock twitch. So, arousal, too, maybe. They stay like that, peaceful, as the come starts to dry in the paths that Alex’s fingers traveled across his skin, the history of Alex’s touch on Henry’s body visible for them both. While it’s objectively a bit disgusting, Henry’s not sure he’s ever felt so beautiful. For once, his eyes can’t leave the curve of his stomach.

GUESS WHO JUST GOT 50k WORDS IN THEIR MANUSCRIPT!!!!

Did I stop in the middle of the sentence so I could took a screenshot of the word count? Hell yeah! I can't believe I reached 50k, that's like the first time in my life I wrote 50k in one book (until now I have around 43k in one other book but no more than that). That's like CRAZY! I can't believe it.

I still have approximately 30k words left in this draft, but we will celebrate that some other time.

I can't believe I wrote 50k in 66 days! I started this book on the 6th of April 2024. That's actually mind-blowing. With all that happened in the last 66 days, with finals, exams, projects, presentations, essays, and more, I somehow managed to write 50k? How?!

I can't describe how happy I am. It's crazy!

“Anything,” such a simple word, spoken with such compuser, and yet Wednesday could hear the underlying tremble in it. “That’s why you’re here, isn’t it?”

Wednesday huffed. “How do you know? Maybe I just missed the Hyde.”

As the words left her lips, she could almost sense the shift in the room. Tyler’s shoulders tensed, his knuckles whitened, and she could swear his hazel eyes flashed red.

“You better not say things like that,” Tyler said through clenched teeth.

“Why not?”

“Because he can hear you.”

I did it! I wrote 50K words for November! This also marks a year since I've been tracking my monthly word counts, which has been interesting to see in terms of word count. I have written 539,284 since the start of 2024. I do keep expecting myself to burn out but it hasn't happened yet and me and my ten WIPs have places to go. I do genuinely plan time off sometimes but those always the days that inevitably inspiration strikes. As long as it works for me, right?

Did anyone set goals for themselves for November? I'd love to hear!

CHAPTER 4, WHAT?!

Soooooo YAY FOR ISSUE #20?! I wasn't really paying attention to the number but HOLY FCK, TWENTY?!???!?!? Wow..! I did NOT EVER think it would get this far! I ain't stoppin! Every time i sit down to write, i feel amazing. This is truly what i love to do and i think that my entire purpose is to find love and write this story.. and, imo, i couldn't achieve one without the other. I've achieved both. Well, the writing is a WIP.

I added up all the words i have published and it's over 40,000! In the next few months i will add another 8,000 (mostly already written) to that and have roughly 50,000 WORDS! The average YA novel is around 80,000-100,000 words! I am in such utter disbelief. I know i don't have many readers but i am SO EXTREMELY GRATEFUL to the ones i have! Y'all are amazing!

And in another fun twist- i've been working on a "book" form that i can print at home. Each one would have 3 "bits" (the small parts i write between chapters) or 1 chapter; so far there would be eight; 4 bit books and 4 chapters. They will contain all of the associated art, facts and whatever other pieces i can include! I want to have them printed at a higher quality than my home printer BUT i like what i'm seeing so far! My favorite part is that they would all be bound by yours truly. I have bound the ones i like so far just for fun :D

So yeah, this month's zine came with all sorts of things and ideas and pride inducing goodness!

With that, i will now say.. please, everyone, this coming year is going to be absolutely chaotic. STAY SAFE, warm when you're cold and cool when you're hot and well fed.. and protect your loved ones.
