haha so cool to see two different shots of the same location from two different elevations.  i can’t tell if it’s just the same photographer who just changed position or it was just coincidence that someone else likes this view enough to shoot it. do believe it was from a different floor though because the ledge in the foreground wouldn’t be seen if they stood up higher. or am i wrong?  anyway here they are together in a photoset so they can be flipped for comparison.

2024 jp trip report (food edition)
i had originally planned to visit tokyo in 2020, but covid happened and...finally this year i managed to go on the trip! ;w; i rarely go overseas but it was really fun just walking around and stumbling upon things. i want to save up for the next japan trip already...
i'm making the post mostly to remember where i've been! i'm splitting up the food and the sights because of tumblr's image limit per post 🙄 will be posting the food here!
(sights edition here)
Day 1 (13/5/2024)
we arrived at night so pretty much everything was closed, but before i went to bed i had some cold haikara udon...i love cold udon so much and wish there was a way to get it cheap back home 😭 i also added some chilli oil with garlic, but it wasn't spicy..only the first day in and i miss singapore's spicy food 😂
Nakau なか卯 (chain store, multiple outlets)
Tumblr media
Day 2 (14/5/2024)
we spent day 2 at ikebukuro and nakano...mostly browsing weeb shit 😭
started the day with some breakfast at komeda's coffee, they have a morning set and auugfhjhghh the bread used in japan cafes' toast is always so soft and fluffy..obsessed
Komeda's Coffee コメダ珈琲店 (chain store, multiple outlets)
Tumblr media
at nakano broadway, the basement had some supermarkets/grocery stores and one of them sold sashimi. i didn't end up buying from here, but...LOOK at this sashimi, for 580jpy?? omg 😭😭😭 i want
Tumblr media
we had lunch at a hayashi rice place near nakano broadway! i had curry omurice myself while my friend got the hayashi omurice. the omelette was sooo good...society if i could cook an egg like this on my own
164-0001 Tokyo, Nakano City, Nakano, 5 Chome-55-15
Tumblr media
and for dinner we had monjayaki at ikebukuro..we've never tried like, actually cooking the monjayaki before? so it was a fun experience!
Tumblr media
Day 3 (15/5/2024)
on my morning walk i decided to try a canned drink from a vending machine. satsuma-imo milk! so in singapore, there was recently a 'nutri-grade' rating introduced mandatory for all drinks to indicate the sugar level in the drink. i didn't think i would miss it in japan LOL i'm sorry but drinking this drink was like drinking sugar syrup T_TT i think as i got older my sugar tolerance has drastically dropped..
Tumblr media
we started at akihabara, and had brunch at niku no mansei (yes the well-known building with like 10 floors of meat before it closed, i think it split into a couple of places?) we went to the akiba place branch for their hemborger hamburg steak...how am i supposed to go back to eating it in singapore after this?? 🫠 IT'S SO GOOD (i'm also laughing at the token broccoli though)
Niku no Mansei Akiba Place 101-0021 Tokyo, Chiyoda City, Sotokanda, 3 Chome−15−1, Akiba Place, 3F
Tumblr media
after akiba we went to asakusa, and since it's asakusa we had to have some tendon..we just went into one of the tendon places we spotted but i didn't realise it was akimitsu!? we have akimitsu in singapore too 😂 but loved the tempura eel!
Akimitsu 秋光 111-0032 Tokyo, Taito City, Asakusa, 1 Chome-29-11
Tumblr media
Day 4 (16/5/2024)
i got some plum onigiri from famima for breakfast on my morning walk. oughgkhghjh i already miss conbini onigiri so much...affordable yet tasty! i really love onigiri, but our convenience store onigiri in singapore is a bit overpriced, which wouldn't be so bad if the onigiri itself wasn't also terrible with cold hard rice :')
Tumblr media
we started the day at tsukiji outer market. SEAFOOD..... we finally got some sashimi today, my beloved,,, we had engawa truffle salt sushi and also a sashimi bowl of the day. and also it was my first time trying shiokara! apparently it's squid in a kind of sauce made from fermented fish/sea animal innards. i'm not sure if it might be an acquired taste, but for a seafood lover like me it was so good 🥺 the lady serving us food was also really nice and we had a little chat even with our terrible spoken japanese lol.
