The Class E11 was the first electric locomotive class built in the GDR, with production starting in 1961. Pictured here is 211 001-3 in the Deutsche Bahn Museum in Nuremberg.
The factory where it was built carried the name of Hans Beimler, who among other things served as a political officer in the famous Thälmann-Batallion for the International Brigades in the spanish civil war, where he was killed in action. In his earlier life he was working in a locomotive factory in Nuremberg, where he was part of the works council. His Grandson (also called Hans Beimler) lives in the USA and most notably wrote for Star Trek TNG.

[ STRIKE ] - Iso
Tumblr media
@galaxythixf | ISO: [STRIKE] sender aims a blow (via either their fists or their weapon) at the receiver.
Iso was a good shot—excellent, even—but there was more to combat than being able to take aim and fire.
In a fluid motion, Omen steps back, narrowly dodging the knife that slices cleanly through the air where he once stood. Anticipation courses through him, tightening his grip on the knife clutched tightly in his grasp.
Close... but not close enough.
For a moment, it appears that Iso retreats, slinking away as if to consider his next move... but in the blink of an eye, the younger agent darts forward, knife bared. Omen's gut twists—Iso's feint had caught him off guard. Panic, however, gives way as instinct takes hold.
Unraveled at the seams, Omen disappears right in front of his eyes—at the same time, a clawed hand lunges forward and closes in around him, grappling Iso from behind and holding him firmly in place.
The cool, dull edge of a blade grazes his throat, laid bare along the swell of his Adam's apple. A sharp whisper cuts against the shell of his ear.
Tumblr media
"Dead."
Carefully, Omen releases the vice grip on the younger agent's clothing, the weight of his body disappearing as he slinks backward. Slotting his knife back into its sheath, he raises his gaze back up to Iso.
"You must be able to defend yourself against their Omen's ambush. He will not afford you the same kindness." Though harsh, there's no bitterness in the deep, gravelly rumble of his voice—only patience. Encouragement.
"Try again."

About 1977 by Alan Yahnke Via Flickr: A little quick and dirty scratch retouching for a scan on an old negative. Mamiya Sekor 500 DTL, Kodak Safety Film 100 ISO, Epson V750 Scanner. I've always wondered where the camera came from that's in the photo. It looks like my Mamiya, but I only had the one camera then I think. Unless I had that Yashica rangefinder already when I took this. In which case this was shot with that. I don't remember any more.

This was one of the first photos I took of Otis after I got my DSLR 12 years ago. I had been studying photography for months before I got that camera. I wanted to make sure I would be able to take cool pictures of my new furry pal. And while all of that study helped, I was still a novice when it came to photography. I wasn't even a photographer at that point.
Otis is the reason I picked up a camera in the first place. Perhaps you could even say my passion for photography was his gift to me.
I took this photo with a shutter speed of 1/1000 and an ISO of 500. That is a low ISO by today's standards, but on the Canon 60D that was still enough to get a little noisy. I definitely could have done 1/500 at ISO 250 and captured this moment a little cleaner. And my current lens is about 50% sharper too. But it's still a great photo and I was proud I captured it at the time.
I was good at photoshop, but I wasn't great at photo editing. I didn't realize those were two different things at the time. So adding the cape was easier than processing the RAW photo. His patch of white fur is nearly blue.
Eventually I started over and re-processed the photo and added a new cape. I had a few years of photography under my belt and I think I made some improvements.
Tumblr media
This edit is probably one of my most shared photos of all time.
So what could I do with this photo in present day with everything I've learned in the last 12 years?
Tumblr media
And could I do a better job at adding a cape?
Tumblr media
I think maybe I could.
I'd like to thank donlad for inspiring me to go back and redo this photo. It was a lot of fun seeing how I've progressed. I didn't care for him claiming Otis as his own, but I feel some good came out of all of that.
I miss you, Otis.
You were always super, with or without the cape.

While some might consider them "boring" due to how common they are, I find Crows both amazing to interact with and watch, as well as photograph. They're remarkably intelligent, omnivores, and always seemingly up to something or other.
This one here was with their buddy, hunting for worms and stuff in the grass. I think he was also hoping for some of the ever elusive chips that the children running around might have dropped from their own snack patch.
They grabbed something fun here, looked at me curious, then flew up to a tree where this bird wiped it's beak on a branch for a solid minute. Very curious.
I really like the challenge of photographing these birds because they're extremely hard to get exposure correct on and be able to capture detail. Also possible I'm horrible at this and they're not that difficult, just my newbie-ness showing :) Either way, they're great practice!
This beauty was photographed at 500mm and a 1/500 shutter speed. ISO was around 400, it's a very overcast day.

Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus)
The woodpeckers started going crazy around dusk, so I popped out to check and got lucky enough to see this guy! The photos aren't great, but considering I took this at [checks notes] jesus, ISO 10k, they're pretty damn solid

Enduring Pines: Nature’s Sentinels at Makiba Park・「まきば公園の松:自然が守るたたずまい」
Perched on a 1,400-meter (4,600 ft) plateau in Yamanashi Prefecture’s Southern Yatsugatake Volcanic Group, Makiba Park offers expansive, lush pastures dotted with Japanese black pine (Pinus thunbergii) and Japanese red pine (Pinus densiflora).
Standing in the cattle-grazing pastures of Makiba Park, I feel a deep sense of awe looking at these majestic pine trees. Their tall forms and weathered branches show resilience and a strong connection to this land, having been preserved and protected for generations.
It’s humbling to see these trees left untouched, rising proudly against the landscape—a reminder of nature’s endurance and the respect that has allowed them to thrive here in the open fields.
Location: Hokuto, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan Timestamp: 13:16・2024/09/11 Pentax K-1 II + DFA 28-105mm F3.5-5.6 + CP 53 mm ISO 500 for 1/160 sec. at ƒ/7.1

For decades, the mythical Rudi Klein Collection has remained shrouded in secrecy, its remarkable cars exposed to the elements in a secluded California scrapyard. This legendary trove, believed to house some of the rarest automobiles ever built, including a long-lost Alloy Gullwing and other fabled models, was once only the subject of whispers among enthusiasts. RM Sotheby’s is thrilled to unveil ‘The Junkyard: The Rudi Klein Collection,’ a trove of automotive legends that will finally be revealed at auction in October 2024. The collection, preserved in its untouched state since Rudi Klein's passing in 2001, includes significant models recently returned from Europe, and will be made available for the first time in over fifty years. The upcoming auctions will offer a rare glimpse into this storied collection, making it a historic event for car collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Rudi Klein, a German immigrant who arrived in North America in the late 1950s, began his career as a butcher before transitioning to dealing in European classic cars through his scrapyard on the outskirts of Los Angeles. Over the decades, Klein amassed an unparalleled collection, kept private and rarely seen by outsiders. The auction will feature standout vehicles such as the 1935 Mercedes-Benz 500 K ‘Caracciola’ Special Coupe, the rare 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL ‘Alloy’ Gullwing, and the unique 1967 Iso Grifo A3/L Spider Prototype by Bertone, among others. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire some of the most sought-after and historically significant cars, each with a unique story and remarkable provenance.
