When I was a kid I would have loved to have some sort of cheesy fantasy book, the kind made of black & gold leather and those cheap acrylic gems. Now that I’m an adult with a reasonable amount of skill in bookbinding, I decided to design such a book.

The cover is in black chrome-tanned leather, with gold colored metal leaf for the designs and gold corner protectors. The gems are acrylic. I used metallic teal cardstock for the endpapers (I have a lot of it), and 50gsm sketch paper to fill it.

Endbands are in purple and blue silk thread, with a purple satin ribbon for the page marker.

I bought a 70GSM translucent tracing paper and a free texture paper (about 50GSM) for experiments.

Thank you RCA's A2 newspaper is very useful. I can directly cut the color block and stick it on the paper, and you can see the transparent color of each layer. I chose color blocks and lines, and found that the transparency of the 70GSM tracing paper is too high.

Another kind of paper was cut into A5 to make a small instantbook in order to realize my idea of ​​another book-demo. the result is very satisfying to me.

One of my first commissions that I'm still very happy with. I was given ‘artist’s choice’ for cover materials, and honestly, I love how it turned out!

This one was made with 80gsm sketch paper instead of my usual 50gsm as the person it was intended for is primarily a marker artist and both I and the gifter were concerned about ink bleeding through, but from what I'm told, it's held up pretty well. The recipient decided to use it as a daily journal/habit tracker hybrid.
