Carter Saccharo my beloved bestie Carter Saccharo forever.... Spiceberry yelling at Radiance did nothing but if Carter was there I genuinely believe she could have made Radiance feel bad about herself and her actions. Theres a fic I so very vividly remember were Carter says "you know, when you first came in, if you had broken a glass I would have turned you in to the police" and Opal said "but'cha didnt!" all smug and I think that really descibes their relationship. Carter isnt quite a maternal figure- hes more like the world's most tired older sister, and I think thats beautiful. Also, the fact that her and spiceberry were only *mentioned* to have met in the finale is so tragic- they should have bonded over their shithead wards <3
Anyways, this is my cool new original au idea for a fic. I call it "Carter has a gun and is around the whole book series" and it ends on page 50book 1 when Carter hits Radiance with the blunt of Rose's sword and knocks her unconcious, making her unable to kickstart the plot.
More seriously though, I kind of dig how hes a side character in all this. It really highlights how shes just a regular person- a regular, extremely kind woman whos reaction to a small wet beast on her doorstep (Opal) was to sigh and let them inside. And its a nice contrast to Madame Spiceberry, who helps almost to the point of unbelivably- but Carter feels very regular-person suspicious-but-kind, which I appreciate. (and like, yeah, I get it, Spiceberry is an empath, but also, girl, please dont get robbed.)
SORRY. SORRY. I JUST LOVE HER SO MUCH OKAY
Ooc- working on an absolutley deranged comic about the Chronicler and Radiance :thumbs up: youre gonna love it, and also Im drawing Carter! ^_^
I love Carter the tired college student <3

50Books 2017 -  No. 1
‘The Truth’ - Terry Pratchett
“ The Truth Shall Make Ye Fret.“
This was a re-read for me, though it’s been a few years since I’ve read it. It’s also the first actual book I’ve finished rather than putting it down half-read in a looooooong time. So that’s 1 New Year’s resolution done with at least :)
It feels a lot like William DeWorde and Sacharissa Cripslock are an early prototype for Moist Von Lipwig and Adora Belle Dearheart a couple of books later, and I have to admit I much prefer the latter couple (Adora Belle Dearheart is my everything....). There are a lot of parallels in the 2 books in terms of the overall plot - bringing something new to the Discworld, dragging AnhkMorpork into the century of the fruitbat, modernisation that’s ripe for satire. I think Pterry’s experience of working in the world of newspapers definitely shines through in some pretty sharp commentary and some world-weary cynicism about the functions of a free press.
‘The Truth’ has got some pretty good villains, a decent mystery at it’s centre, a good turn from Vimes and the watch, and a likeable enough cast of side-characters, though I don’t think any of the characters unique to this book are really hall-of-fame Discworlders.I guess Otto is the standout, and while he’s a good way to send-up a lot of old-timey Vampyre stereotypes, he feels a little too much of a caricature to me.
I enjoyed it well enough, and was happy to kick off my 50Books year revisiting the Disc, I place I never tire of.
“WHO KNOWS WHAT EVIL LURKS IN THE HEART OF MEN? The Death of Rats looked up from the feast of potato. SQUEAK, he said. Death waved a hand dismissively. WELL, YES, OBVIOUSLY ME, he said. I JUST WONDERED IF THERE WAS ANYONE ELSE.”

2019 Reading Wrap Up: All the Stats & Pretty Graphs
For those of you who have been around for a while, or who know me in person, it should come as ZERO surprise that I love statistics and charts. Side note: for those who are Harry Potter fans...yes...I am (appropriately) a Ravenclaw. In 2019, I went all in on the statistics nerdery and built myself a spreadsheet after scouring the bookternet and picking up pieces of ideas from several similarly nerdy readers. Spreadsheet lovers, UNITE! Today's post is a culmination is all of that tracking and graphing fun. So...let's take a look at my reading year in numbers and graphs. 3, 2, 1...GO! Books by the Quantity Total Books Read: 116ARCs (Advanced Reading Copies): 50Books in Translation: 7Rereads: 4 I more than DOUBLED my prior highest tracked reading year. That's insane. I attribute a good portion of this to the addition of audiobooks into my repertoire. Best reading month: October (14 books)Slowest reading month: February (4 books) Series Reads Series Reads: 32Standalones: 79Uncertain: 5 (These books may end up with sequels in the future. The authors have been noncommittal.) Started the series: 22 (Why do I do this to myself?)Series finished this year: 1 Apparently I really need to focus on finishing series. I already have the knack for starting them... Authors Read Total Authors Read: 105 Most Read Author: Rick Riordan (3 books). 10 authors had 2 books represented in my 2019 reads. New to Me Authors: 83 Pages Read / Minutes Listened Total Pages Read: 37,008 Most Read: August (4,078)Least Read: February (1,394) Most Prolific : August (131.5 pages per day)Least Prolific: February (49.8 pages per day) Average Pages per Book: 319 Longest Book: The Murmur of Bees by Sofia Segovia (543 pages)Shortest Book: And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer by Fredrik Backman (97 pages) Total Time Listened: 284:58:11Most Listened: September (39:55:44)Least Listened (after audio usage was started): May (20:28:00)         Average Days per Book: 6Average Days per Physical Read: 5Average Days per Audiobook: 7 Ratings Average Rating: 3.86Highest Rating Month: April (4.32)Lowest Rating Month: March (3.42) (I'll share the full list of 4, 4.5, and 5 star books in a later post.) Successful Books: 102 Books by the Details Average Year Published: 2004 Most Read Genre: Contemporary Highest sources: (1) Borrowed (Library), (2) NetGalley Diversity And there you have it! The basic numbers and distribution of everything I read in 2019. I'm sure it will be interesting for a few, boring for some, and just a colorful mess for everyone else. I'll be doing additional evaluations of my 2019 reading with upcoming posts. Coming soon: my 2019 Reading Challenge Success & Progress, the 2019 Book of the Year Bracket, and my results to Perpetual Page Turner's End of the Year Survey. The Plan
Behold! Let it be known that I have solved my dilemma: I know what I'm gonna read this year!
So I was scrolling through Pinterest, a favorite pastime in between classes, when I stumbled upon this little gem. Drumroll please.... A reading challenge!! Yay! Just what I need to light a fire under me. I mean, who can resist a challenge like this? 50 books in one year! I know, a daunting thought, but definitely do-able.... I think.
I'll post a link to the website I found the list on so you can check it out yourself and maybe start this journey with me. The best thing about this list is that its totally customizable (Is that a word? Tumblr says no.... If not, lets pretend it is and move on) to your own interests, while still making you branch out of your comfort zone! For example, some items on the list include: A book published the year you were born, A book of short stories, A book you can read in a day, etc. I also love that it doesn't tell you which books to read. Freedom to choose my own books, praise the book gods above! I'm not a fan of lists that tell you which books to read in your 20's or which books to read if you are a female college student, and so on. You get the idea.
Anyways, I better get started! I'll leave you to start your own book journey!
Till next time!