104-0045 Tokyo, Chuo City, Tsukiji, 4 Chome-9-5
Tumblr media
i also found shirako in the market! it was my first time eating it (i think it can be found in singapore? but not particularly common). other than the shiso leaf it was served plain though, while i like the taste i kinda wish i had rice or something to go with it.
Tumblr media
also we got some matcha latte from the market before leaving! i got the 'less sweet' which was perfect, when a lot of times the least sweet (without being zero sugar) option from drink stores are too sweet for me..
104-0045 Tokyo, Chuo City, Tsukiji, 4 Chome−14−18
Tumblr media
some ramen for dinner at ryogoku! admittedly i'm not a super into ramen person 😅 but butter in noodles is always such a nice combo!
Tadokoro Shoten 田所商店 (chain store, multiple outlets)
Tumblr media
and some parfait for supper. look at their logo!! so cute 🥹🥹🥹
130-0026 Tokyo, Sumida City, Ryogoku, 3 Chome-22-8
Tumblr media
Day 5 (17/5/2024)
started the day with some zaru soba. it was nice but cold soba was kind of a mistake because it was raining that morning and so COLD lol
Yudetaro ゆで太郎 (chain store, multiple outlets)
Tumblr media
we started at shinjuku today and walked our way down to shibuya. with my friend's recommendation we tried blue bottle coffee? the latte was nice and even had this natural sweetness(?) to it despite not adding sugar.
Tumblr media
and then we went to takeshita street. i think marion crepes is the most well-known one, but the queue..??? so we ended up going to another crepe store. it's still a treat and has a variety of flavours! i got the regular strawberry whipped cream.
150-0001 Tokyo, Shibuya City, Jingumae, 1 Chome-16-16-8
Tumblr media
late lunch at yomenya goemon! i had the tarako butter one and i really liked it...i think i could try buying some mentaiko from donki back home and trying it out myself..
Tumblr media
Day 6 (18/5/2024)
conbini haul for the morning. i would like to shoutout to famima's pudding in particular; i feel a lot of store-bought pudding tend to be closer to the jelly-like consistency, but i prefer my pudding to be closer to the creamy? eggy? like consistency and famima's pudding is perfect for the price ;w;
Tumblr media
we went to miura peninsula in kanagawa for the day using the misaki maguro ticket (it's so worth!! highly recommend if you want a day trip from tokyo). for breakfast we had some coffee and toast at coffee house poem. their signature blend (kaigan blend) in particular was really unique and nice..kinda regret not ordering that for myself 😂 love the rustic interior too!
238-0101 Kanagawa, Miura, Minamishitauramachi, Kamimiyada-3130
Tumblr media
nearby there's a souvenir shop selling mainly jams, and pickles (including daikon, one of miura's specialties). did you know that i hated eating radish until japanese daikon changed my life 🤣 i also got some persimmon jam to try since i'd never really heard of it! and also some honey+daikon candy.
238-0101 Kanagawa, Miura, Minamishitauramachi, Kamimiyada-3255
Tumblr media
and finally we got SUSHI...i could cry the maguro here is so good 😭😭😭😭😭 the place is called 'kaitenzushi kaisen', but the sushi does not actually 'kaiten'/revolve, the chefs just serve it 😂 we used the maguro ticket on this so we got some maguro and some local catch!
238-0101 Kanagawa, Miura, Minamishitauramachi, Kamimiyada-3372-18
Tumblr media
we then took the train to misakiguchi station, and the bus to misaki port. there's a market there called urari marche, which sells seafood and veggies mainly. we got some skewer hotate (scallop) and maguro karaage there! i was not a big fan of the maguro karaage though..i still think maguro is best as sashimi lol
238-0243 Kanagawa, Miura, Misaki, 5 Chome-3-1
Tumblr media
right next to the port was a cafe i used my ticket on, for some danish loaf with pistachio ice cream and a coffee drink. the ice cream goes so well with the fruity loaf!
3204 bread&gelato 238-0243 Kanagawa, Miura, Misaki, 3 Chome-12-10
Tumblr media
Day 7 (19/5/2024)
went for a short walk at ueno park in the morning. there were some food stalls there! we tried some of the freshly roasted hojicha, and also some mitarashi dango. there's some skewered fish that looked good but i didn't try because i was scared of the bones 😅 and other kinda matsuri-like foods such as kakigori and yakisoba, a bit higher priced i guess because of the tourists there but i'm not a fan of yakisoba so 😆
Tumblr media
also there was an asian food festival going on near shinobazu pond! i didn't try the food (it seemed largely SEAsian food, we can get cheaper thai, viet food etc in singapore anyway), but also for some reason there is a food truck for US food? and the representative food is 'american long potato' 😂 is that a thing in US? (ok but i know US is huge)
Tumblr media
i met up with a friend for lunch at akiba and they recommended ootoya! a restaurant chain for teishoku. i got the recommended fried fish and veg in sweet vinegar sauce and 🥺 the taste mix is so good! i also wanted to randomly bring up something i'll miss about japan: pretty much every eatery, whether cafe or restaurant, serves free water, or even green tea! you rarely get free water in singapore eateries even though we have friggin drinkable tap water here 🙄 (except in japanese chains like saizeriya or sukiya..lol) you'll have to buy overpriced bottled mineral water or something even if you just want water to go with your meal.
Ootoya 大戸屋 (chain store, multiple outlets)
Tumblr media
after some walking around akiba (i.e. combing weeb stores), we stopped for some thick fluffy toast and drink (mine was cinnamon toast and almond cafe latte) at vault coffee. true it was a sunday, but we were surprised that it was some random cafe hidden in third floor of what looked otherwise like a normal commercial building on the outside, and it was still soo crowded, we had to wait a little while to be seated!
VAULT COFFEE 101-0021 Tokyo, Chiyoda City, Sotokanda, 4 Chome−5−1 3F
Tumblr media
and this marks the end of our week-long food journey in japan 😆 i had to save a lot of funds for my splurging on weeb and stationery stuff LOL, but i hope the next time i come i can focus more on sightseeing and food maybe! but for now it's back to capitalism to save up first 🏃

Nippon Coffee Crawl
As you all know, we are addicted to coffee. I want to share our adventure as we explored the rich culture and modernity of this country, discovering hidden coffee gems in both its serene places and busy streets. Here's our Japan Coffee Crawl:
Lilo Coffee Roasters
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This small coffee shop is situated on the bustling street of Nishishinsaibashi in Osaka. Here, you'll notice that Japan has a solid coffee culture, whether to kickstart the day, savor flavors while catching up with friends, or simply enjoy coffee while seated on a bench on the curb side.
Address: 〒542-0086 Osaka, Chuo Ward, Nishishinsaibashi, 1 Chome−10−28, Shinsaibashi M, 1階
Kurasu
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This coffee shop's concept is to celebrate the home-brewing experience. I was surprised that the latte I ordered was brewed using a pour-over method. It was so smooth and rich that it tasted like it was extracted from an espresso machine. This haven is for specialty coffee enthusiasts, and like their shop, it's akin to visiting a coffee-nerd friend's house where every sip tells a story.
Side note: Bought a gooseneck kettle, Miyaco, which is Japanese-made. Its design resembles a Japanese teapot but is carefully crafted for hand-dripping.
Tumblr media
Address: 552 Higashiaburanokojicho, Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto, 600-8235, Japan
Blue Bottle
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a perfect place to enjoy coffee with family and friends. Aside from the perfectly crafted coffee, the ambiance of the shop is peaceful and Japanese. It's like mindfulness practice in every sip: the aroma, the warmth, and the flavor, of course. They also serve the best-tasting cappuccino.
Address: 〒606-8437 Kyoto, Sakyo Ward, Nanzenji Kusakawacho, 64
Verve
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although posh-looking, its concept, like the others, is to showcase every step of the process (i.e., from beans to cup) bringing the wonderful produce of coffee farms to the city.
Address: 5 Chome-16-8 Roppongi, Minato City, Tokyo 106-0032, Japan
Glitch
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
During this exploration, Glitch stands out as the specialty of specialties. They only serve single origins, all light roast. They present available beans recommended for your drink for you to smell and examine based on your preference, briefly explaining the beans and their taste notes.
Fuglen
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another nice place to relax, chat, or simply people-watch while having your coffee. I'm also fascinated with Mid-Century Modern Interiors, and my eyes enjoyed the place so much.
Address: 2-chōme-6-15 Asakusa, Taito City, Tokyo 111-0032.
As you noticed, I didn't elaborate much on the coffee because these are all specialty coffee shops, and the coffee they serve are all god-tier. Each offers a wide selection of menu items based on your personal preference. However, as previously stated, Kurasu only offers manually brewed coffee, but based on my experience, you can get the same espresso-machine-tasting latte from them. During this adventure, for better comparison, I tried to order only Gibraltar or latte. Overall, the best-tasting coffee I had (not only during this crawl but by far) was the Columbia Risaralda Milan from Glitch. The very significant taste note was melon, which tasted so good and still lingered up to the last drop."

What kind of bone🦴headed government gives anti-virus vaccine shots 💉 to the already dead and dying but refuses them for the young 🌱 and healthy until they've been exposed for nine months suggesting "clinical trials" must go on until September?
It's like Revenge of the Sythe personified by Barack Obama masked by Joe Biden in a Haman like bid to rid the world of a better people! (Only much more subtle!)
Habakkuk 1:13 Thou art of eyes of tehor (pureness), not to behold rah, and canst not look on wickedness; why lookest Thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest Thy tongue when the rasha devoureth the tzaddik, the man that is more righteous than he?
Bitter to the core, to envious to endure the happy and pure.
Sirach 3:28
In the punishment of the proud there is no remedy; for the plant of wickedness hath taken root in him.
?miruP (they got it bassackward
Mishle 12:3
An adam shall not be made secure by resha, but the shoresh tzaddikim (root of the righteous ones) shall not be moved. [T.N. Cf 12:4 and 31:10.]
Yehudim in Moshiach 4:12
Forward the Dvar Hashem is chai (living) and chazak (strong), sharper than every doubled-edged cherev and penetrating as far as the division of nefesh and ruach, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the machshavot and deliberations of the kavanat halev (the inner directedness of the heart).
 Kefa II 2:3
And in their chomed (covetous) greed, they will exploit you with deceptive words. For them the Mishpat (Judgment) of old is not drei (idle) and their churban (ruin) does not slumber.
Kehillah in Rome 2
For this reason, you are without terutz (excuse) for yourself (before an angry G-d), you, sir, each one of you who passes judgment. For in that you pass judgment on the other, you condemn yourself; for you practice the very things on which you pass judgment.
And we have da’as that the judgment of Hashem HaShofet (Ro 1:32) against those who practice such things is in accordance with HaEmes Hashem (Ro 1:25).
You, sir, you who pass judgment on those who practice such things and yet do the same yourself, do you suppose then that you will escape the Mishpat Hashem?
Or do you think lightly of the wealth of his nedivut (generosity) and of his chesed and of his being ERECH APAYIM ("slow of anger, forbearing" SHEMOT 34:6) and of his zitzfleisch (patience), disregarding the fact that the Chesed Hashem (the kindness of G-d) is to lead you to teshuva (repentance)?
As a result of your KESHI (stubbornness, hardness, DEVARIM 9:27) and your levavot without teshuva, you are storing up for yourself Charon Af Hashem (the burning anger of G-d) in the Yom Af (the Day of Wrath TEHILLIM 110:5, i.e., the Yom HaDin, the Day of Judgment), when will be revealed the Mishpat HaTzedek of Hashem,
Who will render L’ISH K’MA’A’SEI HU (to each according to his works" TEHILLIM 62:13 [12]).
To those who, by zitzfleisch (patience), persevere in doing ma’asim tovim, seek for kavod (glory) and honor and incorruptibility (TEHILLIM 16:10), He will give Chayyei Olam (Eternal Life).
But to those who are selfseeking and who have no mishma’at (obedience) to HaEmes Hashem (Ro 1:25), but instead have mishma’at to resha, there will be Charon Af Hashem and fury.
There will be affliction and distress on every living neshamah who brings about what is rah (evil), Yehudi above all and Yevani (Greek) as well.
But tiferet and kavod and shalom to everyone who brings about what is tov (good), Yehudi above all and Yevani as well.
For ki ein masso panim im Hashem (there is no partiality with Hashem).
For as many as have committed averos and sinned lacking the Torah shall also perish lacking the Torah; and as many as have committed averos (sin) under the Torah shall be condemned under the Torah.
For it is not the Shomei HaTorah (hearers of the Law of Moshe Rabbeinu) who are the tzaddikim who are accounted to be YITZDAK IM HASHEM ("justified with G-d" IYOV 25:4). It is the Shomrei HaTorah (the keepers of the Torah) who will be counted to be YITZDAK IM HASHEM.
For when Goyim, who have not the Torah, do by nature what the Torah requires, they not having the Torah are the torah for themselves,
In that they demonstrate the Torah at work [YIRMEYAH 31:33], the Torah written in their levavot, their matzpun (conscience) also bearing witness, while their thoughts bring accusation or even make defense among themselves,
In the Yom [HaDin (Day of Judgment)] when, according to my Besuras HaGeulah, Hashem, through Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach Yehoshua, is to judge the secrets of kol Bnei Adam (all men).
But if you are called by the name Yehudi (Jew) and rely on the Torah and boast in Hashem,
And have da’as of His will and approve the things that matter, being instructed from the Torah
And being confident that you are a moreh derech (guide) of the ivrim (blind ones), an ohr for those in choshech,
A rabbinic moreh (teacher) of the foolish, a melammed (instructor) of the young, having the embodiment of da’as (knowledge) and Emes (Ro 1:25) in the Torah...
You, then, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach LO TIGNOV ("Do not steal!" SHEMOT 20:15), do you steal?
You who say, LO TINAF ("Do not commit adultery!" SHEMOT 20:14), do you commit adultery? You who abhor elilim (idols), do you rob pagan temples?
You who boast in the Torah, through sur min haTorah (deviating from the Torah), you commit Chillul Hashem.
As it is written, Among the Goyim KOL HAYOM HASHEM HAELOHIM MINNO’ATZ ("All the day long the Name of G-d is being blasphemed" (YESHAYAH 52:5) because of you.
For the bris milah (circumcision) is of benefit if you stand in mishma’at (obedience) to the Torah. But if you are guilty, if you are sur min haTorah (deviating from the Torah) (2:23), your bris milah has become uncircumcision.
If then the ben Adam without bris milah is shomer fulfilling the just requirements of the Torah (1:32), will not his uncircumcision be counted as "bris milah "?
And the naturally uncircumcised ben Adam who has mishma’at (obedience) to the Torah will arise as a judgment on you. You! The very one who through chumra (strict adherence to the letter of the law, legalism) and circumcision (i.e., "uncircumcision "—2:25) are the transgressor of Torah!
 For the true Yehudi (Jew) is not the one [humanly] perceived as such, nor true bris milah that which is performed visibly in the flesh;
The true Yehudi is so in [Hashem’s] hidden way, and true bris milah is of the lev, in the [hitkhadshut (renewal) of the (Yn 3:3)] Ruach Hakodesh, not in chumra (legalism, strict adherence to the letter of the law). The one so marked has hoda’ah (praise "Yehudah, Hodah, Praise"...see BERESHIS 29:35) that comes not from Bnei Adam but from Hashem [T.N.Jer 31:31-34].

5 Chome-16-1 Nishinippori, Arakawa-ku, Tōkyō-to, Japan [Real-ESRGAN Upscaled] uploaded to reddit by u/Galapogos
i’ve probably reblogged this image in the distant past, but i recently came across it again reposted unsourced on some tumblr
reverse image search yielded but a couple archillect twitter posts and various instances of the pre-ai version on soundcloud, facebook and hd-wallpaper hawkers
Tumblr media
the ai upscaled and recoloured hi-res image up at the top is a pretty fair use case of ai as a tool it seems
entirely possible the redditor is the photographer since they knew where this photo was taken, but i doubt it since they’re using an ai upscaler on an image they would have originated

La cuna del tequila
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
No te puedes perder

【Greetings】
Hello, this is KOKIA.
How did you all start the new year of 2022?
I’ve already had my first performance in Japan as I was able to make a start, feeling refreshed, and it’s gotten me excited, making me feel like similar good things will happen this year.
At the same time, I’m wishing for it to become a peaceful year somehow, hoping I can spend some time doing what I wanted to do, while also doing what I can do without being greedy, not forgetting my heartfelt gratitude for being able to sing and stand on a stage.
As I’m wishing for that at the beginning of the year, I’m really happy to be able to tell you about my performance that I’ll hold along with the season of spring.
I first got to stand on the stage of Billboard Live Yokohama last year, and it immediately became a favourite venue of mine.
I’m preparing a menu appropriate for the season of April, and I’m looking forward to greeting all of you on a fine spring day.
